A small frown dances on Nico’s lips as he looks from the droid manual over his knees to the switchboard in front of his face. His master had deemed it appropriate that he have a droid for himself, just like the astromech R2-D2 had been built by and served his master. In theory it makes sense. Nico can see how the practice of carefully piecing together machinery, finding just the place where each thing fits, would be helpful for focusing the mind and becoming more in tune with the Force, but Nico hasn’t had much skill in machine crafting, and his skills with the Force tend to lie more in the realm of the organic.

R2 whistles encouragement from the corner of the room and Nico grunts his acknowledgement back. “I think the manual writers intentionally write this in the most complicated way possible,” he grumbles.

Hands reach into his view, tapping at a particular area of the schematic before reaching over to provide him the requisite tool. Looking up, Nico spots the obvious smile in his master’s eyes. “Oh,” he mutters before taking the tool.

fox’s best friend (that he’ll admit to having) is a mouse droid called honk!. he found honk! in the back of the corrie crying cupboard, wheels jammed with crud, and put the droid back together while complaining about a senator’s treatment of one of his shinies and his inability to act. fox buffed honk!’s chassis with the cuff on his flightsuit and set it back into the hallway when he left.

honk! maybe trips the senator at the top of some stairs a few days later. maybe getting away with this starts it in a path of vengeance. impossible to say. no witnesses.

sometimes honk! appears in fox’s office with some sweets tucked into its body, pilfered from senator offices. sometimes fox carries honk! under his arm like a tired puppy, its wheels whirring, and ignores the way thorn goes soft around the visor. he’s helping out a fellow worker. nothing to see here!

maybe honk! gets a security upgrade or two. maybe it gets a stripe in corrie red. maybe it tugs chancellor palpatine’s robes at an in opportune moment and he breaks his neck in a terrible escalator accident. who knows!!

Thinking about how, at the end of the day, at the fatal moment, the sunset of the Republic, it wasn’t Yoda, or Obi-Wan, or even the Chosen One himself standing in the way of Palpatine. It was Mace Windu.

Mace Windu, the inventor of Vaapad and Master of Form VII, the Jedi's strongest duelist, the only person to ever defeat Palpatine in combat. Mace Windu, Master of the Jedi Council and the youngest Master ever appointed to it, the revered leader of the Order. Mace Windu, who forgave even those who tried to kill him, who risked his life over and over again for his troops, who, after 3 years of desperate war, tried to negotiate with battle droids. Mace Windu, who knew the clones were created by the Sith and chose to trust them, who saw every Shatterpoint in the Republic, and loved it still, and fought for it until his last breath, until he was betrayed by Anakin, who he believed in and trusted despite everything.

Mace Windu, High General and hero of the Republic, the embodiment of the Light, the last and greatest champion of the Order, the best Jedi to ever live.

This one was for my partner! He asked this little scene from an AU we have.

Very short context for this particular scene: Anakin survives ROTJ to b come the most bonkers dad and then grandpa ever, which means the whole Sequels timeline gets a bit to the left (or more like a 180° shift), Rose builds what's basically an UFO and, accidentally, it's so dangerous and intuitive that only a force sensitive can fly it.

Luke, like usually, is pretty much amused. Poe and Ben are...confused.

In the hours Crosshair spent carrying Mayday back to base...

Do you think Mayday's leadership skills and concern for his team reminded Crosshair just a little bit of Hunter?

Do you think Crosshair thought at all about the fact that Hunter and his other brothers had carried him off Kamino when his life was in danger after the Empire had left him behind, even after he had just held them hostage and tried to shoot Hunter with a rifle that was not set to stun?

Do you think Hunter's warning, "All you'll ever be to them is a number," went through his mind when Nolan did nothing to help Mayday and then berated Crosshair?

Do you think Crosshair maybe realized why Hunter being able to say "I did what I thought was right!" might be preferable to saying "We're soldiers, we do what needs to be done"?

...And then do you realize you're thinking way too much about "The Outpost" and it's making you really sad so you need to find something happy to watch?
