Hello!
I'm starting this blog to share my journey as I'm creating my first original comic, Magical Frog !
If you like:
Frogs
Magical girls
Sapphic romance
Kicking the butt of patriarchy
A cool knight woman and her moody squire
Fairytales and Japanese mythology
Then this is for you!
.
I expect this journey will be long and I will learn many things along the way. There will be trials and errors, but I'm hoping that in the end I can create something special that people will enjoy.

Is frogs were wizards, what kind of magic would they have?
Look, I think the Basic™ answer is that frogs belong to the Transmutation school of magic because, hello, metamorphosis, but galaxy brain herpetologists know that more than a quarter of all frog species don't have tadpoles.
Toxicologists could tell you of the venomous species that can deliver a real Shocking Grasp that leaves you with Burning Hands—mainstays of Evocation magic.
Ecologists will tell you frogs are pivotal mesopredators and those with tadpoles occupy two trophic niches over their lifespans—classic Abjuration magic.
Some field biologists will tell you how hard it is to find some frogs, even when they are calling from immediately in front of you—archetypal Illusion shit.
Other field biologists might tell you that sometimes frogs start calling a few minutes before the rain actually comes. Obvious hallmark of Divination school.
Conservation biologists will tell you that some species that were declared Extinct or likely Extinct have been rediscovered recently, so I suspect at least some are from the Necromancy school
Behavioural ecologists might tell you that some frogs have familiar pet tarantulas (Big Spider want you to think it's the tarantulas keeping the frogs as pets, but don't be taken in by their biased lies). You want to tell me that they're not Conjuration wizards?
But Frog Fans (Frans) will tell you they belong to the Enchantment school, because hearteyesmotherfucker.gif. I mean, they somehow got you following me, right?

A common misconception about Fairy Crowns is that it indicates the emotions a Fairy has. This is not true. A Fairy's Crown is purely an indication of their magical energy, as magic is directly connected to their health.
A crown losing its form is an indication that the flow of their magic is fluctuating, which humans often mistaken it as high emotions. Humans should be wary of Fairies with visible fluctuating magic, as it can mean that they are about to impulsively use magic in an erratic or dangerous manner.
Thankfully, crowns cannot do direct harm to others, and Fairies cannot do magic without a wand! Take their wand, and they won't do you harm!!

#froggyfall - How it all started.
The beginning of the journey.
Tumblr media
In October 2022, I decided to challenge myself and participate to the froggy fall challenge.
I've never drawn a frog in my life before in my life.
One of the entry was "wand" and I drew this. And I kinda became obsessed with it?
I thought "What if I drew her in human form?" and I did.
I got heavily inspired by Card Captor Sakura and Magical Boy in the first early stages. I think it shows haha.
I could feel I was onto something with this one. I started creating other OCs, the beginning of a story and some worldbuilding.
I became so hyped I decided to draw the first few pages. So I currently have 5 pages of the story + the cover.
I quickly realised that I needed to write the whole plot before going any further. That's what I'm still currently working on.
But drawing those 5 first pages gave me the confidence I could actually do this project. My art might not be perfect, but I have a story to tell and I'm hoping people will like it anyway.
