hey scream & saw fans; if you wanted any film from the spookala saw & scream panels, here's my recordings of it.
obviously these are not the best and are very amateur, but i tried getting close up shots of everyone who spoke. the scream ones are unfortunately cut up a bunch cuz i kept pausing the recording, my apologies! for costas fans, at some point he waves at my camera, so look out for that hehe... ;3
if anyone wants to use these for scene packs for any celebrity go right ahead! it would be awesome if you linked back to the google drive but it's not necessary ^_^

Scream (1996)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
For heck’s sake, it’s time I watched a classic. Time to binge what cemented the genre until I’m blue in the face. I LOVE how much this film referenced itself as a meta thing. It was probably done before being meta was even a thing.
I read things about the marketting on this movie and I believe it would have unsettled me if I saw it in ‘96. Having Drew Barrymore as the main face of advertising just to have her die within the first 15 minutes would have been traumatising. That is sort of the whole point of the franchise, to misdirect, shock and build suspense. I understand. But in 2023, it feels like camp (encouragingly).
AND YEAH. The whole cast is really hot. So what?
Screaming at the dialogue. Some stuff is out of pocket (but funny, sorry). Like “There’s always some stupid reason to kill your girlfriend.” HUH??? 🤨
I can’t help but think that in modern day context, this reads as a story of abuse. Wanting to believe the person you trust is not responsible for unspeakable things, and that you should be able to trust them. But that is not always the case. Not sure if this would be a similar reading from the noughties, but the fact it still carries is crazy. There is a double-barrelled plot about the poor justice system. Characters like Courtney Cox’s make me interested in journalism. Even if she is slightly shady at times.
I also love the fact this movie could have been called Scary Movie, thus inspiring the Scary Movie franchise. Also interesting the Red Right Hand (Peaky Blinders theme) is integrated into many important scenes. Hm. What does it mean? As Billy says: It’s all one big movie, only you can’t pick a genre. For fuck’s sake, it even references its own conservative ideology as a genre, and mirroring what happens in “real life.”
You should watch this if:
Untrustworthy narratives and characters
THE horror formula!!! (it always comes back to mommy issues)
Men destroying each other (more specifically, film bros destroying each other)
Similar Titles:
Halloween (1978) (vintage horror, similar premise)

Preacher (TV Series) S1/EP10 'Call and Response' (2016) - Biff Yeager
Damn… I wish they had Biff laying on his back for this scene. I would have love to get a good look at he chest and belly.
But from what little I see in this scene, sparks a question. How did he die on his stomach from what I assume of an heart attack from sex? I'm guessing pegging. What? She could've had a strap-on.
On A Side Note: Damn… I could get bent over a chair by W. Earl Brown. Just Saying.

SCREAM (1996)
I can see why this is a classic, it calls out its horror movie tropes while reveling in them, it is honestly very groundbreaking even for this day and age for a film to be so self aware without being a straight up comedy. Worth a watch, worth a laugh, worth a Scream.
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
(Trigger Warning Rape Mention)
We start right away with Drew Barrymore just trying to enjoy her evening but she keeps getting creepy calls from a guy watching her (dun dun dun!). He ends up killing her and her boyfriend before the night is through, their entrails steaming in the cool night air. This really rocks the school that Sidney and her friends go to but she is trying to put it out of her mind because she already has her mothers rape and murder from last year weighing her down. Sidney’s boyfriend and her best friend Tatum’s boyfriend are not very sensitive about the deaths. Suspicious? No, just some teen boys being cold and unfeeling (right?). That next night the killer goes after Sidney, oh my! And her boyfriend scares the killer away but she starts to suspect he might be the killer, but it can’t be him, right?
School is let out because too many students are acting up and wearing the killer costume at school and just generally being uncool and unsafe. This gets the principal killed for some reason even though everyone was very happy about his choice to suspend school. Either way the boyfriends host a big party that night and nothing will go wrong, right? Wrong! Tatum gets smashed up in the garage door! It is pretty gruesome! The party starts to thin out and Sidney is starting to forgive her boyfriend when he gets “stabbed” by the killer! Running ensues! Lots of people get killed! Finally it is just Sidney and her boyfriend and Tatum’s boyfriend and uh-oh! They are the killers together! Motive? Who needs it? They are just some kooky, spooky killers who love to run amuck. They also killed her mom a year ago! Wack!
Sidney is able to outsmart them with the help of a spunky reporter (played by Courteney Cox), an umbrella, and a gun. Guns are usually very helpful in knife fights. Sidney is able to escape with her life and a hell of a story to tell. There is a lot of mention of other horror movies during this film which is fun because of course I’m thinking about other horror movies during the film so it’s neat to have other ones brought up and it isn’t just me randomly mentioning films (like how Black Christmas was the first “the call is coming from inside the house” movie).
