ATEEZ SMALL PERFUME REVIEW: CREED — AVENTUS

disclaimer: this is not meant to be a serious perfume review, this is something fun for me to do as I love perfume. each and every one of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to fragrances. what works for me might not work for you, vice versa. I’ll try my best to describe the scents but I will always suggest for you to go and smell them yourself before purchase. if you want to try these perfumes, please test or get a sample before committing to the bottle. picture credits to all owners.

top — lemon, pink pepper, apple, bergamot, blackcurrant

heart — pineapple, jasmine, patchouli (indonesia)

base — birch, ambroxan, cedarwood, oakmoss, musk

my scent experience:

the first notes I smelt were the base notes of birch and ambroxan. I don’t know exactly what ambroxan is but it smells like strong aftershave intensified. I do smell the fruity notes of pineapple and apple in the beginning but they fade away quickly. it dries down to this woody but weird chemically aftershave scent that is just not pleasant on the nose. the scent is on the cleaner side as well which gave me a headache later on.

it’s safe to say that I don’t like this perfume. I remember everyone in the fragrance community talk about how much they love Aventus it’s creed’s best seller but when I smelt it for the first time, I was not into it. and before anyone starts gaslighting me in the tags, just remember we all have different preferences in perfume. not to mention, I’ve tried to gaslight myself into liking this fragrance for years and I still can’t convince myself to like it.

additional notes from me:

this is in my top 5 list of red flag perfumes for men. if you wear this perfume, I will do anything to stay away from you no matter how much money you have. I’m not saying that Hongjoong is a red flag but his choices in perfume is something else. I’ve also heard stories of creed perfumes being inconsistent, some batches being good while some smelt horrible and they’re quite expensive. that is a quality control issue and hopefully they’ve resolved it because I can’t imagine spending so much on a perfume and you don’t even know if you got a decent bottle.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes the smell of aftershave.

those who want to smell like a red flag but with money.

anyone who wants to try creed perfumes.

if you’ve made it to the end, thank you for reading this review! not my most positive review but I’d rather be honest with you and there will be fragrances in the market that won’t work for everyone. hopefully this doesn’t discourage you from trying it as who knows? this perfume might work for you. I still suggest for you to test it out even if others don’t like it since fragrance is so subjective. hope you enjoy reading my reviews regardless of whether it’s a positive or negative review.

rose, blackcurrant buds, petitgrain, blackcurrant leaves

my scent experience:

the fragrance opens very earthy, I’m guessing from the petitgrain, and blackcurrant leaves as it smells like wet leaves. it reminds me of the smell of petrichor and the leaves after it rains. as it settles, it still smells earthy but the rose is very present, so you smell like a lush garden. the dry down surprisingly was light and sweet from the blackcurrants and the scent is similar to their popular Baies candle. I said surprisingly as I hardly come across lighter fruity notes in the dry down. think of it as an earthy wet rose scent that becomes a little sweet later on.

the projection is okay, it’s quite subtle so if you’re looking for something that stands out, this isn’t for you. as this is an edt, the longevity isn’t that long, lasting approximately 3 hours on me. if you like or are familiar with their Baies candle, you might like this one. I personally wouldn’t call this a fruity floral but more of a green floral scent so don’t purchase this thinking it’s a fruity and summery concoction I don’t really trust fragrantica.

additional notes from me:

I think of Wooyoung as someone who likes clean and herbaceous scents that aren’t too strong (according to his collection) so I was a little surprised that he has this in his collection, but Yeosang bought it for him as a gift so it kinda made sense as to why he has it. it’s on the sweeter side of Diptyque’s perfume catalogue but it still has that green scent that just screams Diptyque to me. I’ve been getting into earthy scents as of lately and I’ll always be a fruity perfume girl at heart so combining the two was while an interesting experience, I do like how it smelt throughout the time I wore it and would consider purchasing a bottle — maybe the edp for longevity.

who would I recommend this to?

anyone who likes earthy and floral scents.

those who like their best-selling Baies candle and want a perfume version of that.

anyone who wants to try out Diptyque fragrances.

Pink Perfume

Short & Sweet, love at first sight.

This is pure fluff with very little angst if you squint.

This is short and sweet.

Fresh citrus, water, and green notes. Refreshing, zesty, and vibrant smells. Fresh green fragrances are often reminiscent of herbal and leafy scents for a crisp, uplifting smell he thought.

Florals, Floral fragrances are one of the most popular families and one of the broadest. Any fragrance that has a sweet and flowery scent will belong under this family, using notes such as roses, jasmine, lilies, and peonies. Floral fragrances can range from being light and delicate, to more complex and intense.

Oriental fragrances are warm, sweet, and even a little spicy. A more luxurious fragrance family, oriental fragrances vary from floral oriental, soft oriental, and woody oriental.

Perfumes and aftershaves in this family are rich and sensual, often made with interesting notes of cardamom, cinnamon, and vanilla alongside the likes of jasmine, orchid, and orange blossom. Woody fragrances are another warm family, with a mysterious and captivating scent that is often favored amongst aftershaves in particular. Using wood-based smells like cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, and amber, it’s a great choice for wearing in the evening. Woody fragrances are split into mossy woods with an earthy, sweet undertone, and dry woods which often have a smoky, leathery smell to them.

Doyoung told this to himself every day when he saw her. She traveled down the street every day at twelve until she passed by him and his shop until she passed again at twelve-thirty. There he stood every day holding a pink little bottle of perfume. And every day she passed him he tried to figure out what perfume she was wearing. Sometimes she smelt like Jasmine, other days she smelled like vanilla.

He wondered what scent was created to make her smell so perfect, so enticing. He never spoke to her. She was the scent of his fantasies. The other boys in the store noticed their friend standing outside every day at twelve with a sample perfume bottle in his hand offering it to people. He never offered it to her, he figured based on her glorious sent she didn't need it.

So at twelve when he grabbed a sample bottle of their newest perfume he rushed outside making sure not to drop the glass bottle on the way out. The door chimed jingling as he stepped outside in the warm summer air. He saw her from afar, just up the block, this time with a friend wrapped around her arm.

She giggled next to her friend wearing a pretty floral dress. Her friend wearing something similar to her. She looked different. Usually, she would wear dress pants or skirts with a blouse use, and her hair was always wrapped up. She sometimes looks stressed and completely over her life.

Today she looked bright and alive, it warmed his heart. All the color in her face was restored. She walked closer to where he stood. The boys in the store watched from behind the counter to see if he would finally talk to her. Doyoung gulped working his courage to offer her a smell of their perfume. She had already started walking past Doyoung, not noticing his arm extending out to her to ask her a question.

Her friend instead stopped eyeing the perfume shop then the little bottle in Doyoung’s hand. She took hold of her friend's elbow nodding to the shop. The discount sign at the bottom also caught her eye.

"Can we go inside? I need a new perfume bottle," She asked and the girl nodded with a smile. "Yeah it smells good in there," she said. Doyoung's eyes followed her inside. Holding the door open for the two ladies.

The girl with the loose hair stepped in first who’s Doyoung’s eyes followed. He went behind the counter Jungwoo taking his place outside and the pink bottle from his hands. He watched the girl whose name he learned through over hearing her conversations was Jasmine. Jasmine watched her friend pick up different bottles and place them back down. She glanced at the perfumes but didn’t pick one.

Jaehyun went over to help her friend smiling every time she sprayed the light little pink bottle of perfume on a piece of white paper and brought it to her nose. His dimples were on display every time she smiled. Holding the bottle in her hands she sprayed it onto the paper smelling it. She nodded letting Jaehyun know this would be the bottle she would take. Jaehyun smiled taking the sample from her hands and fetching the fresh perfume for her.

Jasmine walked away letting her friend talk with Jaehyun, she walked over to the cologne. With a suspicious brow, Doyoung stepped away from the counter and to Jasmine clearing his throat and relaxing his body.

“Do you need any help?" he asked her disguising his nerves with a warm smile. His fingers shook behind his hands. This was the first time he ever spoke to her. She was even prettier up close and smelled just like he remembered she smelled yesterday. Jasmine nodded lifting her arm to grab a sample bottle of cologne and then another. Just as she picked up the second one Doyoung noticed the engagement ring on her finger. His smiled faded feeling a pinch in his heart. No wonder her eyes never met his. She was in love with another.

Doyoung felt his world crash. He felt nothing but defeat. His lips formed a small frown. He tried to look away from her eyes. Glancing over at Jaehyun chuckling with Jasmine’s friend. He watched the pair seeing her friend talk to Jaehyun and laugh at his terrible jokes. He looked at the front door seeing a girl walk up to Jungwoo with a bright smile. It seemed like everyone was having some sort of good luck, but him.

"Which one would you recommend? I'm getting married soon and my fiance needs a new cologne. I want to surprise him," she said excitedly. He shook his head. Jasmine had pulled him from his thoughts. He cleared his throat wiping his hands on his pants. He felt less nervous to talk to her now.

Doyoung smiled pointing to the bottle in her right hand. "That one is my favorite, I'm sure he'll love it," he said smiling through his pain. His heart wasn't broken, he had just discovered her name five minutes ago. But his excuse to leave at twelve every day would now have a different meaning. Jasmine started to fade from his fantasy. He brought her to the counter and scanned her item. He bagged it for her and treated her like any other customer. Once she finished you came from behind her holding a unopen bottle of perfume in your hand.

Doyoung sighed when he took the bottle from your hands fingers brushing over each other. He didn't pay much attention to your face until you made a noise. "Ah no. The box is open," you said seeing a piece of the tape broken. Doyoung looked away from your face and at the box. He opened it checking the bottle. The bottle was untouched. You chewed on your lip frustrated. That was the last bottle in the store.

"I promise it was like that," you said worried he thought you tried to steal it. He hadn't spoken since you got to the counter. He looked back at your face, eyes still not meeting his. Until you felt a gaze on you. When you looked up your eyes brushed with his. Wonder in his eyes and worry in yours.

"I promise I didn't" you reassured. Doyoung shook his head a small smile on his lips. "I believe you, it's alright," he began placing a new piece of tape on the box. He handed you the box without scanning it. You widened your eyes holding it in your hand. He took out a bag took it from you and placed it inside. "Take it," he said with a warm smile.

"Really?" you asked surprised. He nodded taking another look into your eyes. You were easier to talk to you and you were just as beautiful as Jasmine, maybe even prettier and you happened to pick his favorite perfume off the shelf. The one he held every day from twelve to twelve-thirty you were buying the last one. Maybe that time did have a different meaning.

You smiled taking the bag. You bowed your head at him. "Thank you," you said leaving with a small wave. He watched you walk away reality hitting him. He couldn't let you walk away. He couldn’t let you turn into a twelve o’clock fantasy like Jasmine was. He wouldn't be quiet this time. And it was clear you hadn’t shown much interest in Jaehyun. He had asked you for your number but you rejected him.

He ran after you. You weren’t even half way down the block yet. The wine breezes through his dark hair, cheeks flushed when he finally reached you. The small bag he gave you hanging on your wrist. He tapped your shoulder. You turned around Jasmine hadn't realized you stopped and kept walking continuing her story to no one.

"I'm sorry I don't mean to chase after you," he chuckled through breaths. You also chuckled. "But, I wanted to know if I could have your number?" he asked squinting his eyes from the sun. You nodded taking your phone out of your purse. "Sure," you said handing him your phone. He handed you his and you put in your number. He read the contact name.

“Your name is Y/n?" he asked. You nodded checking his name. "Nice to meet you too Doyoung," you said putting your phone back in your bag. He smiled waving your contact. “I’ll text you,” he said with a smile. You copied his motion. “I’d like that,” you responded. Jasmine who eventually stopped walking and watched the encounter between you two walked back up the block and waited for you off to the side.

“Y/n I hate to break this but we have a rehearsal,” she said with a apologetic smile. You nodded letting out a sigh. “Sorry I have to go, wedding rehearsal,” you shrugged. Doyoung nodded understandingly.

“But I get out at twelve,” you said Doyoung’s head picking back up. He smiled again fixing the small bag around your wrist. “Then I’ll call you and if you want I can take you out,” he said rather bold, but not overwhelming.

“That sounds nice,” you responded. Then you began to walk away sending him a small wave. “I have to go and I look forward to your call,” you said jokingly. He chuckled waving you goodbye placing his hands in his pocket. He watched as you walked away safely only walking back up the street when you turned the corner.

Once you turned the corner he went back to the shop and waited until around twelve to call you.
