2018 Extreme Rules Predictions.

Pre Show:

Andrade Cien Almas vs Sin Cara: This is a easy squash match for Almas in my opinion. Sin Cara hasn’t been relevant since I don’t know when and Manny is one of the best talent on the roster. Sucks it’s a pre show match but I don’t think there is any chance we will see Andrade lose here.

The New Day vs Sanity: They NEVER let Sanity win....anything? I don’t see the point of this match honestly outside of the WWE wanting to squeeze the popular trio of the New Day onto the event. This is one of those I want Sanity to win situations but it’s a safe bet to assume New Day will come out on top.

Main Card:

Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax (  WWE Raw Women's Championship ): I’m among the large population of people who think that Ronda is going to interfere in this match, probably giving Alexa a chance to jump in and hit Nia with a chair shot, roll-up pin or something. Setting up a triple threat match between these ladies at SS. It’ll be your typical Alexa and Nia match with Alexa coming out the winner due to Ronda’s interference.

AJ Styles vs Rusev ( WWE Championship ): With my love for both AJ and Rusev this is going to be one of the matches I’m looking forward to the most. I have a hard time believing that Rusev is going to beat AJ if Shinsuke didn’t but wilder things have happened before right? Rusev is WAAAAAY overdue for this win but I just don’t think it’s going to happen? I think AJ walks out still champion.

Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt vs The B-Team (  WWE Raw Tag Team Championship ): Don’t know many people who really care about this feud? I don’t know if Vince and the boys thought that they would be able to strike magic twice like with what they did with Cesaro and Sheamus but this was a big fail. I don’t care who wins? I just want The Revival as tag champs which might be a thing at SS? I’m going to say Matt and Bray retain just because Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel are just used to get people wins.

Carmella vs Asuka (  WWE SmackDown Women's Championship ): This is going to be a good match. Carmella continues to improve every time I watch her and Asuka is one of the very best in the company. James Chinsworth is going to destroy this match, ofc. And it’s going to suck to see Asuka get chewed up in the Vince machine and basically be just another female on the roster, smh. I like Carmella and think outside of Alexa she’s def the next best heel the company has as far as ladies go but I def think Asuka needs this win to protect her.

The Bludgeon Brothers vs Team Hell No (  WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship ): Don’t @ me but Luke and Eric have been complete savages since been giving this legit shot and have form to become a very creditable tag team like they was in NXT. I don’t want to see what has been a shockingly great run with the belts spoiled just for a cheap Daniel Bryan pop when we all know he’s off for bigger things! A lot of people think this match will be decided by a Miz interference to cost Daniel to set up their match at Summer Slam... I would rather see that feud/match saved for Wrestlemania unless one of them will be in a title match come ‘Mania. I’m gonna side with Luke and Eric winning this match only because I wanna think that the WWE will want to look at the long term goal instead of short time. If we let the Bludgeon Brothers hold the belts to let’s say Survivor Series? It would be a good reign as champions and will make them a real legit threat for tag gold further down the lines.

Dolph Ziggler vs Seth Rollins ( Intercontinental Championship ): I think we could’ve done without the iron man match stipulation but I’m still looking forward to it. I think this match could have several different endings to it, whether Ambrose comes out in the closing minutes to help Seth score one last fall to edge Dolph out. Or Drew costing Dolph the match to set up a feud there? I’ve struggled with trying to figure out why would Dolph drop back the title to Seth tbh, I just don’t see any real reason for it? If Dolph retains we can still get Drew vs Dolph at SS for the strap which would be the perfect launch to Drew’s main roster single run. Gut feeling is telling me that Seth will win though so that’s who I’m going with. 

Roman Reigns vs Bobby Lashley: People can shit on this match as much as they want. But Roman and Bobby is going to be a whole lot of huge power spots, and probably the second most violent match on the card, Braun and KO will probably have the most lmao. If it’s the main event then great? If not, I’m fine with that too. I think it only makes sense to have Bobby win here? Nobody is going to care for Roman vs Brock pt. 1000 for the SS main event? So I’m going to pick Bobby to win here, I know this mean Roman at the moment wont have a match for SummerSlam but we ALL know Vince will find a way to get him on the card regardless.

Jeff Hardy vs Shinsuke Nakamura ( US Championship ): This might be the match of the night when all is said and done! I love myself some Jeff Hardy and think that at some point this year he will be holding gold again but nobody needs a title win more than Nakamura. He should’ve beaten Styles for the WWE Championship but a heel foreigner winning the US title is something we know Vince loves and who better to execute that role than ‘Sorry, I don’t speak English.’ Shinsuke Nakamura?

Finn Balor vs Baron Corbin: I’m tired of the disrespect that Finn and Baron both are going through. Like come on now, why is Finn not a champion right now? Why isn’t Baron a champion right now? These two are some of the companies best and they are in a pointless matches like this? I hope this isn’t a one and done kinda match between the two at least so it’s not at all completely pointless for this match to be happening but I think Finn will win here just because I don’t see too many babyfaces winning tonight.

Braun Strowman vs Kevin Owens: Can this be the main event? If we aren’t going to put the WWE Championship, the belt with the most prestige in the final slot why can’t this match be the last on the card? The steel cage is a great feature that I think will be the main reason why Kevin Owens wins this match. Why else would they add this to the match? Braun doesn’t need a cage to win, he could easily pin KO and nobody would have an issue with it. I don’t know if there will be any interference or not in this match that will allow KO the chance to snake out of the cage but I think it’s almost certain that Braun will lose.

Captain underpants thoughts

Not sure how I feel about reinterpreting the characters. On one level this is very much a series that wants to encourage creativity. It demands to be fanfict and for you to reinterpret the characters and think about what they’re doing how they’re interacting and what you’re seeing. At the same time I think it’s stating something, that despite multiple seaming attempts for mr. Krupp to get just that close to learning his lesson but always doubling down on being a worse person. In particular you can see something of a hope spot when he ends up in jail. He’s finally given a taste of his own medicine he’s plainly sad about it. But once he’s given the opportunity to actually make decisions again he actually helps make the situation worse. And it’s later even affirmed that his influence is going to be toxic on the children.

At the same time I do think that Captain Underpants and him are reflections of each other but I don’t think in the way that Captain Underpants redeems him. So much as illustrates on both ends of the spectrum Krupp's problems. For instance in the bad future it turns out that he is a massive influence on George and Harold and even though he’s well past the point of retirement he can’t let the elementary school go and has to regularly stop by just to make sure that his legacy continues. Only this being Benjamin Krupp it has to be in the worst way possible. he has to make sure that everyone else is miserable and that misery is being perpetuated and that is the end goal for all of this. The scary sad part of it all he thinks that’s helping people and it’s the closest thing he gets to Joy and accomplishment on his own. At this point it’s pretty much established that Ben will always be a terrible person. So in many ways much as the movie is the ultimate reboot of the series it gives the opportunity for Krupp to finally get that one thing that you hope he finally get the chance to be a good person. And for him to follow through Mind you if this was Game of Thrones vs. A Song of Ice and Fire it would be the Stannis versus the Mannis all over again. So it does say something. Krupp does want to be an influence to the students and the children. He just can’t do it right for some reason. Oddly enough I don’t feel comfortable with the idea of giving him an abusive parent in order to make it all happen. Now you can go out of your way, especially as the series ends to give deeper meaning and motivation to what’s going on The idea for instance that Krupp actually read the comics does make sense. His entire Captain Underpants persona seems to be a take-off what’s actually in the comics. So somehow he got that programming inside of him. The idea that it’s ultimately some sense of goodness inside of him let out. In the movie this feels more in line because effectively Captain Underpants is a cheerier more expressive more child-like version of Krupp. Admittedly because Krupp isn’t quite as one note as he is in the books and isn’t enhanced along that note as later books would do.

Okaywas i the only one who read book 12 and wondered what’s going on between mr. Meaner and Krupp on the stairs. It could be a sign that mr. Meaner was simply starting to patronize mr. Krupp in the way he would others since he got his intelligence enhancement. But it seemed to be the only instance where he’s affectionate with someone else even more so than Kipper. If so given the other gay subtext that was throughout the series that became very explicit text you have to wonder if Krups problem, along with the aforementioned bad future segment, is that he was heavily repressed by one set of circumstances or Mentor figures in his life. So even after all my bitching about everyone else’s head Canon I’m actually going with the idea that Krupp was a former queer Jewish prankster/bully who became the biggest corrupt sell out because he believes squashing children’s Joy innovation and unruliness was the road to success. On the other hand I really want him and his secretary to work it out. and then there is a course Miz Ribble. That benny, he’s a regular British official. Personally I don’t think anyone’s gotten a more expansive overall right version of Krupp. Yes I am criticizing the original author because I am evil. I guess that idea is I want to expand him but not justify him out and out. But I wouldn’t want to make him over all nicer just so that it’s easier to like him. This is the one point where I think the movie fails for me. In the first book even with its exaggeration and simplicity Benjamin actually has a plan that can actually work and is actually harmful. You can actually see how it goes off. You can believe that he was able to throw all of this on the kids for several weeks because he finally had evidence in lieu of the constant complaints and crimes that he wanted to harm them over. Effectively he blackmails a couple of kids. And though the kids believe that their parents are not in on it it seems unlikely this is true given the number of after-school activities that are involved and at the very least George has too many parental units in his life for this to completely slip under the radar. Which oddly enough means that despite the fact that Captain Underpants May look kind of creepy. Benny krupt is the kind of person who would invent reasons in order to monopolize a child’s time outside of their parents understanding or guidance. The actual red flag of child abuse. I do like the trip to the alternate universe. Not only do we get to see Harold and George at their worst we also get an idea of how Benny could be an authoritarian but still be a decent person. If a shame that we know it’ll never happen. However it is nice that the series in a way never loses its sympathy for its Eternal victim. At the very least Harold and George internalized if not perfectly get that just because someone has done unto them doesn’t always make it right to do unto others. And the number one reason is what they suffer from the captain. because it can have such long-term effects that they are always going have to deal with. As for Professor Poopypants it is just sad how much was done to him in order to make him snap. I’ll note that in a way the movie switched him and Melvin up. Melvin is the innocent picked upon person who’s desperate for recognition and even notes the possibility of curing world hunger. Poopy pants is the person so upset with his project that he doesn’t care what it does so long as he gets concert recognition for Glory and Brilliance even to the point that he will do absolutely hurtful things and become villainous out of a lack of recognition or too much demand. This is very much the opposite of how they are as a whole in all of their full novel appearances. At the same time I don’t think you could or should want to redeem movie poopy pants. Because he’s given multiple times to let things go and he refuses to. Whereas book Poopypants actually starts to consider things but can’t let go of his hatred to the point it destroys himself first and foremost. so he’s much more tragic overall as opposed to scary and dangerous. I do wonder what they’re going to go do with Melvin in the movie series. Especially as they say what makes him different literally a clinical condition.
