I didn't know he was a medical professional but it makes so much sense! One of the first things I raved about after watching the movie the first time was how accurate it was that dementus had a seizure after having his head violently beaten multiple times.

As a nurse, that realism was a big part of immersion that you don't often see in films and I'm so thankful! Medical realism is so so so rare and I love Miller for that.

A new 𝑴𝒂𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒙 film, a prequel to 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅, is in development, taking place one year before and focusing on 𝗠𝗮𝘅 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗸𝘆's backstory 👏🏻🤩💓!!!

The story is written and 𝗧𝗼𝗺 will return, since he signed for 3 (or 4) films, and 3 years ago he revealed that he is still waiting for the call to play that character more times 🥰

Scrotus headcanons incoming under the cut!

(A lot of these were already posted and discussed in the Mad Max server, but @kamakrazeeee inspired me to flesh them out and add some more that’d been rattling around in my brain, so now you all get to see them too)

• He’s the middle child, born not long after Corpus, and only two or so years prior to Rictus. Definitely feels like he suffers from Middle Child Syndrome™️ and tries to make up for it with his ruthlessness and desire to prove himself as just as capable as his father.

• Has a love-hate relationship with Rictus, usually bordering on hate. He sees him as an incompetent obstacle, too often bumbling things up in a way that gets under Scrotus’ skin, and that alongside his constant childish disobedience of their father, and the things Scrotus knows he gets up to in the Vault when he thinks no one is looking, but refuses to outwardly acknowledge, drive him up a wall and thin his barely there patience to NOTHING. But despite how often he messes with him, he is the *only* one allowed to. Anyone else messes with his little brother, and he’ll have them dangling from a crane by dinner.

• He gets along much better with Corpus, and they often join together to help brainstorm tactical and political solutions to problems that arise in their father’s empire. He also vents to Corpus over any perceived grief, often. Corpus is the only one that will listen. Mostly because he usually doesn’t have a choice (He’ll roll his eyes when Scrotus isn’t paying attention, though.)

• Very fidgety, always moving or pacing or cracking his knuckles. He’s too full of energy at all times and has trouble staying still.

• WILL bite.

• He is THE daddiest boy, but is not afraid to go up against his father if he feels the path he’s chosen is the wrong one, which is often, and made worse by the feeling that Joe never seems to take his suggestions seriously.

• Violence is always the solution. Do not try to negotiate. He’ll just cut your arms off and do what he wants anyway.

• He suffers from severe, chronic eczema, which is constantly covering him in itchy, splotchy rashes and scabs- he only makes it worse by refusing to heed the Organic Mechanic’s advice and scratches at it like a dog with fleas until it bleeds, marking him all over with scars.

• He’s moved out of the Citadel and tasked with leading Gastown once Dementus is killed at the end of the 40 Day War, and does so for several hundred days until he himself is killed in a battle with an unknown road warrior. The position is then taken up by The People Eater to fill the power vacuum he had left

• Much (though definitely not all. Look at him. This man is a diva) of his bravado is posturing to make up for how unworthy he feels, how the fear of being a failure seeps into his bloodstream, knowing that he was born and conceived for one purpose and one purpose only, only to have his father deem him unfit and rip his fate from his grasp. That, alongside his father’s cold shoulder and constant brushing off of him, has led to deep set wounds and trauma that he strives to convince others- and most especially himself- aren’t actually there. This has greatly affected his self image, and makes him all the more desperate to please his father despite knowing he can’t

• He hates feeling in the dark about things, or not knowing what’s going on, which makes him VERY nosy. He always tries to get as much information or be as involved in things as he can, and often uses it as leverage however he sees fit

• He’s perpetually angry. For one reason or another rage is ALWAYS simmering under his skin, has been since he was born. That, and his affinity for sudden and brutal acts of violence, make for a bad combination

• Scrotus was around 24 when Furiosa was first brought to the Citadel, which puts him at around 39 during the 40 Day War and 42 during the events of Fury Road (had he lived that long)

• He’s often found doing menial tasks around the Citadel, usually of his own dictation, save for the times when Joe himself asks for Scrotus to lead the charge on a project personally (Like the War Rig in Furiosa, something big and important enough for one of the Immorta to watch over, but not urgent enough for The Immortan himself.). Half of it is out of a desire to show himself worthy to his father even in the smaller ways, that he can lead and direct the Citadel and its citizens just as Joe does. The rest is just to give himself things to do in the downtimes, when his blood runs too hot for him to sit still and do nothing.

•Corpus, Scrotus and Rictus were all born of the same woman- the first of Joe’s eventual harem of breeders, and the originator of the ‘Three strikes, you’re out’ rule, having birthed three sons that were all deemed at one time or another unsatisfactory to carry on Joe’s legacy. None of them ever got to know her- they were all plucked out of the vault as soon after birth as would have been healthily allowed and handed to Joe himself. I imagine for the first few years of his life, Scrotus appeared outwardly as close to a full life as one could imagine. He had rashes and patches of flaky skin here and there, but his skin disease didn’t start truly showing up until he made it to his pre-teens and hit puberty, and it didn’t get bad enough to require his fish skin tunic or reach the severity that we see in furiosa until his late teens, and only gets worse from then on. Otherwise, he’d been a perfect specimen, and for the first decade or so of his life Joe had a very personal hand in raising him up in his image to be the next Immortan, molding the red hot flame that burned bright inside into something that could hopefully sustain the Citadel long after he himself was gone. But the older Scrotus got, the more his ‘deficiencies’ were brought to light- Joe sees them, both physical and mental, as a projection of all of his own impurities, on top of the disappointment of something having been so promising, years of work and teaching, now reduced to nothing. And once he deems Scrotus too unstable and imperfect for his vision, he casts him down from the pedestal of Immortan and passes him off instead to Miss Giddy for the rest of his teen years to continue his basic teachings, and to the Imperators to help him hone the supercharged emotion that swirls within him into something violent and brutal. A perfect warrior, since he’s proved himself to be less than a perfect son. Scrotus spends the rest of his life in one way or another trying to win back the assurity in him his father had once shown.

•He’s been extremely skilled in fighting from a young age, and used to make it a game as he grew to see how many Imperators he could beat and slaughter during training sessions to prove his prowess. The answer is WAAAAY too many.

•He’s a lot smarter than most people take him for, and very well learned and well read thanks to Miss Giddy. Unfortunately, his anger and impulsivity is quick to cloud his rational judgment, especially when he’s lost in an inner storm of heightened emotion, which gets him making reckless split second decisions and leading him more often than not to want to charge headfirst at an enemy than think through a solid plan. It also seeps in a lot into his actual fighting style- as skilled and gifted in the art of war as he is, he too easily loses himself to his emotions and drops his learned attacks for something much more feral and animalistic, which serves him well against those lesser trained, but causes problems for him if he loses his head going up against an opponent that’s just as skilled as he is. It’s what causes his downfall in the end.

•He collects a tooth from each of his slain enemies and uses them to decorate the interior of the Cranky Black.

the amount of people i still see complaining about furiosa using "too much cgi" is so irritating and shows that people read something online and run with it as a collective.

majority of the movie was actually done with stunts and practical effects. media literacy is dead and so is the ability to enjoy a director's or cinematographer's choice in stylized flair i guess.

I think I would have been fine with the ending events if we had those two extra episodes. As is, it just made me feel... sad. and a bit like i'd been hit by a truck. or several trucks.

There were so many good bits but I couldn't appreciate them because there were so many fucking trucks hitting me.

lando’s girlfriend was a concerning driver. growing up in the english country side, especially with her racing-mad brother max, she became very accustomed to driving at insane speeds down backroads, learning where the swerve potholes and where all the cameras were. honestly, put her in an f1 car with a good song and watch max verstappen crumble.

her brother and his friend could speed around race tracks, y/n preferred real roads.

the only flaw in her driving ability arose when lando, who notoriously hates being a passenger, sat to her left, gripping any hard surface he could as his girlfriend threw her car around a corner.

“y/n, angel, you know i love you - but why do you drive like you had somewhere to be 10 minutes ago?”

“this is a good song,” she answered with a shrug, which only confused him further, yet she slowed down, glancing at the man besides her, “it’s got a good bassline. you literally drive at like 200 miles an hour and yet you’re getting stressed about me going 80 on an empty road?”

“the difference between you and me is that i wear a helmet when i drive that fast.”

“no one is stopping you from putting a helmet on in my car, lan.”

“erm, i think the national speed sign meaning 60mph should be enough that i shouldn’t need to wear a helmet in your car y/n.”

“god you’re so dramatic, lando - has anyone ever told you that?”

“yes. you. the last time i complained about your driving, you little speed demon,” he said, finally laughing quietly at the situation.

in fact, they were late. they were supposed to be at a quadrant shoot in 10 minutes, but still needed to pick up will and becky from the station near to the warehouse they were filming in. when they finally reached the station, lando jumped out of the car to meet them, leaving y/n to sit in silence, queuing a few songs for the short journey to the shooting location.

“y’alright y/n?” will asked, climibing into the back seat of her car, becky climbing in from the other side.

“i’m good, thank you will. how are you?”

“im good, however i’ll let you know how i feel after ive experienced your driving,” he joked, earning a guilty chuckle from lando who was buckling himself back into the passenger seat. her hand rose, slapping his arm lightly.

“hey! my driving is not that bad.”

“let them find that out for themselves, angel,” he responded, dramatically rubbing his arm, feigning pain. she ignored him, shoving the car into gear before jamming her foot onto the accelerator, the loud engine loud enough to wake the dead.

when they did arrive at the shoot, will had gone silent, his face paler than usual. becky was still smiling and chatting, but her face conveyed the same level of fear as wills. the group of them walked into the warehouse, where max was already waiting.

y/n walked up to max, taking him in a small embrace before stepping back to let him greet the rest of the group.

“will? you good man? you look like you’ve seen a ghost,” max said, taking a step back to look at the man a second time.

“yeah, yeah, im good,” he responded, smiling sheepishly. y/n absentmindedly played with her car keys, the jingling of her key rings raising max’s attention.

“lando let you drive? jesus, no wonder will looks like he needs a fresh pair of trousers,” max laughed, doubling over.

“why does everyone think im such a bad driver? i have not crashed once. never. not a single crash. the same cannot be said for you or lando, max,” she exclaimed, beginning to feel offended at the accusations.

“in all fairness, lando warned me. i thought he was joking when he said she loved the accelerator more than she loves him,” will replied, the colour coming back to his face as he smiled. max shook his head at his sister again, before directing will and becky round to the sofas, running them through the plans for the day.

y/n felt a warm pair of arms snake around her body from behind, lando’s head coming to rest on her shoulder. he turned his head to look at her, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek.

“im not actually a bad driver, am i?” she mumbled to him.

“no angel, people are just jealous of your sheer ability to drive at dangerous speeds and do it safely,” he responded, he meant to be sincere but y/n could feel the sarcastic undertones.

she shook her head at him, pulling away from his embrace, but his hand reached out, latching onto hers, before pulling her back into him. this time her chest melted into his, her head tilting to glance up at him.

“i hate this scarf,” she announced, but stretched her neck up to presses soft kisses along his jaw.

“ouch. why? i like it.”

“’cos it covers your neck. i love your neck,” she said, smiling up at him again.

“i know you do angel. your love for my neck is the reason i have to wear a scarf for the shoot today,” he said, laughing, his hands moving from her back to push loose strands of her behind her ears. a blush rose up her cheeks at the memory of the night before, as her fingers moved to pull the scarf down slightly looking at the bruises beginning to darken on his skin.

she hadn't meant to, but she had found herself on top of him last night, legs straddling him as his pushed up into her. with max only a room over, she needed to find an outlet for the noises she wanted to make and his neck fell victim.

“whoopsies. but im sure the lando girlies would love to see you with hickies.”

“i’m sure they would,” he said, grinning at her still and nodding slightly, “im sure your brother would love it to,” he added sarcastically, glancing over to the man in question who was now handing becky a script.

she tutted in response, pulling his scarf back up to covering his neck. lando’s head tilted down to look at her again, using his hands on her jaw to pull her face up closer to his. his lips pressed soft kisses to her forehead and cheeks before finally planting a soft but quick peck to her lips.

“lando did you want to stop getting it on with my sister and come and do your job?” max bellowed from across the room, pulling the two apart.

lando decided he should probably drive the two of them home that day, and let max take the others back to the station, but the moment the car moved off from where it was parked, he stalled the engine.

"formula 1 driver but can't drive a manual without stalling it. that's embarrassing - now who can't drive?" she joked, laughing at him as he restarted the ignition.

"still you," he replied bluntly, his foot slamming down on the accelerator sending the car flying across the car park.

"please don't destroy my car," she begged quietly at the sound of her engine about to take off, "a man i quite like bought it for me and id hate to make him angry when he has to buy me new tyres."

"ill just buy you another car," he joked as he returned to the speed limit of the road ahead, his hand moving from the gear stick to rest on her thigh, grabbing lightly at it.

"you're not a bad driver, you know that, don't you angel?" he said after a few minutes of silence. he'd admit that she wasn't the best driver, but she was still skilled even if slightly reckless.

"i know," she said, her voice still heavy with the annoyance from everyone's teasing.

"you would be great at karting, you know?"

"stop it - i spent my entire childhood trying to avoid karting please do not bring it into my adulthood," she begged, albeit jokingly.

"why did you avoid it? im sure max would've loved to race with you," lando asked, glancing to his side to look at her face, her head leaning on the door panel.

"it was max's thing, i guess. i didn't want to do what he did. i wanted to be my own person. i still do," she said with a shrug. lando's hand moved from her thigh to grab hers, pulling it up to his face to press a kiss to the back of it.

"i'm glad you're unapologetically you. i don't think i could cope with two max's in my life. or two of you for that matter."

BBC Radio 1 - 1997: The love edition

Can't believe that so many seminal Noel & Liam quotes are from the very same interview, either Noel's life + music crisis poured it all out of him, or the good moments are just indeed that good BTS.

Naturally, they were (allegedly) drunk. Liam wasn't supposed to show up but he changed his mind last minute, my headcanon is that he missed Noel judging from how well they got along that day.

I'm very friendly to my bed, I love my bed, and my bed loves me.

(Interviewer says Liam only gets better, Noel complains Liam doesn't show up for B sides recordings, Liam says he had a sore throat, and somehow, this comes to this.)

Love-love-love. Liam twists exhibition (oasis photo thing) into expedition and Noel's bullying turns into a live fantasy of marching down the south pole wastelands together to build heart shaped igloos, also Liam's shy. And fighting for his life.

There we have it, a recorded (half) confession.

Okay so here I find the "as long as ... for a couple of quids" holds some meaning as Noel goes a little rigid saying no. Can't ever meant this. but I can't for the life of me understand Liam.

Also Liam clears out that inspiration entails for him listening and understanding him without rushing into ill-made judgments and it's palpable he's at his limits with the media. Coincidentally the day after this interview he was tracked down by journalists, asking him if he had regrets over what he said, because apparently he swore too much and had people clutch on their pearls all over the UK.

I could sum this one up with Pardon? but -- "that man is a bigger man than I am, why, it has nothing to do with you, but he has to deal with life and with somebody like me on top of everything else" yet by the end of that year it had all gone to flames. Noel truly cares about Liam's opinion but won't show it (nothing new ik) However that giggle at the end has my wonders.

I've already watched 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒔𝒂, and...

It's been a while since a film made me go, “🤨?”

It's very weird, it's like poorly edited, poorly shot, only some performances are saved... It's as if the director of this film and the 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅's were two different people 😧 It has no point of comparison... It looked better in the trailers... 😅

It would have been better, in my opinion, if they had made a sequel instead of a prequel in these 9 years that have passed, and told 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒔𝒂's story in it in some way 🤔

By the way, 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 cameo was great, I loved seeing 𝗠𝗮𝘅 even though it was from afar 😏 I was also expecting him to be 𝗧𝗼𝗺, but 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 is also 𝗠𝗮𝘅, so, cool 👌🏻 (Can't wait to see his cameo in 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 💓)

Hacía tiempo que una película no hacía que me quedara como: “¿🤨?”

Es rarisíma, está como mal editada, mal rodada, solo algunas actuaciones se salvan... Es como si el director de esta película y el de 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅 fueran dos personas distintas 😧 No tiene ni punto de comparación... Se veía mejor en los tráilers... 😅

Hubiera sido mejor, en mi opinión, que hubieran hecho una secuela en lugar de precuela en estos 9 años que han pasado, y contar la historia de 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒔𝒂 en ella de alguna manera 🤔

Por cierto, buen cameo el de 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲, me encantó ver a 𝗠𝗮𝘅 aunque fuera de lejos 😏 Me esperaba también que fuera 𝗧𝗼𝗺 pero, 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 también es 𝗠𝗮𝘅, así que, guay 👌🏻 (Qué ganas de ver su cameo en 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒎: 𝑬𝒍 Ú𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒐 𝑩𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒆 💓)

TL;DR: HNL was studying how to give human subjects electromagnetic, most specifically visible light based, powers in order to bend space-time for their needs.

I’m going to try and condense this as much as I can because considering electromagnetism as a major force in ST (pun intended) opens up so many potential areas of analysis that can only be a brief cover of without turning into multiple essays.

Let’s go over the electromagnetic spectrum:

I hope you might already be recognizing some symbols we see often in Stranger Things, especially if you’ve been following the BTS and some location and set leaks from Season 5.

The electromagnetic spectrum encompasses the different frequencies of electromagnetic radiation - waves of energy that travel at the speed of light (and produce visible light to us at certain frequencies). You’ve probably heard of most of these, including cancer-causing gamma rays and x-rays, the visible light spectrum (the rainbow), microwaves, and radio waves.

In S5, we have the radio station as a main location for the characters. They’re also driving around in the radio station’s van, which has an image of a hawk emitting a rainbow (visible light radiation). Steve’s car also has a massive antenna on top of it. My first thoughts were that the team was trying to keep in contact with Max in hopes of her being able to hear them in her coma, considering she has a radio near her bedside. While that still may be a reason, I think the characters may have come to realize how important electromagnetic fields could be in their fight against Vecna (this where leader of the AV Club also focused on electromagnetic objects Scott Clarke may make his triumphant return).

Now to pivot onto why electromagnetism is so important to the lore of ST:

What the scientists in Hawkins Lab are likely studying is a way for human brains to produce or manipulate certain types of electromagnetic waves through telepathy. Most obviously this is seen by them having the kids try to manipulate and turn on a circle of light bulbs. Our brains actually already produce electromagnetic waves, but at a very slow frequency. The scientists are constantly measuring brain waves while conducting these experiments. We even get full shots of El’s brain waves during NINA, for example. We also see similar shots in S2 while Will is in the HNL.

You can also observe that the Hawkins National Laboratory has absolutely massive satellite dishes on it’s rooftop; ones that do not exist on the real life building but are added in post because they pose some sort of significance. Nudge, it’s because they are transmitting and receiving massive amounts of electromagnetic waves.

Why are they studying electromagnetic waves then?

They are studying electromagnetic waves because they are a method in which time travel can theoretically be achieved - the focus of the Montauk Project in which Stranger Things is based on. The military likely is investigating time travel as another war tactic against Russia.

Let us take a look at the first chapter of the Montauk Project: Experiments in Time book (they are seriously plagiarizing the living hell out of this thing):

Also, did you catch the whole 'attaching a massive antenna on the hood of my car to pick up a secret signal' thing? That's suspiciously similar to the state of Steve's car! Anyway...

The story of Stranger Things starts chronologically, as does Montauk, with the disappearance of the USS Eldridge and Project Rainbow (named after the bending of the visible light spectrum). Brenner’s father was revealed to have captained the boat in TFS, which disappeared for 12 hours into Dimension X and when it came back, the crew was killed or driven mad (except for Brenner Sr). This inspires Brenner to continue onto the Nevada project, and eventually, Hawkins National Lab’s studies. The USS Eldridge / Philadelphia Project conspiracy from real life went as follows:

They were studying electromagnetism, specifically the bending of light, to make objects invisible. This was only the first step in the experiments. Once Henry got involved and came back from his trip to Dimension X with powers, Brenner must have realized he could potentially use human subjects to manipulate electromagnetic fields themselves. Human subjects didn’t require machinery or set up and could bend space-time wherever they pleased, as long as they were able to learn the ability.

The more conspiratiorial side of Theoretical Physics proposes using circulating light beams to warp time-space, creating a wormhole in which one can literally walk through time. This is pop-science, likely not true but interesting for fiction purposes. This method of time travel being used is heavily implied due to the fact that the USS Eldridge was already able to disappear into another dimension by the bending of light.

This is how it worked in the Montauk Project book (absolutely ridiculous how much they took from this honestly):

My guess is that in the Stranger Things universe, they have not yet managed to time travel, only to create portals into this alien Dimension X. Previously, said portals were only made twice by highly advanced technological equipment. El demonstrated that she was able to open a portal all by herself - another step to achieving time travel with singular human subjects. Season five is when we will see the beginning of the time travel plot line, though it like in Montauk is likely already in a loop.

That’s where we get the name for the Rainbow Room, named after this Project Rainbow. The rainbow represents the full spectrum of visible light, and the goals of the project to bend said light into portals and eventually time travel wormholes.

Implications?:

-Well, first of all it seems very obvious by this point that we are going for a time travel plot line, and this is how it will be achieved.

-Will is heavily connected to light in general, the sun, and of course… the rainbow. He is also implied be the one involved in the time travel plot line. This will be very relevant going forward and deserves it’s own post. Potential funniness of defeating Vecna with the power of the rainbow afoot.

-Coma patients are known to have odd, barely detectable brain waves. The kids will be able to communicate with Max in her coma using the electromagnetic spectrum somehow, probably through the radio waves.

-On the farthest end of the spectrum, we have ionizing gamma ray radiation, which is known to cause cancer in humans. Expect Hopper’s daughter Sara to connect to this plot line (and perhaps Sam Owens’ dead son). There is a whole theory on this site already called radiationgate. I have not managed to look into it yet but I think they are probably onto something there. The original al pitch mentions the UD leakage into the real world causing cancer as well.
