Simon didn’t often go out drinking. Normally they preferred nights in with Peonie and Su, but tonight they had decided for a bit of change. Now that Eclipse had new management it had gotten like, loads more fun. 

“Susan,” They were loudly telling one of the patrons at the bar up front, a proud and goofy smile plastered across their face, “is the absolute best baby in all of Britain and I can prove it! She’s babbling already and she’s not even 9 months! And she can sit up! The very best baby! Do you want to see pictures? I have pictures!”

Patrick hadn’t even planned on being at the bank today. He’d just sort of... stopped by. God his timing could use some serious goddamn work. He was just trying to get money in a form that Lena could actually use. All he’d wanted was to be a goddamn dad. 

Now his left arm was trapped under a goddamn boulder and he’d already lost consciousness twice. By the time he swam back to alertness he could see someone walking towards him. 

“Hey!” he called, trying to get the other person’s attention, “Hey, I need help!”

Walden didn’t really have much appreciation for the concept of a legitimate full-time job. Working as the executioner for the Ministry wasn’t exactly what anyone would call a consistent gig. He worked when they wanted him and basically got to swan around for the rest of the day. Which really meant that he had the rest of his time to annoy his friends and loved ones.

“Malcolm!” He called as he strolled through Gringotts without a fucking care about the way several of the goblins glared and grumbled. They all knew him by now, what else did they expect? “I’m hungry! Take me to lunch!”

Walden shrugged. “Elf magic, probably.” He didn’t know the full extent of what house elves could or couldn’t do. Kermit was the only one that didn’t kind of creep him out, honestly. “That’s exactly what I said. The hair and the cheekbones. Model shit. You’re not fucking going anywhere until they tell you because I wasn’t fucking around about killing you if you scare the shit out of me again.” Walden threatened. “I can sneak Cat in though. I’ll make Olivia tag team with me. She’s great at distractions.”

How many babies are due in '81? It's a lot, right? And all of them are definitely going to be cuter than Daphne Greengrass.

We all know that Diana has the eyes of a bunny and Malcolm has the smile of a Cheshire cat, but I don’t think that child will have any other great attributes so the sea is wide for other cuter babies and we have quite the number. 

First, there’s the whole Finnegan shenanigan. Hilda and Patrick Finnegan were once deeply in love and rumors have it she left Patrick for American painter, Caleb Goldstein, but between her love affairs, she got pregnant. My money is on it being Patrick’s but who knows? We can all be surprised in March when it is Caleb’s. The little rascal will draw a media frenzy on St. Patrick’s Day apparently. 

There’s also the little child from Pandora and Alaric Kane. They’ve had quite the year and are incredibly cute to the point it makes me nauseous and now they have a child on the way, due in the middle of Spring.

We are also looking forward to Juniper Dunbar and Sirius Black’s child. Their whole relationship has been a complete surprise and I can’t even remember when Juniper had morning sickness but that child should also be due in the spring. 

I know it’s hard to believe but the Weasley’s are having a seventh child. Is it Molly Weasley batting her eyes at Arthur Weasley for another child or is it the other way around? How many kids do you have to have before getting a vasectomy? Maybe that’ll be the next father’s day gift to Arthur. There’s six out of six boys and Molly is telling everyone she’s pregnant because she wants a baby girl. I hope she’s right because eight doesn’t sound like a good number.

There’s also Lily Potter who has been spotted in public throwing up on people’s shoes following morning sickness symptoms. I hope James Potter is rubbing her back and doing whatever he needs to make this easier for her. Perhaps advising her to stay on the couch and not go outside. 

That’s all I know so either everyone tapped out at the end of the year and no one else is pregnant or my sources aren’t doing a good enough job of snooping out who else will be sporting a bump in the fall season. So if you’re counting, that’s five on my end. If we get word of twins or more additions I’ll inform you.

The Greengrass Estate

She’d heard about the nose. Had gathered up her robes immediately and apparated to the Greengrass estate. She avoided it most days, it reminded her too much of a bygone childhood - and of her mother Alice Greengrass who always smelled of bergamot and peony. Theodora made the exception every now and then for Malcolm, and today was one such occasion. 

She was shown in by the house elf Gonzo, who at this point was certainly as old as time, and offered a seat in the sitting room, though she didn’t take it. Instead, Theodora paced and ignored the way she was tempted to reminisce about how she would run through these halls in her youth. There was a portrait on the wall and the oil paint glistened like lacquered wood in the light. With it’s size and placement it was near impossible to miss and Theodora’s gaze traveled up to it. It was so fucking pretentious, but it spoke of everything she was supposedly fighting for when she donned her Death Eater mask. Of heritage and purity and power. There was a similar painting in the Rowle household, one that had become obsolete over the years because of the mounting body count the family seemed to face.

She spoke to Malcolm, when he appeared in the doorway, throwing a glance to him and then letting her eyes turning back to the painting. Her words were stiff, serious. (Man, she needed a cigarette.)

“A little birdie told me you got into a fight.”

She didn’t think she had to specify the bit about the nose. She thought that part was quite obvious. 

“What happened?”

Malcolm Greengrass wasn’t normally Kingsley’s cup of tea. A little too haughty, a little too full of himself, a little too into his own blood status. But he was also Anson’s best friend, and Kingsley was undeniably and irrevocably fond of Anson. He could make nice. He could.

“Really, is this everyone’s first ceilidh?” He asked, amusement bubbling up in his voice. “You’re all worse than me at my own bar mitvzah. It’s really no harder than waltzing is.” As if Kingsley has ever successfully managed a waltz.

There was nothing more Malcolm enjoyed than going to a public event-except his wife, he loved his wife. The night was playing in his favor with people offering congratulations on Diana being pregnant and a promise of a future family shortly after a marriage as well as Malcolm making small talk with business dealers. Malcolm didn’t know if a museum was the best place to host an event like this, but it seemed fitting. There was music and dancing of which Malcolm only watched with a raised brow at the…interesting dancing. There was a lot to look at from the plaques to the people in general. 

Malcolm held a drink in his hand confidently while he read the words on a nearby plaque about the early stages of potions including a love potion that when first was vastly too strong which led to various issues. Before he could finish, Malcolm heard noises from where the dancing was occurring which really interfered with his concentration. “Do you really call that dancing or should I blame your coordination on your enormous hippogriff feet-,” Malcolm asked with curiosity, before his lips curled into an apologetic smile. “No worries. I only mean the dancing is quite…eccentric tonight.”

Alecto had spent the last several hours working, and also panicking. Those were her usual modes, though, so none of the anxiety was apparent on the outside. By the time the knock on her door came she was fairly sure she’d settled into a calm facade, expression barely twitching as she swung open the door wearing nothing but one of her long plum dressing gowns, embroidered with deep green and gold flowers, and lace stilettos. Well, there was some lacey frippery beneath it passing for lingerie, but she wasn’t planning on flashing the whole street. 

“Malcolm,” she grinned, tapping her nails against the doorway. God, but Malcolm Greengrass was pretty. No, stop, don’t think about how pretty he is you’ll make yourself panic again. “Come in. There are drinks in the kitchen.”

breaking banking habits

Since she was, apparently, staying in Britain for the foreseeable future, Laure needed money. All of her currency ran in francs and Bezants, and none of the shops here accepted those. Plus, she had to set up access to the family vault back in France. 

Goblins were stubborn and proud, but so was she, and so working with them just felt like an echo of herself on a homework assignment. History of Magic had always fascinated her-- all the books tended to include portraits of the most important places and buildings. If architecture didn’t sing to her soul, perhaps she would have been a Goblin Liaison. 

She had just sorted out the francs situation and was moving on to Bezants when she heard someone yelling in the background.

“You are being insufferably mental right now. How dare you talk to me like that! Is something wrong with you beyond your idiotic idea of a bond?”

Laure whirled around, hackles up. She had no patience for people who couldn’t respect other sentient species. “That ‘insufferably mental’ creature could light you on fire with a snap of its fingers, you imbecile.”

This was a day that Malcolm had been looking forward to and not for himself, but for Walden. There was never quite a happiness that could match what someone felt on their wedding day. The love and endearment that everyone else only basked in for the duration was important. Malcolm had felt it himself and recognized the same glee on Walden’s face as the reception commenced. 

“Of course, now, where else would I be?” Malcolm replied with a quick smile, patting his friend on his shoulder. “I’ll be by your side the whole night until the Mrs. wants you. How do you feel?”

“Thank you, Mal. I mean that.” Walden was so punch-drunk on the giddy excitement of it all he could’ve kissed Malcolm for that sentiment alone. Hell, the only thing that stopped him from doing so was the knowledge that Diana likely wouldn’t appreciate it. He glanced down at the ring on his finger again, awestruck. 

“Like I got away with something, somehow.” He admitted. “D’you know, part of me kept expecting someone to show up and call the whole thing off because of that damn large party ban.” Or at least he had until Daisy had shown up and all other thoughts had left his mind completely.
