Finally got around to finishing the background for this, so here she is, Marigold in the Rabbit Hole by DECO*27 outfit! This roughly took 14 hours
I had a lot of fun taking the original outfit and adding some Marigold specific details and it ended up being a good project to mess around with adding highlights to my shading
Also specific shout out to Rachie's English cover of the song, I had that on loop while drawing most of this and it has found a place on Marigold's playlist forever
Transparent version under the cut
Yeah it's not cropped the same, sorry. I actually had to draw the bg image in a different canvas cuz I didn't want to merge all the layers Just In Case but also Ibis was. Struggling.

*Team dragonborn facing off against an elder dragon*
Kaidan: *downed and clinging onto life by a thread*
Marigold: *severely injured trying to heal him and hold up a ward* no please no-
Inigo: *unconscious and bleeding heavily from his head*
Lucien: *crying and trying to drag him behind a rock to shield him so he can heal him*
Caryalind: *shielding Khash with his body* HELP!
Taliesin: I’m coming- FUCKING LAND SO I CAN KILL YOU! YOU HIDEOUS BEA- *gets sent flying by the dragons tail right into a boulder*
Yaksha: *staring at his friends in horror and mounting anger, blood boiling and body physically shaking as his vision turns red and adrenaline fills him with a berserkers rage* no- it’s not ending like this- not now. Not. My. FRIEEEEEEEEENDS!!!! *charges forward grabbing the dragon by its tail and pulling it to the ground with a heavy and loud impact before grabbing Kaidans sword and jamming it right through its skull killing it instantly. Now left standing there trembling and panting as he comes out of his rampage, watching the giant winged demon fall limp and begin to disintegrate*
Marigold: *hugging onto Kaidan, shudders a little as the dragons soul absorbs into him* what?… *looks up as the dust clears to see the young orc staring at what he’d done* yaya?… are you okay?…
Yaksha: *looks back at him visibly crying and very shell shocked* I-I lost- I lost control.
Marigold: *smiles warmly at him* it’s okay. We’d be dead if you hadn’t… come here, it’s alright…
*a few hours later*
Everyone: *bruised and battered but alive*
Kaidan: *being patched up by Yaksha* you used my sword ey?…
Yaksha: I did, I-I’m sorry…
Kaidan: hey don’t be, you saved us… Might be best if I train you up a bit though in case we end up in a situation like that again…
Yaksha: …
Marigold: *pats Kaidan on the shoulder* not now… give him some time to process today…
Kaidan: aye… sorry…
Taliesin: *holding a block of stalhrim to his face* for once I agree with Kaidan. If that ever happens again I’d like to kill the beast before it sends me flying again.
Khash: I wish I could’ve seen it.
Caryalind: no. No you don’t.

Wesker and Marigold sketch (NSFW)
sketch commissioned from @eldritch-rat
Based on Marigold recollecting a recent event in Chapter 26 of Ashes in the Fall. This happens around mid-November, 1998 in the narrative, and underlines the power dynamics in their relationship.
Frozen Ashes is still starting March 21, but I might have to work up a one-shot for this scene (done!) now that I've seen this. :D
Seriously, NSFW, minors DNI. Sketch below the break.

Character Card - Commander of Ash
[Image ID: Commander of Ash, a grey colored cat with patches of dark grey on his body. He has silver blue eyes and feathers decorating his tail. Art by Pigeon_Leader on Twitter. End ID]
Name(s): Commander of Ash
Born: Pre-Final Light
Gender / Pronouns: Non-Binary, They/Him
Faction / Role: Colony of Mist / Forgotten Colony, Commander
Older than most, Ash was a respected member of their colony through age alone. Retirement was unheard of in the Colony of Mist, so when Commander of Feather completed their seasonal trials, they wisely chose Ash to help them. Feather's reign didn't last long however, as two months later they would be found impaled on a goat's horn, having grown overconfident with their title and blessings.
Ash took their place, completing their own trials just a week before the festival of rulings- the same festival Call of Dreams warned the colonies of the Final Light. As the broken ones attacked, Ash had gone from retirement, to having the fate of his whole colony in his paws in just a few short months. Faced with an impossible choice, they decided to protect their colony at any cost- even if that meant banishing them to solitude for the rest of their lives.
Relationships:
Talon of Hawk [ Deep respect and grief, thoroughly believes he died either in the rockslide, or soon after by broken ones. Would have made him advisor if he had stayed ]
Voice of Dove [ Trusted ally, Ash chose Dove as advisor because they were born after the Final Light, and Ash values that perspective ]
Background:
Born in the Colony of Mist, Ash had a normal childhood and adult life. As they grew older though, their peers took notice. Death by falling or during hunts was extremely common, making old age a rarity in the colony. By merely surviving, Ash slowly became a deeply respected member of their society.
Commander of Feather was young and naive, chosen as heir entirely because of blood- a controversial choice, especially because of their youth. Feather was smart though, and decided to announce Cloud of Ash as their advisor, intentionally choosing someone older than them. This soothed tensions and appeased the colony.
Feather, despite the public acknowledgement of their inexperience, enjoyed the power they had gained. This quickly grew into a god complex, as they began testing their limits and acting more and more recklessly. It all came to a sudden end when they tried hunting alone, and found themselves gored by a goat's horns.
Ash became commander after Feather's death, and completed his seasonal trials just before the festival of rulings. The other colonies welcomed him with warm smiles and grieved for Feather alongside him, encouraging Ash that he was fit to lead, no matter what he thought of himself. The festival was cut short as Call of Dreams interrupted, and began warning about monsters and darkness. She was quickly sent away, and the Colony of Bone apologized for the inconvenience. The festival went on.
Ash returned home, only to wake the next day to chaos. Guards woke him and said the colonies were under attack, and when Ash left to see for himself, their stomach sank. They watched as the Colony of Storm was torn to pieces, and felt the weight of the world on his shoulders as his colony asked him what to do. Would they run and abandon their home, or fight and die?
Ash refused to choose between the two, and a new idea came; Collapse the caves and live beneath the ground, imprisoned within the place they called home. It seemed like the only solution, and when he asked for volunteers, four cats volunteered. He felt extreme sorrow as Wing of Hawk and Eyes of Storm were two of these cats, but they would never stop them from protecting their home. With the plan made, Commander of Ash gathered everyone and told them of the news.
Reactions were mixed- some didn't believe there were monsters destroying the other colonies, while others blindly trusted their commander. Things just began to get violent, guards pinning down cats trying to run away and fights breaking out, as the entrance collapsed. For better or for worse, they were stuck now.
Cats grew hostile to Commander of Ash afterwards, but he led the colony to self-sufficiency. He assigned cats to learn how to breed and harvest food such as shellfish, bugs, and fish, while carefully managing their supplies. Soon, they had enough food to feed everyone without fear of going hungry later.
As a new generation of cats was born, those who had only lived underneath the surface, they took into account the new views and opinions going forward, knowing the needs of those who had seen the sun and those who had never seen the sky were different. Opinions constantly shift around Ash, but none can deny that he had done everything to keep the colony alive, regardless of the cost.

May’s Moon was also referred to as the “Month of Flowers” by Jonathan Carver in his 1798 publication, Travels Through the Interior Parts of North America: 1766, 1767, 1768 (pp. 250-252), as a likely Dakota name. Beltane is mentioned in the earliest Irish literature and is associated with important events in Irish mythology. Also known as Cétshamhain ('first of summer'), it marked the beginning of summer & was when cattle were driven out to the summer pastures. Rituals were performed to protect cattle, people & crops, and to encourage growth. (Today, Witches who observe the Wheel of the Year celebrate Beltane as the height of Spring.)
Special bonfires were kindled, whose flames, smoke & ashes were deemed to have protective powers. The people and their cattle would walk around or between bonfires & sometimes leap over the flames or embers. All household fires would be doused & then re-lit from the Beltane bonfire.
These gatherings would be accompanied by a feast, and some of the food and drink would be offered to the aos sí. Doors, windows, byres and livestock would be decorated with yellow May flowers, perhaps because they evoked fire.
In parts of Ireland, people would make a May Bush: typically a thorn bush or branch decorated with flowers, ribbons, bright shells & rushlights. Holy wells were also visited, while Beltane dew was thought to bring beauty & maintain youthfulness.
• The aos sí (often referred to as spirits or fairies) were thought to be especially active at Beltane. Like Samhain, which lies directly opposite from Beltane on the Wheel of the Year, this was seen as a time when the veil between worlds was at its thinnest. At Samhain the veil between the worlds of the living & the dead is thin enough that we can connect & convene with our beloved dead, here at Beltane it’s the veil between the human world, and the world of faeries & nature spirits that has grown thin. Offerings would be left at the ancient faerie forts, the wells and in other sacred places in an effort to appease these nature spirits to ensure a successful growing season.
Some believe this is when The Goddess is now the Mother & the God is seen as the Green Man or the wild stag. It celebrates the symbolic union, mating or marriage of the Goddess & God & heralds in the coming summer months. It represents life rather than Samhain on the opposite side of the Wheel of the Year.
Other Celebrations:
• Rosealia- May 23rd
Rosalia or Rosaria was a festival of roses celebrated on various dates, primarily in May, but scattered through mid-July. The observance is sometimes called a rosatio ("rose-adornment") or the dies rosationis, "day of rose-adornment," & could be celebrated also with violets. As a commemoration of the dead, the rosatio developed from the custom of placing flowers at burial sites. It was among the extensive private religious practices by means of which the Romans cared for their dead, reflecting the value placed on tradition (mos maiorum, "the way of the ancestors"), family lineage & memorials ranging from simple inscriptions to grand public works. Several dates on the Roman calendar were set aside as public holidays or memorial days devoted to the dead.
Roses had funerary significance in Greece, but were particularly associated with death & entombment among the Romans. In Greece, roses appear on funerary steles & in epitaphs most often of girls. Flowers were traditional symbols of rejuvenation, rebirth &memory, with the red & purple of roses & violets felt to evoke the color of blood as a form of propitiation

Marigold: kaidan?… are you okay?…
Kaidan: You want to know what’s on my mind so badly, Dragonborn? Fine. I think you, should leave me.
Marigold: *visibly surprised at being referred to as dragonborn by him, and even more surprised by his tone* Kaidan, I’m not leaving you. I promised you no matter what happens we’d face it together.
Kaidan: *glaring down at him* Find another man to be your shield… I wish our paths had never crossed, I wish I died in that prison!
Marigold: k-kaidan- *reaches for him*
Kaidan: YOU SHOULD BE SCARED OF ME!!
Marigold: *bites his lip and lunges forward hugging him tight* stop it… I know you’re only saying this because you’re scared s-so stop it! *sniffles fighting back tears* I know you don’t mean any of it… *slides his hands up his back* I love you… let me help you… please…
Kaidan: … *gently hugs him back, sliding his hands up to his shoulders and pushing him away* You’re an idiot… *turns and walks off leaving the city*
Marigold: *standing there feeling his heart break* kaidan…
Caryalind: … *saw and heard everything, starts pulling on his armour* Taliesin, get the rest of the group. We’re in for a big fight. If not against these assholes after Kaidan than Kaidan himself.
Taliesin: I?! We’re fighting Kaidan?! Why?! What happened?!
Caryalind: He broke his promise to me. He broke Marie’s heart. And if he doesn’t apologise. *grabs his bag slinging it over his shoulder* I’m going to break him.

Spring of Longing
Request: Hello friend! I got she fell first but he fell harder 😘
AN: Perfect timing with this one anon. I am still recovering from a particularly angsty book I just finished reading. Enjoy!
Tropesvania Event- feel free to request
Genre: hurt no comfort
Pairing(s): Adrian Tepes x gn Reader
Summary: S/O fell first but he fell harder
It is the mundane that wounds him most. After decades of living with you, a life now faded into the past, Adrian shouldn’t be like this, a sobbing mess on the cold, hard kitchen floor.
Clutching the brittle packets of seeds, he presses them to his heart, his body wracked with sobs.
The chill dawn breeze creeps in through the window he had just managed to pry open, its icy fingers matching the freezing tears that fall down his face.
Like a dam breaking, the grief he has buried for so long comes rushing forth, unstoppable and all-consuming.
Etched on the back of each packet is your handwriting, the elegant cursive preserved across the ages.
In cramped spaces, you had written meticulous instructions: dates, months, irrigation tips, and care. Each word was a tender promise, a piece of you now reaching across the chasm of life and death to find him.
“How do you do it without me noticing?” Adrian had once asked, standing amidst the vibrant blooms of the garden.
It was as if spring had snuck into his father’s dreary grounds overnight, scattering flowers in an explosion of life.
Daffodils, peonies, snowdrops, and primroses heralded the early days of the season. Later came the roses, jasmine, and marigolds, ending the spring with their heady perfumes. Each year, a different arrangement appeared, unfurling as if by magic.
In the center of it all stood the small gazebo, draped in fragrant vines. It was your shared spot for evening teas and soups, or for quiet nights spent snuggling and stargazing.
Adrian turned to you, astonished yet fond. “It’s like they appear out of nowhere. When do you even find the time to do all this?”
You’d grinned at him, a playful light in your eyes. “It’s a secret, my love,” you chuckled, crouching to caress the delicate petals of a petunia.
Standing, you tucked the bloom behind his ear, your fingers lingering against his cheek. “One day, you’ll know. But until then, let me do it for you.”
Then you kissed him, your eyes full of a love so deep it made him weak.
But you never did tell him.
And now, you never could.
Adrian hadn’t dared to set foot in the garden since illness had taken you. He hadn’t even looked its way, not after it had whisked you from his arms. Curtains had been drawn, windows nailed shut, keeping out every wisp of spring breeze.
Grief had consumed him, and with it came wrath. He had abandoned Castle Dracula, along with every promise he had made to himself, to Trevor, and to you. He had left it all his lineage, the Belmont knowledge of the ancient, and the echoes of your voice, left to decay in silence.
In his mourning, he had raged and cursed the world for its cruelty.
Then, decades of wandering foreign lands had numbed him. On good days, he could forget the sound of your laughter, the feel of your hand in his. On bad days, he stood unmoving for hours, waiting—praying—for you to find him.
Perhaps that was why he had returned. The walls of his childhood home still stood, their cold stone preserved by his father’s enchantments. But walking through its hollowed halls, Adrian found himself a stranger in a place he had once known.
Your room had long since been stripped bare. That had been his doing, burning every piece of furniture, every remnant of your presence, in a fit of grief. Better ashes than the thought of strangers claiming them.
The kitchen, however, had gone untouched. It wasn’t until a faint scuffle of mice drew his attention to an old cupboard that he discovered them. Tucked high above the cobwebs and dust, he felt the crisp edges of stacked paper: the seed packets.
Somehow, even in death, you had found him.
Adrian sits frozen, clutching the packets. “You never did tell me,” he whispers, his voice raw with emotion. “How am I supposed to…?” His words break, drowned by another wave of sobs. “You never told me.”
It takes a long time for him to stand. His legs tremble beneath him as he leans against the counter, willing himself forward. Step by step, he walks toward the one place he had forbidden himself to go.
The garden.
He expects to find it barren, overrun by weeds or swallowed by the encroaching forest. But what greets him is a sight he cannot comprehend.
The garden blooms, vibrant and alive, as though time itself had held its breath. Daffodils sway gently in the breeze, roses climb the trellises, and the gazebo stands untouched, draped in fragrant vines. Dew glistens on the petals, catching the soft light of dawn.
For a moment, Adrian forgets to breathe.
He steps forward, his heart pounding as memories flood back with every flower. He half-expects to see you there, stepping out from behind a rose bush with that proud grin he adored so much. Or perhaps seated in the gazebo, fussing over an errant vine that refused to climb properly.
But there is only silence.
The sun rises slowly, its mellow rays spilling over the dew-covered blooms. Adrian stands amidst it all, surrounded by the love you had left behind. His tears fall freely now, unrestrained.
In this sacred place, he mourns you anew grieving with the flowers that carried your touch.
It was never-ending. His grief would bloom with every season like the garden that still remained bound to your neatly written notes.

Frozen Ashes master list (Calendula Chronicles, Book 3)
The Code Veronica arc of the Calendula Chronicles.
Story synopsis: Albert Wesker molded his captive into the perfect, pliable bait for taking out Rockfort, and cracking open the Ashford family’s secrets. But who’s really in control, once chaos breaks out?
The stakes have never been higher for Marigold, but she may not be fast enough to save everyone.
Regarding Frozen Ashes and The Antarctica Incident (Q_Alias)
Frozen Ashes was written as the other side of Q_Alias' The Antarctica Incident. Marigold actively enters that story around chapter 23 27 (5-1 in their narrative), and moves out of it as an active participant at some point after chapter 30 35? (6-5 in their story) eventually. However, she's very active in the background of Q's narrative. We started to soft-merge our respective plots back in October 2022 plots, rather than a strict collaboration (like 1981). When I started writing, I set up a little timeline of events for reference, so I'll link when relevant events are happening at the same time in that story.
Frozen Ashes playlist
This is a rough list. After chapter 30, what I have in place is approximate. There may or may not be extra chapters or an extra section. Ha, YEP part 4 expanded into two separate parts already!
