Sci-Fi Saturday: Doctor X
Tumblr media
Week 8:
Film(s): Doctor X (Dir. Michael Curtiz, 1932)
Viewing Format: DVD
Date Watched: July 2, 2021
Rationale for Inclusion:
As mentioned last week, the critical and box office success of Frankenstein (Dir. James Whale, 1931, USA) resulted in a rush to make additional horror and/or mad scientist films. This trend would slow after 1934, in part because the beginning of enforcement of the Motion Picture Production Code sought to limit gruesome and violent content in American movies. The following weeks will include a handful of noteworthy examples of Pre-Code horror sci-fi. The first is Doctor X (Dir. Michael Curtiz, 1932, USA).
The main reason I included Doctor X in this survey, other than being a fan of the film, is that it was shot in two-color Technicolor. The color system, often incorrectly called "two-strip Technicolor", was the third iteration of the Technicolor motion picture color process. The color images produced originated on black and white film where each frame was captured first through a red filter, then a green one. Separate red and green color matrices would be created, dyed cyan-green and orange-red respectively, and in combination during the dye imbibition printing process created semi-realistic color images.
It's only "semi-realistic" because blues and purples are not reproduced, thus not replicating all colors perceivable to the human eye. This lack would soon be corrected by adding a third color matrix in the fourth iteration of the process: three-strip Technicolor, the famous "glorious Technicolor" of mid-century Hollywood and British cinema.
Part of the joy of going through science fiction cinema chronologically is watching technology advance over time. So far we've gone from silent to sound, and with Doctor X we introduce the first film of the survey shot with a subtractive color process.
Reactions:
Despite the overly elaborate lie-detector and laboratory set pieces in play, Doctor X is more of a horror film than a science fiction one. The main group of characters is a group of scientists and their leader Doctor Xavier (Lionel Atwill) uses a scientific contraption to suss out which of his colleagues is the allegedly cannibalistic serial killer on the loose, but the plot is more concerned with the crimes of the allegedly cannibalistic serial killer on the loose. The film also includes a beautiful woman being menaced by the reporter investigating Doctor Xavier's connection to the crimes, Lee Taylor (Lee Tracy), and the actual killer, in the form of a dark haired Fay Wray, as Doctor Xavier's daughter Joanne. Even before her legacy defining performance in King Kong (Dir. Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, 1933, USA), Wray was an established scream queen.
As the film goes on it is revealed that the serial killer was not taking away parts of his victims to eat, as originally thought, but as research samples for creating synthetic flesh. This synthetic flesh can also apparently create muscles, tendons, bones, capillaries and all the other complex structures of the human body because, in addition to using his invention to disguise his face, the killer fashions a fully functional synthetic arm from the magical puddy. It's a shame that this technology is limited to a plot point instead of a core part of the narrative because it is conceptually fascinating. I suppose that's what Clayface plotlines in Batman media are for though.
Interestingly from a production and trivia standpoint is the fact that the horror effects make-up for the synthetic flesh was created by Max Factor. The company was known for its innovations in cosmetics with the specific demands of cinematic production in mind, but its focus was on creating beauty, not monsters. Granted, even Universal Studios' maestro of monsters Jack Pierce had a workload of applying mostly conventional beauty make-up. Specialists in special effects make-up, like Rick Baker, would not exist until after the disillusionment of the studio system.
The Technicolor shows off its ability to display color, but does not descend into what I call "Technicolor abuse," which I define as the use of color for spectacle more than contributing to the overall diegesis of the film. (For examples of Technicolor Abuse see The Adventures of Robin Hood (Dir. Michael Curtiz, 1938, USA) and Babes in Toyland (Dir. Jack Donohue, 1961, USA)) Given the overall emphasis on green in the film's color palette, the red heart beating in the jar in Dr. Wells' (Preston Foster) lab adds to the intended shock value of the moment. Cinematographer Ray Rennahan makes the most of two-color Technicolor's limited range to create beautifully composed, vivid scenes.Doctor X may be more horror than sci-fi, but it's still an entertaining genre flick. It was successful enough at the box office to result in Warner Brothers Studios making a follow up film again starring Atwill and Wray, with direction by Curtiz and Technicolor cinematography by Rennahan, The Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933). Like Doctor X it shows off two-color Technicolor at its best, but unlike its predecessor it's pure horror.

ZX Calculus - Another Perspective on Quantum Circuits. Part II
Tumblr media
Last time we introduced basic definitions and a small set of rules of the ZX calculus. While our aim is to analyze the Bell circuit in terms of this framework, you can find more sophisticated examples in [2, pp. 28]. For the Bell circuit we only need one further ingredient:
Cups and Caps
Cups and Caps are the ZX-type representations of the Bell State |Φ^+>. As you surely know, this state "lives" in a four dimensional Hilbert space, and can be represented as a vector with four entries - and in the ZX calculus this means:
Tumblr media
In more complicated circuits it is neat to know that this Bell state actually acts as a bended piece of wire, which introduces a lot of flexibility in one's modifications of an expression. The cups and caps are merely vectorizations of the 2x2 identity matrix.
Application to the Bell Circuit
A brief reminder about the Bell circuit: It just applies a Hadamard and a CNOT on the input qubits. The outcome is supposed to be the Bell state |Φ^+>, i.e. a cup, as desribed above.
Tumblr media
First, start by translating the circuit into ZX-language, by using the definitions we found in the previous entry. The circuit becomes:
Tumblr media
Here, we simply expressed the |0> vectors as grey dots on the left, then applied a Hadamard on the first and afterwards a CNOT. Application of the Fusion rule on the two grey dots on the bottom yields:
Tumblr media
Then, we apply the Hadamard on the grey dot (|0>) which changes its color:
Tumblr media
Thus, we can again fuse two dots, in this case the two white dots above:
Tumblr media
Then, we know that dots with a single income and outcome leg are actually just identities! As a result, our expression simplifies:
Tumblr media
And this is exactly the cup we desired! Translating the circuit into ZX-language and applying the rules led us to the result that we have a Bell state in the end. Of course one could have evaluated this circuit easily by hand with the help of the matrix representations of the gates - nevertheless, I think it is a neat example to see the simplicity and beauty of the ZX-calculus. Check out [1] for more sophisticated examples!
Conclusion
Similar as tensor networks in general, the ZX calculus is a neat and beautiful framework which gives rise to a rich variety of applications - even though they resemble a lot, both are specifically tailored for different applications. A nice property of the ZX calculus is that it is universal: it can represent all 2^n x 2^m matrices and simultaneously it is a very intuitive and pictorial description [1, p.18]. As a final note: If you're familiar with condensed matter and tensor networks, you know that the AKLT state is of particular importance. It can also be described with the help of ZX Calculus and the framework is able to reveal its interesting properties as e.g. the string order [2].

You know what, tell me about your stories. I wanna know all of them. Also is there 2nd ch of children of star?? We a re mutuals and we don't interact cause I have shit personality and you don't need to answer this
Thanks for asking and giving me an excuse to go on a tangent! And don't worry about interacting, as long as you're willing to put up with my ESL self occasionally forgetting how to speak English, you're welcome to do so.
There isn't a second chapter of Children of the Stars just yet. Mostly because I'm in my matric year and have been stuck with quite possibly the worst case of writer's block I've had in years. Two factors which have been making it quite difficult to write further, but I managed to partially get my jive back this week so progress continues!
Starting with the Tempest Prince, which is very blatantly inspired by me reading Percy Jackson and the Mortal instruments books during my first playthrough of Bloodborne. It used to be just one book, then I realised that I might need three to tell the full story (Which is when I started calling them the Saga of Storms). Soon, the Saga was five books long and then I realised that this universe still has a ton of loose ends after the story ends, and so five books became 21 split across five saga's, each told from a different perspective and dealing with a different thing that's been left unfinished. I will not milk this for content. There is no content, there is only a story that needs to be told and the 21 books it will take to tell it.
Worldbuilding wise, Earth in this universe exists as a result of five different layers of reality sitting on top of each other. The border realm, realm of chaos and entropy, has quite a visceral reaction to humanity seemingly existing to create order and reacts by corrupting living beings into beasts to kill us (Humans are sort of immune to this, but that's a long story). The higher the density of people, the more often these things manifest. Several thousand years ago, someone figured out that penguins who are corrupted become what humans call Dragons, and the bones of dragons can be made into weapons and infused with the wielders blood to become harder than steel, and immediately grant the bonded all the necessary instincts to wield it: the most effective weapons for killing beasts.
Thus were born the hunters, silver blooded super-warriors who were as much their weapons as their weapons were them.
With time, the hunters realised that with enough concentration, they could manifest runes to perform simple arcane tasks, and that chaining them together could create spells. At the time, people thought these runes were the language of dragons, and called it "Draconic magic". Later, the mages who dedicated themselves to its study realised that these runes were part of something far older, far more ancient. A theorized choir whose words maintained the universe, aptly named 'the worldsong'.
Fast forward eighteen thousand years, past a literal apocalypse, a civil war, and a complete reset of human- 'Redblood' -society to make it seem like the hunters never existed, and you end up in Vereeniging, South Africa, 2021 CE, where two unsuspecting brothers named Jason and Alex bear witness to a greatbeast manifestation (like a beast but considerably harder to kill), and despite having never ascended to become hunters or even having known that the supernatural even existed, the pair fought the beast and despite having not a drop of silver blood in them used actual magic (Which even they didn't know they could do).
Some shenanigans follow, the pair agree to become hunters, and Jason (being the oldest) finally reached the day where he'll ascend and begin his formal training. All the other candidates smear their drakespine (dragon bone) weapons with their blood, submerge them in water, and then pull them out to reveal perfectly refined weaponry hewn with silver veins. He follows their example, except when he pulls it out, the veins aren't silver...
... they're gold.
And nobody, not even the people responsible for prophecies and things, knows what that means.
After that, a mysterious group catches wind of the ordeal and begins scheming in the shadows, Jason and his new friend Helga start doing their training at the Academy of Allyria, with him deciding to study to become a Mage because he's honestly kinda dogshit with a sword, and her studying to become a medic to disprove that demihumans are too brutish to be in a position of caring for the injured.
Out of the blue, Alex is abducted by a group who knows the meaning of golden blood and wants to use it for themselves, and Jason, angry as he is that someone dared to mess with his family storms off to find them, with Helga offering to tag along and help the only person other than her mother and her girlfriend who's ever treated her as a person, as more than a barely sentient animal.
That's about all I can say without spoiling.
Children of the Stars follows Lyanni Sverik, a former noblewoman who was set to inherit the ruling title over an entire Barony who witnessed the genocide of her people. In her anger, she began learning the forbidden knowledge of alchemy and of the arcane. When the temples learnt of this, she was arrested, branded a witch and made a mere slave of the state.
After she meets the patron Angel of her people, Adrian, she eventually learns that he's not divine or supernatural at all. He's simply an alien, a human from the Terran Empire working to uplift her people that decided that the mask of an angel was the easiest path to his goals. All the miracles his kind performed, the arcane might they showcased, were merely spectacles of technology so advanced that it was indistinguishable from magic.
Adrian is what I like to call my little bundle of incredibly fucked up. Like the amount of trauma this man has makes him a minefield to navigate.
The first person he ever killed was trying to kill his mother and succeeding in strangling her (A feat in and of itself, she was practically a one woman army on a bad day). His solution was to smash a shop window and grab a shard of glass to slit her assailant's throat with because Callistoan honour meant he had to protect his own. What's fucked up about this? He was only nine when he was forced to make that decision. His family helped him work through most of the trauma thereof, but even twelve years later, after fighting in a war and watching most of his family die because of what he believes was his mistake, after getting half his body blasted off and becoming a supersoldier for a few years before he was handed an honourable discharge, one of his remaining silent mannerisms is an absolute aversion to anything like a knife or a shard of broken glass.
Ironic then that his eventual girlfriend (Lyanni) usually has at least two of the things on her. Two knives and enough random chemicals to start making bombs and corrosives at a moment's notice.
The thing that's very interesting to write so far is the fact that both my protagonists are horrible people. Hell, they only need to be reframed slightly to be seen as the villains of the story (And only one aspect of the worldbuilding needs to change for them to actually become the villains),and yet they try and succeed in being better people for each other's sake. Also they're the first couple I wrote that got someone's approval for being well made, so yippee!
Other than that, a lot of politics, and a lot of speculative socio-political commentary (regarding topics that won't even have a chance to be controversial for at least another century), but it's fun to write at least.
Echoes of Shadows is based on our world as it was between 1895 and 1902. It's a fantasy world where magical control of the environment is tied to how well you understand what's happening around you. Understand the processes behind combustion well enough and you'll develop pyrokinesis, understand the properties of metal and why they exist well enough and you'll develop ferrokinesis, etc.
The point is, with general human knowledge growing as fast as it is, and the improved public access to such resources, almost half the population are mages with varying degrees of power in various fields.
The fictional country that the book is set in, Ost-Rietland, and its sister state, Zuurveldt, are based on the IRL Boer Republics that historically were one of the few peoples that the British Empire got its ass kicked by and gained respect for even after their subjugation. Ost-Rietland is based on the Transvaal Republic (The province I live in actually used to be part of their territory over 124 years ago), while Zuurveldt is based on the Orange Freestate Republic.
The city of Zuidpunkt is actually based on both Cape Town and Durban with inspiration drawn from photographs of Johannesburg in the 1880s.
The culture of most people outside of the five in the main group is just a slightly different portrayal of my own, down to the incredibly satirical personality of its people (If you've ever seen South African ads, you know what I mean, we make fun of everything- especially social problems- as a way to cope. After all, if you can laugh at something it suddenly doesn't seem so bad, and sometimes lifting that uneasiness helps spur discussions on how to fix it. Nandos is famous for this).
This universe actually came to be while I was giving a crash course on worldbuilding and I was creating a setting from scratch to show my method in practice and some problems that may arise from it when I thought "Hey, this could make for a cool story actually". Unfortunately, I have barely touched the writing for it, so not a lot to comment except that I'm a bit too proud of myself for my method of only portraying the eldritch by only revealing enough about how they look for your mind to do my job for me.
Also, all my WIPs actually share a multiverse. Adrian, Johan and Jason canonically ended up meeting when the veil between their worlds got especially thin, and you can see a different POV of the resulting fight in each story (plus, I have plans to maybe bring all three together for a crossover book at some point, but that's still years down the line if it happens at all)
Sorry for rambling, but thanks again for the ask!

Global Automotive Retrofit Electric Vehicle Powertrain Market Size, Share, Growth Analysis, By Vehicle Type(Two Wheelers, Passenger Vehicle), By Component Type(Electric motor, Inverter)
Global Automotive Retrofit Electric Vehicle Powertrain Market Insights
Global Automotive Retrofit Electric Vehicle Powertrain Market size was valued at USD 58.89 billion in 2021 and is poised to grow from USD 60.23 billion in 2022 to USD 116.2 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 7.1% in the forecast period (2023-2030).
The continues depletion of global oil reserves as a result of significant CO2 emissions, as well as global warming concerns, have contributed to the rapid rise in oil prices. Energy conservation and environmental protection are global issues. As a result, the green energy trend dominates the industrial design and development of cars. So, automotive businesses are now focusing on developing e-powertrains that consume less energy and emit less carbon. It acts as the vehicle's power source, replacing the requirements of the internal combustion engine. An electric drivetrain is a small, lightweight device that produces instant torque and very little vibration. The power distribution module (PDM), transmission, inverter, converter, gearbox, and electric motor are some of the important parts of an electric vehicle's powertrain. These things combine to provide a high-quality, smooth and responsive drive.
The automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is driven by factors such as rising fuel prices, tightening emission norms, and growing demand for affordable solutions to switch to electric portability. In addition, government incentives for electric vehicles to reduce air pollution levels and the ban on the sale of new IC motor vehicles and the use of IC motor vehicles older than 15 years are also contributed into the growth of the global market. The vehicle's gasoline-fuelled motor and any associated components, such as axles, electric motors, batteries, and numerous microelectronic, such as converter and regulator is replaced as part of an electric vehicle retrofit. Retrofitted cars also offer open matrices and chargers so they can be charged at home. Electric car retrofitting is seen by many vehicle owners as a practical option to get electric vehicles without spending money on brand-new vehicles. In addition, retrofitting is increasingly seen as a way to extend the useful life and comfort of an old vehicle after it has served its purpose.
The growing need for the electrification of vehicles in the automotive industry and increasing sales of electric vehicles are also contributing to the demand for automotive powertrains. The sector is also projected to grow at a faster pace due to the increasing need for automatic transmissions and engine downsizing to improve fuel efficiency. However, the lack of adequate EV charging infrastructure may limit the market expansion.
Global Automotive Retrofit Electric Vehicle Powertrain Market Segmental Analysis
Global automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is segmented on the basis of vehicle type, component type and region. On the basis of vehicle type, global automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is segmented into two wheelers, passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle. On the basis of component type, global automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is segmented into electric motor, inverter, converter, power distribution module, and transmission. On the basis of region, global automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is divided into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and MEA.
Automotive Retrofit Electric Vehicle Powertrain Market Analysis by Vehicle Type
On the basis of vehicle type, global automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is segmented into two wheelers, passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle. The passenger vehicle segment is expected to dominate the market during the forecast period. Due to increasing consumer demand for cars for daily mobility and rapid adoption of electric vehicles, especially in developing countries, the market for electric powertrains is growing rapidly. The expansion of the EV powertrain market in this segment is expected to be fuelled by the development of vehicle-to-grid services, better grid solutions, and greater acceptance of electric buses by transit authorities, particularly in China and India.
Automotive Retrofit Electric Vehicle Powertrain Market Analysis by Component Type
On the basis of component type, global automotive retrofit electric vehicle powertrain market is segmented into electric motor, inverter, converter, power distribution module, and transmission. The transmission segment has the largest market share for this technology. Most electric cars have a single-speed transmission. But further research and development have been done to examine the commercial viability of multiple-speed transmissions like the Porsche Taycan. Major manufacturers of EV transmissions are building multispeed sailing operations and load-shifting capabilities for electric cars. These factors are expected to support market expansion.
The power distribution module (PDM) segment is expected to grow at the fastest rate during the forecast period. Increasing use of electrical functions in EVs and cost savings associated with PDM drive market expansion.
In this market, the electric motor segment is expected to experience sustained expansion. Improved motor design is required to meet the increasing demands of thermal barriers, thereby reducing the cost of additional materials for electric motors. In turn, this promotes market expansion for e-powertrain motors.
As manufacturers develop new product lines for hasty integration into commercial vehicles, the converter category is projected to experience steady expansion in this market. In this market, the inverter segment is expected to grow gradually as manufacturers work to build cars with integrated units, which include converter and inverter functionality.

eCommerce SEO: Effective Guide for Online Store
With the increase in customers’ digital shopping behavior nowadays every business is coming digital to enhance their revenue, conversions, and product sales through eCommerce marketing. But do they know that only creating an eye-catchy eCommerce website is not efficient to skyrocket sales, your website should appear on SERP to generate sales & drive organic website traffic.
To target your audience and make your online store more visible you need Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy to build a strong online presence. Search engine optimisation is a great way for eCommerce websites to improve their ranking. Even though SEO has a high ROI, many online stores are not optimised for search engines. Reports have signified that in 2021 global eCommerce sales grew by 17.1%, do you ever think how you could stand out among your millions of competitors already popular in the market? Yes, with SEO! SEO is the long-lasting, constant method to attract buyers to your online store. Search Engine Optimisation is all about ranking high in search engine results pages (SERPs). Once you achieve a good ranking, you can automatically generate sales without incurring any additional costs.
Now, the real question comes. How do you optimise your eCommerce website with SEO?
Don’t worry! in this blog, we have covered all eCommerce SEO strategies and effective guidelines to take your online store top of the search engines.
Are you looking for trusted and reliable SEO services in London? If so, get in touch with Prabisha Consulting today for more information about how we can help you boost your online visibility and traffic.
Ecommerce SEO Checklist: Guidelines for developing result driven SEO strategy for online store
Ecommerce website optimisation & SEO may seem like a huge process when you have tons of product pages with variations, static pages like home, contact us, about, help centre. If you prioritise task per your brand target audience this is just a workflow which can be done without any hassle.
Relevant Keyword Research:
Every second around 40,000 search queries are performed on google & as of July 2022, Google has the around 83% of the market share among all search engines available to us like Yahoo, Bing, Baidu, etc. Isn’t it interesting?
And this is the reason why you should build a relevant keyword list related to the services/products you’re offering and sprinkle those keywords all over website as a form of content, product descriptions, headings, title & more.
In eCommerce SEO, Keywords play a vital role to reach your target audience organically. You have to should the keywords according to user intent, how users are searching for specific products, the search volume, cost-per-click & SEO difficulty. These are the main metrics for searching relevant keywords & also make sure you’re alternatively using the main keyword. If your competitor is ranking for “Top Ethnic Dress for women” it doesn’t mean you also have to rank for those keywords, always check the search volume and SEO difficulty. Alternatively, your website can rank for “Best Ethnic Wear Women”. Long-tail keywords are usually a better fit when it comes to user intent and has been known to increase conversion rates. For example, if your site offers baby dress, rather than using “Baby Frocks” you can use “Red cotton baby girl birthday frock”. It has been proven that long-tail keywords help to rank better on search engines than short-tail keywords.
You can also use LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords on your web page. But beware of overloading or stuffing your web page with too many of these keywords – it will only damage your site’s ranking and reputation.
SEMrush, Aherfs, Ubersuggest, and Keywordtool.io are some amazing keyword research tools by which you’ll get hundreds of user intent keywords with useful matrices.
Tips:
Do thorough competitor research & make a list of which keywords they’re ranking
Use amazon search bar to find relevant long-tail keywords
Where you should use target keyword on eCommerce site?
Product and category pages are important for a couple of reasons. One, if someone finds them in Google, they immediately have access to all your products in that category. Second, optimizing these pages properly can help your ranking.
To properly optimize these pages, you need to put your target keyword in the URLs, title tags, meta descriptions, H1s, body copy, and Image alt text. You should also use product and category keywords throughout the page to let Google know what the page is about.
Content Marketing:
Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and engaging content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.
When it comes to SEO, content marketing can be an extremely effective strategy. By creating high-quality, keyword-rich content, you can attract targeted traffic to your site and improve your search engine rankings. Additionally, by regularly publishing new content, you can keep your site fresh and relevant, which also helps to boost your SEO.
If you’re looking to use content marketing as an SEO strategy, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you need to make sure that your content is truly valuable and relevant to your target audience. Second, you need to ensure that content is optimised for search engines, using the appropriate keywords and phrases. Finally, you need to be sure to promote your content widely, through social media, email marketing, and other channels.
Site Architecture:
Website structure designing is most important when it comes to an eCommerce website, it’s all about how simple website navigation is and how smoothly customers can reach the product and category pages. The thumb rule says visitors should reach the home page to the product page with a maximum of three clicks. So with the quality content, you have to improve site architecture to reduce bounce rate & abandoned carts. A good site architecture always enhances user experience which is the ranking factor for the google algorithm, it also makes easier for search engines to index & crawl all product pages.
Improve Site Loading Speed:
There are many reasons why site loading speed is important. First, faster-loading sites tend to rank higher in search engine results pages. This means that if you want your site to be seen by potential customers, you need to make sure it loads quickly. Secondly, faster-loading sites provide a better user experience. Visitors to your site are more likely to stick around and browse if your site loads quickly, and they’re less likely to get frustrated and leave. Finally, faster-loading sites can improve your conversion rate. If potential customers are visiting your site and it takes too long to load, they’re likely to give up and go somewhere else. By improving your site’s loading speed, you can keep potential customers on your site longer and increase the likelihood that they’ll make a purchase.
Mobile Responsive
As the world increasingly moves away from desktop computers and towards mobile devices, it’s more important than ever for eCommerce sites to be mobile responsive. Mobile responsiveness means that your site can be easily accessed and used on a mobile device, without the need for a separate mobile app. In today’s market, over 60% of online traffic comes from mobile devices, so your eCommerce site must be mobile-responsive.
There are a few key things to keep in mind when making your eCommerce site mobile responsive. First, your site should be designed using responsive web design principles. This means that your site will automatically adjust to fit the screen size of the device it’s being accessed on. Second, your site should be optimized for speed. Mobile users are often on the go and don’t have time to wait for slow-loading pages. Finally, your site should be easy to use on a mobile device. This means having a mobile-friendly navigation menu and larger, easy-to-click buttons.
Making your eCommerce site mobile responsive is essential to keeping up with the competition and attracting mobile users.
Technical SEO
Technical SEO can be a tricky thing. With the ever-increasing amount of content on the internet, it can be difficult to find time to do it all. Technical SEO encompasses a lot of different elements, but they all work in tandem to help improve your rankings in Google. So what is Technical SEO?
Technical SEO is the optimisation of website & server to let google spider crawlers easily index your web pages for improving organic ranking. It’s a technical guideline to make website safe, secure & fast while meeting the all criteria of google algorithm. You always have to maintain website technical proficiency and technical optimisation to drive organic traffic & increase conversion rate.
Technical SEO Checklist:
Use SSL certificate
URL should be clear with no numeric value
Enable Rich Snippet
Fix Duplicate content issues
Find & fix broken link error
Create XML sitemap
Register your site in google analytics & search console
Link Building Strategy
Quality backlinks & internal linking web pages with each other can boost website ranking on search engines. But how? Google sees backlinks as a “trust score”, the many websites linking to your content means Google will think yes this content must have value that’s why people are linking to it. With relevant & high-quality backlinks Google Bots can easily index & crawl your website & infer that website has valuable content to rank better on SERP.
Curating a link-building strategy according to google algorithm guidelines is not easy. Google always prefers high domain authority links which are very tough to earn until and unless you’re investing a large chunk of amount creating quality, link-worthy content which is impossible not to link.
Few ways to create quality backlinks with white hat SEO techniques:
Write skyscraper content
Earn product/service reviews
Publish Guest Post
Do Competitor Research
Use all Off Page SEO techniques

What once seemed impossible, and not for me, feels more tangible and right in front of my eyes these days. Me becoming an Occupational Therapist.  This is a journey for me, and I am feeling every step of the way. Steve Maraboli once said the road to success is always under construction. Fasten your seat belt as I take you through my journey up until this far.  I have always wanted to be something in the Health and Sciences profession, but I couldn’t figure out what until I overheard the title of OT.
In every classroom either in primary or high school there will always be a high-flyer. I overheard one from my matric class stating that she will be an OT if not a medical doctor. The title of being an OT fascinated me as I have never heard of such before and never knew that it existed in my town hospital, Ingwavuma Mosvold Hospital.  I did not only end up applying for OT via CAO but getting to meet an interesting local OT.  She explained to me what occupational therapy is and the areas under occupational therapy (geriatrics, pediatrics, psychiatry, general physical conditions, and medico-legal. Occupational therapy is defined in the OTPF as the therapeutic use of everyday life occupations with persons, and groups for the purpose of enhancing or enabling participation. I never knew what OT is until my first year. I knew the definition but didn’t understand the concept nor was I able to describe it to others and it all started making sense in my second year (https://carrieschmittotd.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/AOTA-Occupational-Therapy-Practice-Framwork-OTPF-4th-edition.pdf.).
I did my first year in 2020, and there was the outbreak of covid which resulted in no longer having contact classes on campus but moving back home and adjusting to online learning. This was a hard time for me given the area I am from (connectivity issues, electricity problems. Basically, deep rural areas). With being unable to attend and do my work I ended up not passing all my modules as I was also not submitting on time. I got depressed as had my goals that after 4 years this degree must be put in motion and helping others. I did not even know about sites like SADAG (https://www.sadag.org/. ) that could have helped me cope with depression. Having to swallow the pill that my friends passed did not cause more only heartache but also negatively affected my self-esteem. If I knew what Occupational Therapists are capable of, I would have also seen one for myself for anxiety management and time management sessions.  Sometimes I do get very anxious and depressed I use the skills that I was taught during lectures and have been sharing with others not only my patients on practicals but also family.
Time went by and did my second year, 2022 as during 2021 I was redoing the module I failed. Started going on practice putting the theory into practice. With the lecturer, helping friends, supervisors, and sites like OT rex on YouTube (at  https://www.youtube.com/@OTRex) helped me understand what our focus as Ots is and how we also use activities as assessment tools and interventions. It made me realize that what is normal in me, my family, my culture, or my community may not be normal for others. This emphasized the importance of being open-minded, respectful, sympathetic with others, non-judgemental, and patient.
This journey has been a roller coaster for me. It does happen that you put in effort on your work and marks don’t reflect that, you are reminded of your failures. Then this calls one to go back to their drawing board and strategies.  It is when you keep on pushing. We are no longer driven by the clock but the passion. Looking at the differences we can make in other people’s lives, we must keep on keeping on. Khalid once said, “You can do anything if you put your mind to it” Eastside. This time around I feel like I am closer to being a certified Occupational Therapist with no student at the end compared to 2020. I am standing on the edge.  For more information on what occupational therapists do please visit this page: (https://www.aota.org/-/media/corporate/files/advocacy/state/resources/practiceact/ot-definition-for-aota-model-practice-act.pdf. )
