Palm Jumeirah

Palm Jumeirah,is the world’s largest man-made island and is comprised of a two kilometer long trunk, a crown made up of 17 fronds and a surrounding crescent.

Following a number of years of feasibility studies, the Palm Jumeirah was launched in 2001, with reclamation starting in the same year. From the end of 2006, the island's first residences – comprising 4,000 luxury villas and apartments were handed over during a phased period. Since then, the tourism, leisure and retail elements of the island have been developed, creating a spectacular, world-renowned residential and tourism destination.

Dubai is known for its world firsts. One astounding example is the series of artificial archipelagos in the emerald waters of the Arabian Gulf. Palm Jumeirah, which looks like a stylised palm tree from above, was the first offshore development of its kind, and was originally billed as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

This photo was taken in March, which feels like a million years ago. It's on Our Lady of the Rocks, a small church on a man-made island in the middle of the Bay of Kotor. Lisa behaved really well on the island because she was fascinated by the little candle she was holding. It was a prayer candle from inside the church. We were going to pay to light one, but we didn't have the correct change. But a woman who worked there gave Lisa one as a gift. After we were done exploring the little island, we asked Lisa if she would give the candle back since we hadn't paid for it, and she willingly went back inside and put it on the table. This was before she could understand what we were saying, so she must have known there was something special about where she was. .
