I’m away from home without full internet access so I can’t go into a full spiral about this latest buck outfit, but I have thoughts and I have parallels pinging around in my brain like the cards used to do at the end of a game of solitaire on the computer 😂

So here is a very brief meta that I will come back to when I am able! @bewitchedbewilderedbisexual I hope this ties in nicely with my post on buck in navy for you 😎

I’m still super fascinated by the choice of loose fit for Buck, because this outfit is ill fitting as well -the trousers especially, and not in an ‘intentional loose fit’ way - the jeans are too long by about an inch (which is why we see the odd bunch in at the ankle) and they are too loose around the hip and thigh (the section below the waist band). The jacket also doesn’t fit quite right - it’s a little too long in the sleeve and across the shoulder. It’s all very reminiscent of the fit we saw on buck in season 1 and that is super interesting to me considering the number of parallels we have been seeing between Abby and Tommy. This idea that Buck is searching for something - a way to fit in his own skin - something Buck was closest to doing in 2b-the end of s3 - when his clothes fit him the best. We saw the shrinking come into play in s4 and continue through s5 and 6 and then we saw a brief period of well fitting clothes post 7x04 - when he has realised he’s bi - only for them to start to fit poorly again from 7x05 onwards - suggesting that Buck is once more not fully comfortable in his skin and that we’re getting a parallel of his journey through s1 rather than s5/6.

We have buck in a white tee - and we all know what that means - danger ahead for Buck!

We also have the new white trainers - so the scenes this outfit is for will be about Buck and his journey - his new journey as he has new trainers (the old ones were connected to his bi journey - now he’s figured that out, we’re onto the next journey!)

Then we have a navy blue jacket - Buck tends to wear navy in connection with his relationships, most notibly his romantic relationships, but by no means exclusively (he wears navy shorts in connection with key moments in his relationship with Eddie - the fox house dinner in 5x11 and when Chris leaves in 7x10 most notably). All the moments he’s wearing navy blue connect into the breakdown of those relationships - we saw him wearing it a lot with Taylor, especially in scenes where their relationship was in not great places - when nails were being added to the coffin as it were- but we also see him wear navy when his relationship with Eddie falters, and with his parents,even his relationship with Bobby is connected to navy blue (law suit anyone!)

Then there are the khaki trousers - we just don’t see Buck in khaki very often - it’s just not a colour he wears - especially not in trouser form - he is nearly always in black, navy or grey trousers. So this is significant - he wore khaki trousers twice in season 1 - both scenes very much connected with Abby and Buck and Abby’s relationship. The first is imo the most significant - in 1x05 - when he helps Abby look for her mom - the first time they meet in person and Buck essentially commits to trying to date her - to pursuing a ‘grown up’ longer term relationship. That a parental issue is central to this is and the outfit most closely resembles this new one is what I’m most fascinated by. It connects the concept of this new outfit having something related to a parental issue and the fact Buck has th website trainers on means it’s a parental relationship of his not someone else’s that’s the centre of it - the scenes will be about Buck not someone else.

The second scene in s1 is from episode 7 - it’s when Buck and Abby have sex for the first time, but he wears a black tee rather than a white one and this ties it in with the next time we see him in khaki trousers in 2x06 - when he, Chim and Eddie are helping Maddie move into her new appartment - the ‘he’s cute’ ‘you should meet his kid’ scene.

The scene from 2x06 is interesting because it lays the foundation work for Chim and Maddie’s future relationship, at the same time as paralleling Chim and Eddie and Maddie and Buck. Maddie is still technically in a relationship at this point as she is still married to Doug, yet the foundation stones of madney are being laid. In the same vein - Buck is still technically in a relationship with Abby (well he believes he is!) and we see further foundation stones being laid for Buck and Eddie’s relationship. That the show is fairly loudly doing this in parallel is telling!

The only other time we’ve seen buck not wearing blue black or grey trousers is in his coma dream when we had the tan corduroy trousers. And while I think we might have a slight connection there - in that they play into the idea of some kind of internal struggle for buck - I don’t think it’s necessarily relevant here!

I know that the parallel with this outfit of Eddie’s hs already been floated

And it’s totally relevant in my opinion. Eddie setting off for Texas and setting up dealing with/confronting his daddy issues - whilst Eddie has no intention of addressing his issues in Texas he does end up dealing with at least a portion of them - specifically the ones around his dad. We see the outcome of that in season 6 when we are shown the improving relationship between them.

This feels especially relevant after the date night daddy issues scene between Buck and Tommy last season - one that very much felt like a set up for season 8 and buck addressing his parental relationships - something I think may well have been explored in season 7 if Annalise had been available for season 7 - as we would very likely have had Eddie with his queer arc and buck exploring his issues around abandonment and death (more in this in a minute).

There are actually two other Buck costumes which I think are far far more relevant when it comes to the meaning of this new outfit - this one from a flashback in Buck Begins

Both are white tee/hoodie with a navy jacket! The first is essentially Buck ‘breaking up’ with his parents and the second essentially marks the end of his relationship with Taylor (even if it’s a very long and drawn out end!) - the moment that his unhappiness (even if he’s burying it and not actually able to recognise that he’s unhappy in it) with the reltionship becomes truly apparent to us the audience. (The fact that LAFD bomber along with a hoodie is also worn in the scene when he goes to see Tommy is also key - it parallels the two scenes - placing Tommy in a sort of parallel with Lucy - as a disruptor of the status quo (in not even going to get into the fact that Eddie is key in both of these scenes - that while Lucy is a disruptor of BuckTaylor, she is much more a disruptor of Buck and Eddie!))

Both of these play into an overarching theme with Buck - especially in light of this outfit we’ve also seen for this season

Because this one also matches with an outfit from Buck begins - the one where he is planning to leave with Maddie but she hides and he ends up leaving without her. (I don’t have access to my stills from that episode at the moment but I’ll add it in later on when I do!) the greyish khaki parallelspeaks of Bucks issues around abandonment - the feeling of being abandoned by both his parents and Maddie (remember this is Bucks feelings in that moment - he is a flawed narrator and didn’t have all the facts- it is not the reality that Maddie abandoned him - she was protecting him and herself so we are not hiding her in any way) and him setting out on his adventure that ends up in L.A. and at the 118.

So this new outfit is very likely going to play into that concept - and the two new outfits taken together suggests to me that we are very likely going to see that aspect of Bucks journey explored this season - it’s an aspect of his character that lead to him clinging to first Abby and then Taylor - it’s no mistake that Taylor’s return to the show comes so soon after we see Buck begins - Bucks abandonment issues have been brought back into the spotlight and are raw when she reappears and becomes his girlfriend.

So I’m expecting to be seeing Buck doing a fair chunk of figuring himself out and dealing with his issues around abandonment in this season and in whatever both of these scenes end up looking like/ being about. This will very likely tie into his romantic relationship as much as his parental/familial ones and while I don’t think either outfit marks a BuckTommy break up, I very much expect them to play into that relationship failing - like the ones we saw leading to the ultimate destruction and end of Bucks relationship with Taylor (the dinner at the diaz house scene and then the Buck Lucy kiss scene) specifically.

I’m excited to see how this all plays out!

I’ve been watching these NextUp streams from Edinburgh this month, had been meaning to make a post about what I thought of some of them, but have decided this one deserves its own post. I’ve been trying to expand my comedy horizons a bit lately, try out some styles of comedy that I might not really be into normally. Partly because I’ve tried that a few times before and it’s turned out great (I don’t know what the hell “absurdist theatre” is so I expected to not understand one moment of John-Luke Roberts, but then I watched it anyway, and now his show A World Just Like Our Own is one of my favourite comedy hours I’ve ever seen), so I want to see what else I’m missing out on that I’d really enjoy.

The other reason why I sort of feel like I should try this is just because I sort of like the idea of being like the cool cultured comedy fans who can appreciate shit like that. I wasn’t a theatre kid. I don’t understand the theatre kids. I saw the theatre kids in school. I see the theatre kids as adults. I’m glad they’re having a good time. I really am, I’m glad all that artsy experimental theatre shit exists and I’m glad there are people who enjoy it. I just wish I could back up my theoretical beliefs about The Importance of Art by personally enjoying it myself.

Today, I decided to watch Siblings and Family Friends, which was the title of a show by the comedy group called Siblings. I watched it because it was described on the Fringe Festival website as:

“Variety, cabaret: Prepare yourselves for a wild and wonderful variety night hosted by character comedians and IRL sisters Maddy and Marina Bye, of critically acclaimed Siblings, starring their family friends (who also happen to be the best comedians at the Fringe). Expect stand-up, clowning, sketch-comedy, drag, dance and more in these three exclusive nights.”

That is a lot of words that can appear in a description of a comedy show and make me recoil a little, and then move right along past it. Clowning. Drag. Dance. Variety. Cabaret. I figured, if I watch this show, I can get all my horizons broadened at once! A little sample of all the things I’m not sure about, in one show, so I don’t have to see any other shows with that stuff.

Thoughts about it are below the link, just because this gets rather long.

…It opened with an ironic interpretive dance about birth and childhood, but it was a bit difficult for me to tell just how ironic it was, the whole thing was confusing. But “an ironic interpretive dance about birth and childhood” sounds like exactly the sort of comedy I want to be able to appreciate, so I tried to do just that, just stare at it non-judgmentally until I get the joke. I’m pretty sure it was a joke. But I didn’t really end up getting it.

Then they said some other stuff, in character, where the joke was that their family is a secret cult but they’re pretending to not be a cult so they can recruit the audience, and at least that makes sense to me. It’s not the funniest joke I’ve ever heard, but it’s all right, I can see how if you were in the room where that happened and you got on board with it that would be a fun thing, so I tried to get on board.

Then a woman came out and did some things with a hula hoop that would make James Acaster wild with envy, while music played in the background. While this happened, she took off her clothes. Which I believe categorizes that performance as “burlesque”, which is another word that can appear in the description of a comedy show and will make me immediately decide it’s not for me. Not of any prudish instinct, I don’t think. Just because I want to hear someone say funny and/or emotionally moving things into a microphone and this is one of the many types of comedy that isn’t that.

So I actually watched the burlesque show, to see what all the fuss is about. And it was extremely impressive. I’m very very impressed that that person can do all that stuff with her body and with the hula hoops. I don’t… I don’t quite know how to say this without sounding horribly prudish, but I’m genuinely not sure why she took her clothes off. Not, like… “People should keep clothes on because bodies are bad!” I don’t think that. I just don’t really understand what the removal of clothes added to the show.  But maybe that’s exactly what it added. I guess that’s sort of the point of the whole thing, making the performance a rebellion against all the people who say that everyone should keep clothes on because bodies are bad? Either way, I didn’t really get the nudity part of it. But it was fun to watch the hula hoop move in time with music. And it was an incredibly impressive athletic feat.

The Siblings came back, and did a weird sketch, where I did get the joke but didn’t find it all that funny (it was a parody of meditation things, very visual, and I often don’t find comedy as funny if it significantly relies on visual cues).

Then Tom Ballard came out, and it was like… you know when you’re at a party where you don’t know anyone, and you get this rush of relief when you see a familiar face? That’s what it was like to watch this show and try really really hard to appreciate the comedy styles that I do not understand, and then Tom Ballard walks on stage. And yes, I realize it is not ideal that I could watch several women do really interesting alternative entertainment things and it left me impressed but also cold and confused, and then a white guy walks out and I say “Oh thank God he’s here, this is something I understand.” In my defense, I also great enjoy plenty of women who just stand there with a microphone telling jokes in the conventional way.

I’ve heard Tom Ballard tell this joke twice before in recent performances – he announces that he had gay sex with a witch, and then asks if there are any witches in. Both times I’ve heard it before, no one in the audience answers, so he says of course they’re staying quiet, the witches know not to identify themselves or they’ll get burned. He did that joke again during the Siblings set, but this time, when he asked if there are any witches in, quite a few people cheered. He had to change his response, saying that the people who cheered must be lying, because if they were real witches, they’d have stayed quiet to avoid being burned. That seems about right. That Tom Ballard does that joke to a regular stand-up audience and get the silence that he needs to set up his response; he tries it at this show and several witches are, in fact, in.

He did an extract from his full This Is I set, using the parts I’d expect. He did the bits of that show that are about sex. He left out the bits that are about politics and the death of his grandmother. That seems like a good choice for this show.

Then Siblings came back, this time in different costumes, playing different characters. They did a sketch about, I think, annoying teenage boys starting a business. I’m not quite sure what was going on in it, but it did not help that these characters had quite mumbly voices so I couldn’t understand half the words they said. I didn’t find it hugely funny, but I sort of got… maybe 50% of the joke? They waved the microphones around a lot. They made a man in the crowd get up and the lights flashed.

Then a guy came out and juggled what appeared to be bowling pins while music played. I was, again, very impressed with the athletic feat. Though it was less athletically impressive than the hula hoop woman, so if the entertainment is just supposed to come from us watching someone do something physically difficult and saying “Wow look at that,” it was somewhat diminished by having to follow her. I guess that shouldn’t be hard to understand – watching sports is an extremely popular passtime, so clearly, people do enjoy watching someone perform a physically difficult feat just to be impressed by their skill. Although, at least in my experience, a big part of what’s fun about watching sports is the competitive element. Maybe that’s what’s missing here. Those are my notes as a non-theatre kid trying to understand alternative entertainment – I think they should make variety shows competitive.

Then out came Egg, a sketch duo I’d vaguely heard of but had never seen before. They were, actually, really funny. Didn’t require any effort on my part to enjoy that. I would enjoy seeing more of them. They did two sketches, one about an annoying conservative aunt and one about awkward crowd work, both of which were good.

Then Siblings came back and sang a song about soccer dads, which was kind of funny. I enjoyed the song. Enjoyed it slightly less when they started slipping in and out of character afterward, and I went back to not being able to tell what they were doing.

Then there was a guy named Bill O’Neill, from a sketch duo called the Banana Brothers. A significant part of the joke in this part seemed to be that the other guy in the sketch duo wasn’t there. He messed around with banana peels and threw himself on the floor a few times, and I kept waiting for the twist or punchline or other way where we find out what funny thing that was setting up, until I realized that the sight of him doing that was meant to be the funny part. Then he did a sort of… parody of miming, I think? Or possibly just actual miming. A fair bit of the difficulty I had with this show came from not being able to tell how much irony there was in most of it. He threw some bananas on himself and writhed all over the stage for a while.

Then Siblings came back and did what was definitely a parody, they said so at the beginning, where the joke is that they have no circus skills but would pretend to do a circus act anyway. Once again, it helped that I finally got the joke, found it a bit funny, but so much of the humour came from visual stuff that just isn’t that funny to me so I ended up skipping bits of it.

And then: oh thank God, another familiar gay white man whose tour show from this year I’ve already heard so I know exactly what he’s like these days so nothing will be a surprise! Out comes Paul Foot (I’ve been weirdly writing this post in the past tense as though I’d seen it all and then sat down to write this, don’t know why I’ve been doing that because actually I’m watching it now and stopping to write stuff down as it goes along), and I know that guy! I mean, Paul Foot is not exactly known for being a non-confusing comedian. But it was quite a while ago now that I put in the small amount of work required to figure out what Paul Foot is doing, so now I already get it and can enjoy it.

He opened with a weird bit where he pretends to be a marmoset, but he was explaining it rather than acting it out, got in the audience’s face, it was fucking funny. Then he did his rhino horn joke from his previous tour show, which I find very funny. The line “They are, though” has gotten a laugh out loud from me every time I’ve heard it, which is now quite a few times. Then he did a bunch more from that show, including some briefcase disturbances.

He actually got quite a muted response from the crowd, which I thought was much less than he deserved; he’s very funny in general but was also very funny in this specific set. The crowd failing to recognize that immediately makes it more difficult for me to agree with this crowd about anything else.

Last up is Rueben Kaye, a guy I’ve vaguely heard of and know is a drag queen but I’d never seen him before. He was funnier than I’d expected, actually. I liked that he did actual stand-up, rather than the drag itself being the entertaining part. He had some quite funny jokes about his family. And at the end he sang a really dramatic rendition of Colin Hay’s Down Under song, which was a lot of fun.

I’ve realized that this stuff isn’t particularly different from those old Late ‘n’ Live videos that I enjoy so much, making it silly that I consider this “not my thing”. But I think what makes those so funny is the irony. The fact that it’s all people who normally get on stage and tell jokes, but instead, for this night, they’re wrestling in bubble wrap and doing rap battles and singing Eminem pulling apart cows and shit. It’s funny because it’s unusual and because they’re doing all of it with an ironic sense that this is a weird thing they’re doing and they’re kind of making fun of themselves. And not that people in this Siblings show weren’t making fun of themselves. It’s more than I just don’t know what they normally do so I didn’t get the joke so much. I couldn’t tell what was a parody and what was just entertainment. I guess that’s part of why I’m an obsessive completist about everything I like and will seek out as much context as I can for everything – I tend to enjoy stuff more once I’ve seen enough of it to really “get” what it is. And I haven’t, really, with this.

Anyway, I'm glad I watched that. I enjoyed... some of it. I enjoyed a bunch of it, actually. Some of it is not going to be for me. I think I like sketch comedy if there's a lot of talking in it and not so much if most of the humour is visual. I think that sentence still works if you take out the word "sketch", actually. This was an interesting experiment but I think I'm now going to find the most conventional straight stand-up show I possibly can, and watch that to balance it out. No character work. Preferably not even any crowd work. No interactivity of any kind. No sketch. No second person on stage. Not even a song. Just one human being spending one hour saying words that are 80% humour/20% personal trauma, as God intended comedy to be.

Cycle of old yous

I woke up today and realized I like keeping a loop in my brain about the old me-s. The old mes who did a bunch of stuff, from anger and from pride and from the idea that the actions will earn them love and respect. I think its hard to let go your old roads, the roads that gave you sadness and happiness and a better insight about yourself. I remember one of my old mes tried to earn himself respect and recognition. Every day he put effort into a project so then other might say things like: -Very well -you are really good -If you keep going like that these and these things can happen. So I tried but nothing happend and every day I felt further away. So I gave up and when nobody tries to stop you, you know your faith isn’t meant to be on that road. I still see them on stories and I see that the place where I was (yeah its a real place just to make sure Im not talking about my mind or some place on the edge of this head) is getting filled with new faces. I was one of the people who first went there and now they dont even remember me (I guess). So today while I was doing my unhealthy morning scroll through (yeah I should stop doing that) I saw some photos about them. I feel like even tho I had the chance to go back, I did the good thing to not go back. I am trying to be me, without shame. I wanna do things for me. I wanna look good for me. I wanna do things without the feeling Im not enough. 

I ordered some new clothes from a website so I can go to these parties we call  Techno in Europe. The people in these parties look scary and violent, but just like you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, you never know who they really are. They compliment you clothes and hug you, they support you and never make you do anything you don’t want to. I only went 1-2 times but it was fun and I hope that If as a depressed person I enjoyed it, as a much more good feeling person I will really really let go and feel the freedom. (ofc without alcohol, meds duh). So they wear chokers and fetish wear and dance to monotom music, but they supported me more than my own best friend. Looking back at the old me, I judged them not because I didnt like them but because I wanted to feel that kind of wild friendship. They know each other deeply and pose on pictures and loo out for each other and I want that. So maybe this year, the path Im gonna go will be a path where I become more like something I despised a year ago. I will wear fetish wear and a choker with a heart on it and walk around like Maddy in Euphoria in my black top and feel the old me slip away in the lake as Im walking into the wild.

OG 911 Character Details from Canon Pt 2

Hi y’all I’m back! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reblogged the last details post - I sort of just thought people would like it and it would die, so to see it travel and hopefully reach more writers was so great so thank you again!

Details under the cut since I went a little crazy 😅 and if this is your first time seeing this, the first part, and any future parts, can be found under this tag here!

Quick note before I get to the details - always, ALWAYS take details from dialogue or plot over details from the set or props if they contradict each other. The writers have the ultimate say over what happens on the show/for the characters, so whatever they say goes, even if it goes against something props has already laid down (eg, Chim’s birthday, sorry Libra crew. He’s an Aries or a Pisces). So keep that in mind for the future in case some of these details I have which are from props/set are changed in the future, or if you’ve noticed something yourself!

Eddie doesn’t hang Christopher’s art on the fridge - instead it is either hung on the corkboard in Chris’ room to the left of the door, or Eddie puts it in an actual frame and hangs it using a hammer/nails in Christopher’s room. All the Diaz family has on their fridge is a bunch of bendy people magnets. Athena was in a sorority in college, Delta Sigma Theta. Their website describes them as “ ...a sisterhood comprised primarily of Black, college-educated women ... [that] considers the issues impacting the Black community and boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans ”, which I love for Athena, and feel is very in-character for her at that time in her life!

Chim is an aviators dude. When he wears sunglasses, they’re always aviators.

Athena also wears nothing but aviators.

Bobby wears square aviators.

Eddie, on the other hand, always wears Wayfarers.

Buck either doesn’t really like sunglasses or he constantly forgets he owns them, since we’ve only seen him wear them once in 60 eps, in a move I’m pretty sure was ONLY for dramatic effect.

Hen’s sunglasses change style over the seasons like her regular glasses do, but she tends to like browline sunglasses.

There are two colors of dispatch polo, and there doesn’t seem to be any rhythm or reason for who wears what. Maroon - Maddie and Linda. Blue - Josh and May. Jamal has actually worn both maroon and blue, so it doesn’t seem to be TOTALLY set in stone although I’ve never seen anyone else switch. Sue is too badass to wear a dispatch shirt.

Both Bobby and Eddie drive 4 door pickups. Bobby’s is navy. Eddie specifically has a black, 2020 GMC Denali 1500 pickup truck (in case you want to specifically look up what the inside of it looks like or what features it has 😂)

Correction to Eddie’s living situation from last post: no next door neighbors, but instead UPSTAIRS neighbors. (Pointed out by Abigail in this ask). Also since someone else was wondering the notes of the last post - no, there is absolutely no discussion on the show of whether or not Eddie rents the apartment or owns it. But based on the fact that it’s 1) LA and 2) an apartment, my guess would be he rents it.

When Maddie isn’t feeling like herself, she tends to straighten her hair rather than curl it. It seems to be more when she’s uncertain about her place in her own and other people’s lives, rather than just when she’s simply worried - eg it’s straight in 2B, when she’s uncertain if she wants to continue working as a dispatcher/is unsure about her relationship with Chim.

For work, Chim, Eddie and Buck all use black duffel bags with a LAFD patch on the top. Hen uses several different cute bags, and Bobby seems to have a plain black duffel bag.

Watches - Bobby, Athena, Chim, Hen and Buck all wear their watch on their left wrist (but Athena ONLY wears hers for work, she takes it off at home.) Eddie wears his on his right wrist, and Maddie doesn’t wear one.

Chim (and Maddie by default) literally still have the exact same couch as in the pilot. (Which means that Chim has cuddled Tatiana on that couch, AND Albert has had sex on it. TIME TO GET A NEW ONE, BUCKLEY-HANS 😂)

The 118 has five different rigs - the engine (E118), the ladder truck (T118), two ambulances and the captain’s truck. 95% of the time, when the team is chilling in the cab of a rig and chatting (eg the ‘stuck under a live telephone pole’ scene in Jinx), they’re in the engine, not the truck. (Which I personally learned recently are NOT interchangeable terms!)

Athena and Michael got married when Athena was 37.

If you’d like to give Maddie a full name beyond “Maddie”, you should use Madeline. (I know, I know, in 4x04 she says Maddie is the name on her birth certificate, and that you should never use props details if they contradict script details, but I always thought that was a super weird exchange in 4x04 which could be explained by Maddie getting a nickname since she was born when Margaret and Phillip, you know, actually loved their kids and showed it, so of course Buck doesn’t get one, and in 4x04, Maddie was trying to avoid the entire issue of why she got one and Buck didn’t. But! Do what you want, and use Madeline as the full version of Maddie if you’d like, since that’s what’s on the BOLO in 2x13 😂)

Athena’s call sign is 727 L30, but she doesn’t have a specific squad car - the number changes throughout the series.

Chim really likes chewing gum, but he’s the only one out of the entire family!

The station has an Xbox One S, and it’s white.

In the real LAFD, there are stations 1 through 114. To avoid confusion while filming on the streets (I’m assuming), our fictional LAFD never uses the number of a real station. So if you want another station for a fic, and you want something that would be real in OUR universe, use the numbers 115 and above. They’ve gone as high as 221 in our universe.

Battalions - station 118 is in Battalion 7, which is also not a battalion in real Los Angeles. The 118 has interacted w/ Battalion 1, which is a real battalion, but other ‘non-real which makes them more likely for our universe’ battalions include numbers: 3, 8, 13, 16, 19 and above.

S1 Buck knew the term Jedi, but based on context, didn’t understand AT ALL the context provided by Star Wars, so there’s another edge of his pop culture limits for you.

Buck lives on the fourth floor of his apartment building, across the hall from Apt. 416. The lovely @lovelessmotel found this listing for what is more or less the apartment. What happened was: the set crew rented this apartment for the one episode at the end of s2 when Buck moved in, and then over the summer before s3 built their own set of it, and changed some things - eg giving him an island, and moving the sink to a second counter against the far wall, you can see the changes here in this amazing gif set by the awesome Austen, but the listing should let you click around a little more upstairs and figure out dimensions better than what the show provides!

When Athena and Hen go out to eat together, it’s always fast food burgers and fries.

Waffles are Athena’s favorite food, and tiramisu is her favorite dessert.

The COVID timeline in OG’s universe is fucked up compared to the real world’s, so it shouldn’t be used as a way to measure time! They just throw it in wherever it makes sense for the story they want to tell (eg the vaccines in s4 ep 8), since s3 was both done before COVID hit but also airing while it was happening. It makes absolutely no sense for May to graduate in March nor for Chris to be going to what is specifically labeled summer camp, and the vaccine plotline was INCREDIBLY early, even for real life, so don’t use anything from that as a measure of time. I’ve found except in specific examples, eg the two tsunami episodes, it’s very safe to say every episode covers a week - fall holidays on the show line up with their real life counterparts, indicating about the same amount of time is passing for us and them.

On that note - Jee-Yun was born in late January, early February 2021. (Conceived in Pinned, which was end of March/beginning of April, meaning Maddie was around a month along at May’s graduation in May ➡ 42 weeks + 3 days from then = late Jan/early Feb. Which unfortunately means we most likely won’t see her birthday celebrated on screen. If we assume she was conceived on the date Pinned aired, aka the very sexy hotel scene, then January 21st or 22nd would be Jee’s birthday, depending on if she was born after midnight or not.

Buck has had at least one other Jeep between the one Maddie gave him, and the one he has now, which means that when he needs a new car, he is purposefully choosing Jeeps.

They might just be stuck within this.. So it makes it seem like larger than it is

Austin: I don't wanna say that, but there are certain things that are bad that perhaps are exacerbated by the

Tubbo: Well, it's not even the trending tab. The trending tab is not really it. It's like people who pick arguments and get that reaction they want then, like, makes these two sides. I watched this really clever video that I was shown by someone, I can't remember who. It was by this YouTube channel called "[maybe 'Graze' or 'Grays'?]" and it was explaining Twitter about how- If there's two people with opposing views and they're arguing, then they're going to have the people who have come to defend them and the people who attack us. Normally very 50/50. But then, the people who are defending and attacking, instead of going for each other which is how arguments tend to fizzle out, when everyone's exhausted and can't give a shit anymore, they then go to attack people who are defending the same thing, which sparks arguments inside these two halves. And then, it's a domino effect, it's exponential. It keeps going and going. So then, it, like, splits into 4 and then into 8 and then 16, like, different arguments of people kicking the shit out of each other online

I'm absolutely obsessed with the concept of "buck fell first, Eddie fell harder" and I was wondering what was your opinion about it. And if you agree, when do you think buck fell and how about Eddie. When he fell in love with buck.

That might be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me! I'm just over here doing my thing and it still baffles me that people want to read my ramblings! I do worry that my honesty can come of as a bit blunt but sugar coating things isn't my style 😬

my opinion on Buck fell first Eddie fell harder - I tend to agree - sometimes I flip flop a bit on it and its difficult to quantify why, but I always seem to come back to this opinion

The way I see it is that Buck saw Eddie and fell into Lust - only he doesn't know that thats what it is - he thinks that lust is actually envy and so he behaves like a brat. I also Buck has a competency kink but he doesn't really realise or know what to do with it and it manifests as jealousy. Then Eddie praises him and well we've known about Bucks need to be praised since the pilot episode. I think there may be a little bit of sexual attraction mixed in with it too, but I don't think thats necessarily new for Buck so he doesn't think anything of it (I maintain that Buck was attempting to flirt with the guy at the bar in Peru and stopped when the guy started checking out the girl!) and he has to work with the guy and after being fired for sex on the job - a job he really cares about, loves and that makes him feel like he's finally found his place in the world - he's not going to risk that for anything.

The thing is though Buck doesn't really know or understand his feelings and what his different feelings actually are. I've always read him as someone who's had temporary friendships and we know he hadn't had a long term relationship before Abby and h'e never had a stable loving family/ home life beyond what Maddie could give him and she was a child herself so even that, by its very nature was limited and naïve (and that is nothing against Maddie - she is incredible and did an amazing job - one that wasn't hers to do and one that essentially robbed her of her childhood). 

Basically what I'm trying to say is that Buck takes all these feelings he has and thinks that they must be what friendship is supposed to be - he has no prior experience to draw from - he's essentially been in transition his entire life and this is the longest he's stayed in one place, one job and with one set of people. Even his relationship with Abby is warped and has skewed his perspective on the differences between the types of love - romantic, sexual attraction, platonic/friendship and 'parental' because Abby existed in all of those categories. This means though that  Buck doesn't have a good template for any type of relationship at the point when he meets Eddie - they're all mixed up and confused and he is still clinging to the idea of Abby as romantic love and Eddie has Shannon so therefore anything he's feeling for Eddie is just platonic best bro's right?!! 

I don't think Buck starts to grasp that his and Eddies relationship is vastly different from a normal friendship and in fact is very much soulmate shaped until season 4 and even then I don't think he's actually comprehending that its real true deep abiding love - I think that he thinks they just have a deep friendship and Buck will never do anything to jeopardise that because for him the lawsuit and Eddie getting into fighting is still very much fresh in his memory. Then Ana comes along and Buck puts himself back out into the dating pool because and once again confuses sexual attraction with romantic attraction and builds this thing with Taylor that he’s finding is unsatisfying but Buck being the person he is -  he’s never had to do the leaving before and doesn’t want to hurt anyone the way he’s been hurt.

Buck wants a family - its what he's been searching for in all the wrong places and then stumbled into building one with his best friend and because Buck has no point of reference, he’s been incredibly slow on the uptake of what he’s built. I actually don’t think we’ve hit full Buck realisation yet and I don’t think we’ll get it until after he breaks up with Taylor - because he’s still clinging and so my feeling is that, in the lead up to the break up we’ll see Buck realising what it is he wants in a partner and relationship and that Taylor isn’t it, I don’t think it will begin to dawn on him that those things he wants are things he already has because thinking ‘I want someone like Eddie’ is no the same as thinking ‘I want Eddie.’ So I think it’s only when he clears out the emotional baggage that comes from him always being left and then having to do the leaving - that will be the moment that he truly realises that what he wanted in abstract form is what he already has, he just needs to take the next step in because its building on what he already helped build.

Then we have Eddie. Eddie who is so repressed that he’s been literally turning himself inside out trying to deny what he knows. When he first meets Buck, he’s still very much hung up on Shannon and having a wife and somehow trying to get back the thing that made him ‘fit’ into societies expectations - because he can’t be gay if he has a wife - right! Everything with Shannon is so complicated and he is confused and also still dealing with his army trauma (or rather he’s busy dealing with not dealing with his army related trauma) and because Buck is still hung up on Abby - it is very easy for Eddie to just add anything he’s feeling to the repression pile. But then Shannon dies and the Tsunami happens and Eddie is overwhelmed so that love spills out a little bit - ‘there’s no one I trust more with my son’  but its okay because its in relation to Chris so he can play it off as that, but he needs to make sure he gets a better grip on it all and thus we end up in fight club land - because he let a tiny bit of his love for Buck escape and that’s not okay because Shannon just died so he’s confused and then Buck decides a lawsuit is a good idea and Eddie can’t talk to him - this person he has come to trust and Eddie is not in control so we see the physical manifestation of the internal demons he’s fighting. 

Once Eddie has a better grip on all the guilt etc he’s feeling over Shannon, he’s in a better position to keep a handle on his feelings in general. Of course he doesn’t have total control on them - we still get the heart eyes etc. And of course there is the will of it all - Eddie can allow himself this one luxury because he can play it off as not about him - its about Christopher and also its something he can keep secret - its something he can do that he never has to tell another person - including the person he’s done it for and about. 

Eddie Changing his will is both Eddie battening down the hatches and also Eddie giving his love wings - only the love install confined to a cage - he thinks that by giving it a defined space in which to exist he won’t have to take it any further. I personally think Buck begins was a bit of a  uhh moment for Eddie - because he wanted to step in and come to Bucks aid - it was a moment when the truth could’ve come spilling out and Eddie repression cannot have that - so the very next episode - we get the Ana of it all - Eddie jumps into something that will allow him to keep repressing in a more publicly visual way - because he can’t be accused of being in love with his best friend by anyone (especially his family) if he has a girlfriend - so Ana becomes a new front for him to hide behind, and it works for a bit, but then he gets shot and Buck does exactly what Eddie would’ve wanted - he takes care of Chris but he also opens himself up - shows Eddie that Eddie needs to do something to reassure Buck of what he has, that he is loved, even if he can’t say it out loud. So he reveals the will - the biggest love confession he can give without it being a love confession and without risking very much.

There is a part of me that thinks that if Buck hadn’t started up with Taylor, then the thing with Ana would’ve probably ended much sooner than it did, because I think that Eddie might’ve actually been in a place to start talking about things a bit more openly as a result of the shooting, but then Taylor was there so Eddie shut up shop again and added the shooting to that small storage locker of trauma he has. Doing that though wasn’t a good idea - because he is now bursting at the seams and things have got to give so the panic attacks start - Eddie being Eddie - repressing everything probably thinks to himself - after Bucks advice - well if I get rid of this one thing that is taking up a lot of my energy - Ana and the pretending it requires - then I can get everything else under control. Only he can’t because Ana was the top of a slippery slope and Eddie was gathering speed. I’m mixing metaphors, but once those locker doors were opened to let out the Ana of it all, it gave room for everything else to surge forward - flooding out one after the other - until the thing at the back  that first trauma is able to escape - and that is more or less where we are now and Why Eddie has to go back to Texas. Of course Eddies love for Buck is not a trauma, it is the spark of hope that is currently giving him the ability to tentatively make his way through the trauma that is filling his world with dark - its a spark that is growing stronger and stronger and it is what he is coming to realise will give him the strength to deal with things and start over. He is accepting what he already knew -that he loves buck but now he is realising just how deep his love for Buck actually goes, and actually that that love is so strong that he’s no longer prepared to live the half life he’s been living. 

So yes Eddie fell harder but Buck will catch him up before too long - he just has some more of his own trauma to process first and that starts with him ending things with Taylor - because in some ways Taylor is Ana - the convenient front he’s hiding behind that is allowing Buck to not deal with his actual issues!

I just love college aus so much and i am always curious about how people interpret characters in that setting.

Ahhh okay okay- this is going to be SUPER long and super specific, sorry!!

Majors:

Okay first, Eddie. Eddie was hard. I thought about making him ROTC but like, no. So, to answer two of your questions at once, I'm going to make Eddie a teacher with a focus on children with disabilities. That's where he meets Chris (who lives with his grandfather Bobby heheh), and the two connect immediately.

Eddie's putting himself through college, which is why he's an RA. But he also works weekends at a local coffee shop (yes I am merging a coffee shop AU into this college AU). Buck is a frequent visitor.

Buck is a marine biologist and you will not change my mind. He got caught in a tsunami over the summer before his freshman year, but he never even thought about changing his major. He's obsessed with helping animals and the environment. His ADHD definitely gets in the way with school sometimes (and yes, he was prescribed meds, but they make him feel weird and sick and really it only is detrimental to his school life not his personal one, but that's why he's got the best friends). Likes to take a bunch of random classes when they fit though because he just loves learning about things, so he's like...the university cryptid. Everyone feels like they've had at least one class with him.

Hen is Biology (Pre-med, of course!). Do I even need to explain? Doctor Hen my beloved. But, she definitely is minoring in something like woman studies or anthropology so she can get a better understanding of the intersection of culture and being a medical professional in a way that some doctors...don't. Stan Hen.

Chim...Honestly, Chim was kinda hard, and I'm not 100% sure I'm right on this. But Chim as a Comms major just makes sense to me. But like, Digital Comms, so he does social media and website creations and stuff. He's pretty laid-back overall, but this man is obsessed with internships. The annoying (but lovable in Chim's case) person who had an internship every semester and then complained that he had so much work to do.

Albert is 100% undecided. That man doesn't know what he wants to do AT ALL so currently he's taking 1 philosophy class? (it fits my vibe, Chim!) He's taking a Music Production class for sure, and he makes stupid EDM music that drives Ravi insane. And then just a bunch of core classes.

I headcanon Ravi as a linguistics person, idk why. I think he didn't want to become an engineer or doctor (like maybe was expected of him as it is in my South Asian family) but he's still super smart, right? He's taking two language classes and a couple of data science classes, but really he wants to do humanitarian work if he can make a living career out of it. Idk no one but Hen really understands his major, but they all ask him for help studying because he's literally so good at everything? School, check. Sports, check. Social life, A-. He can't sing though, which is fine until someone tells him to shut up in the communal showers.

I'm thinking I'll make Maddie a drop-in character so that she can fall in love with Chim? But she graduated undergrad early and is going to PA (physician's assistant) school.

Roommates:

Buck has rich people money. Yes, he hates his parents, and they suck, but he's got rich people money to put him through college (and if he spends half of it tipping at Eddie's coffee shop, that's his business). So he lives in a dorm room by himself, has his own personal bathroom and everything, ugh. He's neighbors with Eddie though (walls are thin)...

Ravi and Albert are roommates. They can't stand each other, but if you ever bring that up they'll get so offended. (Wtf? Ravi's my best friend, bro).

Eddie's an RA, so he's also got his own room, but he can frequently be found at the apartment off-campus that Chim and Hen share.

Years:

Eddie is a sophomore. Chim and Hen are juniors. Buck and Ravi are freshman. Who knows when Albert will graduate, two years early? Two years late? Who knows.

And yes, I know in canon Albert gets his undergrad in Korea when he's like 16, but I don't want that for him. I want him to be chaotic as he should.

The Art of Wooing Your Best Friend

Buck is not sure what possesses him to do so. But its late. And it’s the only thing he can think of, cause well, all he could think about lately was Eddie.

He is unequivocally in love with Eddie Diaz. And Eddie has no idea.

So, while he can’t sleep, and would usually go on one of his research binges, he taps out into his phone “How to woo your best friend.”

One of the websites said to make himself less available- no way was he doing that.

A lot of articles said to Be Yourself- and he was already so very much himself with Eddie that he’s pretty sure that Eddie is the only person that really knows him besides Maddie.

He already spent most of his free time with Eddie.

He was already confident around him.

They already knew their many similarities.

They already shared subtle touches with one another.

Should he just straight up flirt with Eddie until he notices? Just ask him out?

He closes the tabs and starts down another small research binge on paper crafts.

The next day he sits at the table in the loft folding some paper into flowers.

“Whatcha got there Buckaroo?” Chim asks

“Went on a paper crafting research binge last night and found some cool flowers I could make”

“They are beautiful” Eddie says looking at the few that were finished and laying on the table.

A warmth blooms in Buck’s chest, “Thanks.”

Eddie finds the paper flowers in his locker at the end of his shift. He grumbles a bit in confusion and takes them in his hands. Buck sometimes used his deodorant and after the long shift must have accidently left the flowers in there.

He spots Buck and jogs a bit to catch up, “Hey! Buck, you left these in my locker by accident, thought you might want them back.”

“Oh…Thanks..” Buck says, Eddie doesn’t see him deflate a little. Buck accepts the paper flowers back.

“Well, I gotta get home and relieve Pepa from Chris duty. You still coming over tomorrow?”

“Yeah. Give him a hug for me?”

“Of course.”

He was heading to his sad empty apartment after dinner and Chris was in bed, when he tried casually, “Wanna grab dinner tomorrow?”

“Chris is with Abuela tomorrow night.”

“I know. Dinner, just the two of us.”

��Sounds better than me almost burning the house down then ordering Chinese. We could go to that taco truck.”

Buck’s mind blue screened for a second then screamed, no! somewhere where we can sit down and go on a proper date, what comes out is, “Ok, yeah. I hadn’t really thought about where we would go. See ya tomorrow.” Well, that had failed. He’s not even sure why he had done that and not corrected Eddie when he hadn’t made the connection of what dinner just the two of them could mean.

He goes home and lays face first into the bed and screams.

So they go to the taco truck and have a great time. Cause they always do when they are together.

Buck stops flirting with people on calls. He had not really realized how much of a second nature it was to him until he started making such a conscious decision to not.

Eddie notices this, but before he can mention it to Buck, Chim swoops in with, “So Buckaroo, you got a secret girlfriend or something?”

Buck sputters for a second, “What? No! What makes you ask?”

“You just have stopped flirting with girls on calls. That’s all.”

“Well first off, who said I only flirted with girls on calls? And second why does that have to mean I have a girlfriend? Maybe I have matured.”

Chimney just immediately breaks out into howling laughter.

“You haven’t stopped flirting with me.” Eddie says before he can stop himself.

Buck swallows the retort of, ever stop and think about why? And just rolls his eyes and stalks off to see if anything needed restocking. God Eddie really was oblivious.

He was really unsure of what to do next short of bringing Eddie flowers the next time he went over to his house. So that’s what he did.

Eddie answered the door and Buck offered the flowers to him with a blank expression on his face. WTF was going on. Why couldn’t he think when Eddie looked at him? He did know why, but he thought being aware of it would fix it.

“Thank you, Buck. Let’s get these in some water.” Buck followed Eddie to the kitchen and leans against the counter, watching Eddie carefully put the flowers in a vase.

“What’s the occasion? Did I miss our anniversary? Or are you trying to woo me or something?”

Buck gulps.

“Yeah.”

There’s a thump of the vase hitting the counter. Eddie turns around.

“Oh my god. You have been flirting with me…”

“For like 4 years.”

“But then you stopped flirting with other people.”

“Yeah.” Buck is staring at his shoes.

“Oh my god. I’m an idiot. Was that time you invited me to dinner, and I suggested the taco truck, supposed to be a date?”

“That’s kinda what I meant when I asked to get dinner with you. But then, I don’t know what happened. I just I couldn’t say hey, this is a date let’s go somewhere a little fancier.”

“The paper flowers. You meant to leave them for me.”

Buck just produced one of said paper flowers from his jacket pocket. And handed it to Eddie.

Eddie examined it and noticed something that he hadn’t before. “Open me” was inscribed on one of the petals.

“open it.” Buck nudges shyly.

Eddie gingerly opens the flower. It all almost feels a little middle school. But Eddie loves it.

The note inscribed inside the flower only ups the middle school levels of cheese:

roses are red

violets are blue

Eddie, will you be my boo?

[circle yes or no]

Eddie is suddenly scrambling muttering about finding a pen and yeses

Buck just catches his wrist.

“You don’t actually have to, you know…”

“Oh. The answer is yes by the way.”

“I got that from your muttering. So, can we get some dinner? Just the two of us? Somewhere fancy?”

“I would love that.”

Eddie still finds a pen and circles yes. They hang it on the fridge.

One morning a few years later Buck wakes to find a somewhat rumpled folded flower on his night stand.

Open me.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Will you marry me, buckaroo?

[circle yes or no]

He laughed because Hen had come up with that at some point and often joked that it would be how Eddie proposed. When Buck makes it to the kitchen, Eddie proposes for real, with something much more loving and eloquent.

   born & raised in nashville , tennessee , madison is the daughter of two country music icons ( basically blake shelton & miranda lambert ) & has only ever known a life in the spotlight . her parents were a widely adored it couple who shared their lives with millions of viewers across the world with their reality tv show . at 7pm cst you could tune in to watch robbie & dixie raise their two daughters - having some good ol’ wholesome family fun while juggling responsibilities that come with being famous artists . to any outsider looking in , they seemed like the perfect family . a loving father , a supportive mother , two prim & proper daughters that collected accolade after accolade in every pageant & talent competition they ever entered . but you shouldn’t believe everything you see on tv , even if it’s deceptively labeled as “reality” .

   when the cameras weren’t rolling , the darling sisters were left under their mother’s restrictive control . dixie darling treated her daughters more like dolls than living beings , madison & delaney were basically pretty little accessories . while robbie never dared to mistreat his daughters , he was around a lot less than the show made it seem - often touring the world rather than spending quality time with his girls . plus , dixie & robbie seemed to endlessly fight with one another - nearly every childhood memory madison has of her parents involves them yelling . if she wanted to see them looking happy & in love , she’d have to tune in to the fabricated reality on their own show to get a taste of what a happy , loving family looks like . 

   you can’t be a child of dixie darling without being exploited in some way . while delaney was pushed into the music scene , madison was shoved into the world of dance . she took every class that was offered & practiced for hours upon hours to perfect her craft . her sister had taken after their folks with the singing voice of an angel & the looks to rival that of miss universe , meanwhile maddie was good for two things : dance & doing whatever her mother said . so when dixie said to twirl , she twirled , when she said do a grand jeté, maddie asked how high & then over performed like the good little girl she was trained to be .

   it wasn’t until her parents got divorced & maddie moved to miami to be with her sister , her father , & her father’s new girlfriend that she sort of came out ( or more accruately described as dragged out ) of her timid , non - confrontational , subservient shell . with a longer leash , she had more freedom to roam far & wide . no one tried to tell her what to do or who to talk to & considering she was just a privileged teenager with endless funds & the status to get away with just about anything , you can imagine how badly that went . every mistake she made was broadcasted onto people’s televisions or headlined in tabloids . it was stressful , growing up & messing up all under the watchful gaze of millions of people who felt entitled to berate her for her poor life decisions . just because they watched her grow up on tv didn’t mean they actually knew anything about her . & yet so many people shared their unsolicited opinions on her & her life . it drove her insame .

   maddie wasn’t handling the stress of being well known very well . she wanted a break from it all , to just go somewhere far away where no one knew her name & just live by herself . it was a silly dream . nothing she’d ever actively pursue . but the universe has a funny way of giving us a taste of what we think we want just to teach us a lesson . 

   so over a year ago , maddie found out that she was pregnant . it was a shock to say the least . she kept it a close guarded secret from everyone but her sister for awhile . not only was it a life changing development , but it was one thing that she was determined not to share with the rest of the world . with the idea of running away in continuous loop in the back of her mind , she came up with a plan to buy herself some time . she faked a really bad injury during a performance & let the media run with saying she might not be able to walk , let alone dance ever again . pushing the cover story even further , she claimed to be in need of intense physical therapy & sought after it in a luxurious private lodge in new zealand . that’s where she stayed during her year away , letting no outsiders come visit while she figured out how she was going to move forward with this baby growing inside of her .

   so maddie finally got the break she was looking for even if it wasn’t under the circumstances that she would’ve liked . but she adapted to the situation . in her time away , she went through the entire pregnancy but it was basically decided for her by her parents that it was best to give the baby up for adoption . the little girl would be in good care by a couple that was a family friend of the darlings . better to bless someone who wanted a baby but couldn’t have one than for maddie to keep her daughter when she wasn’t in a place to take care of her . it broke her heart , honestly . she had grown quite attached to the baby & even entertained the idea of being a single mom even though she knew her own mom would never let that happen - it would go against the strict narrative that they try to put out there about the darling family .

   after a year away , maddie is back in miami without anyone knowing what really happened . she keeps using the “injury” as the excuse for her absence from the spotlight . anyone really close to her might be able to tell that something’s off , but she’s trying so hard to act like everything is fine & nothing has changed at all . she might even be able to get away with her lies - if it wasn’t for that damn 786 website threatening to spill the tea & make her life hell .

   before her year away i want to say that she was a lot more people please-y / overly eager to please ?? like rarely said no to people that asked for favors , always agreed to any plans people invited her to out of courtesy , & what have you . but now i see her as being a little less patient than before & a little bit more unhinged & quick to shut down or snap

   wants to be mysterious so bad but there is very little known about her & her life that isn’t public knowledge . she could get shit on by a bird & it’ll probably become a twitter highlight idk she just wants to believe she’s imperceptible & acts all evasive in order to keep her private life private but that rarely ever has the desired effect

wait... i am confusion.... whats going on? somehow ive avoided clique drama for 6 years (no idea how tbh) and so this is the first ive heard of this "pyramid scheme"??? may i ask what thats about?

Tyler’s sister Maddy has been involved in multiple MLM (multilevel marketing) scams to make money. Her most recent one is called BeachBody which sells workout routines and supplements and shakes and shit. She promotes her scams to her Instagram followers, many of whom she has because of her famous brother and many of them impressionable people and children who may get involved just because someone connected to Tyler is promoting it.

MLMs are predatory schemes which drain the wallets of people who sign up for them because you’re always having to recruit more people to buy from you and then sell under your line to move you up the pyramid. 90% of people who get involved with MLMs fail and lose money rather than receive any of the success that is falsely promised. They manipulate and prey upon people’s insecurities— body image, finances, supporting one’s family, especially women/mothers. They steal empowerment slogans like “boss babe” and use CULT LIKE MIND CONTROL TACTICS to convince people it’s not just sales... it’s a whole lifestyle movement that will BETTER YOU. They make it appear like you own your own company when really you’re just a fool making high levels rich.

So you sign up to work for them, investing your own money to start selling the product and you go through training of “winning sales strategies” and if you follow everything they tell you, you’ll be ROLLING IN CASH. Then they tell you exactly what to say to your friends, family, and every single person on your social media to guilt them and deceive them into buying whatever you’re selling. There’s an MLM for everything and most of the products are GARBAGE. Some actually cause damage like Monat hair products (chemical burns). They act like these are the best products ever but are unregulated, not clinically tested, and dangerous... some claiming to cure illnesses and coronavirus and cancer (that’s more of the nutritional supplement and essential oils worlds but yeah they make massive claims).

But the products don’t even matter sometimes... the real scheme is recruiting more people to join. Someone got you to join and they make money off what you sell and who you recruit (your up line). You want to recruit more people so you can become an upline too. These schemes have levels you can “achieve” and they promise you more money, more rewards, cars, vacations, etc. it’s always about selling selling selling and recruiting. They have ridiculous scripting, formulaic social media posts, and people will cold message others to try and recruit them (I’ve seen posts where people message people going through a major loss and being like X product will HELP YOU SO MUCH). Predatory and disgusting. They bombard everyone with their company and often ruins relationships because all they want is YOUR MONEY and are completely disingenuine. I could go on forever about patterns of strategies they us and they’re always changing what they’re doing because people catch on— nowadays they tell the salespeople to not even name the company.

Anyway, I could go on and on forever. There’s lots of anti-MLM videos on YouTube, there’s a website that tells you if a company is an MLM (some may surprise you because they’re established brands and even have physical shops— Pampered Chef, Body Shop, Avon, etc. I learned a lot from the fb group “sounds like mlm but ok” which shares real posts sent in by members, and some members even were formerly involved in MLMs and answer questions about them. They keep a massive list of known MLMs and update frequently. There’s literally an MLM for everything.

So Maddy’s in this MLM which is all about fitness and weight loss (which is scary to be promoting this to young, impressionable fans/children especially while she’s pregnant). She’s been posting NOT SOCIALLY DISTANCED PHOTOS AND VIDEOS with Jenna while working out. She’s trying to recruit people to her team and she frequently posts on her IG story/page about it. Most recently she is trying to get 10 new sign ups and she posted a list of who’s signed up so far and “Jenna J” is on the list. Most people assume it’s Jenna and some are trying to defend her that it may be a strategy of Maddy to trick people into signing up.

Several things could be going on:

Jenna could think she’s just helping out her sister in law with her business. She’s ignorant and ill-informed and misusing her platform of even more followers, many of whom may sign up because she appears to be the ideal standard of beauty and body type— people want to look like her even though that’s extremely toxic. She may or may not even participate in this, but regardless her name is there and makes it seem like she is endorsing a dangerous pyramid scheme to over a million people.

Someone online is claiming Maddy made up her name because Jenna isn’t part of the private Facebook group that Maddy has for people that signed up... 1. Do y’all really think Jenna would have a Facebook or be in a setting where people could find her secret account? No... and IF maddy is using her name and making it up and implying she’s involved... they all need to be more aware of Maddy’s rogue posts manipulating the audience she primarily only has because of her famous brother. Because tying Jenna’s name to this is dangerous.

In conclusion, there’s a reddit post getting a lot of attention and making people aware of what’s happening and what’s the risk. I’ve seen a lot of people on twitter warning people. Some Instagram comments are calling Maddy directly out (though there’s many who are in support.... and the negative comments can be deleted. Be careful what you see people promoting online and do your research. MLMs are insidious and I’ve personally seen people get involved in them.

The irony that Tyler literally posted a few days ago about companies asking him to promote their “garbage products”. He’s extremely anti ads and endorsing specific brands or doing celebrity ads (Josh on the other hand... he sure does love Nike and there was a lot of Nike product placement recently...). I really appreciate that about Tyler and I think it’s awesome he knows the power his support wields because of the very invested fan base. I just wished he’d notice that two of his siblings often use and manipulate the attention they get because of him to try and get rich quick. I get that he’s very supportive of his family, but there’s got to be some line where he protects his fans.

I hope he finds out about this from either reddit or twitter lurking (which he does a lot) and puts a stop to it because it’s dangerous and manipulative and not at all what he is about as a person.
