On hair and anti-black transmasculinity

I wanted to share a journal entry I wrote a few days ago, just to see if someone could identify with it. Or if I'm sending it into the ether, that's cool too.

I've been thinking about gender today. I always feel so dysphoric whenever I take my hair down. Its so strange because my hair is the most feminine things about me. Its like I carry all of my feminine energy in my hair. Which makes sense concerning hair in Black American culture. But sometimes, I think its wrong to think of myself in that way because I'm transmasculine; almost like I'm betraying myself? I'm sure its internalized enbyphobia (?) (I'm not too sure how I feel about that either), as I'm still examining my relationship with Black womanhood, but also, I can't help but think of it as misogynior as well.

Like, my rejection of my natural fro is in part becasue I still outwardly present as a Black woman. And with that, I know that any masculinity attached to me will signal to people, black and non-black alike, that it is acceptable to treat me as an "ungendered woman-thing," as opposed to an ungendered Black woman.

Interestingly, if I imagine a hypothetical version of myself where I have an outwardly masculine appearance, but a feminine hairstyle (think butterfly locs), I feel an overwhelming sense of euphoria. Contrasting again with where I was yesterday, a feminine appearance with the hair to match left me underwhelmed. Not dysphoric nor euphoric. Partially because I'm used to that version of myself but also, there's a weird kind of pride I feel in being Black and hyperfeminine even when not fully identifying as a woman. By defying the misogynioristic notion that Black women cannot achieve femininity, or womanhood, I feel that I have triumphed over something.

And once more, when I hypothesize myself with an entirely masculine presentation, I feel apprehension, maybe wariness, as is expected of people who are Black and masculine in a white supremacist society.

If I were to make sense of all of these hypotheticals, they're all thought exercises on Black transmasculinity as it relates to Black humanity.

I know that whatever my appearance is, no matter how euphoric or dysphoric, my humanity will always be called into question. No matter the presentation of masculinity nor femininity, in any combination or expression on a Black body, there is not "safe" presentation. Thus is intersectionality. I cannot experience the trauma of gender identity or expression without the trauma of antiblack racism. The ungendering, the degendering of Blackness is intertwined with the ungendering and degendering of my transmasculinity.

Anyways, just some thoughts while I develop my theory of transwomanism.

Alfred has a nice voice that reminds me of Héger Tibor who is my favourite Alfred so thats great 10/9 only because I prefer the edge the hungarian version has to it its just a teeny tiny bit more sharp imo, and for me nothing tops the mic peaking scream Alfred lets out there. But overall amazing so far!

Knoblauch: Fhuuuu lot to unpack here for me. I'm definitely getting used to the german, which I don't here a lot of in a daily basis becasue hehe Hungary, but I'm trying to not view it as strange therefore bad, it has a lot of great moments but I'm used to the flow of hungarian. Now, I really don't know how to feel about professor right now. If you have seen my page, I *LOVE* hungarian professor, but so far.. I don't love this version. Alfred is still cute tho, but I miss his dumb little laugh when he says the line about Magdas breasts, somehow that made me like him even more. Also, Chagal. I have a mixed but mostly positive relationship with him in the hungarian, he has a very fun way of singing changing his range all the time, but so far he irritates me sorry😅 But yeah 10/7, Knoblauch 👍

Gott ist tot: I....i actually prefer Egyházi Géza sorry. I knew going in that I'm going to be very biased for Egyházi Géza because well...yes. But while I didn't dislike the song, I actually liked it, nothing tops his performance for me. The hungarian version is more...what is the right word.. soft? Flowy? Really hard to explain because I'm not an expert but to me german is a harsher sounding language than hungarian and because they are both from different language families, it's hard for me to relate to something so different. This doesnt mean the german version is bad❗❗I love the chorus part it's very eerie, maybe even more than the hungarian but I still prefer that over this. Regardless 10/8👍

Warheit: Yeah uh...I don't like professor. It's a very delicate matter because essentially he sings the same way as hungarian professor but **something** is missing that makes him lovable in my eyes. Also just singing "logic" is weird for me, and for that I actually prefer the hungarian lyrics which is "Ténytől tényig, ez visz az igazságig- From fact to fact this leads to the truth" but thats really not something I can complain about. I love when the others starts singing too, it really elavates the whole number to a 10/8 jegercsik csaba hit that high note better imo

Du bist wirklich sehr nett: I prefer Héger Tibor here. Somehow he captured that exact tone of being terrified but also infatuated with Sarah (and my actual flirting skills) for me nothing beats his "goodnight" at the start. Something people didn’t catch was that in this animation, which is supposed to take place around the time Eddie moved into the neighborhood, he had his mail hat! But, currently, he doesn’t! That’s not because he lost it, Howdy actually stole it! Howdy immediately attempted to scam Eddie when he first arrived, stealing his hat and trying to sell it back to him, but he did not know that Eddie would not give a fuck. Howdy thought Eddie cared way more about his job then he actually does. So, Eddie’s hat is still currently decaying under Howdy’s desk.

All the characters have trauma or something depressing about them… except Julie! I’m not sure why but I just.. never came up with something reasonable for her backstory. I came up with a lot of ideas, but a lot of them seemed to cliche and controversial? Like, one of my ideas was some sort of sex working trauma, but I thought oooh of course you gave the most feminine character the sex working backstory! Another idea was eating disorder trauma, but again, ooh i gave the fem one the ED! The same thing happened with SA trauma, it all just felt so… cliche. And I felt like I would get a lot of backlash if I tried to implement this. So.. im still working on it!

^ originally Franks backstory was going to be completely SA related, but I changed that. Still not spoiling how, though.

^^ also I really liked the sex working idea! Because I think it would be interesting if thats how Eddie and her met. Not that Eddie bought sex from her, but that they like worked together and slowly became friends! Eddie kept her safe n stuff, beat the shit out of ppl that didnt pay yknow? Explored a deeper level of understanding between them

Ive been daydreaming about attempting to make my own little bootleg “play fellow exhibition” not nearly to the extent that Clown did, but just some sort of fake “restored” things! Maybe even fake interviews with those that remember the show! Ive even recorded some lines, of my own voice, of fake voice clips restored from the show. I haven’t had the confidence to post any of them just yet aa. I think my Eddie impression is IMPECCABLE though. Maybe bc I have a southern accent

I hide a lot of secrets in my art. Bc its fun. If you ever see something in my art thats a little too dark, feel free to up the brightness and see what you find. Does something sort of look like Morse code? Feel free to try it out! I’ll give you a hint, I have used both of these techniques to hide secrets in my art already. I like to think that the AU’s show is like Rick and Morty. It started out this comedic, very clearly adult-humored show, but slowly the characters had lore! People started watching not for the humor but for the interesting characters. Like when Rick was revealed to have a depressing story with his wife and all that, it was the same as when ppl first found out about Frank’s strange amnesia and PTSD. Like “?? Who put lore in my funny adult comedy??” Yknow what i mean

^ i like to think there was some mind-bending moment where it was revealed Frank doesnt remember anything about his childhood and everyone watching was like :O

Originally in the show, (like season one), the characters were the way they are to make fun of those things. Confusing, but what i mean is that Poppy was a trans woman to make fun of trans people, Eddie and Frank were to make jokes about gay ppl, etc. but SIKE once the show got more seasons and got lift off they became actual characters instead of just jokes! The creators just wanted to make ppl love the show before they made the gay characters actually have personalities, so they couldn’t get cancelled prematurely! HA SUCKERS!!

Fitz couldn’t open the front door. 

The keys were in his hands, he was already on the porch, the next step should have been easy: moving. Just two more steps, a slight of the hand and he was inside. 

His vision was starting to blur, though. His heartbeat was too elevated. He knew the signs well. Something was about to go really wrong. 

Dex leaned against the door frame, barely cracking the door open. “We talked about this, Fitzy. You can’t expect your body to just suddenly jump back into full force.” 

“I know.” “Do you?” Dex swung the door open fully and started to walk away. 

“Yes, Deck.” Fitz came inside, barely closing the door behind him. “I’m in the same doctor’s appointments you are.”

Somehow they moved to the kitchen. Fitz knew somewhere that he should pin this and bring it up when his body wasn’t on the verge of collapsing, or he didn’t feel 3 seconds away from throwing up, yet he wanted this fight. It felt easier, somehow. “I know that losing a leg doesn’t mean I can go up from five miles in the morning to seven. I know that my body has 17 and half things wrong with it, and pushing the exercises only makes it worse. I know the same shit you do.”

“So why do you keep trying to over-exert yourself?” Dex’s words were harsh. Sharp and built up. “Why do you push yourself so hard you can’t even come inside the house because your body freezes? Why don’t you try gradually building up? Or any other option. It’s like you don’t care about yourself. Or how it’ll affect me.”

“That’s a bit of a fucking selfish viewpoint. What’s wrong with my body should have more weight than how you feel.”

There was a pause as they’d realized their feet were all-but-touching. 

“Ok, pause.” Dex sighed, taking a step back. “We’ve both had a long morning and this isn’t fair for either of us. Go take a shower, and we’ll come back to this when we’ve cooled down.”

Thirty minutes later, as Dex was plating something off the stove, Fitz sat on the kitchen counter. He was too tired to fully tell what was happening across from him, but it smelled good, and his body was in no position to object. 

The time of transition was filled with the clanging of pots and pans, until Dex handed him a fried egg on toast with something green alongside it. “About before, I know reminding you all the time doesn’t help. I’m just-” Fitz lightly grabbed the snack, putting it on the counter beside him. He brought his head against Dex’s, “Worried. I know. I appreciate that, I really do. But you have to remember this is my body. I've had the same one for 19 years now. I know its signals.”

“I know that, objectively.” Dex squeezed his eyes close and brought his nose against Fitz’s. “And I’m not trying to control you but you’ve said that exact phrase before. And I’ve believed it before. And I don’t want to be overbearing. I just . . .”  

Fitz brought his hand between Dex’s curls. “There was more going on than just my body Dex. We were literally kidnapped and tortured. Of course my health was at risk. ”

Dex wouldn’t look at Fitz. 

“But my gadget still failed you.” 

“Even if they worked we were still being tortured, Dex.” Clearly Fitz wasn’t getting through. He brought him in for a tight hug, trying to get him back. “You’re a wizard with the mechanical stuff, but that doesn’t fix shitty people being shitty. Or trauma being trauma.”

Dex’s head stayed down and his brain was somewhere else. “You’re changing the topic,” he mumbled. 

 Fitz shrugged. “I think it’s related, but we can just not address it, too. I can eat my toast in silence.”

Dex held him to that.

As Fitz washed off the dishes while Dex dried them, he let out a heavy sigh. “I know what happened to us isn’t easy to talk about, but not talking about its effects doesn’t change them. Maybe you’re right; I could be overstepping-” “No. I brought it up. Clearly I have something there that I still haven’t resolved. I just don’t think you and I should be the ones to unpack it in. Especially in the middle of the kitchen while you’re regaining strength from another stupid idea.” Dex winked at that last part. 

Fitz brought him in for a hug. 

“Ok sap,” Dex rolled his eyes. “We’re finishing these dishes.” “And this conversation.”

“Ok but that is going to happen after I go to therapy on Wednesday. We can finish this task now.”

“I’m holding you to that.” Dex kissed his cheek.

And Fitz finally felt safe.

on treat's relationship w her family

(& how it ties into the rest of the plot & world building [sort of. kind of. & also my personal thoughts.]...)

i find it absolutely amazing that all of treat's struggles don't stem [directly] from family issues but her own fears. as much as i adore characters who have Issues™️ with their families, we already have two main characters who have unstable connections to arguably the most reoccurring person whom they're related to (mochi & manjuu, moxie & her mother), and trick, the other main character, is literally on a journey to find their lost master (aka, closest thing to family bc he raised them) who has gone into hiding after sending trick off to join treat's pack...

it's a really interesting change from "all of your families have something deeply wrong with them" (which is tied directly into the world-building and the overarching plot being alluded to irt the hierarchy in this society, in which witches are on top, animal folk fighting it out among themselves due to the food chain perpetuated by the witches, and the humans who have, largely, disconnected themselves from the rest of society & thus don't represent a problem to anyone else unless they cross paths)

treat's fear is, indescribably, not wanting to disappoint her parents with the prospect that she's polyamorous. wolves are shown to be tied to traditions that have been passed down for generations, shown in not only the moon ceremony, but the subtle implication of treat finding it comforting to talk about things that are mainly a thing in her pack -- ie. the ushankas (being linked to after mochi's cardigan is mentioned), & how happy she seemed to get when she got to talk about moving igloos, even though it was linked to the reason of "the other animals don't like it when we're around [because we're wolves]") -- and it's clear in this regard that treat values her family and pack so much that, even when nothing else points to the idea they could react to the news negatively, she fears that making them upset will change this relationship with them forever. and it's why instead of facing her fear head on, with kind, understanding people, she runs because she fears being outcasted directly. its why she reacts so negatively when the rabbits chastise her, how she doesnt want to be alone but would prefer subjecting herself to that solitude (becasue she "deserves" it) rather than being forced into it by others. but, not the point...

& it. means a lot to me that even after everything, when treat gets the courage after knowing mochi & moxie will be by her side, that her pack is shown to be incredibly understanding and they still love her. of course, there's mixed reactions -- fennel & powder are varying degrees of upset; in which fennel is distraught that she abandoned her and upon returning immediately introduces her new girlfriends, & though she uses language that suggests she's condemning treat for breaking tradition, you can clearly tell she still genuinely cares about her & shows a familiar fondness in the dinner scene later; & powder is definitely cold about the fact treat left and just came back, but struggles to explain to moxie that he's not mad because she's polyamorous, in fact, he could care less due to being aroace, etc -- candy & cotton need a bit longer to process, as they're the older members of the pack and therefore more tied to the moon ceremony, having been subject to it themselves and knowing of its importance & the feeling of being married under the moon and whatnot. nonetheless, as cotton states, they want the best for their daughter; even if they dont get it right away, they'll try, just for her.

and speaking of her parents, candy just. drives me insane. i like to think both parents had a good role in raising treat, but as of now we only know more about her mother's attempts at raising treat to be who she is. she taught her to not hunt for food, that the salmon in the river & whatever they could trade with the witches would be enough to sustain them -- even going so far as to warn her of another pack, the pack they left when she was young, that they were hunters, and should not be trusted. it also creates a distinct line between the food chain we are familiar with and this world's, which is confirmed not to be earth, and it's a detail i really enjoy. it extinguished the concern i had with the animal metaphor for racism, which is part of why i also appreciate this game so much. but anyway, candy specifically cares so much for treat, going so far as to defend her (& powder + fennel) from tundra when they fought about it... it's so good. it's so good

(&, while i don't have the spoons to elaborate as much: there's also the note of candy's acceptance of treat's departure even though she ran away without telling anyone. she loves her. treat is a full grown adult, capable of making her own decisions, which ties into her acceptance later on; treat deserves to have her own identity, she knows herself better than anyone else, and if learning who she is meant she has to leave, candy's willing to accept that rather than keep her daughter trapped because she loves her so much... & something something that tying into how she'd be no better than tundra back in glaze if she tried to chastise treat for leaving vanilla. etc etc)

I guess if I had to pick (and this isnt from most to least fav just an arbitrary order) Goldenglow is one of my all time favourites, I love her design sooo much its so cute I stockpiled emotes and used her as an icon even before I actually started playing the game, and then when I actually got to Light Sparks in Darkness I was glued to the event the whole time... her story about trying to give the Infected and poor of Caladon dignity and having such a simple dream crushed by the greed of the rich in the area hit really close to home... I don't think people talk about the scene where Haze talks her down from committing suicide enough, that scene is REALLY good and one of the standout moments in Arknights for me. Also s3 carries me through every boss thank u susie <3

I probably have to choose between Silence and Ptilopsis cuz they're so intertwined so it would be sort of pointless to just do both of them for 2 and 3. I'll go with Silence cuz she has way more screentime even though I do love Joyce a whole whole bunch Unlike GG I had 0 clue about her before I started playing and sort of experienced her story out of order, I read Dorothy's Vision and was like "yeah she's cool :)" and then didn't think about her that much and then I finally got convinced into reading the manwha and it transformed my mind forever... the complexity of her story and relationship with Ifrit and Saria and Rhine Lab, how selfless & passionate she is to make up for the things she did wrong... ;-; < 3333. The underdog story of all of these great minds in columbia being unfolded by a tired, dedicated 5 nothing owl mom is so good. I also really love her design and Nori might be my favourite AK artist so every piece of art he does of her I love seeing. (also i really like guardians of gahoole as a kid so im obssessed with owls)

Pudding :) Shes so cute. Let me get straight to the point. I have seal 13. I don't want to be too negative on my account hashtag peace and love... BUT... Related to earlier mentions... I kind of can't get behind Redblade/GG anymore. It's not necessarily that I hate the idea of them together, but it feels like "red miraculously showing up to save GG from problems" is pretty much the weakest storytelling aspect of Light Sparks in Darkness that exists just to move the plot along and as a whole the pairing almost always feels like it severely downplays the depths of her character in favor of STRONG MAN protect CUTE GIRL. It's a very stereotypical M/F pairing I'm much more interested in her relationship with Quercus or Haze, both of who have seen Susie at her lowest points and reached out to support her, as opposed to Red who pretty much just like. is nice to her and saves her from goons Also every single male doc / female operator pairing kinda grosses me out, it's pandering that reduces the characters to one note caricatures of themselves. If you read doc as male all of his actual in-universe relationships are made less interesting by being romantic or you are inventing a sex god chad that does not exist to magically seduce operators that do not interact with him in the story. I was going to call it self-insert garbage but the male!doc/female operator fan content i have seen is an insult to self-insert garbage.

Out of curiosity, how does Archie feel about superheroes? Partially as a vigilante (like, does he think their portrayal in media is realistic to the superpowered crimefighting experience) and partially as a fan (is the genre super cool)

Also, does he take inspiration from any of them? You've mentioned that he banters with his enemies while fighting and smiles at the people he saves, which is very reminiscent of Spider-Man to me (one of my very very favorites) so I'm wondering if he does that on purpose or if he's just a sweetheart who wants to dissolve the tension for the people in danger and it leads to him acting like that

so i want to start by saying that archie is like. well he's kind of meant to replace spiderman and/or daredevil in this universe. its hard to explain. like i'd like to think he lives in a universe where no other well-known comic book superheros actually exist and they are all fictional in his universe.

if that makes sense.

i feel like im getting really into the meta here but to put it simply, archie's story takes place in new york (which means archie has a new york accent btw). he's like an alternative universe spider-man/daredevil combo (if you look at his powers specifically) so those characters no longer exist but every other comic book character exists as fictional characters. especially dc because the cities in dc are mostly made up.

SO back to the question at hand.

i think archie sees their portrayal in comics as a bit dramatic. like batman is always brooding in his little cave and archie is like "yeah right." i feel like he's amused at when superheros get injured in comics because hes like "that guy would NOT be doing those flips after breaking three ribs and getting a severe concussion. i'd know."

BUT he does enjoy the comics anyways. he thinks they're very entertaining and hes just a Nerd so he looks past all the inaccuracies for a good story!

i feel like the character he identifies the most with is nightwing (my beloved) because hes a vigilante working on a small scale and he likes how silly he is. he looks to him for the most inspiration because he loves how down to earth he is with civilians. he also related to having his World Rocked at a very young age

and as for who my (author) inspirations for him were, it's a combonation of 3 main ones that i've already mentioned but i'm going to briefly explain why/how:

peter parker/spider man - this one is kind of obvious. archie is this sunny, quippy, young guy from new york who goes around at night beating up bad guys and buying hotdogs from the hotdog vendors.

matt murdock/daredevil - i took this man more for the concept of having an accident happen to you as a kid and gaining enhanced abilities from it. obviously archie is not blind, but he does have heightened senses and operates in kind of the same location and on the same small scale as daredevil!

dick grayson/nightwing - tbh i included him because i love him and i modeled archie's sass on him. he's different from peter parker becasue he's older and so is archie, but the similarities also come in their humor and quips! the vigil suit is also vaguely inspired by nightwing's suit

So I had a little idea for a crossover fic with Stardew Valley and Into the Woods. But I need a little bit of help deciding who's who.

Here are my thoughts on the characters

I would like the farmer to be the baker. This is mostly because Into the Woods revolves around the Baker and is as close to a main character as there is in Into the Woods. Plus having the Grandfather being the enemy of the witch/wizard makes the most sense. Although I could see Abigial being good in the Bakers role and having Peirce being angry at the wizard for being the actually father of his chind but I digress . Now personally Haley is my favorite bachelor/bachelorette so I feel like I have to make her the bakers wife but this could be changed.

Now Little Red Ridding Hood. I feel like theres only one person who could play little Red and thats Abigail. Both are very adventerous but at the end of the day are still people who get scared and feel sad despite trying to prove others otherwise. This does however bring up the question, Who is grandma?

Heres an easy one Witch as the Wizard.

Now Jack on the other hand I could see being two people for enterly different reasons. Either Shane or Sam. I think Shane would be a good choice because of his love for animals it would make it easier to replace Milky White with a chicken. But Sam on the other hand fits Jack's personality and age better. I also have to consider Jack's mom into the equation because I think Marnie or Jodi could fit into the role pretty well.

Now the princes. I LOVE the idea of Elliot as one of the princes, specifically Rapunzel's Prince, both very poetic and whimsical. I think the other prince could be Alex which would work with the Baker's Wife/prince affair close to the end of the musical but im not totally firm on that one.

And for some reason I could see Willie being the Mysterious man/Bakers Father. I just think its a little silly and thats why I like it.

But heres the part I need help on. Cinderella and Rapunzel.

Rapunzel is tough because she needs to be related to the baker somehow and have a close connection to the Witch. I could see Penny being a good fit but for no particullar reason.

Cinderella on the other hand needs to have some form of a bad home life or else the story of Cinderella doesnt make sense. I could also see Penny here becasue of her relationship with her mom or I could see Sebastian here because Demetrius is the worst stepfather of all time and I could easily see Robin brushing off small things she sees between Demetrius and Seb. Either way I think we would have to get rid of the wicked stepsisters because i would hate to picture Maru in a negative light like that. However I think Emily would make the most sense logically and would be a really good Cinderelle. She has absent parents and a not so great sister. I just need yall's thoughts.

I would like to hear yalls opinions on who the characters would be (Keep in mind, most of the die) even if yalls characters are totally different than mine. I would also want to know in anyone is vaugley interested in this and if anyone is interested in co-writing!

jeff, liu and jane (sorry nina </3) with a reader that has known them even way before their incident? like their traumas and jeff’s snapping etc stuff, y’know? the reader has changed a lot ever since they last saw them because of a certain own trauma they have themselves and it really affected them, they were much more of a hopeful and nice person but now theyre rude (not that much of rude to their partner), cold and quiet? their personality is not a ‘acts rude but is nice’ thing, it’s just a complete personality change. few of a physical changes like some scars too. thank u sm!

☆ Jeff the Killer

Okay, you made Jeff all suprised, he didnt expected that kind of change from you but! at the same time he relates. Have you seen him? Boy change so much the last time you saw him. So as weird it is for Jeff typical persona, you have high change that he will be understanding and caring towards you (well, on his own way)! Deep down he can't stand the idea what happend to you, you are similar to him now and he hates to think about that, he turned into monster after all. He came through a lot of shit, but now you too? His feelings didn't change, he still loves you for you, but its break his heart (not that he will show it-). He cares more about you than about himself, and he doesn't like seeing you in such pain.. Get ready to some of this vurnable days with him where its only you two against the world. Jeff isn't the best when it comes to comforting but if you need it, he would gladly complain abot everything or set something on fire.

☆ Homicidal Liu

Liu is mature when it comes to that topic. He is well aware that people change by years and it would happen sooner or later. Is more worried about your trauma tho, will try his best to help you in any way he could. He understands how much traumatic events affect your brain, and he is patient with you as always, not mad by your cold act. About your change of appreance he doesn't mind, he is just so happy to have you back..! For real, boy missed you a lot. All he wanna do is be for you, and have you in his arms once again. As time passess by, he would gladly talk with you about what happend, if you haven't mentioned it earlier. He doesn't want to be pushy, but he just need to know what happend or he will make worst-case-scenarios in his head.. Anyway, he is glad to be with you again at the end of the day, and he would do anything for you!

☆ Jane the Killer

Now Jane tends to be really sweet and caring about people she loves, she gives a bit of mom vibes! So I guess you will be in good hands, huh? She understands you well, its not like she know exactly what you feel becasue there is no need to compare your both traumas, but she definitely will comfort you if its needed. And if your trauma is caused by someone, and this person is still alive..come on, say the world and she will get rid off them..I believe Jane is not the biggest fan of killing (even counting bloody thinks she had done), but she would do anything for you if that would help you feel better. About your scars, if you happen to be insecure, she will try her best to make you feel pretty again! A lot of complements and words of support 25/8! Jane also doesnt argue with you or make a huge fuss if you happen to snap at her, she will give you some space if its needed and talk about it with you!

Ocean's 8 ANALYSIS [1/?] : MET GALA DRESS RANKING

I have watched Ocean's 8 and I have THOUGHTS so letss gooooo This is going to be in a number of parts becuse ahhhh this is gonna be long probably

Let's start with my ranking of the Met Gala looks because AHHHHH i need to get this out of my braiiinnnn (and it's also proabbaly the lightest topic, so!)

The important thing to remember about our O8 ladies is that a. they slay b. they are pulling a heist, so why they need to be glamerous enough to fit in, they also need to avoid standing out. My ranking will be based upon the very subjective scale of "how pretty i think it is" with notes about how this relates to the heist etc

Going from best to worst, first up ---

9Ball aka Rihanna wearing TF out of this simple yet elegetn dress. It's very no nonsense, luxurious but simple.

When I tell you I GASPED when she got out of the van wearing this... Bro. Unmatched. The silluate and fit are perfect and this red was MADE for her, I swear.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

You can be a party pooper and say that despite its simplicity it's still to fancy and tight for a character like 9Ball who, tbh, didn't need to go to the gala anyway (being the hacker and off site by design). To that I say that we deserve to see Rihanna kill it going down the stairs like she owns the place which, if we're honest, she proabbaly does.

I love this dress so fucking much it's so simple yet such a perfect freaking fit. Love it.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss hell yes.

Lou kills it with a suit that perfectly encapsulate her 'muscline' and edgy look throughout the film, just all glammed up. The color, the sparkle, that cheeky cleavage showing the jewl, omg. I want the entire wardrobe of Kate Blanche in this movie and her look was no dissapointment.

The thing that trips me a little bit, though, is that she wasn't filmed in the gala like the rest of the squad, and we only get to see her wearing this on the street, walking to Debbie, and I stg I thoguht she litterally wore this on the street and was like ???? But that was O K. and you know why? Cause she did it for the vibs and the WLWs and that's ok by meee.

The woman of the hour, Daphn Klueger aka Anne Hathaway.

It's lovely - I'm actually a little bit obssssed because I love a good cape and this is a GREAT cape, and whil striking it's not overbaring and works weell with th straplss dress to showcase th neckless.

This one is interesting bcausee it was designed, in univrse, to stand out and follow the gala theme (european royalty) and I actually feel that in universe she was proabably one of the 'adaquate, but not wow' persons of the night and the interenet probabaly chewed her off for not going all the way with the theme butttt

This is a movie, not real life, and the purpose of this outfit was to highlight the Necklace aka the target aka the focus point for the movie, which it did (as I say, it frames it perfectly) and it is a decent enough nod to the theme for me to belive this is a legit met gala outfit someone would wear.

My only issue is this color. I DON'T like it, not for this. A rich (royal) blue would have looked much better imo (and might have been a node to princess Diana famous ring if we go all big brain about it). I think the color was chosen to make Daphne stick out over the viewers and grab our focus (which was her role in the plot, tbh), so I get it - even if I don't like it.

Ok, love this. Amita - aka Mindy Kaling - suntring down the stairs in a look that is, literally, pure gold.

Love. Love. LOVE the sleeves, the ornament heavy on top, and the way the fabric drapes. She looks fantastic and this is definetally her kind of gold. The golden dress also gets extra points because I think that its good for hiest reasons - if you see her in passing and don't know who she is, you will rememebr the dress more than the person becasue it's so sparkly. I also like her hair in this, It feels nicely done but reasonable, considering she had to move from her kitchen worker costum to this in very short time.

A stong yet not overwheleming look from our woman on the inside, Tammy aka Sarah Pualson. She is the event orgnizers and therefore went with the (releteively) modest black on black look which fits in with the servers outfits and I personally really like.

I think it also works for Tammy as a person - it's not revealing, the puff sleeves make gives her broad sholders (cause she's a strong woman, lol) and It does look practicle for a woman who will probabaly be up on her feet all night, making sure things run smoothly - both in the heist and the actual gala.

My only issue? It looks CRUNCHY. It's one of those fabric that would either crumble or cut my hands if I try to squeeze it. Pretty spooky.

Debbi Ocean aka Sandra Bullock in this look that I'd call sufficiant - mfancy enough for the gala but underwhelming overall --- which is exactly the point of a heist disguise. She doesn't stand out and most people will probabaly forget she was even there.

The reason it's so low on the list is because I just.... don't like it very much. I think it's the gold-on-black color scheme, which I'm not a huge fan of, personally.

I WILL SAY that it works well with her wig which is practically the color of the embelishments and thus kinda mix the entire look togther in a fitting yet unimpressiv blob, a perfect costume for the heist.

Also I get a kick out of her being the only one wearing a wig, an extra con for our head conwoman.

It's not that I don't like this dress - I HATE it. I get that Rose is a once-legendary-now-flop in universe but comon, Helena Boham Carter deserved better than this.

It's doing so much, gives so little, and is just MESSY. The tacky print. THe flower embelishment. The unclear folds (?) around the chest UNDER the tacky print. WHY.

Though the biggest offendrs are the accessories. What in the mid 2010's is those stupid sunglasses - which, now that I look at them, might have been decent if not for that stupid giant hairpeice of mounted crap.

Rose Wile consisently gets the worst costumes in this movie and I just. Don't. Get it. This is the worse one though, by far.

Ok, but why do this to my girl Constanse (aka Awkwafina).

I have a personal hatred to those hotdog looking dresses with the nude mesh and those applique looking embelishment. Why not give her a suit, as well? She was wearing shirt+pants street style the entire movie, why torture hr lik this?

I hate it, but I do love the way she's wearing it, with he heels (who gave her HEELS?) in her hands and the IM DONE look on her face.

I do wonder how they glammed up her hair so fast, though. Weren't they on a tight heist schedual? Is this some secret thief trick? If so, where I can I learn it???

And that's it for the MET GALA looks of Ocean 8. It's a fun movie and I have lots more to talk about (good and bad) but it'll have to wait. So, for now, gorgeous gorgous dresses. HAHAH.

¨What, now the locker doors are gone?!¨ Yashiro said after her and Aoi ran to see what happened.

¨Who would do something like this?¨ A male student questions.

'Is all of it related?' Yashiro thought in her head nervously worried.

Something was lurking nearby watching.

[something hits the watering can out of Aoi's hand]

¨eh?!¨yashiro says smiling, tilting her head.

[freaking out noises]¨EHh, I'm sorry nene I swear I didn't mean to something knocked my hand!!¨ ｡･ﾟﾟ*Σ(>△<)*ﾟﾟ･｡

¨Im not upset[scales start showing] I thought it was pretty funn- EH?!¨(||@△@,.) AAHHHhhh[WAit! Where are you going?!! - Aoi called out]hhhhhhhh!!!!!!

[Out of breath][Hanako's hakujoudai floating above her] ¨That could have been really bad. [looks at her hand]I can't imagine what anyone would say if they saw these. I was trying to get out so fast I didn't realize I ran into the old building. [Hanako's hakujoudai nudges Yashiro's head]¨Hey what're you doing!?¨[she looks behind her for a couple of seconds]. . .¨Uhh, I'm gonna go. But first I have to tone down these gross scales I need to find something to dry them with. Huh?¨[towel appears][sparkles around her]¨Its like you heard me! Thank you! I'm sorry to whoever dropped this I promise it's for a good cause.¨As she says the last part she looks over to see other things on the floor.

She looks between a door and a curtain(?) to see a tall purple figure. The purple figure looked at her with its one then circles it freaking her out. [scared noises from her] As she saw its eye move got scared and fell backward. The tall purple thing grew multiple arms and one grabbed her by her leg. ¨Dont hurt me, please!!¨She cried out. ¨ץ๏ย รคฬ ยร.¨ It said as it toward over her. {¨It's important that you never look directly at yousei¨} Then multiple eyes showed, looking at her and it was now a big glob-like creature that was towering over her. {¨Becasue in the instant you do,¨} All of the hands started coming at her at a fast speed, she screamed and covered herself for waiting for the impact and then...

¨Scatter them Hakijoudai!¨ Hanako commanded his orb(don't know what that move is)making it fly fast at the purple creature hitting it. Yashiro was still on the floor covering her head and now letting go of it as Hanako speaks. The monster cracked and was now falling in slow motion.

¨Between boys and apparitions I can't tell who you choose to embarrass yourself over more.¨ He says while walking over to her. Crouching down in front of her resting his elbow on his leg and placing his hand on his cheek. ¨What is the deal? Did you forget the fact that you can still die?.. Well?~¨ he said looking at her. 

Her eyes were teary, with some tears, also falling down her cheeks looking at him. . ¨Hanako i.....¨'I needed him to save me...again.' She thought as something pink hit her on the top of the head and fell to the floor. ¨Ow!¨ She said. They both look at what had hit her, it was now laying on the floor. ¨What are these?¨ ¨They're Mokke. But people here call them Yousei.¨ They were all lined in a row looking at both of them with puppy eyes.

¨Theve always lived around humans. They're known for stealing things and pulling little pranks." He said after Yashiro started poking one of them. ¨Theyre nothing like that terrifying monster from earlier. They're so cute.¨[still poking one] ¨¢นt it ໐นt.¨ it softly whispered. ¨Theyre shapeshifters. When they feel threatened or are about to attack they'll cluster together the way you first saw them. Normally they aren't aggressive and don't attack humans.¨Hanako explained. ¨Wₑ ₙₑᵥₑᵣ wₐₙₜₑd ₜₒ ₖᵢₗₗ ₐₙyₒₙₑ ₑᵢₜₕₑᵣ..bᵤₜ ₒᵤᵣ ₛₜₒᵣy ᵢₛ dᵢffₑᵣₑₙₜ ₙₒw ᵢₜ cₕₐₙgₑ wᵢₜₕₒᵤₜ ₐₛₖᵢₙg ᵤₛ¨ the same one said. ¨ᵂᵉ ᵈⁱᵈⁿ'ᵗ ʷᵃⁿᵗ ⁱᵗ ᵗʰⁱˢ ʷᵃʸ¨ Another little said. ¨What story?¨Yashiro asks.

¨The rumors ��ųɱąŋʂ share..¨ An unknown voice said, which sounded familiar to Hanako. So he looks over [also yashiro] to see who it was and sees.....his best friend..m/n. His eyes started to water. His smile turned into a frown with some tears. M/n was holding one of the Mokke giving it one of his pocky. One was on top of his head. And another was on his shoulder. 

¨Oh! You're are that boy apparition I met yesterday! The 8th wonder.¨ Yashiro said with a LITTle tint of blush.

¨eighth wonder..? What do you mean...eighth..?¨ Hanako quietly asks but m/n heard.

¨Apparitions aren't able to go against the rumors that they are created about them. So even as humans exaggerate and alter the story, apparitions have no choice but to act accordingly. Those who don't align with their folklore will eventually vanish from the world entirely.¨ M/n said. Some were coming to him looking at him and he knew what they wanted, so he shared. ¨Like disappear..?¨ She asks as some of them eat out of a bag of candy.

So last Tuesday (Aug 8th) we went to see The Barbie Movie. Now I wasn't a Barbie Girl growing up I had a hand full of dolls but I wasn't really into the whole Barbie thing as a kid I feel that I have more dolls in general now as an adult being I do collect alot of 1:6 Scale stuff of characters I like (mostly Lara Croft😁) and some of them are special edition Barbies. I just gravitated a lil more toward I guess you would say "boys toys" being I loved (and still do love) things like Star Wars, Transformer, Masters of the Universe, ect. I had tons of the She-Ra stuff to go with my He-Man 😄 Now my sister was a Barbie girl and had all the Barbie stuff and that is when I would mostly play Barbies on those rare moments when we weren't fighting and at each others throats. also yes there was of course collectable goodies for it and you can read all about that here.

Now as for the movie I thought it was going to be a lil weird, funny and silly and I wasn't wrong but it also had a very dramatic punch to it too but I can honestly say I did love it. I thought it was excellently done and felt it perfectly captured Barbie and her world.

The opening sequence where it is the 2001: A Space Odyssey parody that you see in the trailer is really good and it is a longer sequence and the voice over by Helen Mirren makes it even more funny and her narration through the entire movie is perfect and adds to the over all humor. Then after that you get to the actual main part of the movie and to Barbie Land and that were you are introduced to Margot Robbie's Barbie and everything she does I was like "this has to be in someone's imagination becasue this is exactly how you play"

but I would have to say the production design and everything was perfect! like when Ken (Ryan Gosling) gets "injured" and the whole "Doctor Barbie" thing with the fold out hospital was awesome!

The references,jokes and all the little things though the movie were awesome I had a few wide eyed gasps and plenty of smiles while watching this

The acting was I thought perfect everyone in this did an amazing job and Margot Robbie was perfect as Barbie (or stereotypical barbie as she is referred to in the movie) She was Barbie and I don't think anyone else could have done that better. Also Ryan Gosling as Ken (or I guess he would be stereotypical Ken/ Beach Ken) was perfect in this too! like I said everyone was amazing

The music is great and the Barbie dance number was really well done but the whole Ken dance number and follow-up Beach showdown/battle of the Kens I felt was just hilariously weird The song is really good but but that sequence in the movie is just purely hilariously weird

I thought it was funny were Mattel made fun of themselves as being this almost evil soulless corporation and everything being just grey and bland but when you went up to the boardroom everything was just pink and girly and they care about little girls dreams

Now when they get to the "real world" the movie does kinda hit differently it is still have the fun and silliness but at the same time you have a bit more of a seriousness and you do feel like you understand things a bit more. I can say that I felt that the movie did resonate with me alot and in various ways

There were moments were I totally could relate to Margot Robbie's Barbie on various levels and then also there were moments where I could totally relate to America Ferrera's character of Gloria on on various levels

I did kinda feel sorry for Ryan Gosling's Ken I was all "awww.." becasue he is so sad all he wants is to be noticed and loved by Margot Robbie's Barbie its like thats his purpose in life and he is trying so hard for that and she doesn't love him back it is kinda sad, so I kinda felt bad for him and felt his somewhat villain turn was kinda understandable becasue when they went to the real world he got love and respect from others but it was not the right kind but in the end when he come back to his senses that is all he wanted was the love and respect of Margot Robbie's Barbie.

In the end I thought it was excellently done and it is just a weirdly fun movie that you can enjoy. So I would highly recommend it. I really liked it and the ppl I went with did too we did a Girl's night for this one the boys didn't go. so we all like it.

There is no credits scenes but the credits did have an interesting lil animated thing where they showed alot of the dolls that inspired the movie.
