That's still a weird reason. And I'd say it's less the case when a person identifies with a character. In 80% of the cases where I observe misgendered Valdemar and attribution to them (mostly male, btw): it's just dictated by the fact that the author of such "edits" is just a straight girl who loves dangerous characters and dreaming about gothic princes (kinda Severus Snape or, for god's sake, Edward C… Heathcliff, iykwim). And such girl (mostly girl, btw) just doesn't care about, say, comfort of non-binary people or canon information. You can look at the illustration of the most common case from the Arcana wiki:

However, I've also seen cases where such girls tried to play non-binary (but it was always next to "Valdemar the man" in their headcanons, fics and such). They were good enough for... a month at most. And speaking of comfort, as someone who's been non-binary pretty much all my life, and whose parents tried to "cure" me of it. As someone who, at best, heard the doctors' excuse: "Maybe your child is just playing and will stop soon", which of course did not reassure the parents. And I understood the validity of the doctors' words, because already in 15/16/17 years I saw enough how many people played it and these people forgot about their %any sort of queerness% very quickly. Not locked down in the closet, but forget.

But wow, I'm fucking 30 years old now and I'm still non-binary, I haven't stopped being non-binary for a second, even when I didn't know the word. And I don't really want to worry about the comfort of those who don't give a shit that I'm non-binary and reject non-binary as the whole concept (or about my trans siblings and being trans-person). This is an issue that goes beyond a funny otome-game. And it's not a game anymore, because anyway, my identity is not something that some straight girl/boy can throw away for their own fucking reasons, wow. Whatever they may be.

And finally, a few words about "I misgender them because I want to fuck them". Can I tell you exactly how many times that's happened in my life, or will you go round?

[I’ve seen people headcanon non binary characters as afab or amab and for some reason it really bothers me. Even if they are just fictional characters, it seems disrespectful and rude. Its completely possible to have a character that has no biological gender. I just find it really annoying.]

Welcome in the last of the dorms that's been sitting around since like September 😭😭😭

🪸 Octavinelle 🪸

Ignore that the background colours don't match, I forgot to check the shade 😭😭😭. Headcanons about Octavinelle as a whole, it's the most accessible dorm since many of the students are mer that haven't been on land before and typically use wheelchairs, canes, braces, etc. Additionally, it's pretty dark as well since most residents have good dark vision.

First up, our lovely shady business man:

We're not gonna talk about the um, in between with him (it was so ugly 💀) and instead talk about how much I HATE drawing glasses.

I made him look both more like Ursula and less, I gave him her blue eye shadow but made the lipstick match. Put his mole on the same side and shaped his face to look more like hers too.

The highlight was doing his hair. I decided not to give him fins and instead make his hair look like the ocean itself. I took inspo from Sea Fairy Cookie art, ngl, and gave him Ursula's earrings.

He's a Business major, obvi. And I decided he's Honduran and Guatemalan.

🪼 Konane Alohi 🪼

FUCK I forgot to colour one of the piercings... God damn it. Ignore that.

Anyways, he's so groovy now, gave him a surfer hair style and even more piercings. I just simplified her palette and used the colours a bit better, honestly.

Unique Magic - "Shiny": Anything that gets touched during the duration of the spell becomes shiny, as though covered in golden glitter. People can be affected, though it wears off of biological material when it comes into contact with water.

They're a Cosmetology and Communications major and a part of the Film Research Club. Their birthday is August 1st (Leo).

Hestia for sure was the Cater of this dorm, I redid her so many times... But this one I'm finally happy with! Thank you, Pinterest!

I mainly just used with her hair and I saw these super cute curls that reminded me of the movie, so boom! Also gave her roulette earrings, for fun.

I also have been tossing around the idea of corset piercings for her but who knows.

Unique Magic - "A Game Of Luck": Hestia can make her luck for the next week with either good or bad. Once the time is up, the unchosen luck type with take immediate effect until the luck has been balanced out.

She's a Business major and a part of the Boardgame Club (she's incredibly lucky and it pisses off Azul to no end). Her birthday is October 31st (Scorpio).

No huge changes here, just darkened the colours so he and Floyd are more 'predator' coloured. Added a couple more piercings and yeah.

He's a Botany (maybe Ecology or Bio, it's up in the air) and Psychology major, surprise to no one.

FLOYDDDDDDD!! We would be besties, trust. Anyways, I gave her longer hair in a bit of a mullet, that's just super Floyd, I dunno.

My fav thing about TAZ is that any aspect out of context sounds fucking bonkers.

Like, in the balance finale there's a scene in which Garfield (who is very specifically never described visually bc most people imagine him as like. The Lasagna Cat. Who in this universe is the most powerful warlock in the realm and also has a hobby of cloning people, which is great for the one character that got forced into haunting a mannequin) is summoned by an alien spaceship that runs on the power of friendship so he could beat up some flashing balls. In D&D.

And that was just. Such a normal scene in the narrative. No one blinked an eye. I would like to bow down to Griffins clear unmatched talent for making me feel such big emotions over ridiculous shit like a goddamned umbrella or a regular ass pair of jeans or the idea of a taco recipe.

Now, though, it's you warming him. Ever since he came back to Castle Black (while helping cover patrols atop the wall, you'd spotted him lingering at the edge of a nearby copse of trees, firing an arrow into the ground near his feet when he turned to leave. He'd spun back towards the wall, his eyes snapping up to you with an eerie precision) he'd been...different. Not in attitude - though he was a bit more sullen - but his appearance and body temperature. You couldn't put your finger on what it was about him that looked so different (a lie you repeated to yourself when really you knew - he looked like a frozen corpse.) The thought made you shudder. You couldn't imagine being so thoroughly frozen, inside and out. You've brought yourself to tears a few times, trying to wrap your mind around his suffering.

So. Now. The two of you sit in front of the same fireplace you'd sat at so many times before, atop furs and wrapped in an absolutely massive blanket (a handmade gift from Sansa, for "Uncle Benjen and his Caretaker". The playful jab made you laugh upon reading it, having already wrapped yourself in the blanket, grateful to know someone as kind as she has always been) He leans into you, exhaling as another shiver runs through him, his cold breath leaving goosebumps on your neck. You run your hands across his back, up and down his arms. You rake your fingers through his hair, brush them against his cheeks. Occasionally he catches your wrist to tug your hand to his lips, placing a kiss there so gentle it nearly makes you sob. You hold him tighter each time, swearing to whatever gods might be listening that you will find a way to help him.

At the moment though, the two of you are exhausted, content simply holding and being held.
