deeply funny to think about the Drifter trying to interact normally in the Origin system while their consciousness is ping-ponging back and forth between Duviri (time loop) and 1999 (time loop).

They have no compunction about being completely honest with people because they are used to everyone forgetting everything they say when the loop resets. They don't treat their own possessions with any care because they absently assume they will pop back into existence tomorrow. They forget to eat or sleep for long stretches because (you guessed it!) their physical well-being would usually reset too. They cheerfully abandon any task they're undertaking to satisfy their curiosity because "it'll be there next time."

What a weird little freak. I love them.

Shen Yuan wakes up in his own corpse. He's dead dead. He's cold, and not breathing and has livor mortis. At least he's not in rigor yet- still? He's not sure how long he's been dead. Anyway, he messages Airplane to come to him, he's pretty sure he can't take a bus like this.

He guesses it's nice that his senses still work and he can't seem to feel pain or hunger or whatever. But this does put a definite timer on how long he can stay like this probably...

When his husband gets here (because of course he'll get here) he's going to be so upset.

There’s a children’s ropes course in my home town, and I wanted to try and take pictures to lend it a sort of liminal and vertigo-inducing effect. I also wanted to make it seem morbid and dangerous, because I am kind of basic and predictable in that way. I feel I was successful in my goals.

I don’t consider myself a photographer, and in fact generally consider myself to be bad at the art form, but I like how these all turned out. It might have had something to do with using an actual manually adjustable camera, and not just an iPhone.

Granted, the Blue Lion's victory was short lived when they discovered that their prize was a golden zanado fruit - sure it's edible but, uh... It's the gesture that counts?

okay sooooooo I somehow got my hands on the cheese dispenser manual and apparently we're not following proper maintenance protocol as detailed in the instructions (like with so many of the machines at work tbh. WHY IS NO ONE READING THE DAMN INSTRUCTIONS)

and apparently the part of the machines that's giving us trouble is supposed to be removed, thoroughly cleaned and reattached at least once a week???? and idk if we've got a dedicated educated worker doing that in secret or if no one's read the manual and no one's actually done the proper cleaning routine ever????? uhhhhh

don't wanna be a disruptive force at work on purpose (at least not more than I am on accident sometimes oops) but I would looove to print out the manual and ask the managers about that weekly maintenance passage ngl

but the incessant need to FIND SOLUTIONS AND FIX THINGS AND DO THINGS THE PROPER WAY AND MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR EVERYONE GRRRRR

(also apparently there's kinda hidden air vents on the dispenser that need to be cleaned weekly as well???? and idk if that gets done either???? HELP?????)

how do you think dean feels about aging? obviously we know he never expected to live very long, so when he does i’m sure he’s thankful as hell!! but things like wrinkles, hearing loss, bad eyes, other disabilities that come with age — how do you think he takes it? especially when he was such a physical POWERHOUSE in his prime.

In general, yeah, every day is a gift because he never would've thought he'd live this long, especially not to see retirement. It wouldn't hit him until his birthday, when he's now in his forties, mid-forties, his fifties, mid-fifties, and so on. Watching his kids get older too would really make him feel old.

But looks-wise, Dean is largely in denial, as we see here

I don't think that would change lmao. I think it would take someone else pointing something out to make him feel conscious about it. Like the "What's a dad bod?" moment that one episode (it's escaping me rn I can picture it clear as day). But I think generally he's confident enough in his looks that it doesn't bother him. Especially since he's in a loving, committed relationship.

His body degrading would be much more disheartening (as you've seen in my ficlet about his bad knees) Like, he loves his new quiet retirement life. He still works out regularly and stays in shape in case he does need to fight, so he definitely could be worse-off if he wasn't exercising, but he still lived a really hardcore lifestyle and that did some damage. I think losing his hearing and eyesight would be difficult but losing his mobility would hit him like a truck. At first, he just powers through (to his own detriment later on when he's sore for the next day or two) and he learns the hard way he's better off taking it easier in the first place. But that takes a mental toll as well. It's hard, adjusting to this new normal and letting go of things he used to do, letting go of how his body used to be. He really beats himself up for it. But he has a good support system in his partner who accommodates his needs and they figure everything out together 💖

I feel like in the past the mix of this site being used for both activism and fandom helped contribute to a lot of unhinged politicized fandom discourse where yeah ofc there's a political tie to media but ppl used it as... a form of activism where it was given disproportionate importance compared to other activism discussions? Whereas now we're swinging to the opposite site of How Dare You Care About Meaningless TV Shows When Politics.

Like... we can have a mix of realizing there's more important stuff to focus on than shipping discourse in the world at large without also minimizing the insane doxxing and death threats behavior going on in fandom that people in fandom have to take into consideration to be able to do their hobby, esp given how those attitudes stem from irl political climates at times in ways that are telling to study. Hobbies are kinda how we prevent activism burnout also. Crazey how that works.
