Sirius as Winter

The longest and darkest nights of the year are the best time for stargazing - observing the twinkling of constellations in the wast black sky. Shimmering glitter-like snow is both soft and cold to the touch. For the wildlife the freezing weather and scarcity of food often are equal with death.

Sirius, with his steely eyes and sharp tongue, seems cold and - like the stars - distant, almost untouchable. While his name means scorching, he burns in the coldest way - just how touching snow, bare handed, burns. His animagus can be mistaken for the grim - a harbinger of death.

The marauders each have a favorite season:

Peter loves winter.

It makes him think of Snowball fights, the holidays, hot chocolate, crunching into the untouched snow, laughing around the fire on a cold night, and snowflakes settling on eyelashes. He doesn’t mind the cold because he tends to run hotter than the rest of his friends and feels cozy in a lot of layers. He has like a million beanies and gloves and will gladly lend them to the others when they inevitably forget their own.

Sirius loves spring.

It makes him think of trees blooming, splashing in puddles on rainy days, leather jackets over hoodies, blowing dandelions to make wishes, fresh flowers, and rolling down the grassy side of a hill. He gets seasonal depression real bad and is so glad to spend more time outside again finally. When he was younger his family used to take them to the cherry blossom festival in Japan every year and it’s still Sirius’s favorite thing to do every year if he can help it.

James loves summer.

It reminds him of family trips to the sea, trying to eat an ice cream cone before it melts all over your hand, biking everywhere, a glass of ice cold lemonade on a hot day, the warm feeling of the sun on your bare shoulders, picnics under the shade of a tree, and water balloon fights. He’s always down to do something outside even if it is objectively too hot outside. When he’s home, he is pretty much always shirtless because he can be, but especially if he’s working or playing outside.

Remus loves fall.

It reminds him of farm fresh apple cider, the leaves turning bright colors, corn mazes, getting to go back to school and see his friends every day, and pumpkin pie. He despises summer because he’s more comfortable wearing long sleeves and full length pants and therefore is always sweaty practically the entire season. He is at his happiest when he gets to break out his knitted jumpers, some hand-made by his mom and some gifts. One his favorite thing is to go apple picking and then go home and make apple pie from his grandmother’s recipe that his mother gave him.
