🦁🐾 This years marks the 30th anniversary of “The Lion King”. Last year, I had done drawings based on Chris Sanders’ storyboards for the Mufasa’s ghost sequence and made a little series of drawings of Simba and Rafiki with bees and wild honey. Possibly, aside from eating bugs and grubs, Simba might’ve also consumed some honey during his time with Timon and Pumbaa. It’s a possibility. 🍯🐝

The winter of 2019 was an immeasurably hard time for Earline Clewis. The mother-of-five had lost 3 of her sons within just a 60-day span. The nightmare first began on October 24th, 2018 - when Earline's son Marco Clewis (40) was shot to death at his Dallas, Texas home. Just minutes after the shooting, Marco's older brother Earl (51) was killed in a car accident. Months later, in January 2019, another of one Earline's sons - Matthew - died after a seizure. 

Marco's murder set off this chain of tragedies in the Clewis family. According to reports, Marco was killed after a group of individuals drove by his home on Copeland Street and opened fire. Earl, who lived just across the street, heard the gunfire. He then saw the suspects driving away from his younger brother's home.

Earl subsequently got into his car and began chasing the suspects. Minutes later, he crashed near Elsie Fay Higgins Street. Reports state that the suspects might have shot at Earl's car shortly before the wreck. Unfortunately, Earl did not survive his injuries from the crash. 

According to their mother Earline, both Marco and Earl helped provide care for their brother, Matthew, who had suffered from seizures for years. Earline said that Matthew was depressed over the deaths of his brothers. She believes that his depression and heartbreak over the tragic losses had a contributing factor in his death.

Years have passed, and Marco's murder still remains unsolved. He was due to get married just six months after his untimely passing. He was also raising three young children. All of Marco's loved ones are still hoping to receive justice in his case.

The Lion King is a 1994 animated film directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The 32nd Disney Classic, it was the fifth film released in the Disney Renaissance. It was produced by Don Hanh, and has a screenplay credited to Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts and Linda Woolverton. The original voices cast includes Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, James Earl Jones, Moira Kelly, Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg and Jim Cummings. The story takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa, and was influenced by William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. The film tells the story of Simba, a young lion who must take his father Mufasa's place as king, but after his evil uncle Scar kills Mufasa, the prince must stop him from conquering the Pride Lands and avenge his father.

With a total gross of over $968 million worldwide, it is the highest-grossing traditional animated film theatrically in history, the most successful 2D animated film in the United States, and the 39th feature film in the ranking of the highest-grossing films in the history of cinema. The Lion King earned two Oscars for its achievement in music and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Its songs, with an original score by Hans Zimmer, were written by composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice. The film was dedicated to Disney president Frank Wells, who had died in a helicopter crash on April 3, 1994.

A Broadway adaptation of the film debuted in 1997, winning six Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
