The triforce of power, courage, wisdom, and Magic. The fourth and often overlooked one. Hidden in the space in the middle of the triforce. The part that never truly shines. The times in history when the piece is active are hardly written in historical texts. Few have been known to wield it. Less than that understand what it does. The powers it gives are unknown and it works as if by magic itself.
Many have theorised that empty space in between all three represent the empty chaos that was made by the three. Others say that it represents the will of where all three parts of the triforce meet. Others argue it's the parts the three did not claim. The only thing we do know is what we don't know. It is recorded that the users have magical abilities that don't fall into any of the other categories.
Few have claimed it and even less have seen it in action.
. . .
"How much longer is left on this boat?" Sky asked. He hung his head over the railing and stared down at the water. His stomach had been doing flips nonstop since the trip started. All he could do was bite down and wait. Time put a hand on his shoulder to calm the man. He had been hanging by the railing all day and several of the others had placed bets on whether he was going to barf or not.
"It can't be much longer now. Just hold steady." Sky looked behind him. Past Time to see Warrior and Four staring. They were talking to each other. He didn't know what they were saying but it was probably about him. Giving him a hard time over his sea sickness no doubt. No one had any sympathy for the resident flyer. He wished they'd give him a break. Soaring a sea of clouds and a literal sea were so different.
"If it's much further can’t we just-" Sky was cut off. A sound came from the air. A loud shot rang out. Somewhere between a loud boom and the crack of a whip. Wind immediately hit the deck and called for everyone to do the same. It sounded like cannon fire and the pirates' instincts took over.
The rest of the group got ready and looked around. It was only Time, Sky, Wind, Four, and Warrior on the deck. They all waited and listened. There was no source for the noise. It sounded like it came from the sky itself. There were few clouds around and nothing could be seen in the great blue above. Not even a bird was flying overhead.
A minute passed and everyone started to calm down. There was nothing to be found. No explanation for what just happened. With this group nothing could be called random but nothing had changed. No monsters swarmed the deck and the nerves slowly faded. It was quiet again. Sky looked to Time who gave him a look that said he had no clue.
Another mysterious sound hit right as Time turned around. An ominous wailing sound came from the sky. This time it was closer. Both parties turned to look. Nothing happened for a spare second, until a petal. Delicate and blue appeared from thin air and fell. Slowly wafting down into the ocean.
Sky watched it fade into the blue below. It was clear this strange petal was because of the sound that came before. First the thunder crack, then the wailing, and now this. Time joined him by the railing and Sky leaned over. Standing on the wood to raise him so he could get a better look.
"Don't fall in." Time said. He put a hand on Sky’s back to support him just in case he tipped over.
"I'm not going to-" Sky was cut off again as someone fell into the water before him. It all happened too fast. A blur of blue and a string of music before the person fell into the waves below. He tried to reach out a hand to grab them and catch them but he failed to.
Time Threw himself against the railing. He would have thrown himself over the edge if it weren't for his armour. He was still wearing plate mail. He couldn't go into the water. If he did he would be dragged down by the weight of it all. Instead he turned around and called out something incoherent. Warrior and Four were already rushing forward.
“Wind stop the boat!” Warrior bellowed as he threw off his extra garments. His scarf, rings, and cloak would only get waterlogged and drag him under. He threw himself over the railing. Diving into the waves below. Disappearing along with whoever else was there. Quick to action and to throw himself into the line of fire was he.
Sky just watched, a bit embarrassed he didn't know how to swim as he stood helpless. He looked to Time who was in the same boat. Neither of them could swim, not well for Time’s case. Four looked around frantically. Hoping for some loose rope that he could use to pull them up with. He saw someone fall and knew they would need help. He grabbed some rope off of the deck and passed it to the other two standing there. They each grabbed on and started lowering it into the water.
“I can't stop it but I'll try!” Wind yelled back. He turned the wheel hard and turned left to circle the spot where Warrior jumped in. Twilight Came onto the deck confused and looked around. Wild and Hyrule were below the deck cooking and checking supplies. The trip wasn't supposed to take more than a day unless conditions worsened. It looked like it just got worse.
Warrior surfaced from the waves holding a child in his arms. She looked to only be about ten or twelve years old. She would be ok but they had to get her out now. Who knows how much water got into her lungs while the others just stood there. He looked up at the others who were shouting at him to grab the rope. He took it and tied it around the unconscious kid.
“Pull her up first!” Warrior called. He could wait until they got her to safety. The salt water burned his throat but he didn't mind. This is what he trained for.
“No point in arguing.” Time muttered. They could have pulled up both, but he knew it wasn't something Warrior would even consider. They brought the girl up and untied her. As soon as that was done they threw the rope back down. Time laid her down on her back. They would have to get Hyrule to look her over for healing.
Sky got down on one knee and rested her hand against the girl's forehead. It didn't do anything. There was nothing he could do. He wasn't close to knowing how to help with these types of wounds. He felt useless. He saw that fall first. Was arguably the closest. It was right in front of him. Sky wanted to catch you but it all happened so fast and he didn't know what to do. You just fell and all he could do was watch.
Just like what happened with Zelda when the tornado pulled her down to the surface.
“She’ll be ok.” Sky spoke quietly under his breath. It was mostly for himself but the other two could hear. The kid seemed to be breathing a bit slow. She looked to be sleeping but when she fell she surly inhaled some water. Sky felt useless again as he realised he never learned what to do in a situation like this. He couldn't swim or help around the boat. Well, there was something he could do. Carrying her like a princess he picked her up in both arms.
“Go take her to Hyrule.” Four watched Sky walk by Twilight and down into the lower levels. Sky didn't say anything in response. Never acknowledged the other two still working to pull Warrior up. Twilight followed Sky back down and Wind was still at the wheel. Sky didn't have to say anything, he was helping the kid, but watching him carry her off struck a chord. A mystery was a foot and they all were thinking the same thing. How to get to the bottom of it.
The wind picked up in a sudden blast. Its roaring thunder shook the mast and brought them to the end of their turn. Now they were in roughly the same spot when they started. Wind had used his windwaker to correct his sudden turn. He looked to the others who were too far away to what hoping they'd say something. It was ridiculous to stay quiet while the captain was so obviously trying to figure out what was the hot topic. He called down to the group below. Warrior and Time looked over while Four followed Sky back down.
“You go below deck and get dry.” Time smiled and smacked Warrior on the back. The captain smiled and nodded. “I’ll go talk to Wind and fill him in on what happened. Send someone back up when we figure out what went wrong.”
“Is she ok?” The captain yelled.
“She will be,” Time said. Already deciding that he would make sure she was ok. There was no other option. “She will be.”
. . .
“Thank you.” The kid placed her bowl down. It was dried lentils with some dried meat served. dry bread. The water they had was clean but The rancher gave you some milk instead. You ate everything down. Even went back for seconds. Wild was happy you liked his cooking and Hyrule was beside himself with your recovery. Wild picked up your plate. Moving to give you another helping. “Oh! I'm not hungry anymore- thank you though.”
He nodded and put the ladle down. Carefully eyeing you to make sure you weren't just turning down the hospitality. Didn't seem the type or get upset over others sharing. He was just happy you enjoyed it. It seemed like you needed it. From what you told the others about your journey before meeting them you were mostly on your own.
You did not travel far. Being alone on the road was tougher than you expected but that was alright. You’re safe now. You had told your story of how you had created that accident that sent you over. It all made sense from what they knew. Legends were unclear as to how the triforce worked. regardless, you were too young to be all by yourself.
“If you want anymore just let one of us know.” Hyrule commented. Kids need their food to grow. Hyrule had done what he could for you. Not much water had made its way to your lungs. You have been lucky. Healing wise there was little to be done besides patch up small cuts and bruises. A mixture of travelling on the road and childish mistakes had landed you with a few injuries. In his expert opinion you would be fine.
The fall from earlier had left you exhausted. It wasn't late enough for anyone else to be sleeping, but it brushed up against you. Taking hold and slowly dragging you under as you stretched and yawned. Twilight moved his cloak over to cover you. The fur was warm. Sky glared at Twilight. He was going to offer you his sailcloth but wasn't quick enough. The rancher didn't even acknowledge the other man. He was too busy keeping a close eye on you.
You laid your head against his shoulder. Settling in for a spell. It was warm here. Twilight ran a hand over your head. This reminded him of the kids in Ordon. The young ones he used to care for and protect. He kept them safe even when the twilight invaders tore through the land. It was good news that you were awake and ok. Warrior did a great job pulling you up, but if only he was there sooner. Maybe he could have helped as well.
There was still a pit in his stomach. The idea of you being put in danger because no one was there to protect you, or even to offer you aid made him rage. No kid should be left alone to fight for themselves. It was fortunate that you fell here. This had to have been an act of fate. A blessing for the group.
Sky was sending daggers Twilights way. Hyrule and Four sat between the two of them. Separating Sky from the sweet soul who had crashed into their group. He was sitting closer but when he got up to go retrieve his sailcloth from his pack hsi spot was stolen. Hyrule could be excused because he was the healer, but the other two had no excuse! Even if the rancher was great with kids.
A twinge of guilt and wounded pride, along with jealousy hit him and he tugged off a piece of bread. Biting into it to eat away his guilt. He had to get up again to go talk to Wind. He was stuck up on the deck steering the ship. It wasn't good to leave him all alone but everyone wanted to stick by the new member.
Warrior and Sky had promised to head back up to relieve him of duty. Wind still had to eat after all. Sky just had to finish eating. Normally he couldn't stand to be below deck. It was uncomfortable. Caves, caverns, or anyplace that hid him from the sky. It caused some small part of him to get claustrophobic. Plus he needed the fresh air.
In truth, in this moment, he dreaded going back up. He was eating slowly, drawing out the time he had left just so he could keep an eye on you. The others would do a good job watching over you he knew that. It was just so frustrating. Watching you fall when he was right there. Maybe if he was faster, maybe if his body was better at preventing calamity instead of just fighting it he could have made sure you never got hurt.
He ate the rest of his food in silence. The captain was already done eating and was waiting for him to be done. Once finished Sky gestured to him and they both got up to leave. Putting their plates with the rest to be cleaned when the meal was over. They went up to the deck in silence. Everyone was silent the moment you laid your head down. Protecting the peace so you could get your rest.
Even with what you explained about your triforce it was hard to figure out exactly what it did or what its properties were. You didn't look like someone ripped right out a page of legends. You looked like them. Back when they all first stepped out for their adventures. Quiet, innocent, and unaware of all the dangers that came from having the triforce linked to you. It was a long and dangerous road ahead and they only found each other after they had passed through it all. You however, were only beginning. It didn't have to be like that for you.
Everyone here had carried with them the burden of being chosen by the goddesses and the triforce they created. They all knew how heavy the weight was for someone so young. You were a child growing up and now you had a whole new world thrown on top of the one you were still trying to navigate. The weight wouldn’t crush you, it never did, but carrying it never got easier. You just learned to manage it better.
Not to mention that this was without the issue of people trying to take the triforce piece from you. Hunting you down or having others do it for them. Always knowing that without the support of the kingdom it would be all the harder. You didn't have Zelda to help. You were alone. No older than Wind or Hyrule when they started their adventures. You were a child.
Not only did every single one of them there have a duty to protect those who couldn't protect themselves, they were all in the same spot as you at one point. Sacred, alone, and fighting to keep themselves and others safe. It was true they didn't know what your powers were. That didn't matter. You had passed out from overextending yourself. Teleporting somewhere safe using your powers was impressive. It also would have killed you if they weren't right there.
It wasn't blind luck. You had sensed that it was a safe place and had tried to put yourself onto the deck but it was too difficult. The boat was moving too fast and you couldn't see what was going on. Your powers had pointed you to them. Your life would never be the same. They would keep you with them. Train and guide you and keep you safe from everyone.
The goddesses put you here for a reason. You were their charge now.
They would keep you safe. They would protect you.
Footsteps ran across the deck and into the deck below. Wind came running up and almost crashed into Hyrule as he fell down. He took Sky’s spot as it was closest to their new arrival. He had made a joke earlier, calling you an attempted stowaway which he thought was very funny- but it earned him a scowl from Time. They were so overbearing!
He had to steer the boat the whole time you were down here. He would have abandoned his post just to come say hi. It was good he didn't. Those two tok their sweet time but now that he was here he could hardly complain. It was going to be so much fun having another kid around. He was getting tired, always being treated like a baby sucked.
Wind stared at you. His footsteps echoed in the wooden hull. They were made all the louder by the absolute silence that had fallen on the group once you closed your eyes. Their unanimous decision to stay silent went out the port hole the moment you opened your eyes back up. That silent vow was broken the moment you woke up.
“You're awake!” Wind was loud. Like all kids who were really excited were. It couldn't be helped; he had a lot more energy than the others. Time went to shoosh Wind but stopped the moment he saw you open your eyes. You were wide eyed before smiling. You rubbed some sleep out of your eyes.
“I wasn't going to fall asleep.” You grabbed Twilight's cloak. Pulling it tighter around you. It was warmer than the air outside was.
“Good! I have a lot I want to talk about.” Wind began.
“Should we wait on questions until she’s feeling better?” Hyrule asked.
“I'm not going to question her! I just want to ask a few things!”
“That's the same thing Wind” Legend pointed out. He was about ready for a nap himself. He thought about pulling you over to the sleeping area so you could fall asleep in a proper bed, or at least what came close to it here, but wanted to wait until the group dispersed again. No point in trying to wrestle you away. Everyone was so overprotective.
“No it’s not!” Wind looked over to his new friend. “Where are you from?”
“I’m not from this Hyrule but my home isn't far.” You have already answered this question. It was one of the first things you were asked when you woke up. Truth be told you didn't want to go home. It was dangerous. And too far away to even think about.
“How far away?” Wind asked again. Still bright eyed and super excited. The quiet and almost sombre mood was lost to him. Not that he didn't care, he just couldn't sense it. He was too happy to have another kid here. Hopefully with another one in the group Time would lessen up and stop being so grumpy all the time.
“Wind! She's trying to sleep.” Legend didn't want anyone to play twenty questions when you were so tired.
“We can take you home if you want.” Four said. Already hating himself for suggesting it. What if you said yes? It was a reaction to suggest it.
“I've already asked them this.” Twilight said. He brushed some of the hair out of your face. You looked up at him and then to the group. They all smiled warmly. You were part of their group now. Naturally wherever you went they would follow. The soft fur around your shoulders was a comfort. You didn't respond.
“I don't think they want to go home.” Twilight pulled you close in a one armed hug. He didn't need to know any more than that. None of them did.
“You can stay here as long as you’d like.” Time said. He was ecstatic at the news and tried not to show it. He didn't want to leave you on your own or with people he didn't know. It would break his heart to have to leave you with people who weren't capable of giving you a guiding hand.
“I didn't mean to imply anything. I don't want you to think that I, or anyone, would want you gone.” Four nodded and quickly amended his statement. He didn't want you to think any of them were trying to kick you out already.
“Stay here with us for as long as you’d like!” Wind said, almost yelling again.
“I think I speak for everyone when I say we're glad to have you with us.” Everyone nodded in support of Wild’s statement. The cook had been quiet up to now. He was worried sick when you were first brought down. He hadn't left your side at all since you showed up. Quietly watching to make sure you were ok.
“You're in our care now.” Hyrule said. You muttered a small bit of thanks before closing your eyes again. Wind moved over to your free side and rested his head against yours. Twilight moved his arm to wrap around the two of you and smiled. It felt like home.
. . .
“Checkmate!”
“This is checkers.” Four looked over to Wind. The sailor was obviously joking. He had managed to take one of your pieces and was celebrating the victory. Holding his hand in the air he held up your piece as high as he could. You made your move. Taking one of his pieces in turn.
“This isn't chess so we dont crown them do we?” you asked.
“I think you do…” Four said.
“Only if they make it all the way across enemy lines.” Legend chimed in.
“Then that means-” Wind flipped his piece over to reveal the side of his piece that had a sigil of a crown carved into it. “-I have stolen the power.”
“You stole it? From where!” You said. Looking over. You were in the lead and winning, even if it was because he was going easy on you.
“Doesn't matter from where because I'm a pirate. I leave my mark wherever I go.” You laughed. Wind was happy to have someone to mess around with. He didn't realise how much he missed being a bigger brother until you came around. He was so used to being the youngest member that having you around freed him of that. It didn't free him from dish duty.
Everyone felt the cheer you brought along with them. Warrior, Sky, and Time were the ones who dotted on you the most. Sky was always slipping you treats he picked up from town and carving you out toys. Like this board game he made. It was a miniature checkers board that he made by hand for you to play with. It wasn't the only item he made but it was your favourite by far.
Warrior had been the one to save you, a fact he wasn't afraid to use in arguments when it came down to it. No fight had broken out in a few weeks but it didn't stop him from always treating you like a kid who would trip and break all of their bones. He knew he was too worried about you but he couldn't help it. He knew how hard it could be to grow up on your own.
He had promised himself that he wouldn't let anything bad happen to you ever again. He was always by your side and when he wasn't watching over you Time was giving him a glare from across the camp. Time was a lot like Warrior but more calm. He was a kid once too. He grew up around other children and knew how important climbing up a tree and scraping your knees were for a child's growth.
While Sky doted on you, Warrior was always three steps behind, and Time kept a careful watch while giving you the space needed to move at your own pace.
“Did you steal something from the last town we were in?” You asked. It was a genuine question. Poking to see if he had taken something without sharing.
“No! I don't take from just anyone. Those townsfolk did nothing to us so we let them pass.” Wind gestured for you to take your turn so he could make his next move. He wasn't sure if he wanted to move his new piece or to crown another. He kept forgetting he had to go easy. He didn't want to lose or give up the fight too easily but he didnt want you to grow frustrated and quit.
“Really? Because I swear I saw you swipe something from the guard tower.” Wild said. Pointing at his pack where he had placed the item. Wind paused. He had forgotten about that. You looked up at him and silently moved a piece across a space. Staring at him with a look that said ‘I told you so’. Before looking over to Wild who was watching the match while fixing his armour.
Wild had taken up the role of an older sibling. Much like Wind and Twilight. Difference was, was that he didn't grow up around other kids. He didn't remember the time he grew up. He knew he was different from the others, more rambunctious and wild, but even Time didn't mind his antics. Wind had his sister and Twilight had Ordon. They both were used to kids younger than them and knew how to help.
Even with his disadvantage you always smiled at him. You enjoyed seeing what he was up to and it made him happy. He felt like he had a home again. He even got to drag you along into his safer antics. The old man kept watch while he let you ride with him on the master cycle zero. It was faster than the horse's rancher had shown you and more fun in his opinion.
“What was it?” You leaned conspiratorially to Wind. As if sharing a conversation only the two of you could hear. Even though most of the group was listening in at this point.
“I'm not telling you that!”
“What was it?” You asked again, this time more quiet. Wind caved and leaned in as well. Talking in a quiet voice he said something inaudible. He put a finger to his lips and made a quiet ‘shush’ sound. Acting like he just revealed the grand secret he went back to the game.
“What did he take?” Twilight leaned over to Wild. Wild shrugged in response. He didn't see what it was. Probably an apple or something. They were in the storage room snooping around.
“It was probably nothing important. Please don't take things like Wind does.” Hyrule said. He was hoping that you wouldn't take anything like the others tended to and was sure you would be fine.
Legend looked over to Wind and mouthed ‘what was it’ only to be met with a shrug. The group went silent and the game went on. Wind taking something wasn't a big deal but making sure you were raised under good influences was. Not that any of them thought the others were a threat, rather it was a precaution. If you got in trouble they would have to tear the city apart looking for you. Hyrule watched the game continue with vested interest. He wanted to challenge you after Wind was done but it looked like the group would go back to walking after this match.
Legend, Hyrule, and Four had taken up the roles of both parents who were going to dote on you and siblings who had your back in trouble. Four loved to get into trouble with you and Wind. It was surprising that Legend and Hyrule wound up in this spot as well. Hyrule knew that the group must be so suffocating for a young kid and often took you out on walks and helped give you alone time.
As alone you could be. One of the boys had to be by your side at all times. To make sure you were safe. Hyrule made sure you had your time to relax and wander without going too far. He loved to teach you about the flowers in each region and what they could be used for. You took to nature like a fish to water. Always asking questions and helping him pick suitable flowers.
Legend was trying his best to be the cool uncle. Someone you could look up to without coming off as someone who would shut the fun down. The three dads of the group harked on you so much it was a wonder how you ever got out of their sight. When you did he was more than happy to let you wander as long as you brought someone else with you. Kids were independent. He knew what that was like.
The game ended as soon as you took Wind’s last piece. Cleaning up the pieces you put them all away in your pouch before Sky picked you up. Putting you on his shoulders as he and the rest of the group went back to the road. No matter how far or long you walked you never complained. You hardly ever had to walk as it was. Someone was always carrying you or willing to pick you up.
It was strangely peaceful here. Even though the group was hunting down monsters and constantly getting into fights they somehow always managed to have you avoid it. Either by taking you away to a remote and more safe area or by dispatching the monsters before you got a good look at them. They carved out a peaceful life on the road for you to enjoy. It was the least they could do to the member who brought so much life to their party.

Comic Retrospective: Ghost Inn
What is it about?
Ghost Inn, to the surprise of absolutely no one, is about a haunted inn. One could also say it's about man's inhumanity to man, specifically regarding these two idiots:
When writing any comic, long or short, a key thing is to identify your main focus -- is it a message, a theme, a setting? Triforce of Power as a whole is about Ganondorf and Link (a buddy comedy of sorts), so every side comic needs to do something with them, like:
Exploring an aspect of their personalities
Looking at something new about them (while still staying in-character)
Playing with their weird dynamic
In this case, it was about how their lines of communication break down when faced with bizarre stressors. Like a ghost inn.
Main characters turning on each other, in a true horror story, would be played for horror. Here it is played for comedy. (And winds up being a little heartwarming in the end... kinda.)
Where did the idea come from?
If ideas are hard to come by, I sometimes take two topics, mash them together, and go from there. In this case, the two ideas were:
The creepy woodcutter couple in Okami:
2. And the toilet ghost from Zelda games like Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword:
I just needed a setting in which both a creepy couple and ghost would be together. Hence, the inn!
But something interesting needs to happen regarding Ganondorf and Link, specifically. Which led to the question:
"How would each of them respond to a toilet ghost?"
And the story just kind of wrote itself from there.
Not all character-focused stories need to be about two characters that are so different -- but it does make it really easy to find points of conflict that can propel a story forward in an organic way.
Favorite things about it?
The entire comic being black, white, and red. It was so much fun to do and presented an interesting challenge, especially when it came to Ganondorf's magic.
It also has some of my favorite jokes -- not just for the bonus comics, but for everything ToP-related (including the entire main comic).
Would I make it again?
Basically, if I had the idea but had not completed the comic when I did... would I still make it, knowing what the outcome would be?
Yes. Definitely. Absolutely!
...Also, while rereading it for this post, this part stood out:
^ So, the info about roasted dead people being followed by Link saying he got a lot of free food is....... something I never noticed before.....
But is this story canon?
It could be. There's nothing in it that contradicts the main story, and there are a couple points in the storyline where it could fit. This is up to the reader, I think!
But it is canon in my heart ❤️🤍🖤

The Final Promise₊˚✩⊹
Chapter 3
Linked Universe x reader
Warnings: Angst, fluff, soft and domestic, suggestive themes
You walk out of the bathroom, clad in Sky’ old Skyloft tunic and trousers, dirty clothes in your arms. You walk back into your room and stuff the clothes in your pack, noting to wash them the next time you get the chance.
You hear a soft knock at the door, noticing that Legend was leaning up against it.
“Old Man just wanted me to let you know that we’re leaving at dawn, towards Castle Town. Apparently we have some business to discuss with the resistance.”
Legend takes a moment to take in your form. The tunic Sky gave you was practically falling off of you.
“Oh for the love of- You need a belt… at least till we find you clothes that actually fit you.”
Legend leaves your room and comes back a second later with a leather belt. He walks right up to you and wraps it around your waist, tightening it enough to hold the tunic in place, but not tight to the point you couldn’t breathe. Adjusting the fabric, you hum at how much more comfortable the tunic feels on you.
“Better?” you nod “Good.” you expect him to leave, but he doesn’t. He takes your hands in his and looks at them. His hands are soft yet battered with scars and nicks, and callosed from holding swords for years.
He looks back up at you, searching for something in your eyes, but you can’t tell what.
“Leg? You ok?” you ask, starting to get worried about the lack of words from him.
You don’t expect him to kiss your hand, eye contact not straying from yours. You felt your entire body get hot, this moment feeling so intimate and yet, so natural. It was hard to pinpoint.
“Whatever happens, whatever you decide to do, I’m gonna do my absolute best to protect you. I won’t let anything happen to you Y/n, you hear? I promise you.” he whispered.
You bring up one of your hands to brush through his blonde-pink bangs, and place a soft kiss on his forehead, staying there for a few seconds longer.
“I know, bunny. I know.”
~
That night was sleepless for you. You were up before anyone else, fastening supplies onto your pack and taking note of what you needed to get on your next supply run.
One by one, the heroes woke up and made their way downstairs, surprised at how early you woke up, as you typically were one of the last ones to be awake.
By about 6 in the morning, you were well on your way out of Ordon Village. You were walking alongside Wars and Four, both of whom were a bit too tired to hold a conversation, but you were more than ok with that. You needed some space to think.
What was up with Sky? Especially in the bathroom? You know things have been tense with the Shadow and constantly adventuring, but it seemed like Sky had something on his mind. You needed to find out some time soon, it kept gnawing at you.
And in terms of the other elephant in the room… you were still so lost. What were you supposed to do? You couldn’t just leave the chain, as if the past year and a half was a fun adventure or game. This… this was your life now… but you didn’t belong here. You saw how townsfolk looked at you, even sneering at you for managing to catch the heroes’ eyes. As much as everyone reminded you that you were one of them… you knew you weren’t. You weren’t involved in an ancient prophecy, wielded the triforce, or even came from any of their eras. You were nobody.
~
“But anyways, this bigass fish just came outta NOWHERE and I started slashing at it and using my hook to swing on top of it-” “Wind, stop overwhelming Y/n, I can tell she already got lost at the part with the redeads.” Twilight chuckled, throwing a smile your way “Plus we arrived at Castle Town.”
Castle Town was BUSY. Everyone was bustling about, trying to hit their sale markers for the day, advertising their goods and services. You saw an ancient wares and magical items shop, but Twilight quickly ushered you deeper into the town. You’d have to check it out later.
Entering a quieter alleyway, you make your way down a set of stairs leading to a bar in a corner, no doubt being where this “resistance” acclimated. You remembered playing the game and having a hard time finding it, but you liked the little quest. Despite being in Twilight’s Hyrule twice since you first met the chain, you’ve never actually went into Telma’s Bar.
“Link? Is that really you?” Telma exclaimed, eyes wide open with disbelief. “Didn’t think I’d see you so soon!! I see you brought some friends along?” She said, looking at the boys and then at you “And a partner?” she asked in a teasing tone.
Twilight waved his hands “Ah, no! We’re not like that. These are all my traveling companions. We just came by to see if Shad and Ashei were around.”
Telma’s eyes flashed in recognition. She knew why we were here.
“They’re in the back, they’ve been here since last night. They’ve been expecting you, actually.” She said, towel drying a glass. You all thank her, walking to the end of the hallway.
Opening the door, you see Ashei and Shad hunched over a map, notebooks and books scattered across the table.
“Ashei!” you exclaim, you haven’t seen her in ages, especially since portal-hopping so often.
She gives you a tight hug, smiling at you “How have you been Y/n? Hope Link hasn’t been too rough with ya.” you giggle at her remark, waving her off.
“Nah he’s all good, just a bit stinky per usual,” you chuckle, throwing a wink back at Twilight.
“Y’all are actin’ as if i'm not ‘ere.” he laughed in disbelief, playing along with your joke.
Ashei rolls her eyes, pulling you along to look over the table.
“Alright, anyways, why you’re all here. So, we’ve been lookin’ at the map for a bit and compared our notes with the research team. They said there was a strong pull coming from the Arbiter’s Grounds, located in the desert. Link, I know you were last there with the Twilight Mirror, did you see any other mirror-like objects?” Ashei asks, deep in concentration.
“No. Last time I was there, the Twilight Mirror was destroyed as soon as-” he takes a breath. “As soon as I finished the job.” He says, a far off look in his eyes.
As soon as Midna left him, he meant.
“Right. Ok. Well, Shad did a little more digging and got permission to access Hyrule’s archives, even the forbidden section. Apparently, something deeper is goin’ on.” Ashei gestured at Shad, urging him to continue.
“Ahem, right. I looked through the historical texts in order to see the background and history of the desert, specifically the Arbiter’s Grounds. I looked for hours on anything unusual or anything I didn’t know before, but there was nothing. However, when I got access to the forbidden archives, there were tons of unpublished and banned texts, almost as if…” he trailed off.
“Nobody wanted the public to know.” Time finished, starting to piece things together.
“Correct. So, after reading a bit, turns out there was, or possibly IS another mirror. However, not to the Twilight Realm or a time travel mirror. This one, apparently, to whole other dimension.”
You breathed out, not sure the last time you took a breath. This was a lot, but you had to hear the rest of it.
“The trip itself can take a few weeks, especially since warp locations have disappeared years ago. You’ll need to head to the Arbiter’s Grounds and find a way deeper underground. The map in the book says there’s a whole other tunnel system underneath what has been uncovered during the Twilight Siege.”
“The mirror itself was built by some cult. No one knows the name of it or if its still active, as the mirror was said to be built thousands of years ago, possibly even before the Twilight Mirror itself. The pages on the cult itself have been long ripped out, so as of right now its impossible to know how the mirror itself was made, their motives, and history of the cult.”
The room stayed silent, everyone taking information in as it was thrown at them. Legend was deep in thought, fiddling with his rings, a nervous habit you’ve noticed.
Time and Wars were looking at each other, almost communicating silently.
Twilight had has hand on your shoulder, trying to comfort you or him, it was unclear.
Wind and Hyrule looked worried, unsure of the implications of the cult.
Four’s eyes kept flickering back and forth, as if he was conversing with the colors in his head.
Sky was biting his fingernails, another habit that you noticed from him.
Wild just seemed dazed, looking through you as if he was remembering something.
You just stared at the map, needing a few seconds to process. Holy shit. You might actually be going home.
“You alright, Y/n?” Time asked, placing a hand on your other shoulder. You nodded, not looking away from the map.
Before you could say anything, Twilight stated “Thanks Ashei, Shad. We’re gonna need to discuss a bit before we can go ahead. I assume y’all will still be here for a lil’?” he asked, waiting for confirmation from the two. They both nodded, leaving Twilight to usher you out back towards Telma’s Bar, the others following behind you two.
You all sit down at the bar, Wars ordering a few drinks for all of you, and sliding a pouch of rupees towards Telma as payment.
“Before you start getting guilty about changing our course, don’t. We want to help you, Y/n.” Time stated, not looking away from you.
He knew exactly what you were thinking, it seems.
“But its not your responsibility for you guys to take me home, or lead me there. It’s my responsibility.” you said, voice cracking. “Hell, I wasn’t even supposed to be here, I fell through the portal on accident, and I don’t know how the hell it even landed in my reality to begin with. You guys are supposed to focus on getting to the Shadow, not help me get home because I’m homesick.”
Wars sighed “Y/n, if it were anyone else in the group, we’d help them get home, no matter what. We’re a team. You’re one of us, so we’re going to do this for you. We don’t have to, but we WANT to. We want to help you get home.” He said, giving you a small smile in attempt to console you.
You nodded, “Fair enough, I suppose. I’m not in charge of what y’all wanna do, but don’t do it because you feel like you owe me something.” you said, taking a swig of the alcohol. You needed to loosen up.
No one mentioned it out loud, but they knew what they were all thinking. After all, they are reincarnations of each other in some ways.
They’d do anything for you, you didn’t have to lift a finger and they’d do it. No questions asked.
You didn’t know that though. You just saw them as being too trusting and good for their sakes.
~
“Fuck my ears feel heavy!” you giggled, your face was all pink and you knew you were tipsy.
“I think I'm shrinking Y/n,” Four panicked, gripping his locks in his hands.
“You’re Minish, Four. You’re naturally shrunken.” Legend mumbled, staring off into the half empty glass.
“Fuck, you’re so right.” Four groaned.
You leaned against Time, looking up through your lashes.
“I think you’re realllll handsome, blondie.”
“Is that so?”
“Mhmmm!! It’s not fair. I want them golden locks of yours.”
“Other’s in the group have blonde hair as well?”
“They do??”
You take a look at the others, realizing your mistake “Oh.”
You turn back at him and sigh dreamily “But you’re just so…. Ugh!!! Like a…. Um…. hell I don’t know. I’m not good at metaphors and stuff. You’re just hot. Yeah. Real hot,” you say, swirling your drink for the millionth time that night.
Time just stayed silent, but could feel the blush creeping up his neck. You were drunk, it didn’t mean anything…. But it did. It always did when it came from you, drunk or not.
“Alright, off to bed, you. We’ve got a big day tomorrow.” he said, collective groans coming from around the bar.
He made eye contact with Telma and slid over an extra 20 rupees for dealing with everyone’s shenanigans, mouthing a silent “thank you” at her.
Without another word, he slung you over his shoulder and carried you upstairs, where Telma added some renovated rooms in the past few years, proving to be very helpful with the current situation, as he didn’t want to carry you outside for a few blocks to the nearest inn.
He was gentle with you when he laid you in bed, but your arms were still around his shoulders, refusing to loosen up.
“You gotta sleep, sunshine. We gotta leave early again tomorrow.”
“Mmhh… stay with me?” you asked, slightly sleepy from the alcohol in your system.
Time considered for a moment. This was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
“Of course, scootch over.”
Time slipped his boots off and took off the breastplate and shoulder pieces of armor off, setting it against the dresser to put back on in the morning. You didn’t once look away. You couldn’t.
Your feelings have been so complicated with the chain the past few months. The past few weeks especially. You keep having… moments with them. Not tense, no, more… romantic or intimate. That wasn’t even how you wanted to describe it, but you couldn’t come up with anything else. You weren’t sure if you were reading into it too much, or hoping your 12-year old self was living her fantasy of being with her favorite character, but…. part of you hoped it was true. So when Time turned around, you were standing chest-to-chest with him, or rather chest-to-face as you were at least a foot shorter than him. Curse your genetics and lack of tallness.
“Oh, I’m terribly sorry Y/n, I didn’t see you-” “Time, what’s been going on with you?”
When you were drunk, you didn’t like to beat around the bush. But even with several drinks in your system, you’ve never felt more sober.
“I don’t follow.”
“Oh, I think you do. You’ve been acting off around me. Did I do something wrong? Did I say something?-”
“No, nothing like that-”
“Did I make you uncomfortable? Did I do or say something to make you upset with me?-”
“Y/n, no I-”
“If I did please just be honest with me because I might leave-”
He kisses you, deeply. You can feel your tears spilling from your waterline, fat pearls pouring over. You close your eyes, relishing this moment, praying to Hylia this wasn’t a dream or some mind game. You needed him. You needed them.
You whimper into the kiss, throwing your arms around his neck, him groaning softly in response. His hands are gripping your waist, pulling you closer to him, as if he’s stopping you from running away. Leaving him.
You both hesitantly pull away, a string of saliva connecting you. You flutter your eyes open, looking at Time’s blown out eyes, him slightly panting.
“I like you.” you blurt out, not wanting to waste another moment.
He chuckles at that, “You don’t say.”
You giggle, smacking his shoulder and muttering “asshole”.
With that, you both strip your outer layers and leave on your under tunics and pants, Time turning off the light while you get under the blankets.
You start undoing the small ponytail you made in the morning to keep your hair out of your face, but Time instead starts undoing it, leaving you to put your hands in your lap, waiting for him to finish. He places the ribbon on the nightstand and kisses your shoulder.
“Goodnight, Y/n.”

Botw characters / champions react to a Inner God power reader
(The reader is female and comes from our world and is sweet, nonchalant, happy go lucky) (the reader became the god’s host when they were 14 years old, they are now 17-18 now) (The reader possesses powerful inner god entity power with them that is even more powerful than hylia and the Triforce goddesses . And based on the wiki article inner god gives the reader godlike powers and abilities and knowledge at any level and all levels despite the reader’s lack of experience and is protective and possessive towards it’s host and will tear, wipe out and destroy anyone or anything that harms the reader and will take over the host body to help them if they unable to defend themselves) ( the reader is inexperienced but has a strong bond with the entity which gives the reader enchanted immense power with their abilities)
Link:
He is very wary of you due to your personality and that with such power you possess you should be more mature and be more serious but your not
Keeps the princess away from you at first since despite your sweet nature you also don’t plan out any plans at all and just go for it with your immense power not bothering stop and wait before going to help people and soldiers with a task
Still couldn’t believe you when you told him your power but was convinced when he saw that you could do anything with just a snap of your finger
And when you were distracted or not paying attention he (as well as the others) saw how your power took control and protected you and was harsh towards the enemy
He also saw that nothing could effect you or even kill/defeat you for that matter
Zelda:
Is wary and surprised when she first met you looking around the castle (doesn’t know how you even got in the castle in the first place, you teleported your way in) and when you were taking a nap at sacred spring were she goes to pray
She did not like you at first due to the fact you had manage to unlock your power at a young age and is able to handle it just fine and even form a bond with the ‘entity’ that choose you as it’s host
she also didn’t like how you could just solve any problem with snap of your finger and how you have no experience or any idea about magic, fighting, or even how to be serious for one second always taking thing for a laugh and always try to be optimistic, even in dangerous situations
but over time when she sees your kindness and sweet personality she’ll look less hostile towards you and will ask to help her with unlocking her power and you did and it worked
Will be forever grateful to you for helping her power and for bringing back the champions and her father from death
Deruk:
He will think your power is cool and would always try to be like a brother to you and would hang out with you the most
Likes how adorable you are and just how powerful you are too and would show you off to his people(sorry I don’t know the name)
Is glad that you know how to protect yourself and even help the princess with her troubles and for that he is glad that your here with them
Mipha:
At the beginning she was wary of you but soon began to take a liking to you and the two of you became friends
You show her all kinds of water magic tricks that she has never seen before and is amazing even new swimming methods and how you hold your breath for long periods of time which amazes her completely
She also like how you see things in a positive light and is sweet to the heart and goes to you when she feels jealous when she sees Zelda with link and you listen to her give her some advice to just love herself
You also like playing with young Sidon which makes Mipha very happy
Urbosa:
Was suspicious of you at first and didn’t trust you at all and always kept in eye on you and made sure that you didn’t do anything funny
Try’s to get you to be serious and not so careless just because you have a power that can protect you every single time
Is grateful that you helped the princess with her power and you could easily take out calamity Ganon on your own if you wanted too
Revali:
Is snub when he first met you and did not trust you and was kinda jealous that had absolutely no experience with power yet here you are summoning wings and other magical powers and abilities so careless and freely and it would put the princess hard work to shame
Also didn’t like the you just have wings or could just float above the ground and air
But thanks you( kinda) for helping the princess with her struggles and her insecurities
Hyrule champions+Zelda (all of them together):
Honestly they didn’t know what to think of you at all(I mean a Human? Not hyrule, with god like abilities) it was basically strange and unknown to them and with your immense knowledge and Very many abilities they first saw you as a threat and consider you dangerous to the princess and hyrule
They all met you when they heard a loud boom with pink, gold-ish , along with a hint of rainbow glow outside the castle after the knight ceremony. As the made their way to the source of the light thinking it was the arrival of calamity Ganon but… but no it wasn’t in fact but it was you standing in the middle of the crater from the light that had faded from your arrival and they were shocked and confused because of the fact you had normal ears and light dark skin with a very questionable sense of fashion ( like your wearing modern day clothes colorful sleeved shirt and soft pants or a modern dress with high heel boots that looks weird to them) along with the appearance of a young girl(remember 14 year old but you are around the age of 17-18 now) which leaves them in shock and curiosity while keeping their guard up in case
once you step out from the crater you are immediately surrounded by guarded guards and Hyrule’s very champions having their weapons pointed at you and looking at you with a serious expression on their face meanwhile you just have a small smile on your face because you had expected this kind of treatment and just glad you manage to get here just in time to save everyone from their tragedy fate and you had a plan on just how to save them all with your power
(There will be a sequel to this )

The Power of Understanding / Pilot (Part 1 v2)
Rewritten to v2 on: 2023/09/10
Cheat Sheet
Read of Ao3
Chapters: Pilot, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9
Summary: You have been with the Chain for a while now, as their "scholar" and translator. You know everything about them, because you are from our world. But do *they *know the truth about how you can understand everyone?
A little introduction and world building concept for the Translator!Reader and her adventures. Check notes below for more info!
Non-linear fic.
AU fic, prior to TotK (instead of TotK, chain events happen).
Loosely based on the same reader in my NSFW fic, which is a very loose prequel to this one, and a work in progress.
More background info to come, if I feel like it :D
Warnings: None, maybe some cussing, but nothing is censored. SFW content.
Points of interest: This is your thing if you are into the mystery of chain being able to talk to each other. I am an actual trained linguist IRL, hence this HAD to be written!
You were daydreaming in the middle of the day about him again, amidst the smell of horse shit around you, when you're supposed to be finishing the work you have until the end of the day. Or until a new portal pops up to swallow you all to Goddess knows which Hyrule this time. Damned black-blooded monsters. At least, this gave you some break.
You, coming from our own era, have been acting as the scholar of the Chain for the last couple of years, while hopping from world to world with them. Knowing this, Malon put you to work on the books of the ranch, instead of letting you deal with the cows or the horses, even though you really didn’t have anything specific to do with maths. You thought she was being kind to you, not letting you deal with dirty ranch work, you guessed? She was a sweetheart either way.
You wanted to hang out with Twilight at the same time, so instead of using the little study Malon offered, you took the books and went down to the stables. You continued with your own stuff, while he was taking care of the horses.
There was also this little thing: you were the only one who understood every single one of them, (almost) very clearly, comparatively speaking. Sure they could communicate without you just as well, but due to a bunch of coincidences, you were the closest thing to the “translation magic”, if you can call it that. Maybe it was your Hoshi Sato gene*. Maybe it was the fact that you actually stayed with Link & Zelda in the post-Calamity world, around two years prior meeting the Chain**, maybe a bit of magic was also involved. Hylia works in mysterious ways! Did it almost cost you your brain? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely.
Some Links, of course, understood each other better than the others, especially when their eras were, linguistically speaking, not that far. Time and Twilight were just fine. Legend and Hyrule were already able to understand each other, even a little bit better than Time and Twilight. Sky was a bit further away and had a “funny way of saying things” (according to the Sailor), almost gibberish, but when you listened and when he spoke slowly enough, you could at least get the gist of what he was trying to say. Wind, Time, and Warriors already knew each other from other “incidents” before the Chain, so they already had a way of communicating.
These worlds also did not have many invasions and wars by “outsiders”, if you don’t count things like the Triforce War, Imprisoning War, Sealing War, and of course, anything that had to do with Demise, Ganon & co. and their horrible reincarnations. This meant, not a lot of language change.
In the end, what happened was that over the two years you have been together with the group, you helped them understand each other better. They adjusted their accents, and somehow warped the Hylian they speak in a way that the group would understand (and especially you), when the dialogue was still within the group. Of course, the Old Man would speak more “naturally” with Malon and vice versa, and some of the chain would adjust better (e.g. Twilight or Smithy) to the language of the era they are in. After some point, communication was not that much of a problem. You learnt it all in the end.
Writing?
Funny enough, Wild, Sky, and Twilight had similar scripts. Time and Wind had more similar writing systems. Wild, Wars, Legend, Time, and Rulie were also better at understanding the scripts of their respective eras. Overall, other than a couple of hiccups, most understood the others’ script to an extent.
And then there was Wild. Also known as “The Cook” nowadays. The rest of the chain didn’t know you called them the Chain in your mind, and had your little nicknames for them. The nicknames most likely revealed a bit too much, and even though most of the secrets were out nowadays… You knew better than to risk more. You have caused enough damage, you would think sometimes. Even though you just couldn’t resist the urge.
Anyway… Wild, his case and communication issues… were complicated.
According to the rest of the chain when you guys first met, whatever he was saying (and vice versa) was almost complete gibberish at first. Some terms and special names like “deku,” “korok,” “Hylia,” “Hyrule,” “rupee,” and such were still there, albeit with a different accent, and they helped, but it was not enough. You only found out later that it was kind of… your fault.
In the end, he was also able to communicate with them just fine. Each Link had their own… language variation and accents, so to say. Some of them did not even have the difference enough to call it a “dialect” comparatively. As you thought, language change is a slow enough process, and with the lack of ‘conflicts’ (for lack of a better word) compared to your world, no wonder they were still somehow able to understand each other. .
The Goddesses work in mysterious ways indeed.
How did it work for you, though? There was this little secret that… First time around, when you first dropped into Wild's Hyrule, “Hylian” was basically a weird mesh-up of English and Japanese to your ears, after the enchantment from the Great Fairies you have received. It was “so you could slowly understand and grasp and communicate”, you were told.
Oh boy, it really felt like a genie granting you a wish, but in its own twisted way. You found that out later though.
Second time around when you first met the rest of Links, though? The first enchantment… kind of messed everything up. Second time around, you actually ended up learning real Hylian. At least, the Hylian that was used as a lingua franca between you guys.
Of course, some learning skill enchantment was definitely not out of the deal this time as well, thanks to Rulie & Time and their fairy friends, and of course the Smithy. But what a disaster it had been! Well, it wasn’t your fault that the first time the enchantment was made, nobody calculated that you would meet the Links from other eras.
You also naturally know the reason behind why Links in kind of irrelevant eras could decipher each other's texts, even when they didn’t understand the words all the time. Some were based on the Latin alphabet, and some were on Japanese kana. No way you could clearly explain it to them.
“Oh, by the way, you are made by a game company called Nintendo, and this guy is called Miyamoto…”
Yeah, no. That didn’t go well last time. Nobody even understood what you meant.
That was a battle to fight for another day… Now, you need to focus on the budget of the Lon Lon Ranch. And not be distracted by Twilight’s statue.

Note
What if the reader is a chimera? They orginal died because they took a deadly hit for their sibling, which is the hero of their hyrule link, but their silbing is the hero of hyrule. He couldn't accept the fact that he failed to save his silbing reader, so he used dark magic to bring back reader and manged to split his Triforce of courage to give to reader to prevent their soul from breaking and not allow Ganondorf to use them as a tool . He hides what he's done even so far as he keeps the reader with him during his whole journey as the hero, even when he and reader met the chain. At first, reader's link is not trusting of the heroes and super protective of reader since he doesn't want to lose his silbing again and took some time for him to trust the chain near or alone with his silbing. Eventually, he accepted, but when asked about the split Triforce of theirs, he'll cleverly lie to them, but he knows deep down, one day, the true will be reviewed to the chain of reader is a chimera, link will defend his silbing reader even if he have to draw the master sword to protect his silbing.
They have a human appearance with strong magic flowing through them, yet if all options when faced with a difficult enemy(ies) and there's no other or little choices reader turn to their chimera body a giant body of a lynnx, a tail of a lizafo, loftwing wings and claws but waist and upper body of a human as the head. Reader chimera is physically powerful and stronger and can still use magic as well. Reader doesn't remember how they died or why their brother link is suddenly protective til he eventually tells them the truth. Reader is brave, kind, and a skilled knight. When they first met the chain, their curious yet weary, but they treated the chain like normal people rather than heroes, and they clam their brother link down when he and warrior are at each other throats.
What an interesting concept.
I would imagine that Reader's Link would be dealing with the dilemma of "I wanted you back. I couldn't let you rest and you're not the same. And I'm no longer the same. But after all this time I can't let you go and you're non the wiser-"
Or however that string of words goes. ^.^*
I think the Master Sword would still react to Reader to a degree. Not necessarily burning t the point of stuff, but necromancy is technically a dark magic, which Fi doesn't take kindly to.
I think it wouldn't necessarily bode well for Reader of their Link when the Chain get the gist that something isn't quite right there.
I don't know how Link is going to be able to keep it as a secret when they have so many magic sniffing people around. (Looks at Legend)
#pinky replies#chimera! reader#maybe the triforce in them can help mitigate it#so the master sword doesn't have a *violent* reaction#but I think there would be a subtle enough reaction to set the heroes off anyway#mostly Sky since he's the most in tune with the blade anyway

Linktober (Shadow) 2023, Day 11
Monsters (Dead Hand)
Summer Stop Giving Reader/PoV Character and the Chain a Hard Time and Trauma Challenge (impossible) /j. But really I'll probably write something lighter for Linktober or Linktober Shadow later to compensate for this one lol. Probably a sequel to this one that has Reader actually having a nice time with the Links for once.
Technically since unfortunately studying for future exam season in like a couple of days has been kicking me in the ribs and thus my time was highly cut and unfortunately I don't have an Ocarina to give me more, this is actually a mix of prompts! The ones in the title, Keese, Wolfos, Wizzrobe, Lizalfos, Redead, and Boss, although they are not the focus here, mostly just mentioned but technically checking out the boxes, maybe next time I'll go more in deep on that (Like the original idea that basically was Reader taming a pet Wolfos as a guard hound that I will not elaborate on at least not this year), instead y'all get this with the boss that gave a lot of people childhood trauma and was never seeing again since because we really don't talk about just why Dead Hands are terrifying much, just that they are, really missed opportunity to use them more in an LU context lol.
As always any relationship between Reader and any of the Chain can be interpreted as romantic or platonic, and Reader is Gender Neutral on Purpose. And First is here because again, this would have been longer if exam season wasn't kicking me in the ribs and I have some really evil ideas involving First, Reader and Time bonding over having trauma of enclosed spaces, but thankfully y'all don't get that today lol, or not, it would be a really fluffy scene so up to y'all if it's a win or a loss.
TW:
Don't think there's anything too heavy-ish? But I'm a horror fan so I'm not someone who can accurately judge that. I'd say graphic descriptions of violence and gore, and being restrained/pinned in place and the entire deal that is the Dead Hand's existing, so please don't read if you're squeamish or uncomfortable. Health is important and specially mental health and I always leave these warnings on Linktober Shadow related prompts or heavier stories, so just a heads up so no one is caught by surprise.
Anyway, enjoy reading!
It was an almost unanimous agreement that no hero liked to pass through a cemetery in Hyrule.
From the restless Gibdo, to the mischievous yet usually cruel Poes and the lost Ghini, to the ever wandering Stalfos and the ghastly agonized Redead and ever determined ghoulish Garo, nothing good ever came from entering in areas where dead things roam. You can't be sure if it's because of the magic in Hyrule, the living force of light and shadow and the divinity coursing through the land, or simply the will of the undead or the consequences of Demise attempting to claim the Triforce, graveyards and desolated fields meant silence, they should be where those who are gone should finally acquire their final catharsis, not to roam endlessly without release, solemn as these places are they are still places for a peaceful end and to be denied such due to the whims of the Shadow... You can think of very few awful fates that can compare.
('Terrible fates, you could say.' The grimly bemused part of your mind whispers, as you walk alongside Time further down into the crypt that you and the Chain had followed the shadow into, silver, prisitne armor briefly blends with old, rusted, bloody gold and you think you hear the rattling of bones in the distance, the draw of a rusted, but still serviceable sword. You shut it away with a snarl as you cut down the Stalfos attempting to ambush Wild from the rear, and it goes down and back into the darkness with a screech alongside the chilling knowleged and the sick cracking of broken bones, not on your watch, never on your watch, you refuse.)
"Of all places why did it have to be a bloody crypt?" Grimaced Warriors, casting a weary glance towards the skulls decorating the walls, their empty sockets empty but silently cutting, as if sneering at the fact you lot had dared disturb the dead, as if it wasn't the Shadow's mere presence making what would otherwise be a place for rest into a possible death trap.
Legend smirked, though you could tell he wasn't anymore pleased from the way he marched through the cold, cracked stone floor, steps flighty and eyes darting around corners, "What, a bit too much for you, soldier boy?"
"No," came the prim answer, although the twitch of the hand near his scabbard as you stepped into an open chamber gave him away, as well as Wind being kept at his side rather than near the wall, "Just don't generally like fighting the undead in closed spaces. It's a recipe for disaster."
"On that I believe we all can agree on." Came Time's voice, cutting through the banter, tense as a drawn bowstring, you knew being back in a crypt wasn't easy for him, with the way his jaw tensed, you both had the same awful memories of a similarly buried, abandoned place where dead things roamed without cease, frantic, hungry for the warmth of the living, "Keep your guard up, and stay close together."
Almost as if on cue came the monsters from the open corridors, you didn't hesitate in drawing your blade to cut through the enemy, keese were easily dispatched by Four and Legend's swords, you spun to slit the throat of a growling Wolfos from Twilight's era going for Sky's back just as he mercilessly chased down the Black Lizalfos, the beast clearly avoiding the glow from the Sword of Evil's Bane. Time's back to yours as you cleared the path for him and blocked the Shadow's exit through the left corridor, it had already proven that it would not matter if you did or not, but you refused to not let it work for survival.
The jolt of magic being used crawling up your spine was your first warning. Like the build up of lightning in a storm, the taste of rust and a feeling like tar slithers up your throat.
The second was Wild's warning shout as the chamber shook with the grating, chilling, blood curdling howl of the Redeads, Time lunging away from your side to slash the beasts away from Wind and Warriors with all of the fury of a wolf defending it's pack, before you had to throw yourself back, slamming your back against the arch on the right as it caved in, lest you be crushed alongside the Wolfos coming for your neck the second the older hero moved.
You were separated.
You were alone.
A really, really bad spot to be when in Hyrule's catacombs.
"Are you alright?!", Came muffled from the other side of the stones, the hint of an actual wolf's growl and the distinctive Ordonian cadence, Twilight.
"I'm fine! Keep fighting, I'll find my way to you guys!", You yell back, heart racing, trying not to think about what you could find on your way back, you didn't have any bombs on you, it wasn't feasible to use them in a place as old as this, not without risk bringing down the ceiling on you and the Chain. But most catacombs have interconnected hallways, if you moved quickly, you might just avoid finding anything that you won't be able to handle on your own.
You think Twilight replies, but it's muffled by another Redead's yowl, you wince, your muscles lock up and you feel something warm drip from your ears, but thankfully you are not rendered immobile due to the involuntary wall, you swallow your trepidation and get moving.
The further you get away from the fallen stones, the more silent the catacombs extending from the crypt you were dropped in became, shadows twist oddly by the torches upon the wall with only your breathing and the cold, unfeeling remains of the dead to keep you company, the lowly burning flames bringing you no warmth. The corridors blended together in the darkness cast by the faint light, the shades contorting themselves in the crevices of your paranoia the longer you went on with only your own hurried footsteps to make any true sound.
Not one monster had found it's way to you thus far, though, and according to the copy of the map Legend had made the second you had acquired the original from a very unfortunate Wizzrobe from Wild's era. You just needed to pass one more open chamber to find the corridor leading to your boys, You couldn't keep them waiting, who knew how long it would take for the fight to finish if Redead's were involved? And staying still when the Shadow could turn itself intangible was practically begging it to switch it's attention, it usually didn't pay you as much mind as it did the heroes, Time specially (it seemed to hold a grudge against him more than any of your boys, you noted bitterly), but it would occasionally target you if it meant getting a rise from any of the Link's or if it felt you were too secure in your safety, it was better if you found your way back first to the hunt before you became hunted.
You grit your teeth, by Hylia's dripping gash, you were so. darn. tired. of. being. hunted.
Of watching your friends being led into a wild hunt with no end in sight, dragged by the noose by a remnant that refused to stay dead, you never thought you could burn with so much anger, with the desire to see if fire would scare it sober into ceasing in it's infection of all of Hyrule's Eras. But unfortunately you knew it didn't work like that, so you had to survive, you would survive, because someone had to protect the heroes when the heroes protected everyone else and if no one was going to step up to the job, you'd just have to do it yourself.
Shaking yourself from your thoughts, lest you end up drowning in them, you breath in relief as soon as you come upon the metal door with the symbol of the royal family, faded and rusted with age, there. You just needed to pass through this chamber and the corridor next to it, and you'd be back with Link, all of them, and hopefully out of here. You push it open, grip tightening on your long dagger, almost a sword, good enough to cut and hide. The thick and pungent combination of old, congealed blood, sick and decaying flesh, something like rotten eggs dipped in alcohol and withered flowers hits your nose, making you nauseous but you press on, the chamber is circular and dimly lit, with a long cracked, soft stone from a leak in the walls. You studiously do not look at the far corner of the dungeon or the pillory's and shackles scattered around near the cells, there's a second door to the other side, as soon as you pass through it you'll be in another corridor.
... It's silent, too quiet. Unease slithers and twists around you like vines, but you can't delay, you won't, so you keep walking-
Until you can't.
Something has grabbed a hold of your leg. You look down, and your blood freezes, spotting a long, sickly, pale arm and a bright crimson, elongated nails, claw-like, digging into your ankle, having dug itself up from the fragile ground.
You don't hesitate, slashing down violently at the offending limb, frantic terror spreads through your blood, you knew what was here. It featured in your nightmares for a long, long time, you knew it still haunted Time's, the limb goes slack as it is severed, and you barely note the way it starts bleeding black and green at the stump, thankful for Four's expert craftsmanship and maintenance hints as you dive to the exit. You don't make it far, it's companion limbs bursting in front of your path like a snake emerging from the ground, it makes a solid grab for your arms, one of them grabs you by the scalp, firmly digging as you dodge and weave between, a stabbing pain upon your skull from the indomitable grip of something fueled by fury, twisted magic and rigor mortis and makes you cry out, your slight moment of hesitation allowing two more hands to latch onto your legs and arms, nails slicing through your flesh like easily and digging, tearing like a rabid hunting dog's teeth upon an unfortunate deer, leaving deep gashes upon your arms and ankles, it's not unlike being pinned and held to a torture rack, in hindsight, ironic given just where in the crypt you ended up.
Your hear the ground below shifting below you, a groan carrying through the air, awfully monstrous, coldly human. You struggle harder like a desperate butterfly upon a dissection board, from your peripheral, you see the form of the thing unhurriedly dragging itself over, it uses the sharp and bloody ends of where bone was broken to slice it's hands off to shuffle out of the grave, using it's stubs as support. Long long neck barely supporting it's elongated head, the scent of rot intensifies and you feel like gagging as it settles it's empty, frigid, hungry eye sockets on your bound form; it's broken jaw contorting itself in a mockery of a human smile over rotten gums and exposed teeth, stretching unnaturally and bringing emphasis to it's rotting, bloodied sunken features. From behind it's bloated, putrid shape, barely obscured by the bloodied white cloth and the grotesque vision of the undead you swear the crimson eyes of the shadow, watching you coldly, the hint of a knife sharp, serpentine smile as the sound of wet meat slamming across the ground rings in the chamber.
Fury mixes with your panic as you snarl, trying to twist the dagger in your grip as best as you can to drive it into the arms, pain and blood drips from the open wound but you don't care; you need to get away from the Dead Hand. A monster like that feels no pain when struck for it is not human, not any longer, and you couldn't hope to face an infected one alone, it shuffles over the floor, unhurriedly shuffling like a predator that knows it's prey can't run away, it moans and groans with hunger as it approaches and you have no intention of giving it a meal, you grit your teeth as the nails sink deeply into your shoulders and arms, using your blade to saw through rotting flesh and hopefully break bone with every single inch of strenght you have, the blade is slick in your hand with your own blood and the poison-tar of the Shadow's infection burning through you but you do not mind, can't. You need to get away-
The undead's teeth sink into the hollow of your collarbone, blunt, human teeth that shouldn't have half the strenght it does to rip through flesh, blood and crack bone, and you caterwaul with pain, skin crawling and numbing and set aflame with curses sent from the dark reflection of the hero, darkening, veins blackening, your eardrums vibrate with the force of your own agony and you are sure you could rival a Redead on pitch alone of your tortured howl. Struggling even more ferociously, attempting to disloged it, kick it off, your blade sucessfully slashes through the arm from your reverse grip, pushing away from it with the savegery off a cornered predator you sink your long dagger into the undead's eye sockets, tearing through it's cheek with animal ferocity, it keens high and chilling, you're losing blood quickly and it (for it's not a human, not anymore, you can't feel sympathy for it, won't. You can't hesitate.) knows, for it tries to chomp down onto your vulnerable neck, your arm being the only thing keeping it from biting it out as you growl with pain, although you can't be sure it just won't bite through, it's teeth are bared, the pitch of it's blank eyes locked onto yours in stalemate, you have the advantage of not being weakened by hunger and decay, not sluggish like it but that will not help for long, the clammy being determined to bleed you dry and feast on your corpse and you are drowning drowning drowningDROWNINGWITHWRETCHEDTORMENT MAKE.THE.PAIN.STOP-
A scream of your name, sword calloused hands yank you away from claws and fangs (because nothing with blunt teeth and nails should be able to wound someone so throughly), you waver on your feet, swaying, supported by a warm, strong body and pulled away. A sword slashes the foul being away from you and you go lax, numb with pain.
First, First was supporting you. Keeping you steady, stopping you from falling, snarling at the corpse with a lion's fury, holding you protectively. Time tears by him like a man possessed, frenzied with the look of a man looking at his worst nightmare and growling in denial. The Links, wounded but alive, the Chain had met you halfway.
The last thing you remember before losing conciousness as adrenaline leaves your body and everything goes dark, is wishing that they'll burn it to be sure it's gone for good. It's the kindest thing that can be done for a such a wretched existence.
You'd be okay.

Modern Reader Adopts BOTW Link (Drabble)
Something goes wrong in the Resurrection Chamber. Link is awake, but he has yet to emerge. It's when small cries echo out that the spirit of the former king decided to go investigate.
Link is alive, but regressed in age so much that he's physically and mentally five years old! He didn't have the stanima to climb the wall, nor the strength to move boxes to help him climb over.
Desperate, the king spirit uses a form of ancient, forbidden magic to bring forth someone who could raise Link to be the hero Hyrule needs him to be in 3 years' time.
After getting over the shock of dimension travel, your immediate reaction was rage.
You encourage Link to wear your sound canceling headphones, and then you unleash your anger.
You rip into the ghost king with his past failures, reminding him that this is all his fault. Harshly critique his parenting skills and degrade him for the nerve of sending a child to fight an adult's war.
He argues back that Link is the descendant of a wielder of the Triforce and how some of his predecessors saved Hyrule at eight years old.
You show him Link's hand in response. No triforce symbol there.
"But how can this be?!" The king cried. "He's a direct descendant!"
"You fool. Courage is not a trait one inherits through bloodlines." You reply.
The king then tries to magically speed up Link's growth, but it hurts the child! You attack in retaliation. Ghost or not, you were throwing hands!
Your straightforwardness and protective nature earned you the triforce of courage, and you use it to end the ghost king like Harry Potter did Professor Quirrell. You choose to dwell on the fact that you have magic later and comfort your new son.
The child clings to your shirt, as far as his little arms could reach, and sobs as you cradle and nuzzle him.
"There, there. The bad man's gone now. Mommy made sure he wouldn't be able to hurt you any more."

Tell me some of your favorite headcanons for the boys ?
I mean... I'm afraid of answering this for BDOR spoilers, because I have put all of my favorite head canons into that fic, obviously. Oh well, I figure most of my readers don't follow me on tumblr. So here's my head canons both for LU and my specific story Blood Drops on Roses.
Twilight -- used to have "anger issues" when he came back from his quest as a teen that was really just him being hurt and lashing out (I already had this idea, but it evolved a lot with your fics where he gets overwhelmed @somer-writes XD). He just... feels a lot, and feels it genuinely.
Sky -- I think this guy has gone through some /trauma/ compared to the other heroes. With his sunny nature and calm disposition---I think it's borne of a greater understanding of himself and his own limits. I do kinda hate the "trauma made them stronger uwu" trope, but for Sky that's true, because he put in the work and chose to be kind after all the horrible things that happened to him. Also, he's not bad at cooking traditional Skyloftian meals, like hot drinks.
Wind -- I think that he doesn't have all the inherent qualities, especially bravery and self-sacrifice, that the others have because they were "destined to be heroes" while he was not. Now, he's learned them, sure, but I think that jumping into battle still doesn't come as easily to him as it does to some of the others. But that also comes to my HC about the Triforce and its effects on its wielder (I've also got a fun thing for Wild on that one).
Hyrule -- I think that his healing magic isn't exactly... light. A lot of people HC that his magic is fairy magic, and I think that's partially true, but for him to be able to transform and access it in human form... I think there's something else going on there. But yeah, I've changed this guy's backstory a lot, I hope I don't have the Hyrule stans coming after me XD
Legend -- I think that he's a lot more chill about Koholint and things being "not real" than a lot of other people HC. Sure, it's always there in the back of his mind, but he'd rather have helped and fought and even fallen in love and it not be real than to hold himself back from that for fear of getting hurt again, because he's tried that. Also, I think he's slotted Time into the Uncle role in his mind, but that's not really plot important (or is it?)
Time -- @needfantasticstories >:D you know what's up with this poor guy. But yeah, I HC (and I've said this before), that he and Wind met in Mario cart, sometime before this adventure for Time, and sometimes after for Wind. There's not a lot of evidence for that, I'm just making up stuff as I go. Watch out for an author's note for that on the chapters near Too Quiet I'm tryna set up a joke XD
Warrior -- I think he's so teasing of the other heroes because he wants to hold them all at arm's length. He's still a bit traumatized from being betrayed, so he keeps that charming front of his up and keeps anyone from getting too close and seeing the real him. I think even Time (or at least, what we know of him) hasn't seen that genuine side of him, at least in a while.
Four -- I can't say that I have anything unique for him, when it comes for head canons that differ from LU norms. He is good at interpersonal conflicts, I also think he's good at self-reflection and helping others through their emotions. I do think he has four people in his head at all times, but they work around each other. I kinda go on and off about whether his eyes change color. He does have blue screen moments if he's startled or confused, and the panic of needing to move suddenly or choose quickly just makes it worse.
Wild -- currently multiple emotionally stunted gremlins in a trench coat. No, I will not elaborate :D
I'm turning the question back on you @wanderlustmagician and anyone else who wants to join in---what are your head canons for the boys?

LoZ Prompt - The Heart of the Heroine (Yan!GanonxFem!Half-Sheikah Link Reader)
TW: Noncon, Stockholm, Lima, brainwashing, death, panic attacks, & madness. Possible tragic end.
Where Ganondorf has won, both Zelda & Link are dead, but Link took his Triforce piece with him in death, so Gan has to search for it. He uses Black Magic to stay alive, young, & strong.
The Reader was born with the Triforce of Courage bound to her more tightly than any before.
When he finds her, he senses the Triforce in her & kidnaps her, but no matter what he does, he can't remove it from her & it isn't responding to him.
Ganondorf learns from his sorcerers that the Hero placed a seal upon the piece with his dying breath that would make it so it can't be retrieved from a corpse, so if he ever plans to get it, it must be with her alive or he'll have to go looking for it again.
So, Ganon decides that if he cannot have the Triforce of Courage, then he will simply have to settle for possessing the Heroine as his slave.
Which is what Reader becomes.
I see this becoming something of a Beauty & the Beast meets Stardust situation, but much darker.
Reader is spunky, determined, & defiant with eyes sharp like a predator. Sometimes even downright feral & is likely to try & bite & claw at Ganon for his troubles. (I can definitely see them bickering like an old married couple in the end.) A real spitfire that bears the unnatural talent for fighting & the understanding of weapons that all past Heroes were known for. Though, while she is strong like past Heroes, she is not quite as much so as previous ones due to her sex. However, she makes up for it with an unnatural agileness, flexibility, & stealth that makes her difficult to keep a hold of & fight back against.
Perceptive & observant, Ganon often feels like she's dissecting him from a distance & it makes him uneasy.
She's also quite intelligent, logical, & a master debator.
A year or so later, his sorcerers discover that the only way he can obtain control of the Triforce of Courage is by possessing her heart.
As a sick fuck, he naturally assumes that it means he needs to cut out her heart & eat it while still somehow managing to keep her alive, but by that point, he'll have developed an obsession with her & taken her into his bed, making her his favored concubine. (Yes, I do mean rape. It's gross-nasty, but in this situation, I see Ganondorf being the sort who would get a sick satisfaction out of dominating the Heroine who was meant to kill him.)
He sort of waffles about it before deciding that he can simply wait for her to grow old & lose her beauty & usefulness as a bitch before doing the deed.
Eventually, more will be learned & it'll be revealed that the requirement wasn't literal, in so much that he needs her to fall in love with him. At which point, she'll freely give her heart to him in a figurative sense, thus giving him ownership of the Triforce piece bound to it, which will let him make the wish he wanted. However, making said wish will kill her.
Asshole doesn't even hesitate.
Initially, he uses a love potion on her, but all it does is make her adoring, submissive, & obedient. Turns out, the love must be genuine & such potions are, by their very nature, false & effectively halt the development of actual emotional attachments, so he's forced to have an antidote made. (Which takes at least a month, during which he finds that he has mixed feelings about the enchanted infatuation. On the one hand, he likes how affectionate, agreeable, & downright eager she's become to please him. On the other hand, he'd liked her feistiness, biting wit, & how she used to challenge him.) Which, once Reader realizes what the asshole did, she'll be pissed!
Either way, Ganon really switches gears upon learning how he can get his wish. Still abusive & dominant, but he's at least trying to make an effort to be... agreeable? He also makes an effort to be flirty & charming. Dude even takes advice from the few subservient to him that are in successful relationships to try & exploit how such love works. Which include several Gerudo & the entirety of the Yiga.
Who have basically replaced the Hylians as the majority while the Hylians & Sheikah have been made into slaves. Their males tend to only have 3 options in life: serve Ganondorf as part of his army, menial labor, or breeding studs for the next generation of Gerudo. This typically results in them becoming sex slaves, prostitutes, & concubinusi (male concubines).
And those men who join the army & catch too much attention as warriors are still liable to be made into a concubinus in the harem of a high-ranking Gerudo in an effort to make strong Vai for the next generation. In many ways, if you are born a male Hylian or Sheikah, you're effed.
Most men upon being selected for a Gerudo's personal harem, can only hope to woo her so that she may choose him as her husband.
Interesting thing, the conquering of Hyrule wasn't just bad for Hyruleans, but also the Gerudo culturally. As it has resulted in them losing sight of one of their most sacred beliefs: monogamy & partner exclusivity. Though many of the lower & middle class Gerudo still practice these things, the Gerudo elite have become swollen with arrogance & pride, thus resulting in them forsaking their race's beliefs in pursuit of their own pleasures. As such, more & more Gerudo have begun to take multiple husbands. Beforehand, even just 2 spouses were enough to get side-eye & whispers, while 3+ was considered folly. Now-a-days, it isn't unheard of for most elite Vaien to have 3 husbands.
One thing that is still sacred is the dismissing of one's harem upon engagement. Though there have been 1 or 2 who have tried to keep theirs even after marriage which, in the past, would've been unheard of & the sign of an addled mind. They would literally be condemned for insanity.
See, the Gerudo have always been sex positive, but culturally-speaking, there was a big difference between having fun & being lose with your body. And concubinusi & harems were considered perfectly fine so long as you weren't married, as marriage is considered a sacred commitment not to be trifled with.
The reason for this is due to infidelity being seen as a huge taboo amongst the Gerudo. To the point of death being considered an appropriate punishment. Which led to them accepting the Hyrulean goddess of love, passion, & pudicity, Karina (called Vah Kàvtrïna by the Gerudo), a long time ago.
Though, some good things have also come of it. Such as the Vaen of Talthïrï now being allowed to marry. (To learn about Vaen & their effects on the Gerudo culture, go to Vae & the Spring of Talthïrï. Be warned, it's kinda weird.)
Which, the sex industry is, unfortunately, flourishing. And the ancient Gerudo practice of Feminizing the Enemy is still alive & thriving.
Not to mention how Ganondorf has gone full colonialism. As in, he's burned Hyrulean churches & all their books. He's basically destroyed all Hyrulean religion & replaced them with Gerudo theology & books & temples. Though, he didn't even try to rewrite history. In fact, he makes it very abundantly clear that Hyrule was conquered & rather arrogantly dares anyone to even try to rebel against him.
Ganondorf very publicly revels in the fact that the Hylians know that they were once something more than what they are now & have since been reduced to slaves.
This was a full-scale hostile takeover where Ganondorf now rules as the God-Emperor of Hyland (the continent on which Hyrule can be found).
Anyway, in the course of making the Reader fall for him, Ganondorf will slowly grow to become more attached to her, enjoying her company & conversation, to the point where he's actively contemplating not making the wish. At times, he even feels slightly guilty for what he plans to do to her.
And it isn't even as though his plans are a secret. I mean, he never kept it hidden from her & neither did the Gerudo or Yiga under him. So, Reader is very aware what his goals are. And even though he hasn't said that he plans on killing her once her usefulness has ended, it's pretty damn obvious & Reader ain't naive or stupid.
Besides, Ganon's loyal minions often boast about how she'll be made an example of.
Moving on, this can either result in Lima Syndrome (for the good end) or full-on Stockholm (very bad angsty yandere, slightly psychological horror end). Or possibly starting off with Reader's ardent defiance, before going Stockholm, then slowly Lima works itself over on Ganon, but Reader becomes a broken shell of her former vibrancy & spiritedness due to his abuse & obsession. However, Ganon finds that he doesn't like this new, sad & emotionless, obedient version of the Vai & that he misses her lethal bards & fiery witicisms. Part of what initially sparks this dislike for her obedience & submissivness being that he can't get a good fight out of her anymore. She no longer even tries & essentially let's him win.
Same with whenever he has her play strategy games with him & even when he breeds her. She's just become a doll in his hold, one that keeps her eyes shut tight & bares with it until it's over even when he makes her look at him, it's evident that her vigor is gone. Keeping herself silent all throughout. Which, if he's being honest, actually freaking stings his pride as he comes across as the type who takes a lot of pride in being a spectacular lover who can drag the most wanton of sounds from his partner. He'd especially taken joy in hers.
As such, Ganondorf finds himself beginning to try & put her broken pieces back together & through that, he begins to legitimately fall in love. But this might become a double-edged sword as, by beginning to actually care about her, he could become all the more possessive of her & begin to become extremely protective of her, to the point where he might become a different kind of abusive. The more subversive & devious kind. In such a situation, he turns from an unrepentant & sadistic yandere to what is termed a "soft" yandere, meaning he begins to feel guilty for the things he does to her. (Though, that doesn't mean that he stops.)
Either way, he claims her as his property outright.
Or, if we wanna go super-duper angsty, maybe he still decides to go through with his plan, but if the writer goes that direction, I'd kinda like to see Ganon regret it to his dying day. (Not for abusing her, mind, just for killing her. That'd be way too much of a heel-face turn for this specific Ganon.) Like, make it a Pyrrhic victory. Whether because him being in charge eventually leaves him as the king of a barren wasteland or because Reader's memory haunts him. Or possibly both. Like, make him legit mourn for her & feel deeply guilty, but perhaps too proud to acknowledge it or even understand that he does feel guilty. Maybe he goes more than a little cray-cray & sees her everywhere like how Jinx from Arcane sees Mylo & Claggor. Then, when the next Link appears, all he can do is compare the Hero or Heroine to Reader (mentally & verbally) & it really makes him look off his rocker. Hell, maybe he goes looking for the other Triforce pieces again specifically to bring her back to life so he can keep her for himself? Which, let's be honest, would just be salt in the wound.
It'd basically cement how she'd be unable to escape & her only hope was that she'd grow old or sick & die. She may even go insane.
Whatever the writer prefers.
Either way, I'd like to see him take her as his queen at some point. Whether or not it's of her own free will & if it's become a semi-healthy relationship by that point is entirely up to whoever's writing.
I imagine it taking between a decade & several hundred years to get to the end if you go the extra mile.
---
In the case that Ganon goes through with it, the moment he obtains the final piece of the Triforce, he feels a surge of triumph. Of accomplishment & adrenaline.
Ganondorf's time was at hand. There was only one last obstacle between him & his destiny.
And in that moment, he sees the expression on the would-be Heroine's face. Though oddly stoic in the same way her predecessor had been where she normally wasn't.
Even still. He'd known her so long that he could read the minute signs of what she was feeling.
Sad acceptance. Pained defeat. Expectancy. Heartache.
Coming doom…
He'd placed that look upon her face & it caused his heart to clench strangely.
*He loved her… He loved her so much… but that hunger gnashed its teeth for more power from within his mind.*
Irrationally irritated, Ganon turned away from her. “You knew this was coming. It's your own fault for falling for the enemy…” He said dismissively.
“... I know…” The tiny sound of her voice was paradoxically emotionless & broken. It caused an odd stutter in his chest.
With that, Ganondorf makes his wish & the moment after the words left his lips he could feel the power sweep over all around him & with it came elation. Instinctively, he prepared to turn to his little Heroine in a gilded cage to boast to her as he always did when he was successful at something, but then a heavy thud sounded behind him, causing his mind to pause & catch up with him. There was suddenly a strange feeling of loss & absence.
The giant of a man almost couldn't look at her, but when he did, he found her crumpled on the ground & unbearably still as he knew she would be.
And like chips appearing in a column that bears too much weight, fissures began to appear in the normally cold & stalwart structure of his heart. It seemed that her face was frozen in a position of crestfallen resignation in preparation of a foreseen & dreaded, yet inevitable occurrence.
He swallowed thickly, shaking slightly from some heretofore unfelt distress before turning away & leaving her body there in the dark.
In the end, Ganon had one of his Yiga assassins deal with her. But then he'd caught sight of where he was headed with a bundled white sheet.
The furnace…
And an odd, primal panic & fury came over the now king of all.
G: “Did I tell you to burn her?!”
Y: “N-no, my lord.”
G: “Then, what did you think you were doing?!”
Y: “I… my apologies, Sire. I just assumed… She was the Hero destined to kill you, so I was following the procedure for disposing of enemy corpses.”
Dark power exploded around him like fire. A living shadow.
G: “She was MINE!! I WON'T HAVE YOU TREATING HER LIKE FILTH!!! HOW DARE YOU TREAT WHAT WAS MINE WITH SUCH DISRESPECT!?!?”
And he slaughtered the assassin before gently taking the sheet-covered body into his bloodstained arms.
As he lifted her up, the sheet fell off her head & he saw that she was beginning to show signs of degradation.
It was like an icicle shot through his chest as he looked down at his dead concubine. She was so cold now where she'd once been warm & so very alive & vibrant.
And she appeared so much smaller than she'd ever seemed before…
She'd always felt so much larger than life.
It was… disquieting to see her so still & quiet.
Ganondorf trembled silently as he stared at her.
…
He shook himself.
She'd been a means to an end.
Always had been. From the very beginning, thus was what he'd planned to do.
And it'd been worth it.
He was King of Hyrule.
Not just king, but the Emperor of Hyland. Practically a God! The whole continent bowed before him or ran in fear.
It was worth it.
—
Ganondorf began to wash his hand frequently.
He buried her in the garden. In her favorite spot. Where he'd often found her sitting beneath the Satori Tree, just listening to the birds.
He held no funeral, but his heart seemed to mourn all the same.
Ganon almost immediately noticed how different the castle seemed without his little prize.
Had it always been so quiet before her?
And his bed seemed so much bigger & emptier &... colder now…
Had she really become such an enormous part of his life?
He suddenly didn't know what to do with himself without her there. He could always conquer another kingdom but... It was just more of the same...
It was like he'd lost something vital. Something that had become an integral part of his life was now glaringly absent.
He struggled with sleeping. Whenever he closed his eyes, he saw her crumpled form & face in death engraved on the inside of his eyelids.
Holding the pillow she used to use helped somewhat…
Until her scent faded from it. Then he went searching for anything that she'd come into contact with.
All the clothes she'd worn, her scented oils, her jewelry. All of it.
And he placed a spell upon them all to extend the length of time that they'd retain her smell.
Before long, he began using the bathing products that she once used in an effort to keep some semblance of her scent with him.
Even wearing some of her jewelry.
—
Ganon had his minions diligently keep the garden well taken care of. Especially the area around her grave.
At some point, it struck him.
Why was it that he was more miserable after achieving his life-long goal than he was before?
Why could he never be happy??
She was the closest he ever really got.
Slowly, over the coming years, her scent began to fade, though the time it took was supernaturally extended.
And Ganondorf found himself falling into a sort of fog where he refused to think about her.
Yet, at the same time, desperately clung to items that she'd been fond of or that reminded him of her.
To the point of hoarding them in her old room from before he had her relocated to his.
Almost turning it into a sort of very sad, twisted little shrine.
—
Then… her scent faded altogether… That's when it struck the Gerudo square in the chest with the force of a Lynel's kick.
She was gone…
And he'd killed her…
A Gloom fell upon him.
He suddenly couldn't breathe.
Sound began to get fuzzy.
Then he remembered that hers was the soul of the Hero. To whom he was eternally bound as enemies. It was her destiny to find him again to try & take from him his kingdom.
Maybe. Perhaps.
He could see her again?
From that moment on, he anxiously awaited the coming of the next Hero.
Only for when the time came, to find a Hero, not a Heroine.
One so completely unlike his caged bird that Ganon had to push down his disappointment.
Then… for some reason. All he felt was rage.
He didn't even wait for a sporting fight, Ganon just executed the boy & began to wait for the next Hero & hoped for something that he knew deep inside would not happen.
Lifetimes passed with multiple Heroes & Heroines, some like her in some ways, others in other ways, & others not at all. But not a single one had that same spark that Ganon had so admired.
There was always something just… not quite right about them.
And he always made such abundantly clear to the new “Heroes.”
He honestly sounded quite mad in his ramblings.
He became obsessed.
And with every lifetime that passed, the once verdant & green landscape of Hyrule began to wither into a barren wasteland not unlike the desert home he'd come from.
For he'd never stopped his minions from raiding or pillaging. Never stopped them from killing the farmers & other civilians for it was now “a place where only the strong could survive.” So, the people began to leave when they could or else die off. And with no one left to kill besides roaming, warring tribes of jaded vaggabonds & scarred survivors, the monsters moved on to destroying all else around them.
Not to mention how the birth rate had plummeted along with the survival rate for children. Meanwhile, the rate of miscarriages as well as the infant mortality rate had both soared. After all, what is weaker than an infant?
With every subsequent generation, there were fewer & fewer. So, the few who had stayed in Hyrule struggled with even starting a family & many died childless.
Not to mention the fact that constant conflict really isn't the most ideal situation for a society to progress or even civilization in-general. Because anything you build is liable to be destroyed.
It wasn't until 800 years later that Ganon realized; what was the point?
The desert had followed him. This was no longer the Golden Land he once sought so ardently. More so an extension of the no man's land from which he came.
What even was "Hyrule" without it's people or it's lush greenery?
A pile of dirt with a fancy name. Utterly worthless...
Once more, he had ruined something beautiful in his pursuit of power. And his desire for a world where only the strong survived, had been what salted the earth.
—
At some point, Ganondorf snaps.
He wanted her back!
He needed her back!
Why wasn't she coming back???
Didn't she love him?!?!
She gave him her heart! So she must've!
Eventually, the panic began to creep in again.
Once more he couldn't breathe.
The emptiness. The absence. The loneliness. The unbearable guilt & regret.
Everything was so…
He felt both exposed & suffocated.
Darkness seemed to creep around his vision as his fingertips went numb, then slowly moved up his arms, & the same words from before repeated brokenly in his head.
She's gone… She's gone. She's gone. She'sgOnEsHe'sGoneShe'SgonEshE'sgoNe!
She. Is. GONE.
Then the final blow struck.
He would never see her again as she was before he KilLeD her.
It was the first time he could ever remember crying.
No...
He would get her back!
If he got his caged bird back, everything would fix itself.
He… the Triforce!
A deranged grin spread across his face.
He would wish her back!
He just had to find the pieces again!
He could… He could wish her her own soul, one separate from the Hero of Legend!
—
I'm going for a feeling of creeping regret & despair. Where it doesn't immediately hit him how monumental of a mistake he made. Like, not just by killing Reader, but his wish & even his entire ideology.
Then, suddenly, the fact that he'll never, ever see Reader again or hear her voice or hold her in his arms as she had been before death touched her… That even if he manages to wish her back, she'll forever be touched by what he'd done.
And it's too much. Something inside him breaks irreparably.
---
When he wishes her back, I want Ganon to immediately place an unbreakable curse upon their souls. She would be the Heroine & she would always be born alongside the Hero as his sister. Whether twin or elder mattered little. That way, one way or another, Ganondorf would always be able to find her just by locating her brother.
And they would always be drawn together as not even death would keep them apart!
In the end, he eventually comes to really love her. But it's a broken, twisted kind of love.
—
I'm really going for deranged madman here.

this au is based on the idea of reader being their own god/goddess who has an issue with yanderes in the legend of zelda timeline. The au was created from an ask that I got. There isn’t much posted for it now, but I have more in the works.
The ask that started it all (you are close friends and allies to the first hero, but disaster strikes when Hylia takes it upon herself to save you by encasing your body and soul inside of a weapon.)

Responding to Anonymous Reviews
A bit of context: I’m currently writing a Legend of Zelda fanfic where Link is a non Hylian black guy and Zelda is a transgender woman. I knew going in some people wouldn’t like either, but it’s gotten to the point I feel like Link in Tears of the Kingdom, where nobody recognizes him except the bunch that absolutely hates him.
I just posted chapter 4 and I have no comment on AO3, and 4 reviews on fanfiction dot net. Of the four: one (1) is nice, two (2) are hate and one is sort of neutral in a ‘don’t like it so far’ kind of way.
The two hate ones are anonymous, so I thought I’d answer here to get the answers out of my system.
First one: Guest chapter 1 . Nov 12
This is disgusting...
Response:
You posted this in response to the prologue, where all that happens is the characters being introduced and a bit of world building. If you find that disgusting, you're projecting.
Second one : X from Aumsville chapter 1 . 2h ago
And as long as Link refuses to accept he's a male instead of forcing himself to be something he isn't the master sword will forever be cursed knowing Link is messed up in his heart. He is no longer worthy of even breathing in the same space as that sword which knows better.
Response:
(sigh) The fact you didn’t read the story is not surprising, you’re obviously a transphobe. What really elevates this to another level is how you managed to read a very short summary that explicitly states that Link is a person of color and Zelda is transgender, and come out of it thinking this is a story where LINK is transgender. Congrats, not only are you hateful, not only do you devote time to expressing that hate to random strangers, you also can’t read.
More context, and a request:
This story came about because of two things.
One, I found out at some point that white supremacists were trying to use the Triforce as one of their symbols. It got me thinking, and I realized, like many other people, that Nintendo was not doing a great job of representing other races than white coded Hylians in Hyrule. I say this with a lot of love for the franchise, but although things have improved with the two most recent games, both the lack of color and how the other races are treated are notable flaws in the franchise. I wanted to make a story that addressed that with a Hero who was NOT a white Hylian. I made him non Hylian so it would be a significant thing for the in-story characters, I made him black so it would be a significant thing for the readers.
Two, JK Fucking Rowling. I have a loved one who is transgender, which maybe is making me more likely to notice things, but I think unless you’re really not paying attention, it’s pretty obvious that transphobia is on the rise. Several years back, the trend was improving. Things were getting better, people were becoming more accepting, at least in our neck of the woods. Now? Now that a ridiculously famous and rich author has been devoting time, money and energy to making people hate transgender people more and reject their identity? Everyone else who feels the same way feels more empowered to speak out and act out, the feeling is becoming normalized (more so) and things are getting worse again.
I was inspired by a trans female character in Supergirl, who inherits powers that ONLY go to female members of her family, because I loved the idea of the magic, the universe, unequivocally saying that YES, she is a woman. I wanted to do the same for Zelda, so I made her transgender, and she’s a Princess of Destiny.
So, basically, this story came about because I wanted a fix-it fic for Hyrule since I can't fix reality. I’m putting a lot of time and effort in it in the hope that it will eventually catch on and actually circulate enough for people who would get some joy from it to find it.
So far it’s not working.
SO, I have to ask a favor of my followers and mutuals. Please help me spread the word a bit about this story. Getting pretty much only negative feedback is disheartening when you’re trying to do a good thing. Don’t get me wrong. I am personally enjoying writing the story. I like the characters I created, I’m happy with the plot, etc. But unlike some other stories, the idea was never to write this one just for me.
Please reblog this, or when I post a chapter, and help the story get some visibility.

Chimera imagine
I would imagine chimera reader taken the news the hardest about everything but would question him on what dark magic he did but reader's link wouldn't say anything but apologize and likely the chain would step in to clam the Situation, some wants answers, some try ignore this ever happen others comfort.
Time will like have a long *deepish* conversation with reader's link about his actions with warrior too. Reader will take a walk but isn't alone since this isn't their timeline and doesn't want to get lost and upset the chain so likely twilight or hyrule join reader.
Link *chimera: if you have a sibling, you'll understand.
Time: what you did is dangerous and-
Warrior: split your Triforce in half.
Link *chimera: I did what I have to do. They didn't deserve to die....especially like that..I failed as their brother, I failed to protect them.
Warrior: how did you do it? What if it didn't work out the way you Expected?
Link*chimera sign and bring his hand up to his face to wipe his hand down.
Link*chimera: I understand what your trying to say but I know what I was doing. It's not the first I've seen it worked.
Time & warrior: what do you mean by that?
Link *chimera: I've seen the royol family. Perform, that's the same dark magic many times....they even try to bring you all back to live to be used as their puppets but failed.
Reader sign and sit on the grass as hyrule join them and twilight looks around them in case of any threats.
Reader:..what was he thinking?..he broken the law and..oh god..am I a monster ?....am i?-
Hyrule place his hand on reader back to comfort them and look to them
Hyrule: your not a monster reader and I'm sure your brother means well and-
Twilight: we have company.
Twilight yell out as yigas appear from nowhere. The hyrule and reader get up quickly, and Twilight, hyrule pull out their sword as reader summon up their magic to help assist the two with the yigas. The three are unaware of true dangers their in.
Oh poor Reader, they don't know what to do with themselves. :(
Too bad that don't exactly have the time to figure it out before jumping into the thick of it.
