after moving back into my parents house to save money post grad, i noticed myself going back into bad habits and routines from high school i worked hard to break in college… anyway blah blah blah now i’m forcing myself into new routines to make sure i take care of myself and keep myself healthy and make plans with friends to move out and setting goals blah blah blah something something maturity and growth 🙂↕️

Welcome to the year 2030. Welcome to my city – or should I say, “our city.” I don’t own anything. I don’t own a car. I don’t own a house. I don’t own any appliances or any clothes.
It might seem odd to you, but it makes perfect sense for us in this city. Everything you considered a product, has now become a service. We have access to transportation, accommodation, food and all the things we need in our daily lives. One by one all these things became free, so it ended up not making sense for us to own much.
First communication became digitized and free to everyone. Then, when clean energy became free, things started to move quickly. Transportation dropped dramatically in price. It made no sense for us to own cars anymore, because we could call a driverless vehicle or a flying car for longer journeys within minutes. We started transporting ourselves in a much more organized and coordinated way when public transport became easier, quicker and more convenient than the car. Now I can hardly believe that we accepted congestion and traffic jams, not to mention the air pollution from combustion engines. What were we thinking?
Sometimes I use my bike when I go to see some of my friends. I enjoy the exercise and the ride. It kind of gets the soul to come along on the journey. Funny how some things seem never seem to lose their excitement: walking, biking, cooking, drawing and growing plants. It makes perfect sense and reminds us of how our culture emerged out of a close relationship with nature.
In our city we don’t pay any rent, because someone else is using our free space whenever we do not need it. My living room is used for business meetings when I am not there.
Once in a while, I will choose to cook for myself. It is easy – the necessary kitchen equipment is delivered at my door within minutes. Since transport became free, we stopped having all those things stuffed into our home. Why keep a pasta-maker and a crepe cooker crammed into our cupboards? We can just order them when we need them.
This also made the breakthrough of the circular economy easier. When products are turned into services, no one has an interest in things with a short life span. Everything is designed for durability, repairability and recyclability. The materials are flowing more quickly in our economy and can be transformed to new products pretty easily. Environmental problems seem far away, since we only use clean energy and clean production methods. The air is clean, the water is clean and nobody would dare to touch the protected areas of nature because they constitute such value to our well-being. In the cities we have plenty of green space and plants and trees all over. I still do not understand why in the past we filled all free spots in the city with concrete.
Shopping? I can’t really remember what that is. For most of us, it has been turned into choosing things to use. Sometimes I find this fun, and sometimes I just want the algorithm to do it for me. It knows my taste better than I do by now.
When AI and robots took over so much of our work, we suddenly had time to eat well, sleep well and spend time with other people. The concept of rush hour makes no sense anymore, since the work that we do can be done at any time. I don’t really know if I would call it work anymore. It is more like thinking-time, creation-time and development-time.
For a while, everything was turned into entertainment and people did not want to bother themselves with difficult issues. It was only at the last minute that we found out how to use all these new technologies for better purposes than just killing time.
My biggest concern is all the people who do not live in our city. Those we lost on the way. Those who decided that it became too much, all this technology. Those who felt obsolete and useless when robots and AI took over big parts of our jobs. Those who got upset with the political system and turned against it. They live different kind of lives outside of the city. Some have formed little self-supplying communities. Others just stayed in the empty and abandoned houses in small 19th century villages.
Once in a while I get annoyed about the fact that I have no real privacy. Nowhere I can go and not be registered. I know that, somewhere, everything I do, think and dream of is recorded. I just hope that nobody will use it against me.
All in all, it is a good life. Much better than the path we were on, where it became so clear that we could not continue with the same model of growth. We had all these terrible things happening: lifestyle diseases, climate change, the refugee crisis, environmental degradation, completely congested cities, water pollution, air pollution, social unrest and unemployment. We lost way too many people before we realized that we could do things differently.

My First Draft Limbo
Writing is never an easy task, in any form, but I don’t think I have ever procrastinated this much before this first draft.
See, I started this project in November of 2018. (Which is why that is around the time my book is set.) My mom suggested I start a new project so I could focus and finish one. This came up because I had gone on a lengthy rant about my favorite book. I had been analyzing it and it became clear I had taken too long a brake from my writing. The very next day I had a fresh notebook full of new ideas and I was writing. Unfortunately, my momentum didn’t last. I got the first 50 pages done in a matter of weeks. After that, I fell terribly ill and ended up in the hospital. I became overwhelmed with trying to balance school, work, learning to be an adult, and taking care of my unfortunately poor health. (And yes, being 19, medically frail and living in LA is not fun during this epidemic. I’m practically walking around with a box of Clorox Wipes.) With all that going on I had a hard time finding space in my life for literature. Now over a year has gone by and I’m just barely at 100 pages. Knowing I can do better and writing faster is the most frustrating part.
In these past two months I have been working very hard to get back on a writing routine. I have taken tips and suggestions from many people as well as use what has worked in the past and I am starting to get back on track. I’d like to share what works and invite readers to incorporate strategies I use into their own writing focus plan.First, I started doing morning free writes again, just to get the gears turning. For those who don’t know, free writing is when you take fifteen minutes to write nonstop. It doesn’t have to be pretty or nice, just write exactly what you’re thinking as you’re thinking it. No filter. If you can’t manage that at first, that’s fine. Start by writing random letters or numbers, or maybe the lyrics to a song you have stuck in you’re head. You could try describing you’re surroundings in excellent detail. It doesn’t matter. Just keep the pen moving. I know it sounds dumb or embarrassing, but it works.
The other tool I use is a pomodoro focus timer. You can get one on the app store. What it does is count the time you work and the time you break. The timer will have you work for 25 minutes and brake for 5 minutes. It will repeat this cycle until you have worked for a full hour. Then it will give you a long break before starting another hour. All and all it should help you get two hours of writing in. I turn mine on at 2pm every day. Not to mention I do one hour every day of writing blog/journal posts. (Not that I post them immediately)
There’s another thing I do to help me but I hate it. Unfortunately, it’s also very helpful. I set a strict schedule for myself and follow it. Well, of course not always. I’m a whimsical person so I am naturally inclined to slip up, but the framework does help.
The last bit is probably the most important: Health and wellbeing. As someone who’s spent a lifetime with a body in disrepair, I can tell you what a different it makes. When some systems are slower, the body will take power from the brain in order to compensate. Not to mention being tired and feeling sick don’t help to get things done. I mean it when I say the most important and vital aspect of staying on track and focused is taking care of your body. Eat good foods- stay with organics and cut things like gluten, cows milk, and processed sugars-, drink lots of water –most people don’t know that if you are feeling thirsty you are already dehydrated-, get good sleep, keep up with daily moderate exercise. Make sure your body comes before anything else because if you aren’t the healthiest you can’t accomplish anything else.As with everything, take my words with a grain of salt. Every person is different and there are different ways to make sure you stay writing, and that’s ok. Do what every works best for you individually. This is just here to be used if wanted and/or needed.

21 Days to Thriving During the Quarantine
Many of us are facing an unprecedented situation in our lives. Our response systems have no basis for familiarity for the emotional mix our bodies are currently subjected to and this can result in a mix of defense responses, which often leave us even more confused. Here are some of my quarantine practices, which focus on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. I hope they help you to make the best of any situation:
Day One - I will create and maintain a routine
One of the first pieces of my day to deteriorate, if left unchecked, is my waking and sleeping schedule. My general mood is easily affected by too little or too much sleep which is why keeping a fairly regimented sleep schedule is important and my daily schedule has been affected due to changes in work/routines. So this is why I am establishing a new one.
Having set times for meals, work, recreation, & relaxing will help to feel more in control of life and keep from functioning in a state of reaction. Some of us will find ourselves with a lot of down time, while others may be working at home while our children need home schooling. Either way, a routine will help manage whatever situation we find ourselves in.
Affirmation: I am choosing to be proactive about my own personal schedule and the schedule of those that I care for. Day Two - I will dress for the day I hope to have
I am getting dressed everyday as I normally would. This can mean different things for different people, but I am reserving pajamas for normal pajama time. Dress for the day you hope to have. Lazy days are important to plan, but if I dress for a lazy day every day, I will have more lazy days than I want.
Affirmation: Every morning is as I make it; I shower, brush my teeth, etc., and I make time for self care rituals (like baths). Day Three - I will go outside
Part of my daily schedule is to try to get outside everyday and breaking the monotony of the house is a welcome change; moving is healthy. While busier neighborhoods will be crowded during certain times, make sure to include this in your daily schedule.
Affirmation: If leaving the house is not an option, open the windows, let the fresh air in. Day Four - I will exercise
Personally, I aim for a minimum of 2-3 workouts per week. If exercise is new to you, be careful not to overdo it. There are lots of free workout tutorials on YouTube and other resources to follow when starting a workout regimine. Walking/jogging/running is still allowed, just be mindful of the physical distancing protocol.
Affirmation: I will move my body in a positive and strengthening movement that is meaningful for me. Day Five - I will connect to others
While I am making an effort every day to reach out to 3 different people via phone or social media, it is important to connect (or reconnect) with others you have lost touch with. Some of these people are close acquaintances and some I have lost close contact with but now is an ideal time to do it. If you care for others, consider their connection needs as well. Facetime, Skype, Zoom, etc. are all wonderful platforms to use to have some face to face time with friends and family.
Affirmation: Today I will reach out to ___ different people. Day Six - I will be mindful of my eating habits
I have found myself overeating lately. Most likely in a trauma response to this stressful situation. Maintaining healthy diet, water intake, and taking my vitamins is part of my daily routine and even though I’m lucky enough my wife loves to cook, it has been a struggle. So she has been experimenting with new recipes regularly to induce curiosity in our lives. Cooking for some can be a form of self care, and right now is a great opportunity to explore recipes!
Affirmation: Today I will cook something nourishing for my body, mind, and spirit. Day Seven - I will practice self care
This is a big topic and means a lot of different things to different people. How do you self soothe, or calm down to relax? Baths, music, meditation, journaling, inspirational books or podcasts… all of these can be paths to self-care. I have found that familiar tastes, smells, sounds, sights, and sensations are all paths to centering and calming myself. Having some self care items on hand that speaks to your situation is a huge help. In addition, talking to my partner and any other co-inhabitants about my self care routines and rituals has proven just as important. This communication allows us to support each other in caring for ourselves.
Affirmation: Today I will communicate how I need to be validated in self-care rituals. Day Eight - I will spend time with children
If you have kids in your life, now is a great time to make more time for them. Many children may be confused or unsure about what is happening and they will respond to your attention at this crisis and stress-filled time. Talk to the kids in your life about how they are feeling. Ask and encourage communication and playtime. Personally, I would think it therapeutic for the adult as much as the child.
Affirmation: Today I will reach out to a child in my life and see what is speaking deeply in their lives at this moment. Day Nine - I will avoid assumptions
For some, this situation is causing extreme emotional and mental health swings. Mood swings coupled with stay-at-home orders adds to the media frenzy. This is creating a lot of stress, anxiety, anger, and frustration throughout our society and interpersonal circles. I find myself focusing on compassion, understanding, and forgiveness whenever possible.I will not allow arguments over politics or conspiracies dictate the tone of my personal emotional and mental space especially when responding to those who are interacting with me during this time.
Affirmation: I will not allow my personal beliefs interfere with my ability to be compassionate with others. Day Ten - I will create a personal space
Everyone will have a unique take and need when it comes to this topic. Designing my own work and sacred space has been incredibly useful. Not only in making my home a space for both creation, but also, calm. I have seen some kids (and some adults) creating "forts" in the house. Thinking back when I was a child, a fort was a super safe space to play and be creative. Make the best use of the space you have, and try to make sure everyone has a space they can either share for alone time, or a space to call their own.
Affirmation: Today I will create a space to be productive and a place to be creative in my unique way. Day Eleven - I will limit my use of social media
My Facebook feed is a snake pit... right now. Between political disagreements, conspiracy theorists, and news media vying for my interest with their best possible headline, I am under constant attack. But only if I choose to. When I do look at my feed, I have been trying to comfort those who are expressing their personal struggle and being a positive light to those who need it. I also keep my eye out for the helpers and acknowledge their efforts. Social media is a new kind of community, and just like the local community I live in, I can choose what kind of neighbor I want to be.. On or off line. Remember that some of your loved ones (including children) may be super sensitive when exposed to discussion of the world pandemic, so be mindful of when the conversation comes up. What has helped my well-being improvement is intentionally limiting my social media intake. I have also been making the effort to write posts about how I am managing my emotional and spiritual help, to which I have received a lot of great feedback!
Affirmation: Today I will cultivate an online community of compassion and helpfulness to aid in the reconstruction of humanitarianism. Day Twelve - I will shop local
The bigger companies will have a better chance of surviving so this is why you should support your local businesses where and when you can. If you are in a position to donate or buy a gift card, go for it! These small purchases go a LONG way with the smaller business ventures in your immediate area.
Affirmation: Today I will support a local community member to build their business and morale in the best way I know how. Day Thirteen - I will check in on those in need
During this pandemic, some may be unable or afraid to leave their homes. In either case, they still need supplies. Find those people in your life or community to check in and offer to help. If you are one of those people that need help, let us know! Many of us want to help, we just don’t know HOW to. Helping each other and asking for help is how we build a strong community.
Affirmation: Today I will check in with my community to see where I can provide help the best way I know how. Day Fourteen - I will only control what I can
Situations like this remind me of my powerlessness and need to let go of control. I let go of control by taking power over what I do control. This list is pretty short - my actions, my thoughts, my feelings.
An easy way to take control of my environment is to clean, organize, and rethink my space. So in essence, we all have closets, cupboards and spaces that could use some attention… and spring is here. Spring cleaning gives us a sense of control in a situation that showcases our powerlessness. Exercising control can be very grounding and centering… peaceful. Like in the same peace from laundry, dishes, and other simple house chores. Taking control of my space is an empowering way to find peace in uncertainty.
Affirmation: Today I will control my immediate surroundings to cultivate it into a productive and cleansing place I need it to be. Day Fifteen - I will make a goal list
Short term goals, long term goals.. For those of us that are waiting, this is a good time to reflect on where we have been and where we are going. For those of us whose lives got busier and more complicated, a list of vacation spots or things to do when we get some time off will keep us focused.
Affirmation: Today I will create my ultimate vacation and relaxation spot to reflect on my accomplishments and positive outcomes. Day Sixteen - I will find time for hobbies & creating
I don't know how many times I have said, "I wish I could spend more time on that." Many of us are now presented with that “time.” Reading, writing, music, art, exercise, projects, crafts… the list is endless. Try some new things. I am hoping to discover some passions I never knew I had!
Affirmation: Today I will try something new I wish I could have tried in the past! Day Seventeen - I will laugh & smile
This is a wonderful time to be goofy, dance like nobody's watching (even if they are). Watch a comedy show, listen to a funny podcast, whatever it is, just smile and laugh. Laughter is healing and smiling is infectious.
Affirmation: Today I will find something to laugh about… even if it is me Day Eighteen - I will seek the help of a professional
Times are changing and therapists are moving to virtual sessions. This may be a good time to start the therapy you were considering, or pick up where you left off. I have maintained my normal therapeutic routines. While this may include medications & doctor checkups (if possible), be sure to consider the needs of those you care for on this topic as well!
Affirmation: Today I choose to invest time in my own well-being. Day Nineteen - I will live my life one moment at a time
I live my life in the present as much as I am able and try to focus on "a day at a time.” Often, I need to focus on a much smaller segment rather than an entire day. When I break my day into segments and keep my focus there, my mental and emotional health are less likely to become affected. This allows me to look back into the past to prevent me from finding blame and/or projecting about what the future holds.
The only truth we have in all of these conversations is right now. As the information continues to be presented, we will all have a better grasp on what exactly happened, and where we are likely headed. But today... I need to focus on today.
Affirmation: Today… I will focus on this present moment. I will bring my attention to the moment. Day Twenty - I will stay present
Staying present in an ever-changing world is often one met with a lot of resistance. Though we try our hardest, our minds can wander into the future which leads us into anxiety. Or worse, our minds can wander into the past, which can lead into depression.
Affirmation: Today...I will observe the present moment. What is around me? What do I see? What am I feeling? What do I smell? What can I touch? These will all lead me to the present moment. Day Twenty One - I will find the silver lining
“Stay Gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.” Gold is the hardest hue to hold in nature and while JohnnyBoy said it right in “The Outsiders,” he meant it. There is ALWAYS a positive, no matter what situation you find yourself in. Look for the silver lining in everything and I promise it will lead to beauty unknown. I find myself noticing the helpers, and having a new found gratitude for humanity. I see myself helping others, and I am grateful for the capacity to help. I see myself taking care of my needs and the needs of those I care about. I see my community working together, and finding our way to the other side of this complicated time. I enjoy my downtime. I find a new stillness, a new quiet place, and I learn more about myself than I ever dreamt I could.
Affirmation: Today I choose to look for beauty.

2018 In Review
I actually posted resolutions this year but I feel like over all I stuck to them less, despite things this year being generally better than last year. I started bullet journaling last year and during the time I was keeping up with that I was doing a good job with the rest so I do think keeping tabs on things helps me a great deal.
Health Stuff: I was doing very well in the beginning of the year with exercise stuff and kept up pace until the summer hit. But I was never really able to stick to the food related resolutions. Part of that is the way my work schedule would vary, leaving me either starving by dinner time or eating dinner very late, part of it is definitely a will power thing. Veggies are a struggle because 1) they can be expensive and 2) I live with a picky 9 year old who will not eat most of them. But I’m the one who buys groceries so clearly this is a problem I should work toward solving.
Art Stuff: Yeah I did jack all art-wise this year. I did go through some spurts of creativity, more than I felt like I’ve had in previous years, but I did not get anything really produced. And I definitely did not make any progress on my original comic ideas. I don’t want to be too harsh on myself for it though because that isn’t a great motivator for me but I definitely want to get better.
Money Stuff: I’d say over all this year has been better money-wise for me than last year, but it’s been harder for my partner. I actually acquired more debt, but this was in the form of a loan so it’s giving me a credit score finally and is over all benefiting me in the long run. So no real progress has been made over all, possibly some damage done.
Reading: I did way better at reading this year. This might actually be the only resolution I made any progress on this year but hey, progress is progress.
Political Stuff: I won’t say I did much more than previous years other than voting in a midterm election for the first time ever. My sister was the real deal, working with local candidates and canvasing so go her! But I was able to make informed decisions about local politics in a way I’ve not been able to before (again, thanks to sis) so that’s not nothing.
Charitable Stuff: I can’t say I made any progress here. I’m wary of so many organizations and I’m really not sure if any in my area aren’t tied to local churches. The one I know isn’t is apparently something of a toxic work environment and not well managed (I have a friend who works there) and that really puts me off. Probably those are just excuses and I know that anything run by people is going to not be perfect but so many organizations are not actually helping people.
Spiritual Stuff: Again, no real progress made. It’s hard to make time for non-traditional spirituality when so much of society is built around christian rituals. Again, that’s more of an excuse than a reason but I don’t want to half ass things. I want to whole ass it.
Solarpunk: Again, no major progress. Gardening is hard when you don’t have a yard or indoor space to do it and I don’t think I made any reasonable deductions in my consumption either.
Journaling: I was keeping a bullet journal for a while but I was not able to keep up with it year round.
Notable Milestones:
- One of my rats’, Bumble Bean, health declined rapidly over the course of a month or so and I felt she was suffering so I put her down humanely at home. It was still rough, but it was harder for the 9 year old I live with than me. I’ve had many rodents before but this was a first. Her sister PeneloPie is starting to decline as well so it may only be a short time before they’re together again.
- My partner and I celebrated our third year together and also hit over one year of living together. There are parts of it that are still a little scary to me and I sometimes still feel out of my depth but I feel like over all we’ve gotten better at communicating with each other. It hasn’t been perfect but I can’t imagine not living together anymore.
- I have now been tot he west coast and splashed in the Pacific Ocean (that fucker’s rough man).
- I attended a record number of weddings (for me) this year, which was 3. Two of which were my cousins’. I almost attended 4 but couldn’t work it out schedule-wise.
- The number of consistent gaming groups I’m in has risen to four which has at times felt overwhelming and at other times somehow felt like NOT ENOUGH GAMING! I like being part of different groups because I like seeing the varied dynamics and trying out lots of different games/characters. I am at long last playing DnD again and being a wildly different class for the first time ever to boot.
- I had a fifth gaming group at one point that devolved into a bunch of middle school level gossip and drama that lead to the dissolution of the group and me blocking some people on facebook. I’m still not totally sure what people’s motivations were but I do not have time for that bullshit. Honestly for me it was more about the impact it was having on my partner than me that made the final decision.
- My relationship with my parents has mostly returned to normal, or as normal as it’s going to be for us now. I think there will always be some distance that wasn’t there before 2016 but it’s fine.
- I got my car back after nearly a year of walking to work and borrowing vehicles! It took me taking out a loan to do but it was honestly very worth it. Though walking to work wasn’t bad most of the time.

Hello STUDENTS OF TUMBLR, so here’s the post I talked about yesterday. This is a recapitulation for all the study tips I followed whether it worked for me or not. Just try what you think works better for you. if you don’t have time to waste on trying new methods of studying and then failing with it and trying another one. Just sit with yourself, pick a paper and a pen (doesn’t matter the brand HHHHHHHH), then think of how you study the best, what’s your learning style : check here for more , and based on that choose what will work with you, your school system, your personality, how you manage your time .. and all.
After figuring out your learning style, it’s time for the first step : MOTIVATION . I can hear some of you saying that motivation doesn’t matter, and what’s matter is discipline, and I totally agree with that, but I think that in order to build a discipline/ habit we need a push of motivation to start. ( I can recommend you the videos that motivates me the most).
****How to get motivation ? ****
1- Audios / videos/ music ( there are plenty of them online and for free)
2- Quotes. I definitely recommend putting motivational quotes in every sight-reachable place.
3- Pick a paper ( until finishing this post, you’ll need a lot of papers HHHHHH) and write all the reasons why you’re doing this, why your studying?
Personally : my school year starts on 15/9 and ends on mid June. It’s gonna be a long year since I’ll have exams on June based on what I studied from September to May. So I wrote on papers 260 quotes ( one for each day). If you want to try it, you can do that on sticky notes, or just simple papers(if you want it coloured, print some themed backgrounds and write on them)
Now you’re motivated and all, take a paper and divide it to :
1- Write all the subjects you take at school, class them from your weakest to the strongest subject.
2- How many hours you can study daily? ( on week days / weekends / holidays.. ) , here it’s better to underestimate than saying I can study 6 hours a day then doing nothing.
3- The largest part. Divide the hours estimated for each day in a way that you give your weakest subjects more time to work on ( having strong subject doesn’t mean ignoring them, give them time to).
4- Now in a little column, write why things are not going well: is the problem YOU? Are you the only one stopping yourself from being excellent? ( i’m asking these questions, because I WAS) or is it something else? Parents? Friends ? relationships? Mental health issues? ( try to talk with someone about your issues or see a pro) [sorry, I’m not a professional advice giver and I don’t have the solutions for all of these problems, I had one problem and it was related to me and my way of thinking and I changed it myself, please talk with someone who’s struggling with the same things as you, and I hope you’re all going well and doing good] .
Let’s move to the practical tips :

I don’t know another languages, but whatever language you speak, DO IT. how to plan? You’ll need the paper where you wrote the subjects and the time for each one. Get a planner, start a bullet journal, get some printables online, create those printables yourself with Microsoft, or just simple USE A PAPER. You can plan for a day, or for a week, for a month, or the whole year. I recommend doing weeklies at the beginning of each month , filling each day with your regular activities, important days or tasks ( that you already know) , and then every time that you have something new, add it on its day. when to plan? As I said plan monthly, then weekly, then daily, and every night before going to bed check what you need to do for tomorrow ( it will helps you get out of bed next morning)
· Don’t overestimate what you can do. It’s okay to admit that you’re not a super human and you won’t be able to sleep for 8 hours go to school for 6hours , socialize , eat well , exercices and then study for 6 hours. If you can do that, congratulations , but you’re damaging your brain.
· When planning and you have a history project don’t just write ° History instead write : - brainstorming : searching for ideas - organizing those ideas - plan your project : I.1.a / I.1.b … - finding an appropriate related video - organizing all information + adding animation ( if it’s on powepoint) - making sure you have copies of it ( it happened to me a lot that I finish a project than lose it because of a click) and you can apply this not only to projects but to all kind of activities like cleaning : wardrobe – kitchen – bath.. first you will feel satisfied ticking a lot of tasks, and second if you didn’t finish all the under-task , it will be a task in progress not an uncompleted task.
· Start your day with checking your planner and doing a to-do list to get a general look on your day. Write next to each task how much time it will take, so that you know what to prioritize
· Try waking up early , it’ll boost your energy and if you’re best concentrating on morning wake up earlier and benefit of morning , I do this personally but make sure in this case to get to bed earlier too.
· For your homework, write any homework you get down. I used to say I’ll remember it, then come next session and figure out that I had 12 math exercices. If you have blank hours between classes, use it to get your homework done , so that when you get home you’ll only focus on revising, summarizing.. getting ahead in class. start with doing the homework for your least favourite class or your weakest ones or the ones that take too much time. Do it as soon as it’s given to you, so that you get it out of the way.
· Think of installing blocker for distracting sites, whether it’s on phone or computer.
· Related to the previous one, limit your social media time, it won’t matter if you missed out news like your cousin bought a new car or that your friend from primary school is in Amsterdam, you can go back after studying and know all those unnecessary news.
· Get rid of electronics if you don’t need them.
· If you’re working on a project, collect all what you need from internet them disconnect. Otherwise, you’ll probably gonna see a pic of a cute cat and you’ll click on the link and you’ll find yourself after 3 hours watching videos of a turtle carrying a cat on his back ( I do this.).
· Set a clean and minimalist study space, and bring all what you need for that study session from the beginning to avoid distraction.
· I’ll also recommend changing studying space often ( if that works for you), because scientifically every time we move around we force the brain to form new associations with the same material so it becomes a stronger memory.
· If you can do it now then DO IT. There’s an Arabic proverb that goes: لا تؤجل عمل اليوم إلى الغد، فإن للغد عملا آخر. (Do not postpone today's work to tomorrow, for tomorrow has its own work) [see the first pic]
· In class sit at the front : - I do this because I get distracted easily by my friends , plus i’m short-sighted. - you’ll hear the teacher better, also the teachers always answer for front-students questions because they look more serious than questions of someone sitting at the back.
· ASK. Don’t be shy. There’s nothing wrong with asking, even if you sounded stupid, better sounding stupid in class, then being stupid in the exam. Profit from every chance to ask. Ask your teachers, classmates, google, parents, teachers that aren’t really your teachers (I don’t think they’ll ignore you). If you’re toooo shy to ask in front of classmate, wait for the end of the session, and go to the teacher.
· While revising, put a mark, or highlight what you need to ask for, and actually ASK FOR IT. I used to just highlight questions that I didn’t understood and never asking, and guess what, one time on a Physics exam, while redoing old exams of my teacher I found so many hard questions, I said he gave them before, he’ll never give them another time. He actually did. J
· After school routine: i take train to go back home, my way back home lasts 40mn. 1st I do when coming back is studying, because my brain is still in the mood to study ( when I’m extremely tired physically or emotionally , I take a nap. Health and Mental wellness have more priority then Studying for me).
· when I go back to home, I don’t change clothes to stay in the sensation of being in school. Plus home’s cloths are comfortable but make you feel lazy. ( at least for me) . if you feel comfortable with home’s clothes and still be productive, change.
· EAT WELL. I can recommend some good food for your brain : Omega 3 & fattyacids (eggs/ fishes : salmon- sardines .. ) – caffeine ( coffe-/ tea) in moderate consumption- Curcumin ( improves memory and boosts serotonin and dopamine which improves mood, it also helps new brain cells grown) – vitamin K( broccoli) – pumpkin seeds- oranges- dark chocolate .. also STAY HYDRATED : it improves concentration and cognition, helps balancing mood and emotions, reduce stress, increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain and maintains memory function. Just TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. ( if exercising works for you, do it. I didn’t personally try that, I’ll just start exercising this year because one of my final exam on June is Physical Education, and it’s all practical)
· Revisit older work on a regular basis to keep it familiar so that it will be stored in long term memory. And revise often.
· This is how I do for revising sessions : I keep track of the review dates of each chapter : - 1st R : 2 days after taking it in class - 2nd R : 3 days after 1st R -3rd R : 7 days after 2nd R -4th R : 21 days after 3rd R - 5th R : 30 days after 4th R - 6th R : 45 days after 5th R - 7 th R : 60 days after 6th R with this system I’ll be able on June to remember what I learned on October.
· Also, everytime you review, test yourself.
· Divise the revision sessions in bloc of 20 to 50 mn, then take a rest, to give time to your brain to analyse to the new information. And every time increase the time.
· Learn the same information in different ways : - rewrite it in your way - mind maps - explain it to someone else - youtube videos - class notes - others resources : your friends notes, if you have this in your country Para-scholar books (books made by other teachers –not by the government- where you can find notes, summaries, exercises with correction )
· When revising, make a list of possible questions. Make quizzes. If it’s literary subject ( languages) , do a list of possible writings topics). For math, re-do the exercises given by teacher (the exam will probably look alike, since it’s the same person making the exam). If it’s a national exam ( my case), do the exercises given in the end of every chapter ( since it’s the same government giving the exam).
· Make mnemonic* to facilitate learning new information. Link the information with a crazy story. (- Mnemonic = cutiing something down into an acronym, rhythm, word or phrase, to help remembering it).
· Read information out loud: you’re mentally storing it in two ways : seeing and hearing it.
· Talk to yourself , imagine you’re explaining it to someone else. Move while reading your notes. I don’t know why but It works for me.
· In one sitting just focus on one topic. But don’t stick to the same topic for the whole day, or the whole after-school, your brain will feel that he’s not learning something new, and he’ll stop accepting new information.
· Don’t memorize in one sitting rather break up the info into small chunks and review them consistently over a long period of time.
· Before every exam make a checklist of things you need to know. It will help you get an overview of the material.
· Start studying for an exam earlier, you’ll have more time in case you stuck on some points. Also you don’t know what can happen, you could get sick or an emergency ruins your plans.
· Work on your psychic state. If you have toxic relations, get them out of your life. You need all your brain capacity, you can’t just waste it on toxic things. If you feel like needing help, ask for it.
· HELP YOUR FRIENDS. (if you’re not religious, ignore the rest of this point, and just do this because you’re a great human <3 , if you’re religious: I had a teacher that used to always say this to us : “Help each other because who only loves himself (selfish), God doesn’t love him”).
· DON’T BE SOO HARD ON YOURSELF. TAKE A DAY OFF IF YOU’VE DONE WELL ALL THE WEEK. I saw this on a youtube video: you can make a system of scoring for yourself , everytime you reach a score you’ll do something fun : go to the cinema, go on a train trip, go to the down town, or just lie in bed and watch your favourite movie. REWARD YOURSELF.

None of this matters. Yay me.
My Journal
I enjoy collaborating, helping others, bouncing ideas, having access to others, learning from others. It’s a recurring self-examination about the balance of outflow vs inflow. Historically, I volunteer and support others way more than vice versa.
Right now, I am doing free consulting for a friend’s business, for a niece’s business, and also volunteering at a photo gallery. I also support 2 nonprofit organizations. The time varies, which keeps the question, did you do too much for others?, as a moving target. My consciousness just can’t rest on a solid answer. Especially when the pleasure I get from the activities weighs in. Yes, I enjoy this and it’s easy for me to do, and for now, I am creating distinct value for others.
Meanwhile, there is me. And my art. My writing. My rest. My reading. My own damn marketing. I say “damn marketing” because i have such a complicated relationship with marketing. But I don’t want to get distracted as it’s a small part of the discussion here right now.
How do I want to allocate my time?
Am I getting ‘juice’ from other people’s projects to avoid the fear of not being successful if I apply myself to my own projects? What is this strange energetic gulf between doing for others and doing for myself?
It is so easy to look at others’ businesses and see a clear path. And then to see results. For myself, the list is so long, the list of possibilities and things I want to do, it is so long. And I’m having a hard time getting started. I am doing lots of things around the periphery. I am definitely preparing the space and place to make art. The memoir is not happening, though I get pieces and parts from these daily writing exercise. Sometimes I remember to copy paste into Scrivener, sometimes I’m in a hurry and I skip it. I worry in the back of my mind about lost words.
I’ve written over 40,000 words since starting 750words.com. That could have been a book! But it isn’t. And really, it’s silly to think every word should be saved and used for big points and big profits.
It seems so appealing to my left brain self to ‘JUST make a calendar and divy it all up with pre-set time slots and voila! Problem solved.’
But that disavows the importance of the energy in me, my work, my process. It works for a week or so then I take a trip, or get depressed, or have visitors, or, or or.
What if I just cut off the world some more? What if I budgeted myself more precisely and more selfishly? What if what if what if, my personality type just loves that question.
But me, I, I really don’t like the openendedness right now, in this moment. That feels like kid energy, critic easing her way in gently, to say, “Just do the damn work, dammit!”

Sure. Yeah. Today I am booked up - conf call with niece for 90 minutes, then time to eat, then finish the sewing projects I have open and splayed across the living room table.
So, maybe tomorrow.
My to do list just gets longer and longer. On the other hand, I’ve got nothing to lose. I’ll keep at it tomorrow. Right now, I’ve done my writing practice. Yay me. I learned cool stuff in the photo gallery today. Yay me. I’ve done my research for niece phone call. Yay me. I’ve gotten to have some collaboration energy and I am having solitary energy. Yay me.
I’ve learned about some actors who went 10 years without working. Jeezus!
For now, chop wood and carry water, Rox. It’s cool. Yay me.

It is really hard to trust the process and break out of all the many forms of hierarchical thinking. To live each day, each hour, each BREATH as if this is the only now. As if I don’t need to know what this thing we call the future holds. At its root, on its face, in its core, this idea is the most radical one I am aware of. Some days are easier than others. Today, I have followed the flow, had some regrets about spending an hour. On Twitter and reading news instead of writing, drawing, or reading. Clearly, I am still clinging to a hierarchical notion that some activities are better, more worthy, more important, than others.
I call bullshit on that. (Haha, for like the thousandth time.) Well, at least I did remember again. Yay me.

Age: 29
What she does: Davis founded NDNInspired, a reclamation of all things culturally appropriated, or “Indian-inspired.” The online store and Instagram are filled with positive, diverse, and inspirational portrayals of everyday indigenous life. It’s a space of radical self-love for Native users everywhere.
Was there a time in your life where you had to start over?
Yes! I’m actually going through it right now. I was recently accepted into our tribal colleges’ B.A. program for Business Administration. My entire educational background surrounded science and health.So, as a returning student now majoring in business, I’m finding that I have to start over. I’m entering a field and taking classes I know very little about. Yes, I did start two businesses, but there’s still so much I need to learn! I’m nervous, but I’m also very excited. It’s a new beginning; it’s a breath of fresh air that I’ve been wanting to take for a while now.
What are some important ways in which you take care of your creativity?
Prayer and self-care. Prayer is essential to me. When I pray, I feel my mental and physical strength is reinforced—my mind is clearer, guidance is given, and needs are met. I also know that when I pray, I am changed for the better. A praying me means a clear-minded, humbled, healthy, creative me.
What’s your advice to indigenous businesswomen trying to get their ideas off the ground?
The “idea phase” could be an emotional rollercoaster, sister. Let’s be real—new ideas mean new challenges. But you got this! No excuses; you have to start somewhere. Continue to work hard, but also remember to work smart. Don’t give up on your idea, but do wait for the right time. Save, save, save your money and put it toward the come up of your business. Have faith in yourself. Be brave. Be audacious. As an indigenous woman, your success will be inspiration for many other indigenous women out there. Let that motivate you.

What he does: Martinez has been a climate activist since he was 6 years old. He’s spoken at the U.N. multiple times and has collaborated with over 50 environmental organizations in his hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Martinez is one of the 21 plaintiffs suing the federal government and Donald Trump’s administration for failing to protect younger generations from climate change. When he’s not traveling the world and organizing communities as the Youth Director of environmental conversation organization Earth Guardians, he makes music.
Besides creating music, how else do you practice self care?
[My work] is pretty heavy. I’m on the go a lot. I like to hang out and get in trouble and spend time with my homies. I love to be outside—in the ocean surfing, in the mountains skiing and snowboarding, finding water to jump in, playing sports like soccer and ultimate frisbee. I love to be active and be with people that I love, to be surrounded with good people and have good conversations that push the limits of what I think is possible.
As an activist and musician, what does renewal mean to you?
Renewal is the opportunity to take mistakes and things from the past that haven’t worked but that we can learn from and integrate that into the foundation of who we want to be and the things that we want to create. Renewal in the sense of my activism is taking the broken parts of this world that we’re living in and using that as a foundation to build our future. As a person and as an artist, it’s taking everything that I was, the person that I am, and the mistakes that I’ve made and allowing that to be my learning platform where I can become a better person.
Any advice for people starting a new chapter in their life?
Life’s too short to not do what makes you happy. Whatever it is you’re putting your time and energy into, make sure it makes you happy, make sure it’s sustainable, make sure to take care of yourself. Whatever it is that you’re doing and are passionate about, you can use that to make waves in the world and tell an important story to help people. We forget how powerful we are as people and how much influence we actually have and how much potential we have to make change and create the world we dream of. Manifest, work hard for it, and fight for what you believe in—never let that go.

What does rebirth mean to you?
I think it takes a lot of courage to start over. It’s a process that feels really scary at first, but the more that you do it, the more you benefit from it. I think taking a look back and realizing what you didn’t like or what you want to change and then actually going through with it, that’s a rebirth. It’s a really beneficial thing.
Was there ever a time in your life where you had to reinvent yourself?
I actually cut all my hair off in high school. I was going through a time where I was discovering my indigenous identity and I understood how important my hair was. I realized that I had been sort of detached from that—I had been dyeing it and cutting it and dyeing it and cutting it. I wanted to have a fresh start. So I cut it all off. It’s really hard to feel feminine when you have no hair. And I’m not a tomboyish person—I really enjoy femininity and expressing that. So, having no hair, I had to think differently about what it means to be feminine. That was a really transformative experience. I’m just now coming out of it. I feel a lot more confident coming out of it because I had to get used to seeing just my face. My face was really round—I lost a lot of weight. I was like, okay, I can see myself for what I am. I need to eat healthier and exercise.
Any advice for young indigenous YouTubers?
The only way you can fail is to stop making videos. Keep going and rolling with the punches. If you get hate, just stay authentic to whatever it is that you want to talk about; you’ll be fine.

As of five pm today, everything is pretty much under lockdown of some sort. They keep calling it shelter in place but I’ve been that’s always been reserved for active shooter. I’ve been through enough drills at work sitting underneath my desk with the lights off to know. This for me doesn’t actually change much from my normal routine. Everybody knows I’ve been distant socially for quite some time. Some might even say I’ve been begging for it. The slow halt of not dealing with stolen packages or neighbors complaining about the heat is relaxing. I spent most of the week filling up my messenger bag like I always do. Just like a scavenger. I don’t own a car. It was pretty much stolen from me by my ex. I don’t look back on any of it. I just know where I am now. I spent my day off arranging my office space in my kitchen to be as neutral as possible. So my laptop camera faces my windows overlooking the train. Which is also still running and always has been my main form of transportation. I walk a lot. I’d ride my bike but my front tire is now flat. I still run. Somebody posted some snarky picture of people still running in Central Park out in New York. It is okay to be outside by yourself. I think there’s a lot of disinformation from all sides about what is to be done. America is a shit show like that but a large reason why we enjoy so much freedom. How I deal with loneliness during this period is a whole other level. I see people getting on camera, almost like Tom Hanks on that island. I’ve been there. I found writing to be the most satisfying catharsis during times of extreme loneliness. Physical connections haven’t always been so rewarding. People can only impress you as much as they’re capable of understanding your expectations. I don’t have many expectations for society lately. Which is why my own private space is a bit more rewarding during times like these. I’ve organized my vinyl. I exercise in the back room. Nike Training Club premium is free for the time being so there’s a lot of new workouts to explore. My cat is a god send. She’s very smart and has a lot of personality. And here I am alone on the internet like I always am. A little less depressing for the record. A little more in line with the times than most. A darker future than I expected. But one that isn’t very hard for me to soldier through physically alone. Sans my cat and the nighthawk router that looks on track for arrival despite the lockdown officially hits at five.
I don’t think anybody needs anything deep from me right now. I am ok. I was at work all last week. Some of my friends work for the messenger industry so they’re all in right now. I work in IT. I told someone that this kind of thing is my bread and butter. We’ve had remote employees stationed in the ether for years. I’ve been supporting remote and distance learning for a couple of years as well. My initial freakout was that people wouldn’t understand this kind of closure. But people in Chicago have really pulled together to be creative in dealing with these problems. I just have to be supportive. I am inexplicably a more front facing person than virtual. I stopped making these videos of me talking about shoes. I was only making those to show people I was still alive and had a decent headshot. Not that I’m an actor. I think after February I became convinced it’s not about that. It was subtle just like everything in my life. When crisis hits and you are just sitting there like you usually do it’s a bit of a shock. I can’t say that I am in shock. I can say that I am simply existing. I have no emotions towards much of anything right now outside of what feels intimate to me. People are much more afraid than I would be. Maybe I have reason to be afraid but I don’t have the luxury like many other people. I still see people riding the train to work. Arranging expensive salads for people with money shuttered in their condo. I worry about people not having enough to fulfill basic needs. The real truth is people have been not having enough even before the plague hit. You can see it plain as day on the streets of Chicago right now. Downtown is filled with the homeless. It has always been filled with the homeless. One thousand dollar checks are appearing out of nowhere for every American. I just gave ten dollars to the blind man huddled by the ATM the other day. Meanwhile people are organizing Bon Jovi sing a longs with their neighbors. It’s a fucked up thing to see without blinders. My political filter has all but diminished over the last few years. I don’t really side with any political party. Every politician I know got there on a safe padding of millions of dollars. The message is pretty simple. Money can change the world and often does. And the world still finds a way to fuck you over. This time it’s viral. And it is a scary reality to think about and have to face. Many of us have not faced this kind of crisis of mortality on such a large scale. China already has. Things do go back to normal once the curve is flattened. The truth is for the next two weeks my life is a little less stressful in a lot of respects. Nobody wants to be following me around. Everybody wants six feet between them at all times. I’ve been asking that for years. Now my wish is granted. Thank you Wishmaster. I think.
I think being alone is a great gift. They say you are born alone and die alone. I don’t know if I’m that goth to believe that totally. But being alone is kind of like being at neutral. If you work on yourself enough, being alone can be much more satisfying than being around people with lower standards for themselves. I distanced myself three years ago when I quit drinking. I can’t find toilet paper to save my life but the liquor section at the grocery store is fully stocked. That doesn’t really help my ass. I used to drink alone often. It is such a horror show to reflect on. I couldn’t be comfortable with my own thoughts. I know in retrospect it wasn’t my thoughts. It was my inner self desperately trying to motivate me to be something better. My inner self spent a lot of time after getting to a balanced state lashing out at the rest of the world. The last three months I’ve been so full of hate and vitriol at what the world has already put me through. Was it all just some big test? If it was it feels like I passed. And yet the reality is still out there. How much longer will this go on? For us two weeks. For the school systems through the 20th of April. For my jury summons on April sixth we will see. I’ve been all over the world at this point. Korea, Japan, China, New Zealand, New York and what have you. After all this it is nice to say that when the world breaks, I can still play it safe in my kitchen. My house is empty but spacious. It’s the first time in awhile where every room is being utilized. I’ve organized my things over the last two years that it breathes. Between plumes of smoke outside of office hours. It’s kind of a mind fuck to have to work from it officially when I’ve been on call the entire year. Answering emergency calls from my kitchen while I cook dinner. That part I’m not really worried about. Not having to commute twenty minutes for a couple of weeks isn’t rough. I’ve worked out my own supply chains despite subterfuge and targeting. Emerging from this for me won’t be much of anything at all. And the thought does haunt me that everything will turn back to normal and I will be forgotten once again. For the record I don’t feel that way right now. I feel relived that I can finally be in my own element. My sanity is online one hundred percent. So is my Diablo 3 Season Twenty character. Entry 8
She’s gone. All is lost. I am in the pit of despair. What started as a simple formula designed for the convenience of mankind, has ended in suffering. She used it to teleport, and to everyone’s surprise, she was successful…well, so it would seem. But the formula was still incomplete! She disappeared and has not come back. Her mother is distraught with grief. I am empty inside except when it comes to comforting my wife.
Entry 9
I died. It took 60 years after that incident, but it finally happened. How am I writing this? It’s a curious thing, what you can do with enough determination. I won’t say “will to live” because I think I lost that a long time ago, save for the hope that my daughter is out there, somewhere. My wife is no more. I believe she has found peace, or at least acceptance. I linger because I am restless. She is out there, in time or space…I do not know, but I feel it in my bones…This is funny because it appears that I am now some sort of living skeleton…well I guess not much has changed. My hair left me several years before I died, so the only real difference is the lack of skin and organs. There goes my dream of playing in church…I wonder if all skeletons are this humorous. ..I have to stop, but I can’t. Despite everything, life is funnier when you’re dead.
I arose underground, literally the place is called “the underground.” the folks down here are not much for naming. At first I thought I was in some version of the underworld or purgatory. Well, it is and it isn’t. After some investigating, I discovered it is not a form of afterlife, but a sort of subterranean chamber where monsters were banished long ago, nearly a millennia, in fact. I found myself here, because apparently, as a skeleton, I am one of them now. I’m not the only one either. There are others like me who have found themselves down here for one reason or another.
They call me by a new name, since it’s some sort of tradition to call skeletons by the way they talk. Apparently I am “Wingding Aster.” I tried introducing myself to some other monsters but all they got out of it was “g Aster” so now, everyone calls me that. I seem to talk in a way that is difficult for others to understand? I didn’t think my accent was that bad? In any case, I’ve taken to using sign language, and that seems to work better. A surprising number of monsters are quite fluent in it. Makes sense since there are a number who are incapable of vocal speech. I’m glad I learned it young.
There are other skeletons that are born in to this life: small baby skeletons that steadily grow and change. I’ve never imagined anything like it. Watching them reminds me of my little girl, and I wonder if I’ll see her again, and what form she’ll take. The old woman she should be? A skeleton like me? Or, hope against hope, she was lost in time, and one day, she’ll appear in front of me exactly the same as the day she left. But that is too good to be true. For one, how would she even get here? Whatever the case, I can feel she’s out there somewhere. I know she’ll find me one way or another.
Entry 10
I never imagined I would love again, but there it is. My heart may be colorless and upside down, but it is still somehow capable of making me feel this way. What did I do to deserve to get lucky twice? Miss Harrington is a skeletal wonder to behold. I swear, she’s just like my Harriett, and at the same time, she is entirely different. For one, she loves boats, where Harriet was always sea sick. They both like biology, but Harriett always loved the flora, whereas Harrington is fascinated with fauna. Little things, little clues that show me they are not the same. Yet I love them both. I think I will propose to her, when the moment is right. All should go well, as long as I don’t call her Harriet.
Entry 11
I called her Harriet and she said yes anyway! At First she was jealous, but when I explained, she became sweet and accepted my proposal! We were married in the castle by the king himself (who turns out to be a lovable fuzzy pushover.) We got to talking and he set me up with a great job as the royal scientist, can you believe it! He said it was so I could support the children to come! O///O I’m not even sure how skeletons have children. It’s silly, but I’ve been too embarrassed to ask anyone. I’ll ask my new wife on our honeymoon…I’m not sure how that will go either, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t eager to find out.
Entry 12
A beautiful baby boy has graced our lives! It all happened so fast and here he is! Ah. To hold a child in my arms once more! Gracious, how I missed it so! I wonder how Trish will react when she finds out she’s a sister! Little baby Comic Sans! Don’t ask me how I know if he hasn’t said a word yet, it’s some sort of skeletal instinct. Its incredible the things I learn about my new existence. Do you know, we made him out of magic and just a little piece of each of us? My wife donated a back molar, I donated a bit of my right hand(I lost my teeth in my past life and it didn’t feel right to do anything else.) I was able to just remove a little circle of my matter with magic and place it next to her tooth. It was oddly painless. In the past, I would have never believed it, as scientific as I was. But here I am, a being made of magic, and just a little dust, and so is my wife, and so is our child. We just charged up our energy and zap there he was!
Of course it took quite the toll on both of us, we’ll both have to take off work for weeks, maybe months. Though, I must say, I like how both partners have to put forth effort for new life to be created, really gives you a sense of pride and responsibility. Of course, I felt that with Trish, but with little Comic, it’s a whole new depth. I really feel like part of my soul went into him and is no longer mine, but his forever. And indeed, it may not be metaphorical, but actual. I’m still not sure how this monster stuff works. I would like to try it one more time, either another girl or another boy, doesn’t matter. But it will be a while. This one exhausted us, and if experience serves, it may be a good idea to wait until comic is old enough to handle himself a bit. 9 or 10 sounds good. I’ll talk to Harrington about it. In any case, it would be nice to even out my hands.
Entry 13
Comic is showing incredible mental development. Comparable to Trish. They will both surpass me, if Trish hasn’t already. Comic certainly will. Physically however…he likes his naps. I don’t know what is normal for skeleton children, but Trish didn’t nap half as much. He’s also rather small for his age, I think. I can’t tell. Trish grew so fast, was it because she was a human, a girl, both, some other factor? I keep urging him to eat healthy, but he keeps begging for fast-food. Half the time I think he just wants the ketchup that comes with it. I don’t know what it is with that boy and ketchup. His mom says it’s just a phase, but I’m not sure.
Entry 14
We’ve done it again! Another gorgeous baby boy. His name is Papyrus! He’s such a sweetheart! Everyone who meets him loves him instantly. I was worried for a moment if the brothers might have a rivalry, but no such thing. Comic absolutely adores his younger brother. I get the feeling he would protect him to the ends of the earth. I’m such a lucky father.

Sacred self care

Self care is sacred. Your body is sacred. Caring for it is a sacred and spiritual practice! I’m yelling these words to myself as I type them. Generally, I’m really good at self care. Last month, though, I guess I was lax with it and a respiratory infection snuck up and bit me. I was sick for maybe 2 weeks or so and then well again for only 2 weeks or so and now I have a cold.
I’m mad at myself for it. I knew I’ve been stressed out and instead of doing anything about it, I mulled in it. Pushed my limits and fought against life and the universe instead of giving in to where it was pulling me. I neglected my self care and now I’m paying the price for it.
But it’s not only me who’s paying the price. My children don’t have their mom at full power. I don’t have the energy to play with them, my patience is short fused, I have no drive to cook or keep up with the house work like I normally would. My husband suffers because he has to pick up my slack.
When we fail to prioritise ourselves, everyone around us suffers because they’re not getting the best of us. And it’s ok to not be at your best all of the time. It’s ok to have these days and take the rest when you need it. As long as you don’t fall into the hole of chronic self carelessness.
If we don’t voluntarily give ourselves time and space for upkeep, our body and the universe will take it themselves. In the form of sickness.
I intend that what serves my highest good is amplified and what doesn’t falls away. I intend that my relationships are a source of pure love for all involved. I intend that My family and self are protected from all negative energies in all forms.

Eat correctly
You are what you eat, right? You never truly know how bad you feel until you start to eat correctly and lo and behold, you’re feeling great.
I literally use to think that your stomach hurting at some point, in some way, at least once a day, EVERY DAY, was just part of being a girl. IT’S NOT.
Learning how to properly feed yourself isn’t an easy task. I’m not going to pretend it is. It’s been a long and ongoing struggle for me for a long long time and shows few signs of becoming easier. But it is doable. And it is worth it. And it gets better the more you work at it.
Learning how to eat properly is only hard because you’re not use to it. Chances are, you grew up eating quick, easy, grab and go, processed, what’s organic? Food for every meal like I did. There was little to no concept of “healthy eating” in my childhood household. And since healthy eating wasn’t what I grew up doing, I’ve had to learn on my own how to do it.
But that’s all it is. A learning curve. Just like anything else. Once you learn how to do it, it gets easier. I promise. Second nature even.

Make is Sacred
Eating is an intimate practice. The food is going into you and becoming one with you. This is the root of emotional eating. We do it in an effort to fill a hole within us.
Thank your food and all of the people and process that it passes through to reach your plate. Including mother earth.
Bless your food with good intentions for nourishing your body.
Cook your food with joy and positive energy. Vibrations seep out of us and into the food as we cook. Make sure they’re nourishing.
Add seasonings with intentions. “Rosemary for abundance” “Turmeric for good health” You can find meanings online to seasonings and food but you can also just make stuff up. It’s fine.
Chew slowly and notice the tastes, textures and subtleties of every bite.
Dine with loved ones, put away electronics and enjoy each others company while you eat together.
Stress Management
This is the part that gets me most of the time. I’m pretty adement about eating right because I can’t stand to feel like crap when I don’t. But I let my stress get away from me sometimes. I get so caught up in my work that if I haven’t had time to write, NOTHING. ELSE. MATTERS.
And that’s not good of me.
I’m a mom of 2 very small children so sometimes I’m not going to have time to work. Sometimes things are going to happen like teething at the same time you start night weaning and before you know it 4 days have gone by and no one’s slept more than 3 hours. It happens. Life happens. I have to be, we have to be more flexible with our time management and priorities.
Work needs to be done. I get it. Trust me, I do. But it shouldn’t come at the exspense of your health. Because then, when you’re sick, even more work is not going to be getting done.
Spend time in nature
Commit to a regular exercise practice
Meditate regularly
Get a massage with essential oils and soft music
Take a detoxing Epsom salt bath with crystals, candles, herbs. music and essential oils. Really go all out. You deserve it.

There are a hundred little things every day to add to your routine that constitute self care. They range from obvious things like brushing your teeth to not so obvious things like deep breathing.
You don’t have to do every single self care thing every single day, but routinely to some degree is great. The more you physically love your body, the more you’ll begin to emotionally and spiritually love it as well.

Not entry, just an update/ramble.
I’ve been doing well on my new healthy life style for a good 10 months now. I’m so proud of myself not only for losing 30 pounds, but for sticking to this lifestyle and constantly making necessary changes. It’s been a struggle trying to keep it realistic and not be so restrictive and only restrictive when it’s necessary due to my addictive personality. Each day I learn something new about myself. For example I’ve really missed candy and I had skittles for the first time last month since a year ago. I felt pretty guilty after eating them, even though I’ve worked on not beating myself up when I want a reasonably portion sized treat. I realized it wasn’t that I was afraid of the food messing up my diet, it was the sugar and how it made me feel gross. So I went to the health food store and found some “organic sour sugar licorice” I’m not sure the ingredient difference in these candies compares to regular candy and I’m aware that just because this candy is “organic” it’s not healthy and to be eaten all the time, however I noticed it didn’t give me a sugar rush and make me feel like crap 3 hours later. I think there’s certain ingredients or too much sugar that worsens my anxiety and depression. I’ve done little research on this, but I’ve heard what you eat can affect your disorder. I find this to be true as I feel more in control of my anxiety compared to a year ago.
I’m in the midst of making some more changes to what I’ve been eating. Every few months I begin to get bored of what I’m eating and I have to go on the hunt for new recipes, snacks and meals. This is probably the number one reason why I’ve been able to stick to this. Besides my consistent routine in exercising 3-4 times a week, I also change up constantly what I do at the gym. One thing I’ve realized is that I DESPISE workout videos. I live in a small home with not a lot of space which makes moving furniture around so I can workout inconvenient and also the fact that I don’t have someone there to help my form and etc. Having a personal trainer since last summer has helped a lot as well, not only in helping me during my workouts but also keeping me mentally motivated and telling me about some classes I should try out. I have yet to stick to a workout class (spin, kickboxing etc) I only did a kickboxing class once because I was a guest at my friends gym, but other than that I seem to like working out on my own and then along with my personal trainer better than being in a classroom. Maybe if I find myself slipping up, or really getting bored of my own workout routine at the gym, I’ll join a class. I have a hard time showing up on time, it’s a miracle I can even make my personal training, but that’s only because I get charged if I cancel at the last minute (which also motivates me to get my ass up and go in the morning hahaha). Sometimes I show up 5 min late to personal training which my trainer hates, but I don’t beat myself up over it because I’m just proud that I’ve bene sticking to this and going early mornings. A year ago I wouldn’t have even bothered. Just because I have a bad habit of being habitually late to EVERYTHING, doesn’t mean I’m going to let it stop me from doing things that better my life, even if it means getting yelled at and being given a harder workout as punishment haha.
Life is such! The world doesn’t stop moving, sometimes we make the same mistakes until we decide to change. I’m glad I decided to change my eating habits and life style habits. Maybe one day I’ll decide to be habitually early to everything instead of sleeping an extra 5 min or just fooling around or not wanting to be social and being late because of one of those 3 reasons haha I’m such a jerk! Oh well.
