Part 4 of timinette siblings with Kon and Bart coming over and bonding?
Maybe they were on an off-world mission of something and they video-called him
A second Anonymous person asked: If you make a part 4 (you do not have to) for the sibling Tim and Marinette, I think its time we see some protective big brother Tim moments don't you think? Stepping in when he spots a guy crowding his sister to suing Lila and Alya when he discovers the bullying, and the blog. Helping Mama Sabine bring evidence to the school board over the mistreatment of Mari, maybe his reaction to hearing Damien calling Mari a 'harlot' or 'tramp' (Tim totally goes to Luka for 'how to be best big bro' advice)
So I’ve decided to put them together. Enjoy!
Siblings Don’t Stand Back and Watch, They Always Get Involved
First <> Previous
Tim absolutely ADORED his sister.  She had done so much for him and he could never thank her and her their parents enough.  Tim had gone from hating who he was and feeling like a tool to be used and tossed away to knowing that he was loved and needed not for his intellect and what he could give, he was needed because he existed and they enjoyed spending time with him.  They were all so supportive of him and his choices, and he almost cried when they said it was okay if he didn’t want to talk some days and just silently stayed with him. No interrogation, no forceful tactics, not even a hint of manipulation, they just loved and cared for him.
He had explained all of this to Cass during a lunch they had together while Marinette was at school.  She had smiled brightly at him and said,
“Happy for you Little Brother.  They good for you.”
Her tone was gentle and he could hear and feel the joy and love that she felt for him.  Once he was finished retelling everything that had happened since they had seen each other in person he asked her about her time in Hong Kong and about all of the different things she had done and learned there.  He loved the way her eyes lit up as she signed out all of her experiences.  The way she moved her hands with such excitement and the swiftness showed just how much she loved the new city she called home.
After they finished their lunch Cass asked if they could surprise Marinette at school.  Now that Tim thought about it, he’s never actually been to Marinette’s school before, and it had been months.  He quickly nodded and they headed to Collège Françoise Dupont to surprise their little sister at her school.  Once they got close enough to the school they could hear a loud commotion which worried Tim.
“Look at Maritrash!”
“Where are your bodyguards now, huh?”
“Not so invincible now, are you?”
“I can’t believe she would do that to Lila!”
“What happened to the sweet girl we once knew?”
Tim and Cass made eye contact for a moment before both rushed through the crowd and through the school in search of the small bluenette.  He had heard things here and there about how cruel some of the people here could be, heard about the girl that could twist anything, but it seems that it was extremely downplayed if this was what was happening during their lunch hour.
They shoved their way toward the center of the gathered mass of students to see Marinette in the center, food completely covering her, and every time she took a step toward the crowd in hopes of an opening to escape, she was pushed back and something else was thrown at her.  And near the center watching what was going on with a face full of sorrow, but eyes full of gleeful malice and Tim snapped.
“Marinette!”
He yelled while rushing towards her which caused her gaze to snap towards him.  He quickly pulled her to his chest which caused her to start shaking, her breath spiking slightly, his shirt becoming damp.  He needed to get them out of Paris and quickly before Hawkmoth got the opportunity to use her rightful emotions against her.
“Cass, I need you to call Kon.”
He yelled over the cacophony of people yelling and shouting profanities toward him.  He couldn’t focus on that right now though, he had to stay vigilant and protect his sister.  She was priority number one at the moment.  He wondered where the others were, but then recalled that Chloe, Adrien, and Kagami were on a business meeting with their parents out of the country.  It didn’t help that Kagami and Luka were out in different schools, but that didn’t explain where Juleka was, and he couldn’t find her in the crowd at all.  He could feel things begin to hit him, but that didn’t matter because they weren’t hitting Mari.
Bang
The entirety of the school froze and turned toward where the noise had come from.  Teachers began to pile out of the room with looks of fury and outrage even before they noticed the crowd of students, but once they did their looks made even Tim shiver in fear.
“So you think it’s funny to trap the entire faculty in the boardroom just so you could cause havoc?  Well you’ve all got another thing coming to you.”
The girl with sinister tear filled eyes spoke, clinging to another student.
“M-Marinette did it!  We tried to get her to-to stop, bu-”
“I’ve heard enough from you Rossi!  After a similar stunt was pulled we were able to get the camera footage sent directly to our phones, we know exactly what happened, and so will your parents.”
At that the girl paled, and Tim felt a vindictive satisfaction.  There was a small yank on his sleeve and he looked to the side to see Cass pulling him towards the doors.  Kon must have arrived.
“Hey, I have a few friends that want to meet you.  Follow me.”
He whispered softly into her ear.  She nodded wordlessly and let herself be pulled along as they traveled past all of the students who were still being yelled at by the teachers and staff.  Once they made it to the stairs Kon ran up to them and looked all three of them over, slightly panicked.
“What happened Tim?”
“Can you take us to the tower?  We need to get out of here quickly.”
Tim urgently replied.
“Lila might become Akumatized.”
Marinette murmured against his chest.  Tim ran his fingers through her hair and whispered,
“It’ll be you if we don’t leave now.”
Tim gently pushed her towards Kon and looked him directly in the eye,
“This is Marinette, take her first and make sure she’s safe.”
Kon nodded and waited till Marinette came towards him before he picked her up and left.  Tim slowly clenched his fists and took in long slow breaths before relaxing them again.  He needed to be level headed right now, he needed to tell their parents about what happened.  Sabine had told him all about how she, Tom, and many other parents protested against the school to the school board and how, because of that, the school had gotten new administration and a stricter zero-tolerance policy.  They needed to know about this.
Cass placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, grounding him, keeping him present.  He carefully placed his hand atop hers, taking one last calming breath before giving her a small nod.
“I need to go tell Tom and Sabine about what’s happening.”
Cass gave a serious nod and once Tim released her hand they made the quick walk to the bakery.
To say Sabine was upset would be the understatement of the century, she was enraged.
“I knew it!  I knew that it wouldn’t be enough.  We are either transferring to homeschool or to a new school completely.  Kagami said that the school she attends gives out scholarships, I just know Marientte would be able to get one with her designs.  She is never going back to that Hell Hole ever again!”
Sabine yelled as she paced anxiously around the apartment flat.  She made a quick turn and looked Tim directly in the eyes, her face softening as she did so when Tim flinched back.
“Sorry dear.  Thank you for saving Marinette.  Please make sure that she’ll be okay for us.”
Tim nodded.
“Of course.  You’ve all helped me so much, and I’d do anything for her.”
Sabine pulled him into a tight hug that he quickly returned.
“I’m so proud of you Tim.  You truly are one of the greatest souls to be on this Earth.”
Tim could feel his eyes water, but he quickly pushed them back feeling Cass’s gaze on the two of them.  He could feel the soft smile she was sending the both of them.  Sabine pulled away a few moments later only to leave a gentle kiss to his temple.
“Tell Marinette that she can stay with your friends as long as she would like.  It will take some time for me to complete the transfer process, but it will happen.”
Tim nodded, his eyes showing a determined fierceness.
“Of course.”
Tim felt his phone buzz.  Kon was back.
“Be safe.  I love you Tim, and please tell Marinette that I love her too.”
Tim nodded shyly, still unused to the open shows of affection.
“I will.”
A pause.
“I love you too.”
It wasn’t the first time he had told them that, but the words still felt foreign on his tongue.  Sabine softened a little more, placing one last kiss on his temple before she stood up and left.  And with that, Cass and Tim left the small apartment to meet Kon who was waiting for them right outside.
“How is she?”
Tim immediately asked.  Kon stared at Tim in shock, his heartbeat was through the roof.
“She was very distraught, but Cassie is taking care of her right now.”
Tim let out a sigh of relief.
“That’s good, Cassie should be able to help her.  Alright, I need you to take us.”
Kon raised a brow, he had so many questions, but from the panicked look on his friend’s (practically brother’s) face, he knew that he wasn’t going to get them until this was resolved.  He bent down slightly, letting Tim climb onto his back before he scooped Cass up and they flew to Titans Tower.
________
Marinette paced around the room like a caged animal.  There was so much that could go wrong, and she was stuck here unable to do anything.  Cassie and Bart watched her with concerned eyes.  Kon had only given them the briefest rundown of everything, saying that this was “a friend of Tim” and that he had asked for him to bring her here.
“She doesn't seem very crash.”
Bart stage whispered as he snacked on a bag of potato chips.  Cassie rolled her eyes at her friend,
“No, she doesn’t.”
Marinette wasn’t paying attention to their words though, she wasn’t even aware that they were talking.  All she could do was listen to the thoughts in her mind telling her that something bad would happen and it would be all her fault.  That because she was gone she would not be able to help or save her people if there was an attack which would make her the worst and most useless hero in the world!  Then she would lose her Miraculous, Chat would demand that she pass on the guardianship because of how irresponsible she was, Tim would abandon her when he realized how useless of a sister she was and-
Warm arms wrapped around her causing her racing mind to pause.
“I need you to breathe Mars, I know you’re scared, but everything is going to be okay.”
Marinette sucked in a deep breath, she wasn’t even aware of how shallow they had been, but now that she thought about it she had been seeing small black dots in the corner of her vision.
“That’s it, you’re doing so good now.  I’d never leave you Marinette, you and the others, you’re the last bit of family I have left.  Even if you weren't, you're still my sister, and that means everything to me.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she needed to fight them back, she couldn’t have strong emotions, those emotions would attract,
“It’s okay to cry now.  You’re not in Paris, if you need to cry I’m right here.”
She heard a door slide closed behind her, they were moving.  When had they even started moving?  Her body was gently moved down and she could feel herself sitting on her brother’s lap, her head resting against his chest letting her hear the steady beating of his heart.
Thump thump,
Thump thump,
Thump thump.
It was a steady rhythm, soothing in more ways than one.  Gentle fingers brushed through her hair and the dam broke as tears fell down her cheeks and sobs wracked her body.  It wasn’t fair.  She had done everything right, she was kind, patient, tried her best not to cause a scene, she forgave others, she helped them even when they didn’t like her, she had done everything right!  So why did they all hate her then?  What had she done, what was so bad about her, what did she do to make others hate her so much?!
“You didn’t do anything.  It’s all on them, you are so good Marinette, far too good.  They don’t deserve you, I don’t deserve you.  But we’re going to get through this, we’re going to do it together.  I’m not going to leave you to suffer on your own, I’ll stand by you, I’ll be your shoulder as long as you need me.”
Marinette clutched onto her brother, letting her hands fist around shirt.  Marinette didn’t know how long they were there, how long she spent ruining his shirt with her tears and snot, it could have been a few hours, minutes, even a day.  Despite that fact, Tim never once left her, always either rubbing her back, running fingers through her hair, humming, whispering comforting words, and just being the comforting presence that she needed.  It made her heart warm and helped to silence the sobs and slow the tears.  Tim loved her, he was here for.  She had Adrien, Chloe, Kagami, Luka, and her parents too.  She wasn’t alone.  Marinette slowly lifted her gaze to stare at her brother where he gave her the softest most loving smile she’d ever seen on him.
“You feelinging any better?”
He asked.  Marinette nodded, wiping the tears away with the back of her hand.  Tim leaned backwards and grabbed a box of tissues from some corner of the room they were in.
“Thank you.”
She whispered hoarsely, using the tissues to wipe her eyes and a few more to wipe her nose.  Now that she was thinking a little clearer she began to look around the room.  A mess would be an understatement, but a pigsty would be an overstatement as well.  She could tell it was a form of organized chaos, papers scattered across the floor, boards covering each of the walls with red strings wrapped around them, pens were scattered everywhere on the desk as well as stacks of manila folders filled to bursting with different papers, and when she looked up there was another board up there, this one was empty though, which was strange.  It kind of looked like her room, except it was mostly paper rather than bolts and scraps of fabric.
“Is this your room?”
She asked, sniffling slightly.  Tim blushed a little in embarrassment as he too looked around his room.
“Yea.  It probably looked a lot worse before.  I have no doubt that one of them was nice enough to clear out all of the trash and coffee mugs.  I’ll be doing the dishes for a month.”
He replied, grumbling the last sentence.  Marinette let out a small hum, leaning into the warmth that was her brother.  So who are your friends?  Tim smiled at that before he let out a long sigh.
“The one that took us here was Kon, he’s the one that we saved from that lab I told you about.  The blonde is Cassandra Sandsmark , though we call her Cassie.  She’s an Amazionian fighter, Wonder Woman’s sidekick, I think you too would get along really well.  Probably too well.”
He mumbled.  Clearing his throat he continued,
“The last one, the one who’s going to absolutely talk your ear off, is Bart.  He’s a speedster from an apocalyptic future that is living here.  So if he says something you don’t know or understand, there’s a high chance we don’t know either.”
Marinette giggled at that, causing time to smile as well.
“Your-er, Mom,”
She snickered again causing him to roll his eyes.
“Mom told me to let you know that she is going to try to transfer you to Kagami’s school.  She’s probably already called her by now to ask her about scholarships and admissions.  I’ll help of course, you deserve the best.”
Marinette sniffled again at that.  She would be leaving her old school then.  It wasn’t technically a bad thing, but it was still a foreign concept in her mind.  That she would be able to leave and escape the cruelty there.  She still had two years of school left and she had a feeling that they would be well spent at Kagami’s school, even if she did have to wear a uniform.  She had once asked Tim why he wasn’t in school, she had learned that he had actually skipped three grades and instead of graduating, like he should have, got an online GED.  He said that it didn’t matter to him since he “was running Bruce’s company before he even graduated”.  Sabine and Marinette had not been thrilled to hear that.
“Can I meet your friends?”
Tim smiled at that, he knew she was just trying to change the subject but he would let it go.  She deserved a break anyways.
“Yea, I can also get you some water since they’ll probably be in or near the kitchen anyways.”
With that marinette slowly stood up, Tim followed after her though he stretched his legs first before he opened his door and began his tour of his home-away-from-home.
__________
Tim watched from the sidelines with a smile as he watched his friends/family talk with Marinette.  He had no doubt that they would all get along, but it was still a relief and a weight off his shoulders to truly see it happening.  He watched Kon whisper something in her ear, Marinette glanced at him for a second and Tim felt nervous.  The next thing he knew Marinette burst out laughing and Tim was blushing despite the fact that he had no idea what was said.  He glanced over at Kon to see if he could get a hint of whatever story he was telling but only got a sly smirk and sideways glances from a chuckling Cassie.  He didn’t know if he wanted to know what story they told her.  They had so many stories, most of which he didn’t even remember due to his sleep deprived state that it was frankly concerning.  For him at least, they seem to enjoy holding these stories over his head whenever they need something.
Slowly, Tim approached the group, his family, and hesitantly asked,
“What exactly did I miss?”
Kon shook his head and placed a finger to his lips, smug smirk still firmly in place.  Marinette’s eyes glittered with mirth as she followed suit and shook her head.
“Sorry Tim-Tam, can’t say.”
“And why not?”
He asked, crossing his arms and lifting a brow to look at all of his team members.  Bart zipped right next to him, causing a small breeze in the room before rushing out,
“It’s a secret story.  Maybe one day you’ll be able to find a way to unlock it in one of your side quests.”
Cassie snickered as Tim pouted.  He honestly hadn’t played one of his open world adventure games in a while.  He mostly played any version of UMS with Marinette and her their family. Tim sighed, dropping his hands to his side casually enough as Bart placed an arm around his shoulders.  He could tell that there was some sort of trap here, they were holding out on something but he couldn’t tell what yet.  The kitchen was clean (that was a first); Kon, Cass, and Cassie were all gathered near Mari; and there was nothing that could be considered suspicious on the counters.  There was just a bag of flour, one on his side of the counter and one in hers.
…….
Oh no.  Tim could tell that Marinette knew that he figured out what she planned to do.  So with almost inhuman speed she lord the bag and threw a handful of it at Tim.  He quickly closed his eyes as the dusted wheat hit him square in the face.  Quickly reaching for his own bag he began to throw flour at her, only missing and hitting Cassie instead.  The fight went on for a while, everyone getting involved until they were all white as ghosts.  Marinette and everyone else was laughing, he knew that this was her idea. Probably revenge for the last time he initiated this same kind of fight.  It was worth it though.  She was happy, she wasn’t worried about a thing, and hopefully she can accept his friends.  Let them be a part of their small found family.  Tim never liked standing on the sidelines before.  But just watching her, seeing her happy like this even if it wasn’t fully him that made her smile like that.  Maybe he could make an exception for his dislike, but only if he could see her like this more often.

Hi, my friend is asking why there are so many maribat fics, and especially with DamiMari.
Maybe you know about the history of these crossovers in Batman Fandom?
Hi!
(Fellow Maribat fans, feel free to add your own commentary or correct any of my mistakes.)
So @/ozmav created the Damian x Marinette ship in 2018, I think? It was just a fun little crossover that blew up and became really popular. I was not around either of those fandoms at the time, so I'm not sure about all the details.
Daminette was the first Maribat ship created, so it was around the longest, and thus accumulated the most works.
Eventually, the other Bat Boys got their own ship, and now the Maribat (or now, more technically, DCxMLB) fandom has so many more ships and crossovers -not necessarily between the Bat/MLB main characters.
Some rarepair ships (any DCxMLB ship not between one of the four main Bat Boys and Marinette) include Konette (Conner Kent/Superboy and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Timdrien (Tim Drake/Red Robin and Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir), to name a couple.
The Maribat fandom also crosses over with multiple fandoms, like DPxDCxMLB or MCUxDCxMLB.
Some pure MLB and DC stans definitely dislike Maribatters, especially during the beginning of the fandom, when the tags for both fandoms were cluttered with DCxMLB content. Now that it's grown so much and has its own tags, I think the hate has calmed down somewhat. (Although, I prefer to keep out of fandom drama, so I may simply have missed the hateful discourse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.)
Overall, the Maribat fandom has really grown from a crack ship to its own large, well-populated community. There are tags on Ao3 and many discord servers, which runs events such as "Jasonette July" and "Maribat? Get In! [a server] Civil War".
On a personal note:
As to my thoughts on the ships themselves, my favorites are Daminette (Damian Wayne/Robin and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Jasonette (Jason Todd/Red Hood and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug). It's always fascinating to rotate a character or ship in your head like a rotisserie chicken, considering their Canon and Fanon traits and then exploring them in whatever medium you choose (my medium of choice is writing fanfiction).
For Daminette, the ship you specifically asked about, I am drawn to it because I find the differences between the couple adorable. I personally have a fondness for the Grumpy x Sunshine trope, a Tsundere male lead, and relationship/character growth. (Of course, sometimes it's nice just to read a cute 500 word drabble with no plot, no specific dynamics, and no development, where the couple is just cute and happy.)
I think that is one of the beauties of Maribat. With so many various ships and characters to choose from, there's something for everyone, and we can all bond over belonging to the same fandom(s). Some of us have joined from the MLB side, some from the DC side, some just got dragged in by a friend and have no knowledge of either fandom, and that's okay! With so much to explore in both fandoms, there is constantly new content* being made with love (and tears. And laughter, both evil and joyful. And hornin-).
I've made some of my best friends through this fandom, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
I hope this helps, and I apologize if my ramblings detracted from my answers!💜
*Yes, I am aware of the popular Tropes such as "Akuma Class Trip to Gotham" and "Long-Lost Wayne".

Kon: Hey… You know I love you right?
Marinette: You better.
Kon: So I only mean the best when I say this.
Marinette: *raises eyebrow*
Kon: But isn’t that…a lot of chocolate?
Marinette: *looks at every kitchen countertop full of some sort of chocolate treat* I don’t see your point. This is a regular amount.
Kon: I really don’t think it is…
Marinette: Hey this is *your* fault
Kon: *puts hands up in surrender*
Dick: *enters room* Oh…well… I know I asked for treats… but this is not what I meant…
Marinette: Don’t be so self-centered. This is all for me.
Dick: Seriously?
Marinette: *gives him an amused smirk*
Dick: You had me for a second there
Jason: *enters room* Oh wow…is that for me? *points to a tray of pain au chocolat*
Marinette: It is
Jason: Thanks Pixie
Duke: *walks in room. Turns around and walks out*
Tim: *enters* what’s up with him? *sees treats* Oh. Can I have some?
Marinette: *shoots a look at Kon*
Kon: Yeah I see why you made so much now. Sorry *kisses cheek*
Marinette: I would forgive you but I know you’re stealing a croissant behind my back after I told you not to touch
Kon: *drops croissant and backs up with hands up sheepishly*
Marinette: *rolls eyes and pulls him down into a kiss*

Have you ever thought of writting a Maribat story where the dc character paire with her uses a miraculous? Like Dragon!Damian, Fox or Rooster!Jason, Goat!Roy, Eagle!Dick, Dog!Tim or Rooster!Con?
Totally have. I even made some concept Art for it but it got scrapped when I got other ideas. Might Start to work on it again tho
Basically Damian got the fox because of his creativity, Dick got the Snake because he always gives second Chances (heh), Jason got the peacock because he's an emotional Mess and Tim got the Horse because he fucking can xD
Bruce would later have to take a Miraculous too though I can't decide the Dragon or the turtle (or the pig. Yk, just to spite him)
If I'd have to give Roy and Conner a Miraculous too I'd give Roy the Tiger and Conner the Bee or the Mouse (imagine many little Superboys lol)

Stab or be Stabbed
I’m SO sorry this took so long! This has literally been sitting half completed in my doc for nearly a year now. I finally revisited it, and I then needed to make lots of changes because I didn’t like it anymore. But here it is, so please enjoy!
If you're still willing to take story ideas, I got one! Ra's and Talia are up to no good again and try to create a new heir with some leftover DNA of Bruce's. Only they don't have enough to make a male heir. Little Marinette does her best to please them during her years with them but things changed when the League base she's in is attacked and she's found by her other family, aka the batfam. "I'm gonna be Pixie's fav! Bet." "She's of my blood Todd! I am." is said once home
Damian had failed, he was flawed and easily swayed.  They needed to restart, they needed a new heir that would not and could not be so easily turned against them.  They still had some of Batman’s genetic material, but it wasn’t enough for a male heir.  Instead, they got a female heir with Bruce’s hair and eyes while she had Talia’s bone structure and facial features.  Ra’s was very disappointed when he found out, but he would make sure that she would be the perfect heir for The League of Assassins.  In the end, her gender did not matter, only the greater purpose she would serve.
Marinette was forced to train more and harder than Damian ever had.  Not that she knew who Damian was, in fact she didn’t even know that Talia was her mother.  She was raised by her weapons master Sabine Cheng; which meant that she always had to be on guard in case a stray knife tried to find its way into her gut or head.  It could have been worse though, it could have been poison master Omar.  She shivered at the thought; none of his students had lasted more than three months before they either died or deemed worthy enough to continue on their training.
Marinette was moved around a lot between Nanda Parabat, Lazarus Island, and Infinity Island.  She was trained in the coldest parts of the mountains, the hottest parts of the islands, she was even trained under the water.  She was trained barefoot, in heavy armor, in loose clothing, Talia made her learn to fight in dresses, and sometimes she was even forced to train fully naked; she hated that training most of all.  She was trained with every weapon imaginable: guns, swords, canes, throwing knives and needles, bladed fans, hand to hand, bo staff, etc.  The training that she hated the most was that of heightening her pain tolerance, but Talia and Master Cheng said it was of utmost importance that she go through it.  Afterall, she would need to learn how to stay silent no matter the cost if she was ever taken by someone with ulterior motives.
Marinette had many scars depicting her battles and failures, and it wasn’t until she was 8 that her true test came.  She had been transported to Infinity Island to undergo her annual desert/jungle survival training where currently, she was hidden under the dark canopy of the rainforest as her training started as soon as she stepped off the boat.  Suddenly, she saw people fall out of the sky from something invisible which triggered the scheming part of her mind. Marinette had hidden weapons all around the jungle in case her masters sent assassins to try and track her again.  It looks like she would now be using those weapons to defend her island as a whole rather than purely herself!
Quietly she crept around and watched as the people in dark suites with strange symbols stared at each other, communicating without saying a word.  There were 5 people: a blonde girl with long blonde hair in a ponytail carrying a bow and a quiver of arrows strapped to her back.  A dark skinned man markings swirled around his arms.  A tall muscular black-haired man with a dark t-shirt with a bright red ‘S’ in a red triangle in the center.  A green skinned alien with fiery red hair (she’d need to be extra weary of her).  Finally a muscular yet lean man with a completely black suit with a dark blue bird centered on his sternum that spread out behind the back of his suit.  The last man set alarm bells ringing through her mind.  Mistress Talia had warned her about him.  She had ordered her to stay as far away from him, and a few others similar to him, as possible at all times.  She was told that he would kill her if he ever caught sight of her, that he wouldn’t rest until he had caught her, and she could under no circumstances fall into death’s hands.
She made slow steady steps back, she would have to tell her headmaster that invaders were on the island.  She made sure her steps were light and that her path was clear so she would not step on anything that would give her away.  But she always kept her sights on the people, and when she had to look back for just a second because she heard a rustle in the trees, they were all gone.
Marinette cursed silently as quickened her steps as she ran towards the sanctuary.  She had to warn the base leaders!  If she didn’t get there in time and they found out she knew, they would send her back to the basement.  She hated the basement!  It was dark and the screams echoed everywhere, and someone in the dark always hurt her and she never knew who!  She could still feel the sharp bite of a blade digging into her skin or the flames that bit her feet, and if she cried it would become so much worse!  Master Cheng said she had it easy, she said that other people would do worse to her if things were different, even if she didn’t know what that meant.  All the kids she saw on missions, they were just better at hiding their pain, and wasn’t that humiliating?!  Random children who were never trained by anyone were better at hiding their pain than her.  And despite the pain they must have all been in they were still so happy!  She was pathetic, but she would be better, she had to be!
As she ran something, or rather someone, dropped in front of her in a stance that showed they were ready for a fight.  Marinette glared and gripped at the dagger she had unburied from a nearby bush when she had first seen the people drop from the sky.  It was the man that Mistress Talia warned her about, the man that was going to kill her if he ever laid eyes on her!  But maybe she could kill him before he killed her.  Yes, that’s exactly what she would do!  She would defeat him and show Mistress how strong she is and that she is a worthy opponent.
The man’s body seemed to freeze for a second, and that was the only weakness she needed as she launched into her attack.  The man recovered from his shock and quickly dodged her strike.  His face was covered in a deep frown, and she couldn't help but wonder what his eyes looked like as they were covered by a black white-lensed mask.  Did they look at her with fury, hunger, disgust, malice?  He seemed… hesitant, which confused her as it didn’t make sense with how Mistress Talia had described him.  It didn’t matter though, because that would just make this victory so much easier to obtain.  She let the wind help guide her movements so that she would be able to gain more velocity at an accelerated pace as she gracefully let her body fall into the motions of battle like she had been trained to.  He seemed to move just as swiftly as her though, always just avoiding her, and that’s when it hit!  This was a distraction, he was just keeping her from alerting her masters!  She needed to find an opening to warn The League right now.
So she launched again, but instead of attacking like the man predicted as he moved out of the way, she kept moving forward towards the base.  She moved through the path in seemingly random patterns, hoping that it would throw the man off her trail.  She had thought she had gotten ahead and lost him, but when she was just meters away she felt arms encircling her waist and moving her high into the treeline.  She struggled throwing her fists up, proud when she heard the person holding her grunt as she made contact with what must have been their lower jaw.  She used the slight distraction of the pain inflicted to draw her dagger and stabbing it into where she believed the invisible being’s forearm was located.  She watched as red bloomed seemingly out of nowhere, the arms around her letting go as the person screamed in pain.  Marinette caught herself from fully falling down the tree, catching herself as she swung from the branches.
It didn’t take long for her to make it to the base after that, even shorter for her to find a patrolling assassin once she had made it to the fortress.
“Where are Lady Shiva and Mistress Cheshire?!  There are intruders on the island, and we must warn them post haste!”
Marinette commanded, watching for movement in the corner of her eyes.  She was pleased when the assassin let her in immediately rather than ignoring her request like many had in the past.  She watched the assassin ring the alarm and once that was done she went to search for her current trainers.
She found Lady Shiva first, where she quickly reported everything that she had seen and everything that had happened as soon as she had noticed the mysterious people.
“You did well Marinette.  You will receive a just reward for your actions, now wait here until I return for you.”
Marinette wanted to fight back, to say that she should be allowed to fight the intruders with everyone else.  But she knew the consequences of questioning or disobeying a direct order, and it wasn’t worth it.  Placing her fist to her chest she bowed her head and said,
“Of course my Lady.”
And with that she was left alone in the large study only being able to listen to the fight and imagine herself in it rather than participate in it herself.
It must have been hours as the sun had slowly begun to let a few of its rays shine through the small window on the far left side of the room, but it didn’t matter.  She had followed orders, and the base had finally begun to quiet which meant that someone should be retrieving her soon.  She could hear the steps before the door opened, but they were unfamiliar to her.  Quickly she hid behind the desk, gripping a throwing knife in her fist.  The door was pushed open and the person entered, and despite her curiosity, she didn’t dare to move, she barely allowed herself to breathe at this moment.  The person began to creep around the corners of the room allowing Marinette to see the reflection of the person through one of the many mirrors at the wall.  It was Mistress Cheshire.  But something was…off.  Not only was the sound (specifically the fact that she was making sound) and pattern of her footfalls different than usual, but there was the fact that if she allowed herself to make noise she would have been either mocking or gloating by now.  She only stayed silent when she was stalking, and it was obvious she wasn’t doing that, which meant that this person was an imposter.  Which meant that the intruders had breached the base!
Marinette would only have one chance to get this right, one chance to avenge her fallen comrades, one chance to rid of this imposter, and she needed to take it.  Through the mirror she continued to watch the imposter, waiting until she was closer, closer, closer, and then the opening came.  The imposter was a few feet from the desk and her back was now turned away from her.  With silent grace Marientte let herself stand to her full height and silently threw the knife.  The intruder suddenly turned, as if they could sense her, but it was too late.  The dagger meant to hit the middle of the person’s back was now embedded in their sternum letting out a cry of pain.  Marinette watched, expressionless.     She watched as Lady Cheshire slowly faded back into the martian that had tried to grab her before.  She must have some sort of fast healing ability, which meant she would need to act quickly.  She watched as thick drops of red dripped from the wound.  The red ran down the knife like a small steam as it dropped from the tip of the hilt to the cold stone floor.
The thought of taking her dagger back, ripping it from the martian, crossed her mind, but the reward of it wasn’t worth the risk.   She still had many more weapons located on her person anyways.  So on quick feet she fled the room, or at least she attempted to until the large muscular man stepped in front of her path, the look of pure rage written all over her features.  Marinette could feel a shudder rip through her spine at the unadulterated malice that showed through him, but Marinette knew better.  She just needed to find an opening and escape.
“You.”
The man growled, it almost didn’t sound human.  But Marinette wasn’t cowed.  The man was far bigger than her, but that meant that she would have an easier time dodging his blows as it would take more effort to train his attacks specifically on her.  While he’s in the middle of an attack, or even recovering from one, she should be able to easily slip by.  There were many other hiding places she knew of, places so small only she would be able to fit, places so seemingly insignificant they wouldn’t even think of looking there.
“Superboy!”
A voice yelled from down the hall.  She needed to act now.  :Before she could do anything though, she was suddenly brought to her knees by a seemingly invisible weight with her hands trapped at her sides.  She looked behind her to see that the martian girl was already mostly healed, her knife tossed aside with blood still dripping off of it.  Marinette tried to fight through the invisible force, but it was useless as the rest of the entire group formed around her.
So this was how she died.  Ra’s and Talia would be so disappointed in her.  She had tried her best to avoid them, had done everything in her power to escape while still being useful.  But it was all for not.  She wouldn’t die with her head lowered though, she wouldn’t die with tears running down her face, she wouldn’t give them the satisfaction.  So as they looked at the other, still somehow communicating with each other with nothing but seemingly their eyes, she kept her head held high.  She watched as the man with the bright blue bird slowly bent down to her level, hands raised seemingly in surrender.  That threw her off.
“Hey there.  You put up quite the fight there.  Can you tell me your name?”
Marinette glared at the man, he must be taunting her.  There was no way he didn’t already know it when he so desperately wanted her dead.  So instead of answering the question she spat at him, almost letting her scowl turn into a smirk as the spit landed against his forehead causing him to frown in annoyance.  The man quickly wiped the spit away putting up a too sweet smile.
“That’s alright, you don’t have to answer right now.”
Right now was the cue, he expected her to tell him eventually.  That wouldn’t be happening though, she doubted that admitting her name would lead to anything good.
“We’re gonna have to take you with us now.”
Marinette bared her teeth at that, trying once again to fight through the invisible force holding her down.  She wasn’t sure if the weight was a mental black, so just in case it was she let some of her worst memories go through her mind.  Letting the pain she felt, the sound of echoing cries, the humiliation of those experiences wash through her.  Slowly the weight around her began to fade confirming her theory.  A few moments later the weight was completely gone, but with that gone the man who was talking to her quickly replaced it, holding her wrists above her head as he let his full weight fall over so that she couldn’t even budge.
“This place is awful.”
The martian said in a horrified whisper as she stared at Marinette, tears in her eyes.  It looked like she was looking at her with something akin to pity, and she hated it.  The man quickly grabbed onto both of her wrists with only one hand while the other went to a pocket on his belt.  Marinette struggled to escape, to find some room that would allow her some sort of advantage, but she was never able to find it.  She watched as the man brought out a small syringe and brought it to her neck.  She continuously tried to twist away from it, but someone held her head down.  Tears of fear filled her eyes no matter how hard she tried to hold them back.  She didn’t want to die, she wasn’t ready to die yet!  But what she wanted didn’t matter because the needle was stuck into her neck and the substance pushed into her blood.  A different type of invisible heaviness filled her, one that she couldn’t fight back with her memories, one that she would not be able to escape from because she was already asleep. ___________
Marinette’s eyes felt crusty and groggy.  She must have fallen asleep in the trees again.  Her throat was dry, and her head felt a little too slow.  She didn’t like that.  What she liked even less was the fact that there were other, unfamiliar voices above her.  With that she quickly shot up, looking for a weapon on her that wasn’t there.  If that didn’t make her feel like she was about to suffocate she didn’t know what would.  There were hands on her shoulders trying to push her back down, but she wouldn't let them.  Not killing her when they had the chance was their biggest mistake.
“As your older brother I command you to calm down!”
A distinctly male voice harshly commanded her.  She wouldn’t have stopped fighting, but the “older brother” part threw her for a loop making her pause for only a moment.  Once that moment passed she was back to struggling for her freedom.
“What on Earth are you boys doing?!”
An older, more British voice, spoke loudly as if he were chastising children.
“Now you back away from the young miss right this instant.  I know for a fact you boys would not wish to be awoken this way if you woke up somewhere new with people you’ve never met.”
The air around her shifted as the people around her seemingly moved away.  Slowly Marinette tried to catch her breath, her eyes clearing from this mist that was created in her blind panic.  She was in a medical area as she was laid on a cot surrounded by different types of medical equipment.  There were five men in the room with her, setting her on edge.  Her skin itched as she desperately wanted a dagger or weapon, anything would do at this point to cease the incessant nakedness she felt despite the fact she was fully clothed.
She studied the men but only recognized one of them, the one who had drugged and kidnapped her.
“You.”
She growled, her voice thickly accented.  Usually she would be able to hide her Arabian accent far better, but the drug was still running its course through her system causing her brain to be slower, even with the adrenaline.
He was unmasked now, and was wearing casual clothing that she had seen others wear in her missions.  But she could now see his eyes, and instead of them holding some sort of gleeful cruelty, they showed sympathy and…worry?  It didn’t make sense…
She looked at the others, the man next to him reminded her of the muscular man she had seen with other man, but it couldn’t be.  This man was slightly taller, his hair shorter, face more scared and sharp edged, his eyes were also greener.  It reminded her of Ra’s eyes after he bathed in the Pit.  That thought made her want to shiver, so she quickly moved on to see a boy that looked like he hadn’t slept in a week.  He didn’t appear to be the greatest threat to her at the moment so she moved on.  They locked eyes, and Marinette couldn’t really think.  He looked, but it couldn’t, but had the same, but surely Talia would have told her, but if he was here with the people Talia warned her about she doubted that she would tell her.  Marinette couldn’t take her eyes off of him.
“I am Damian, we took a DNA test while you were asleep.  I am your brother.  If you do not believe me, here is the proof.”
He said while carefully handing her a small tablet.  And there it was, she tried to check for any signs that this was fake, a trick.  Was it hacked, was it photoshopped, was it all an illusion.  But it wasn’t.
“I’m Marinette.”
“Do you know your last name?”
Damian asked, brow raised as surly she would know her status.
“I was told that I must earn the knowledge of my last name.  I have not done that yet.”
Damian nodded as if he understood.  Maybe he had to do the same, afterall, Talia had told her that other people lived worse lives than she did, punished worse than she.  She wondered what he must have gone through, what these people put him through.
“What did you do to earn your name?”
She whispered, so transfixed on the eyes that looked exactly like Talia’s but had the same shape and features of her own.  She was so transfixed that she hadn’t even noticed him coming closer and bending down before her.  She blamed the drug for that because was always much more aware of these things.
“I was forced to kill all of the dragon bats, but thankfully one survived.”.  He lives with us now.”
He said with sorrowful regret.
“If we truly are related, does that mean that we share the same surname?”
Marinette asked, filled with both hope and suspicion.  She noticed from the corner of her eye that another man had entered the room.
“Yes.  Your last name in the League would have been al Ghul.”
Marinette gasped in shock, truly she had not been expecting that.  She was an al Ghul, she was Ra’s granddaughter, Mistress Talia’s daughter, or maybe mistress Nyssa’s daughter.
“Your last name here is a better one, one I doubt they ever told you about.”
Marinette didn’t understand what he meant.  She should only have one last name, shouldn’t she?
“Your last name here is Wayne, and it is a far better name to carry.  One that you should be proud to wear as it holds far more worth than al Ghul ever will.”
Marinette glared at him, wishing that she had some sort of weapon to rip out his traitorous tongue, but she didn’t and anything that she could have used in this room as a weapon was removed far away from her reach.  They were smarter than she gave them credit for.
“Say that again and I’ll find a way to kill you in the slowest and most painful way I know possible.”
A high pitched whistle sounded behind them, where she looked up to see the tall muscular man smirking.
“She really is your sister.  It’s a shame that I’m going to be her favorite brother.”
The man said arrogantly.  Damian scoffed and rolled his eyes.
“As if.  I am her blood brother, I shall be her favorite.”
Damian declared haughtily.
“Bet.”
The man who kidnapped her declared with a playful smirk on his face.
“I’m the one who rescued her, so I must be her favorite.”
The man who had just walked in sighed heavily.  He was the second oldest after the older man watching from the sidelines.  She studied him and his features felt familiar, but it was his eyes that caught her off guard.  His eyes were the same as her eyes, but how was that possible?  Unless…unless this was truly her father.
“Hello sir.”
Marinette said as she bowed her head, addressing the man that might be her father.  The man slowly approached her, taking Damian’s place.
“Hello Marinette, it’s good to meet you, though I wish it was under better circumstances.”
He said softly, a small smile on his lips.  He looked stiff and awkward, like he didn’t know what he was to do or say.  Marinette didn’t shy away though, she made eye contact and didn’t dare look away.
“Why was I brought here?  I was told that I would be killed if I was caught by you,”
Someone snickered at that in the background, but she ignored them.
“So why am I still alive, why am I not being treated like a prisoner?”
Marinette demanded.  She could tell from all of their body language that they weren’t goin got hurt or attack her.  They were unarmed, at ease, if not just a little tense.
“You are no prisoner here.  In fact we are here to protect you now.  You don’t have to fear any retaliation or purposeful acts of physical malice.  I know you don’t believe me now, but everything will be okay.”
Marinette didn't know how to feel.  Didn’t know what she was supposed to do now that she was surrounded by all of these people, two of whom claim to be her blood relatives.  Marinette didn’t know what was to happen now, but if push came to shove, she would gladly take all of these people out and find a way to return back to the League.  She did not fear these people, and despite the fact that she could tell that they didn’t fear her, she hoped that they would soon come to understand why they should.

Goodbye, Stars
AO3
Prev
Marinette didn’t realize anything was wrong until the day after she first wore the ladybug Miraculous. And then she reached out for her Uncle and her cousins (well, brothers in her eyes). Something that had become second nature for her sent her into a sudden panic. Because she couldn’t feel them. Any of them. They were unreachable, untouchable and she was scared. Because the last time she couldn’t feel one of them, it was Conner. And he was gone. Immediately lunging for her phone, she called Conner, ignoring Tikki completely. The little kwami had only been with her one day, it’s not like they’d understand what she was going through.
“Hello?” Conner says after a few moments, his voice groggy. Marinette immediately sobs in relief. “Mars? Hey, kiddo, you okay?” Marinette takes a breath, ignoring the shaking in her hands as she tries to calm her breathing. Finally breathing a little easier, she frowns.
“Sorry Kon. I just- um, bad dream.” She lies, grateful that whatever it was that let her brothers and Uncle be human lie detectors didn’t work over the phone.
“Really? I thought they were better.” He says, the concern clear in his voice. Marinette gives a short, tense laugh.
“Yeah, yeah I uh, guess it was just a fluke or something. Are Jon and Uncle Clark okay?” She adds, frantically reaching out and trying to find any hint of what her family was feeling.
“They should be. But gimme a minute and I’ll check on them, okay?” He says softly. Marinette tries to say that it would be okay, especially since a glance at her clock reminds her that the Kent side of the family should definitely be asleep right now. Not awake because the strange part of Marinette was suddenly broken. But Conner was already away from the phone. After a couple of minutes of silence, Marinette hears shuffling on her older brother’s side.
“So?” She says softly.
“They’re both fine. So is Lois. Did you need to talk about it?” Conner asks. Marinette immediately shakes her head, then remembers he can’t see her.
“No, I’ll be okay.” She says.
“Are you sure, Mars?” He asks gently.
“Yeah. I’m sure. I’ll call you Thursday.” She promises.
“Fine. But if you need me sooner-”
“I’ll call you. Thanks Conner.” Marinette says, working hard to shove down the panic as she hangs up the phone.
“Marinette? What’s wrong?” Tikki asks softly. Marinette lets out a shaky breath before glancing up at the sky. The stars weren’t visible, but that had never mattered before. She could still hear them, still feel them, if they wanted her to. Staring as hard as she can at the sky, she tries to listen. To hear the stars that were her first friends, her first confidants. The first beings that told her everything, and that she talked to in return. But there was nothing.
“I can’t hear them.” She says quietly, tilting her head as she tries, even harder, to feel something. Anything. “I can’t feel them.” She breathes out, her voice breaking as the tears stream down her face. Her connection to the stars was gone.
---
Marinette frowns at the kwami, trying and failing to understand everything they were saying to her.
“Okay, hold on. Hold on. Because of something that I didn’t even want, I’ve lost something that was extremely important to me?” She asks bitterly. Tikki winces.
“It could come back.” They say timidly. Marinette scowls.
“When? When I’m not doing superhero stuff anymore? What if it’s too late? I’ve already lost Conner once. What if something happens and I don’t know and I can’t help them?” Marinette rambles, trying hard to ignore the panic welling in her chest. “And the stars, they’ve always- I don’t want them to be quiet.” She says. Tikki frowns, and Marinette can feel her heart break even more.
“I don’t know how to fix this for you, Marinette. But I’m almost certain that while you have the ladybug Miraculous, you won’t be able to feel emotions. Or talk to the stars.” Tikki says, their voice soft, probably waiting for Marinette to snap at them again. But she couldn’t bring herself to. All she could focus on was the pain in her chest as she grieved. Some people may think she was silly, grieving the stars. But they’d been her friends for so long. Before she had friends at school, when she had to switch classes and had no friends in her new one, when she was scared to start collège- they’d been there through everything. And now they wouldn’t be. Not in the same way. It hurt. And there was nothing she could do to fix it. Because the only thing that could, potentially, fix it, would be to give up the Miraculous. And as much as she didn’t want to be a hero, didn’t want that pressure on her shoulders, she’d made a promise. To all of Paris. And Marinette always kept her promises.

Me at work having galaxy brain moments: what if Marinettes Bio Dad was Lex Luthor? But not just that but to as a sort of contingency plan, he also mixes her Genes with Superman's effectively making her sorta a clone
(I posted this to Maribat discord and now I must share the chaos)
Wouldn't Mari be a clone?
Sorta. Like she is Lex's bio daughter but while she was in utero he fused/spliced her genes with Superman's. So shes not really a clone clone ya know
And what's hilarious is that while Marinette is like super smart and shit- she doesn't exhibit any kryptonian traits
Her mom's totally a Cadmus scientist and allowed this most likely.
And Ooooh what if she is technically Connors older sister? Like she is 4 when Superboy was created? She was the first attempt at combining supers and lexs genes. To see if it would take. But deemed a failure when she didnt exhibit any traits. But Luthor keeps her around as his hier and possible back up plan cause she shows genius level intelligence
canon wise she would be 2 years older then Damian and 4 years older then Jon.
And Kon meets her briefly when he decides to hang with Lex like in YJ. She is mainly raised by nannies
Superman probably wont know kf her til she is like 12 when Damian comes along to join the bat fam
She is a smart cookie and notices that she and Superboy now Conner share a lot of physical features and straight up asks Lex if she is a clone. He explains that she isn't technically a clone but rather genetically enhanced
She asks when she is 5. And doesnt confront Superman til she is 12 because she finally starts showing kryptonian strength and all that. But not as much as a full/half like Kon and Jon
Literally can see her some how hacking into the JL to do so too. Cause she is her father's daughter and would think hacking the Pentagon is a good practice exercise
Just imagine Hal minding his own business, sipping his coffee while on monitor duty and this little 12 year old girl who looks like an female superboy with bluish hair staring at him from the screen with a bored look that reminds him way too much of Luthor. "I wish to speak with my genetic donor." (Cause she may be a ball of sunshine but that part of her is only for family (mainly Kon cause he still manages to hang out with her)
'Who is your genetic donor"
"Superman or as you know him Kal-El."
Que spit take because fuck another lost child/clone?!
