The Brave and The Bold got cancelled with 200 issues, and Batman only met a small handful of cool characters. Sure, he met Aquaman and Green Lantern and Green Arrow a lot, but he only had one encounter with the Unknown Soldier. He only teamed up with Firestorm, Ragman, Zatanna and Red Tornado once. This is a shame, and I want to rectify it by reviving The Brave and The Bold. With narration and dialogue explicitly modelled after the old writing of Bob Haney in the 60s and 70s, we could see Batman meet way more characters. Here's just six ideas from off the top of my head:

Batman and Jonah Hex: A time travel story involving Batman being sent back to the Wild West, and stumbling into an adventure with DC's most famous cowboy, the legendary Jonah Hex.

Batman and the Crimson Avenger: A story set during WW2 on Earth-Two, Batman and Robin end up having to team up with the Crimson Avenger, DC's first superhero! Together, they have to foil a mad plot involving nazi sympathizers and fifth columnists infiltrating gotham society.

Batman and Two-Face: Someone in Gotham is framing Two-Face for a series of crimes he didn't commit. Two-Face is desperate for help, and his coin landed on the good side. So he goes to his old friend, Bruce Wayne, and asks him to help clear his name. Together, these unlikely allies uncover the mystery behind these strange copycat crimes.

Batman and Martian Manhunter: Martian Manhunter never got much respect in the pre-crisis DC universe, because he was stuck as the leader of New Mars. But how about us playing with that theme? New Mars is being swept by a strange crime wave, and Martian Manhunter comes to earth to ask Batman to help him solve it. So these old team-mates finally get to team up, and we get a glimpse at how society functions on New Mars.

Batman and Doctor Thirteen: Yes, it's finally time for a team up between the caped crusader and the ghostbreaker! Doctor Terrence Thirteen and his wife Marie were called to Gotham to help solve a mystery. There's been a series of murders in gotham, all of the victims stabbed to death. But the twist here is that the murder weapon is always missing from the scene of the crime. People keep saying it's the work of black magic, but the police suspect foul play. So they brought in the infamous ghostbreaker to help them crack the case.

While Doctor Thirteen investigates, he ends up discovering a beaten up batman, lying in Gotham's gutter. Apparently batman was also investigating this mystery, when he found himself paralyzed by fear and knocked unconscious. When he woke up, he was beaten half to death in an alley. But now that they're together, Batman and Doctor Thirteen team up to crack the case.

Together, they eventually solve the mystery: the murders were done via poison, but the poison was like a corrosive acid. It would burn at the flesh, thereby creating an effect resembling stab wounds. The killer? A bitter chemist at Gotham University, angry about the lack of respect he received amongst his peers. There was never any ghost here. Just an angry old man who'd started a criminal enterprise.

Commissioner Gordon, Black Canary and The Elongated Man: This would be a more offbeat issue. Batman is off visiting Robin at University, Green Arrow is busy with a Justice League case, and Black Canary, Ralph Dibny and his wife Sue are all in Gotham City on Christmas Vacation. They were invited to a Christmas Ball. While there, she runs into Commissioner Gordon. They hit it off. But before the party can finish winding down, the lights turn off and a body is found in the storage closet. Clearly there's now a mystery afoot!

But with Batman out of town, Commissioner Gordon has to rely on Black Canary and The Elongated Man to help him solve this mystery! Together, this dynamic trio of crime busters work to ensure this Christmas Eve mystery can be solved in time for the celebrations on Christmas Day!
