contanuing my bug (and slithering thang) headcanons emf hates flying and crawling bugs but like some types of beetles- and he also rlly likes ladybugs seawatt uses his snake to scare ppl off he doesnt like. or get his way. he will literally do that thing where u hold the snake in a way so it's fangs?? teeth?? do the venom squirting thing (0 knowledge on how snakes work) if evbo goes outside in summer he lathers himself in bug spray (NOT insect repellent. bug spray). he told seawatt abt this and seawatt hasn't bothered to tell him he's fucking up his insect repellents. emf doesnt know. when seawatt was w/ TEC his snake accidently bit the champ and seawatt had to do a brewing stand jump to try and cure the venom affect (he failed 2 times and nearly but TEC on his deathbed) emf has an ant colony. sometimes the ants get out and evbo freaks out and wont show up for like... 2 weeks seawatt leaves his snakes shedded skin around the champion layer just to purposefully rile emf up emf almost lost a parkour battle to a venomous spider because he kept shaking seawatt has a scar on his arm, and he claims it's from a bite- but everytime someone asks which one he changes the animal. when evbo asked seawatt said it was a spider bite, but when emf asked seawatt said it was from an ant. evbo likes butterflies but if one comes near him he will scream and run away uhh send ask do we sign things off on this blog?? like... - bug man?
(x)
#i love the butterfly one sorry#ALSO YES!! the snakes. you hold them at the back of their neck and it kinda forces their jaw open#then they just fold out their fangs or smth and pew pew#also no signing things off isn't mandatory some people js like to do it bc its easy to find their own asks while still being anonymous LMAO#ask#parkour civilization#parkciv#evbo#parkour civilisation#mcytblr#seawatt#evbo's master friend#emf#tec#the evil champion#bug man?#there u go thats ur tag

they should let me explode things with my mind. for enrichment.
#borbtalks#yay i love unexpected additions to my budget#yay i love new policies that make it so im paying extra for shit i can't even use#(mandatory parking spot getting new permit system. permit is tied to a vehicle. i don't own a car.#i can't get a permit for guests to use my spot. im effectively paying for a parking spot i can't even use.#have already asked landlord if i can stop paying for it. since their new rules make it so i can't even use it)#(and like 95% of rental assistance programs like the one i use will help with utility payments. but not the one im in !!#which they don't make fucking clear on their site !!!#and of course the unit i picked i have to pay all the utilities on my own !!!!#AND they just changed policies so if i had signed my lease after the new year i could've gotten a much cheaper rent#BUT NO IM UNLUCKY AND HAD TO MOVE OUT BEFORE I KILLED MYSELF. BC SPENDING XMAS WITH MY FAMILY WOULD'VE DONE THAT#aha.#medicaid suggested i should apply for food stamps even before i moved out#but according to a calculator. even with all my new housing costs with rent and utilities. i would only get the absolute minimum in snap#besties is a stressful interview + application process worth it for only $20/a month#like woohoo. i could get a teensy bit of money off my grocery bill. this is totally worth it /s)#dont get me wrong i would choose this stress over living with my parents any day. but that doesn't mean this isn't stressful

wild to me that it takes hours for people in the usa to vote. it's never taken me more than 10 minutes and that's including the inevitable chit chat with the people there because they're either my parents' neighbours or the parents of people i went to school with.
#literally have your voting card and some kind of id ready#if you don't have your voting car then you just have to look up what desk you're supposed to go to usually it's split alphabetically so#for albonium it would be desk 1#get there give id (either my id my passport my social security card my driving license or a hunting permit (💀))))))))#pick up the little papers and an envelop#get in the booth#put the little paper in the envelop#that's if you haven't done it at home already#get out#put it in the box#the person there says “ HAS VOTED”#you sign next to your name#take your id#and fuck off#before your cousin's neighbours' grandma asks how your aunt is doing and if you've heard about the bakery being closed because the baker's#wife cheated on him and now he's got to take care of the kids and aetstdfhgfsgjgthj#you get what i mean#10 minutes tops#even in big cities#also it's always by paper like this if you want you can vote for someone else but you have to file papers at the police station#people empty the boxes and count them all together#if you want you're allowed to stay and watch as they count#or you can ask beforehand to participate in the counting#kids are automatically signed up on the voting lists when they turn 18 if they've done their mandatory 'defense and citizenship" day#ok this one is kind of propaganda-y for the army the cops etc but at the same time it allows to test the entire population to see if they'r#illeterate (there's grammar spelling etc tests)#do some driving rules lessons#cpr training#reminder about blood donations etc#which imo is important

discussion of a religious song so dont read this if you dont want that but im not focusing really on the religious part anyway.
ask folks what they like about their favourite music.
just wanted to share cause its my mother's favourite christmas song;
my mother loves Little Drummer Boy above all christmas music. to me its always been a sort of 'its sweet and slow and i like it, one of the more tolerable religious songs' but nothing more, so i asked her why its her favourite. and her answer was along the lines of
'well, its just sweet is all. heres this little kid, hes got nothing, but he heard there was a king born and so he goes to see the baby, and he says 'im a poor boy too', and he doesnt have anything to give him, but he has this one thing he can do for him. he can play the drum for him. its small and its not much, but its what he can give, and so he does. and it works, cause the baby smiles. makes me teary every time'
and lemme tell ya. i got 0 of her crying-genes and i am now unable to maintain composure listening to that damn song. 'i played my best for him, then he smiled at me' i am weeping
#the image of this little boy thats got nothing#divorce it from all religious context.#just this little boy hearing that a king has been born in a barn#and theres other kings giving him grand expensive gifts fit for a king#and he doesnt have anything. he cant give any gift let alone one fit for a king#but he can play for him. and he does.#my blooming into an agnostic has left me with lots of reflection on why i liked certain songs at my mandatory school mass#and the BIGGEST thing was. its a person. tell it like a person#and little drummer boy does that perfectly#i am misty-eyed imagining a newborn looking at this little boy. swaddled up. and he plays a little drum and the baby smiles.#its humanity. and i never sat and thought abt it for this song til my mother said that#so ask ppl why certain songs are their favourites#anyway im gonna go re-up on silent night in sign language#cause i used to know the whole thing#.yappin

One thing that has deeply annoyed me about the response from Americans/Westerners about this week's events in Korea is that a lot of them, including people I like and respect, are like, "The protesting civilians and lawmakers who barged into the National Assembly would've been shot if this were the U.S./this would've never happened in the U.S. because people are too afraid of being shot." There's some truth to that, at least with regard to state violence, but I'm fed up because it doesn't account for how frightening this could have turned out to be had it not been for how much of an inept flop dunce Yoon Sukyeol is. It minimizes the courage of those who showed up.
Sure, it was likely that the military and riot police wouldn't have done much (again, YSY's self-coup wasn't thought out well, and there's more evidence of that as military officials and soldiers are speaking up about the lack of information they received, but I'll refrain from talking about that to avoid making this even longer than it inevitably will be, knowing myself), but let's not pretend there haven't been issues with them in recent years. They pepper sprayed and used water cannons during an anniversary rally for the Sewol ferry victims (x) (x) (if you don't understand how unbelievably cruel that is, look into the horrific Sewol ferry sinking). They tear gassed crowds (Korea has a gruesome history of this) and sprayed water cannons, and citizens have been injured and killed during the 2015 protests and 2016-17 Park Geunhye impeachment protests, notably Baek Namgi, an elderly activist whose death caused global outrage (x) (x). Park Geunhye was going to enforce martial law during those protests according to a leaked document, with hundreds of tanks, thousands of soldiers and special force troops! (x)
Not to mention, there are decades of extreme state violence that have scarred an entire country and are still super fresh for a huge percentage of the population. Again, check out that tear gas history piece. Look up the April Revolution, Gwangju massacre, and June uprising and see just how bloody they were. Thousands of civilians were tortured and killed. Look at how many protests were going on year after year during the 1980s. That isn't that long ago! All those older people who ran to the National Assembly to stop the coup? You bet a lot of them were college students who protested during that time or knew people who did. All the younger people? They may not have experienced what it was like living under martial law, but as I said, state violence still occurs, however much it's dwindled over the years, and you have to account for generational trauma. I don't think I'll ever forget the way I felt when I saw the breaking news alert about the martial law declaration on December 3. I've never experienced that, at least to that degree.
Instead of viewing the response from civilians and elected officials through the framework of police brutality in the U.S., it should be contextualized using Korea's own history. Thankfully most of the serious discussions are doing this, but like I said, even people who are smart about reading up on things have reflected on how this wouldn't fly in the U.S., not because of the difference in protest history, civil movements, and public engagement with both in the two countries but because of the military/police response. There's an insinuation there that Koreans would be more reluctant to do what they did if they knew what it's like to live in fear of violence instead of living in such a safe country like Korea...and I want to yell.
It was monumentally brave of everyone to do what they did to stop the coup. We're all laughing at how stupid the coup was and there's a reason why people were more furious than scared because of the political history of Korea and the laws set in place to protect the democracy and neutralize coup attempts, but this could have easily become a disaster. It's not alarmist of me to say so because there was no way for anyone to be 100% sure of how the military would react—especially when no one knew what the hell was going on.
#i am...not vibing with these posts about how people are like 'omg those poor soldiers/good on them for dragging their feet'#yes mandatory military service means being there against your will#and i DO believe a lot of soldiers probably were super shaken or confused by what was going on#especially with the news coming out that soldiers weren't aware of what their mission was#to find out your orders and see your people look at you with rage disgust and maybe even fear especially as a young person...#i get that it's upsetting and you can tell that a lot of them didn't want to be there!#but lol are we forgetting there are people who weren't conscripts involved?#are we forgetting that people will follow directions if it's drilled into them to do say especially with the threat of retaliation?#are we forgetting that mandatory military service goes back decades#and amazingly soldiers and police still committed atrocities against civilians during previous protests or what?#idk i think it's your moral duty to engage in weaponized incompetence malicious compliance insubordination etc.#when you're asked to do something evil so i don't really want to praise people for being decent#even if i'm glad they did and i'm relieved they did it you know? but that's just me#omg sorry i'm ranting. ANYWAY! history in every single country has shown#how easy it can be for things to go south rapidly so while there were things that made the coup expire as quickly as it did#and it's HILARIOUS and i'm enjoying myself...it could have turned out very different#just a few wrong turns—just ONE wrong turn—and it could have been bad#rules and orders are good and all but if someone wants to commit violence they will do it#i'm just relieved i didn't have time to worry myself sick over this before it was all over lmao#so i can just feel a lot of pride and admiration for everyone doing their best to exercise and protect their rights#and do it with great panache and fun. the protests are like concerts! the protest songs are so funny#the signs!!!!! i'm dying over them. the number of people paying for food and drinks for the protestors#enough that businesses in the protest areas had to stop taking prepaid orders!#the older people who said they have to get to the front that night to protect all the young protestors with their bodies#in case the military tries to attack civilians! 😭 that part made me almost cry#the ajusshi who (drunkenly?) shouted how much he loved all his friends who came out to protest like the old days#democracy is fragile and we have to protect it#and i think korea right now is a shining beacon of the power of the people

Things I think Wayne Enterprises offers:
free/subsidized secondary education with a two contract post graduation
After school programs for k-12 that cover a variety of extracurriculars and education needs
Free parenting classes/counseling through a third party clinic that has zero ties to WE beyond the contract and a seperate board to oversee it
Free childcare ages 0-5
Paid Parental leave of 6-12 months, both parents can apply
Healthcare that covers fertility and birth control treatments
Dental
Post prison employment opportunities
Paid internships
#is this childcare focused? maybe. I have tunnel vision a little#anyways I do think Bruce signed up for parenting classes#side note it's mandatory for a foster license which he has#and I think he was discussing it with one of his employees who basically said oh we looked into it but it was very expensive and the books#are basically the same? right? and he immediately fixed that

hear me out, i havent stopped thinking about heartbroken ed's crew's new uniform vibes
izzy 'I'm not smearing that stuff on my face' hands vs ed 'it's not optional' teach: fight
outcome: izzy carefully applying precise eyeliner each morning using little more than the dim light of sunrise and one of the fancy trays stede left behind
#izzy hands#ofmd s2#does izzy deserve an actual mirror? of course#he's always so tidy and well put together that he probably does have a little one tucked away somewhere#but let's pretend izzy tucked away a small shiny platter while they were chucking all stede's stuff overboard#i wonder if he'd eventually start thinking of it as his and forget where it came from#or if he'd always feel like it's a part of stede#also... holding my breath for a moment in s2 where ed is cupping izzy's face in his palm with his thumb over the x#and before he pulls his hand away he wipes over izzy's eyelid and smears the perfect outline into something messy and used#something he recognizes. something that's comfortable#how long until izzy would wash his face clean and redo the mandatory mask the way he likes - sharp edges and clean lines#or would he keep it just as ed had left it... a sign that the moment was real#yet another way to show that he's blackbeard's#after all he already wears the x so what's one more mark of his loyalty? his obedience?#this is not where i thought i was going with this but you know what. i stand by it#just a little post

Not a big fan of the new Cool Corporate thing where they talk about protecting your mental health and preventing burnout as if that's entirely on you and has nothing to do with the work they're given which is. the actual cause of burnout and mental health issues
#'don't forget to take care of yourself' is used as 'if you have a problem then make sure to fit that into your work day.#like get 8 hours worth of work AND me-time done in your 8 hour day. not my problem.'#crying and throwing up bc you missed the mandatory 'signs you have burnout' workshop lol

Work pulled me onto the central time zone survey from the EST one and i swear to fuck if they force me to work the extra late central shift when i made clear I couldn't im gonna...
do nothing, bc I'm Me and also i need the job. But I'm gonna be pissy abt it and wish that management wasn't an entire Mess and crappy abt everything here
#text post#figured they'd toss me back to EST once i got a survey and/or some numbers down on the CST one#and yet here i sit on the CST survey 10 min break feeling a Vibe that suggests they're going to suddenly make it mandatory#unless you have kids or care for someone elderly or ill which are usually the two things they'll accept and let you go#otherwise? better not bitch abt it or you're going into a disciplinary if they don't just fire you outright#they're struggling to even remember who was scheduled to work tonight and forgot to assign some ppl their supers#so it might even be they just forgot the shift i signed up for#however. i don't give a fuck abt that bc it's their job to keep thet straight not mine#and i plan to be done at the end of my usual shift for mondays with my new schedule#and that is not at nearly 1030 at night goddamn it

I want to learn ASL but I'm not sure where to start. I was raised by my deaf grandfather but I was never taught ASL since he never properly learned it as a child in the 60s. I feel like I should still learn it since I have other deaf family members as well.
if anyone has any recommendations on where to start learning, I'd be so greatful!!
#i feel like asl should be mandatory in schools#instead of spanish#i might be biased since i already speak spanish#asl#american sign language
