The regnal name "Amidala" is probably meant to evoke the amygdala, the region of the brain responsible for processing strong emotions like fear.

In other words, Padme's royal name means something like "She Who Strikes Fear". Which makes sense, because Anakin's fear of losing Padme is what leads to his downfall.

There is a connection here to the Germanic mythological legend of Siegfried, particularly its adaptation in Wagner's Ring Cycle operas.

Various SW sources in the wake of the PT mention that Anakin became known as the "Hero With No Fear" during the Clone Wars - a title with deliberate dramatic irony given the reason for his fall. Likewise, in Wagner's operas, the hero Siegfried literally does not know what fear is... until he first sees his true love Brünnhilde, at which point he experiences the physical sensation of fear for the first time.

The Anakin/Siegfried connection goes back quite a ways, in fact.

In Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy, the way the Noghri serve Vader is modeled on the way Siegfried is served by a race of Dwarves whose loyalty he earned in the medieval German legend known as the Nibelungenlied. Confusingly, the epic applies the name "Nibelungs" in the original German to both the Dwarves and to the human inhabitants of the realm of Burgundy, who ultimately betray Siegfried and kill him by stabbing him in the back, rather as Rukh does with Thrawn.

Zahn also admitted that he modeled the giant tree in the room on Myrkr where Luke and Mara Jade first meet on the Branstock from the Norse adaptation of the same legends.

Much like King Arthur's Sword in the Stone, the Branstock tree has a magic sword stuck in it. The sword is retrieved by Siegfried's father Siegmund, whose ancestor Odin put the sword in the tree for him to take up in the first place. But in Wagner's operas, the tree is also the place where Siegfried is conceived, when Siegmund and his sister Sieglinde sleep together incestuously under its branches. (You can proceed to make jokes about both Bran Stark and Jaime & Cersei Lannister. They are entirely deserved.)

Now that you mention it, the Volsung-Nibelung-Dietrich cycle would make a good sitcom if you just focused on the zanier parts. The Nibelung siblings Gullrond, Gunther, Gernot, Giselher, Kriemhild, and (maybe) Hagen, with all their pals. Nephews Dankwart and Patavrid; Gunther's incredibly athletic girlfriend Brynhild and her dog and horse; the Nibelungs' best pal and Brynhild's ex Sigurd, who would be the man you wished your man could be if not his moments of random philosophizing or idiotic life decisions despite knowing what was going to happen; Hagen's best pals, Volker the musician and Walther the nerd; local businessman Rudiger and his sweet, cutesy young daughter; socially maladjusted Dietrich and his gang of pals, who always pop up during hangouts despite nobody inviting them... With less murder and more mayhem, it sure would make a good show!

You know, one thing I will always be irrationally sad about when it comes to the Sigurd/Siegfried cycle and related legends is that... it just never gets any of the wacky, zany, "how tf did you even come up that" adaptations and reimaginings Arthuriana keeps getting.

I mean, sure, you do have adaptations with some humor in it, and different ways to mesh Norse and Continental and even Wagnerian elements, and very different perspectives on the same characters. But Arthuriana really has anything and everything from Disney movies to anime and manga to Monty Python movies and musicals to kids' cartoons to A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court and all its parodies to Young!Arthur/Young!Merlin Slashy Bromance shows to irriverent French sitcoms to loosely-inspired queer YA romance novels to a few recurring and even main characters in "all stories are true" fantasy series like Once Upon a Time or The Librarians. There's even those collector's edition Merlin & Morgana Barbies that were making the rounds on here a while ago!

Meanwhile, the wackiest, less "serious" stuff our Nibelungs get are:

The brief Siegfried & Fafnir cameo in the Mara and the Firebringer movie, where the main mythological figures are actually Loki and Sigyn (can't really say anything about the books, as I haven't read them)

A weird Hungarian (?? iirc??) comedy movie where Siegfried has a talking piglet as his animal companion for some reason and Kriemhild really doesn't like him but she apparently can't just tell him to get lost and stop courting her so she orders Hagen to drive him away from Worms and kill him, which I've only ever managed to "watch" in bits and pieces

The comedic operetta Die lustigen Nibelungen, which I've never managed to find anything about that wasn't in German, so I'm not even really sure what it's actually about

The 70s porn movie The Long Swift Sword of Siegfried, which... tbh, I'd rather stick to fanworks on the nsfw side of things, if the alternative is Siegfried with a pornstache

A Modern/High School AU fantasy romance self-pub I once found where, from what I remember of the summary and excerpt I read, Brunhild is a Mean Girl/Queen Bee who tries to steal Siegfried away from Kriemhild and Hagen is Kriemhild's shitty jealous ex-boyfriend (nothing against High School AUs, or romance novels, or alternative takes on the Kriemhild/Siegfried/Brunhild love triangle, or Hagen/Kriemhild as a ship... but tbh, I'd rather see all those elements handled in vastly different ways XDD)

A couple of old Italian Disney comicbook parodies featuring Donald Duck and his family (but those were mostly Wagner-based, iirc, and then again, an amazing thing about Italian Disney comics is that they will parody literally everything under the sun from the Divine Comedy to Twilight)

... Siegfried (or Sigurd?) showing up in one of the Fate anime series? Or novels? Or games? Not sure. I've only ever watched like two episodes of the Fate/Stay Night anime and then dropped it because I didn't like the normal guy protagonist always rushing to protect his (secretly Fem!King Arthur) supernatural sworn knight just because she was a girl

And... that's it, I think.

And on the one hand, I get it. With Arthuriana, you have adventurous romances and ridiculous (affectionate) quests and so many different bizarre canons and twists on them that even that cartoon where Morgan Le Fay sends an American football team back in time to Camelot (I think that was the plot, at least????) is just another "you know, this might as well happen" situation. I suppose that, at least by comparison, the Nibelungensage & All Adjacent Stuff may appear more grounded and less easy to play with and bring in whatever strange, unlikely new direction you want. Plus, tragic events like Sigurd/Siegfried's death, Brynhild/Brunhild being tricked into marrying a man she doesn't want, and Gudrun/Kriemhild's revenge, or even Dietrich's exile, are just central to it, so that's kind of a downer already, I guess.

... on the other hand, King Arthur's tale literally ends with him and his son killing each other at the end of a bloody civil war. And it's not like anyone's ever had any problem merrily ignoring THAT part to, idk, have everyone in the story be cats.

All this to say, I'd watch the hell out of a Modern AU Nibelung sitcom. Or even just a Nibelung sitcom set in the Middle Ages, or Late Antiquity, or a vague mishmash of the two. The dream for that would be a Galavant-style show with musical numbers and a lot of scenes poking fun at epic and heroic tropes, ngl.

Actually, let's be real: I wouldn't just watch it, I'd probably write fic and make gifs and fanvids for it!

    1-O VOTO NORTEIA O PAÍS. AO FIM E AO CABO, O POVO É QUE MANDA!   O Congresso Nacional arrebentou o cabresto e 26 duplas velozes saíram desembestados abandonando na estrada a carruagem forrada de veludo vermelho acetinado da Alta Corte do país com seus príncipes embasbacados, sem entender o que houve. Um duro golpe no orgulho de cada um. Como se atreveram? Ontem pela manhã alguns poucos registros da imprensa falavam do estrago que a maioria dos senadores e com um agora (será?) corajoso Pacheco haviam provocado no Poder Judiciário especialmente no STF e seu puxadinho eleitoral. O Antagonista trazia em manchete: “Integrantes do STF se sentiram “traídos” ap��s aprovação de PEC” e seguia, “Na visão dos integrantes do Supremo, a aprovação do texto que limita decisões monocráticas do STF foi uma “provocação desnecessária. Integrantes do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) se sentiram traídos tanto pelo presidente do Senado, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), quanto pelo líder do governo na Casa, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), após a aprovação da Proposta de Emenda à Constituição (PEC) que limita decisões individuais dos ministros”. Lembrei Augusto dos Anjos – “A mão que afaga é mesma que apedreja” por entender que a traição só ocorre entre íntimos ou associados... A sofrência maior é de Sêo Barroso, advogado que foi guindado ao píncaro da gloria jurídica tornando-se presidente do STF e que, ainda se acomodando à cadeira e cheio de ideias para consertar o Executivo, a Constituição, o Congresso, a Democracia, o Estado Democrático de Direito, o País, os “manés perdidos” recebeu um petardo pela proa, justo quando estava no timão vendo a carta náutica que previa tempo bom e “Mar de Almirante”. Para integrantes do STF Jaques Wagner destruiu pontes que o governo Lula construía com o Supremo e um deles tem opinião forte: “Não esperem mais que o Tribunal facilite a vida de Lula”. Além de Wagner, caso difícil é o de Pacheco pois os quase futuros colegas - ele era opção para integrar o STF - estranharam seu empenho para aprovar a PEC, tendo até conseguido votos do Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), Daniela Ribeiro (PSD-PB) e Mara Gabrilli (PSD-SP). Vamos meditar com a Raja Yoga. O que ocorreu de tão importante com o “Capacho Pacheco” vestindo a capa de um herói Marvel? Ora, sua coragem era menor que o sub-átomo de alguma coisica, mas o Zema de Minas pediu que ele fizesse uma ponte com Lula e, só para variar, Zema tomou um chá de cadeira do “homi” e se pirulitou. Pacheco sentiu o golpe. Rifado para a vaga do STF, não aguentou as pressões da imprensa, parlamento e claro, de eleitor mineiro que queriam vê-lo lutando de capa e espada pelo estado que deve muito à União e tem Lule e seus agregados querendo pegar esse débito e transformar em crédito e cacife político. Abandonado, ouvindo cobras e lagartos, vendo os “negócios advocatícios” indo para a “Casa do Crica” e percebendo a desconfiança do seu eleitorado, Pacheco capitulou e cresceu, ainda que a contragosto. Afinal é da natureza aguentar o pisoteio e provo com a sua afirmação antes de colocar a PEC em votação: "Não há nenhum tipo de afronta, nem tampouco, nenhum tipo de retaliação, absolutamente. O que nós estamos buscando fazer no Congresso Nacional é o aprimoramento da legislação e o aprimoramento da Constituição Federal para garantir que os poderes funcionem bem", enquanto mantem sob a parte final de sua coluna vertebral os processos de impeachment contra vários ministros do STF e enquanto não se esquece as ordens que recebeu da Corte. É um “sopro pachequista de barata” antes de dar a mordida. Com relação a Jaques Wagner duas leituras: a aprovação da PEC eram favas contadas pois a articulação do Planalto foi pífia. Sem uma boa mão Wagner entregou o jogo saindo maior do que entrou ainda que perdendo um jogo sem chance. De mais a mais, deu um pau no esquerdismo lambe-botas de Rui Costa, Randolfe, Cantarato e Humberto Costa e abriu fretas para seu futuro onde só o poste Haddad tenta alçar voo. No frigir dos ovos para qualquer lado que se volte percebe-se que no Brasil há um novo eleitor mais politizado, que não acredita na velha imprensa ca(*)ando regras pelos jornais nacionais e que vive cada vez mais nas redes sociais interagindo, vendo e ouvindo muito. Para os novos tempos, surgiram as novas armas para as velhas práticas. Como diria Elba Ramalho, “o povo não é besta”. Mas e o STF o que fará? Engolir a seco ou partir para o desforço? Fico com a segunda alternativa. Aliás, Sêo Gilmar, aquele advogado que dá expediente no STF já disse que lá no STF não existem covardes e que os que votaram a favor da PEC são pigmeus morais (ou quis dizer Moraes?) E sobre o Congresso? Acredito que alguém com o rabo preso vai dar uma de João sem Braço e entregar a rapadura e aposto pelas antigas e agora novas ligações – a esposa dele trabalha no STF – em Randolfe Rodrigues. E para não esquecer da Globo, a frase da Globo News foi protocolar, poética, madura e medrosa: “Acabou a lua de mel do STF com Lula.” Esqueceram de citar que para quem deu a presidência a Lula, tudo é possível e o establishment vence. Se o jogo é truco, o Senado tem o Zap mas não sabe usar ou talvez não tenha coragem de usar. 2-O ÚLTIMO PINGO        1-O STF pegou um rebanho de gado humano e socou dentro de duas penitenciárias em Brasília para resolver, punir, multar ou algo do tipo desde o dia 9 de janeiro. 10 meses e tem gado preso sem saber porque e nem os advogados conhecem o processo que mais parece coletivo, dado ao teor das sentenças. 2-No meio desse gado estava um cidadão doente. Ao falar dele e de uma intercorrencia médico-judicial – deve existir isso aí – o Sêo Barroso disse que todo dia morrem quatro presos no país, porém não descreveu o que significa ser um indivídio preso que é o sentenciado julgado depois do processo judicial. Sêo Barroso não disse o nome do preso mas disse que morreu “possivelmente de causas naturais“, contrariando a PGR que havia pedido sua soltura, negada pelo STF, face aos graves problemas de saúde. Acho que o tal pedido entrou no rol daquelas saídas jurídicas para não responder as irrespondíveis: a famosa “perdeu mané”. 3-O STF refez tudo que foi quebrado pelos manifestantes, terroristas, bandidos ou patriotas, de acordo com o gosto do freguês, mas há um cadáver e perdão pela redundância, devidamente morto no salão. Sachsens Handwerk feiert erstklassigen Berufsnachwuchs

02. Februar 2024  -  Neun Erstplatzierte aus Sachsen beim Endausscheid der Deutschen Meisterschaft im Handwerk 2023 -  1. Festveranstaltung in Chemnitz. -  Mit einer Festveranstaltung hat das sächsische Handwerk die besten Gesellinnen und Gesellen des Jahrgangs 2023 geehrt. Im Beisein von Ehrengästen aus Politik und Wirtschaft erhielten die pro Beruf bestplatzierten sächsischen Teilnehmer der „Deutschen Meisterschaft im Handwerk - German Craft Skills" am Freitag in Chemnitz Blumen, Urkunden und Preisgelder in Höhe von 150 bzw. 300 Euro.  Für die sächsische Landesregierung gratulierte Wirtschaftsstaatssekretär Thomas Kralinski (SPD) der Berufsnachwuchs-Elite und wünschte für die Zukunft weiterhin viel Erfolg. „Wirtschaftliche Transformation gelingt nur mit einem starken Handwerk. Die Ausgezeichneten leisten dazu einen unverzichtbaren Beitrag. Ich danke dem Handwerk für sein großes Engagement bei der Ausbildung des Nachwuchses", sagte der Staatssekretär. 

Glückwünsche an die Ausnahmetalente richteten ebenso Handwerkstag-Prä- sident Jörg Dittrich sowie der Beiratsvorsitzende der „Stiftung zur Förderung der Berufsbildung und Innovation im sächsischen Handwerk", Frank Wagner. Beide Handwerksvertreter würdigten zugleich den Beitrag der Ausbilder, Lehr- meister und Berufsschullehrer bei der Heranbildung eines qualifizierten und hochmotivierten Berufsnachwuchses. 

Von den 58 sächsischen Handwerkerinnen und Handwerkern, die sich als Landessieger für den bundesweiten Endausscheid qualifiziert hatten, erzielten im Finale von Europas größtem Berufswettbewerb neun Aktive den Spitzenplatz. Im Einzelnen sind dies:

■  aus  dem Bezirk Leipzig 

Ofen- und Luftheizungsbauer Liam Mechsener, Leipzig — Ausbilder: Ofenbauermeister Wolfgang Parnow, Leipzig. 

Insgesamt waren 2023 in der Finalrunde 900 Landessiegerinnen und -sieger aus allen Bundesländern an den Start gegangen, um sich in mehr als 100 Wettbewerbsberufen (inklusive Fachrichtungen) auf Bundesebene zu mes- sen. 

Von den sächsischen Landessiegern belegten im bundesweiten Endaus- scheid — neben den neun ersten Spitzenplätzen — neun Gesellen einen Platz 2 und drei Gesellen einen Platz 3. 

Hintergrund: Deutsche Meisterschaft im Handwerk — German Craft Skills 

Die 58 an der bundesweiten Finalrunde der Berufsolympiade des Jahrgangs 2023 beteiligten jungen Leute aus Sachsen hatten sich ursprünglich in Regio- nalwettbewerben durchsetzen müssen. Auf dieser Ebene des Berufswettbe- werbs waren im Freistaat insgesamt mehr als 200 junge Mitbewerber ins Ren- nen gegangen. 

Eine wesentliche Teilnahmevoraussetzung war der Abschluss der Gesellen- prüfung mindestens mit der Note „gut". In die Bewertung flossen Arbeitspro- ben und Gesellenprüfungsarbeiten ein. Deutschlands „Wirtschaftsmacht von nebenan" kürt seit 1951 die besten jun- gen Gesellinnen und Gesellen eines jeden Jahrgangs, seit Anfang der 1990er-Jahre auch die im Osten Deutschlands. 

Insofern ist der von Anbeginn mehrstufig aufgebaute Leistungsvergleich auch ein Schaufenster für exzellente Ausbildungsleistungen innerhalb der Wirt- schaftsgruppe Handwerk. Für die Preisträger gilt der Wettbewerb als Sprung- brett für die weitere berufliche Karriere.

Kurt Szardos is an attractive man at any figurative side a person looks, he has power, he has a property and he has a charming personality which makes even easier to fall for him, and of course, is even more heartbreaking when the Karcist leaves you. Many women dream of being his bride, his wife or mistress(not only for the prestige but the man also exhales sexual prowess that makes many wanted to try, well, his fangirls don´t mean the entire female population as Meggan can prove)

So, when Kurt Szardos announces his marriage, something that is really rare in the church, his fangirls are crying over this fact to the point where the name of the bride and location have to be put under classified information until the official day because some fangirls aren´t dealing well with rejection.

Mara Waters (she change her surname) is not dealing well with the fact and is proving her love to Kurt by sheer stubbornness and gear. Somehow, thanks to the right bribery to the right people, Mara can finally see the man of her dreams.

“I’m carrying your child.” is what Mara uses to start the conversation, yet, this does not impress Kurt as he is drinking bloody mary in his goblet and only speak once the goblet is empty.

"You must understand, I hate when people break into my office, even if they do possess persuasion power, to talk or demand something out of me, now as for your line" Kurt is rubbing his nose for a moment "I´d not want to sound rude or perpetuate a cliche, but, I can smell your period from here, miss Waters, and what pregnant woman would drink alcoholic beverage like that?"

Mara is clenching her fists. "Why not me? Why this woman?"

And Kurt raises an arch brown for a moment. "You know her name? Well, I take great lengths to make Kitty´s identity a secret, but, as you know now...it does not matter" and Kurt shows his fangs "Mara Walters, you commited many crimes and as a Head of inquisition is my job to deal with criminals as you"

Later, Kitty is combing her hair a bit nervous as Kurt enters in the room with a great mood as usual. "Katzchen?"

"Oh, you can sense my anxiety, I just keep thinking about your crazy fangirls, when we get married...will they accept this and move on or they will be, you know, crazier?"

"I can´t predict the future, Katzchen, I can say nothing will happen to you while I´m around, you trust me, right?"

"Always, elf, but I can´t help to fear your fangirls a little, I mean, this Mara Waters has a blog where she is wishing me dead even not knowing my name"

"Those people won´t go anywhere in life and can´t hurt you, Katzchen, I promise you that" and he put his hands on her delicate shoulder as her fingers are playing with his. "Thanks elf, I feel better"
