Thinking about how important it is that Wendy is a part of the Pines family. (Because she is, as much as Soos is. It's why she's in the family photos, such as the one representing Ford's happiness at the end of The Book of Bill.)
We don't know too much about Wendy's home / family life. Unfortunately, we don't a single Wendy-focused episode, and we don't get to learn too much about her outside of how she interacts with the main characters. But here is what we do know:
Wendy is the oldest of four siblings, with three little brothers. Wendy herself is 15. We are never given ages for her brothers, but given the photo that she shows Dipper of her younger self in "Double Dipper", I'm guesstimating that the youngest Corduroy brother (Gus) is about 6 in the present day. This is because young!Wendy was wearing braces and also noted to be "freakishly tall" for her age, and Gus was wearing a diaper in the photo (but standing on his own). Braces can take two to three years to be removed, and Wendy doesn't have them in the present day, meaning she was probably around 11 or 12 in the photo. Meanwhile, Gus was in a diaper but able to stand, meaning he was probably a toddler, likely around 2. So in the present day, Wendy is 15, Gus is around 6 (depending on if Wendy was 11 or 12 in the photo), and Marcus and Kevin (the middle brothers) are between 14 and 7.
Wendy's mother died when she was young. Given the age of Gus in the photo, we can estimate that Wendy's mother died when Wendy was, at youngest, 11 or 12 -- so, three or four years pre-canon. (Because any earlier than that and Gus couldn't have been born.)
Wendy's father is Manly Dan, who shouts just about every line of dialogue he has and routinely breaks things, including in his own house, albeit sometimes by accident. He also spends most of his time in a biker bar, though we do know that he does love his children. (e.g. is seen with the boys on both family fishing day and Summerween, is seen taking Wendy out for breakfast in "Dipper vs. Manliness").
Dan is the reason why Wendy has a summer job. As she says in "Gideon Rises", "If I can't work at the Shack, my dad's gonna force me to work at my cousin's logging camp up north." This implies that Wendy has to work somewhere, per a rule of Dan's.
In "Into the Bunker", Wendy has this to say when she comments on how she's excited to be going on an adventure with Dipper and Mabel: "It beats cleaning up after my dad at home." She says this with a frown, in a grousing tone. We're then treated to a clip of Dan breaking apart the cabin as mentioned above.
In "Society of the Blind Eye", before she's about to have her memories erased, Wendy confesses thus: "I'm stressed like 24/7. Have you MET my family?"
Wendy dreams about her mother every night. The glimpse of her dream that we're shown depicts her receiving a comforting hug from her mother.
The conclusions that I draw from the above are thus: prior to her mother's death, Wendy had what amounts to a normal family life in Gravity Falls. The Corduroys were a two parent household, her mother was there to help balance Dan out and raise the kids (Wendy included), and Wendy could, well . . . be a kid. It's possible, even, that some of Dan's more worrying traits (such as spending the majority of his time at a bar) didn't exist when Wendy's mom is alive. It's pure speculation on my part, but it's possible that Dan feels compelled to go to a bar to be aggressive (and drink, even if we don't see it because it's a kid's show) because that's how he processes his grief over his wife's death, away from his children's eyes and ears. He's trying to be a responsible father and not hurt his kids, while at the same time still not handling things in the most healthy way.
But back to Wendy. Once Wendy's mother died, the dynamic in the Corduroy household shifted. Dan was hit by the tidal wave of grief that comes with losing a spouse, as well as the sudden onslaught of being a single father to four children, one of whom was very possibly still in diapers. And if my speculation is correct and that he took to going to the bar to deal with his grief, then who is left to change Gus' diapers and get him potty trained? To operate the stove or oven or microwave to make sure that the boys (who would all be under age 10 at this point) got fed, and to make sure she got fed herself? To, in her own words, "clean up [her] dad's messes" when he was at home to make them by breaking apart the house with his own head?
Wendy.
Wendy was a child herself when her mother died, but she was the oldest child, potentially freshly into middle school while the boys were still in elementary, and the oldest daughter to boot. The girl, expected to know how to do "girl things" like cook and clean. I'm not saying that Dan told her to do these things, but we know from Wendy's personality that she is protective of those who need it (e.g. Dipper and Mabel) and, more importantly, that's her home and her family, and she does love them (she makes this clear in the Weirdmageddon episodes numerous times). She wouldn't let her little brothers starve, wouldn't let her youngest sit in a filthy diaper, would try to pick up the house if her dad and brothers wouldn't. Wendy would step up to do it out of necessity, even if she hated it and felt stressed out about it, especially while also feeling the crushing grief that comes with having lost her mother.
So Wendy, having lost her mother at a young age, probably had to step up into a pseudo-parental role in her own house, trying her best to fill the void that was left by her mother's passing even though she was only a child herself. And this is why she's "stressed, like, 24/7." Because not only are her father and brothers loud and chaotic (especially with Dan raising the boys into miniature versions of him), but because it's her responsibility (spoken or no) to keep the house in as much order as she can. It's little wonder that, outside of the movie that she and Dipper are watching in the beginning of "Into the Bunker", Wendy seems to spend as little time as possible in her own home.
So, how does this fit into it being important for Wendy to be part of the Pines family? Or, worded in a better way, why it's so important that she has the Pines as a second family, and the Mystery Shack as a second home?
As I said above, once Wendy's mother died, her ability to be a child in her own home effectively ended. Again, to make it clear, Wendy doesn't hate her family. In fact, it's the opposite; the Weirdmageddon episodes make it clear that she still loves her father and her brothers very much. But "Society of the Blind Eye" also makes it clear that they stress her out. She has a lot of complicated feelings, something that's understandable given her complicated situation.
But because she has to help keep the house together when she's at home, that means she can only really be a kid (or teenager, as the case may be) when she's outside of it. She has a lot of fun doing this with her friends, but sometimes a teen does need a home to relax in. And for Wendy, that home is the Mystery Shack -- and yes, that includes when she's on the clock.
Now, I know what you may be thinking: it's stated that Stan is a terrible boss, that he barks orders, that he yells -- how is that any different from her father? Well, I'll tell you how: the only time we actually see this is in "Boss Mabel", in which Stan being a boss who yells and barks orders at his employees is a plot point meant to create the conflict for the episode. Otherwise, we never really see Stan being an awful boss, and in particular we never see him being hard on Wendy. In fact, I would argue we see the opposite.
Here are things we know about Wendy's behavior at work, and Stan's response to her behavior at work:
Wendy constantly reads magazines while working the cash register, often right in front of Stan. Stan never tells her to put the magazine away.
Wendy often puts her feet up on the counter. Stan never tells her to take her feet off the counter.
Wendy goes up to the roof "all the time, every day" to the point where she has a chair and cooler up there. ("The Inconveniencing"). We don't know if Stan knows about this or not, but it's hard to believe he wouldn't if Wendy goes up there as much as she says she does.
When Stan told her to hang signs up out in the woods, she said, "I would, but I can't . . . reach . . ." while making no effort to get up to get the sign, and not removing her eyes from the magazine or her feet from the counter. Stan simply said, "I'd fire [. . .] you if I could." i.e. she got away with it 100%. ("Tourist Trapped")
When Stan double checks with Wendy and Soos that they'll wash the bathrooms while he's gone, Wendy says, "absolutely not" with a salute. Stan laughs and then says to stay out of trouble, not caring at all. ("The Inconveniencing")
Wendy was supposed to work the ticket stand all night at the party. She quit about ten minutes in and blatantly joined the party. Stan had to have seen her. He did nothing. ("Double Dipper")
Wendy claims in "Boss Mabel" that Stan doesn't let her have friends at work. In contrast, we see Robbie visit her at work all the time throughout their relationship (e.g. "Fight Fighters", "Boyz Crazy"), and Stan even comments on "is that the guy that's always making googly eyes at Wendy?" but otherwise has no problem with it. So again, it was a conflict invented for "Boss Mabel" that otherwise doesn't exist.
And that is just off the top of my head. The point is, Wendy is perhaps treated the easiest of the staff at the Mystery Shack. She's blatantly lazy and snarky and the most Stan ever does is grouse that he would "fire [her] if he could."
And this is a good thing.
The Mystery Shack, even if when she's on the clock, is clearly a place where Wendy can relax. It's somewhere she feels comfortable, rather than stressed. Yes, she's working -- but she's putting in the barest minimum effort because the stakes are the lowest they could possibly be. Because even though Stan grouses and complains about how little she cares, he won't fire her. He says he can't, but let's be honest, he could. One could argue that he'd be out a cashier, but he already is when the school year starts and Wendy has to go back to school. The Shack doesn't close down then, so it wouldn't close now if he fired Wendy.
But he won't fire her, because he knows that if he did, she'd be sent up north to her cousin's logging camp, a job she would hate and that would add on to the stress she already has from her home life. Stan has been in Gravity Falls for 30 years; he's been there since before Wendy was born. He knew her mother. He remembers when her mother died a few years ago. He probably saw how Dan's personality changed, how Wendy's personality changed from a more carefree little girl to a little girl who had to act more carefree than she actually was because she won't ever dare let anyone know she's anything but tough as nails, kinda like the guy he sees when he looks in the mirror. So he'll grouse at her about her laziness, and she'll complain about how much she hates having to work, but he'll also never hire another cashier even during the school year when the Shack maybe could use the extra help, and she knows that he both has an orthopedic back pillow and where it's kept, and that's as much as either of them will say about it. (Source for the orthopedic back pillow: "Soos and the Real Girl").
Wendy spends time at the Shack that would otherwise be spent at her home. When she decides to leave Tambry's party early, she goes to hang out at the Shack and watch movies with Stan, before the twins or Soos arrive ("Summerween"). She's likewise hanging out with the Pines and Soos watching television despite work clearly being over in the beginning of "Dreamscaperers". Wendy can relax at the Shack, can be in a home environment where she has no responsibilities, where she can simply be a teenager without also having to be a pseudo-parent. She can be a big sister figure to Dipper and Mabel without the added responsibilities of having to make sure they're fed and brought up right. She can be snarky with Stan, and he'll be snarky back, and there are no risks or consequences at all.
It's important that Wendy is a member of the Pines family, because here there are no complications for her. She loves her original family, but things got difficult when her mother died, and they won't ever stop being difficult. But things aren't difficult with the Pines. In a way, being with the Pines is as comfortable as the hugs she gets from her mother in her dreams every night. Being with the Pines feels right. It feels safe.
It's good that Wendy has them. It's important that Wendy has them. And fortunately, she always will.

Ideas for a GF Lost Legends sequel or well midquel.
Tumblr media
1). We get a story that features Ford working together with Dipper and Multi-Bear!
Tumblr media
We learn more of their friendship and their interests.
Multi-Bear meets Ford! Him, Multi-Bear, and Dipper become an unlikely trio!
They all work together to find something or someone in The Crawlspace about Ford's past. Maybe also some information of The Oracle!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also maybe some more flashbacks of Ford's childhood and maybe Multi-Bear shares some of his childhood memories too.
Also their love of the group BABBA and their hit song Disco Girl!
2). The second story can be about Pacifica working at Greasy's Diner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After her parents lost their mansion for pledging their alliance to Bill. Pacifica has to find work to pay off her parents new house.
While at the start, she's her usually bratty and spoiled self. She slowly learns how to be nice and compassionate to others. Also because her, and her parents aren't wealthy anymore, no one is cowering before her.
Even when Pacifica is mean to her at first, Lazy Susan is is still cheerful and polite towards her, she even lets her stay at her place when her parents are "busy" wallowing in pity.
We also learn a little bit of Lazy Susan's past and why she's nice. Also her becoming Pacifica's grandmother figure.
3). A reconcile story of Old Man McGucket and his son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get flashbacks of what's his childhood like and what type of people his family were.
His friendship with Stanford, him giving an axolotl, and more of their friendship during college.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some flashbacks of him when he was healthier, and his relationship with his son Tate McGucket, along with is ex wife Emma-May.
Maybe even some tension between Ford and Tate for understandable reasons.
4). A story of Wendy during high school, and still having adventures after The Pines Family left Gravity Falls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's still the awesome laid-back, rebellious teenager, we know and love, but this time we learn a bit more about her childhood and who her mom was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see the relationship between her dad, her younger brothers, and her mom before her disappearance (I like to think she disappeared when Wendy was twelve. Also I believe in this theory)
In the flashbacks, we get to see her dad training her and her brothers for an apocalypse, and her awesome fighting skills!
The origin on how she met Tambry, despite being complete opposites. Also her eventual friendships with Nate, Lee, Robbie, and Thompson.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also see she still goes on adventures without Soos and The Pines Family. Sometimes she goes on adventures with her friends or brothers.
Tumblr media
Maybe even while she's ditching school during a boring trip at the museum, she finds a something about her missing mom.

A Corduroy Tragedy
So...I was reading a tumblr post focused on Wendy (and the Wendip ship, which...I still don't care for, honestly. I mostly read it for the Wendy lore) and I came across something interesting.
And its from the Lost Legends comic. Like Journal 3, it too has hidden messages and I wanted to get mine so I can verify what was said in the post.
I don't have it immediately available at the moment (I left it in my mom's room and she's asleep, so I don't want to disturb her), but according to the post, the message had something to do with Wendy's mother.
And it's that she isn't die at some point, like many of us probably assumed (under the assumption that not everyone is privy to this).
The message hinted that she's trapped in another dimension. Sort of like Ford, but not really. Like, I don't think she's dimension hopping. She's trapped in one place. Perhaps this could give the idea that there are random portals/rifts than can appear and disappear.
And Wendy's mother accidentally encountered one and vanished without a trace. As for when...hard to say. Obviously, it was some time after the birth of Wendy's youngest brother, Gus.
We also don't know the ages of the Corduroy bros (except for being less than 15, since Wendy's the oldest child) and Marcus having facial hair surprisingly wouldn't help in this case because it could be a Corduroy thing, sort like how Wendy's height is a Corduroy trait.
Still, I'll take the facial hair for consideration just to make things easy. Of course, facial hair starts appearing during puberty, usually at the age of 13~16 (though some sources say 11~15 for facial hair growing at the corners).
So, I'd make the guessimate that Marcus (the oldest brother) is probably either 14 or 13 years old. The middle brother, Kevin, I'd say could be 3 years younger (11 or 10), and the youngest brother, Gus, is maybe 8.
I personally headcanon that Wendy lost her mother at around the same age as Dipper and Mabel. That headcanon remains true even with this new knowledge. Maybe Mrs. Corduroy went looking for something or went for a walk in the woods and fell through a random rift.
She gets reported missing and despite an extensive search, she was never found. It made no sense to the locals. Mrs. Corduroy knew the woods like the back of her hand, she couldn't've gotten lost. I can kinda see this as a reference to 411 cases.
And, perhaps, an incredible role model to Wendy.
Because...with a family like the Corduroys, I highly doubt that Mama Corduroy was a pansy. No, she was a down-to-earth and strong-willed woman with a sharp wit. She was an inspiration.
And now, she is gone. Vanished without a trace. It left the family devastated and Wendy in a bad headspace. There is a scene with Manly Dan's vehicle where there is a yellow ribbon sticker attached to the back...yeah.
To this day, Wendy still holds out hope that her mom will come back. And when she does, ask why. Even so, she knows that she's gonna have to move on.
This is...somehow more tragic than just having Mrs. Corduroy die in an accident. Because, at least with that, there is confirmation. There is a body. There isn't uncertainty. But, the idea that Mrs. Corduroy just...vanished?
It has a special type of hold...one that will linger for a long time.
Whelp, more angst fodder! Have at it!
...It's 11 pm and I should be asleep, but instead, I wrote this!
Yaaaay...

GF Fanfic - Return to the Roots
Tangled Roots (36,063 words) by darkspine10
Chapters: 7/7
Fandom: Gravity Falls
Rating: Mature
Preston Northwest had just sat down in his kitchen to enjoy his french toast and omelette when the doorbell rang and interrupted his tranquillity. He considered ignoring it until the bell rang a second time, and then incessantly. Sighing, he abandoned his breakfast and morning newspaper. The local Gossiper had never been an outstanding example of journalism, but he was still mildly offended that his daily ritual had been interrupted.
He sometimes wondered why he stayed in this town after all the humiliations he’d endured. It was his ancestral seat, yes, but no-one would blame him for getting away from all the reminders of the ways his pride had been dented. The locals were ignorant, the rustic, rural air didn’t agree with him, and the less said about ‘the mystical side’ of the valley the better.
Preston unlocked the door, ready to give a thrashing to whatever two-bit salesperson, teenager with a petition for him to sign, or lost tourist happened to present themselves. What he was not expecting was a figure out of an abattoir.
Standing in his doorway was a woman covered from head to toe in hot, dripping blood. Preston had to suppress the urge to heave from the tangy stench, before he had a flicker of recognition. “Pacifica?”
“Hey, dad.” His daughter weakly grinned. “Long time no see.”
“Are you-”
“It’s not my blood. Mostly.” In one hand his daughter was carrying a giant woodcutter’s axe, and for a split second he thought this was some karmic punishment come to take retribution. Then Pacifica grimaced and asked to come in. She had to repeat herself, so dazed was he by the question. “I said we need somewhere to rest and clean up.” She gestured to a queue of strangers lined up on the pathway leading from the wall around the front garden. They were a shabby and tired looking bunch, covered in dirt and their clothes ragged.
Preston raised his nose in a sneer, but his daughter’s insistent look wore him down. It was such a rare opportunity to even see her these days that he felt obliged to accept her bizarre request. “Oh, very well. As long as they-” The column of invaders charged past him into the house and up the stairs towards the shower. “-wipe their feet,” he lamely finished. “Care to come in?” he tentatively offered to his daughter.
Pacifica thought about it, seeming to give it genuine consideration. That was a change from the frostiness with which she’d treated him and her mother on the occasion of their last meeting, at the wedding with whatshisname, that Pines lad. “Yeah, why not,” Pacifica said, hefting the axe and plodding inside.
She walked straight through and sat down, right in his minimalist white kitchen. He winced; that seat cushion would be stained forevermore. She leant the axe against the table, her eyes gazing hungrily at his breakfast. “Can I have something to eat? I’m famished.”
“Why yes,” he said politely, “don’t mind if you-” She grabbed his french toast and tore into it like an animal. When she noticed his offended glare, she said, “sorry, I’ve had a busy night and not eaten much.”
Preston was about to act deferential and excuse her minor savagery, but baulked on seeing that Pacifica’s retinue even included two of those bumpkin lumberjacks, the Corduroys. They were wandering in like they owned the place, gawking at his neatly arranged shelves and modern furniture. They made their upstairs with the rest of the rabble.
Stepping around the muddy footprints and trying to ignore the heavy footfalls from above, Preston slid into the kitchen. “What exactly has been going on?”
“Demon, at the graveyard, I killed it.” She seemed too tired to explain further. Preston dropped vacantly into the opposite chair and awkwardly drummed his fingers on the table.
“Nevertheless, it’s… good to see you.”
Pacifica pursed her lips, finding it equally awkward to respond. “I wanted to put some things to rest. After last night I think I realised there was no point blaming you two for anything. Sure, a lot of my issues stem from the way I was raised, but dwelling on it won’t help me fix anything.”
Preston’s mind whirred, trying to keep up with what she was saying. “Are you trying to say you forgive us?”
Pacifica pondered it, tapping her chin, then shook her head. “Nah. Not really. I’ve been carrying around a lot of hate and I wanted to get rid of it. It’s not forgiveness, but I accept the way you were and I feel like I can move on. I hope.” She shrugged. “That’s one source of my major life issues dealt with, only like half-a-dozen left.”
“Well, you always did enjoy coming in first place. I’m sure you can handle whatever comes at you.”
For reasons he couldn’t put his finger on, Preston found Pacifica’s crooked smile ever-so unsettling. “You don’t know the half of it. Nice catch-up anyway,” The bedraggled strangers had cleaned themselves up lightly and the Corduroys were leading them down the stairs and out into the daylight. Pacifica lifted up the axe and made for the door along with them.
Preston reached out for her. “You don’t have to leave so soon. If you wait, your mother will be back from the store.”
“I’d rather not linger. I want to get home to my own shower, but first I’ve got to get these people back to their homes and families.” Pacifica shared a fond grin with the elder Corduroy as he left. He was evidently proud of something she’d done. It was an expression Preston had never teased out from his daughter himself.
As she turned to leave, Preston forced out, “I’m… pleased to see you happy. Good luck with the children, I’m sure they’ll be missing you.”
Pacifca stopped and her shoulders seemed to relax fractionally. “Well. How about that,” Preston heard her mutter. “Bye dad. Maybe I’ll see you around sometime.” She lifted the axe in salute as a way of waving goodbye, then walked out the door shutting it behind her.
Preston sat there, too stunned to react. After ten minutes, he quietly smiled to himself.
“I know why I named my daughter after you.”
In the cold January afternoon, Pacifica held a single purple flower over her heart and stared down at the unadorned stone slab with Wendy’s name inscribed on it.
“It wasn’t affection,” she said. “I was guilty, pure and simple. You saved my life, you’d already made up for your mistakes. It could have easily been me who died that day. If it wasn’t for your sense of duty…” She took a deep breath. “I think it was more than that. Last night when I faced down that monster and was inches from death I felt a sort of relief! That sounds mad. But it’s true. It was an opportunity to let go of all the negativity, all the bad deeds, and just slip away. Redemption through sacrifice. I nearly gave in. Maybe that’s what was going through your head too, when you made us leave and stayed behind with Eli. I guess I’ll never know.”
She held the violet between two fingers, gazing out across the valley. Though large patches of white remained, green leaves were already sprouting. Colour and life were returning to the forest. “I said I nearly gave in. Because I suppose that’s the difference. Dying there in the dirt wouldn’t have achieved anything. No blaze of glory, no resolution. I realise now that I want to be in control of my life again. I took my body back from that beast and that was the first step. I’d like to find out what the next step is, and the step after that.”
Pacifica’s fingers lightly brushed the still-healing scratches on her arm. “It’s been a long journey to get this far. I had my old body, but it was broken. I couldn’t have kids and I used to think that made me worthless. Then I got ‘fixed’, and for a while I was happy. Except it didn’t feel like my body anymore, I didn’t belong, it was too clean and tidy. I was a foreign agent in a hostile land. Now I’m living with the constant reminders of the pregnancy. This time I think I understand. Third time luck, right? These stretch marks and imperfect shape may not be the familiar scars I used to carry, but they’ve made this body my own.”
She looked over to where her family was waiting. Mason stood respectfully, with Leah in arm, though Merrise, holding his hand, was fidgeting. She could only expect the ten year old to care so much about adult concerns, or reminiscing over someone who was basically a stranger to her.
“If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have this family. You never were fazed by all this soul-searching stuff. Wendy Corduroy, always cool and in control. A girl who knew exactly what she wanted, who dated over a dozen guys before she was 16. I guess I was envious, subconsciously perhaps. After my family was disgraced you had something no amount of money could buy, reputation. Social capital.” She gave a hollow laugh. “Listen to me. I still sometimes sound like my parents. Treating having a lot of friends like it’s a transaction. Maybe in another life we could have been friends. Properly, I mean, not friend-of-a-friend casual acquaintances. If only we hadn’t been so tangled up in our separate lives.” The flower slipped through her fingers and rested beside the gravestone. “Goodbye, Wendy.”
She turned away, back to her family and didn’t look back. As she approached, Mason handed the baby over to Merrise, who took this as her cue to smile and skip away. Mason embraced Pacifica in a hug. “You could have told me all along.”
“I know.” Pacifica snuggled against her husband’s chest. “I was caught up in my own head.”
“Never like to cede a fight, eh?” He slyly grinned at her, then cupped her cheek. “Please don’t feel like you need to hold it all in like this again.”
Pacifica solemnly nodded. “We can have loads of fun talking about it together later. Maybe with a therapist in the room too. First, we’ve got an appointment, with the living this time.”
The blade of the axe swung down and split the chunk of wood into two even pieces. Mason wiped sweat off his brow. “Is this really necessary?”
“Oh yes,” Pacifica said from where she was reclining on the Corduroys’ porch. She had her journal open on the table, writing up her recent adventure, while Leah slept in a nearby rocking chair. “You’re making the view nicer. All those rippling muscles of yours.”
Mason blushed and placed another wooden log on the tree stump. He raised the axe again and brought it neatly down.
Next to him, his sister was still struggling on her first log, swinging the axe wildly and only making an incision about halfway in. “So why am I here too?” Zera handed another log over from the pile, staying clear of her wife’s wide swings.
“Payback for letting me wander all over the valley unsupervised, high as a kite,” Pacifica said with a smirk. “You’re not wimping out, are you? C’mon, let’s see some of that famous May Pines grit and determination.”
“Abso-tively poso-lutely!” Mabel gritted her teeth and made another useless chop, while Mason was already on his third log.
Laughing, Merrise ran through the clearing with the two Corduroy boys in pursuit. “Not so fast,” Pacifica called out, “You don’t want to trip over.” Merrise saluted and started jogging off again before the boys could tag her. Kids, Pacifica thought, smiling.
Manly Dan came from inside the cabin carrying a tray of drinks. “Another lemonade, Mrs Pines?”
“Don’t mind if I do. Thank you, Dan.” She sipped through a straw, while Manly Dan sat contentedly beside her on the porch. He kicked back and drank a lemonade of his own, enjoying watching someone else do his job for once.
Pacifica put the finishing touches on her journal entry, having sketched a likeness of the Unshriven from memory. Closing the cover, she sat back in her chair. Shutting her eyes, she felt the warm sun on her skin. In the afternoon sky a single star shone amidst the blue. Pacifica looked from it down to her sleeping daughter. “Thank you,” she whispered to the air. “For showing me that I have a future.”

Wendi-Goes
To say Dipper was anxious would be the apt word for what he is feeling, it has been some time since he and Wendy become a thing with both being in their 20s, yet he felt as if he rather fight on some monster cryptid instead of what he was doing, which is packing his things for survival and mountaineering since he was going to go on a winter apocalypse survival training with his soon-to-be fiance and her family. His girlfriend's father is the well-known Manly Dan who if rumors are believed was trained by Manotaurs since he was a teen and is strong enough to snap a person like a twig, that's a person he didn't want to be on his bad side, it was Wendy's idea to spend the Christmas with her and her family in the armageddon training instead of the couple go to some Christmas attendance or party to get his blessing so Mason agreed to it.

"Relax dude, my dad likes you, he just isn't very good at showing it." Wen comforted his boyfriend as she and him all packed up and walked to the Corduroy Cabine.

"Wendy, that man once tried to roadkill me and my sister in the agent's car when she told him that 'Sev'ral Timez' sucks." He blandly informed her.

"Yeah…he has a bit of a temper." she admitted.

"A bit is putting it lightly." he responded sarcastically.

“But, he knows about you so he is willing to give you the chance.”

“ * sight* fiiine.”

“Trust me, you won’t regret it.” she assured him.

Outside of the cabin, the rest of the Corduroys were busy being ready for the journey with their packs ready, and behold it was the man Manly Dan checking his supplies and preparing for the trip which he is going to have this time not just with his kids but also with the boyfriend of his only daughter. Honestly, he didn't know how to feel about her only daughter dating Stan's Great-Nephew, on one hand, he is certainly a far cry from Wendy's previous flings and boys he hangs around which is a plus on itself and is the town's hero, while on the other hand, he isn't exactly a 'Manly' man, the first time he met him he thought he was girl, heck even his sister had more muscular than him! sure it was years ago and since then he gained some muscles and his arms were no longer noodly, even then he wasn't exactly the ideal future Son-In-Law he had imagined; however, since he had many times proven himself as a brave individual, Wendy seems to be more active when she is around him(not even working in the Mystery Shack could get her out of her laziness before the Pines kids showed up), and as mentioned before is very different compared to the boys her daughter used to spend time around who were rude, cowardly and insecure(which he internally sighed in relief) he is willing to give him a chance and that says a lot because he hated all of Wendy's exes even from the first glance out of fatherly instinct and their mere look and cocky attitude, the fact that his fatherly instincts proven right all those times so as the superficial observations certainly didn't help either. His sons had a variety of views on Wendy's current boyfriend, Kevin was simply indifferent, and Gus liked him in contrast to Marcus who looked at him with suspicion.

“Hi, guys! Sorry if I'm late!” She greeted her family.

“What’s your nerd boyfriend doing here?” Marcus inquired, before Dipper could answer her girlfriend did.

“He is coming with us, I thought to show my boyfriend the Corduroy ropes.”

Dan let out an accepting grunt “Fine then, everyone check your belongings, we move the next 10 minutes.” He walked inside the house to make sure nothing was at the miss.

“Ya, sure he can handle it? Looks a bit squeamish.” he mocked Kevin snickering, before Dipper could bite back Wendy came to his defense.

“Then perhaps I should bring Mabel instea-”

“NOOOO!” All her brothers responded simultaneously in alarm, hence Wendy and Dipper smirking, they met Mabel for the first time when she was in her Boyz Crazy phase, and let’s just say she was too much for them to handle even after she grew out of her phase.

“I mean…sure your boyfriend can!” Kevin spoke for the boys as he and they shuddered at the recall of the glitter incident.

Years ago….

There it was Mabel in a monstrous glitter-matched sweater which written 'I'm the trouble' in the Corduroy Cabin looking at the shaking Corduroy boys like a piece of meat "Who wants to read my sparky vampire fanfics?" She grinned maliciously with eyes sparking with madness.

Or at least that was the interpretation of that fateful event. Since then, Mabel had a restraining order to never be near Corduroy's cabin to her dismay, not the only time she got a restraining order thanks to her completely disastrous pursuit of a romantic life mind you, and not for the lack of trying.

“Glad we reached an agreement!” She accompanied Dipper and strolled with him.

After the 10 minutes were over they began their journey to the woods which were covered in snow. During the travel Dipper faced difficulties thanks to the eldest brother of Wendy, he gave him a hard time like one time when he intentionally stole his pillow during a night's sleep which forced him to use a rock instead or the constant ridicule he and cold shoulder he gave, to Dipper’s credit he didn’t snap as he wanted to be liked by his girlfriend’s family, though this feud hasn’t been unnoticed by Wendy who during twilight when the group was moving pass a river she chose to finally settle this as she left the formation and came near Marcus.

“Is it necessary to give him a hard time?” Wendy said sternly, deciding to finally confront him.

“I don’t trust that boyfriend of yours, he and his family are like magnets for trouble, everyone knows that, I just don’t want you to end up with a broken heart again.” he reasoned.

"Oh, that's so sweet and considerate of you…if only you showed the same concern you had about my dating life before!" Wendy snapped at the startled Marcus.

“Hold on a moment-” he was cut short before he could come up with a retort.

"The tattoo guy, that jock from 10th grade, Robbie THE Edgelord ! I literally was a magnet for dregs of Gravity Falls, where was your concern when I dated them!" she pointed at him accusingly, he opened his mouth to say something but got cut off again.

"Oh, that's right! You didn't care! You all have been too busy trying to impress father the 'Manliest Man in Gravity Falls', And now, I finally have a boyfriend who isn't some edgy manchild or has a stick in his butt then suddenly you care?? Dipper is more honorable and manly than half the lot of you! While you were busy trying to catch a fish with your fist he faced literal monsters that would reduce you into a gibberish mess! And FYI this is mine to deal with, your problem is you don't know when to shut up spewing crap! You see this face?" She points at her angry face "THIS will always be the face that means shut your bullcrap!"

"I-" put more emphasis on her own face with both of her hands.

"Er-" her frown got even deeper.

He grunts in defeat, knowing it is a losing battle, and after that, his sister moves away furiously.

Just then Kevin moved near him "Wow, she shut your trap real good.” he commented, prompting Marcus to push him away in annoyance which caused him to snicker.

As night came, a blizzard of snow, even with their equipment they couldn't continue in this weather unless they wanted to die of hypothermia so they tried finding a place to settle.

“KIDS! OVER THERE! WE SETTLE THERE!” Daniel shouted at the group and pointed at the entrance to a cave, so they ventured inside.

“Wohoh, even in gloves my hands were feeling numb.” Kevin looked at his shaky hands.

“Spread out! There could be an animal here so we better search the place before settling in.`` The boys minus the Pines whined, yet they followed his command and brought their flashlights to check the place. After minutes of searching this place, they found nothing but bones.

“ALL CLEAR DAD! Let’s camp!” Wendy shouted, so she left her backpack and started making a campfire with the rest looking for wood or anything to use as fuel for the fire.

*Clicking sounds of stones*

“What’s that?” Gus heard the sound as if something was walking, he looked over the source of the sound; nevertheless, found nothing but darkness.
*clicking*

He heard that sound again so he ready his knife from his left hand with the other hand holding his source of light, he slowly walked and narrowed his eyes to make anything. He thought it was just some rat and how he wished that was the case when he lost a year of his life in shock at what it revealed to him.

" Aeeeeha !" A pale-skinned humanoid with milky eyes, dirty and half-destroyed clothes so decomposed that it is unrecognizable what style it used to be, and sharpened mole rat-like teeth appeared without warning in a low screech in front of Kevin from the dark, being startled and terrorized he dropped his flashlight and prior he had the chance to scream his right hand with long fingers and nails covered his mouth from screaming with while the other hand holds him on shoulders in place “ ehheeheee!” Gud was petrified in fear, Dan looked around instinctive and saw one of his sons in the mercy of a thin-pale skin humanoid whose limbs were longer than its body, with no time to waste he jumped and brought his ax down on the thing’s hand which grabbed Gus from the neck, the hand got cut and fell with black blood oozing from the screaming creature as it backed away, quickly Dan grabbed his kid from the back of his collar and moved him away, the whole thing was enough to grab everyone’s attention, soon they sprinted and joined with the father of the Corduroys, unluckily the screams of the pale thing was heard by his kin as well as more and more member of its kind came some crawling from the roof others from the ground like lizards.

As the group made a protective circle and lit the place using flashlights more humanoid monstrosities came and surrounded them, Wendy with an ax, Marcus with a hunting rifle, Gus with a small needle knife, Mason bringing his hunting knife from his backpack, and Daniel with a waterfowl shotgun.

“What the hell are they!?” Marcus exclaimed with his hunting rifle pointed.

"Wendigos…" Mason informed him with his hunting knife ready, he wished he had brought high-tech weaponry if it weren’t for the insistence on using low-tech tools for the winter apocalypse training, as he noticed one of them seemed to be the alpha of the pack which noticeably had red archaic lines across its body with the skull of deer with huge antlers which it wears like a helmet, all it was visible of his face under the skull was glowing white eyes which reminded him of predators with night visions he once saw in a nature documentary.

“You are a monster expert! How do we kill these things?” Gus questioned in urgency.

“Fire is their weakness, grab anything flammable and use it!” Before anyone could act the alpha screeched which commanded the pack to swarm on them so they used their weapons, Wendy managed to take one by axing on the attacker’s skull which rained black blood out of it till he took the ax off to fight off the others, Dan shot two of them bullseye and used his gun like a sledgehammer when one of the abominations came near him with Gus behind him, Dipper sprinted over and grabbed a large bone from the ground and then covered it’s head with dirty remained patches around it, next one of the attacking wendigos jumped at him and tried to take a bite at him with Dipper struggling to keep the monster away from his head.

“HEY! Off my boyfriend! Get your own!” Wendy aided Mason by slashing the wendigo’s head into a flying head.

“Thanks Wen.” Dipper thanked and finally took his lighter to light it up, using his torch he shooed the screeching man-eaters and even set one on fire as it vocalized an unholy shriek before it died.

Another of those pale cannibals caught Gus off-guard and nearly got its sharpened claws approximately on the shocked kid until his father came and shield himself between his son and the thing, a slashed crimson mark near his left shoulder across his arm, and then punch the abomination on the face with its teeth flying over.

“Are you okay boy?

“Yes, Are you!?” he asked incredulously.

“No!” He shouted as he tried to stop the bleeding from his wound near the shoulder.

Seeing that, Marcus tried to get his hands on his lighter till one of the hordes took him by surprise, tossed his lighter away, and before he could use his rifle to smack on it the cannibal threw him like a ragdoll. “WOOOAH!” he crashed into the cave’s wall and moaned in pain. “ Ow! These things are becoming a pain in my aAAAA!” he yelped due to the beast which threw him away now racing toward him and jumped with his fangs and teeth tearing him a new, he would have been slashed into a grizzly end if it weren’t for a flamer aimed at the attacker from a flame gun belonged to Dipper, the entity fell near Marcus as it burst to flame with it screaming until it was nothing but a chartered corpse, Marcus looked in amazement to the boyfriend of his sister who simply nodded and used his torch to send more of the assaulting horde on fire while also being careful to not get sliced by them.

By then, the Corduroys followed Dipper's advice and used whatever flammable things they could get their hands on and touched them to shoo and send the wendigos on fire some did some ingenuity to their credit like Kevin using his secretly-stashed sprayer which he smuggled, and a lighter together to have his flamethrower, more and more of them got burned or died by other means until no more of them came, all that remained were their corpses either by fire, bullets or axes and knives.

Marcus panted heavily “I think that’s all of them.” he kicked one of the dead bodies.

“No it’s not, look, the one with a deer skull is not anywhere.” Wen reminded them, so they stand alert trying to find where the pack leader went with Dipper this time arming himself with brass knuckles, a gift from Stanley on one of his and his sister’s birthdays(though, they had to keep that a secret until now that they were in legal age and only used it for emergency). Unfortunately for the Corduroy’s patriarch, the last wendigo was up on the roof using the darkness as camouflage coming toward him slowly and slowly with its hungry maw opened dripping with saliva for its prey.

“BEHIND YOU!” the Pines boy cried out to Dan who in turn back, before he could react the anthropophagus with one of its hands slammed him on his face, for a skinny creature it was surprisingly strong, the rest of the group hurried to aid him; however, it was too late as the thing took a bite from Dan’s right arm between his shoulder and wrist.

"NOOOOO!" They screamed as they ran with Wendy who was the nearest giving a kick to the anthropologist's head which resulted in it jumping back to the roof at much distance and hissing.

“DAD! You okay?” Kevin questioned in urgency.

“I'm fine! I dealt with worse, although I felt a bit dizzy…”

“That’s because that thing took a chunk out of your flesh you testosterone-drunk bear!” Wendy snapped at his denial, indeed the abominable humanoid ripped a part of its flesh and now it was bleeding, whilst others didn’t take their eyes off the cannibalistic monster which they could swear looked a bit smug as it chews and swallowed with his tongue licking its lips clearly enjoying the taste, Wendy used her emergency kit to disinfect her father’s wound and stop the bleeding.

"You like my taste skinny?” Manly Dan roared at the gazing creature “Then it's a good thing that I'm…ABSOLUTELY DRUNK WITH CORDUROY'S SPECIAL MOONSHINE! HAHAHAHAHA!" Manly Dan cackles madly as the wendigo which took a bite of his flesh starts to look disoriented with its eyes dilating.

It took the other in surprise before Dipper blinked and registered "That's…that’s ingenious! You have poisoned yourself with a high dosage of arsenic as a safety precaution!" impressed, ignorant of the obvious.

"THAT IS DEFINITELY WHY I DID THAT!" Daniel with his still gritted teeth said in a mix of pain, embarrassment, and a sense of schadenfreude for giving the wendigo 'screw you' in the most ironic way, Wendy almost rolled her eyes if it weren't for the urgency of the situation, in one desperate move the pack leader tried to move away and then in as an act of intimidation it sharpens its claws and hanged his long skinny arms around like wings in an act of intimidation until it dropped to the earth so as it’s bony helmet away from him.

"It's vulnerable now! Now it's the time!" Dipper called everyone.

"You heard him! Let’s kill the bastard!” Marcus concurred.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-!” the boys and the girl roared with every breath of their lungs and raced toward the now intimidated Wendigo which didn’t know what it should do or react other than making a weak Howell, it didn’t get the chance to decide once the Pines and the Corduroys attacked with their weapons and beat the crap out of it, brass knuckles, axes, knives, punches, kicks all falling on him non-stop till it was nothing but a bloody pulp and died.

“You mess with a Corduroy, you mess with all of us!” Gus spits on the beaten dead body in spite.

“Not that I’m not proud of y'all are a show of brutality, but can you please bandage me up before I die from blood loss?” the patriarch gestured with his eyes to his cut.

“Right! Right!” Wendy returned to him to bandage his injury, whereas the rest collected themselves with Marcus walking toward Mason.

“Hey Pines!” He called him which got his attention. “I’m not good at apologies and thank you so I will make it quick.” he scratched the back of his head in nervousness “Sorry about giving you crap and thanks for saving my ass.”

“No problem, Water off the bridge, I have a sister too so I get it.” He shrugged, accepting his apology.

Gus moved toward the fallen deer skull, after which he took it and checked it around “Wow, a cool trophy!
we now ha-” Dipper snatched the skull before he could wear it on his head and threw it hard on earth, resulting in it shattering into a million pieces.

“HEY! That was-”

Without alarm a surge of black magic in black came up and turned into smoke which grabbed their attention, there was an awkward moment before someone finally said something.

“You’re welcome.” he nonchalantly said and moved past his girlfriend’s youngest brother who was still looking at the pieces dumbstruck Wendy’s oldest brother considering his soon-to-be brother-in-law just saved a member of the Corduroy family again .

Minutes later the fire was made in the middle of the cave a bandaged Manly Dan with the rest of the group circled around using the heat to warm themselves and cook their meals on sticks, the corpses of the massacred wendigos were being used as fuel for a separate campfire so that they won’t have to deal with their stinky rotten stink.

“Man, if this is what it is like being in one of your adventures, no wonder why our sister is always eager to spend time with you.” Kevin with his almost cooked marshmallows commented.

“To be fair, this one just came out of nowhere, it's not like any of us had a way of knowing it,” he remarked.

“Bah! Who needs Christmas when you can commit a massacre on man-eating abominations with your family guilt-free!" She nodded to the burning pile of wendigos, Gus looked at her weirdly as Kevin until they made eye contact with each other and shrugged.

After a few moments of silence just looking at the fire and processing the ordeal they fasted before Mason finally dared to slap his hands together to ask Wendy’s dad the question “So…Me and Wendy were thinking since we have been a thing for some time if we can have your blessing in me becoming her fiance-”

“No.” he gave a fast nonchalant answer that surprised everyone including the dumbstruck Pines.
“bu-but …” Dan’s soon to be son-in-law stammed.

“Not until you drink one coup from my family’s special moonshine.” he grabs his flask and pour the liquid into a metallic mug and then gave it to him, Dipper hesitantly looked at the poured mug, it smelled like death and gasoline having a baby, his nose pinched in recoil. He looked back at Manly Dan whose look told him to drink it, he let out a breath and drink it which felt like bile in his throat, after drinking it his face expressed in pain, trying very hard to not throw up with the rest of Corduroys looking at him grinning.

“ * BLAH!* it-ts…the absolute foulest thing I ever put in my mouth…” Now he felt a burning sensation in his stomach while he spoke weakly with his mouth tasting like octane, the Corduroys laughed at his misfortune.

“Welcome to the family, son!” Daniel gave his blessing and gave a hard affectionate smack on his back in mirth which nearly caused him to fall.

“I-i-feeeel…trippy..~” Mason fell unconscious when the effects of the drink came, alarmed his girlfriend came to check him with the Corduroy boys now laughing like hyenas.

“DAD!” she roared back at her father.

“I DIDN’T MEAN FOR THAT TO HAPPEN!” He defended himself.

“I TOLD YOU HE WAS A LIGHT DRINKER!” Wendy's fiance was still sleeping like a sleeping beauty as the only daughter of Manly Dan chewed her father up with the boys still laughing hoarsely, he was now rather dealing with the wendigos than his enraged daughter.
