February 1st, 2024: A new geiko is born! Hidechiyo (秀千代) of Masamiya (雅美家) in Pontocho is celebrating her erikae! She is the second erikae for the new Masamiya okiya and the third geiko to reside there. She is also the first erikae for her kagai this year! Her outfit features waves with a Kai Awase (shell matching game) motif and a golden obi with karabana in a tortoiseshell pattern ^^ おめでとうさんどす秀千代さん ^o^! Image is courtesy of Ono No Komachi.

Hello! I had seen your newest post about the new maiko, Marika.Is there any more Minarai/Shikomis Planning to debut as a full fledged Maiko/Hangyoku/Hantama?To be specific, any place around Japan.

Hello there!

Tsuruya in Nara has a Shikomi who joined a month ago, so it's still a while until she debuts.

Masamiya in Kyoto Pontocho has a Minarai called "Hidemio" (debuts 5th April).

Tanigawa in Osaka Nanchi has two Minarai atm, called "Marizuru" and "Chizuru", but they're going to be Geiko from the start.

Hakata kenban in Fukuoka has a Minarai since last year in February, she should debut soon.

Fuminoya in Tokyo Hachioji has a Minarai called "Mayuno" since late 2021. We will see if she debuts as Geisha or Hangyoku.

Kyoto Shikomi are usually not put in the spotlight until they are ready to debut, but there are multiple Shikomi in the various Kyoto Hanamachi. We will see them when/if they become Minarai and/or finally debut.

Edit: the Fukuoka Minarai debuted as "Kochô"

Quick updates

I think I haven’t been keeping you up to date with stuff lately, so it was about time for one of these.

I’m working on Dal Lake. I was super happy to receive the Japanese script for it and I almost started it immediately though I was still in the middle of Yume Chidori then. However, the truth was I’d been working on subs almost non stop for long and I had to focus on other stuff too. That’s why Dal Lake is and will take longer than usual. I’ll be updating my progress in the “Next Projects” page, but you’ll be disappointed if you go there now lol. Let’s save you the trouble and say that only the prologue was done so far... But rest assured, I will finish it if not this year, in the beginning of the next.

I was watching Augustus the other day (quite better than I was imagining, go to Adorare’s page to get the subs if you still haven’t) and remembered another show I’d love to do. If anyone has access to the script of Spartacus, PLEASE!!!!!!!!! It’s got Yan, Miki, the Silver Millennium... I mean, Rome but you know what I mean if you’ve watched. Sorry, I got carried away. (Got it, thank you!!! It’ll be our next project!)

Last, a few good news, I’m preparing our release for Sabrina and will start working on the release for Too Short a Time to Fall in Love (the 2012 Moon version), which may take a little because it was my second or third sub ever, and I decided then not to do some of the songs lol. If there are any MasaMiya fans here, you must watch this one.

After I sent this post I noticed we’ve reached 300 followers, WOW! Thank you so much for putting up with my subs! Let’s keep going!

April 8th, 2024: Congratulations to Kyoto's newest maiko on the occasion of her misedashi! Hideshiho (秀しほ) of Masamiya (雅美家) in Pontocho has debuted among the cherry blossoms as Kyoto reaches its peak tourist season! As she is from the newly opened Masamiya okiya she is debuting without an onesan, but with 3 geiko and 6 other maiko to look up to she has plenty of role models around her to help her grow. She will actually be participating in the Kamogawa Odori next month, which runs from May 1st to 24th, so please look out for her! Her outfit features toys and lucky treasures while her obi showcases a lovely pine in shippo pattern ^^
