Things I Want From A Future Tim Drake Vigilante Persona:
- A tech version of a Spoiler-esque face mask. Filters out all of the bad toxins (like Red Hood's) given that HE LACKS A SPLEEN with the bonus extra-disguise.
- The name Doyel[?] (Or Magpie but I know that the name is taken by a Jason-Robin-era villain. References the same bird). Not only is it a *much more subtle* nod to his Robin/Red Robin days, but it can also reference Arthur Conan Doyle - given that Tim canonically could become the next World's Greatest Detective. Without becoming Batman is the biggest detail there.
- Let him leave Gotham. There are enough Gotham heroes now. The Neon Knights are needed everywhere, and it's not like Majority Shareholder Tim doesn't have the money to make that happen.

NEW SELF INSERT!!!
Miss Lolabelle Magpie, Miss Peregrine's new nanny to help look after the children. She's 20, likes shiny things and loves to read and solve puzzles. Like any corvid, she's curious and a little morbid. And yes, I ship her with Miss Peregrine

“Listen up, scrubs,” Tim said. He paced back and forth in front of his bed. His mother often practiced her war room speeches on him before she gave them to the board; his audience included a Robin toy from Bat-Burger, the venerable Mr. Bear, and a Wonder Woman standee cut out from the back of a cereal box. He would make it work.
“You think that man is Batman?” He poked Mr. Bear’s chest. “Wrong! As of now, he’s a man who thinks he’s Batman but is really an uncontrollably violent delulu. Grief has taken away his reason, but he still thinks his behavior is rational. What kinds of behaviors are we talking about, Robin?” Mom always tried to involve her audience, and Tim nodded as if Robin had answered. “That’s right. Putting a man in traction for a purse snatching? ‘Rational.’ A shattered knee for breaking-and-entering? ‘Rational.’ A homeless pickpocket with six broken ribs? Again, totally ‘rational.’”
Tim squared up to his audience, hands on his hips. “You can’t deal rationally with a traumatized man. What you can do is classically and operantly condition him until he’s meeting the behavioral expectations necessary for an active vigilante: Bat-Behaviors, for short. Yes,” he addressed Wonder Woman, “he’ll definitely figure out what we’re doing. We’re not going to be subtle. But the great thing about conditioning someone is that it works even when they know about it.” Who knew that Honors Psych class might actually be useful?
Tim had spent that evening jailbreaking his personal alarm, a safety device his parents had given him when they’d visited the UK. The personal alarm had an ear-shattering volume relative to its tiny size, and the idea, their British liaison had informed them, was that the noise would startle an attacker so you could run away.
(“Backwards twits with their backwards laws,” Dad had grumbled, stashing all of their pepper spray keychains, tasers, and safety batons under the driver’s seat when they got to the airport. He had kept the family gas masks in his carry-on.)
One thing Tim had learned from his years of stalking? Batman had sensitive hearing.
Tim couldn’t exactly shake a No-No Can at him, but noise was a relatively harmless method of punishment and redirection. Rewarding good behavior would work better, of course, but Batman’s current idea of ‘rewards’ seemed to involve breaking people’s bones.
“He’s going to tell us to stop,” Tim told his audience somberly. “The Batman Voice is like an ultra grown-up voice; it makes people not want to argue. Well, we’re not arguing. You can’t argue with, uh…” Craziness. Trauma. Rage. Grief. Probably a terrible kind of pleasure from making other people hurt. “...You can’t argue with big feelings,” Tim summarized. “But behavioral science says consistency will make this work. If we falter, we’ll fail. Are we going to falter?”
Mr. Bear, Robin, and Wonder Woman stared up at him.
“That’s right, team. We’re not. We’re Drakes, and that means we’re going to persist and we’re going to win.”
When Mom finished a practice speech, Tim usually fist-bumped her and gave her a compliment sandwich. In this case, Mr. Bear would probably praise his determination and research skills, Wonder Woman would remark on his lack of physical tactics for handling a full-grown man’s rage, and Robin would encourage him to keep doing his best to help.
Tim spent the rest of the night reviewing his photos. Not for their artistic merit or out of love for his heroes, but to remind himself of Gotham’s bolt-holes and escape routes.
After interrupting Batman’s smashathon with the chorus of “Who Let the Dogs Out” or “Cotton Eye Joe,” Tim would probably have to do some running.

When it's 3 years after the fact and you realize that you accidentally helped a friend name a character Tim Drake.
*facepalm*
To be fair, it's a nickname? But still. When my friend went "hey what should my character Septimus's last name be?"
I said "Drake," because fantasy setting, and it sounds cool, and why not.
It wasn't until later that we got into the whole "Septimus is kind of a mouthful, what would people actually call him?"
And that's when Tim came up as a nickname.
And I put NONE OF THIS ALL TOGETHER until just recently when reading Batfam fics because that's the rabbit hole my current fandom fixation went down via crossover introductions a la dpxdc.
I think I need to go hide in shame now.

Moonflower Murders (2024)
Editor Susan Ryeland is tasked with finding the solution to a real-life cold case hidden within one of Alan Conway's early Atticus Pünd novels.
The sequel to Magpie Murders follows the same quirky style as its predecessor. Initially, it was a bit difficult to get into because there was so much happening at once (and I was also slightly distracted—getting a new mobile phone and spending ages resetting and reinstalling apps was quite time-consuming!). However, it turned out to be a sweet and charming little show in the end, and I hope they make another one. The next book in the series is set to release next year, so we might have a bit of a wait.

I have this idea that each of the Batfam were given nicknames alongside their actual vigilante names by civilians that they do use every now and then. It's either a bird or a type of bat.
Bruce/Batman is obviously just called 'the Bat', probably it SHOULD'VE gone to a more specific species later, but yeah. By the time the Batlings showed up it kind of...... well, it just stuck and stayed.
Dick/Nightwing at first was only called Robin, but as he grew older, they named him 'the Owl' for his silence even in the air. And when some learned that there were evil owl masked assassins (Talons from the Court of Owls) the name became also a rebellion against them, they liked Nightwing better. He's a silent hunter, agile in fight, and idk Owl just fits him.
Jason/Red Hood literally died and came back, so they named him 'the Phoenix'. Also for his fiery nature and how he allegedly (to the civilians) died in an explosion, but came back from the black ground like a phoenix is said to rise from the ashes.
Cass/Black Bat was named 'the Noctule', after the Greater Noctule Bat, since it just fit and also Noctule bats are known to even hunt small birds and THEREFORE are in the same league as them, lining up with how Cass is just as, if not more, dangerous as her siblings.
I also toyed around with calling her Kite after the Black Kite, but she's Bat vibe more than Bird vibe, (even tho in my view all the Birds are still Batlike) so.... yeah.
For Steph/Spoiler, I decided on 'the Magpie'. Magpies are smart, mischievous, and have a habit of spoiling things for others.
I toyed around a bit with Wren, since that could also work for her, but magpies are corvids and corvids are more Gotham, so I chose Magpie.
Tim/Red Robin would get 'the Crow', both for his darker appearance as Robin and Red Robin than the previous two, the calls he lets out sometimes (In some of my AUs) and idk I just came up with it and it unsettlingly fit. So Tim is the Crow. He's smarter than expected and a bit smaller than normal but he can fight, so he is the Crow.
Duke/Signal would get 'the Sunbird'. I checked. There's a bird called the Sunbird. It's way too obvious as to why i call him that so yeah.
He's also called the Day Bat. Cause to me, he's in direct equilibrium to the Bat and Bird thing. All the others lean more towards one side or another, but he's directly 50/50 to me, that's his vibe. So Signal is 'Day Bat' and 'the Sunbird'.
Damian/Robin gets 'the Swift', for the fact that he's small but deadly and fast, and it just fits him idk. Swifts are like..... idk the vibe and all fits. Robin gets the Swift.

Australians all let us rejoice, for we have more TimeBomb AU AU. They live in Melbourne too (don't hate me Sydneysiders but there's no way Ekko would live in a city with shit coffee 😋 and it just works, Silco would absolutely be connected to the Carlton mafia, Ekko's the Melbourne Uni Student Union President, Jinx is the menace of the Engineering department, it works.)
For the non-Aussies (seeing I confused the shit out of you with the Bunnings thing), magpies are highly territorial and swoop in spring. Tim Tams are a delicious chocolate biscuit, and Collingwood is an inner Melbourne suburb whose football team has the magpie as a mascot.

Ooh interesting 😲
the batfam winged au, but with what type of wings i think they would have and why.
Bruce, A Raven obviously, Ravens are intelligent, ominous, and symbolic of mystery and strategy. Their black feathers complement Bruce's dark and brooding persona. Their adaptability and cunning reflect his detective skills and resilience.
Dick, Swallow wings, Swallows often symbolize freedom, loyalty, and speed, matching decently to Dick’s acrobatic grace and free-spirited nature.
Jason, red bearded vulture, vulture wings represent survival and transformation, and death, it could serve to reflect Jason's resurrection and his morality when it comes to death, also i think the way they gain the red coloring on their heads could really match the whole red hood thing.
Tim, Falcon wings, Falcons are sharp-minded hunters, known for precision and problem-solving skills. Tim’s intelligence and meticulous planning fit perfectly with a bird known for its sharp focus, strategy and thinking.
Damian, Peregrine Falcon, Peregrine Falcons are the fastest birds, could symbolize Damian's skill and efficiency as a fighter. assassin, ect.
Barbara, Barn Owl wings, Barn owls are symbols of wisdom and clarity, Their silent flight mirrors Barbara’s resourcefulness and ability to operate from the back as Oracle, The elegance of their wings also suits her graceful and strategic nature.
Cassandra Cain, Black Kite, Black Kites are known for their acrobatic flight and ability to navigate complex environments, reflecting Cass's unparalleled combat skills and agility..
Stephanie Brown, Sparrow wings, sparrows are small but resilient, often underestimated but highly social and adaptable. This matches Stephanie’s determination, optimism, and ability to thrive in the face of challenges.
Alfred, bald Eagle wings, Eagles symbolize guardianship, wisdom, and strength, fitting Alfred’s role as the steadfast protector and father figure to the Batfam. His wings would have a regal presence, emphasizing his quiet but commanding influence, also just would be funny if the British guy had em.
Duke, Golden Eagle wings, Golden eagles are associated with sunlight and strength, aligning with Duke’s role as The Signal, operating during the day. Their wings convey a sense of majesty and independence, neat.
