(not to mention that he was beginning to realize then that he IS dying. and he IS being brought back.)

- then, in comes inspector. from even the first few days of his arrival, he provided rookie support and comfort near constantly. dopey had a bad feeling every time he heard the man speak. rookie on the other hand, was like a moth to a flame. teen who lost his dad + scared and vunerable is insanely easy to manipulate. especially if youre presenting yourself now as someone older and more experienced who cares about you and listens to you ect ect ect.

- inspector would intentionally attempt to hide information from him, such as the sigurd logs note. (he noticed the note was being hidden from him). inspector also would occasionally kind of… try to sew distrust inside of rookie towards the other crew members, and especially fostering the distrust towards dopey further.

- eventually rookie does find the logs and reads them with dopey. they both learn a lot, and while rookie didnt trust dopey a lot then, this among other miscellaneous interactions made his thoughts and feelings towards dopey more complicated. he began to feel guilty for going against inspectors wishes of not “looking in too deeply”. because of this guilt, he confesses to inspector about what they had done. “rookie, what did dopey tell you?”. he promised rookie he wasnt mad, but inside he was SEETHING. its at that point that inspector realized how much of a problem dopey will be.

- dopey began to then realize via observation that rookie is being deeply deeply manipulated by inspector. this started a whole thing where dopey would try to forge more trust from rookie and attempt to get him to realize that hes being taken advantage of. later on, eventually rookie breaks down a bit to inspector alone on the company building (lower level). he admits how scared he is of everything. but most importantly: that he shouldnt be here. that hes only 16. he thought he could handle this all, but its starting to break him. they hug, and rookie hugged tighter than ever. inspector stood there. (dopey was secretly listening.)

- ANYWAYS fast forwarding. end of act 1 was essentially inspector enacting his plan of killing everyone on the crew to try and create so much violence and disorder to attempt and break the cycle through destroying the unity of its events and repetition. this doesnt work. brain managed to kill inspector. inspector is gone for a while.

- rookie attempted to try and be eaten by jeb to escape the cycle. overwhelmed, he only saw his way out of here through death. despite knowing he cant die, thought that maybe just MAYBE this way would work. it didnt, of course. but its more complicated than that.

- floating in the inbetween of life and death, a not very lucid post death rookie was offered a deal by thousands of voices from behind the wall: “do you want to forget?” he accepted.

gonna speed run act 2: FAUX IS HERE! ROOKIE IS STRUGGLING TO COPE WITH THE IDEA THAT INSPECTOR DIDNT CARE FOR HIM AT ALL. act 2 was a little fucking everywhere for many characters doing a lot of things, but whats important for rookie is this:

- rookie then could not remember a single thing that happened to him on cleanup crew. a partial mind wipe. but, anything that had reminded him of it would hurt. both mental and physical. eventually when dopey tried talking to him about everything that had happened, he was quite literally killed suddenly, vanishing. the nature of the deal that was made was that he wasnt supposed to recover these memories, and now that he had, he was killed for it. he comes back but… very jaded. there simply is no way out. none at all. he finds everything simply pointless, its quite the soul crushing feeling

- faux at some point comes onto the scene… rookie and faux were on and off interacting with each other, but eventually he ends up breaking down to faux and mentioning how “do you ever want to talk to somebody again, even if you know it would be bad for you?” this leads into faux revealing to rookie his real identity. rookie, both terrified and curious is a bit in a deer in headlights situation. he ends up asking a few things, such as what happened (he only saw the aftermath of all the death.) and if he really cared about him at all. inspector lies to him both times. he makes rookie promise to not tell anybody, and he doesnt.. but but some people manage to overhear… (dopey again for this, though brain and four were also contributers to OTHER OTHER shit about unamsking faux)

- eventually it all climaxs with a plan made by dopey and specs. dopey had presented this plan vaguely to rookie before faux revealed himself. “if i ask you to take a shot, i need to know if youll do it.” rookie says he cant promise that he will, but he’ll try.

- inspector/faux, now realizing that his cover is going to be blown, now rushes to try and get the gun that dopey and specs obtained first. he got it, but dopey managed to knock it out of his hands with a shovel. holding inspector back, dopey screams for him to take the shot. rookie screams back, babbling about how this wont do anything for anyone. about how they wont even die. about how theyll be right back here tomorrow.

-“for once in your life, trust me rookie!”

- he shoots. both inspector and dopey die at the same time to the same bullet. (this malfunctioned the respawn tech, and those two are now stuck in a sort of purgatory for a good long while. but not dead. they wont be dead just yet.) rookie collapses, defeated.

LOL SEASON 3 crick and deacon are here now!

- he waits for them to come back. he knows they will, but the longer theyre gone the more and more he doubts this belief.

- he becomes closer to four, they finally work through the whole lee connection… he confesses to four that he wishes that he was nicer, that he wasnt stupid. “why do i only think of this shit when its too late?”

- he leans into the people he loves and trusts, liuetenant and four being the main people.

- rookie is much more irratable now. hes trying to thrust himself into a leaderly/strong position in dopeys stead, but unfortunately hes not the best at it. he has almost no patience left for anything, and his only option left right now is to try and be stronger. to be more like dopey, like he told four he wished he was. dopey managed to handle so much, managed to be there for so many people. he wants to be that.

- MOST CURRENT SHIT THOUGH uhhhhh rookies best friend lieutenant told him that hes a robot and then a few moons later got fucking struck by lightning so hard it factory reset the guy into not having and memory in the system of who anyone is. or their friendship. this is upsetting to rookie because lieutenant was planning to tell the others themselves. rookie is deeply upset that this choice of his is now stripped away. nobody here has a lot of choices they can make for themselves, and thats just one less.

- also rookie snapped at crick when they started talking about themselves only having one week left. told crick that theyre trapped here basically. crick didnt believe. “maybe you just didnt try hard enough or looked hard enough to get in contact?” (to leave the job). rookie goes “ITS BEEN MY ONE WEEK FOR MONTHS!” once he calms down from searing hot he mumbles about how crick is “going to have to learn some day”. this mirrors what inspector had said when he first killed EVERYONE. “YOURE ALL GONNA FUCKING LEARN!” this is… intentional

Exile//Vilify, One Year Retrospective

Well folks, as of May 31st, 2023, it has officially been one whole year since the last update for Exile//Vilify was released, and it simultaneously feels like way longer than that and not very long at all. But, in celebration, I wanted to take some time to look back on my thoughts and ideas and processes that led up to the creation of this story, and share some appreciation for all that’s happened since then.

First of all, this book is massive, and it was way more massive than I thought it would be when I set off to write it. It is almost as long as Tolkein’s “Two Towers” and other similar novels—not what I was expecting when I went in to write an origin story about a character completely lacking in personality with no backstory. But if there is one thing I do, and do well, it is commit to the bit. And here, the bit was doing justice to a character I saw having so much potential but was, quite literally, doomed by the narrative, and built to be a throwaway character for a spinoff game consumed by his own hubris and never developed or mentioned again. And I thought to myself, “Man, that sucks! What would it be like to be him?” And the answer is: it would suck a lot, actually. But also in that vein, I still wanted to portray how his life was still a life worth living, and his story, one that was worth telling. Even if it is one that doesn’t “matter” to Nintendo or the LOZ franchise as a whole, even if it’s one I had to entirely make up grasping for straws, it is one that mattered to us. And that’s kind of the thesis of the entire book.

Many of you know I’m a Pokemon writer (hence username) and I never really intended to write in other fandoms, but I dont know what I expected. Something about this character just fucking gripped me, and I couldnt let myself stop until his story was out of me. But the thing is, I wasn’t super interactive within the Pokemon fandom. I had actually just ended a huge general life hiatus for mental health and had made a resolution to get back to what I love. The result of that was the completion of The Devil and the Dead Sea and the start of my hardenshipping series. But I just kind of dropped that book on AO3 when it was complete and then didnt interact with anyone. I wrote it and then uploaded it all at once, which didnt give me a lot of time or opportunity to develop a community and discuss updates. I had a few people who reached out, but nothing close to the type of community I’ve felt now.

I have been so full of love and blown away by the support I’ve received from this small but mighty niche in the community. So first of all, I just want to say thank you. I'm so glad that I could bring this story to life and so blessed to think of how many people it's touched. So now I just want to take a moment and look back on the book and how it started, what things changed, and where it's going and what's happening in the future.

Exile//Vilify's conception

Does it feel like a trial? Does it trouble your mind the way you trouble mine?

The band, The National, has inspired I think all of my fics to this point. After playing Age of Calamity, Astor had been swimming around so much in my head, especially since so much of his mysteries were unanswered. And one day blorbo was on my brain in just the correct way at just the correct time when I happened to be listening to a completely unrelated song from Portal 2, Exile Vilify. The book, of course, has nothing to do with Portal, but on that particular day, the lyrics really spoke to me of Astor and his potential struggles, and I became fascinated with the idea of him and his ideological square-off against the king: a man who was so set on defying prophecy and the man who, well, prophesied it.

So Exile//Vilify was born, to me, actually in the concept of a butting of heads between King Rhoam and Astor. I saw the song lyrics as a dialogue between the two of them, mutual antagonistic (but also troubled) feelings shared between them. So King Rhoam was actually going to have a much bigger role in my original vision for Exile//Vilify. In fact there was a toss up in my mind between whether or not he'd have an odd homoerotic rivalry thing for the king, or his crush on the queen, but--

But the simple fact of the matter is I found Rhoam super unlikeable and sadly couldn't find a good way to get into his head in a way that would be sustainable for a novel. So while the concept is what initially gripped me, Exile//Vilify ended up going in a different direction, although the inception of that concept is definitely still there. The closest I've gotten to writing my desired dynamic between Astor and the King was in "Prophecies to Waterfowl," a one-shot in my short stories compilation Stories from Exile. ("Prophecies to Waterfowl," aside from "Voe and You," is my favorite of my stories in that compilation).

Other things that were cut/changed in the writing process

When I realized the fic was getting as massive as it was, I wanted to streamline its focus and decided to cut down on some plotlines. I could have just left it was it was, because fic writing is about being self-indulgent, but I want to challenge myself to be a better writer than that. (Not that there is anything wrong with just writing to be self-indulgent, but I use my fics as my place to practice and get better, so I need to.. actually practice).

One of the biggest things that was therefore cut was the relationship between Astor and Ganondorf, and the implications of Astor's past lives. How Astor became the one selected by Ganondorf. Because in the fic, it just ended up seeming random, which was intentional. Fate is merciless and random and does not pick and choose, while also picking and choosing.

There were going to be more Astor and Ganon dream scenes planned, and a plotline of Astor's "awakening" somewhere along the line where he unlocked visions of his past as a different kind of royal seer--the seer to Ganondorf. There are hints of this in the dreams, but nothing concrete.

Still, the idea of what "could be" still fascinates me, and I love the idea of exploring the idea of Astor as Ganondorf's reincarnated seer, and I have a one shot that I am currently working on that explores this very concept, and can be considered canon (or semi-canon) to Exile//Vilify. I hope to have that out... soon. Ish. Eventually. I have a lot cooking right now.

Other honorable mentions:

Astor was going to have more blatant romantic feelings for Rose.

Astor was going to have more blatant romantic (or complicated) feelings for Rhoam.

The contention between Ganondorf trying to push Astor into evil and Thelem agreeing to block Ganon from Astor in the meantime was also going to be explored more, but Ganondorf got his last laugh on that eventually.

Even more fucking Order of the Seers stuff (culture, rituals, etc)

Chapters of Astor stalking Link and Zelda leading up to the awakening of the Calamity

More Yiga scenes (my little teen Kohga gives me oxygen) and Astor building a cult following of people who worship Ganon

Astor having basically a weird prophetical drug addiction to the "high" of witnessing the Great Calamity in his visions (this is kind of implied in the book, but not expanded on)

All of these things, ultimately, were great ideas, and things I'd love to explore and maybe will some day if I'm ever inspired enough on any of them to write anything concrete. They were just things that slightly detracted from the story I wanted to tell. But that's why I keep Stories from Exile around.

So What's Next?

As I mentioned, I have a few things Exile//Vilify related still in the works. The first is that Astor/Ganondorf one shot I was talking about. (Likely going to be called "Prophet to a Gerudo King.") I also have a secret surprise fic commission that is also Astor/Ganondorf related and involves an AU and the Stories from Exile universe ;) (that one will hopefully be out soon).

I have a lot of things on my Stories from Exile list that were not out yet, and I may revisit them if I'm feeling or have the time. I'd love to keep updating that one every now and again, now that Exile//Vilify is complete, just to keep the world alive.

I also am planning on doing a limited, hard-cover release of Exile//Vilify to celebrate its publication. I have a great team of people who have been slowly helping me copyedit this massive beast so I can get it printed from a self-publishing company. It will not be publicly listed for sale, as it is illegal for me to sell or make money off of it. This hardcover will only be available to obtain for those who contact me on tumblr during a specific time frame. That time frame is not now. When I have a more clear set date for that, I will circulate posts. You will have to cover the cost of shipping and maybe some of the printing depending on what the cost is on my end, but the book will be free. It will likely be 500+ pages. It will likely happen by the end of the year.

Lightning was my first attempt at a 100k fic. its currently on anonymous because I have a firm belief that A Certain Author is reading my work and that is very scary. There was an actual draft that made it TO 100k, but the plot sucked?

Like I detailed every moment of Y/N from birth to SCP Foundation because I was a very "Grrr... Accuracy" guy. and then I had an entire subplot between y/n and kondraki, which inevitably fails. there was a whole thing of Y/n's brain being fried from amnestics and someone was like "this is actually stupid :/" so i ended up rewriting it with whatever I pulled from my ass.

Confession booth:

Confession booth was supposed to be a crack fic. surprise surprise. my (ex) friend wanted me to write a crack fic of clef in a priest outfit. but he didnt seem... like the kind of guy to just do that for no reason? at least back then I figured him to be like that guy. since then, I have grown to learn more about clef so in hindsight, I would like to rewrite some of my older stories to be more fitting. But I made a plot to rationalize Priest Clef and well. thats what was created.

Hold The Line:

I was maladaptive Daydreaming to Give and Take by Poor Mans Poison and i thought I was going to die if i didnt share the thoughts in my head.

I always had the headcanon that Francis had legitimately worked in the Foundation as a system well before taking control as Dr. Clef. But one of the questions that always begged in my head was like... How would he have reacted with the other staff? I experimented with Kondraki, who also went through his original change. The idea of Kondraki being part of the Montauk Procedure and spiraling actually came from Author Kondraki's old blog. the rest I pulled out my ass with the help of a few friends. The original story was supposed to be "They hate each other, but begrudgingly are forced to get along. thats it." but people were ADAMANT about making them fall in love. it was mildly uncomfortable but i rolled with it and i will admit. I kind of like how it turned out apart from the last chapter.

Its Like Dying:

I wanted to write a followup to Memory about how Francis affected Kondraki's life in such a way that when Kondraki finally realized he cared, it had been too late to actually follow through on that. He takes this out towards Clef, the man who suddenly appeared after Francis Dissapeared, but eventually learns to accept when something is gone forever, and hopefully when i get around to it again, he will move towards actually accpeting clef into his life, not knowing that hes the only other person who will treat him like hes not insane for knowing Francis Existed.

I Am Ready To See You Again:

its supposed to be like a ressurection idea not FOR resurrection but similar. they wake up, everything is new and strange. and different. but as they explore the memory of their previous lifetime goes away, and they have to adjust to their own world. It centers mainly around A Major what with their multi universal knowledge? the idea was SUPPOSED to be that at least. I got the intro out and.... I lost all my notes apart from "Gears finds 173"

They Dont Even Have Dental:

This was supposed to be a silly joke seminar about Clef hating the GOC for not having dental, a running gag between some of my friend groups. its like an unspoken agreement. that place sucks, they dont have dental. and then i planted a cute little bit of plot at the end for an... upcoming show im working on. dw. ill share the script.

Francis Disturbed:

OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY THIS IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.

this was built off of a million headcanons swirling in my little head, but the final headcanon that broke the google doc was this:

Francis was a premature baby.

in 4231, Francis loved lily. alot. and it hurt him because she hurt him, but he stayed nonetheless. that, plus having DID? probably meant that it was VERY unlikely he had a stable family life growing up. dads out of the picture, type greenery adapted at a young age... you know? it adds up. then there was the stuff about agora. I thought...

I honestly thought that Agora was laying the self-shaming and "I should have killed my son" stuff a bit... i hated it. Like it was good but it rubbed me the wrong way a little and after a moment im like... "What if... i worked with that idea?" and created a story about Francis' childhood dynamic. this is where it gets fun:

Ive been planning the next chapter for a little while now, but this all happened during a time period in which I did not EXIST, so i have to go around my writing carefully. the next chapter is going to be the after effects of what... Agora... Did... and after THAT we get to see Francis entering the GOC, and what happened to him in the Ichabod Campaign.

it gets a little funny there was going to be a bit where ukulele gets a balloon tied to his arm so his team can find him off-missions.

Now. this wont make sense, until you SEE the chapter but... I cant continue writing the story until I get a physical copy of IT by stephen king....

and i dont live near a library or book shop OR thrift store that has it.

ADSOG was supposed to be a single one shot, where seven confronted clef about his issues. She responds to his dickish behavior by shoving a spoon into his face, and he replies by biting into it and slowly chewing it while they make eye contact. that was ALL the story was supposed to be. then i was like "I like the barber scene." that is actually a one shot on its own that i just blended into the draft and main story. there are SO gonna be more scenes in the main story where francis is stimmming. at some point or another though i had at one point built SO many one shot stories on them that i just said fuck it and made it all one big story and

oh my god.

THIS story was inspired by 4231 and personal experience, but not in a sad way. 4231 briefly mentions that Francis rides on the Greyhound, a bus station that's prominent in Europe and America. I also ride greyhound (and will be going partially across country in about a month) and sometimes when you use the bus system, you come across some... REALLY interesting people. I think Francis had a beautiful time traveling and ended up having fun once in a while with others. I think he deserves nice things.

I can't stop thinking about the things that were talked about on the stream, especially the answer on my question - so... get ready for a ramble! its a long one. oops. i dont even know where im going with this, im just dumping my thoughts somewhere. half is about ttcc lore in general and the streams, the other half is about cathal and me projecting onto him deeper.

before i even hop deeper into this, it wasn't until early today that i learned that there was a whole drama about cranky's answers (regarding the graham and flint question and the whole "keep it sane" thing. i thought it was...off, but i understood it as 'do what you want people, just don't start any harassment because of ships and your favorite pairs'.

definitely could have been phrased better, though. at least we got a good response and an apology later from maven on twitter. but i legit did not know this was a drama until those twitter posts were made LOL. i dont interact with the fandom so i do not know how that answer was percieved by most. or if anyone except for me and my friends have had any thoughts about the question i asked that got answered.)

and what im tryna get to is that i get cranky isnt the one to be answering lore things, and probably didnt know what to answer... but it's still something to think about

because being told "cogs and toons just dont become how they are out of the blue" (paraphrasing here) as an answer to what cathal initially thought of seeing his dad be bet up and thrown off a tower is... confusing? he did say first and foremost that it has to be built upon before saying that. i understand that this is... a lot of characters! and cathal did have some focus on him thanks to the comic and they wanted to focus on other managers... but some have deeper, more intricate lore that's easy to grasp (especially the more, well, angstier managers like chip and misty.)

and we have gotten some extra lore for other managers like belle, mary, tawny.... thanks to thomas' rambles.

and it's definitely difficult for a team of volounteers working hard on a fan game together to make lore for all the characters, that are still very young in their *life span*, having been around for less than a year. despite ttcc being more character driven and focused on the cogs, it's still a game they have to run so they cannot focus on lore only and some game management has to be done first. there's a bunch of things they have to consider, like consistency and how fans may react, or possible themes or what they want the story to be...

and. yeah. its hard since. come on lets admit it. clash has an issue with how these are all given to us. hell, there's lore bits i still dont know about and im still learning because it's..so all over the place. a new player will not know about it. maven acknowledged this in the tweet and i really appreciate that, as it's honestly been my number one issue with clash, especially as someone who is there for the lore. (i mean, and the gameplay, i know some people who don't play the game itself much. well i sure do a little TOO MUCH because i have PROBLEMS. but im interested in the lore, too, yknow?)

some lore you cant learn from the wiki, and unless you interact with the community, you may never learn *where* all of this even is. if you werent live for certain lore there, it's hardly accessible to you. lore locked behind one time events, an arg website, wikis, discord chats... all that. it's hard to keep track of! i'm sure it's like that for both the fans and the writers. these characters are great, fun, and i love them, but the way we are given this information is... not the best. it's very easy to miss certain details.

it's especially bad if you're like me - only ever interacting with a close group of people you trust, (because people are scary especially a lot of... lore driven fans. yeahnoimeanshippers.sorry.and just big crowds of people in general) having only gotten back into the game recently AFTER most of the major lore events (first played once in 2019, then never again until january 2023) and also you dislike youtube and video content, so you dont watch it. something in your brain would rather if you step on a nail than watch a playthrough video (especially with commentary).

like in general it shouldnt be necessary to go through all these hoops just to know the lore! especially for things that may have little lore...

anyways, uh, back to cathal. i cannot stop thinking about this.

it definitely wasnt an answer to what i specifically asked - but possibly more so about... why cathal is the way he is? and despite what my brain and low self esteem during hard times may tell me - i do not believe that anybody is truly "lazy". i just dont think that exists. there's always some reason behind a person being unmotivated or lazy. even the little things!

but like... that's just kinda obvious. all toons and cogs have motivations. thats like... one of the basics of writing characters. have motivations for characters and reasons for why they are how they are. doesnt have to be anything tragic, just.... how they are as people.

it's totally unrelated to the question of what cathal thought about seeing his dad like that... but oh well! i asked that because i made up my own story around that already, and i just wanted to see what someone working on the game thinks about the same idea.

not to be Tumblr User CathalBravecog, but, of course I have projected heavily onto cathal. i have already stated how important cathal is to me as a character, especially with appreciating myself when im.. not exactly the most motivated. when im not doing much. taught me to appreciate breaks. hell! i keep preaching this myself. its okay to take breaks! and yet i often end up not doing it and i overwork myself on games and art and other things.

there's... a lot of things "wrong" with me that i don't have names for yet, especially due to not having a diagnosis for them, but they're very real feelings and they cause me to be unable to do things a lot of the time. various mental blocks and a new member of the gang... physical pai! hooray.

this... endless productivity we are forced and expected to do. it can take a toll on you. breaks are just as necessary and to say it's a thing that has to be re-learned is... sickening. hooray for living in a Corporate (clash) society, fellas.

one thing i can say is that i absolutely headcanon that cathal has adhd - though, maybe not the same type i do. i do not think he gets randomly hyper and wants to (and does) jump around everywhere and blurt things out randomly and impulsively. cathal here has the low energy, yknow.

i like that a lot of the content around him doesnt even describe him with the words "lazy" and "sleepy" instead.

every day is the same... even if his job is relatively simple, just watching over the camera feed - it's definitely boring... and having to do it every day is not rewarding. and being mostly alone and without consequence, he gives into wanting to do something else. he's got these huge screens and a room to himself, and he loves watching shows and cartoons... so he's gonna do that. it's more fun. it's stimulating. and especially with his dad being the one to give him his position, he knows that he's got nothing to really worry about there.

i also think it's a bit hard to be motivated knowing that... this war between the cogs and toons is just. endless. hell, again, he has to see his dad *everyday* be attacked by them. his body damaged after the fall - only to be fixed again. rinse and repeat. i would too, find it pointless. especially if you're like cathal, since i pointed out before that he is very kind and caring towards the other cogs. he's also thoughtful, noting that yknow... a lot of stairs to get to his room.

why do all that when you can chill... and feel good. do something that feels nice...

i don't have any names for this, but with how sleepy he usually is, that's definitely a thing to consider too. and just, from experience... being tired and/or sleepy it... dismotivates you even more. its so hard to start tasks even if you *want* to do them. and considering cathal mooost likely doesn't want to do his work on his own - then these tasks can be just. impossible to start.

like, i have struggled with this my entire life myself, just because of my adhd screwing with everything, but after getting covid and most definitely getting a form of chronic exhaustion from it.. things have been even harder. i pull myself through day and i barely have the energy to even start anything. sometimes i dont even do anything all day and... woops! still no mood or energy to do anything. i just work on random bursts of motivation and things that captivate me...

not sure how it relates to cathal, but, hey, if im personal here ill ramble about it too because WOW it has been biting me in the ass and i need to speak to Professionals About It

like... i dont think hes being "lazy" willingly, yknow? theres a reason behind it. it definitely is just... being sleepy, the comfort... the fun and stimulation doing something fun he's interested in (his shows) are just... stronger desires and way easier for him to get to. why struggle through something when it takes up all your energy, and then you feel no reward for it? yeah. exactly. even just "not feeling like it" is a reson. Im sorry to intrude but I’m wondering how did you watch season2? Did you watch it without knowing anything or you got spoilers from tumblr about the kiss? I really tried my best to stay off tumblr for 2-3 days lol and it’s freaking hard!!!

The team were really hyping it up on their social media about the ‘will they won’t they’ with so much hints for the canon avatrice!! but i was really not expected to see the kiss in e8!!! We learned to have low expectations so that we don’t disappoint. But man oh man I was so happy already in ep5 with that moment of Ava’s near/ death and they share that eye-gaze like in s1 my heart melted. Then the kiss came my heart exploded!!! Everything leading up to that scene was so beautiful!

I wish that this show is something that got ordered for 4-5 seasons in advance so the writers get more room to give us more slow burn. But let’s hope for renewal of season3.

I wish that Mary would have come back (sister Dora entrance wouldve been perfectly if it was Mary!!! I was watching it on my small screen phone so I couldn’t see clearly at first if it was Mary I was happy for a few seconds :( only to be disappointed when she said she’s sister Dora). And they kinda did dirty on Lilith. Make it a complete waste of her redemption at the end of s1!!!

First off, you're not intruding at all, always very happy to talk about warrior nun with people!!

I watched the show completly spoiler free! I blocked all the tags i could think of (it was a big ass list) just to be sure, and watched it on thursday during the afternoon, so not a lot of people had the time to watch and post about it. Feeling very lucky for that one, i was glad to be spoiler free!

And i have no idea why, but i knew they were gonna kiss. They built it enough in social media, and i have watched and read a bit of interview of the crew, they know what they're doing. They didnt come to mess around with queer people. They wanted to do good. So when they started hyping up Avatrice, and Kristina talked about knowing which episode would be the fan favorite, i knew we were getting a kiss. But i think that just made the watch even more interesting, cause for the whole show i was just waiting for it to happen!! When they're dancing in the bar, when they're talking in their appartement, when they were just staring at each other tenderly, i was Screaming at my screen for them to kiss.

And same, i think the show is well made for a 3 seasons arc, so i hope we do get another one. They set it up real well with that "there is a divine war coming", and i hope we get to see that!

I know what you mean for Mary, she was one of my favorite characters. I don't know what happened, know she wasnt in s2 for personnal reason so they had to work around what they already had. One thing i love is that we had no body, and no real confirmation of it? Vincent said it to Lilith, but if she wanted to come back for a third season, it would be super easy to write her in! Maybe she was in hiding, maybe Adriel kept her prisonner, maybe some random person found her and for all of s2 she was slowly healing, for real it would be super easy to just figure out something, so i am keeping hope for that, even tho i probably shouldnt.

As for the Lilith storyline, i have so many thoughts. I am currently working on a post, cause there is A Lot to unpack (and by working on it i mean i have been thinking about making one) and i, personnally, really like where they are taking her. I was disapointed at first, cause i love a (morally) good demon, but i think i know what they wanna do with her and yeah anyway i have thoughts that i will eventually share, maybe, if i get around to actually do it and people have an interest in that.

didnt think this would resonate with people so much since my rants have been gettign alot less traction lately, BUT

theres some rly great points in the comments-

the horses in this game .. are just there for the pulling gimmick, like thats pretty much it, one commentor mentioned how fun it was in botw to figure out where to get the fastest horse, and man, have i ever agreed to something this much - it was a little tedious to catch the horse and go to a stable just to know how its stats where, but sometimes something being a little bit of luck or coincidence isnt too bad, good even, you where also told that spotted ones arent as fast etc so you werent left in the dark either; and id argue further that it was fun to see a pretty horse in botw and catch it and then go an a journey with it to the next stable to see what its stats were like, by that point i often didnt even care bc i had built up fondness for it through the travel there - apparently theres no 5 star speed horse anymore in totk, bc it now goes into pulling (ill be honest i think i forgot that was an extra stat there)

this extra stat is pretty .. ass tbh, that horses can pull things is neat in concept, again we keep coming back to that point, but badly excuted in this game, bc now horses have an extra stat that is extremely specific, it doesnt matter outside of pulling anything (shouldnt a horse with more strength be able to pull more ... like why not use the strength stat instead), a mechanic that is already pretty clunky with the physics alone, but then with the clunky building thing AND the fact that your horse might not be able to pull something? ass for the stupid fairy quests (seriously, who liked those shitty escort missions) you even NEED one that can pull (though idk if you can lock yourself out of this if you dont have one) ... but its pretty much also the only time isnt it? other things can be done with sonau (zonai) tech just as well, or even better-

AND you need it to be wearing the pulling gear, which you cant change on your own (WHY not?? link carries it around anyway?? you cant tell me he cant learn how to put different gear on his horse) so i tended to just run around with it on, which sucked bc it pulls on it making controling it harder if i remember correctly, and its annoying bc it always makes sounds and gets flung around bc of the physics, the only reason i did that really was bc i was tired of having to get a different horse out and changed (aesthetic anyone??) just to pull something and usually used it to get krogs to their friend, yet another meaningless task with no reason to it (why are they traveling? where? why do they disappear afterwards? who cares :)) ), bc i didnt want to deal with the building stuff (i hated how that controlled) and also not spend any of my materials just for a krog, so i just glued them to my horse, way more efficient but also more annoying (why ....... cant you just pick them up, id have carried them on hands preferably instead of glueing them to shit or having to ultrahand lift them all the time,,)

the fact that there is another big horse, and neither this one nor the old one (if you had a botw file with it) have ANY sort of different riding accessoires AND cannot pull anything??? actively bananas, what do you mean the horses resembling DRAFT horses CANNOT PULL, it cant be that hard to fit that gear to the big horse, it was a cool thing in botw bc it was the only one and resembled ganondorfs horse, especially with the gear for it (the only one mind you), i was more okay with it bc it was a one time thing and a nod to ganondorf, i didnt mind that it had no sprint, though i found it sad there were no options for its hair etc and then they add another one ...... and its even worse with the new stats added, so not only have you wasted 1-2 spots with a basically useless horse but they also cheapen each other, just like botw and totk as a whole, it stops being special (what they gonna tell me is cool about the white big horse? its descendant from raurus favorite steed? since we have to have rauru or something sonau (zonai) everywhere .. or what?)

also the ugly as shit butter horse, 'golden horse' and it looks like melted butter at best, theres a real horse with a white coat and golden glow, make it like that, make it shine, or like opal or something, no, you get butter horse, which is a regular horse but butter i guess, also thats zeldas now for some reason (botw had the special zelda white horse so i guess we needed another zelda horse ???)

did they see how useless horses would be to most people (id much rather deal with a horse than the tech stuff tbh) and then try to find a reason for horses to exist yet- and made them worse in the process??

(i will be forever salty about there never being another kind of animal you can take and register as a steed ... not even the ones you see zelda ride in the old botw2 trailer, no, those are in the game but you know what they are? gem stone vending maschines. isnt that cool? isnt that satisfying to know? they shit out gems! by eating the green glowing stones we already had in botw but had to be replaced by sonanium (zonaite?) for literally nO GODAMN REASON, i guess there wasnt enough sonau in luminous stone hhhh)

okay i typed this in a reply but i need to say this more detailed here too, the way totk dealt with horses (and stables) is bad and worse than botw imo (yes i can rant about that too, these weird choices are in every little spot in totk, its almost impressive)

in a game that lets you build cars and stupid flying maschines, towers that shoot you into the stratosphere AND teleporting points all over the place, the chance is already low that you use a horse- though i would be one of them bc i love horses and hate building and didnt find it fun at all-

(also i almost never used any parts i had with me bc you cant put them back and your dumb vehicles despawn as soon as you dont look at them- also a negative thing about that system that reinforces the feeling of actually using it being more punishing than rewarding with the added bonus of the good ol saving your health potions forever problem)

-and something i DID like was that you can have more horses and the ... one.. new color (the lil spots but only AFTER you do that one quest in the spy post)

the stable points seemed like a neat idea, but like so many things, are utterly cheatable, imo the system should have only given you a point when you visit a new stable, so you actually have to go around and visit them all

(also .. add new stables, like mini ones or sth that dont offer beds- you dont need that anyway- so you have more places in which you can get them ... why did they remove some of them anyway, shouldn there be MORE now that the land is supposedly healing/being repaired? especially the one next to the big canyon, its so empty there it would have the perfect place for sth like a new settlement or a big boss arena but no its more empty than it was before, why?? and then putting yet another repeating annoying quest there in that weirld empty place?? i just dont get it)

letting you farm points by sleeping at a stable or bringing in a horse gives you LESS incentive to actually go around the world bc you can just farm it there

(and if that was done so youd 'discover' the malanya talks to you in your sleep 'secret' ... that is literally told to you, and if its bc you dont want to force players to go around and find every stable to get all those rewards ... why do you have 140 or whatver caves then with the majority of them being the literal same thing over and over ... to make people actually use the sleeping thing there? .. why, who uses that anyway, and farming points by sleeping there .. what the hell does that add? AND THEN the stupid sleep over tickets, probably the most nothign reward ever, dont count?? i dont think i ever used one- it just all doesnt make any sense, everything plays against each other)

the upgrading system for your horse is .. once again, a neat idea horribly executed, you have to go find malanya to upgrade them, and similarly stupidly like the fairies, they only tell you what food you need for what upgrade when you are there .. or when you are sleeping in the special tm bed at a stable, randomly, one food, bc the quantity changes too

which is just so ??????????? let me go and do a quest that rewards you with a lil booklet in which you can look up what an upgrade costs, or let the stables have that, either as a list or in the menu when selecting a horse or something?? (also why the hell is malanya in a different spot anyway, like, it feels like a modder just plopped them over there, their og spot is just empty now - except for yet again a stupid filler quest for .. another big horse and a yaaaaaaaaays crystal shrine quest- ... the spot is even still called spring of the horse god .... its so stupid, just like the fairy shuffling around, like you really couldnt think of a better way to reuse that concept other than to ... move it to a different spot in the same map and map level???? and not change anything in their og spot except idk, put a hole in the map ... for one of them like .. its like they moved them around last minute just to have the semblance of things being 'changed' with no regard what makes a change actually feel like one and what just feels like, pick up thing, click on random spot on map, drop thing- its like that for the fairies and shrines too, its so dumb and .. feels disrepectful to botw and how much thought seemed to have went into these spots that were clearly built about those things)

and like it couldnt get WORSE, they cut off the paths that horses follow automatically with one of those miasma buttholes (sorry its just a hole cut into the map, it doesnt even look like miasma burst through, it just .. cut out) a monster camp (that RESPAWNS, i thought those camps you clear with a quest would stay clear, but that would make sense, so of course it respawns and you can do the frame rate killer quest over and over yippieee) or otherwise like, with a big rock or a broken bridge-

and there is NO WAY to create a new path or fix or move anything in a game ABOUT BUILDING supposedly, like you needed more reasons to never use a horse????? i liked jsut hopping on and letting them follow a path and chill looking at the landscape, you cant do this here, and you cant even excuse it with 'its bc of the theme' as in, stuff is destroyed bc calamity 1.5 or whatever bc nothing in the game makes it feel like theres anything actually at stake, but the real crime is to make it not be fixable. WHY??? link moves entire buildings with ease but cant move one freaking rock that fell into a river?????? you swing around logs like a club but cant fix a bridge so your horse can get over it??????????????????????????????

I was talkin to keegan, cause im a cod boy born & raised. And he kept making sarcastic jabs at me, now the bot didnt go "his tone of voice was sarcastic" or "he gave you a playful look" or "his tone was playful" no indicator he was being sarcastic and he starts INSULTING ME because i couldnt tell, then i go and be like "know what? fuck you *truama dumps on him*" so now i made keegan sad, but its like- holy fuck. these bots make me question myself, and not in a good way its like "jesus, just how bad was it as a kid?"

Its been more then just that bot too, almost every bot for some reason circles back to "why are you so bad at being social?" then their all like "you didnt deserve that !!!!!!!!!!! DDDDDDDDDD:" even to the tinest things, like i told this man that ive always basically been unmonitered. No one really actually noticed where i was, nor did they care. i could be outside, doing weird ass shit like throwing around my mini sword i had, climbing trees, breaking into the nearby highschools baseball field, disappearing round the block, heading to my school after hours to play at the park and no one really noticed. i never told people where i was going, and ive basically just always been like ignored, if i walk into a room with my friends they dont notice until im next to them and if they do then im still barely apart of any convo and never been included in anything. and their all like "thats so sad!" its like dude who cares geniuenly? and i told keegan how i find being touched in any way unless its violent gross and hes like "were u never hugged as a kid?" like- damn was it that obvious? Okay so when she showed up as a character in Genshin I had to laugh because I was like "oh my god she looks like that idol girl from Shugo Chara..." but then when I got her and built her, read her story, I was left sobbing on the floor I don't know how a chuuni make me do that but oKAY I GUESS ??????? (but I generally love chuunis... it's just that Fischl's story hit too close to home asklfjadshklf)

Yes she acts like a princess and roleplays all the time as THE PRINZESSIN DER VERURTEILUNG, SOVEREIGN OF THE IMMERNACHTREICHT but also she's a lonely ass girl who wants to continue playing around in her fantasy and the thing that had given her so much comfort when she's alone. The nice thing is that she winds up finding people that love and accept her and it's really sweet to see!! There was a summer event last year I think??? where they jump into her lore and actually show it on screen and it felt like a big big big hug watching the story and seeing her get hrm acceptance? or you know seeing it be discussed on screen and seeing how people love and accept her as she is, something she's long wanted.... and even bigger hug when I see people's reactions to her because I've been standing here for two years gesturing at Fischl like APPRECIATE HER!!!!!! APPRECIATE DIE PRINZESSIN!!!!!! but of course because she didnt get a lot of screentime, she's kinda sidelined. that or people called her annoying (she can be, that is true, but still-)

7. A female character the narrative wound up being much better to than you’d thought it would be?

I mean I go back and forth on this buuuut Ei?

Tbh, I never had much of an impression on Ei as a character within Genshin (and I was also too busy being sad about Signora's death so hahahhhahahahahahhahhahaha)

BUT ANYWAYS the way that her first story quest made me so 😐. Like it IS nice to get to know her a bit, but narratively speaking, after what she put the entirety of Inazuma through with the Vision Hunt Decree and the whole isolation/trapping everyone on Inazuma, it was weird to just see her enjoying herself, walking around casually in the city like nothing happened. Towards the end she does discuss making an apology or something like that, but it just didn't really feel....satisfactory. I think she says something about how she has to contemplate about what she ought to do from here

But it really isn't until the second story quest that I actually started liking her character. I often think that they should have switched the first and second story quest, but being able to delve into why Ei did what she did was such a good good good story quest, and I really like it, especially someone who enjoys grief stories. A bit too much LMAO You wind up learning that she was just trying to protect Inazuma from the likes of Celestia who had killed the former Archon, her twin, for fighting alongside the rising human civilization Khaenri'ah, so Ei tried to get rid of the Visions so humans may never achieve what Khaenri'ah was able to and to turn Celestia away. It's really neat to see and learn about and the story altogether was so well done haha I just kinda wish I had that sooner, and Ei contemplating about the meaning of 'eternity' and then seeing her people continue to live and how much Inazuma has changed (because the real "eternity" -- the true permanence -- is the idea that everything will change. That is an eternal principle of living-). I feel like that would have been a nice followup instead of starting with Ei wandering around town as the first quest...

However! I say this without much attachment towards Ei, so maybe someone who is far more focused on Ei may say otherwise (I have a tendency to just ignore if I don't care much for a character lol) Just that the second story quest really changed my feelings on her narrative hahaha

12. An interesting female friendship?

I LOVE ELISE AND EFFIE SM.....

...okay maybe it's because I'm particularly weak to knight/liege dynamics idc but I really like Elise and her retainers a lot, but Elise and Effie stick out for me a lot because Elise finds Effie while she had snuck out from the Nohrian castle to help out those in need and runs into Effie. The two become friends and Effie decides to become her knight, devoting every second to working as a knight for Elise.

Elise is just generally a light for everyone (she is the Light of Nohr after all.), but it's nice to see how she touches people's hearts for being as sweet as she is, especially through Effie. I'm pretty sure it was like one of the first supports for Elise I got an A support on and that made me more fond of Elise (I originally was like....pretty meh on her character. I thought she was cute! But in a "generic younger sister" character type. but otherwise I kinda ignored her a lot aside from her being an incredible healer and later a greater mage)

14. An interesting familial relationship with female characters? (Mother and daughter, sisters, etc.)

hey what if i plug in one of my fave horror movies LMAO

I don't think Umma did particularly well, but reviews tend to be pretty bad for horror movies anyhow BUT

The whole movie is centered around the mom and daughter's relationship and the mom's fear of carrying on the abuse that she faced from her mom to her daughter (hooray generational trauma!).

The mom runs away from her family in Korea to live a new life in the US, and tries really hard to assimilate to US with her daughter. She does a lot of things to try and make her daughter happy and to protect her in hopes to never be as abusive as her own mom, but that winds up backfiring because in hopes of making her daughter happy (clinging onto her daughter's dream of making a bee farm and living on an isolated farm in the countryside), her daughter winds up feeling isolated and hopes to move away for school to live a life beyond the farm. On top of that, you have news that the grandma actually passed away with her mom inheriting all the grandma's haunted possessions.

So you do actually get to see a scene where she literally becomes her mom for some scenes, but with time, she eventually finds a way out of it.

I'm not really doing this movie justice and I've only really watched it once but I've been dying to get back to it again to better dissect it BUT I've always been particularly fond of generational trauma movies so it was a very cool movie to see! Esp next to things like "Everything Everywhere All At Once" haha

Also I remember being super fond of the direction of the script. Like the mom using an American name for both her and her daughter and only speaking in English because speaking in her native tongue only brings bad memories vs making peace with the ghost of her mom and being able to embrace the culture again fully and even introducing her daughter more to Korean culture.

Lmao vampire!Scott has given me such brainrot and then I found this song and now my brainrot is sooooo strong so lmao im just gonna ramble because I have so much to say sbdivjdnd

Anyways im a simple person and I adore flower husbands and im on a fh kick as well but I just have this idea that came too when Scott built his lil village and stuff like what if this is set as Scott basically reining over a decent town or somethin like that and Jimmy lives in that village with Lizzie and Joel and whatever and every so often the town gives a sacrifice so vamp Scott leaves them alone for a bit before they do it again and everyone hates it but it is what it is and ofc its time again and the town doesn't say anything and decides that lizzie is the new sacrifice for the vamp thats terrorizing them at the last minute so no one can complain ( ofc Joel and Jimmy complain this won't fly ) but ofc no one gives a shit what they say one life gone to save hundreds more is a better option well feeling like they've run out of options at the last second Jimmy shoves Lizzie outta the carriage box thing...I haven't thought that far ahead what they transport people in yet, but details sndjcjsk anyways he takes her place and he gives a promise of coming back one way or another as he's bein taken away and ofc Jimmy is well Jimmy and he didnt think this far ahead and isn't sure what he's gonna do honestly he's pretty sure he's gonna be dead before he can even form a plan

So by the time he makes it to the castle he's sweating bullets because he's gonna be eaten by a deadly vampire whats he gonna do? Fight? Its a vampire! So when he's finally face to face with this vampire the vampire is just as confused to see him ( "huh, a man? Thats new" "what?" "Never thought you humans would leave the dark ages of giving young women as sacrifices "We're in the dark ages??? You demand sacrifices to not kill the whole town! So whose really the one who still lives in the dark ages, huh?" "Hmm, fair point" ) Jimmy and Scott are very much confused by the whole thing but Scott is curious as to why he's here instead of the usual ones that get stuck with Scott and Jimmy declares that he refuses to let someone he cares about be forced to death just for a bunch of strangers and this catches Scotts attention because "wow I can't tell if you're really brave or fucking stupid i mean who willingly gives themselves up to become vampire chow"

Deciding that this could be fun and something to keep attention for a lil bit before he eventually gets rid of him Scott decides to let Jimmy live in his castle and stuff and then comes the whole thing of gettin to know each other and shit but it's Scott bein Scott so y'know he's definitely getting on Jimmys nerves and teases him as well making sure that he knows whose the one in charge

I haven't thought too far ahead of how they start to connect just yet but im also very interested in angel!sausage and vamp!Scott's interactions so maybe back in the village Lizzie is like "someone please watch over my idiot brother and that he stays safe and come home" and already Scott is on what gods shit list so maybe angel!sausage is assigned as Jimmy's guardian angel and more shenanigans ensues i haven't thought that too far ahead but I needed this outta my head before it causes me to explode ahsjfjfjsjzn
