Hi Justine!

The other day I was reading a post in your blog that's sais that Maiko Hidekano can't come back to the kagai as she left under her on will. However, I’ve noticed that some Maiko, like Mamefuji and Kanohisha, have returned as geiko. Is this possible due to their status within the kagai or because they left for reasons beyond their control?

In 99% of cases when a geimaiko retires they stay retired. Some can come back if they've been keeping up with their lessons while they've been gone or in some other extenuating circumstances, but it still remains a very rare occurrence. In theory, it's almost always possible to come back, but they just choose not to ^^

I got super confused for a good 15 minutes because I saw Maiko Hidekano had both lips painted, and in my head I went “Huh? She’s a first year Maiko! It should be bottom lip only!” But then I remembered Pontocho is just weird sometimes.

Satoji-San reminds me of Kimisho of Honjo Okiya for some reason? But I kind of see a little bit of Retired Maiko Hidekano..?

I think that Satoji looks like Satoji ^^

Pontocho always sends two Maiko to perform at this event; this year, they sent Hidekano and Ichiai (Masunoya Okiya).
