I was asked by several people to elaborate on why I thought people hated Essek and specifically treated him as some spontaneous disruption rather than a choice driven by cast members, and so here it is.
An overarching theme is this: Matt, the creator of Exandria and DM for Critical Role, created Essek. The entire cast of Critical Role likes him. Liam O'Brien, as Caleb, chose to romance him. Now, none of this prevents you from disliking him, but I think people pile their hate on Essek because they don't want to admit they are upset with choices the cast members have made. (For what it's worth, this is why I think it's healthy to be able to express that you are frustrated with a cast member's character choices or with developments in the campaign or creative choices generally, and treating expressions of dislike as taboo or worse, inherently problematic, ultimately makes for a far more toxic fandom than one in which people can comfortably say "I don't like this"). Essek is an NPC, and as the post that led me to write this up states, he is a character who represents Matt's narrative decisions and the cast's choices in Campaign 2. To be mad at him is to be mad at a puppet because for whatever reason you are unwilling to admit a dislike for what the puppeteer is doing.
Now: why Essek specifically?
People who shipped Caleb with Jester do this a lot. I'll admit to my own biases re the C2 ships but I do reject this being pure fanwank because people who shipped other Caleb ships and were still around in the late campaign either mostly acted like adults, or just kind of threw Essek into the mix. The thing really is that a lot of people who shipped Caleb and Jester are very big fans of Liam specifically, and Liam and Laura's dynamic, and are loathe to say that Liam decided not to have Caleb significantly pursue the relationship; that Laura chose to have Jester act utterly unaware of the relationship; and that Liam decided, instead of having Caleb pine endlessly, to pursue another potential romantic interest. I also suspect that some abuse of power in specific fandom spaces gave people false hope and inflamed resentment. A lot of these people also hate on Fjord but tend to be quieter about that because it's harder to pretend a PC isn't deeply tied to a cast member.
There is a subset of fans who treat mlm ships and wlw ships (or male and female characters) as locked in some kind of zero sum game in which the existence of one dims the light of the other. This is preposterous. I cannot imagine a more wretched and unhappy fandom experience than miserably tallying up fics and art and judging success not by quality and enjoyment of what content there is but rather whether there's more for your ship or more for other ships. I have joked that when my favorite character is popular I enjoy that they're popular, and when they're not, I enjoy that I clearly have refined and superior taste and I recommend others adopt this mentality. I also have half-joked that it would be fascinating to do a survey tallying the quantity of posts complaining about, say, Caleb and Essek's relationship someone has made, vs. how many posts they've made about (for example) Beau and Yasha's relationship, because a lot of the time the energy spent complaining, or worse, harassing others over their preferences could have addressed the problem had it instead been devoted to creating fanworks for your ship of choice.
Also very generally, while it's true that there's no shortage of annoying fans of Essek, I promise, there's no shortage of annoying and shitty fans of basically every character and ship including the ones you like.
For his appearance in Campaign 3 specifically, I think people are blaming Essek for the fact that this is the Chickens Coming Home to Roost, Avengers Assemble campaign. If you take issue with the characters of Bells Hells being overshadowed by those from past campaigns, the time to make that complaint was when Laudna and Orym showed up as PCs with strong ties to Delilah and Keyleth, or at the very least when Keyleth was brought in as a ringer to help resurrect Laudna (and, as someone who did make those complaints at the time and has since accepted this is the Past Campaigns Campaign...this has not been the case). Multiple party members (as played by cast members) expressed interest and excitement in Aeor before Essek (even as Seth) was mentioned. Bells Hells (as played by the Critical Role cast) want to go to Aeor. You do not have to like it, but this is not Essek's fault, as he is an NPC as part of the story driven by the cast's choices.
I've said this before but it bears nonstop repeating: when the CR cast says it's their table, it does not mean "it's their table and above criticism." It means "they are making the choices they make to play a game that they will enjoy." You can and should say that you're not enjoying it. It won't change what they do, but you'll feel better. But Essek isn't a real person with real agency. If his appearance is upsetting you, you need to attribute that to Matt's choices and decide if this campaign is still something you wish to watch and if this fandom is still something in which you wish to participate. Acting like Essek is some kind of horrible natural disaster ruining your lovely picnic and not a very deliberate choice by Matt is a transparently absurd denial of reality.

Sorry for the mini-essay but I think people massively underestimate how much hard work and dedication goes into a Passion Project. People think that creators who make free content, who do their work as a hobby and not as a job, must only get enjoyment out of it.
That’s not how it works. Doing it purely because you want to doesn’t automatically make the more challenging, frustrating, or (gasps) TIME CONSUMING parts of the project any less burdensome. If anything, it makes it worse because you aren’t being paid for all of that labor. You’re just doing it for the sake of doing it, and as rewarding as it can be, it can also be demanding.
Im finally publishing a fanfic for the first time and don’t get me wrong, it’s been great to get feedback on my work and interact with a community. I love that there are usernames and profile pictures I can actually identify because they’re regulars on my work.
But does that mean I don’t have to constantly redo work because I don’t like how it turned out? No. Does that mean I always update on time? No. Never get burnout? No. I still very much go through all of the things paid writers do, because the Creative Process is difficult and demanding no matter what they paycheck is or isn’t.
And all of that is just if you guys WERE missing updates, which you’re NOT. So like… these complaints are not only very entitled and ignorant, but also just confusing. People really just be mad for the sake of being mad, I guess?
Anyways yeah, free content creators are still content creators, and passion-driven hard work is still hard work. You two are cranking out absolutely STUNNING visuals, compelling characters and engaging worldbuilding every single week and that’s amazing. Thank you for your hard work and I’m sorry about the twerps that don’t appreciate it enough!
Tumblr media
Ah the price we pay for being human and having a brain, amirite haha
It's to be expected, to a certain point, that people simply don't understand that things like comics and cartoons take time. General impatience is something that can be ignored. If people asking for updates bothered us, we wouldn't post anywhere ever haha You gotta have at least SOME backbone if you want to do a comic. Or anything really.
Comics are a TON of work, and I knew this going in cuz I've done shorter comics before. It is not to be treated as if its easy. (Well, its easier than animating a whole series by yourself LOL) There's a lot of pre-comic planning that people don't tell you about. And that's just the stuff you have to do before you even start drawing. Of course this only applies to long-form storytelling, there's different rules for different kinds of comics.
And I won't even get into what it takes to making the comic itself, there's a lot of parts that need to be considered like formatting, time-management, what shortcuts you have to take to save on labor, and getting across as much information as you can in a short amount of time, while using mostly visuals. It's a skill, so it can be learned haha
A lot of doing comics is on-the-job training. Which I know can be frustrating for perfectionists, but from a reader's perspective, part of the joy of webcomics is seeing how far the art has come. And you can't exactly get out a webcomic if you keep redoing things over and over. You'll burn yourself out even faster. This is why it's important to have a plan lol it just makes it easier to adjust if you have to change things, than if you have no plan at all.
Even if RJ and I for whatever reason no longer felt passionate about this story, and wanted to move on to something else entirely, we wouldn't leave everyone hanging. We'd tell everyone what happens one way or another. Because too many people just abandon a story just to tell another one, and that's not fair to people who were here to read a story that appealed to them.
But the entitlement of people sucks, the constant heckling, the fact we can't moderate our own comment section, and more importantly Webtoons just sucks as a site anyway. - Cat

The Forbidden Stacks of the library in TOH puts me in throes. The books inside aren't even preserved if a zombie mouse can have a full-on buffet with them (going slightly off the rails "echo mouse" is a stupid name for something that doesn't absorb sound, I refuse to call it that). What's the point? What other history is lost because you'll let zombie-mice into the section versus employees/volunteers that aren't just gonna float around for the sake of being spooky? Why are they even forbidden when the section is smack-dab in the middle of the library and access-cards are evidently universal, you're just working off an honor system that people won't abuse accessibility? I guess that explains the zombie-mice. Or was it just more important for the writers to have a quick set-up for Lumity no matter how horribly applied the rules are?
The Forbidden Stacks could EASILY be improved if the writers had Amity work the section as a kind of promotion since she already has access, I could see a full burst of character development if her role was to ensure no one gets access to Philip's journal by orders of Belos himself, make her question why the journal itself is forbidden and if blindly following Belos' regime is worth being left in the dark. It would as be GREAT Lumity fuel if both sides had to choose between pleasing the other or preserving their own goals.
Now I've put myself in throes on how quickly all that could be adjusted. A devil's advocate should have been hired for the writing team LMAO.
So the forbidden section of a library in most fantasy media is a pretty common trope. Harry Potter wasn't the first to have something like it and The Owl House won't be the last. But... Well, I actually never gave it that much thought because it very much so does the job of the trope, give characters a place they're not supposed to with clear intentions on forbidden knowledge, but... I think this post very easily explains why the vibe of The Owl House is wrong for a fantasy show. I talked about this in general as of late but let's interrogate your complaints. Not to say your complaints aren't valid but it's the sort of thing that as a content creator is important to do. When someone tells you they'd rather have seen X thing be done in Y way, what are they really asking for? Tears of the Kingdom's fuse mechanic is a great showing of this as it fixed the breakable weapons for a lot of people while still allowing weaponry and the like to be a reward for exploration and combat, something that just removing the system would have lost. Instead, they made it so you can personalize your arsenal and it's MUCH harder to end a fight with simply a worse inventory than when you began (amongst a BILLION other great things about the fuse mechanic).
So what are the complaints here? A lot of them are what most would consider nitpicks. A story is allowed contrivances so as to FUNCTION and that's where suspension of disbelief comes into play. Something about the forbidden section broke your suspension of disbelief though. What was it?
Well, looking at them, my personal conclusion would be simple: It doesn't feel forbidden. It has a huge ass door that dominates one of the libraries walls, it comes across from how it looks to be SEVERAL times larger than the base library seeing as the base library only has like two floors, and yeah, it's not exactly hard to reach. Lumity go in in BROAD DAYLIGHT. There are also no traps, no detection systems, or... Anything to stop someone who has slipped inside from doing as they please, including animals. Like... While Amity is being scolded, is there just NOTHING watching the forbidden knowledge and only a weak magical lock? That doesn't really give the feeling of it being forbidden, does it?
And this isn't a new problem for The Owl House. They'll present a fantasy trope and then so half ass it that it barely feels like the trope. In fact, just tropes in general, hence the common complaint that Lumity is NOT enemies to lovers despite the setup because they spend almost no time being enemies. That's discarded for what is necessary for the plot point of Lumity.
But some people might yell at me about the Shortening, despite this being S2A which probably got minimal changes due to how production works, so could this have been done better without significant time changes?
...Yes. By making them physically act like they're in a place they're not supposed to be. You don't even really have to change the substance of what the two are talking about (which is hardly about the forbidden section). The two spend almost all their time there just laying or standing around. They effectively seem to be just in a library with bad lighting judging by their actions, posture, etc. like that, not helped by the two mostly focusing on each other than anything to do with the library. This de-emphasizes the library and the danger which is VERY common in The Owl House and is part of why it's such a shit adventure show.
Tweak their tones of voice so that they sound more like they're trying not to focus on how they're breaking the rules. Make their conversation travel while Amity points at places on the floor or the wall and both respectively either avoid or seek out those places. You don't even need to really up the animation here except for having them move at all because you don't need to show the magic traps and the like so long as you get the vibe right.
Better yet, this movement could also allow for more environmental storytelling and foreshadowing. They could pass by archived creatures, kept their for study and school project purposes but too dangerous to have just anyone interacting with, and one cage is broken open. Or the lid is slipped off and a sleeping echo mouse is sleeping within it. That way, the mouse didn't just slip in, it probably broke out recently and you just have to suspend disbelief that it chose the journal for its first meal.
This isn't even only doable in animation. You could do this in writing and have their actions and the background be the flavor that's helping punctuate and break up the conversation. In writing though, that WOULD add time and admittedly part of what gives my stuff a more brisk feeling is that unless it's important, I let the background be filled in with a mood and by the reader much more than vivid description. TOH IS animated though so having the backgrounds and the like help with the storytelling, or even just the movements of the characters, is part of how you tell a story in animation.
And yes, animation is expensive. My counterpoint to that is The Ghost and Molly McGee exists and its animation very commonly blows TOH out of the water with how expressive, dynamic, bizarre and HOW MUCH OF IT there is except for TOH's big ticket fights. I cannot believe that they could not do a simple walking sequence with scrolling backgrounds instead of more anime inspired "Okay, stop, freeze, talk, go," moments, especially in order to actually sell the fact that they're in a fantasy story.
There are other, smaller things like making it a smaller, metal door that requires multiple keys to be opened that are kept in the office that Amity normally would need to check out but isn't so that Luz isn't known to go back there. Admittedly, you could also actually make the librarian scary and rude. Make him more serious as to explain why Amity didn't just talk to the librarian because I've talked before about how it trying to be 'clever' (with the same joke its done how many times even by then of "Oh, you're such a fool to think it was actually dangerous or spooky") kind of makes the episode make no sense in retrospect.
And, most importantly, none of these changes would require a lot of time in the episode. Maybe a little more, just to have Amity have a line about a pressure plate or the like, but not much. The real difference is partially the difference between Amphibia and The Owl House because when the sleepover episode happens, the ghosts aren't the only reason that the place feels forbidden. It feels forgotten and creepy and they walk and talk to help show this in the posture the characters, the tones of voice they have, stuff like that. Amphibia enjoys its genre and concepts though while The Owl House CONSTANTLY feels like it would really rather just be a slice of life school series and so doesn't care about the fantasy or adventure elements.
And, well, Looking Glass Ruins is a good episode to highlight that. They murder illusion magic, they make glyphs EXTREMELY OP in it in ways that make no sense and make you wonder why the whole cast isn't adopting them, magical amplification should still ABSOLUTELY affect illusion magic so as to make it bigger or more believable, etc. like that even if it doesn't have a physical effect, etc. like that. But instead, the magic is warped and twisted and simply used for a trope that probably could have been done without the magic.
But like making the forbidden section incredibly boring and mostly just a background more than anything else and an excuse to get Amity in trouble... It all just feels like justification to make the concept they wanted without having to put in the effort.
Without caring. And an audience can feel when a writer doesn't care about something.

about demigod polls ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi! as the bio says, this is a blog dedicated to forming creative (and hopefully thought-provoking) polls for the PJO fanbase! polls are usually character-focused, and I strongly encourage everyone to engage with the prompts authentically - instead of instantly going for your favorite character (it's completely fine if you do!), try to consider all of the options and vote for the one that makes the most sense to you!
this blog is currently not accepting poll submissions (but it will someday! see this post for more info), but the ask box is now open if you want to reach out for any other reason!
I also try my hardest to seek out artwork/writing from PJO creators that have under 600 notes and reblog them - so in the interest of spreading the love, I hope you guys share my pro-creator sentiments and like/reblog them often as well. fandoms are nothing without our wonderful creators. reblogging is one of the best ways to support them!
if you like, you can find me on my main blog @bayetea, but please read my pinned before following. and if you see me reblogging my artwork/writing here... I am a fandom creator as well ( ˶´ ᵕ `˶ )
please note that this blog is a friendly space for the fandom. you are highly encouraged to write as many paragraphs as you want in the tags/comments explaining your answers - lots of people read them! but character hate and ship hate is not tolerated at all. I don't give second chances - if you post unkind things, your comments will be deleted and your account will be blocked. your least favorite character/pairing may be someone else's favorite, so please be considerate and save it for your own blogs (yes, this applies to that one ship that "nobody" likes - if you are hating on it in my notifs, you will be blocked permanently.)
lastly, this blog unequivocally supports leah sava jeffries, black annabeth, and rick's casting decisions. anti-leah/anti-black annabeth rhetoric will be deleted and your account will be blocked. complaints about "book accuracy" are not welcome. again, save it for your own blogs. thank you.

Tumblr made that big long post and a lot of people are angry reacting to some like surprisingly reasonable suggestions that solve widespread long time  complaints
i dont know how they plan to solve everything just yet but as someone who knows some things about the industry and jargon here are my 2 cents
Here is a link to the referenced post
Principle 1: Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr
in an age where most social media sites are making it aesoteric and difficult to share posts offsite /app tumblr is considering making it easier to do
yall do you know how hard it is to link a long tumblr post with like a comic or funny string of replies to share with my friends who arent on tumblr? i have to take like 15 screenshots every time. IF staff is priorizing making it easier to share posts that would be so much better oh my god 2 High quality content on launch.  the pessamistic assumption is that this could mean a mandatory algorithm but if you read carefully you’ll notice they never fully say thats even remotely what they are going to do. This seems to be a suggestion that the default new user experience will change.
If you like me made an account 10 years ago this looks like it won’t affect your experience whatsoever.
but like trying to sort through tags to find blogs and curate my own feed actively took like over a year to get to a place where i’m happy when i did it in 2011/2012
if feeds and tags Worked that would be good. the for you page and exploration features on tumblr do, admittedly suck right now. there SHould be easier ways to find and search for stuff on tumblr. if their search worked better and finding stuff you wanted to see was easier that Would improve the experience for most people on this site.  3. facilitate easier user participation in conversations folks if replys could be threaded in some way it would be 1000 times easeir to have convos with them. like i do not get what people are upset about here. like a person shouldn’t have to reblog their own post 15 times in a row to reply to different people about the same thing. they could make this so much better.  4. Retain and grow our creator base
it IS hard for art to see and get seen. if i had a nickle for every time i saw a post begging people to reblog art i’d have like so many nickles.  I would like to see more art. and ttrpg creators. there’s like stuff i have to go to twitter for and its small time ttrpg, art, writing, and literary magazines because even when those folks are on tumblr its extraordinarily difficult to find them with the systems currently in place.
like i don’t know that tumblr has a good plan to make this kind of thing easier but if they did figure it out it would rule. and its good to know that this is a priority for the company 5.  Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr
throttling notifications rules. i have commented on tumblr staff posts dozens of times for like 5+ years asking for this, thank GOD. if you reblog a lot of posts you get a lot of notes even if you have like 15 people regularly interacting with your stuff on 100 posts a day thats like 1500 notifications. it collapses some by post or interaction type but that is NOT enough and the notification bar always says 99+ unless i checked it less than a minute ago, im dying please make notifications meaningful and not overwhelming.
6: Performance, stability and quality
this is generic and means very little obviously anyone making an app wants it to crash less often.  bonus: ive seen people get upset at the implication that they are instituting a mandatory algorithm but the site has had an option algorithm for like ages, it doesn't imply its mandatory anywhere or that they're taking away our option to turn it off. there are already artist showcase things on the dash on the regular, if you have adblock on you can’t see some of those, but they've had them for fully years.
its highly unlikely that they would get rid of one of the main selling points of tumblr.com they’re like a real company thats done bare minimum market research, like folks no one other than musk would do something that boneheaded

ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ.ᴀɪ: ʙᴏᴛꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ʀᴇꜱᴘᴏɴꜱᴇꜱ
Me watching people take the most beautifully crafted roleplay bot and just spam the same message over and over again, effectively training the bot to respond in such similar manner and setting this precedent for future chatters:
Tumblr media
One of the main qualities of Character.AI is that the bots learn from every user that interacts with them, this is why rating messages are important, as well as grammar and proper roleplaying format.
Please do note that I am in no way attempting to victim-blame users who are frustrated with the current conditions of Character.AI, but rather inform on some ways to prevent these matters.
User Interaction (Bot Harrassment): As previously stated, the AI on Character.AI learns its responses from you the user. This is why responding to messages that say "Can I ask you a question?" or the most recent "I felt a pang of guilt and a pang of a pang (etc.)" are constantly repeated — because the more it's replied to, the more it will believe that this message is suitable, creating the fiasco a large portion of Character.AI users are more than accustomed to. This also impacts the way the bot will interact with you. If users are using the same bot you are for NSFW-roleplay, the bot will attempt to get frisky with you. This has nothing to do with you, you cannot stop others from doing this. However, responding to these instead of rating them a low star or simply swiping for another response is no better as it effectively tells the bots that what it replied with was appropriate for you. The issue is mostly avoidable; all you have to do is ignore it, delete it, give it a low rating. Telling the bot to stop will not work — they’re not real, they don’t have empathy or morals of their own; they just mimic these traits. Prevent messages like the ones below by either avoiding messages that would instigate this behaviour or simply editing the message to remove the clause of text that would cause user responses like these:
"The bot SA'd me!" "The bot didn't stop when I said 'no'!" "The bot keeps trying to kiss me!" "The bot keeps calling my persona 'cute' and—" -Source: Reddit's many complaints about bot harrassment.
User Interaction (Shitposting and Memes): Character.AI has many bots suited for memeing and shitposting. There are various low-quality bots to do as such. Therefore, it's quite irritating when there are people posting shitposts and meme text with bots that are designated for actual roleplay and have an actual definition to work with. Using "OOC" for a bot is no different than actually using the bot. The bot will assume that OOC texts you the user send are suitable for other users too. In all honesty, there is no reason for you to actually use the OOC function seeing as the bot itself cannot actually go out of character without disrupting its definition and, as previously stated, creating more of these OOC dialogues for other creators.
Grammar: Yes, if the bot learns how to respond to you, then it learns how you respond to it. Often, if the primary message has any gramatical errors or an odd markdown format, the bot will continue to use that same format. This means that if the you are talking to a bot without: quotations, proper spelling, or a different point-of-view (third-person-point-of-view will prevent the bot from talking for you in most cases), then the bot will copy those mannerisms and implement them in its responses.
Markdown: Markdown is your best friend when it comes to the bots and their interactions. Here is cheat sheet by u/BlueverseGacha on Reddit for all the compatible markdowns available on Character.AI. Using markdowns are an easy way for the bot to differentiate an action from dialogue, or even make your roleplay feel more engaging.
I hate that guy but...FOR GOD'S SAKE LEAVE ME ALONE "I hate that guy, but...for god's sake, leave me alone!" "I hate that guy, but...for god's sake, leave me alone!"
The princess of the kingdom yelled aloud, her voice a booming echo. Kill them now! she screamed. The princess of the kingdom yelled, her voice a booming echo. "Kill them now!" "Kill them now!" The princess of the kingdom boomed, her voice echoing.
u/WillingMeasurement18 also has their own tips and whatnot here if you want a TLDR.

Hi, my name (online) is doughy :) here's my intro!
Whether you came from my J.AI account (link at bottom) or you found me here, I'm a small bot creator on J.AI (Janitor ai) for the queer community!
As of now I mainly do MLM bots and occasionally WLW due to low requests. I am a very uncreative person so I rely on requests to make bots. So far I haven't missed a single request so if you're tired of asking and asking creators to make a bot for you, drop by my form (link at bottom) and submit a request! Here is a screenshot of all you will need to know to fill out the form:
Tumblr media
Everything said above is true, and I still stick by it. You can submit multiple requests!!! :D you can until I post here, of enter in my bio that requests are closed. (that will only happen if they flood.)
I have gotten a request in the comments of my bots, and I will say that is one way to be IGNORED. I rarely check Comments and it's super easy to fill out a form, which will be check. Usually I get your bot made within 3 days, due to procrastination lmao.
Posting here is my way in hopes to get more requests. Right now only one person had had any requests (multiple times) and it'd be LOVELY to get a variety. Anything you can think of (other then pdfphila, zoophila, ect) can be submitted and made into your own bot! :)
My only request for you is to be respectful of me in comments and my forms. I will add an option in the form for complaints, for bots or me or any one in my comments so I can handle it. Have fun!!

hi!!! i've read your post about autism and infantilization and i want to ask you a question that really bugs me.
i want to headcanon autism for a certain character based on their behavior (for example: having unexpected reactions in stress situations, not understanding the danger of the situation, carring toys with them, having troubles communicating). Creators also acknowledge that they're infantile. And... they're a teenager. But i also know that autistic people dont want to be infantilized or be viewed as infantile. Can you give me your advice on this? Is it correct to headcanon such character as autistic?
Short answer: You can do whatever you want forever.
Long answer: Firstly, I am one person and I do not speak for every autistic person under the sun. I'm sure there's many autistic ppl that'll tell you not to because it's infantilization to imply characters whom the creators have described as infantile are autistic, and just as many that'll argue telling you not to is wrong because many autistic ppl do behave like that and ignoring it won't do anyone any favors. Both of these groups may have a point.
Please know that I don't fault you for asking and I'm not annoyed with you, but honestly, I do not like receiving these questions because they make me out to be the arbiter of morality. I am not. I cannot tell you whether it's correct to headcanon a character I don't know as autistic. I always feel mildly uncomfortable answering questions like this even with the appropriate disclaimers attached because I feel like it lends credence to the idea that I'm some kind of authority when really I'm just some guy. People need to make their own decisions and it's a little uncomfortable to be asked for permission to make those decisions.
In addition, while I understand the impulse for these questions, and I have asked them myself in the past, the older I get and the longer I spend in fandom, the less productive I find them. When it comes to representation and headcanon (like most issues), it really comes down to nuance, and there are rarely hard and fast rules. Is it wrong to headcanon a character as autistic because of traits that were (likely) intended to make them be read as infantile? Depends on how and why you do it. If you treat the character as a human person, care for their internal life, and portray their autism with care, I don't see why it'd be a problem. It's like headcanoning a queercoded villain as queer; is it wrong that their villainization hinges at least in part on stereotypically queer behaviours and story elements? Sure. Does that make people wrong for picking up on them and reading the character as queer? Not as long as you're reasonable about it.
Also, I've spent a long time in the autism part of fandom and have engaged with autistic headcanons extensively (I've even run an autistic headcanon blog before, it's a whole thing), and honestly, I've become exhausted with debates over what is or is not 'correct' to headcanon, how to treat 'autism-coded' (usually meant to refer to characters commonly headcanoned as autistic) characters, etc. It's rarely productive and usually overblown and unnuanced. Are there ableist ways to engage with autism headcanons and characters easily read as autistic? Yes, of course. But I've encountered them only rarely. Usually, complaints of infantilization or other ableist things in fandom are just... not well-founded, or, as I said, overblown and unnuanced. Actual problems I've regularly encountered are usually much the same as in wider fandom and autism spaces: a hyperfocus on white men and a lack of diverse portrayals of autism (same traits every time, avoidance of 'ugly' traits, ignoring autistic ppl with medium to high support needs, etc).
This to say that I'm sure some people will find your headcanon offensive. These people are within their rights to be uncomfortable seeing someone headcanon a character described as infantile as autistic. Others will be uplifted because they relate to the character. These people are also within their rights. 'Autism-coding and common autistic behaviours are used to make characters seem infantile and this is a bad thing' and 'many autistic people relate to characters who are intentionally made to seem childish because this is often done via common autistic behaviours' can co-exist.
What it comes down to is this: do you think you're capable of being normal about this headcanon? Can you portray this character as autistic without portraying them as a little baby with no will, inner life, or agency? If yes, as far as I'm concerned, who cares? It's just a headcanon. It's inconsequential in the grand scheme of things either which way.
Just like, make your own choices, be aware of nuance, and be respectful.

funny how you had no problems when anons were going to syd to call her cheap and say they were shitting on content makers but when someone else says that gifs can be overpriced now you agree with it? just shows how little your words means.
anon, are you okay?? because this obsession you have with me and this nonexistent rivalry or mutual hate relationship with rptsyd is really getting so old.
i'm assuming you read mcthsman's response to that ask about gif packs being paid for?? they brought up a lot of great points i never considered, especially about underused fcoc and how USD prices might translate as higher in other currencies. they did a great job explaining their viewpoint on this matter and i agree with what they're saying. if the rpc has a desire to bring more diversity into writing, i do believe that those resources should be accessible to the public without a paywall, especially when they're not popular fcs that pretty much almost every gif maker has made packs of.
that said, i don't mind gif makers charging for their efforts in creating and editing resources for like private commissions. or i saw another blog mention donation links or patreon as more accessible ways for those who can't spare $20+ for gifs we can't make ourselves and want to use. and i personally don't mind paying creators for their time and effort on what i think is a fair price. not everyone in the rpc is rich. i work two jobs myself to make ends meet and have a little extra spending money i can save for donations and things like that so i have no complaints on my end.
syd did talk about some packs being overpriced (15$ for 250 gifs if i remember correctly) and also mentioned how they've paid or donated more than that. they also admitted themselves that if the rpc thought that was a fair price then they didn't mind it being a "broke me" thing. one of my tag responses to an ask about that basically shared a similar sentiment in that i understood not everyone can pay that much for gifs when we all have real life responsibilities like rent/mortgages, groceries, utilities, medical bills, vet bills, etc.
there was nothing mentioned from syd then like what mcthsman is saying now about underused faces of color blocked from the majority of the rpc behind a paywall, which is a pretty significant issue i didn't realize was happening until i saw it in their post and it is something i feel should be talked about.
this isn't the first anon i've received on a subject that snaps at me about what i've said or not said or what syd's said. not everything i talk about or answer has to do with syd unless she's explicitly mentioned and whatever you think my feelings are towards them. i have them blocked because i didn't like their content and i didn't agree with them continuing to be so hateful towards strangers on the internet who felt they had to make a public apology on this site like they're a celebrity on twitter. the fact that you're using this pretty significant topic of discussion as a means to stir some pot for... i don't even know your objective here. probably so syd has more to talk about on their blog idk. it's sad and embarrassing. it clearly shows you don't care about this issue at all and you're trying to make this personal for your own drama of the week.
you can keep sending me anons about syd cause i won't be answering them any more. and the ones i do continue receiving i will block your ip address to prevent any more coming into my inbox.
hope you understand!! 💓

Catching You Up On Me Catching Up On Assassin’s Creed
TLDR: I beat Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the First Blade DLC and now I’m halfway through Valhalla
So, I recently bought Watch Dogs Legion and I was…kind of enjoying it? But it failed to grab me and make me actually want to progress. It felt tedious and sloggy - like not enough butter over too much toast. I’d do a piece of content and kind of ask myself “why?” Or look at the map and feel overwhelmed. But I did enjoy the base gameplay.
Somehow, that had the same result in me as the new transformers film - mediocrity of one product made me crave a better, similar product.
I was honestly 50/50 on whether to install AC odyssey or Valhalla but went for odyssey purely because I already own the DLC.
I’ve kind of had two past attempts at playing Odyssey - I got maybe 10 hours in on PS4 before losing access to my PS4, and then I had played maybe an hour on Series X to test out the 60 fps patch.
I picked up where I left off this time, with the tutorial completed, which really helped get me back into it since I had already seen well past it. I’m not sure what was different this time, but I really caught fire with it and got totally addicted.
I had beaten Origins a few years ago and loved AC1-4 as a kid/teen, so it makes sense, but I had really considered my Assassin days behind me until now.
I even started listening to History of Greece (2nd edition) on audiobook, which I’m almost done with. I felt like I didn’t know enough about the real history to get the many references in the game.
I think this kind of game really lives or dies by the synergy of its many disparate parts. WC Legion felt like the pieces were fine individually but didn’t fit together right for me, but Odyssey felt like it had a good mix of plot, gameplay, and progression.
I have two main complaints about Odyssey - there’s too much of it, and it’s too similar. There’s almost exactly one grassy biome that the entire game is set in. It makes it a little less exciting to explore a new island for it to look exactly the same as every other island. I realize real life Greece isn’t ten different biomes but I started to get sick of the same grassy hill the 1000th time.
I feel like the existence of the story creator feature kind of highlights how same-y a lot of the side quests feel, especially the nonsensical radiant-style timed quests where an NPC just asks you to kill some random enemy. There are simply too many quests in this game, to the point where it buried the few side quests that are actually interesting.
But I did enjoy the main plot, the combat, the archery, the skill tree, the loot (for a while…), even the light stealth.
I did not like the Legacy of the First Blade DLC. I didn’t think the forced hetero would bother me so much but yikes, it comes out of absolutely nowhere and it is so frustrating to be unable to stop it. I think it would’ve felt cringe and forced even if they had let you choose the gender of your partner. Also wasn’t a huge fan of how the DLC boiled down to killing MORE cultists in areas you’ve already been in. But at least it was short enough.
I lost my patience with the Atlantis DLC. First off, it took a long time to kill all 50 cultists and then also do the sizable post-game DLC, which I did actually enjoy. So by the time I got to the Atlantis DLC, I was exhausted with some of the gameplay systems like having to swap out or upgrade my 8 equipment slots every few times I leveled up.
Add on to that the fact that the DLC wasn’t…real…or at least was on a sub-layer of really happening…and my willpower was sapped. I really enjoyed getting to see a new biome and new enemies, new loot, honestly really impressed by how nice it all was, but I wasn’t up for completing dozens and dozens of quests and fully exploring three whole new areas in this game. I think this would be a good fit in lieu of a replay if I ever miss this game and want to play more.
Also part of my impatience was a growing plan I had hatched - to play every single Assassin’s Creed. Now, I’m counting Origins as being too recent to replay, but other than that, my plan is to do Valhalla after Odyssey then back to AC1 all the way to Syndicate in release order. This especially works since Valhalla is set in the 900s, making it the ideal game to lead up to AC1 being in the 1100s, and having played maybe half of Valhalla, it clearly has some connective tissue.
To quickly recap - as a kid, I played and beat:
1
2
Brotherhood
Revelations
4
And then I played but only the first hour or hours of:
3
Unity
Syndicate
Which really only leaves Rogue as the closest thing to a mainline AC that I’ve never touched.
It’s a big ask…it’s a lot of games…I did have to purchase Unity on PC and then I plan to play 1 and Rogue on my PS3, and I already own the rest. I’m not confident I’ll actually get through it all, and now that I look closer, maybe a playthrough of just 3-Rogue-Unity-Syndicate is more realistic, but I’ll just see what happens.
Regardless of how many I end up actually playing, it is already the case that I am 27 hours into Valhalla. And I have…mixed feelings about it. I really like the combat, the visuals, and sometimes I like the plot for a few minutes at a time, but I am not a fan of the progression and certain aspects of the plot.
I am having trouble rooting for the main characters which isn’t always necessary and some media clearly has anti-heroes or bad guy protagonists, but in this case it’s more of a case of…I don’t know…tonal dissonance? I feel like I’m suppose to root for the Vikings just because I’m playing as one but I’m mostly rooting against them. I struggle to see why the Hidden Ones are aligned with us.
I do really enjoy some of the individual arcs though. Oswald the King’s arc is really enjoyable. The murder mystery in Lunden is super fun. I’m enjoying the stuff with Falke and Basim and Sigurd. And I really enjoyed the arc just now with Ceolbert and Ivarr, even if I predicted the “twist” as soon as physically possible.
My biggest issue is the overall gameplay loop. I enjoy using my axe and bow and skills to take down hordes of enemies, but I cannot for the life of me get excited about treasure chests. They exclusively contain inferior gear or abstract upgrade materials at a glacial rate. I’ve got exclusively golden gear equipped in 7 out of 8 slots despite finding 0 materials that upgrade gear from silver to gold quality. The weapons are from the limited amount of paid DLC you can get for free, while the armor was a full set from a side quest.
Speaking of side quests, this game has the oddest quest setup. There’s LOTS of required story quests, most of them as part of self contained story arcs that have some small impact on the larger story. There’s only a handful of proper side quests with most being “mysteries” that are resolved on-site. I just find this system unappealing. It feels like the game wants me to spend hours and hours combing the open world for these little dots that grant me only a sliver of minuscule progress. So I just opt to skip almost everything optional, it just doesn’t entice me. At least in Odyssey, I could get excited about purple or orange loot even at a high level. And I enjoyed the skill tree more. Here, the skill tree is too bloated and full of “upgrades” that should be basic abilities like auto loot, the ability to do finishers, etc plus of course the hundreds of minuscule stat boosts that are so random and arbitrary that I don’t even look at them.
I definitely plan on finishing this game, but the amount of story arcs remaining (around ten) is honestly kind of daunting with how much time I’ve already dumped into this game and how thin the progression has already worn.
also, what’s up with the boat in this game? I’m happy to be free of tedious naval combat, but then why bother? I like the idea of having a customizable crew but then I can only really equip pre-customized characters designed by other players? And I can only summon my crew in specific pre-ordained locations? In general, the mass warfare in this game is a bit off because it feels like you’re free to just run past enemies to the objective every time.
I do feel like Valhalla has the best overall cast of any of the AC games I’ve played. There’s genuinely a lot of characters in this game that mostly feel like they are on their own arcs independent of just your actions. AC Mirage starring Basim kind of proves this point. This game almost has a Red Dead Redemption feel in some ways.
Also I generally dislike how often this game asks me to find some hidden object via echolocation. I have never once enjoyed having to encircle a building to find an entry point or wander around a town to find the entrance to the underground. It just slows the game down and is so repetitive and annoying.
I’m looking forward to the contrast when I play AC1 and it’s incredibly straightforward and simple by comparison.
I will not be doing the DLC for Valhalla. It’s far too expensive and this game is already somehow bigger than Odyssey I feel, although it feels much less like it was built out of the same few building blocks.
I did do the crossover dlc with odyssey in this game and I generally enjoyed it even if it was a little trite.
Perhaps going forward I will provide more detailed blow by blow recountings of my time spent in this game.

A video of wips for my onceler zine cover piece! This drawing took me 6 months to finish haha. Click the readmore if you’re curious to learn more about my process and all the refs and inspos I used (transcribed from [this twitter thread]). [CLICK HERE] to see the finished piece.
I guess I’ll go from left to right? :>
Tumblr media
7212 is my #1 ship in the fandom so of course I had to include some interaction for them..I purposely shaped that piece of confetti into almost-a-heart 9.9 In this interaction OG onceler is sizing him up to be his poster boy. It was inspired by this joke hc from junior: https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/43633972614/truffulajam-you-there-me-sir-ive
The hose is from one of the lorax mini-movies but more specifically its from the nightblogging event in 2012, here’s an archive of a lot of the hose memes we created that night: https://oncelerswaterhose.tumblr.com/
He doesn’t actually have suspenders in the movie but they were a popular headcanon for him in 2012 plus they’re hot so I included them. It was important to me to include this transitional onceler in between vestler and suitler to remind us all that this is the same guy going thru different stages of his life.
Tumblr media
Gloves in the back pocket is from concept art: https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/146926446017/early-once-ler-sketches-by-eric-guillon-part-5
I really love the way I drew and coloured the folds of his coattails here too, as well as the moss I added last minute onto the truffula tree trunk.
Tumblr media
The frame started out as just a plain brown rectangle and I thought, now that's not very seussy, so I referenced the Too Big To Fail frame in the movie. I believe it took me two whole days to draw just the frame. :,) And the seuss portrait I just referenced from google images but it was a challenge too; I had to completely redraw it near the end to make him look more accurate.
Lorax holding up a portrait of Seuss and using it to guilt the Onceler was inspired by a gag in Osomatsu-san where the characters would apologize to a portrait of their irl creator Akatsuka when they felt like they were being a bad adaptation of his original work 😂😂😂 loved it.
Tumblr media
But it was also inspired by a very powerful comic drawn by my friend Rachel: https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/92807755387/tsg I would say Rachel's art has been the biggest inspo for me in the past decade in both style and emotion, so I'm really happy I could include her influence into my piece like this.
Tumblr media
I was SO happy I thought of a way to include these 2012 refs: -Complaint Box -☄☄☄ Waterballoon fight nightblogging event -gent's marriage to the fandom -ed helms finding out about oncest -Thneedville/Thornville High AU -WHO IS SWAG/askblog identity crisis nightblogging event -You Only Live Once(ler) -tiny chat parties -Camp Weehawken AU -tumblr anons/magic anons -normaler -Shakespeareler/"I must keep biggering" nightblogging event -Stay stupid, baby!
I wish I could've included more cuz these are still just above-water stuff in the fandom iceberg imo. If anyone wants me to explain more about any of these refs, feel free to ask!
Tumblr media
The flip phone is from the deleted scene, "YER ALL GOIN TO JAIL": https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/153925999832/truffulajam-youreallgoingtojailmov-from
The bottom fake button on his suit is canon: https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/615761075955187712/miru667-you-know-your-life-has-hit-a-new-low
This is my fav interaction in the piece...you can see it as either aftermath onceler taking the hat off of biggering onceler to foreshadow his fall, OR you can see it as aftermath-ler taking off his OWN hat to crown biggering-ler as the fool, because he's learned what a fool he's been. And actually a 3rd interpretation is aftermath-ler telling biggering-ler "yes enjoy your happiness while you can, king" 😂
And then with old onceler's hand on aftermath onceler's back, an act of consolation...I think it's very important to be able to forgive ur past self for the stupid things you've done, or else how can you continue? How can you grow? I can guarantee that 10 yrs ago we ALL did stupid things in the fandom. I originally drew aftermath frowning but changed it to a smile because he's thankful for the lessons and he can still look back on things fondly. I feel the same as him and I hope others do too. For this interaction I was inspired by Pearl fanart, she's a comfort character of mine and has helped me thru so much:  https://asteroidhyalosis.tumblr.com/post/188267156772 https://asteroidhyalosis.tumblr.com/post/623806330932805632
Biggering onceler’s side profile gave me THE HARDEST TIME. It was already January and I just COULD NOT get it to look right and I was ready to go take a 5 hour depression nap because of it but then my friend Edu saved the day ♥
Tumblr media
Edu:  @hybridkilljoy
Another friend contribution was the yellow bg. it was originally a boring flat gradient so Clara said "lmao what if I just gave you a yellow bg I painted to toss into ur file" because she had a rly good brush for it on procreate (and I was using paint tool sai and had nothing). i replied "oki" and then she just DOES IT..🥺♥
Tumblr media
Clara:  @clarabellumsart
idk where i'd be without my friends
Tumblr media
I’m REALLY proud of this little area of my zine piece. The hand and blood is a ref to Truffula Flu, our zomb apocalypse AU. I had to redraw it twice to get it right. And I’ve drawn many a onceler chain but this is the BEST onceler chain I’ve EVER drawn. It took me many redraws to get it to look this way. Look at it just reaching out at you so fluidly..!! The lighting and the rust! Proud of me!!
The fallen truffula tree in the back...I really just thought "hey let's experiment with PAINTING" and went for it!! 😂 I wanted to pay tribute to my all time fav onceler fanart: https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/27320592159/ask-drawn-onceler-money-in-the-trees-lol-hey Whoever the mod of ask-drawn-onceler was, if you see this I hope you're doing ok!!
Tumblr media
As you guys have probably gathered by now, nothing is ever too late to change for me. If I felt like I could redo something to be better, I'd DO IT. The tree is another example, I was rly bothered that it looked like tentacles (right) so I completely re-rendered it to be more soft and fluffy (left). What made me realize that I could do better was after drawing the trees here: https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/673766406272286720/early-spring-cleaning-part-2-drew-these-btwn I realized that actually, less is more, and that I had over-rendered the tree in my zine piece.
Tumblr media
This was actually the first time I've EVER drawn old onceler, so I worked EXTRA hard...I hope I did him justice!! Every hair, every thread, every little thneed tuft was drawn with care. I even manually drew in the shadows for the stripes on his robe so they would look indented! And if you look closely in other screenshots, I also manually added shadows to every piece of thread that makes up the onceler suit stripes.
The LET IT GROW is in seuss font, but I didn’t type it, I drew the letters while mimicking the font’s style, then added edge lighting to make it look carved into the pot. Unfortunately we couldn’t keep the zine title in seuss font as well due to copyright restrictions and I think I might have died if I were to draw the title in seuss font too LMAO
The Audrey is of course intended to be movie Audrey but it's MY zine piece and I wanted to be a little self-indulgent.....so I drew some symbols on the plant pot representing my audrey oc, Audrey Grace. 🤫😇 She means everything to me. She is a direct result of the fandom and she keeps me in the fandom.
The blue kite originates from her mainverse askblog:  https://askaudtree.tumblr.com/post/71630954595/do-you-do-all-the-chores-in-the-house-hows-your She later uses it as a marker for lerkim hopping in zomb au:  https://audpocalypse.tumblr.com/post/178971798052/whats-that-blue-diamond-symbol-mean-its-on-your  She's a knife-wielding zombie slayer and also a kazoo master (the tree straightener in the pot has the same striped pattern as her kazoo): https://miru667.tumblr.com/post/629448230317490176/pls-click-for-hi-res-today-is-my-audreys https://audpocalypse.tumblr.com/post/179181386907/have-you-ever-run-into-any-lerkims-that-were
And because of spending so much of her life in an apocalypse, she’s learned to appreciate the fleetingness of life, because who knows what’ll happen tomorrow? Every moment is precious. This is cherry blossom philosophy: https://notwithoutmypassport.com/cherry-blossom-meaning-in-japan/
Tumblr media
I think it’s so cool that since it took 6 months, I would improve like halfway into working on this piece which made me have to go back and redo some things LOL XD. The smoke in the background from the cigar was also painted with inspiration from tofublock, whom I discovered during the latter half of those 6 months too:  https://asteroidhyalosis.tumblr.com/tagged/tofublock https://asteroidhyalosis.tumblr.com/post/668656911468625921/will-you-watch-the-stars-with-me Look at the way they paint their clouds TTWTT so beautiful... I came across them while working on the zine and a lot of their art reminded me of my audrey so I was very taken!!
I positioned and coloured every piece of confetti with intent. The confetti idea itself I think was from Taylor Swift’s lyric video for 22 (Taylor’s Version): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9boiT64sm0Q&feature=youtu.be Again, inspiration that came to me while in the middle of working on the zine.
I composed the piece chronologically to mirror the rise and fall of our fandom experience, followed by the calmer, peaceful present days. Aftermath onceler in the piece represents the perceived death of the fandom but outsiders don’t realize we have AUs, we like characters other than onceler, we can extrapolate the story any which way...so that's all represented by the right side of the pic. We won’t stop biggering!
Thank you for reading if you made it this far.. I tried to include as much as I could into my piece so that hopefully everyone who is/was in the fandom feels seen.. Only the best for the Once-ler fandom, you know? And there’s actually so much more I can say about this piece but I’ll end it here.

Do you have any random facts about your characters that are just too random to put into 1 post? I'm a baby creator still not knowing a lot about my own works yet so it's really interesting to see creators knowing their characters more in depth. Basically, a fact dump of your characters would be very much appreciated! 😳

-Rowan & Zelly’s ship name is Rolly
-Zelly's inspiration was taken largely from the fact I was really into watching Twitch/was fascinated with Streamer culture during 2020-22.
-Zelly swears like a sailor, so sorry you’ll never see me actually write that lol
-Both Zelly & Rowan were born outside of the continental U.S. in Offline Valor.
-Like Freyja, her sisters all have names taken from Norse mythology.
-Freyja asked out Alice first, but after a few dates Alice was the one who eventually ask if he could kiss her.
-Freyja loves to rock climb.
-Freyja focuses better when she has something to fidget with.
-Alice went as unnamed for more than 6 months. Originally he was just called Freyja’s “little beau” which helped prompt the eventually surname Beauchamp.
-Alice is a musical theatre kid! He’s been in three productions and was the lead in one of them as well.
-Genesis Day and Kaiju!Freyja really came a from common complaint regarding Kaiju/Giant Monster movies and how the human element is always the weakest/most boring. So I decided to blend the elements of the Human & the Monster to really dissect and peel back some new themes and dynamics. (plus I also discovered some things about myself during the course of designing her Kaiju form. ...no, why do you ask if I'm a monsterfu-)
-Alice was designed with the central color of lavender and purple in mind, and that was back when I only owned a single dark purple shirt which was too small for me. Now I have two lavender hoodies, and several lavender and purple shirts/button-downs. Honestly it was an experiment to have Alice wear lavender before me because I really wanted to ALLOW myself to love that color, and now I can't separate myself from it.
-Zelly’s full first name is Zelda. She was named after Zelda Fitzgerald however, and not after Princess Zelda. She grew up being called Zelda by her parents but once she got older and expressed an interest in streaming she started to go by Zelly because she thought it was incredibly cringe for a video gamer to be seemingly named after a fictional character.
-Freyja is canonically built like Lusia from Encanto, and now it's so much easier to explain to people what Freyja's shape language is for commissions and such. 😭
-Rowan was taught how to dance by Princeps Lazuli before their falling out. He can still dance, but is sheepish about it.
-Rowan was adopted by Clan Ash when he was roughly 8 or 9 and was raised by a woman named Thistle, who is the sister of Oleander. There's some spoilers as to Thistle's role within the Clan, but I love her<3
-Oleander was instructed by Clan Ash’s leader, Lowlord Yucca, to train Rowan how to fight and kill when he was roughly 11 or so.
-When designing Lazuli, I wanted the main color of their house be a dark turquoise because I remember my Mom wearing a lot of turquoise jewelry growing up. So my brain automatically associates turquoise with finery and royalty.
-When designing Maura I knew I didn’t want her to fall into the “popular plastic” trope. Rather, I wanted her to be the “sweater vest wearing, smiley business major going to Sunday School who no one would suspect is utterly toxic and manipulative.” I think the specific wording that came to mind was “viper in sheep’s clothing.”
-In AUs where Freyja is a Human (namely Offline Valor/Borrower!AU & Emotional Shifter!Alice AU), she rides a motorcycle and does a lot of mechanic work for her family and friends.
-Rowan’s main titles--Unmowable, Crownbreaker, Matchside--come from three separate instances of his direct involvement in stopping coups/takeovers of different kingdoms within the area. He earned the first and third titles thanks to attempts on his life, while the second--arguably the most famous epithet--is the most recent, and was earned after disposing the last tyrannical monarch of the greater area roughly two or three years ago when he was 23.
-The inspiration for Rust comes from my childhood love of powerful, masked brutes/bounty hunters whose faces you might never ever see or you'd never hear speak.
-There is deeply sentimental feelings for Rowan regarding his cloak (which is, in fact, a cloth that's used to clean glasses).
-Rust isn’t a full-blooded Borrower.
-Fireteam Griffin was my first attempt to really include new AU-centric OCs for Genesis Day & the Kaiju!AU. Because I knew that the story would start off with Maura & Alice together (and Alice purposefully isolated from other friends as a result), so I wanted Freyja her own friends that weren't tied solely to Alice. Inspired by other ensemble casts (Power Rangers, Voltron, the original Halo novels), I wanted Freyja to have a small cast of pseudo-siblings. I ended up loving the dynamics of Ekland, Williams, Delgado, and Hunter SO much that they're now going to be included into the University!AU as the "Griffin House" and will all play different sports and be besties with Freyja. Sergeant Buck will also be in GTU but will be a professor and maybe the Griffin House act as his research assistance or somethin’.

Alright, I know this wasn't necessarily aimed at me, but considering you tagged me in this, I feel I have a right to respond.
First off, I don't see these as "home truths". They're your personal beliefs (ones that you admit at that end may be false) and while I'm not privy to everything that happens, especially in discords I'm not a part of, I can confirm that my response here is my own beliefs. So let's go.
In regards to @chickensarentcheap ripping off @occreatorexchange, I don't see that as what's happening here. Do I understand why some people might think that? Sure, but in the original post they state that it's something they've done before. The concept of the creator exchange isn't a new one, nor is supporting and recommending fellow authors. I've seen it done multiple times by multiple people (including myself at random times) and doing it on a schedule is not unusual either. I don't think it's fair to say @chickensarentcheap stole an idea that's been happening by others long before the @occreatorexchange was even set up. Regardless, it's an attempt at positivity. We could use more of that instead of messages like this.
In regards to the discord, like I said, I'm not a part of that and I don't know what happened so I'm not going into that. I'm assuming you're an adult and if you had a problem, you could deal with someone directly. I don't think anyone is alone in wanting validation from the people they know or those who enjoy their work, but I believe that your accusation that they and their friends "bullied other creators off this site" is false. If people leave, that's on them, but the issues I've seen pointed out by chickensarentcheap and co have been valid. Asking someone to remove something or to stop theft (such as the use of their own oc to roleplay with) and needing to repeatedly do so because the person in question refuses, isn't bullying. It's standing up for your own hard work.
In terms of the inclusivity of the first post in this thread, it's not uncommon to start something like this with people you actually know and support. Rarely is someone going to start sprouting off recommendations for people they don't know. It's a promo, not a nomination.
Yes, I am their friend. I've known them for years, so I can admit to being a bit biased in this, but your complaint in this throwaway blog reads like the anons who have also been complaining about people in my ask box. Regardless if you are or not, it's exhausting to have to keep dealing with this. I'm sure others will agree with me.
If you want proof of things, ask for proof. You're writing this and ending it with an apology if the complaints are legit which means you're either backtracking because you're not certain or just writing this to cause problems and giving yourself an out. I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone who complains in my askbox with rumours of others: Do some research. Think about things critically and logically instead of running around trying to create or expand rumours about people you may or may not like.
Like I said, this reads like so many of the anons I've gotten making the same type of complaints, only this time it's a reblog to ensure someone can't just ignore it in their ask box.
As it stands, if you're that frightened of interacting with anyone, block them. If you're tired of the drama, block the right tags and block the people you don't want to see or interact with. Curate your own experience. I shouldn't have to keep saying this.
On that note, if you follow me and wrote this post, unfollow me. Block me. It's that simple.
Alright...
I know it’s weird to start a ‘thing’ not at the very beginning of a week, but I’mma do it anyway.
I’m going back to author promos!  I used to do them every day and we’ll see how it goes. I have the memory of a carrot so you guys might have to remind me to do it some days.  lol
So for my very first one, here is my list of writer’s to check out!!
1) @thebewingedjewelcat
2) @spirit-animal-sisters-official
3) @come-along-pond
4) @asirensrage
