ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: FREDERIC MALLE — EAU DE MAGNOLIA
disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.
ateez member: yeosang
fragrance family: woody floral
notes:
top — lemon, grapefruit, bergamot
heart — magnolia, vetiver, jasmine, calone
base — oakmoss, patchouli
my scent experience:
it opens very citrusy with the lemon and bergamot, almost like an air freshner in your aunty’s bathroom type of citrus. once it settles, you can definitely smell the magnolia and jasmine but citrus top notes do linger — basically white florals with a little bit of zest. the dry down is still floral but it’s a little earthy, most likely from the oakmoss and I don’t smell the patchouli so that’s good. the best way I could describe this scent is being in a florist and someone wipes down the counter with lysol.
the projection isn’t the best one. you can hardly smell it unless you stick your nose onto your arm or wherever you applied it. the longevity is alright, it lasted for about 3 hours on me which for a Frederic Malle perfume, doesn’t sound too good.
additional notes from me:
the first time I ever smelt this perfume was actually in my hotel room in Milan — the hotel’s hair and body products had used this exact scent. now everytime I smell this perfume, it feels like I’m back in Milan I miss that place so much. I’m so tempted to buy the bottle because it reminds me of the city but I haven’t just yet. I don’t remember the scent being like how I described it but maybe it’s because the concentration differs between the products and if I’m being honest, I’m glad I didn’t buy a bottle. it’s not one that I would reach for unfortunately.
who would I recommend this to?
anyone who likes white florals and citrus perfumes.
those who want something light and are willing to splurge on an expensive fragrance.
anyone who wanted to try Frederic Malle perfumes.
if you’ve made it to the end, thank you for reading this review! this house was one that interested me for the longest time and I’m glad I got to review some of their fragrances before purchasing a bottle. this is also my 10th review! we’ve officially hit the double digits. let me know which fragrances you want me to review next!

everyone lied to me about the bergman brothers these books are kind of bad
#listen!!! this is my fault because i SHOULD HAVE KNOWN after the dumpster fire that is magnolia parks#btw this is nowhere NEAR that bad#but my point is that people say BOTH are just like the addicted series and those people are STUPID#(sorry if you’re reading this and you’ve ever said that. ily)#like magnolia parks was basically unreadable for me i hated it. and i quite enjoy these bergman books so this is an unfair comparison#also i really love chloe liese’s representation and that goes a long way in saving these books tbh#with both series’ i KNEW i OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t enjoy them as much as the addicted series so i tried to manage my expectations#and yet in the back of my heart i secretly hoped i would finally get that same buzz again#it’s obvious to me that any series where each couple has one standalone book will never even come close#i knew what the vibes of this series would be and i was right. it’s still pretty good but the books aren’t Great#i think the 3rd one about the already married couple will be my favorite but maybe another one of these books will surprise me#of course i ordered them all ahead of time like an idiot 🙃 i never do that and i don’t even like the covers#the reviews for the series are so high i just thought there was no chance of it missing#going straight from my hands to the donation box unfortunately#mine#bergman brothers

✿༉ ⸻ magnolia parks by jessa hastings (review)
genre: young adult, fantasy, adventure, a hint of romance published date: 07/31/21 pages: 423 format: paperback, audiobook
start date: 03/27/24 end date: 04/20/24
rating: ★★
spoilers under the cut
I have came to conclusion that I don't think I like mess/messiness in the form of a book, only in the tv shows I watch. It took me so long to get to through this book because of me being a quite slow reader and also work just been treating me like a punching bag, and Magnolia and BJ treated me like another punching back every time I opened the book.
The book caught my interest because someone on TikTok mentioned that it gives off Gossip Girl set in London vibes. If you know me, Gossip Girl is one of my favorite shows (I am one out of maybe 4 people who enjoyed the reboot too lol). If definitely check all the boxes of young adults that was practically born with a silver spoon in their mouths and just basking in the glory of luxury, I adored that vibe. However, the roller coaster of Magnolia and BJ nearly made me internally scream.
One moment they're sharing a bed with each other. The next they're slobbing on someone else to make the other jealous. I felt like as a reader, I was their couple's therapist and neither one of them isn't trying to let me get a word out.
I just felt like the book didn't really have any actual plot other than Magnolia and BJ's toxicity when in reality neither one of them should be dating each other if I'm going to be honest with myself. I would have loved a balance of Lodon elite drama, Magnolia/BJ's relationship drama, and character development for both of them...but it just fell flat for this book.
I am still on the fence on reading the other books apart of the Magnolia Parks universe though.
If you are a sucker for messy storylines and couples, this book is for you. However, it was not my cup of tea.

What better way to come back/start posting again on here than with a review of:
Magnolia Parks
Written By Jessa Hastings
“Yep,” I said. But what I really meant was “I love you, and it’s killing me.”
If you’re here from my insta, heyyyy 🥰 you’ve already seen this one but feel free to look again 😘
I was recommended this series by a close friend of mine but I KNEW what vibes it gave off. I KNEW BJ and Magnolia were very back and forth, that he cheated on her, that their whole vibe was very “if I hurt them, at least I’m still making them feel something for me”. Their relationship is so unbelievably toxic, and since it’s fiction I EAT IT UP, but I totally didn’t expect to! (If you know, I despise miscommunication/cheating tropes 😬)
Honestly, there was not a second of this book where my heart was not falling through my stomach. My chest ached. The ending (I’m not kidding) caused a little…bang hair cut… to happen 😬 yes I was so distraught I gave myself bangs. No I’m not being dramatic.
This series (I know it’s only book 1) might completely change my mind on the whole cheating/miscommunication trope because I fucking love the angst this book is putting me through.

Top 10 songs of 2023, reviewed by yours truly
As per tradition when Spotify Wrapped comes out I write short reviews of the best songs of the year so here we go:
10. One More Time by blink-182
The biggest reveal from the world of pop punk last year was that blink-182 is back... again. First I was a little sceptical especially after hearing Edging but this song, and its video made me listen. The lyrics are about the long lost friendship between Travis, Mark and Tom, and to be completely honest I shed a couple teardrops the first few times I gave it a listen. Amazing song from an amazing record.
9. Homicide by Magnolia Park
I'm completely new to this band, I found this song randomly in an Instagram reel that caught my attention. It's super catchy, almost Linkin Park-ish vibes that is a little "Octanecore" little pop punk, but nevertheless an absolute banger.
8. Jaded by Spiritbox
Spiritbox is the new shit in the scene, everyone and their mom knows about it. But just a little less than a month ago they put out an EP consisting of 6 melodic and heavy bangers called The Fear of Fear. This song stands out from the EP because of the insanely catchy chorus, the breakdown with the clean guitar melody and just the overall feeling of the song. Courtney has always been open about her influences (even and especially the pop ones) and this song is a great example to it.
7. Lost by Linkin Park
On the 20th anniversary of Meteora, Linkin Park released a bunch of unreleased material from the recording session of the legendary album and this was the first single off of it. What more can I say about it? If you haven't heard it despite liking Linkin Park then shame of you.
6. Without A Whisper by Invent, Animate
Another surprise as I've never been a big fan of the band. Not being so into the Deftones-y spacey vibes before, this band always has been a hit or miss. Until Heavener. It's blended so seemlessly that first I didn't even notice that there's now screaming instead of singing with a bunch of reverb. I still almost never skip this song despite Heavener being released earlier this year.
5. Fake Out by Fall Out Boy
This one is probably the only song on the list that is not a single, not even the top 3 from their album So Much (for) Stardust. The boys are officially back and this song proves it, The falsetto hook in the chorus got stuck in my head after the first few listens. I'm really really glad they are back to playing instrumental music because that's what they do best.
4. Might Love Myself by Beartooth
For me this year was about healing. Healing from a past breakup, losing my previous job, and just in general the depressing reality of adulthood. After hearing the first singles from the latest Beartooth album it was obvious that Caleb, the singer for the band had been through a similar journey prior to writing this record. This song stands out for me because of the overwhelmingly positive self-loving lyrics that are a must-listen when you have been through a lot of shit. I also like the little "whoo" before the second chorus, it really makes it sound like Caleb had a lot of fun recording it.
3. Haunted by Spanish Love Songs
The most underrated band on the list by a landmile. Also probably the most depressing band I've ever listened to, which says something. The whole new record No Joy has some really interesting musical changes from the previous ones, there's less screaming, less distorted guitars, it has more of a The Killers vibe than something off tumblr's 2015 pop punk hardcore best of (looking at you The Story So Far). Haunted is a bittersweet tune about being nostalgically sad about the old days, and for an old fart that is closer to 30 than to 20 it's a comforting thing that I'm not alone with this feeling.
2. LosT by Bring Me The Horizon
What do you get when you mix 'I'm not Okay' and current era Bring Me The Horizon? That's right, this fucking banger. I think throughout the year this song was the only one that I've never skipped. The pop punk-emo feeling is in every note, the breakdown is easily my most favorite of the year, the callout for it is even. "I think i'm gonna break down". Fucking genius by the most dynamic songwriting duo of the music scene, Oli and Jordan. The powerpop elements are also fun to listen to, it just blends really well. 10/10 banger, looking forward to the EP.
Ascensionism/Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token
The biggest band of the year was 100% Sleep Token. My Spotify was POSSESSED by their music this year, so obviously it was a tough choice to pick a song from their latest album so I cheated a little with the longest, most progressive songs of the record. Their music feels like a religious experience for me and the best example to this is Ascensionism, the "YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEAR" line hits, the rap part fits perfectly, the guitars are heavy as balls, the piano intro is the perfect introduction, it's a 12/10 song, it's that good
And honestly I have the same feelings about Take Me Back to Eden. The titular song and its callbacks to Chokehold made me feel like I'm in a chokehold myself. The epitome of great songwriting was when from the nature sounds through rapping we got to the heaviest, low tuned breakdown of the last couple years
So there you have it, my personal top 10+1 list. If you read my review this far, thank you.

📽️ Midnight at the Magnolia (2020)
I was trying to figure out why I had no recollection of this movie, then I realized it’s because it’s a Christmas movie. I remember watching it now, though. It’s not a Hallmark movie, but it might as well be. It definitely has the same vibes. This is a classic friends-to-lovers story. It’s complete with cringey dialogue, corny jokes, and -you guessed it- bad acting. Look, no one is watching Hallmark-type movies for the acting and storyline. These movies are designed to be cheesy and easy to watch. They require no deep thought because they’re made to just enjoy. And this one definitely fits that category.
Sex/nudity: 1/10 (kissing)
Language: 1/10 (maybe some OMGs)
Violence: 0/10 (don’t remember any)
Overall rating: 7/10
