Amazing how so little has (been allowed to) change in aviation that the magnetos most little piston powered planes are almost the same as these schematics of a magneto from 1918.

For reference here's an actual one from about the same time period

And here's a "modern" one used widely on planes today. (Made in the 1950s tho). There are a new type of electronic magnetos out there, but they're still pretty expensive and have not been widely adopted yet.

And for sillies, here's the old af one I took off the Ultra Pup. The guy who built it before used a tractor magneto. I will be switch that out for something built for a plane in the near future for sure. :')

Granted it flew for about 20 years and I maybe stupid 99% of the time, but I'm not tempting death :')
