my earnest hope for 2025 is that everyone embraces being a little weirder and freakier and less judgmental bc we will all be better off for it like to charge reblog to cast

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw, a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

actually the best fanfic is written by tired grad students who are writing partially to process their weekly theory readings partially to get over their most recent situationship and partially to satisfy their weirdest kinks

Shit this book essentially picks up where my Alfred-muse left off with Uhtred, what in the world, uncanny valley etc.
Edit: Ohhhh it got weirder-accurate. What in the world?
Edit 2: What is HAPPENING?
Edit 3: I wrote 75% of a scene back in September that predicts what's now happening in this book. How am I supposed to focus on work in these conditions?
Edit 4: Uhtred has thought of Alfred every fourth page of this book. He is pining SO HARD.
What am I supposed to do with this?
#tlk#tlk uhtred#tlk alfred#the flame bearer#well now I have to keep writing that scene#SHIT this is SO WEIRD#r:tdn

Oh but but - I was the opposite I think, I was like "oh no another routine villain sheesh" and THEN.
And then they drowned the storyline in angst and nuance and trauma and I was like oh okay I'm in. I'm all in. Let's fuckin' gooooo.
It’s hilarious how when Silco first appeared in s1 I was like “glad we’re returning to some classic Saturday morning cartoon villainy” only for him to become one of the most complex and fascinating characters in the show
