So excited about my Sumia Horse Shoot

Ever since I was a little girl living in Tokyo, anime has always been my absolute favorite! The colorful characters, the amazing stories, and all the creativity just swept me off my feet. One of the best things ever is bringing these characters to life through cosplay. Dressing up, becoming the characters, and stepping into their worlds is just so magical!

This shoot was super special to me because I got to cosplay as Sumia from Fire Emblem Awakening. And guess what? I got to shoot with a horse! As someone who loves riding, combining my love for horses with my passion for anime was like a dream come true.

Sumia is such a sweetheart! She's a Pegasus Knight, and even though she's a bit clumsy, she has the kindest heart. She starts off a little unsure of herself, but she has so much hidden potential that she discovers along the way. Her journey of self-discovery and growth is just so inspiring.

In Fire Emblem Awakening, Sumia is part of Chrom's Shepherds and has this amazing bond with her Pegasus. She can calm and connect with her Pegasus in such a beautiful way, showing her gentle and caring nature. As a rider, I totally relate to that special bond between a rider and their horse. Portraying that through Sumia was just unforgettable.

Cosplaying as Sumia let me blend my love for anime and horses in the most wonderful way. The shoot was filled with so much joy, excitement, and a sprinkle of magic.

#Bad photos but Happy Post. So this reached bangalore today by post. It’s anthology of poems from poets all over India and I got to be part of it. This is the first time I am seeing something I have written in a book, printed in beautiful, black letters and it feels … I dunno.. exciting. I wonder how excited people could feel when they have a whole book of their own. Anyway this of course is a dream come true and here is to hoping better things would come this way in future. 10 years ago today, I sang at the Grammy’s pre-show party on the rooftop of the Beverley Hilton in LA. I cannot believe it’s been 10 years! It was such a magical experience and I’ll never forget the sun bursting through the clouds just as I hit the peak of the song. The whole week was a dream. I stayed in the most incredible hotel (poolside at the Beverley Hilton), I had a VIP tour of Universal Studios, LA private bus tour, Visit to the Grammys Museum, $500 gift card and got to take my beautiful friend @dominicmtracy - who I met through Glee (he was one of the cast)- to the Grammys itself in a limo and went to the aftershow party. It was surreal and magical and one of the best weeks of my life. I had my papa @simple_2 there and my friend @tanja.hansson and we got to do so many amazing things and see places I’d only ever seen on TV. I got to meet up with @curtmega and @itskimwhalen who I also knew from Glee and it truly is one of my proudest achievements in life. One I will never forget and will always be grateful for. Gosh 10 years sure has flown by, how different my life is now. Towards the end of 2022 I made a lifelong dream come true; painting with oil paints. Something that I had wanted to do since I was a kid. But for many many years I held myself back from even trying. In fact, it took me over a year after buying all the supplies to first put paint to canvas but more on that some other time. For now I share with you my first oil painting. And I gotta tell ya, every moment painting made my heart sing. Made my soul beam. I couldn’t stop smiling. Here’s to more of that in 2023.
