Anti-Junta Firearms in Myanmar

The anti-junta forces in Myanmar have become extremely adept at creating their own weaponry to support their fight versus the ruling junta.

Above video shows a clone of an AK (top) being compared to a real AK (bottom)

There is also the TZ23, a standardized, AR-15/AK inspired assault rifle (piston-driven, so similar in concept to an AR-18). The majority of the furniture, and even the lower receiver itself, looks to be 3D printed. Here's some pictures of it, showing a prototype, the standardized production version, being loaded (where you can see how thick the magazine well walls are bc 3D printing), and a shot of an entire armory full of them.

They also have weapons which are modified civilian weapons, like this Indian made Lee-Enfield clone chambered for 8x50mmR Mannlicher (?!?!) But their primary choice of self-produced weapon to fight the junta...

What races live in your world?

There's quite a number overall, with obvious picks like humans, Orcs, and the four kinds of Elves as already detailed on the blog. Dwarves are gem-like creatures properly titled Silavarin, and goblins are a crossbreed between dwarves and orcs. In terms of less common picks, vampires exist as a somewhat common offshoot species from elves, Frost Giants are the last survivors of the now-dead Giant Clans, and there's a chimeric race known as Enfield based on their mythological namesake and are highly attuned with spirits!

These aren't all of the sentient species on Pamyst, which total somewhere around 25-30, but they are the most consistently important in Pholodelas where the majority of my work lies. :)

The Crooked Man

Oddly enough I was actually reading this story at around the same time that Watson is reading!

Aldershot was - and still is - a major "garrison town" located 31 miles SW of Charing Cross. Around 20% of the British Army were based there in 1914.

Holmes says "Elementary!"

Aldershot is accessible by direct train from Waterloo - today electric trains serve it from there in just over an hour.

The Crimea of course refers to the Crimean War of 1853-56; the one of the Light Brigade, Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. It was the first major war to make use of railways, telegraphy and photography.

The Mutiny refers to the common British name for the uprising in India in 1857-58 against the East India Company. Klinger devotes an entire chapter to it. The trigger, although resentments had been around for a while, was rumours that the grease in cartridges for the Lee Enfield rifle requiring the paper to opened using the mouth contained beef tallow and pork lard, offensive to Hindus and Muslims respectively.

When a group of mostly Muslim soldiers refused to accept the cartridges, were court-martialled and were sentenced to hard labour in the city of Meerut, an uprising broke out and spread across much of India. Support for it was by no means universal.

It took over a year for the British to defeat the insurgents in a war that saw many atrocities, the local population suffering the worst. Exaggerated reports of Indian war crimes in the British press fuelled a complete lack of sympathy in British soldiers and public alike.

The conflict ended with the capture or death of the rebel leaders, an amnesty for those who had not murdered Europeans and the end of the East India Company's rule with the Crown taking over, followed by some reforms to involve Indians more in administration.

Roman Catholicism had become tolerated by this point with nearly all legal restrictions removed, although discrimination remained, especially in Ireland.

A man has appeared in court for the second time in a day charged with the murders of a woman and two of her daughters in a crossbow attack at their home.

Carol Hunt, 61, Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, were found fatally injured in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on 9 July.

Kyle Clifford, 26, from Enfield, north London, was arrested after being found injured in a cemetery near his home on 10 July, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard.

The defendant, who was also charged with false imprisonment and two counts of possession of offensive weapons, was remanded in custody after an appearance at the Royal Courts of Justice, London.

The victims were the wife and daughters of BBC racing commentator John Hunt.

Police had previously been unable to interview Mr Clifford while he received treatment in hospital, where he remained under arrest.

A brief court hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning was told the weapons Mr Clifford was accused of having at the Hunt family home were an MX-405 compact crossbow and a 10in (25cm) "butcher's knife".

Police and the ambulance service had been called to the property by Hannah Hunt, prosecutor David Burns said.

"Police attended the property - they found the front door was open," Mr Burns said.

The court heard that Louise had been found tied up. She had been shot with a crossbow.

Hannah Hunt had also been shot with a crossbow and their mother Carol had been stabbed with a knife and suffered multiple injuries, the court was told.

"They found Hannah Hunt lying in the doorway. She had been shot by a crossbow in the chest," Mr Burns said.

He added that Carol Hunt had suffered "multiple" knife wounds.

During the Westminster court hearing, Mr Clifford, appearing via video link from Kempston police station, Bedfordshire, nodded when asked to confirm his name and address.

District Judge Paul Goldspring remanded him in custody ahead of the hearing at the High Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr Clifford later appeared in front of High Court judge Mr Justice Johnson, again via video link.

No trial date was set because inquiries were being made about a suitable court for him to be tried in as a wheelchair user.

In a previous statement, Mr Hunt and surviving daughter Amy said their devastation at the killings "cannot be put into words".

A fundraiser set up to support them saw more than £120,000 in donations pledged.

Det Ch Insp Nick Gardner, of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "We have been working hard to gather as much evidence as possible and establish the full circumstances of what happened that day.

"Although it has taken some time to reach this stage, we can now move forward with the judicial process and seek justice for their family."

does hyde seem the type to negotiate? he's the clever one (jekyll would sooner freeze up), and he negotiates more often than he's explicitly violent in the og

does jekyll love his friends to the point of becoming a whimpering mess. does he cry

could hyde believably do a bloody murder (looking at you tgs)

is there utterson + lanyon. enfield. poole. the old lady. are utterson and lanyon actually jekyll's friends or are they just there. is the story about them. lanyon should want to study hyde like a bug and be unwaiveringly faithful to jekyll despite their fighting, and utterson should worry himself sick about henry, his harry. also utterson should blame himself for jekyll's downfall to some extent

is hyde having fun? he's defined by how much he loves life. he should be singing

how many crimes does hyde actually do. he was out for years in the og, and jekyll didn't mention any other murders, or anything worse than accidentally bumping into a kid once

is hyde autistic/queer coded

people do hate the way hyde looks, right? looking at you, 1968. that should be baseline

it's like 4 different stories at once. there's the story of hal incandenza and his studenthood at boston's fictional enfield tennis academy, then the story of don gately and his experience with alcoholics anonymous at the (also fictional) ennet house drug and alcohol recovery house, the story of remy marathe and hugh steeply who are searching for the "Entertainment," a tape that is so entertaining that everyone who watches it dies, and the story of the fictional o.n.a.n. political system and the post-territorial-reconfiguration Great Concavity. throughout all of this the really major theme is america's addiction to being entertained and also quebec separatism

@spiritboxradio is a cosy horror fiction podcast about a radio show for enthusiasts of all things arcane. The show has recently been taken over by Sam Enfield, a former postboy with no experience in the arcane arts, following the disappearance of the previous host. Sam soon discovers there are more than ghosts haunting the show, and finds himself amdist a mystery which threatens everything he knows about the arcane, and even himself.

The show's horror is gentle, more spooky than scary. Overall the focus is on grief, identity and love. With a whole host of supporting characters from knife-weilding lesbians and truth-knowing lawyers to angry bog-witches and hot-coded florists, the world of SBR is brought to life by a cast of majority LGBTQ+ actors from across the world.

Now in its 3rd and final season, Sam's journey is one with many twists and turns. People have compared this show to Welcome to Night Vale, Monstrous Agonies and Hello from the Hallowoods (which I'm always flattered and blown away by) and it's chock full of references to a whole bunch of shows that audio drama enthusiasts will enjoy picking out!
