so okay this sheriff danny character is one of my favorite characters i've ever written and i'm SO happy and proud that you liked him (or hated him, or liked to hate him 😝). for some reason in writing and reading i am inevitably drawn to a male character that loves a girl who would do anything for him, but he doesn't love her enough to stay. like there's something in him that can't stand to be tied down. he loves her in his own way, on his own timeline, and he wants to please her and be there for her but there's something he can't help inside himself. the "rambling man" trope, i guess, and it's sick because of course men who behave like than in real life are garbage, and they ought to change and be less garbage, but in fiction they are SO fun to play with. i had a ton of fun writing sheriff danny, and i'm very glad you liked how cocky and southern and loveable and infuriating and horrible he is <33

all of my favorite grateful dead songs are on this playlist right here (there's a few songs on there that jerry garcia did by himself and those are also good) and i have a couple must-listens. for that classic, upbeat, summery sound i would go with scarlet begonias, bertha, sugar magnolia, and franklin's tower. althea, unbroken chain, and black muddy river have a more mellow sound, and are more..... shall we say.... poetic in their lyrics, but i really like them.
