61.
Think back to yesterday, what were you doing around this time? I think I was in bed, just falling asleep.
What was the last thing you watched on the TV? Lots. Caught up on You and Sweet Magnolias, then there was Apple Cider Vinegar, American Murder: Gabby Petito, The Search For Instagram's Worst Con Artist, each currently available episode of Love Is Blind season 8, and I currently have the fourth episode of the current season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit paused in the top right corner of my screen as I was watching it before doing this.
Do you think pets can get annoying easily? I mean, I ended up choosing the highest energy, most confident, rambunctious, smart, curious, cheeky, sassy, funny kitten/cat I could have gotten, but I don't regret it a bit. It was a learning curve, for sure, as she's my first cat and the first pet who's all mine that I've raised, but she's got the biggest personality ever and we've settled into a routine together and are practically inseparable. They just need love, attention, patience. It's all part of owning an animal. If I hadn't put a lot of thought into it and been prepared/wasn't ready, I wouldn't have taken her.
Did you know that pickles have no calories? There's almost no such thing as no calories. If something is under a certain amount of calories, companies can label it as no/zero calories.
Do you enjoy family get togethers? No, but I put on a good face for them when I take part.
In a group of three, do you often feel like the third wheel? Not really. I have two friends and they know each other but don't hang out together and we don't all hang out with each other. Family functions or anything like that there's always more than three people there, so I don't really experience that in those situations. If I'm in a group of three it's usually me, one of my friends and one of their kids. There's no reason to feel like a third wheel in that scenario. I think the last group of three I was in may have been when I met my cousin's boyfriend when we had to go pick him up. He's very social and nice and doesn't make me feel stupid or exclude me from the conversation so I had no reason to feel like that. He's traveled a lot and has a ton of interesting stories and really made me laugh. I enjoyed hanging out with him.
What color are your pants?
I'm wearing a hoodie and a pair of men's boxer shorts. They're blue plaid.
Is there snow on the ground where you are? Omg yes, ugh. We recently got like 40 cm. :/
What is keeping you warm right now? My hoodie, and I've had the electric fireplace on for a little bit.
Has anyone bought you a piece of jewelry? Yes.
How far away is your next birthday? 12 days. :/
Do you have plans for that birthday yet? I assume I'll be alone. If my assumption is correct, then I'll be alone and hopefully sleeping through most of it.
When did you last take a shower? This morning. Well, I guess yesterday morning now, since it's passed midnight.
Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon? No, one of my neighbours has and told me about it, though. I'd love to go.
Have you ever flown somewhere alone? No. I can't travel completely alone because of my disability.
Are you more serious or funny? I'm both extremely funny and extremely serious, depending on what's appropriate.
Is there someone that annoys you but you haven’t told them? Yeah, I don't always say everything that pops into my head about everything and everyone. I don't think anyone really does, even those who are often considered to have no filter. No one is saying what they think every second in every interaction.
When is garbage day in your area? Tuesday, but I have a hard time getting to the communal garbage shed with mine, so maintenance takes what bags I've tied up and set in the hall, as well as what's in my recycle bins, on Mondays, then takes everything that was thrown out by other tenants in the bins in the shed to the road to be picked up on Tuesdays.
Who/What was the last thing to really irritate you? The fact that my chair's brakes are fucked and need adjusting/fixing to hold me over until I can order a whole new set.
Do you think people either love or hate spongebob? I don't think it's that deep. I'm sure a lot of people are neutral. I know I am.
Have you seen that new “Lie To Me” show? I'm almost positive I've heard of it or seen something about it somewhere, but I've not watched it. I could be thinking of the wrong thing, though.
What is something you’d rather be doing right now? I'd rather be in my bed next to my girlfriend.
Do you find that people are too hard on you? I definitely feel that way about some people, yeah. Though, I wouldn't put it like that. Moreso that they're cold/cruel/narcisisstic/judgemental/lacking understanding/empathy.
Do you take surveys often? I have spurts where I take quite a few at one time/over several days, and then stretches where I haven't really taken too many. I think this one is my first in about four or five days? I don't remember exactly. I was really sick for a couple days though. I had another bout of cluster migraines and was throwing up sooo much. Couldn't really do anything except get out of bed when I had to go to the bathroom and even that was a chore and made me extra dizzy and motion sick. Dealing with migraines is bad enough on its own. Add a physical disability on top of them and it's like... Fuuuuck. Stupidest things ever. I wish they didn't exist. Thank godddd I'm in an adapted apartment where everything is easy for me to do for myself. Doubly thankful that I'm STAYING and don't have to worry about moving anymore. HOPEFULLY not for a long time yet.
Do you tend to slam things around when you’re mad? Nooo, this is so triggering to me. I can't stand it and can't stand to be around it.
Do you know anyone who hates/dislikes chocolate? Nobody in my immediate circle.
Could you vote in this last election? I've been able to vote for almost fifteen years.
Do you have more girl friends or guy friends? Women. I don't have any male friends at this point in my life. Not because I have anything against it, it just so happens that I don't.
What is your current mood? Mellow. I'm starting to get a bit sleepy, but not enough to get into bed just yet.
Is there anything on your mind at the moment? Wondering if my brother will actually come help me rectify my brake situation this weekend before his surgery next week and thinking that I have to send him a reminder text about it tomorrow, cause he asked me to.
Are there any movies out that you’d like to see? I wanted to go see Brave the Dark with Brittany, but life got in the way, so now that I don't have to move, we're just gonna do a movie night here when it's available to stream since she has to take me to run an errand in the foreseeable future anyway after she starts her new job.
Have you ever been on a website called Stickam? No. I have no idea what that even is.
Have you ever hated yourself? Oh honey, how much time do you have? Lmfao. It's not necessarily something I can speak of in past tense...
Are you hungry? No, but I don't have that disgustingly full feeling either. I'm just right.
Did your parents ever ground you? Yes.
Where was the last place you went out to eat? It must have been when my cousin and I went to Kelsey's? I don't even remember. If that's right, that was months ago. I don't usually get to leave the house/go out often.
Have you ever felt like you needed a better life than the one you have? (TW?) I mean yeah, I'm disabled and my twin who was born literally a minute after me is completely healthy. We have very different lives and had vastly different upbringings in a lot of ways. I don't enjoy my life. I don't want it. I would 100% rather be dead and I wish the doctors hadn't saved me. I've maintained this basically all my life. It hasn't had a lot of freedom or joy or happiness or ease, but I've made it through and done the best I can for myself. I try to remind myself to be proud, even if my best doesn't look or seem like much to outsiders.
Do you own an MP3 player of some kind? I haven't had one in years. All my music is in Spotify Premium on my tablet.
Do you have a moment in your life you wish you could replay over again? A few I wish I could relive once or twice, but I don't think I'd want to replay or relive them continually.
Have you ever been in a play? If so, did you like it? I have been in several. Theatre/musical theatre used to be a huge part of my life in my school days. I miss it terribly.
What is one musical artist you wish wasn’t making music? I don't waste my time judging who I think "shouldn't be making music". If I don't vibe with something, I don't listen to it and focus on the music I do like.
When was the last time you cleaned something? A few hours ago. I clean my apartment every day.
Have you ever been so sick you had to be taken to the hospital? More than once.
Do you like your smile? No.
Do you have someone that you think truly understands you? I had my Nan, but she's dead. My girlfriend is definitely it, now. No one will ever know me like she does.
When was the last time you doubted yourself? I don't know, I doubt myself in some way or other just about every day.
Is there anything currently bothering you? Yes.
Would you say that you’ve got something ‘special’ about you? I don't believe so.
Who was the last person to cheer you up when you were down? One of my neighbours knocked on my door the other night and gave me leftovers of the homemade spaghetti she had made for dinner. Such a nice gesture and it was fucking good!
Are you scared of what you do not know? This is vague. It definitely depends on what the unknown is and the context of the situation. Sometimes I'm terrified of what I don't know, sometimes I'm confused by it, sometimes I'm intruiged or curious.
Is there anything in the next six months that you’re looking forward to? Not really. Not yet anyway. Hopefully I'll have at least a few things to look forward to this summer.
Were you/are you popular in high school? Pffft, no.
Do you really care what people think about you? Generally not, no.
Do you find yourself treating others like you’d want to be treated? I try my best.
Are you constantly envious of others? I am very much envious of my twin, of other able bodied people, people who can have children.
Are you more of a whiner with things or a do’er of things? Both?
List three of your favorite TV shows: Army Wives, You, Me, Her, Wynonna Earp.
Would your friends say you’re a relaxed person or stressed? The ones who know me well would say I'm highly anxious when there's a reason to be stressed.
What do you find yourself worrying most about these days? Oh you know... *Gestures vaguely at everything* this.
Would you say it’s hard to earn your trust? Absolutely. I don't trust others easily at all.
Who was the last person to compliment you? My girlfriend, I think. Either that or one of the neighbours when she said she liked my plaid leggings.
Anything interesting happen this past week? Not really.
What’s on your mind this very second? That I'm kind of thirsty and I have to pee when I'm done this.
Do you know the difference between ‘your’ and ‘you’re’? Of course.
Do you correct other people’s grammar/spelling when talking to them online? In casual conversation? No. This is obnoxious.
Is bacon one of your favorite foods? I enjoy it occasionally, but it's not a top favourite, no.
Are you one of those people who like to sleep in on the weekends? My sleep schedule is not always consistent, but sometimes on weekends I do sleep late.
Do you like things Vampire related? No.
Have you ever cussed at a parent or teacher? Yes.
When was the last time you saw snow? Now.
Have you ever felt stupid after saying something? Yes.
Do you find yourself cold at the moment? No.
Are your nails currently long? Nope.
Are you the kind of person who does not like talking about their past? Depends who I'm around, but I don't open up easily and keep a lot from a lot of people.
Do you have long slender fingers or short chunky ones? Long and slender.
Do you think your foot size fits your body type? No, I have a condition secondary to my greater disability that causes constant swelling to varying degrees.
Are you the competitive type? Not at all.

Elements: Water Edition

About the water element: The water element has much to do with emotions, healing, and the subconscious mind. Like water, emotions are fluid and ever-changing. Some other common themes attributed to or represented by water are courage, cleansing, fertility, sleep, psychic abilities, and self-reflection.
Water in magic: water is often used as a form of cleansing, and is also common in magical workings having to do with love, friendship, and dreams. Rainwater, snow water, rosewater, dew, hail water, sea water, river water and even blessed water are all commonly used. Water may be sprinkled, splashed, or bathed in as needed in spells. Ritual baths are quite common. Submerging something in water can help to banish or release it, similar to burning it. Some witches will run water over sigils as a means to activate them.
Forms of water include: Liquid water, ice, water vapor, snow.
Some water spirits include: Undines and mermaids.
Color: Blue
Direction: West
Tools: Goblet, chalice, cauldron, mirror.
Tarot suit: Cups
Zodiac signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
Symbol:

Water in daily life: It's no secret that we all need water to survive, and that we take in water all day every day, whether we drink it directly or recieve it through food and other drinks. In fact, the human body is over 70% water. In other aspects of life, sometimes it is rainy, snowy, foggy, or just humid outside. Sometimes we go to the lake, the beach, the river, the creek, the pool, even the water park. It all depends on what is in your area, but regardless of what is there, it is known that many people experience a call towards bodies of water and water itself. Most people will tell you that they take baths to relax, they get all their great ideas im the shower, or that the worst part of a shower is getting out. Many people have known the peace of floating on the calm surface of a large enough body of water. Even kissing, really, is an exchange of water.
Water in the home: On the more obvious side of things, a home usually has showers, bathtubs, sinks, and even toilets to bring water into their daily lives in some way. Less obvious is mirrors, which are a symbol of water. Some people will have small, decorative fountains in their homes. Some will have a humidifier in their room. Others will have a duck pond outside. These are all sources of the water element. A daily act that usually uses the element of water is cleaning. Cleansings in general are associated with water, but chores like cleaning household appliances, mopping, and doing the dishes all use water directly.
Water in the kitchen: Boiling, blanching, poaching, and braising are all cooking methods that utilise the element of water. However, there are also many foods that are associated with the water element. These include~
Apples, avocadoes, bananas, blackberries, cabbage, capers, cauliflower, cranberries, celery, lentils, limes, cherry, coconut, cucumber, grape, lemon, lettuce, soy milk, sesame oil, safflower oil, coconut oil, papaya, peach, pear, strawberry, mozzarella, goat's milk, feta cheese, cottage cheese, bleu cheese, tamarind, tomato, vanilla, apricot, butter, fish, octopus, shellfish, butternut squash, white wine, apple cider vinegar, milk, plums, pomegranates, sugar, sweet potatoes, zucchini, agave syrup, seaweed, melons, tea, raspberries, and of course regular drinking water.
Herbs associated with water: Aloe, camphor*, magnolia*, yew*, camellia*, birch, cardamom, salt, catnip, chamomile, wolfsbane*, sweet pea*, sandalwood*, elder*, gardenia, geranium, hibiscus, poppy*, periwinkle*, jasmine, licorice, lilac, lily*, myrrh*, morning glory*, ivy*, iris*, hyacinth*, lobelia*, lotus, mustard, myrtle*, hemlock*, foxglove*, eucalyptus*, passionflower, rose, skullcap, spearmint, daisy*, daffodil*, belladonna*, slippery elm*, tansy*, thyme, valerian, violet, willow, wintergreen*, yarrow.
Stones associated with water: Aquamarine, blue tourmaline, pearl, coral, blue topaz, flourite.
Animals associated with water: Whale, dolphin, turtle, fish, swan, frog, cat, crab.
Incense: Lotus, sandalwood, myrrh, mugwort, vanilla, violet, jasmine, raspberry, hibiscus.
Water on the altar ideas: A bowl or cup of water, a chalice, a bowl of sea salt, a seashell, seaglass, blue ribbons or cloth.
Divination with the water element: Scrying bowls; scrying mirrors.
Water work for spoonies:
Keep a humidifier in your home
Use blue pillowcases, blankets, sheets, curtains, or wall decorations
Wear something blue
Decorate with blue ribbons
Keep a bowl of water out
Take a bath, wash your face, or just use a mister on yourself
*Some herbs are unsafe or even deadly to ingest and can be dangerous to use. ALWAYS do research.

Hungover in the City of Dust Part 2
CW: depictions of broken bones, drug use (via the HEV suit), mentions of former sexual partners, guns, consumption of alcohol
Flashback with us to the year 2000 where Gordon is a useless bisexual with a huge ass crush and hasn't yet been fucked around with by eldritch abominations with briefcases
also featured: a section that looks vaguely like a songfic, do you guys remember songfics? wow so old
part one is here read below for part two
He broke his arm, he thinks. Looking down at it does nothing to help him determine this because it's in the HEV suit, but it's also in the HEV suit at a very inhuman angle. He's not that kind of doctor, so he doesn't know, but again he's pretty sure. The refrain of 'morphine administered' hums through and he staggers a bit.
Dr. Cross' voice says something, and he is forced to loop his finger in the air to get her to repeat herself, her understanding of ASL isn't as strong as some of the other AnMat members but he can get his point across easy enough.
"I asked if you wished to stop the simulation, Dr. Freeman."
He shakes his head.
It takes a further half an hour of training and the chemicals that the suit chooses to pump him with cause him to vomit up his lunch but they clear it.
He is beaming with pride, his arm in a sling when he meets an off-duty Barney Calhoun at the bar in the town above ground and a bus-ride away. The one Barney loved most, with the fake UFO constructed on the roof and the bigfoot pictures on the walls.
"Hole-lee shit, what happened to you, doc?"
Gordon makes him order him a drink from the bar and return before he signs out a heavily edited version of events, the REDACTED blanks nearly hang in the air between them.
But I'll be fine in a few days, it's not as bad as it looks.
Barney takes a sip of his PBR and Gordon's eyes immediately track the way his throat works around it, the wide-breadth of his chest in the plain black t-shirt he's wearing. Due to experience with Barney's limited wardrobe he knows he's wearing the same worn Levis he always wears, and that his uniform boots are what those jeans are tucked into.
Gordon reaches out and drags the menu of bar appetizers over in front of him even though he has it memorized at this point. Something to do with his eyes that isn't stare at Barney Calhoun like an idiot.
He sips his hard apple cider and listens to Barney give him a less redacted version of his day's events - the usual, who locked themselves out of their office, who stole whose lunch, who broke the elevator. Gordon snorted and stopped him, holding his hand up.
The elevator just hangs so whoever hits the button is not who breaks it, Barn.
He could finger-spell Barney, he could, but using the English Sign for Barn/Shed the first time had caused Barney to laugh so hard he choked, so he's done it since.
"I don't know doc, I think it's a pretty good working hypothesis."
Gordon laughs again, the same huffy silent breath, the sound makes Barney's eyes light up, his frankly devastatingly attractive face break out in a sweet smile.
No more hypotheticals from you.
Gordon touches him, a lot maybe, the more drinks he gets in him the more tactile he gets, eventually he slides into the same booth as Barney when he comes back from the bathroom, makes an excuse about how it will be easier for him to see the book Barney has bought from the similarly themed book-store next door to the bar. He laughs at the bad science, points it out and corrects it, and makes Barney laugh or huff and try badly to defend whatever not-a-scientist researcher has to say. Barney holds his PBR, cheap-ass fake piss water for babies, far more than Gordon holds his alcoholic apple juice for toddlers, so that when they do hitch the bus back to the compound, Barney has Gordon's arm slung around his shoulders.
Barney doesn't live in the underground, but he follows Gordon all the way to his rooms - or rather he shepherds him all the way there, together they manage with the door lock mechanism and despite it being a massive breach of security, it's Barney who inputs the numerical code to open the door in the end when Gordon can't seem to manage.
Deposited on the cheap mass-produced couch, Gordon kicks off his shoes and pulls his khaki-clad legs underneath himself while Barney messes around in the tiny kitchenette. Gordon had worked himself up to having the seniority enough to get his own kitchenette, it was a crowning achievement here at Black Mesa. Even if you didn't cook for shit, having a kitchenette meant you were considered a vital enough investment to be allowed a heating element in your dorm that wasn't a coffee maker.
It was a bit like perpetually living in a motel, when one thought about it. Less the college life and more hundreds of identical suites.
Barney crashes down next to him and shoves a glass of water at Gordon's chest. It doesn't manage to slosh and Gordon notes that Barney has even politely put a neon-pink bendy straw in it just for him.
He sips the water obediently and Barney puts his feet up on the coffee table.
He wants very badly to turn Barney's face toward him, to see that soft please smile up close. He wants even more to press forward, chase the taste of blue ribbon from the edges of his lips, follow deeper. He wants to drag his hands - or hand as the case may be tonight - over Barney's broad chest, the softness of his stomach, the stretch of his shoulders. Maybe five years ago he would have. If he'd met Barney when he was in college, not that it was at all likely seeing as Barney went to school on the entire opposite side of the country but still. Definitely not now that Barney was, is, the best friend he's ever had.
They'd hit it off like wild-fire from day one, Barney getting his dry and dark humor and Gordon obliging his conspiracy theories and charming warmth. A few months in and Barney had invited him to sneak onto a roof in the middle of the night, Gordon had come, half expecting Barney to confront him on Gordon's feelings. Instead there had been a cooler of beer, a blanket stretched out on the ground, and Barney's grin. Gordon told him the names of constellations and Barney made some up. UFO watching, except it's mostly star-gazing, and Barney didn't confront him, hasn't yet, but he also hasn't closed the distance between them either.
Gordon isn't open about his sexuality, but he's had boyfriends and girlfriends both, and one memorable night in which he had been propositioned at a bar by a couple and had ended up the very intimate meat in a sandwich.
When he puts the water glass down and reaches out to rest his hand upon Barney's arm, the guard turns his gaze from the ceiling to Gordon's face - his smile still easy and open.
He's a coward, he doesn't move in, he doesn't press his lips to Barney's smile, doesn't trace the curve with his tongue.
Gonna head to bed, you can camp on the couch if you want.
"Thanks Gord, I think I will." Barney pats him on the leg, makes him take the water to the bedroom with him.
He finishes half of the water while he sways on his feet, undressing and leaving the clothes he strips to the floor. He puts the arm sling on the bedside table and studies the bruising on his mending arm. The bone had been a clean break and a cleaner thing to heal for the mess of chemicals and other things. He didn't pretend to think he understood what it was that Black Mesa was working with that could heal a broken bone. Or where they got the samples they worked with in AnMat. He wasn't paid to think about where anything came from, only to get excited over the prospect of working with it, and he was - is. His college thesis has already been expanded on here, exponentially. There is so much to observe, so much to theorize on and then potentially prove or disprove.
He loves his job, really he does, he knows he is honored to be working here.
But breaking a bone hurts like a bitch. He curls up on his side and clicks off the light, remembers to remove his glasses only after he's already smashed them into his face via the pillow. He thinks about Barney removing his boots and jeans in the other room, about the months they've spent going to that bar or sneaking places they probably shouldn't. Lauren Calhoun hugging him and thanking him for keeping her brother out of trouble. It was her birthday soon, Gordon knew because Barney was at a loss for what to get her. Gordon's suggestion of flowers had been taken well, he only hoped Barney knew what she was and wasn't allergic to.
Gordon is allergic to dandelions, not that they were a flower usually used in bouquets, they were a weed, but still. Not that anyone had ever even gotten him flowers? Not even Kyle, although it wasn't as if they were open about their relationship anyway. When Kyle told him he was getting married but that didn't mean they needed to stop fucking, Gordon had politely ended it with him. Gordon had really wanted to deck Kyle and call him a bastard but well, the ever-present anger simmering under the surface had never exploded yet and Gordon was a patient man, maybe he never would - fated instead to go on in life with a steady undercurrent of seething rage. Was that actually normal? He didn't know to be honest.
He's thinking of what flowers Barney would get him, when he falls asleep.
You look like, a perfect fit, for a girl in need of a tourniquet.
Gordon sways along to Aimee Mann in the shower, eyes shut and head tilted up to the shower's spray, washing his hair with one hand.
But can you save me, come on and save me.
Gordon prefers vinyl but the bathroom isn't the place for his record player, so he listens to the CD he mail-ordered. He hasn't actually seen Magnolia, but he's listened to the soundtrack on repeat more than once while working. It fits his hangover just fine today.
If you could save me, from the ranks of the freaks, who suspect they could never love anyone.
He hangs his head down for the rinse, mouths out the words as the hot-hot water slides soap over his shoulders. There is a bang on the door and Barney's informal, "I'm comin' in."
Over Aimee Mann's voice crooning out Gordon's emotional state of being a perpetual bachelor in need of affection and human connection is the sound of Barney getting ready for work, swishing Gordon's mouth-wash, cleaning his face, flushing the toilet. "If you stay in there much longer you're gonna be late again, Gord." Barney warns him.
Gordon flips him off by sticking his hand out of the curtain and Barney laughs before letting himself out.
Except the freaks who could never love anyone.
When Gordon goes to run out the door, shoving his arm back into the sling and gathering the read-outs he'd dropped off before heading out to the bar he notices the cup of coffee Barney had made for him, waiting right there next to the door.
It is painfully domestic and Gordon sips his coffee as the tram carries him toward AnMat, perfectly sweetened and mellowed out with a heavy scoop of non-dairy creamer. Creamer of which Barney liked to tell him could cause cancer, even while putting it in his coffee for him, but if Gordon is going to get cancer from anything it will likely be a computer monitor. Also, Barney drinks his coffee plain and black which clearly means he has no soul or taste buds.
The guard who lets him out at the tram is named Harold, which Gordon knows because he's beat him at beer pong in the Security dorms above ground an undetermined amount of times. "Did Barney hook up in town or was he slumming it down with you guys?"
Gordon grins at him which is answer enough, he raises his cup of coffee to the man when he keys in the code for him and does the retinal scan. Some days more of the security staff will talk to him than the science staff and he knows he owes that to Barney, who had somehow decided he belonged at their weekly gatherings. He wonders sometimes what they think of him, if he's the weird mute nerd, or if he's actually been accepted as it seems he has.
The guard on the front desk gives him his messages, Dr. Vance wants to check in with him on the training yesterday and his request to use the supercomputer to run computations has gone through. When he throws the empty paper cup over his shoulder and effortlessly lands it in the waste bin on his way out it is to a short shout of excitement from the guard and the combined looks of annoyance and confusion from the loitering scientists and techs. This is probably why he 1. wins at beer pong all the time and 2. has more contact with the security team than his own.
He scarfs down a cold poptart in the break room and buys a bottle of overpriced water from the machine because he's starting to actually consider Barney's theory about the onsite water treatment facility putting mind-altering drugs into the tap water. The aging microwave hasn't given up yet but whenever he microwaves his poptarts someone looks at him weird and points out the perfectly working toaster.
He's just setting up at his desk to bring up the schedule for the supercomputer when Dr. Vance enters and shuts the door behind him, not actually the usual protocol for a meeting, Gordon instantly worries he's messed something up and the older man is going to gently berate him outside of earshot of the rest of AnMat. He wasn't THAT late!
What did I do?
Dr. Vance's kind face immediately takes on a rather guilty appearance, "No, no Gor- Doctor Freeman, you're fine. I just heard what happened during your training simulation yesterday and wanted to check on you." Gordon is aware that Eli Vance is a father, he's never met his child but he has been the recipient of a few nearly fatherly interactions with the man. Relief pours over him as he realizes he is just being worried after and hasn't messed up an equation or something serious.
I'm fine.
"You know, if it gets too much, you can always pause your training." Dr. Vance says it gently like it's not the most terrifying thing Gordon has ever considered. Months, they'd lose months of time, would have to train someone else and no one is even near Gordon's placement. He has been training with the HEV suit and anomalous environments for months now, he's the youngest scientist in AnMat. He had literally been physically training for half a year already, numb with horror he shakes his head and something in his expression must be less blank than he'd like it to be, because Dr. Vance gives a soft sigh, "The tests will wait, Gordon, you have to think about yourself too."
I'm fine. He signs it harder this time.
"You don't have to burn yourself out, you're young yet."
Gordon wants to tell him he's not that much younger than him, that just because he's married and has a kid and has seniority in AnMat, just because Gordon is a shut in who wont kiss his best friend, doesn't mean Gordon needs someone to tell him he doesn't have to break his body to pieces to prove a point. Because he knows that's what this is, it's the time the professor he was TA to had to take him aside in his office, hand warm and comforting on Gordon's shoulder and told him he wasn't going to green-light Gordon's request to double up his classes. He could have graduated two years earlier, damn it!
Thank you Dr. Vance, your concern is very kind. But I really am fine.
Smile, smile through the rage boiling under the surface. Dr. Vance gives up with a kind smile and a shrug of the shoulders.
The rage stays, all through his early morning meetings, the equations he runs on the supercomputer, lunch taken in silence, and the remaining hours spent running computations on the newest materials borrowed from Lambda. The frustration mounts when Dr. Keller, who doesn't know ASL, comes to 'discuss' his work on the last batch of materials and 'really this one equation just seems off' and he has to use the white-board to argue with the man, not argue, discuss their disagreement passively and with an objective toward polite reconciliation and a working resolution. Dr. Keller cuts Gordon off a few times, hard to do when Gordon is mute, and yet.
He excuses himself when it proves that Dr. Keller is too fucking stupid to admit he's wrong, doing so with a polite smile and and an apologetic wave. Takes his lab results and himself and shuts everything out in his office.
Barney must have gone everywhere looking for him, when he finds Gordon in the security dorm's gym, running his rage out on the treadmill he looks a little out of breath.
"Want to hit the shooting range with me?" Barney asks, as if he knows, as if just by looking at Gordon's carefully passive face, tense shoulders, and discarded arm sling, what a shit awful day he's had.
He dumps the arm sling in the trash on the way out, his arm aches down to the very bone and they told him to rest it for a week but the break is mended and the bruises are hidden by the long sleeve of his sweater so whose to say he was even hurt at all? He catches Barney looking at his arm a few times but the guard, his friend, says nothing about it all through the shooting range.
It was a rarity, that they do this. Gordon had asked Barney to teach him when he'd followed him in a few too many times during a conversation and had to wait. Something more to do with his hands, and the familiar motions center him as he checks the chamber and loads the beretta m9. Barney leans carefully in the opening of the booth behind him as Gordon unloads five of the fifteen rounds perfectly into the center of the moving target. The security staff who had seen him shoot had told him his mantra of 'it's just physics' was bullshit but that's really all it was. Computational math of trajectory and environmental input. There wasn't anything like windspeed in the firing range, but the few times he'd gone with Barney to the open-air range in town had been similarly (un)spectacular for Gordon.
His body feels loose after the guns are checked back in and the sweat has dried on his skin. Barney trails alongside him through the quiet tunnels of Black Mesa, toward the Science housing. "I'm sure glad we're friends so when you inevitably go postal I might survive." Barney is grinning at him, and Gordon smirk softly back at him.
He doesn't have to ask Barney inside, the guard follows him in too, and before Gordon can offer him a drink, Barney shocks him.
Gordon is tactile, he touches people, mostly unconsciously. Grounds himself in physicality and has always been a kinetic learner, retaining information by doing. In contrast Barney largely keeps his hands to himself. Over the months he's opened up with Gordon, yeah, but when he gently takes Gordon's arm in his strong sure hands, it is completely unexpected. Barney pushed his sleeve up, all the way to his elbow and Gordon stares down in numb shock. The bruising is ugly and mottled on his pale freckled skin, contrasted with the tan of Barney's hands it looks even worse.
"Gord, you gotta take care of yourself." When Barney says this it does not cause the same stream of anger to flow down his throat. It is a thrill of cool ice-water down his spine, a tingle along his nerve endings, makes his stomach clench up and get all fluttery at once. "Lets get some ice on this for twenty minutes and then put a heating pack on it, this has to be hurting you."
It does hurt, but with Barney's gentle hands holding his arm, he can barely feel it. They should bottle this up, Barney's warm concern, because it does more for Gordon than 10 mgms of morphine does, fuck.
Barney sets him down on the couch and puts a bag of frozen green beans on his arm. They watch a bootleg tape of MST3K Gordon swapped on the underground tape-trading circuit while Barney carefully times out alternating heating pad and frozen vegetable usage. Eventually Gordon starts to fall asleep to the sound of Tom Servo crooning out 'Creepy Girl' only rousing when he feels Barney's hand gently brush his hair back.
It feels so good that he closes his eyes and leans into it, so Barney does it again, gently carding his fingers through Gordon's hair. If he wasn't so bone-deep exhausted he might even be freaking out about this right now, but Barney is touching him and doesn't seem like it's something weird.
He blinks over at his friend in the light provided by the tv screen and the kitchenette's overhead. Warm smile, soft eyes, dark hair and five-o-clock shadow. Barney ruffles up his hair and finally removes his hand, "You need to eat something."
Probably.
But all he wants to do is sleep. So he doses off while Barney does something in his kitchen. He listens to it, pots and knife to chopping board. He doesn't even remember what he has in the half-fridge but Barney must have found whatever something is. When he presents Gordon with a bowl of ramen that has been beefed up with a soft boiled egg and vegetables he isn't too surprised.
Thanks.
He laughs silently and Barney settles down to eat his own bowl, they watch the end of the tape and Gordon turns off the white-noise static of the TV.
"So, whatcha doin' this weekend?" Barney asks him.
Nothing yet, what do you have in mind?
Barney grins at him softly and Gordon turns his attention to the noodles floating in cheap broth, because if he keeps looking at Barney right now, he might do something really stupid. Might do something like close the distance and kiss him or ask Barney to please touch his hair again because he thinks he could get addicted to that feeling if he isn't already, he is though. Barney is terribly easy to get addicted to.

One More Dawn, One More Day, One Day More
In less than 24 hours we’ll be rid of Trump. I don’t want to hear his name again unless it’s coverage of his trial. American voters toppled a wannabe dictator and already things are looking up. Have you seen photos of the National Mall? It’s beautiful. The Biden inaugural committee has planted more than 200,000 flags representing states and territories, and at night there are 56 pillars of light as a nod to the50 states and six territories. The installation represents us, the wonderful mishmash that makes up our nation, from sea to shining sea. Not just red or blue states, not just one gender or ethnicity, all of us.

It’s supposed to represent unity, but also the hundreds of thousands who can not attend the inauguration because of the pandemic. No one has mentioned the curtailed inaugural activities due to the sinister and seditious events at the Capitol, but you know that safety is a concern as well. The Biden team said that they have "commitment to an inclusive and safe event that everyone can enjoy from their home.” Wow, an administration that actually cares about citizen safety and well-being. How refreshing! BUT... enough about politics. My last post about ball gowns received such a positive response that I am determined to make this corner of the internet a HAPPY place again. I started this blog in July of 2007 (yeahhh, it used to be more entertaining) with the intent of putting positivity and whimsy into the world. After four years of feeling angry every day, I’m going to get back to my roots. I’m going to remember how I found joy in little things, laughter in awkward moments, and beauty in the mundane. Prepare yourselves for some happiness, folks. Let’s start with a little bit of joy for your taste buds. Good food is probably on my top ten list for things that make life enjoyable. I do not understand people who forget to eat, or even worse, who don’t care what’s on their plate. I worked with a woman once, an absolutely lovely woman I should add, who used to eat whatever was handy. We worked for the same airline and usually by the time we could grab a bit we were starving. We worked crazy hours and my lunch(or dinner) was a reward for getting through the craziness. I’d bring a Lean Cuisine and dress it up. If I packed a sandwich, it had to be pretty. Her lunch would consist of a plain piece of bread and a half cup of coleslaw - “I had to get it out of the frig.” Once she had a bowl of baked beans and an orange. I used to offer her parts of my lunch but she’d wave me off. She was not strapped for cash, she was not lazy, and she said to me “It doesn’t matter what you eat, you just need a little weight in your stomach.” Technically, I guess she was right - but where’s the joy in that? I should probably add that she never had to go up a skirt size in her entire career with the airline, and I could probably use my old skirts for hot pads now, so joy could be fattening. Anywho...last week I checked out a few library books online and then zoomed over to pick them up. One of the books I checked out was Joanna Gaines’ latest cookbook, volume two of Magnolia Table.

I flipped through, putting bookmarks in recipes that sounded interesting and decided that the first one I’d try was this -

Mmmm, what’s not to love about spicy shredded chicken, corn, cojito cheese, pickled onions, cilantro, lime....hungry yet? It was such a simple, easy recipe and had a big flavor payoff (joy!). I’ll definitely be making these again. The only extra step in the recipe was making pickled onions. But that takes about two minutes. I did it while I was in the kitchen making lunch.

The cookbook provided a recipe that required red wine vinegar, which I was out of - so I used my own tried and true method of about a half cup of apple cider vinegar, a tablespoon of sugar, a teaspoon and a half of salt, and a thinly sliced red onion. It worked just fine. This soaked from noon til around six. It doesn’t have to be that long.

To make the taco meat just put chicken breasts in a baking dish, cover them with the spice mixture, pour a half cup of chicken broth into the bottom of the pan, cover and bake. She provides her recipe for the spices, honestly you could easily use a packet of taco seasoning - your choice.

Why yes, my tin foil does have creases in it. I am Ethel’s granddaughter and con not toss out a perfectly good piece of foil if it can be reused. This was the last use for this piece, but she had a good run.
While your chicken is baking you’ll mix up the yummy topping. Couldn’t be easier. Drain a can of corn, chop some cilantro, crumble some Cotija cheese, and you’re nearly done.
Cotija cheese can be found in any supermarket. It’s often in a cooler near the taco shells and refried beans, stacked with various salsas. I always see it in a large round, but I think you can also buy it already crumbled in a tub.

I think it tastes and feels like Feta, I’ll bet in a pinch you could swap it out.

The recipe calls for a half cup of cheese...

my cup runneth over because I am a joy seeker.

The corn, the cheese, the onions, and the cilantro get tossed into a bowl with a couple squeezes of lime juice and some chili powder and salt. Mixed together, that’s the topping for the tacos.
Once the chicken is out of the oven, let it cool a few minutes and then shred it with forks, mixing it into the juices in the pan.

The last step is to get your tortillas ready. Sadly, I didn’t have yellow corn tortillas, only white corn. Yellow would have been prettier.

You’ll toss them into a hot skillet or on a griddle for about a minute on each side, just to get a little color, you still need them to be bendy. I guess pliable would have been a better word, but bendy works.

Then you load ‘em up!
This was Mickey’s plate and he went back for seconds.

Because it’s just the two of us here there was enough left for lunch today. Yum! Here’s a link to the recipe: https://magnolia.com/street-taco-recipes/ This recipe looks involved, but it is NOT. There are a couple of steps but it’s all so easy. It comes together quickly for a pretty meal. I’m trying another recipe from the book tomorrow, if it’s as good as this one, I’ll share it here. That’s what’s happening at the Pullen spread. We’re counting the hours until Joe and Kamala take their oaths and we can be assured that adults are in charge again. I admit, I’ve been playing One Day More from Les Miserables this afternoon. I may have been shouting the “One day to a new beginning, raise the flag of freedom high!” part. Vive la résistance! Okay, different war, but I’m a little giddy today. Maybe I should just close with this...
youtube
As the song says, hold on for one more day, just hold on. Sending out SO MUCH LOVE. Stay safe, stay well. XOXO - Nancy

Somehow, someone somewhere had snuck into the men’s dormitory, exploiting the distraction of the Salma Square block party celebrating Halloween. Perhaps unwittingly, Arny or Omar, whoever came back to the dorm first, would find a curious… gift.
A polished black leather backpack sat upon the young Diane’s bed. Normally this would be odd, but inconspicuous enough, Arny naturally had a gaggle of female would-be paramours. If it wasn’t for the terrifying figure embossed in the polished leather, perhaps it would be found without much question. Sculped into the inky, tanned hide lurked a frightening demon. As if trapped in the leather itself, the tortured face of the winged beast was twisted in agony. Brows pinched, fiery eyes ablaze, lips peeled back from wicked, razor-sharp teeth.
More thought-provoking than the bag itself would be the collection of goodies found within, each obviously as costly as the bag was. Someone hadn’t skimped on gifts for the basketbrawl player. Within the silk-lined bag Arny would find a few ghoulish goodies; they were an elegant spin on an otherwise gaudy holiday:
One glass skull bottle of cologne cork-capped and sealed with red wax. It appeared to be from an expensive perfumer out of Divinity’s reach. The bouquet of the cologne was an amalgamation of deep crimson musk threaded with mesmerizing Elonian amber, bitter black tea, labdanum, black orchid, a whirl of dried leaves, and hearthsmoke.
One small black box, tied shut with an orange ribbon, and contained a collection of chocolate bonbons from an exclusive Elonian chocolatier that were of varying flavors and designs—white chocolate eyeballs oozing with red caramel, little orange pumpkins stuffed with pumpkin pie creme, apple cider caramel spiders, pomegranate oolong hearts (quite anatomically correct, at that), and witch hats stuffed with soft honey, vanilla marshmallow, piped on top of a crunchy brown butter shortbread cookie, and then enrobed in dark, bitter chocolate.
A new matte black fountain ink pen inlaid with his initials in what appeared to be gold, along with a new glass inkwell.
An unopened bottle of fine, aged bourbon whiskey from a notable Krytan distillery. The flavor profile would speak of spicy cinnamon, peaches and cherries, plus aromas of gardenias and magnolia blossoms. It was a gift for a refined palate, even if Arny’s may not have been.
Last but not least, a small blood-red envelope sealed with gold wax. Inside would be card bearing the message in elegant calligraphic script, “Enjoy the treats, the tricks are still to come.” Notably, it was not signed.

Fragrance pyramid, when the heart combines with reason

Fragrance pyramid
It is safe to say that the fragrance pyramid is a kind of structure on which classic perfumes are based. It consists of three levels - notes, which differ in the degree of durability of the fragrance and the ingredients used. The combination of them creates a full, complete and rich bouquet enclosed in a flacon.
When the heart combines with reason
Personal fragrance preferences and longevity - these are the main factors that determine the choice of these and not other perfumes. Manufacturers and fragrance designers are outdoing themselves with innovative combinations to entice the nose of the recipient and sell their product. However, when choosing a perfume, it is advisable to wear it for a longer period of time on the skin and become accustomed to the aromas released one by one before making a final decision. The first impression does not always go hand in hand with the last.
Prelude
Head note - appears first and is also the first to oxidize and disappear. This is the earliest encounter with a fragrance just after the flacon is opened, sprayed or applied to the body. The head note, also known as the high note, includes scents that are intense in their aroma, but fresh and light at the same time, based on alcohol, which evaporates first from the composition. The persistence of the chords from the head note fades within an hour at the latest, although with the oxidation of alcohol, the fragrance begins to evolve after just a few minutes.
The head note can be green aromas, such as fresh grass, mint, cucumber or green tea; fruity, such as apple, watermelon, pineapple; citrus - lemon, orange, lime, tangerine, grapefruit or bergamot. Light herbal and spicy nuances may also be perceptible, including pepper, lemon balm, thyme, lemongrass, lavender or rosemary. Clean, aqueous, aldehyde-type accords also dominate the high note.

Exposition
The middle floor of the composition is the heart of the fragrance. Its persistence is longer than that of the high notes, and the perceptibility of the aromas appears after the latter has oxidized. The heart notes gradually blossom on the skin, fusing into one with its natural scent, to eventually disappear within a maximum of four hours, leaving room for the main, base ingredients of the perfume.
The heart notes comprise more than the top level of possible scents, while also constituting the dominant composition in the flacon. They mix with each other, in proportions known only to fragrance manufacturers. And so intermingled are woody accords, woods, aromas of leaves or conifers, floral - it could be rose, iris, magnolia, tuberose, jasmine, lilac, ylang ylang, geranium or lily of the valley; warm and spicy notes, such as cinnamon, anise, nutmeg or cloves. The heart note, although based mainly on floral scents, can also host sweet and juicy fruits, such as peach, plum, blueberry and black currant.
The heart of the composition, the proportions of the chords used and the dominant ingredients establish the fragrance group into which a particular brand and perfume line can be classified. Thus, the perceptible spicy scents of cinnamon, anise, cardamom or ginger indicate a hot, oriental character and the dominant orange blossom, jasmine, and rose, despite other captured chords, define the unambiguously floral nature of the perfume. Rosemary, juniper and sage are responsible for the herbal line.
A powdery, satiny perception of the perfume, associated with childhood and delicate femininity, is offered by violet, iris, musk and heliotrope.
Base
The lowest and deepest element of a fragrance composition are the base notes, which determine the character, longevity and direction of the bouquet. The base is usually composed of animalic, leather, ambergris, musk and civet accords; smoky, woody and earthy aromas, tobacco, such as cider, vetiver, resin, patchouli and sandalwood; gourmand, or sweet and creamy - vanilla, tonka bean, honey, coffee, cocoa, marzipan; balsamic, including myrrh, frankincense, labdanum.
The base chords play on the skin the longest, usually several hours, but sometimes even a few days.
Durability, and therefore the quality of the perfume, goes hand in hand with its high price. Luxury brands source natural and rare ingredients, such as ambergris extracted from the secretion of a sperm whale, and process them in a unique way, an expensive procedure, but a testament to perfumery craftsmanship.
The fragrance pyramid has been a classic structure for centuries, a structure and a signpost in the design of a bouquet, but with scientific and technological advances, manufacturers of perfume masterpieces increasingly support themselves with synthetic substitutes. Artificial chords have no compulsion to release in a specific order, and thus the fragrance line can maintain a constant and unchanging aroma throughout the time it is worn on the skin. The use of laboratory molecules in the creation of compositions has several indisputable advantages - the price of the product can be lower, there is greater availability of the ingredient without interfering with nature and, as has become remarkably popular in recent years - the perfume elements are strictly vegan. The scientific approach to the creation of fragrances can also open the door to new, naturally unheard of chords, and thus to a futuristic mosaic of scents.

Liz Liveblogs Bravely Second: Chapter 5, Part 1/2
The final stretch is here. Welcome to Chapter 5: This is Our Coup de Gravy!
I’m splitting Chapter 5 into two parts due to length. This part features an amazing climax boss, and is then followed up by the Sidequest Roundup, which ended up longer than I expected! We’ll resume with the plot next go around. I understand if anyone wants to skip this one, since it is mostly sidequests, but at least read the beginning because reveals abound and the plot starts to really kick into gear. No more messing around this time!
No introduction is needed. It’s time to end this before it begins. Let’s make sure the Kaiser rests in oblivion
“I deny you all” you know, Oblivion. Buddy. Synonyms exist. Try them sometime
Between the start of the scene and actually attempting the fight I started drinking some hard cider. So if the team members are siblings, I’m the tipsy extradimensional aunt at the reunion. Let’s punch Kaiser’s blond chinstrap beard in
Aw, damn. They switched Magnolia’s and Edea’s positions in my party. Muscle memory is gonna smack me down in this fight
Edea took out about half of Kaiser’s health in one full BP volley. Not so tough now, huh? Really should be buffing your defense, instead of the attack power of everyone on the field
Oh no. The magical domino mask that everyone seems to think hides your identity but really, REALLY doesn’t fell off
Kaiser is Yew’s missing big brother. I’ll... get into why that doesn’t surprise me in a minute
...that’s not the pronunciation I expected. Denys Geneolgia. I read the name as “Dennis.” Yew just pronounced it “Denny.” It’s... uhh... I can see why he went with “Oblivion,” even if it does make him sound like an edgy 13-year-old trying too hard
So. Yeah. One of the few things I was spoiled on was that Kaiser’s real name was “Denys Geneolgia,” and after Yōko’s prank with the Danzaburō illusion and the zoom-in on Kaiser’s prosthetic hand... I kinda figured he had to be Yew’s brother. I’m sure there was probably some foreshadowing that I missed, but I feel like I caught a fair amount of it
Fuck, I can’t believe Yew’s brother is the restaurant chain Denny’s
I can’t believe Denny just got arrested before he could give us exposition. That’s totally unexpected for a JRPG. Wow.
GOOD NEWS THOUGH. Tiz and Agnès are finally in the same room as each other. I... perhaps should not have made him a ghost knight for this reunion, but she’s seen him wear worse. It’s fine
AAAAAAHHHHHH that hug was so cute. “...You came for me!” HE SURE DID. ACROSS TIME. All for you, Agnès! Tiz will never let you down!
And from her perspective, Tiz is still in a coma. It’s like he came back to life miraculously just because she needed him
AND EDEA’S MADE IT A GROUP HUG. AHHHHHH. WHERE’S RINGABEL GET HIM IN HERE FOR THIS
Nevermind, Magnolia and Yew are joining in and that’s cuter. But still. We’re missing our sixth teammate, Ringabel~
Time to give Alternis, Braev, and Agnès the low down on the end layer, and how we sent player with the Bravely Second
Agnès can actually remember parts of it because she’s also synced up to the hourglass, but since she didn’t travel through time with the party, it’s more of a dreamlike recollection
One last job. Kaiser’s in jail, but his soldiers aren’t. We need to take them down and extract or destroy the Ba’al locked in Skyhold. But this time, we complete the ceremony and join the Orthodoxy and Duchy. Two forces once at war with each other, now at each other’s backs to save the world
Ag... Agnès maybe don’t base your speech on events that now no longer happen because I changed the past?
Apparently there was quite a bit of time looping for her. She was whisked away to the edge of time “over and over” again? Was that the result of being in a timeless space, or is she referring to various new games on the cartridge, of which there are none because I only have the one (now two due to New Game+), so...
This speech almost doesn’t work because they don’t make the player go through several meaningless loops this time, so even from a meta perspective, she was only kidnapped once. So unless Agnès has lived through save files I never made, I don’t know what she’s going on about
Didn’t take the Empire long to bust Denny out of prison
Altair didn’t even help with Anne’s bestiary entry! Why couldn’t it have been written without him?!
...glad the chest key for blue chests was just sitting out on the floor of the church there
Yeah, of course it was Janne and Nikolai who broke him out. We can’t have pancake night without Denny’s!
“Does the name Jerome Balestra mean anything to you!?” Janne... Janne you fucking idiot. Mook #4 didn’t kill your dad. None of these guys know what you’re talking about. But no, kill them. Fine. You useless brat
I DON’T THINK THESE GUYS, SPECIFICALLY, KILLED YOUR DAD, JANNE! They all look the same! How can you tell?!?!?!?
You. Are. SUCH a child. Get over yourself
Nikolai should not be that acrobatic
Oh good. Bella and Cú are back. Hey, Bella, is it awkward that Yew’s rocking your getup right now? It is, right?
Denys, why are you enabling the use of “coup de gravy”? No self respecting older sibling would let him get away without some serious teasing for something so cringey. I’m an oldest sibling. I’m speaking from experience here
After Bella’s speech, I can’t tell if the Empire is just Denys accidentally adopting people who need help, or a cult
Bella mentions crimes against “her sister.” She’s a “Dark Vestal” with black hair and seems to give prophecies of doom. Is Sylvie her sister? Did Bella do something to make her mute? Sylvie was one of the big mysteries from last “arc” that never got answered, so I’m hoping for payoff here in some fashion
Not even a moment to breathe (or save). Time to battle Bella and Cú once more!
Okay, so Bella’s sister was killed on the night Eternia was founded, by the “witch” who began the Plague, mentioned in the last game. Seems that may have been started by the Crystalguard
She tried to revive her sister, much as Geist tried to revive his son. But all she made were monsters. And Cú, whose resurrection she messed up. But none of them were Donna. (So, not Sylvie. Should’ve just given her a minute to monologue). She named her doll after her sister
Cú wasn’t even technically resurrected. He’s just a statue that she managed to animate
My Spirit Magic is so much stronger than Bella’s at this point it’s comical
Cú. You’re using up Edea’s special. Hurry this monologue up
Dammit Cú. I had Critical up by 300%. Thanks for wasting that
We spared them. Of course we did! This is the Best Timeline™, guys! No one dies, no one gets to economically ruin a nation!
Yew’s determined to show Denys’s people that the word can change so long as people are willing to work for it. Stop living in the past and wishing you could undo mistakes. Time to start working for a better future. And I can’t think of anyone better to show them than Agnès
“We can’t risk her Holiness...!” Othar, Agnès killed Ouroboros, the Devourer of Worlds. I think she can handle Sad Bella and her horse man without her useless bodyguards
I like Cú. He’s a man... horse of honor
And Agnès let Bella keep Donna, her doll. So sweet
Oh just let me save the game already!
We called in Braev, Alternis, Norzen, Kamiizumi, Goodman, and Lotus to hear our story. Lotus... has no idea who we are, unless we either called him from Sagitta and told him offscreen, or he somehow also had his memories hooked up to the Second
At least Norzen won’t arbitrarily attempt to kill us this timeline
Eisen and Eternia are teaming up to make sure Agnès can’t be kidnapped to use to awaken the Crystals
Magnolia’s got a plan to take the Skyhold. “Lord Arima and Sakura remember you well. Together, we’ve been preparing for this day.” Is this Kingdom Hearts logic, where all memories are connected, so as long as we remember the last timeline, so does everyone we befriended? Who, exactly, was memory synced to the hourglass?
...is it me? It uses the player’s SP, so as long as I remember the events of the story, so do they? Lucky for you guys I’ve been doing a liveblog, huh?
...that’s actually gonna suck if the sidequests remember Bad Timeline events, because now it’s a betrayal
Agnès has given everyone pendant pieces, so we’ve got a group call with the team now
“Take back the compass”? I don’t believe they’ve stolen it yet, Magnolia
Thank GOD. I can finally save and take a break
Denny’s got the team together to recoup after having his little brother time travel just to punch his face in. Understandable
He does genuinely seem to care about his underlings, so I’m pretty sure “savior of the lost” is the kind of person we’re dealing with here
“They went down fighting for the cause.” Janne, stop. They’re not dead. Best Timeline™
So Denys, Nikolai, and Janne all remember the past timeline, too. Who... who does and does not remember? Someone needs to get me a comprehensive list. Alternis may or may not get super pissed that I intend to “betray” the orphans this go around if he remembers
I like the fact that the villains in this game are as perceptive as they are. “If we remember, then I’m sure they do, too. No element of surprise with our plans, so we need a change of course”
“My friend...” Denys is the same as Yew. He adopts people. The empire is to him what the party has become to his brother: a second family to make up for the one they botched
They’re sending Geist to claim the compass instead of Minette this time. If the catsassin ain’t a secret, may as well go with our strongest operatives
New Game+ means both New Enemies+ and all sidequests from past chapters are open, so let’s go clear out some Catmancy skills, then fix the mess I made of the last timeline and see if I like the quests any better when I like the ending. We’re leaving the Bestiary until I get the Yōkai job’s Obliterate skill to make it easier on me
I’m gonna take the quests in order of appearance, so first up is Jackal vs. deRosa, where we side with Jackal instead of letting deRosa maybe accidentally start a Cold War for the sake of making some kid happy about his thesis project
Okay, they did exactly what I was hoping they would when I realized that everyone retained their memories. Event scenes are heavily abridged, but it seems like only the party remembers everything. So they go “hey, is this what’s happening? Okay, we can help let us fix this.” instead of having the situation explained. That’ll make it easy to collect the rest of the jobs
deRosa may remember. He knew everyone’s noodle orders, but doesn’t seem like he remembers anything about the Wellspring Gem. So... I dunno
Also, WHY DID YOU TELL HIM. You know it just causes a fight with Jackal!
“For every five years our research is delayed, the world suffers a decade of sorrow...” Okay, kid. Stop being dramatic. Your thesis project is not some high-end deal and not worth destroying at least one, maybe several towns over. He isn’t even a high ranking Al-Khampis student. Sorry, dumbass, I’m not letting you make a fantasy nuke
At least he’s got his heart in the right place. He’s gonna find a solution that doesn’t need the Gem, so that everyone benefits and they don’t have to destroy a city to do it. G... good job? You should’ve considered that from the start
Hey, I’ve got an idea. Let’s find Gho Gettar and slyly whisper to him that there MAY be an owl-man hanging out in the Northeast of Eternia that MAY have what he’s looking for ;)
Weird that the Gho sidequest starts up with meeting him and Mephilia in the woods to deliver Kamiizumi’s letter when the event we got the letter from didn’t happen in this timeline. Maybe he handed it off to us during the big peace talks in Gathelatio?
I’ve been listening to Critical Role too much, because when I heard the voiceover for Kamiizumi’s letter, I couldn’t picture the character, just Liam O’Brien’s goofy smile
Follow your dreams, Gho. I promise, Amaterasu is just a (very long) boat ride away
Kamiizumi thinks we’re being naive, because being a low-ranking worker isn’t anything shameful, and we’re encouraging Gho to be a quitter. And I agree, yeah, there’s nothing wrong with being a labor worker. BUT! It’s also not for everyone. Some people are AMAZING at those kinds of jobs, and some people shine in other areas. I don’t see Gho shining as a factory worker. I just see it crushing his spirit. And his sense of dedication is not an issue, because he is putting in just as much effort into summoning Amaterasu as he did working in that factory, but the summoning work makes him happier. He’s no less a hard worker for focusing his efforts on a strenuous process that makes him happy than one he doesn’t care about
“You counsel a guileless youth, still ignorant of the world, to throw up his hands at the first hint of hardship.” But we aren’t, though. You think there are no hardships on the path to his dream? That it won’t be difficult? No, we just refocused his efforts on something he cares about. He’ll struggle through just as many hardships, but with this he’ll want to go through them, want to make it through because they’ll be for something he’s passionate about. He’ll actually have the motivation to get through those hardships, and he’ll be more pleased with the results. Sorry, Kamiizumi. Just because it’s not for a job you particularly find tasteful doesn’t mean he’s not working just as hard. Maybe even harder, since he’ll be more excited to do it
The Kamiizumi fight is much easier once you remember that your Hawkeye has the Condor ability that can pierce default
And this is what I’m talking about. Gho is getting frustrated that he still can’t summon Amaterasu, he’s putting in so much effort, but now it’s for something he’s passionate about. It might not be as fast as he accomplished something of note as he did in the vs. Mephilia ending, but he’s accomplishing just as much, and I’m proud of him. Sometimes it takes just a little longer to do something truly great, as opposed to just something good
Oh, wow, I forgot about Sage Yulyana. Not his existence, but the fact that he hasn’t been relevant to this game. We still haven’t been to the Yulyana region
According to Mephilia he fought a Ba’al about a year ago, told her about Amaterasu and one other summon (Susano-o, the one she was searching for last game, or Charybdis, the other new one from this game?) and then either left this world to hunt down the Ba’al... or just died. Honestly, either would be pretty in-keeping with the good old sage. Just as well we probably won’t be seeing him, though; I only ever used Conjurer for Obliterate
Yeah, I’m happier having Gho follow his dreams than slave away at a job he hates, even if he managed to make that job more efficient. I’ve got faith he can do just as much, if not more good like this
Well, on to the next... oh. Oh god no not Holly vs. Profiteur again oh good lord come on, let’s try to stop this economic disaster before a child gets lost in the freaking mines again
Huh. This timeline they’re all just... talking it over like mature, responsible adults. And while Profiteur is going to make sure his economic argument is sound, Holly is... going to gorge herself in Heartschild. Great. Just go to Barras in Florem and leave the rest of us alone, you loon
And even the girl is more sympathetic. She still wants to stay, but she’s scared of her granddad having to go out and fish on the open water every day if they do stay there. And, kid, I got wrecked by a Monoceros out there and this party is TRAINED to fight, that is a very good fear to have
Oh thank GOD it’s not making me chase Profiteur down again
Greater good! GREATER. GOOD!
Oh, cool, Holly’s fucking drunk. Really making a good argument for yourself there, hon
Profiteur’s plans will “only help the few?” How so? Seems to me a flourishing economy benefits EVERYONE. Besides, I’d rather side with someone taking the situation seriously than one drunk madwoman
I’m almost happy that they made Holly so unsympathetic this go-around
But... now the kid’s back to being a brat. She’s throwing a tantrum because she doesn’t want the house sold. Too fucking bad? How many kids do you think would end up homeless if they didn’t sell? I don’t think an eight-year-old should be making the financial decisions in this family. They’re not good big-picture thinkers
Also, no need to be so hostile to Profiteur, Edea! Holly’s feelings aren’t the benchmark of morality, either!
I still have so many problems with the way this quest is written, as though the conflict is modest-but-happy lifestyle vs. lavish-but-empty lifestyle, when it’s really a needs of the many vs. needs of the few scenario. As though someone being sad is a decent argument for a large decision like this. As though kids are good at making rational decisions. Sometimes families move, sometimes things change, and it’s hard and sad and difficult to adapt to, but you need to. And this opens up so many possibilities for her that she can’t even see yet. Better schooling, a better home, good jobs, heck, she’ll be able to spend even more time with her grandpa if he doesn’t have to work all the time to get her food!
The one thing this quest has going for it is that I totally buy Profiteur’s redemption from the last game. He’s still a moneygrubber, but he’s a moneygrubber who’s genuinely looking to open up some honest jobs and help a country out
“You can trust in Erutus Profiteur! If you think I am taking too long [making this country a better place], you may come to blast me away at anytime!” God speed, good sir. He sounds so excited to make this work, and I’m glad to make it happen
Sidequest still wan’t great, but much more bearable than the first time. A kid didn’t even have to almost die this time around!
Well, now it’s time to go get stuck in Grapp Keep. If we were smart, we’d tell everyone to get out before the place collapsed, but then we wouldn’t have a conflict? Oh well. Let’s go kick Ominas and his baby dragon’s asses
I don’t foresee that fight being a problem, since I have Magnolia as an Astrologian with Elemental Barrier
...at least Edea tried to avoid slamming into that guy this time
The saga of Magnolia’s cooking continues. Seems she’s gotten to be a much better chef
Oh god it just hit me. The Edea punching the wall scene happened again. We caused the damn cave-in
And they tried to warn them of the cave-in, but we still got trapped. But of course
And Artemia and Ominas definitely don’t remember the last timeline. This time, though, we’ve told Risotto’s father to form a rescue party in advance. No worry about a search party not showing up. Now we have even less reason to side with Ominas! Food for everyone! Femto Flare later, when not under threat of hunger
Ominas, dude, just learn Femto Flare when we get out of here. World isn’t screwed because a tiny dragon didn’t learn it this second. Besides, the way this is going, it ain’t gonna matter much this timeline, anyway
Man, that is such a nothing quest. No real stakes, no real emotional involvement. Nothing. Cool. Moving on
...why does the Bestiary make it sound like Bahamut is dead when the actual epilogue says he’s fine?
Kikyo vs. Heinkel was enjoyable. Let’s hope it is again, yeah?
I like the premise of “oh we already know who did it, let’s set up a trap to catch the culprit”
And they aren’t even pretending it wasn’t Whitson. Hell, Edea’s blatantly guilting him, without actually saying his name
Let’s get Sholmes in on the police force. He needs to learn a little temperance. His big problem is jumping the gun with his intuitive responses. Putting him in a position that encourages him to think more logically and put together better evidence for his reasoning can only benefit him. Intuition is best used when you understand why you’re having that gut reaction in the first place, and it’s not the only thing that makes a good investigator
Kikyo’s still an annoying fight what with her constant evading and Transience skill, but Ninja was one of my top classes last game so it’s good to have it back
Yes, yes, we know what the truth of this incident was. I don’t need to hear it again, game
And you know, I’m liking this new, mature Sholmes. Good. I’m glad he’s finally wising up
Still a decent quest, I just almost wish the stakes were higher. ...then again, this game has proven that higher stakes in these quests tends to lead to higher stupidity from Edea, so maybe it’s for the best this stays low-scale
Who feels like opening up the first co-ed school in Florem. I do! Equality of the sexes!
Straight to the fight! This one was pretty straightforward
A co-ed school with optional enrollment is moving too fast? Really Einheria? Shut the fuck up. Both of your sisters are smarter than you right now, and one’s a psycho summoner and the other grew up in the woods
I just Summoned a Friend. He named his attack “Shot thru the <3″ and had Yew’s finishing line be “You’re to blame.” What a freaking legend
Oh no Rhea’s crying. What a shame
Einheria can’t even remember her name while proclaiming her loyalty to her. God, how could you forget a name like Rhea Veeling
And Swetti’s crush is still a thing. Great
Barras has licenses to teach various forms of martial arts and 22 fields of medicine? Dude, hey, go down to Eisen, find your drunk girlfriend, and go settle down yeah? Keep her out of trouble because you’re clearly the responsible one in this relationship
Eugh. Rhea’s Bestiary entry says she only joined the Bloodrose Legion after they ruined Florem, and her whole “making up for the sins of the past” shtick was an act to get the teaching job. Wow. Fuck her, glad this is Best Timeline ending
“Regardless, she is probably the most rational of the three Venus sister...” Not in this scenario, Tiz. Not at all
Back to Florem to respect the wishes of a deceased artist. Arca Pellar’s song will see the light of day. And then eventually Praline can remix it, but I don’t think she’s gonna have the patience to, honestly
So Pellar... remembers the last timeline? But Praline and Barbarossa don’t? What... why??? What are the rules for cross-timeline memory!?
At least it doesn’t seem like we have to trek through the Witherwood again. Good
And our plan is scream our answer into a microphone so that Praline and Barbarossa hear it and the loser challenges us to a fight. We’re just provoking the boss at this point! Why???
*mic voice* FUCK PRALINE. SHE AIN’T SHIT
I still can’t hear her over her background music
“Why not recreate that song as something people today will be able to enjoy?” Why not make your own freaking song!? There’s market for both genres! It’s not like the freaking Beatles are any less popular because their stuff’s old, you know?
Praline I am far too cynical to fall for false tears. I didn’t even cave to a child’s real tears. You think that’s gonna stop me?
Oh lord her awful song’s the boss music. You know, I like Jpop every once in a while. It’s a decent genre! This... this is not a good song
See? Barbarossa just handed Praline a commission to do a song for them. It... was for Arca’s song, though, invalidating everything I’ve done. At least this time the sailors are working with her to keep true to the original spirit of the song
Well, that totally invalidated my entire choice, but at least everyone’s happy?
The Bestiary has a few interesting tidbits. Rabbits are sacred on the moon (because this game was made in Japan, of course they are), Praline has been lying about being 17 for a long freaking time, and Nikolai was apparently a fan. I... Nikolai, buddy, really? Never would’ve thought
Time for one last diversion: solving the economic crisis of Grandship. Alternis may have his heart in the right place, but his clouded judgement will wreck Grandship in the long run. Let make the Best Timeline one worth living in, where everyone’s happy
It just occurred to me that there’s over 30 Jobs. That’s nuts
Just heading straight to the council meeting, huh? Just as well, we already know who we’re here to support. Though I wouldn’t have objected to hanging out with Datz, Zatz, Alternis, and the Proprietress for lunch again
(Also, side note: The salted caramel tea I’m drinking right now is ~amaaaaaazing~. I’m not even really a salted caramel person. Bigelow teas are a gift to this earth. Alternis is gonna get a beating while I sip tea dramatically)
Shoot. The elevator’s still locked. Guess I’m dungeon running with encounters off again. Teeeeediuuuuum~
(I get the point is probably new encounters but: I don’t have Obliterate yet and I’m still overleveled. So!)
We aren’t abandoning the orphans, you overdramatic dork!
Wow. That might be the first boss I’ve lost to.
Alternis, you’re proposing now!? In the middle of combat over the economic security of orphans!? Learn some tact, doofus!
Minus Strike is complete bullshit when Alternis has 100x the max health we do. That’s just an instant kill
And Khamer seems really devoted to helping the poor despite all this. “Maybe we can have our cake and eat it, too.” Yeah, I like it!
Oh, sure, cut to starving orphans to make me feel bad
Oh, I love the Proprietress. Now that people have money to spend, they’re spending it on helping the poor! And the kids are being offered an apprenticeship and schooling! Exactly how it should be. I was worried they were gonna vilify my choice for a second there
I forgot Edea was only 18. These kids really are all younger than me
Ah, that’s cute. Magnolia wonders how terrifying Alternis’s face must be in the Bestiary and Edea can only reply with “...” Yeah, mmmhmm. Good response to the pretty-boy pompadour guy
Thank God those are over. I love this game, but that was basically an hours-long boss rush. Most of those were a bit more tolerable than the Bad Timeline runs, but I still don’t think they were written well. The flaw is in the fundamental conflict setup... but I think I’ve talked enough about my problems with them in previous entries, so let’s make like a New Timeline and cut the chit chat because we already know what’s up
I’ve finally escaped Morality Sidequest Hell. Now, there’s at least two more sidequests in the game, but I have high hopes for them. Mostly because they won’t be confined to the Choice structure that all of the others have been stuck in which means: 1. no moralizing (probably) and 2. development for party members other than Edea, because the Tiz, Yew, and Magnolia might as well have not been there at all for all they contributed to these quests
Wow, that ended up being way longer than expected. I was hoping to get right into the story this liveblog, but I guess that’s not gonna happen. Well, check back next time when I go race Geist to the spacetime compass. He... unfortunately has a good headstart considering I just did eight sidequests, but now the whole party’s level 60 and ready to go! He doesn’t stand a... geist of a chance
#bravely default#bravely second#liz liveblogs bravely second#woooooooo that was a long string of fights#but with that out of the way part 2 should be a breeze#i want to beat this game this month#so let's shoot for a halloween finale

As someone who is ND themself and who has friends with “bad” ND disorders, I’m gonna ask neurotypical people to do a few things.
STOP DEMONIZING NEURODIVERGENT DISORDERS LIKE DID, BPD, BD, PSYCHOSIS, ASPD, ETC.
These people are NOT monsters, they are NOT your experiments to test on, they are NOT your hobby. They are living breathing people trying to live the best they can in a neurotypical focused world.
What bothers me the most is that these people are struggling, and then they don’t feel like they can reach out for help because the minute they do, they get demonized for it.
Another thing neurotypical people need to stop doing,
STOP INFANTILIZING PEOPLE WITH ADHD AND AUTISM. We are NOT infants. We are NOT incapable. We are NOT your “soft little baby.” Or some other bullshit.
We too, are people, we are also struggling, but treating us as if we’re incapable of doing anything when we very well could be is beyond insulting.
Neurodivergent people are just that, PEOPLE. Stop treating us otherwise. We just want respect.
Seriously.

Ways to enhance your intuition
Exercises:
These exercises can be done in two ways. You can either pick one paper up and try to guess what is on the paper, or you can think of a paper and try to find it in the pieces of paper. If you feel you need more pieces of paper by all means add more. If you work with deities, your higher self, spirits of any sorts, please feel free to invite them to help you with these exercises, if you’d like.
The number exercise: cut four, same sized pieces of paper with the numbers 1-4 written on them. Turn them downwards and mix them up. Pick one up and try to guess which number it is.
The shape exercise: cut four, same sized pieces of paper, and draw a star, a heart, a circle and a cube on them. Turn them downwards and mix them up. Pick one up and try to guess which shape it is.
The color exercise: cut four, same size pieces of paper, and add a different color to all of them. Turn them downwards and mix them up. Try to guess which paper has which color on them.
The quiz exercise: find a quiz online that you know nothing about - this may be a science quiz, a pop culture quiz, a quiz about a band, or the Viking history quiz. Take the quiz and try to guess the answers.
The object exercise: Get a older object, works best if it’s given by a friend do you and examine it. Try to pick up the objects energies and try to see/hear/smell the person that the object is tied to. It’s best done with a friend because they will most likely know some information about the person and they can tell if you’re right or wrong.
The card exercise: Pick one card up from a deck and try to see the color, the shape and the number of that card. You can also do this with tarot cards, try to feel the cards energies.
Divination: it’s a great exercise for enhancing your psychic abilities and the range of tools you can do divination with is enormous. So, find the one that calls to you and start divining.
In my experience these are the main exercises which you can sit and work on but they’re not the only ones. Intuition can be worked on throughout the day even in the most mundane tasks:
Try to guess who texted you or is calling you before you pick up the phone.
If other people cook for you, try to guess what you’re having for lunch before seeing it.
Try to pick up what your friend is going to tell you before they do.
Try to guess when the light is going to turn green at a traffic light.
Think of a person, and try seeing what they’re doing at the moment. After you’re done, ask them whatsup.
When talking to a friend on the phone try to see what they’re wearing, what their hair is like, and/or what they’re doing and ask them.
When you get up try to sense what the weather is going to be like today.
When at the store and you’re waiting in line try to sense how much the person before you needs to pay.
Tell a friend to think of a number and try to guess that number.
When listening to music on shuffle, try to sense what the next song is going to be.
When people close to you talk on the phone try and sense who they’re talking to and ask them afterwards. (only if they’re comfortable with it, not all people would like their privacy invaded, my friends and family know why I’m doing that so they’re cool with it)
Try to sense what a close friends text is saying before you open it, or try to sense why they’re calling you.
These are all I can think of a t the moment, hopefully in the future I’m going to add more. Basically anytime, anywhere when you have some space left to guess what’s going to happen, do it.
MEDITATION: I can’t stress how important meditation is, especially to witches, mages, shamans, and all occult practitioners in general. I know it sounds boring when people tell you to meditate but we all need some time to relax and clear our heads. And in the moments of blissful relaxation we let out soul speak to us the most thus coming into our strongest potential where we can energetically change our DNA and rewire our brains. In the moment of deep relaxation you can focus on cleansing your pineal gland / increasing your intuition.
I like to imagine purple/indigo color and lavender flowers coming out of my pineal gland spreading and covering my whole body and aura. I also like to imagine roots stretching from my pineal gland bursting through my forehead opening an eye in the centre of it. I like to massage the centre of my forehead, and I like taping an amethyst to it lol.
There are lots of guided meditations on youtube, which are extremely helpful, and there are lots of binaural beats and isochronic tones, which are also very helpful. Just find your comfort zone to working on the pineal gland and focus on it. Don’t feel bad if per say, isochronic tones don’t work for you but storm sounds do work. Find your comfort zone and work within it.
Also you might want to check out Sun Gazing, which is a very powerful exercise you’re going to need to dedicate yourself to.
Pineal gland detoxification:
Avoid ingesting fluoride - I know this is hard, seeing at the people on top put fluoride in literally everything knowing what it’s doing to our brains. But there are alternatives, the internet is a huge place and you can find almost everything there. Avoid fluoridated water, fluoridated toothpaste, GMO fruits and vegetables, soda, all artificial foods and drinks. Try to eat healthy and organically and if possible reduce eating meat - and cutting it off completely.
Avoid sleeping with technology in your room if possible - this means wireless routers, mobile phones, computers etc. The pineal gland is suppressed by electro magnetic fields.
Avoid or if you can, completely cut off all sugar, caffeine, tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
Once you’ve detoxified your body and pineal gland it’s time to start working on activating and boosting your pineal gland:
Spend time in sunlight every day - or as much as you can. Practice sungazing as well, and it is best done when the sun has risen or in the moments it’s going away because the sun is the weakest then and it can’t harm your eyes and it won’t bother you.
Oils and incense -
Sleep and meditate in complete darkness.
Commit to meditation every day.
Dedicate rituals to your third eye - whether it be a bath ritual, once in a full moon ritual, a day of the week ritual, or whenever you feel like it ritual, do it.
Practice yoga, especially Yoga Nidra as it is the most powerful yogic practice to increase the blood flow to your pineal gland.
Eat food that boosts the pineal gland - raw cocoa, coconut oil, lemon - the body’s best friend, basically the master of detox, garlic, raw apple cider vinegar, goji berries, watermelon, honey, hemp seeds, iodine, vitamin K1/K2, boron, bananas, alkaine food, chlorophyll rich foods, oregano oil, sea moss, walnuts, turmeric and melatonin.
Crystals that stimulate the pineal gland - amethyst, lapis lazuli, clear quartz, moonstone, sodalite. You can meditate with these crystals on your forehead daily, you can tape a crystal on your forehead and stay like that for a while, or you can massage your forehead with it.
Chant - there are a lot of chants to boost your pineal gland, you can google some, I’ve found that OM works best for me.
Plants that enhance intuition - ginger, gotu kola, ginkgo, skullcap, elder leaf, berries and flower, fennel, lavender, lemongrass, saffron, bay leaves, rosemary, honey suckle, anise, eyebright, lotus, mimosa, sandalwood, burning acacia, cinnamon, buchu leaves, celery, lilac, mint, mugwort, solomons leaf, frankincense, jasmine, lemon, peppermint, rose, sage, vanilla and star anise.
Oils - bay laurel, carrot seed, galbanum, german chamomile, grapefruit, myrrh, nutmeg, palo santo, petitgrain, roman chamomile, sandalwood, st. john’s wort, angelica root, eleni, juniper, frankincense, rosemary and patchouli.
Incense - ambergris, bay leaf, anise, cinnamon, frankincense, honeysuckle, jasmine, lemon, lemongrass, lotus, magnolia, peppermint, rose, sage, sandalwood, vanilla, heliotrope, basil and eucalyptus.
And most important of all - trust your gut! The problem with not listening to our intuition is when our rational, logical mind interferes and tries to come up with logical solutions as to why your intuition is wrong. Whenever you get that gut feeling, just go with it, don’t question it. Also always remember to protect yourself when working on your pineal gland, seeing as we are more open and vulnerable to psychic attacks during these moments.

Ways to Honour Freyja
Take care of yourself by practising self-care, eating healthier and exercising.
For an inconspicuous way of honouring Freyja’s beauty aspect, you could treat yourself to a mini spa day at home (have a bath, use a face mask, etc)
Donate or volunteer at fertility clinics or other organizations that aide women’s health (such as Planned Parenthood!)
Practise reading runes. If you’re feeling up to it, you could even try to make your own!
Feed stray cats, or provide shelter to some if you can! Here is an interesting craft that you can make to provide shelter for cats in your neighbourhood!
If it’s consensual, you could try dedicating acts of sex/masturbation to Freyja.
Try playing an instrument/music for her, or even create artwork of her. While not inherently something Freyja presides over, I personally believe she enjoys the arts.
Be kind! Look for the beauty in everyone and recognize their self-worth, even if they personally cannot.
Pick up a craft such as jewelry making
Other Information
Freyja taught the magic of Seidr to the Aesir (notably Odin), a magic involving altering the conscious and focuses on one’s destiny. It involved shamanic skills as well as shape shifting and divination.
Freyja has the first pick of the slain. Her half goes to the hall Sessrúmnir, as well as women who died during childbirth.
Her area of Asgard is called Fólkvangr - “Field of the Host”.
Freyja owns a chariot pulled by two giant cats, and wears a falcon cloak (which allows the user to fly or shapeshift into a falcon). She also rides a boar, Hildisvíni.
Hildisvíni was actually a human mortal named Ottar who was devoted to Freyja. Freyja transformed Ottar into a boar to help him discover his ancestry, and he became her lover as well. Loki has made comments about her indecency by riding her partner in public.
Her necklace, Brisingamen, was obtained by spending a night with each of the four dark elves whom forged it. However, Loki followed her, then later stole the necklace and reported what she had done to Odin. Freyja demanded her necklace back from Odin, where he told her she must instigate a war between two kings in exchange for Brisingamen.
There is another tale of Brisingamen. Upon waking up to find it missing, Freyja enlists the help of Heimdall to find it, and they discover that Loki (in the form of a seal) was the thief. Heimdall fights Loki and returns Brisingamen back to Freyja.
When her husband Odr disappeared, Freyja wandered the earths in her falcon cloak looking for him. She cried tears of gold while searching for Odr.
