I need a breather 🥺❤️
Tumblr media
Я никак не могу придумать в каком из подразделений РГ они могли был служить, поэтому шевроны, окантовка треугольников и погоны Дара остались пустыми.

It still rattles my fucking mind that Dar Basri was underutilised in House Of Ashes!!
Like yes, I am well aware he is an NPC in these games as written in the rule book by our almighty leaders SuperMassive Games: NPCs gotta die!
BBBUUUUUTTTT have you considered that, and hear me out, he could have been an excellent addition to the story if he was used just that extra bit more.
He could've really been something if used, like further straining the very thin team up that Salim had with the Americans! Because, despite now being fully aware that yes there is a bigger threat that the theatre troupe with a glock, him being so deeply stuck in his ways that while okay he'll follow along he would always butt in when formulating plans or getting in to disputes with other members because they did something he finds wrong or flat out stupid (its your fault its stupid but hey you're doing your best)
He's a captain and has probably got some half decent experience under his belt, he's headstrong, tactical, a force to be fucking reckoned with if you let the bastard run rampant (Killing and wounding members of the main cast) And yet he dies too quickly in my opinion. Dar does not give up, even when his large intestine is being dragged behind him before he gets jumped by the vampires and is ripped to shreds. Killing him was too easy, I think he should have been give the chance to show off as an actual character, the warrior he is supposed to be!!! Watching him reluctantly alongside the others showing off how much of a menace he actually is, that would have been awesome!
Also it could be fun to see the extent of him and Salim's respected but strained relationship. Salim and Dar can butt heads significantly or they can work in tandem as a double act if you're more obedient and less argumentative as Salim. It's possible to see that Dar has respect and some amount of care for Salim so allowing the dynamic to go further and allowing it to get more complex could be a perfect foil to that buddy buddy relationship Salim develops with Jason.
Having Salim walk this glory hound on a tight leash while also having enough respect to actually listen to what the guy has to say would prove to be really interesting. Having that constant whisper of suspicion or opposition in Salim's ear would have made the relationships you build with Jason and the like a lot more fun to work for and hey, maybe in the end Dar learns to at the very least respect the tenacity and determination of the Americans. He doesn't have to be as all lovey dovey as Salim is by the end but having that "Okay, I can respect that" moment would be really cool!!
I think a lot of NPC characters in these games could make the plot better if they are given just that bit extra attention and especially Dar because of how much of balancing act he could be for the plot!!
Okay rambling over now you can return to your regular scheduled programming.

You hear a persistent knock on your door. You quickly rush to check who's there.
-Dar!
-*hello, hayati~*
Dar is standing in the doorframe, smiling at you with a silly smile. Yeaah, seems like he's a bit drunk...he instantly starts hugging and kissing your neck.
-woah woah! Big guy, calm down- oh, hey.. Salim?
Salim was standing behind Dar this whole time..he's not exactly sober himself but has a better control of his movements, that's for sure..
-hello there.. I'm sorry, he dragged me here. He really wanted to see you.
-want to come in..?
You say trying to push Dar off of you.
-sure uugh do you need some help? *Captain, get ahold of yourself!*
He grabs Dar's shoulders and starts pulling him.
-*hey, Salim! Leave me be with my angel!*
-are you okay? Don't argue please..
You look at Salim for some explanation.
-it's fine, he had too much alcohol. *Dar, stop it. You'll scare her with your behavior.*
Dar looks at you for a moment, gives you a little kiss on the cheek and steps back. Then gives Salim a death stare.
-want some..tea maybe? Gotta wash out that alcohol somehow
-yes please
-does Dar..?
-he'll also have some.
-*what's going on?*
-*you're going to drink tea.*
-*who said I want tea?*
-*what DO you want??*
Dar looks at you, giggling. Salim pushes him in the shoulder. Dar smiles at him, playing with his eyebrows. You blush a little, not understanding what the hell is going on but you get Dar's attention, I guess?
-*can you behave for once when we visit her together??*
-*Salim, look at her, how am I supposed to behave?*
-soo...
You break their intense dialogue.
-tea...?
Salim tightly holds Basri's shoulder.
-yes. We BOTH-
He looks at Dar.
--would love it.
Dar pushes Salim's hand off of himself and then speaks strictly.
-*Salim, close the door.*
-*what*
-*the entrance door. Close it*
Salim slowly turns around to close the door, he's clearly not happy with Dar commanding again, as if Salim haven't heard that the whole past week. He sighs, closes the door and turns around just to see how Dar is pinning you to a wall, frenching.
-*Dar!*
Dar roughly breaks the kiss
-*Salim, you're either IN or OUT! Go drink your tea somewhere else.*
Salim roles his eyes.
-Salim..? I'm sorry, you know how he is..
-he..
He looks down
-am I allowed to join?
He gives you an awkward smile.
-wh-
You look at Dar for a moment, then back at Salim.
-sure...?
Your heart is pounding out of your chest. Dar looks at slowly approaching Salim. Their eyes meet for a moment.
-thank you, habibi..
Salim leans in for a kiss with you, Dar smirks.
-*good choice, Salim*
You feel Salim's gentle lips studying yours. After Dar he feels so nice and soft..respectful even. Dar is being patient, looking carefully at you two. His hand is caressing your hip.
-*you won't get another chance, Salim, enjoy it while it lasts*
Salim murmurs into the kiss
-*as long as you're sober that is*
Dar playfully pushes Salim with his elbow
-*careful with the words here!*
Salim continues to kiss you, while you put your hand on Dar's cheek, to which he snuggles like a kitten
-*ma atyaback..*
Dar whispers in half breath. Salim smiles to his words. He's never thought to hear his strict captain say sweet words of love to someone.
Suddenly Dar grabs your thighs and picks you up, breaking your kiss. You grab his shoulders, meeting his eyes with yours.
-*share some of those beautiful lips with me, my angel*
You were about to look at Salim but Dar distracted you by kissing your lips abruptly. He roughly moved towards your neck.
-Salim..
You say softly, making Dar look at you with surprise. Now why would you call Salim when HE is kissing you.. you smile at Dar's reaction.
-Salim, tell him that we should get somewhere more comfortable..
Dar's eyes shift to Salim.
-*let's go, your angel wants to get more comfortable!*
He pats Dar's arm and moves through the corridor looking for the bedroom. He gives Dar a sign to follow him and Dar carefully takes you to the room, almost without breaking the eye contact.
-*Salim, sit down on the bed*
Dar orders. Salim obediently follows his words.
-*get comfortable, soldier, you're the guest today!*
Dar looks at Salim playfully as he sits down next to him, with you in his arms. Captain Basri gets a good look at you.
-*my beautiful thing..hate to see you with another man but we need to show Salim what a lucky man I am*
He looks at Salim.
-*what are you waiting for? Pants off!*
Salim chuckles and unzips his pants, making you impudently stare. He looks at you with his puppy eyes and a side smile.
-didn't think you'd be so eager to see it!
-oh, I-
You shift your eyes to Dar, making him laugh. He grabs your chin and makes you face Salim's crotch. Your eyes wobble a bit. Awkward.. suddenly Dar moves his hand and starts pushing you towards Salim's dick. You follow his rules. You end up laying on your stomach, your head is next to Salim's cock, your ass facing up on Dar's knees, which makes him bite his lip. That damn ass and tiddie lover. You feel how he eagerly takes off your pants and underwear with one hand and the other instantly grabs you. You love feeling his hands on you.. your hand reaches for Salim's dick, starting to slowly stroke it. Dar grunts quietly.
-*that's right, make him feel good, my angel..*
Salim looks at Dar for a second, then at you. You look so eager to take him.. you lips gently press against his tip. Goosebumps hit the poor guy. You barely suck it and he already grips into the bedsheets.
-oh..that's a good girl..habibi
Your hot tongue circles around the tip, as you feel Dar's hands making themselves at home. He slides his fingers along your spine, the other hand gets in between your legs.
-*Salim, she's so wet, I'd slide my tongue right inside her..*
Salim blushes, looking at Dar.
-*ah, just listen to her..*
He slides his thumb in, making you moan. His fingers rubbing against your clit.
-*you should hear her moans when I fuck her with my hard dick.. she's such a good obedient girl, deserves to get some treat..*
-*Dar, please!*
Dar laughs, watching how Salim is turning red and panting. Suddenly you deep throat him, making him moan his soul out.
-oh, habibi!
Salim places his hand on his mouth, frowning his eyebrows.
You feel Dar gripping into your butt, while fucking you with his, now two, fingers. He's being pretty rough but it feels so good, fuck. Your ass lifts on its own. You feel your legs shaking in anticipation. You try your best to please Salim, sliding your tongue across his veins. He loves it. You see him trying to keep it together and not start using you as a fuck toy. Tho his hand is already being a bit pushy on your hair. Poor baby trying so hard to be polite!
-*Salim, come here..*
Dar grabs the back of his head and gives him a rough but passionate kiss on the lips. Well..that was surely unexpected! You feel Salim's dick started pulsating in your mouth. What a move, Dar..
-*don't expect me to do it again..it's a one time offer*
He whispers into Salim's lips. Sure, mr drunk guy, we believe you. Especially Salim, who kept greedily kissing him. He starts moaning into the kiss and you feel his hot cum feeling your throat.
-*I knew you were into me, soldier*
Dar whispers smugly. Salim is trying to catch his breath switching his attention between you two. Dar looks at you.
-*now excuse me, I need to take care of my little angel*
Dar picks you up from Salim and places in his lap. Oh he's hard. Looking straight into your eyes.
-*hayaatii~*
He looks so bold..you bite your lip. God you want this man to fuck the living soul out of you.
-captain Basri...
Low move! You made him gasp!
-*cheeky girl..I'll show you captain Basri*
Salim swallows looking at him.
-*don't go too hard on her*
-*don't teach me how to handle my woman.*
He grabs your hips, making you get up to give him space for taking off his pants. He keeps his underwear on and places you back, right on his dick.
-*you want this?*
He starts rubbing you against himself. He does it fast and neat.
-*you want me to fuck you good, little angel? To make you see the stars?*
You look at Salim.
-do y-you want him..?
You nod, looking back at Dar.
-*I'll fuck you until you beg, my treasure..*
He takes out his dick, instantly pressing it against your entrance but not going in. He grins.
-Dar...please...captain Basri...
He tightens his grip on your hips and abruptly makes you take his full length. You cry.
-shh shhh..
He whispers into your ear.
-*you called for captain Basri - you get captain Basri..*
He starts moving you. Short but quick and sharp pounds make everything inside you burn. Salim is watching with excitement.. you reach your hand for him, he places it in his. You hold him tight. The skin on your butt hurts from Dar's grasp but it's not the worst pain you feel, trust me. It hurts..but the pain feels so good..
He makes it rougher, he makes you completely lose your breath. He even manages to place random kisses every now and then as if teasing you. Yeah, sure, you can be gentle while absolutely rearranging someone's guts.
Your moans make Salim bite his lip..Dar was right..they are something. He'd love to kiss you right now...but you're not really..approachable at the moment..
-*ah, Salim, she sounds so lovely..do you hear that?*
-*I do..*
Salim's reply sounded so..sincere. Don't think he himself expected to sound like that..
You let go of Salim's hand and hug Dar's neck tightly. You feel how well he stretched you out, how hard he is inside you. Big bear is happy to feel that hug...he slows down a bit but makes you move along his full length. Both of you moan almost in sync. He whispers your name. You feel how close you are and not only you. Salim suddenly decides to repay Dar by kissing his neck from behind, going for hickeys. Dar's eyes widened. He frowns, as he barely managed to pull out in time. He spills all over both of you.
-*you son of a bastard!*
He raises his tone at Salim. Salim laughs, making Dar chuckle in reply. Finally, he's able to kiss you... Salim carefully places his fingers on your chin and presses his lips against yours, while Dar kisses your neck with a relaxed sigh.
Maybe now they'll finally calm down...falling asleep with you in both of their arms.

Hot take: “The Quarry” should’ve been one of the “Dark Pictures Anthology” installments while “House of Ashes” should’ve been the standalone, spiritual sequel to “Until Dawn”
Arguing points:
1) “The Quarry” can easily be reduced down to five playable characters; Laura, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Abi. Jacob is only important to the story by messing up the car, so he can be a NPC. Nick and Max are only there to be werewolves. Emma’s not that important of a character in the overall story.
2) “House of Ashes” has an ending that is more in line with “Until Dawn” than “The Quarry”. Similar to “Until Dawn”, “House of Ashes” has all the surviving characters in an epic last stand against the monsters. And then, just like “Until Dawn”, the survivors are interviewed about their experiences.
3) “House of Ashes” can be expanded to eight playable characters. Just have Merwin, Clarice, and Captain Dar Basri be playable as well. Dar can also be the “Josh” of the group, in that he’s a playable character who is also a major antagonist.
4) “House of Ashes” has a story that can justify ten or so chapters. We could’ve gotten more insight on the aliens and how they affected early Mesopotamia. We could’ve also gotten more tension between the U.S. forces and the Iraqi republican guard. “The Quarry” seems to drag in the second half, especially since most of the time, the characters are just wandering around in the woods. Cut out some filler sections, trim down chapter 7, and reintroduce Laura earlier in the story, and you’d have a tighter narrative.
5) This is more of a biased point; “House of Ashes” is way more interesting than “The Quarry”. “The Quarry” is really basic when you think about it. There was a freak show with a werewolf, the werewolf got loose, now you have to kill the werewolf. “House of Ashes” features vampires that are actually aliens, the ruins of an alien spaceship that crash landed a millennia ago, and a backstory involving ancient Mesopotamia. And then you have the modern day story being about U.S. military personnel being forced to work with the Iraqi republican guard, their enemies. I’m just saying.
6) Cutting down on the length of “The Quarry” would actually improve the overall story in my opinion. Not only is it too drawn out, the game doesn’t really come together in the end. You have the main narrative about Laura, Ryan, and Travis trying to kill Silas. As for everyone else, they’re just doing side stories until the morning. If the game centered on the main story of killing Silas, the narrative would be much tighter and satisfying.

Let Go
[Happy 1st Anniversary, House of Ashes!]
Eric sat on the back porch with his hands clasped together. He and the guys rented a cabin together but he needed some space alone. He was happy for Jason and Salim, of course, but their closeness felt like an extra dig into him. Unintentional on their end but still painful for him. A door creaked behind him and Eric turned, expecting either of the two. Instead he found Dar Basri in the doorway.
Salim had invited his former captain along on this trip. Eric had a feeling this was only because otherwise Eric would've felt like the third wheel.
“Giving the lovebirds some alone time?” Eric asked as the Iraqi man drew closer.
“Looking for you,” Dar responded with a shake of his head. He'd been working on his English and while not as fluent as Salim, could carry on a conversation well enough. “Beautiful,” he added, taking in the scenery.
“Jason found this place,” Eric explained. “If it were up to me, we'd be in a hotel somewhere in the city. I'm not much of the outdoorsey type.” Dar smiled at that and took a seat close to Eric. Self-consciously, Eric tightened his hands a bit more. Dar noticed and raised an eyebrow. He didn't ask but his gaze was inquisitive. Finally Eric caved and opened his hands to reveal his wedding ring.
“Salim told me you are divorced,” Dar said with a note of confusion.
“Yeah. I am.” Eric closed his hands around the ring again. “Today would have been our anniversary.” Dar simply watched him with a thoughtful expression. Eric felt strangely uncomfortable-- like Dar was seeing into him and understanding more than Eric was revealing.
Eric turned away from those searching eyes. For a few minutes the two men sat together in silence. Suddenly he felt a hand clasp around his wrist. Startled, he turned to look Dar's way again. The man's grip was strong and rough with the callous of a longtime soldier.
“The past is over, Eric,” Dar told him firmly. “Holding onto it changes nothing.”
“I know that. I... it just... it still hurts. She chose him. I wasn't...” Eric swallowed and squeezed the ring tightly between his hands. “I loved her,” he managed through the lump in his throat.
“That is gone now,” Dar said. His voice was firm but there was no malice to it. He squeezed his hand around Eric's wrist. “Let it go.”
Eric stared at him in silence. He knew Dar was right. There really was nothing left for Eric to hold onto; Rachel made that more than clear. Eric was holding onto a rope that was cut long ago. Swallowing, he slowly opened his hands to expose the ring again. He let it slip between his hands to fall on the porch.
“Good start,” Dar praised him. He was still holding onto Eric's wrist but the grip felt like a comfort now. “Today is not your wedding anniversary anymore. It is the day you chose to move forward.”
“You're very eloquent when you want to be,” Eric observed, suddenly feeling shy.
“Come.” Dar's hand slipped down to Eric's and tugged. “Jason wants to play some smash game with us all.”
“You mean Smash Brothers?” Eric allowed the other man to pull him up on his feet. “You're going to love that game. You basically try to beat the other players until they fall off the arena.” Dar let out a laugh at that
They were still holding hands. Eric knew the custom and didn't protest, touched that Dar would see him as a good enough friend. Jason and Salim were waiting for them with controllers at the ready. Dar released Eric's hand at last to give him a third controller. Eric exchanged a smile with Dar before focusing on the screen.
The ring lay forgotten behind him.

Solifugae.
a/n: i don’t really remember, when i wrote this. but i did, and now, i’m not sure what to do with it, so i’ll post it. not deeper meaning here. just some thoughts about ship. and yeah, the name of the drabble isn’t just a bunch of words...this thing exists. check it out, if you dare lol.
dar/salim. UST.
--------------
And oh how perfect he is between the seams. In every way, and every fiber, and how aching Dar is to ever touch him in the most humiliating ways. Humiliate him by the touch alone sounds like a delight.
There is a lot of that righteousness to Salim, of something that he has no right to bear. And it makes Dar grit his teeth at times. Beyond annoyed, but somewhat still too entirely fond of it.
Of him.
He never considers it for too long. He doesn’t have time to. Basri simply drags him around, like one would a pet, a pistol, a small child, that they have no idea what to do with. And Salim never seems to question it, or perhaps, he does inside his own head.
But never out loud. It’s just ‘sir’, ‘captain’ and other ways of agreement. Any sort of resistment is only saved in looks and small gestures. It’s on the nose, but never truly affirmed.
Yet, Dar always wanted to know what Salim really thought about. What would go through his mind, if he saw things that Basri thought about in return. Would he feel disgust or would he accept it as he did everything else? What would he say about things, that Dar had done behind his back, away from judging eyes?
Salim praises the god. Utters his name, a prayer of kinds, and it makes Dar slightly unhinged. Something prickles under his skin, like anger, and he would have scoffed, if it was appropriate. For he had failed to believe in holy things.
He tried for years, but his soul was never with god. Even less so his intentions.
He never did trust in dogmas, and it made him the odd one. Everybody has to accept the sand, to accept the way life went. You were born in the desert, between the merciless sun and nothing, but an oozing wave of red sandy graves. You die in the desert. Fried to the bone.
This was the only truth.
And if there is something else, besides religion and beside stories of ancient, dark past. He would so belong with cursed things.
He feels cursed, anyhow. Restless in unexplained ways.
Not sure how to describe it, not sure how to deal with it. Alcohol doesn’t help for long, the thrill-killing goes to waste, and those eyes are always wounded, softly accusing. And now, it makes something shift. He has no names for those emotions, they seem to make him into an animal almost.
And to tear and to hunt, he wants.
He craves to get to the bone, and snap at the veiny point of his, and only his neck. He craves a drop more, than flesh has to offer, and he craves some other, more intimate things.
A line of sight, a touch of lips, a word of devotion. He wonders if he can beat it into Salim with time. If he can teach him loyalty through lessons and manhandling touch, through the bark of command.
He could train him. Strip him of those alien ideas, that he preaches without any care in the world.
He would do a lot (for) to Salim. For his own good, you have to believe. And he would go far just to make him survive the hard times. Stand up against the eagerness of his still too-light, too-unreal dreams.
He would do a lot for his lieutenant, even if in his own maternal, harsh ways.
They crawl alongside sand, and they pull a trigger. And he’s not sorry for what he does, he’s not sorry for killing those pests. He’s not ever sorry, not even a bit apologetic, if something is necessary. And this is necessary.
You have to survive, and you have to be tough, and you have feel no guilt. No shame in what one has to do in order to see the light of day. To survive.
And Dar doesn’t have a lot of shame to begin with.
But Salim is different.
Salim feels guilt. He feels like he should ask for forgiveness from god for killing. But Allah told, they're a mere dogs, they’re s non-believers, and as a non-believer himself, Dar feels his blood pressure rising.
If it was up to him, to his will, they would have been all dead, and never breathing among their land. The invaders. The occupants. The terrorists.
They’re all the same to him. Deserved of the same unnamed grave.
Call it cruel, call it pragmatic.
Basri might have been many things, but he wanted to protect his country with all his might. A land, that never belonged to strangers, that spoke a language, he doesn’t know. This land had to stay free.
Your own tyrant is better, than an unknown one. He learned it fast.
Salim was the opposite. More educated, but less grounded. He knew their - occupant’s - language, which was both useful and also offensive to the brim.
Basri hated english. But he has to admit, that he likes it, when Salim speaks those odd, unfamiliar words. It’s almost like picturing him spitting curces, for how modest he is.
And so dirty the words lie on the tip of his tongue.
Yet the curses, that he would catch with his own ears are always in Arabic. The most honest ones. But Salim tends to pray most of the time, and mix it with those other ‘bad’ words at times. And he wonders, if to god he would pray too, if Dar would taken him. He truly wondered if he would.
He hoped, that he would.
Curse, not pray.
He pictures it at times, allowing himself to get lost in that fantasy of his. Simple, banal and he feels like an animal again. He stirs and he’s ready to do what he thinks is the best. His mind tells him only rationality, and his impulses want no part in this.
They want not to listen. And he just wants. More and more each year. To be deaf to logic. He wants, but never quite does act on his instincts, no matter how easy it would have been.
Salim has no idea.
And Dar likes it this way. Commanding is as easy as breathing air. He knows better. He knows that this has to be done, and Salim just doesn’t get it.
Dar wants to talk some shiver of sense into him. As Salim is the only one, who needs to be guided. Otherwise, he would end up dead. With bullet between the eyes.
Salim would always make mistakes. Many and many, dozens of them. Because he’s misguided by his false sense of morals. Because he feels, like he could do better. Dar is well-aware of this, and he pushed back, harder and more aggressively.
He forces Salim to back down with words or touch.
When he keeps him at the ground by scruff of his neck, and when he hiss a command at him - it’s out of care too. No matter how Salim regards it, Dar does know what is best for him. And he would make sure, that Salim would learn it too one day.
By whatever means it takes.

To the dismay of Captain Basri, Lieutenant Othman had a habit of speaking up.
Tumblr media
In that moment, the Captain entertained the idea of breaking both of his Lieutenants hands. It would have been so easy, too. Salim may be good, but Dar was better, stronger.
Pinned to the ground, the smaller man would claw at him with his useless hands, begging him to stop. He would cry out as he moved on to his arms, snapping them like twigs.
Before he could delve deeper into his fantasy, Othman broke away from Basris grip. The Lieutenant walked away, with his Captain not too far behind.
Salims face contorted in pain, with fresh tears dripping down his cheeks, lingered on his mind for the remainder of the day. He would indulge in these thoughts later, in private.

Something I would change from “House of Ashes”:
Instead of the love triangle between Eric, Rachel, and Nick, I would’ve doubled down on the theme of enemies working together for a common goal. The Jason and Salim storyline was the strongest part of the game anyways, plus the prologue was all about enemies needing to work together (Kurum and Balathu).
So the changes I’d make would be to the cast. Rachel King would stay since she’s the commanding officer of the Americans and she’s played by Ashley Tisdale. However, instead of Eric King, I’d switch him out with Captain Dar Basri. The two commanding officers would then be forced to work together in the same way as Jason and Salim, creating a narrative parallel.
As for the fifth character, I’d switch out Nick Kay with one of the shepherds who was living nearby (let’s call him Khaled). This is to make sure the cast is balanced since we have two members representing the Americans and two members representing the Iraqi Army. Khaled is a neutral protagonist who’s afraid of both the Americans and the Iraqi Army, so when the time comes, they won’t be biased to a specific side.
So with these changes, the main cast would be this:
1) Rachel King, commanding officer of the U.S. Marines
2) Jason Kolchek, U.S. Marine
3) Dar Basri, commanding officer of the Iraqi Republican guards
4) Salim Othman, Iraqi Republican guardsman
5) Khaled, shepherd who is neutral to both the Americans and Iraqi Army

i love how you did dar's eyes!! it gives him an intense angle!
thank you, haha. it just sorta felt suiting to give him narrowed eyes, while salim’s are more wide, round. it was like an attempt to kinda play on their respective goals/personalities.
funny thing is that almost each time, when dar is appearing, you can hear the ‘weapons of mass destruction’ track playing in the background lol. it’s prob one of my fav tracks in the game too. like, it has such a desertish/creeping feeling to it. and it suits dar, esp since in the beginning he’s more of a shadow in the corner of your eyes, when you play as the americans. he’s pretty persistent in stalking/trying to kill you.
like overall, the narrative-wise, salim is the only one, who can connect with him / see a bit of a different side to dar. but it doesn’t change the fact, that captain basri is programmed to be pretty much salim’s ‘bad life coach’ as much as he is programmed to be a threat to the rest of the protagonists.
