Girls are trying to find a landmark on an abandoned island, that hides treasure.
Luckily at least, Iris has Birra by her side, so she won't get lost. (So anyway, that's a finished Inktober at least for me).

It was a good reading month though. My favorite was my first read of 2024: Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands! Such a wonderful sequel. There really isn't a least favorite of the month; I had some issues with The Night Dance, but I still enjoyed it.
Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett - 5 stars
The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz - 3.5 stars
Three Guineas by Virginia Woolf - 3.5 stars
Yellowface by R. F. Kuang - 4 stars

𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 ... 𝐄𝐍𝐙𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐈 .
Oh, is that LORENZO ENZO’ MORETTI? I heard the TWENTY SIX year old is MAGNANIMOUS. But don’t let that pretty face fool you, they are also WAYWARD. Makes sense seeing how they are an INFORMANT in the SERPENTS gang.
full name: lorenzo ' enzo ' moretti . age: twenty six . date of birth: february 1st. gender: cis male . sexuality: bisexual / biromantic . status: single . positive: loyal, charismatic, kind, extroverted, comforting, attentive, empathetic, romantic . negative: regretful, self-sabotaging, paranoid, pessimist . aesthetics: eyes that seem to read your every thought, ringed fingers clinking against a beer bottle, travelling the whole world but never finding home, heart pounding under the influence of tonight's drug of choice, impulsive propositions that flash like neon signs, the crave of love vs. the crave of chaos.
the morettis thought they were done having kids, with dante and ella rounding out the perfect family. enzo was a mistake, an after thought, and although that felt shit at times - it did grant him a freedom from expectation and legacy.
growing up, he was pretty naive to any disruption that his family caused people. it was just always normal for him, his version of reality completely warped by the luxury he was brought up in.
lorenzo never embodied the same power his father did, or dante. he's more of an understated leader - smart and extroverted, but also a listener and willing to follow and relent if that's what's needed to succeed.
with access to the best education, enzo sailed through school with ease and got a place in columbia university majoring in english language and literature. it was an obvious choice, with enzo's obsession with reading and escape through books. he'd always had an underground dream of being a writer.
although seemingly having his shit together, he's still very much a product of his environment. the untouchable element of his last name leading him to nights spent partying, wasted and high, enjoying the feeling of people around him.
after graduation, enzo travelled for a few years. sometimes solo, sometimes with friends. dart thrown at a map to decide his next destination. he never really felt like he belonged anywhere, not in new york and not anywhere else that he visited. as a romantic, it felt natural that his home would one day end up being a person, instead.
he's been back full time for the past two years, all roads bringing him back to the city. as an informant in the serpents, settling into a routine that his father approved of and rooting himself to one place for the first time in years. his father's death has rocked him, the seemingly untouchable feeling of being a moretti suddenly feeling vulnerable. enzo has been mostly trying to support his mother, and process his grief in a city where his father was a massively controversial figure.
𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒
lorenzo has dozens of journals that he filled in on his travels, detailing the people he met and the places he's been. he's never let anyone look at these.
he's an amazing cook, and will always be willing to make something for the people he loves.
by nature, he's more of a relationship guy than a hook up guy. he's known to get attached, which he likes to avoid because of the vulnerability.
has published poems in anthologies under a pseudonym.
growing up, he always threw a birthday party on the night of 31st jan as a joint ' we made it through the first month of the year ' party.

Literary studies are being transformed today by the expansive and disruptive forces of globalization. More works than ever circulate worldwide in English and in translation, and even national traditions are increasingly seen in transnational terms. To encompass this expanding literary universe, scholars and teachers need to increase their linguistic and cultural resources, rethink their methods and training, and reconceive the place of literature and criticism in the world. In Comparing the Literatures, David Damrosch integrates comparative, postcolonial, and world-literary perspectives to offer a comprehensive overview of comparative studies and its prospects in a time of great upheaval and great opportunity.
Comparing the Literatures looks both at institutional forces and at key episodes in the life and work of comparatists who have struggled to define and redefine the terms of literary analysis over the past two centuries, from Johann Gottfried Herder and Germaine de Staël to Edward Said, Gayatri Spivak, Franco Moretti, and Emily Apter. With literary examples ranging from Ovid and Kalidasa to James Joyce, Yoko Tawada, and the internet artists Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries, Damrosch shows how the main strands of comparison—philology, literary theory, colonial and postcolonial studies, and the study of world literature—have long been intertwined. A deeper understanding of comparative literature’s achievements, persistent contradictions, and even failures can help comparatists in literature and other fields develop creative responses to today’s most important questions and debates.
Amid a multitude of challenges and new possibilities for comparative literature, Comparing the Literatures provides an important road map for the discipline’s revitalization.

Even with the Web being archived, much of what has been written within it and read avidly is likely to be lost in the longer-term: asynchronous discussions, epistolary literatures passing through email, and so on. There will come a point at which a project of quantifying cultural production in any given historical moment will only be able to gesture at a vast Oort cloud of unknown writings, performances, and texts, seeing the gravitational effects of some unseeable and lost Planet X tugging at the knowable and quantified.

Happy Halloween! Any particular favorite candy headcanons come to mind for you? Who are the biggest Halloween fanatics? Any general sugar fiends, even if they aren’t particularly into Halloween specifically?
SORRY BESTIE
When you sent the ask I was already out for the night and then I forgot 😭
You didn't specify who so I'm gonna do the Lucases, Grays and a selection of JBCU characters
It gets a little long
Lucas
Kev - he is indeed a sugar fiend and went trick-or-treating til he was 21. He does a different costume every year and began making his own at 14. He loves his chocolate. His favorite is Twix. He's a left Twix fan.
Joe - he stopped trick-or-treating at 16 but he loves himself a good costume party. Doesn't even have to be Halloween. Especially when after he started dating. He's enjoyed brainstorming couples costumes. He does steak some of Kev's candy every year.
Nick - he hates trick-or-treating. He thinks the whole thing is weird. He did low effort costumes. He does own the "this is my costume" shirt and button.
Frankie - every year he studies which houses give the best candy and maps it out and takes a group of kids on that route. He gets paid in candy. He prefers candy over chocolate but he'll take what he can get.
Stella - she is the QUEEN of Halloween. Making her own costume as soon as she learned how to sew. She starts planning her next costume Nov. 1st. She's not big on candy abd usually gives Joe hers after picking out her favorites. After she and Joe started doing couples costumes she's had the most fun.
Macy - her costumes are usually last minute but always fun. Loves her inflatables and masks and enjoys scaring her friends. She loves her Reece's.
Sandy - goes ALL OUT with decorating the fire house. It's gotten more intense as the boys grow up because they can put their own spin on it and help decorate. Though she's learned to put limits and has to monitor them after Joe put a skeleton with glowing eyes in Kev's bunk one year.
Tom - Tom is in charge of handing out candy
Gray
Jason - he loves dressing up for Halloween and going to parties. Not big on trick-or-treating by himself. He also loves going to scare houses.
Shane - he didn't really care about dressing up for Halloween until he met Mitchie and they started doing couple's costumes.
Nate - he liked trick-or-treating as a kid and enjoyed the parties when he got older. His candy usually last longest throughout the year because he saves it as a stash for when his blood sugar is low.
Mitchie - she loves Halloween and goes all out. She begins planning her costumes in May. She loves the challenge of finding the perfect couples costume with Shane.
Brown - he rents out the camp to be a scare zone. But to him it's not a successful Halloween til he's scared this shit out if all three of his nephews. He has to find new ways as they've gotten older and learned his tricks.
JBCU
Brett Land - as our resident frat bro he's definitely worn a toga one Halloween. He always looks forward to the parties.
Will Moretti - the tradition used to be trick-or-treating and watch a scary movie with the family. As an adult he's had his fill of parties. But he really wants someone to do couples costumes with. He had one planned with Emmy before they broke up.
Nate Kulina - he stopped caring for Halloween after Christina left. But Jay tried his best to make every Halloween fun for him even into adulthood. He didn't find a love for the holiday til Lisa had Shayne.

Palermo, Sicily - Part 3
38°07'55" N, 13°20'8" E
The warm weather brings Palermo to life:
vimeo
As we exited the airplane we noticed that the air has started to warm since we were last in Palermo. Our minds skillfully replayed the route from plane to train to cobbled streets. Our feet carried us across the much busier streets, no need for maps this time. The keys collected from a lovely writer on the Via Roma to unlock our small slice of solace in the Ballarò. Ballarò, meaning I will dance, how beautiful and telling of our return to this place. This time we will dance as this city of infinite secrets begins to unravel just a little more. We are beginning to speak her language and are starting to understand. We returned just in time to witness the beginning of many holidays including Eid al-Fitr which rendered the Ballarò a very quiet place and La Festa della Liberazione, or Liberation Day: a day that commemorates the total liberation of Italy in 1946.
An adventure to say hello to our dear Antonella unveiled a stunning coastline and the mechanisms of beach going in Italy. Unlike in Hawai’i where the beach should not be owned, here you can buy a seat on the sand for the day. In the distance the Torre delle Mandre inspires stories of centuries past from the brilliant mind of our friend, the archaeologist. Porticello is a quick train ride away and we wandered back home through the market catching the last of the day’s swordfish and hopscotching over the small rivers of torn and rotten ends swirling towards the street gutter.
Krystal will forever be inspired by the work of Richard Avedon and when we saw that the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Palermo had a show we immediately made our way there. There is no photographic experience in the world that compares to standing in front of a giant silver gelatin print of Avedon’s work. The prints will always be traditional because there is no Epson printer on earth that compares to the magic of a silver halide print, especially not a print made from a 4X5 negative. Swoon. The show did not disappoint and after so many months away from home it was fun to be surrounded by American faces.
The city of Bagheria held an event to celebrate I segreti della terra (the Secret of the Earth) at the Villa Cattolica. Antonella let us know about the event and we pulled out our best outfits and made our way to the celebration. From what we could gather through Google Translate and the buzz around the event a fellow named Mario Tozzi has an absolute ton of gems and minerals he has collected from around the world and the City of Bagheria wants to start a science museum. Many very important men spoke about the importance of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering for the youth and Krystal was flashed back to her days as an education consultant. The gems and minerals were impressive and we got to meet the Mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Tripoli! After the event we stopped in to Friggitoria Sirchia for an epic pile of arancini, panelle, and croquettes all washed down with a birra moretti.
On a wander around the neighborhood we stumbled into the Chiesa di San Giovanni degli Eremiti. It is a stunning house of worship and a part of Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalú and Monreale. Given the epic history of conquest in Sicily the places of worship have served many denominations. Arab construction meets Christian renovations and Latin Crosses. The whole mash up is truly fascinating and we are grateful that folks just sort of added on to the old buildings instead of destroying them to build new. Crowned with red domes that would be at home in Baghdad or Damascus, we highly recommend a visit here over the Chiesa di San Cataldo which seems to have a longer line every day as summer gets closer. The stroll through the garden is also a wonderful gift to the senses and a welcome respite from the city streets.
We were so excited to discover Il Genio, a three weekend festival that opened up the geniuses throughout Palermo. The patron Saint of Palermo, in partnership with Santa Rosalia, the Genius of Palermo is depicted as an austere old man who has at his feet a dog a symbol of fidelity and, wrapped around his arm, a snake and emblem of continuous rebirth. Our weekends were filled with super cool adventures and started with a visit to see photographic treasures that survived the war at Casa Museo della fotografia “Matilde Incorpora.” The lineal descendants of famed Auguste Lumière, one of the inventors of the cinematograph, have a studio tucked at the very top of many, many stairs. They were excited to share the treasures of their family collection. The air was warm and laden with the smell of photographic chemicals and the shelves were brimming with photographic treasures.
The next weekend we headed to our local library: Biblioteca comunale di Casa Professa “Leonardo Sciascia.” A 263 year old library…no big deal. A pair of university students took us on a personal tour of the space. We assume not everyone is as excited about libraries as we are, and it was stunning. The bookshelves are adorned with over 300 portraits of famous folks from Sicilian history. The best part - it is a real functioning library and we plan to go back to do some research.
Just down the street, the Archivio Storico Comunale also had their doors open for a tour. Another personal tour with a brilliant university student revealed the intricacies of the building where records from 1200 to the mid 20th century are stored. The sheer volume of paperwork housed on the shelves is staggering. It is no wonder none of the records in Palermo are digitized - they just kept too much stuff! Wandering through the shelves and learning more about the history of the city was an absolute gift. We wrapped up our Il Genio adventures on a passeggiata, or evening walk, led by Igor Gelarda from Villa Giulia where we uncovered the 16 Geniuses of Palermo. It was a super fun stroll through the city with a lot of folks. We are grateful for the magic of Google Translate which enabled us to read the whole tour in English as Igor talked.
Another lovely discovery in the neighborhood was Parco d'Orleans. A gorgeous oasis of green dotted with roses and the only ornithological park in Italy. The best part is the whole thing is free. We will definitely be back with notebooks and coffee just to soak up the expanse of green and totally wild collection of birds.
Our first order of business was securing a grocery cart which the cobblestones in the neighborhood quickly proved to be a formidable challenge. The best way to make space for the occasional arancini is to pummel a grocery cart across uneven terrain and then carry your groceries up six flights of stairs. In fact, we would take this trek over a Kona Costco run any day! We also found an absolutely epic cafe called Tèco (thank you Riccardo) and have been enjoying a change in scenery while pumping out lots of projects.
We imagine one could spend a lifetime in Palermo discovering new things. We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to return with new eyes to this ancestral place for Krystal. Speaking of ancestors, we found her great grandmother’s birth record. Proof that everything in Palermo, abandoned or not, belongs here.

US Public Sees Through Lies Behind TikTok Ban
— Anthony Moretti | December 19, 2023
Illustration: Liu Xidan/Global Times
Washington politicians have repeatedly told American audiences that TikTok is not safe. Meanwhile, state governments have sought to ban the popular app, however, in doing so they have shown no interest in following the First Amendment and its provisions relating to free speech. In one case, a federal judge told Montana officials that preventing people from using the app in that state "oversteps state power" and "likely violates the First Amendment."
Before we go any further, let's not mince words here: The hatred of TikTok emanating from federal and state halls of power has nothing to do with privacy or any other issue politicians want to offer. It has everything to do with where TikTok calls home. Because it is owned by a Chinese entity, it is automatically dangerous in the eyes of elected officials. American politicians are simply doing what they know how to do: Validate being tough on China by criticizing a popular app.
Imagine such a politician saying that Meta, the company that operates Facebook and Instagram, ought to be banned because of its questionable privacy practices. As the Guardian noted earlier this year, Meta collects GPS locators, photos taken by users, WiFi information and more, meaning it "can paint an extremely detailed and intricate map of people's lives..." But, of course, because Meta is an American company, it gets a pass. Let's not forget that Facebook is more than willing to hand over information whenever the federal government wants it. We will understand why that is important in just a few paragraphs.
The American people have heard politicians from Washington and across the country rail against TikTok. But they do not believe them. A new survey from the Pew Research Center reports that only 38 percent of US adults support banning the app. That figure was 50 percent just a few months earlier. And outright opposition to banning TikTok went up in that same time frame, from 22 percent to 27 percent.
Professor Anthony Moretti, Robert Morris University, Moon Township, PA, USA.
Perhaps more importantly, 50 percent of US teenagers do not want to see the app banned, and that percentage swells to 68 among teenagers who regularly use TikTok. The impression of TikTok among teenagers matters because another Pew Research Center study found that it is the second most-popular app in that age bracket. According to Pew, "58 percent of teens are daily users of TikTok. This includes 17 percent who describe their TikTok use as almost constant."
Finally, when you also take into account the fact that the percentage of Americans who report getting their news from TikTok has quadrupled since 2020, there are at least three conclusions that can be drawn: Americans like TikTok; they use it regularly; and they want access to it.
The Washington political establishment went bonkers earlier this year in an effort to kill off TikTok. The US politicians from the left to the right began screaming the same message: TikTok's parent company would share the data on its American users with the Chinese government. Such data could include a person's browsing history, location and so-called biometric (ie facial mapping or retina scans) data. Before we go any further, keep the following statement in mind: TikTok's CEO made clear no data has been - or would be - shared with the Chinese government.
Similar fears were expressed in Canada, where a TikTok official eventually told the Canadian parliament, "The Chinese government has not asserted the rights over any TikTok user data."
What does Meta's Mark Zuckerberg think about that?
Washington politicians have had nothing to say about the aforementioned Pew Research Center study on TikTok, but one is left to wonder if Republicans will take another stab at banning the app in 2024. Why? Remember, the vast majority of TikTok's users are in their teens, and teens generally vote for Democratic, liberal or progressive causes. Left-leaning groups sought to align with young TikTok influencers leading up to the 2022 midterm elections. One can reasonably expect they will try again in 2024, when control of the White House and both houses of Congress are up for grabs.
Republicans will fail in such attempts, but then again common sense rarely is on display in Washington. The American public knows this. Just ask the millions of them who are on TikTok.
— The Author is an Associate Professor at the Department of Communication and Organizational Leadership at Robert Morris University.

CHAPTER 3
spirit, universe, reincarnation
- Debora Moretti -
* * *
Part 1. The beginning of it all
She’s Debora Moretti. “Debora” means “queen bee” or “strong woman”; “Moretti” is both her surname and a description of her appearance as a person with dark hair and slightly dark skin. Her name says it all, the woman from Rome is a strong, decisive and ambitious one.
Like her best friend, Sofia Sanchez, she is also struggling in her journey to find the love of her life. Meanwhile Sofia tends to have long-term relationships, Debora’s romances only last for months, or even weeks. However, that doesn’t discourage her. In fact, she has become so used to short-term relationships that she no longer remembers what the concept of “dating” is. The guys she meets only come to her, and she only comes to them, for one thing, sensual pleasure.
Debora was not too beautiful, sexy or talented, but in the past she had no difficulty in meeting new guys. Then almost a year ago, having someone new appear in her circle suddenly became a “rare” thing. Is there something wrong? Or is it because she was getting to the age of marriage? Whatever the reason, she felt it was “unusual” and even made her a little anxious.
So she - who was not superstitious - decided to ask her aunt to introduce her to her psychic friend to see if she was having any spiritual problems that might have caused all these.
And little did she know, that night would change her perspective forever…
* * *
Part 2. The psychic
It was a small house in the alley not far from Debora's house. Different from her imagination, the house was simple, old-fashioned and there was no sign of a “psychic" at all.
The conversation began. Debora’s aunt introduced the two of them and briefly explained her situation.
The first moment when the psychic saw Debora, she turned to her aunt and said “This girl is in a very high realm”. Debora was clueless about the meaning of “realm”, this concept was utterly foreign to her, as she had never paid much attention to anything related to spirituality. She attempted to conceal her confusion: instinctively smiled and nodded as though she comprehended their conversation.
The psychic turned to Debora and continued:
“Your realm is high so you are hard to please, even a bit haughty. People who come to you will have to measure their strength.”
She then teased that Debora was only 26 years old and already anxious about having a lover.
Debora’s aunt said that many people have karmic bonds, but there are some who after reincarnation will not have this connection with a spouse, meaning that their fate has been “programmed” that in this life they will not have a husband or wife. Therefore, some search endlessly but never encounter, some search but the moment has not arrived.
Then the psychic told Debora to close her eyes, meditate, and focus all her thoughts on herself. Meanwhile, she didn't use any of the “tools” of a typical fortune-teller, astrologist, medium or whatsoever: card deck, astrological maps,... nothing. She also closed her eyes and tried to “listen” to something in the air.
“Your rendezvous has not arrived yet”, she said. “You will meet someone who you had a promise with in the previous life, that is your predestined karmic bond.”
She revealed that Debora would marry a foreigner. And remarked that although Debora was not blissful now, she would be very blissful later. Her karmic bond was just not yet manifested, but when it did, her life would be very satisfying.
She stated that Debora was not the kind of conventional woman, she did not care too much about details, and she lived very liberally. The psychic also mentioned “the origin” - meaning her past life, she was from Northern Europe. And she would meet someone who would match her energy.
She continued to describe Debora’s future husband - spouse - fate - predestined karmic bond. He’s a Northern European. He has slender tall physique, he was born in 1991, 1m85 tall with a healthy sunburnt skin and light brown hair. They would meet next year, from the day her and the psychic met, on a vacation rather than at work. At the time they meet, he is in Italy, possibly travelling or working there.
She said, as soon as the two fragments of fate met, they would be drawn to each other instantly, adore each other very much and their minds would only think about the other one.
She turned to Debora’s aunt and said: “These two have a long-distance karmic connection. Their realm is high so they “catch the wave” far. Like a big ship fishing far from the shore, while the rest are only in the ditch, in the pond, or the stream.”
She instructed Debora to continue meditating and “asking”, like a manifest therapy, for what she desired.
Debora couldn’t recall what she had wished for, it must have had something to do with love, since that was the main reason she had made an appointment with the psychic that day.
“These people are in a higher realm, they enjoy travelling around. They descend to one life just to “hang around”. And then when that life ends, they move to another one”.
“Our lives here are temporary”, she said. “Here” meant this life.
“You have a karmic bond, you just haven’t met the right person yet. Live happily, don’t worry about anything”, Debora’s aunt added.
The psychic told Debora that she was fearless and was not afraid of getting married, but she was actually afraid that she had no karmic bond. And what the psychic had just said proved the contrary, that Debora did have a karmic bond, even a predestined one, but the timing was not right.
Debora’s aunt explained about the “promise” from the previous life. It was probably just a casual remark that they would continue to love each other in the next life, but because they were madly in love then, that remark had sunk deep into their subconscious, and followed them to the next life.
Surprisingly, Debora’s sister and her husband were an example of a predestined bond. They had been in love for 7 years before they tied the knot. And they were blessed with a lovely son, who is now over a year old. Debora adored her nephew immensely.
“Wow!”, Debora thought silently.
The two of them went on to discuss religion: the differences in how religions preached, heaven, hell, reincarnation,… terms that she did not comprehend.
The psychic asked Debora if she wanted to inquire more about anything, if she had any troubles, regarding work or life.
She confidently replied: “No, I can handle things myself”.
“She was clever since young age”, Debora’s aunt commented with a smile.
“She will accomplish whatever she wants”, the psychic continued. “The important thing is you are in the higher realm, you have to do good things for everyone. Benefit yourself, benefit others, benefit all beings - that is the principle of life. Everyone has you, and you are a part of everyone. People in higher realms, the more they know, the more they err, the more they perish. Like an airplane, the higher it flies, the worse it crashes.”
Debora listened attentively to everything, but these terms, these knowledge were quite a lot compared to her understanding and perception at that time. So she didn't think much about predestined fate or karma. The young woman only thought about not wanting to "marry a foreigner", because she loved her country, and more importantly, she didn't want to leave her family.
"Is there any way for me to love an Italian? If from now until I meet my destiny, I date an Italian and decide to love them, what then? If I meet my destiny and I decide not to marry them, what then?", Debora asked naively.
Her aunt said that she should continue to live normally, keep dating if she liked them, but if they were not her "destiny" then it would be hard to get along. Or even if she met her destiny, but this life had another karmic relationship interfering, then it’s okay too. Everything should go along with nature, things that happen are variables that could change her fate. Although her life was predetermined, she still has to keep moving, not to sit still and wait for her destiny to come.
"Everything in the universe moves. Opportunities only come once, if you don't seize them, they will go away because you just sit still in one place", the psychic said.
She continued to tell Debora to disregard others’ opinions and to pursue her own happiness. She should have confidence and pride in herself, without needing to announce it to anyone. She would invariably draw the attention of everyone, because she possessed remarkable energy. When she encountered them, she would impart positive and reliable impressions, which constituted her forte.
Debora had always been confident about her energy and capability, when the psychic said that, she felt even more reinforced about that belief.
The psychic pondered for a few seconds and looked at Debora: “You will not reincarnate anymore. This is your last life. You only need to complete your mission in this life, which is to pay off your karmic ‘debts’. Consider this as a period of time to bond with your family. You will not reincarnate anymore”.
All of a sudden, everything came to a halt.
Debora attempted to conceal her confusion by nodding and smiling innocently, as she had done at the beginning of that night.
Her aunt was also astonished, but expressed an opposite reaction. She asked the psychic once more to verify that Debora was in her final reincarnation, then they chuckled joyfully, as if they were truly content with this. They proceeded to talk about other matters, unrelated to Debora. She remained there for a while, wished to inquire further about the meaning of “last life” but did not have the courage to say it. Eventually, she excused herself to depart earlier, not wishing to interrupt their dialogue any longer.
And the moment Debora left the place, her tears gushed out…
