Honey Child's 2022. It started with my first published Australian magazine spread with @colournarymag. My first international recipe and writing for @madeinhackney. Then @roamingtrees and I started sharing our immersive storytelling collective, LalinRòka with the World. We met JB and did our first LR private function which led to my SpokesHoney position with @tamarvalleytruffles. I started writing a Children's book series (coming soon 😘). I also had my @abchobart segment on evenings become a regular weekly slot. I took a little trip to visit my bubble bestie @vintagetasmania where she conspired and got me in front of @adamliaw, which led to being asked to his show (airing soon)🤭. Tamas and I made our first @mirodigitalau film. @ponyblackco (and💕 Evie) came to my fashion rescue and bound us Sisterfriends forever. Her faith in my madness and our shared devotion to Goddessness had her reach the stars to aid my TV debut. Which led me to the shiny and awesome world of @emmadeancooks. She exploded my bubble in a pink glittery shower of culinary Sisterhood, ultimate opportunity and possibilities I never dared think were for me. @eatwell_magazine printed my words and shared me with the stratosphere. I began shooting 🍄Truffle vids that showcased Tassie agriculture, eating locally, and how truffles truly are for all of Us. Mrs J flew in so we could have the best Thanksgiving I've had as an Aussie. Hands down.Then I got to show my fondness for Kind David & Queen Varcha by catering his surprise party, where I got to spend time with THE @blackoliveaustralia🖤, a lifelong DMcG bestie. When I think of 2022 I am amazed, humbled, delighted, and agog with it all. The Harvest has kept my cheeks sore from laughter and wet from happy tears. Honey Child has had her sweetest year, yet!!! I'm so excited for the upcoming Harvest.🎑 Please continue praying, believing for me, sending encouragement and supporting my goals and dreams. I’m a mega fan of cold brew, in fact I prefer it to hot @coffee coffee most days. So that means I’m a mega fan of what @sandows are doing. Was really intrigued by the new cold brew sodas (spice and citrus). The spice is a blend of ginger, orange blossom, black spice, mandarin, a touch of cane sugar and Sandows coffee obvs. It drinks like a light spiced cola with a slight coffee note. It’s a good drink on it’s own, and will really come into itself when used as a mixer. . A little late night Shanghai Zoom sesh.... So many things I do are late night. Storyboard ideas. Research. Reasses. Connect. The privilege of International attention professionally and culturally have become an essential blessing for Honey Child. The opportunity to be seen and talk about things that are important to the body of work or to my heart are the best part of this ugly time. It's affirming and validating to talk with someone who has gotten my 'messages in the bottle'. I've been blessed to converse & collaborate with Culinary professionals like the incredible Vegan powerhouse @bettyliciouscooks in Sierra Leone which also led me to the game changing @madeinhackney community who use their resources to reshape food security, education, and inclusive community foodways. @blackfoodfolks honored me with an interview with Historian, Author, Chef, and Culture builder @blackculinary. Ms.Nelson especially has given me anchoring professional sisterhood that has honestly taught me how to reference, source/credit, and be included in conversations about the genius, bona fide brilliance, and resilience of Black American's place in the Diaspora in all ways, but especially with food as the medium. She has also introduced me to other Black female culinary pros that I've come to treasure in friendship and learn from professionally. To articulate the power these exchanges have had on my loneliness, ambitions, and professional standards are incalculable. The knowledge of being seen professionally has kept me trying, dreaming, and encouraged that I am indeed, figuring things out and building a Legacy worthy of the material. Best of all it has kept me positive, open and even more loving. I will never take for granted anyone wanting to converse and build with me. Not utilize, not mindlessly consume.
