The Saint: To Kill a Saint (5.19, ITC, 1967)
"You're trembling, Le Duc."
"Never!"
"You're as upset as a mother kangaroo who's just had her pouch raided."
"I am not even mildly surprised. There must be over a hundred people in Paris who would like to kill the famous Simon Templar."
#the saint#to kill a saint#1967#leslie charteris#michael winder#robert asher#roger moore#annette andre#peter dyneley#derek bond#francis matthews#robert cawdron#john serret#pamela ann davy#michael bilton#robert gillespie#victor winding#lawrence davidson#valerie leon#maggie wright#nita lorraine#Simon's in Paris and apparently has a hire car; I mention this only bc the Saintmobile has been conspicuous by its absence in most of these#colour eps but also bc this car magically changes colour from white to yellow depending on whether the shots are location or studio work#tbf not so much of an issue considering these eps were being transmitted in black and white in the uk.. this is a pretty solid ep#a twisty mystery about who's trying to frame who and why has someone got it in for Simon (i mean apart from the many obvious reasons)#speaking of which he does threaten to spank poor Annette André but relents once she bursts into tears... yeesh. Cawdron makes his fifth and#final appearance as Le Duc (spelled differently here than in previous eps where it was Leduc or even Luduc) joined for the second time by#Serret as Quercy (although tellingly Cawdron is ahead of him in the credits). yet again Simon is framed using the stick figure motif#also of note is a very risqué gag about Simon found in bed with two women and another in the shower... so risqué in fact the script then#has to go to pains to spell out that no don't worry he didn't have a foursome‚ it was all a trick to fool the cops... sure Simon...

Ok girl dad Gumshoe agenda continuing, ft domestic magshoe
They have two daughters together
Maggie has to remind Gumshoe multiple times to not give the girls his gun to hold
When the kids go on day trips it’s usually Maggie and not the kids who forget the important things at home and they have to go back to get them. Repeat 3 times
Because of Maggies bad luck they have to be sooo careful while she’s pregnant. Gumshoe was sweating bullets the whole 9 months
Gumshoe lets the girls do his hair and makeup but either forgets or feels too bad to undo it so he goes into work with pigtails and badly done lipstick and mascara. When Edgeworth asks about it, Gunshoe just respond like “my girls go me all pretty for going into work, pal😊”
The girls give Maggie and Gumshoe so many drawings and arts and crafts and the two well up every time. Maggie always gives them to Gumshoe to keep so nothing bad happens to them due to her bad luck
Gumshoe is always bragging about his daughters with the guys at the precinct, either it be about proper achievements or something simple or adorable they did
Once Gumshoe becomes a father, Edgeworth subtly raises his paycheck for every small thing Gumshoe does right because obviously kids mean a lot of money and they can’t just live on cup noodles. Phoenix notices and teases him about actually having a soft spot for Gumshoe, which Edgeworth naturally denies
Speaking of, Edgeworth is the girls godfather and when Gumshoe told Edgeworth, Edgeworth got kinda emotional but obviously didn’t admit it and just pretended something was in his eye
The girls adore Edgeworth though because he buys them gifts and has a cute dog
Franziska shows up once a year or so, teaches the girls a trick with a whip, gives them a gift and then leaves. The girls love her though as their weird aunt
Edgeworth also gets the girls into the steel samurai
Anyway, back to Gumshoe and Maggie, Gumshoe fully wakes up early and makes the girls pancakes while wearing a flowery apron
Gumshoe also throws the best birthday parties for his girls and goes above and beyond. Naturally, he also cuts the confetti himself and makes the cake (which is a bit messy but he tries his best)
When the girls are a bit older and get their periods, Gumshoe goes out to buy them what they need and returns like “I didn’t know what kind you wanted so I bought all the kinds pal!” And it’s just anything at the store that was absorbent
Gumshoe definitely has a protective side when it comes to his daughters but he doesn’t let that become controlling. He just doesn’t want them getting hurt

Character Ethnicity Headcanons
Timothy Wright: Part Greek and Italian, is fluent in both languages, has learned ASL to talk with Brian. Tends to only swear when angry or annoyed. So...most of the time.
Brian Thomas: part Columbian, part Italian, small part Mexican, fluent in Spanish, Italian, and ASL. Has been known to switch between languages when angry and gets very colorful with his language.
Jay Merrick: one fourth Vietnamese, and is rusty with the language. He has been heard cursing people out in Vietnamese though. May or may not be taking Duolingo classes.
Alex Kralie: three fourths Russian and he despises when people try to mock the Russian accent. His Russian is also rusty, but he does remember the important words.
Maggie Martini: Italian and part Portuguese, fluent in Italian and Spanish. Knows some ASL (the swear words, definitely the swear words). Not as colorful as Brian but she has said sworn like a sailor.
Tala Foster: Filipino, knows Filipino, Tuwali, English, Spanish, French, German, and ASL. Will not hesitate to curse anyone out in any language. Is extremely colorful all the time. Even more than Brian. Has an accent.
Lyra Rogers: German and fluent. She prefers not to teach people the language just to confuse them, she has a noticeable but not heavy German accent. Sometimes she teaches people to say phrases but doesn’t say the actual meaning to mess with them.
Toby Rogers: German, and he is fluent in German. He teaches swear phrases and that's it. His language is his last secret he wants to keep. Plus, he likes talking to his siblings Lyra and Cody in German without anyone else knowing what they are saying.
Jessica Locke: Caucasian, knows some Hebrew and Latin. Has sworn a couple times but generally doesn't. She tries to keep things calm. But she will not hesitate to swear at the Operator.
Kate Millens: Half Japanese, fluent in Japanese and is selectively mute after being alone for so many years. She and Brian have communicated with ASL. Brian was one of the first to here her speak after she joined the group.
Amy Walters: half French, and she makes it known. She loves speaking French and her accent. She has all the tea on everyone and has a very colorful language when angry or during the time. Alex loves when she speaks French, no matter what she says.
Seth Wilson: Caucasian, knows a little of everyone's language. He taught himself so he could use it on his ToTheArk channel. After all, the Ark needs to know everything he can.
Sarah Reid: Caucasian, she's more fluent in French, Spanish, and Italian and has helped the Ark with her languages. She is kind and will always help people but won't hesitate to throw hands when someone insults her friends and family.

March reads <3
Monster Trilogy by Rina Kent-> 4.25/5
1. Blood of My Monster: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Started: March 8 Finished: March 9
This is the first book I finished after hofas and I'm so glad I finally finished a book lol (except my acotar reread)
2. Lie of My Monster: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Started: March 10 Finished: March 11
3. Heart of My Monster: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Started: March 12 Finished: March 14
This series is not half as bad as I thought!! I never thought I say this tbh... But then again I chose RK's less chaotic series because the things I've heard and occasionally read bits of her other books? Yeah I had every right to not want to pick her books up haha I loved the first two books atmosphere better than the last, maybe it was because of bodyguard romance trope... but I loved the last one nonetheless. Honestly RK is a decent writer I didn't expect that.
4. The Favor by Suzanne Wright -> ⭐⭐⭐.5/5 Started: March 18 Finished: March 21
The writing in this one was... something? I normally don't care about the writing but this one was... bad!! It felt like I'm reading a fanfiction (specially the last 15%) So many unnecessary details were shared that this book could've been so much shorter without them, it really felt like I'm reading wattpad story and it pains me because I actually loved the characters and the plot.
5. Camera Chemistry by Chelsea Curto -> ⭐⭐⭐/5 Started: 23 March Finished: 24 March
70% introvert side of me had so much difficulty reading this lmao. One of my pet peeves in books is public love confession. It took me 30 minutes to read the last chapter and it was the shortest chapter ever... spoiler (not really): and the whole photo shoot scene was also difficult to go through because again... PEOPLE WERE WATCHING. It was mostly smut and well it's a novella so I didn't expected much. I love it all the same tho :)
DNF: The Devil's Vice by Mindy Paige (at 10%)
No❤️ I am yet to find a good staking, dark romance...

elsie wright and frances griffiths and the fox sisters are heroines to me. propping up and photographing paper cut outs of fairies and passing them off as the real thing, reigniting in many adults of the time a sense of wonder not experienced since their childhoods, maintaining decades after the fact and the pictures having been revealed as a hoax that the last picture you took was actually of real fairies. claiming the ghost of a murdered peddler was communicating with you by ‘rappings’ which you in fact created by attaching an apple to a string and pulling the string up and down or by loudly cracking your toe joints, sparking off the spiritualist movement which would peak for the next 80 or so years. girls are so powerful

Man in a Suitcase: Day of Execution (1.3, ITC, 1967)
"I feel awful, just awful, leaving you like this."
"Ah, don't feel bad, it's... it's my business."
"Yeah, I know, but -"
"But what?"
"What're you gonna do?"
"I'm doing it."
#man in a suitcase#day of execution#itc#1967#classic tv#charles crichton#phillip broadley#richard bradford#rosemary nicols#robert urquhart#t. p. mckenna#donald sutherland#jeremy spenser#maggie wright#brian peck#jimmy gardner#sally geeson#brenda lawrence#a personal favourite from childhood watchings and an ep that still stands up very well i think as one of the best MiaS instalments (and has#some very specific mariocki origin lore i won't spoil). has a lot going for it; aside from the strong cast (Sutherland of course but also#Nicols and Urquhart‚ both fresh from starring roles in tv shows Undermind and Jango respectively‚ plus the ever excellent tp mckenna) and a#fairly impressive car chase through nighttime london (good enough the footage was reused in The Saint and Randall and Hopkirk)‚ but we also#get a script that really starts to reckon with McGill's character‚ his past and his personality. a few firsts for the series in this order#inc McGill owning a gun (not carried but kept in his suitcase) renting an apartment and having a love interest; we also learn he went to#college in texas‚ worked in Beirut with US intelligence and has killed (in fact‚ has seen enough violence that he simply doesn't recall the#specific killing that he's being targeted for until it's spelled out for him). it's a darker and brutal episode which hammers home the#moral ambiguity of McGill's character; similarly a moment towards the end of the episode‚ in which he basically threatens to leave Willard#to fend for himself against armed killers unless he pays him a hefty fee‚ is uncharacteristically mercenary for an ITC 'hero'.#Crichton's direction also makes this quite a special episode; he goes heavy on dutch angles and extreme close ups to really push the#ticking clock element and ramp up the pressure‚ with Bradford underplaying the panic just enough to fit the inscrutable McGill image
