Yes, decapitation does happen to vampires in the Chronicles, in Blood & Gold Marius is even asked to help with some reattaching since it can be messed up (an experience that Armand has made, which is part of why he's so upset here). This time Marius is the victim, and I can't imagine how it would actually happen otherwise.

I think it's funny how there's this idea in fanon that Armand resents the paintings that Marius made of him... Like that does not seem to be the case in canon at all. I feel like it's the show bleeding into book fandom cause Armand seemed pretty fucking satisfied that Marius would paint giant portraits of him while Bianca only got tiny handheld ones lol

I just love this moment in BC btw:

The first known drawing made by Armand in 500 years. Made after Marius was taken away from him (again). His artistic talent was blocked due to a trauma half of a millennia ago, blocked after he was taken away from his home and from his father. It took a trauma of comparable size - the trauma of being separated from Marius (again) - to unblock his artistic superpowers back.

And I just love how we are never told whose portrait was this. Like, wasn't it obvious? No need to say it.

Doing a quick "draw a character in your own outfit" challenge, but I'm wearing my "fuck it's cold" fashion crime.

If I'm forced to wear three (3!!!!) pairs of wool socks just to exist, I should also be allowed to cope by putting them on Marius. Shifting the blame to Daniel, however. Armand also here to somehow roast Marius, Daniel and me simultaneously.

(You can be sure that this outfit does also include long johns, even if you can't see them. Armand will find out later.)

It had been Lestat's idea, the flowers, standing here now Marius wasn't sure it was the best idea. Yet here he was and he could hardly walk away now.

"He'll appreciate them, trust me."

Lestat had said.

Marius had no doubt Armand would like the flowers for their looks. The meanings however where what changed his usually calm expression into one of concern. He'd picked the blooms with the help of the florist: Red roses for love and passion, forget me not for devotion and memory, heliotrope for eternal love, and white tulips, for an apology.

It was a letter written in a gathering of flowers. Words he found hard to say otherwise, or didn't know how to say. The bouquet felt heavy in his arm though the flowers weighed nothing to him. The white flowers so simple yet the whole thing pivoted around them. He couldn't remember if he had ever voiced those words. The thought of retribution too much. He hoped that if Armand didn't want to hear it that he would simply ignore the deeper meaning of the flowers and spare him the sting of rejection.
