A reworked headcanon now that we have new games:

Using a Pokémon to fly between locations requires a licence in most regions, however the criteria needed in order to obtain one varies from region to region.

In most regions, a Flying Licence is obtainable to anyone holding a valid trainer's license, provided they've collected a set number of gym badges. Trainers are also expected to pass a short certification test, which really just confirms they know not to exceed certain altitudes, to avoid flying within the vicinity of an airport, to avoid leaving the region's airspace, and to ensure they're aware they MUST use a domesticated Pokémon.

In Galar and Paldea, a much more thorough (and prohibitively expensive) exam is required to obtain a licence, hence the presence of aerial taxis within these regions.

In Fiore, the rules are the absolute strictest, with Flying permits only being granted to Pokémon Rangers, who also must use a bonded Pokémon. Fiore is also the only region which requires permit holders to contact local air traffic control to avoid collisions.

These restrictions don't apply to the Dragonite Shuttle, since it flies a pre-trained route that's already been cleared by the appropriate authorities, however the Dragonite must wear a tracking device to ensure it doesn't veer off course.

Almia is the only region to allow permit holders to fly on wild Pokémon, however as stated in game this is a privilege only extended to Rangers in the upper echelons of Almia's Pokémon Ranger Union.

Oblivia is a free for all because it's the quickest way to island hop and nobody cares enough to regulate it.

Leagues who never really go out as a team unless it's for special occasions: Hoenn, Sinnoh, Kalos, Galar

Are forced to go out as a team regularly by their Champion and it always goes to shit without fail and now one of them is banned from at least two restaurants: Paldea

My thoughts on Fi? Great character, in concept, poor execution in game. I played the wii version when it came out and while i liked her, i wish she would stop me less to tell me very obvious things in the game. Probably would have worked better as a voiced character so she can ramble about whatever without completely interrupting the player. I think they fixed a lot of that in the switch version.

Due to the ethical debate as to whether or not Mega Evolution is painful for the Pokémon involved, most regions have banned it.

Kalos is an outlier in this debate, claiming the legalisation of Mega Evolution in the region is to allow trainers to study its effects on Pokémon to prove once and for all whether it has any negative effect on their physical or mental wellbeing.

Alola, being a region whose League is ran primarily by literal children, just thinks it's cool.

Things that exist outside of the mainline comics that accidentally get used as canon

1. The J brand on Jason’s face

This is specifically from the Arkham-verse, where Joker imprisoned, tortured, and branded Jason. While Arkham Knight only hints at what was done, the associated comics that give us more information about what led up to the events of the game show just how bad it was. That Jason is a broken man and never died.

Also Arkham-verse Joker is the worst. I am not going to be the one to tell you what that that version of Jason discovered he did when right before getting captured. You need to look that up.

2. The crowbar scar on the left side of the face

This was only seen in the Gotham Knights game and associated comics. It’s also media where it states the Lazarus Pits brought him back to life - in most mainline comic runs, that can’t happen unless the person was in the process of dying or had died like a minute ago before getting dipped.

To be honest with you, I like this one. In Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016), Jason tells Artemis he’s upset the Pit got rid of his scars. So, maybe this can be a treat for him.

3. Joker Junior

This was depicted in Batman: Beyond which is in the same universe as The Batman: The Animated Series. This is not in the mainline comics. I also want to point out that Tim from the animated series was basically given Jason’s backstory.

Seeing this used as canon actually enrages me for some reason.
