Wonder Woman: Paper Mache

So earlier this year in Art, we had to make a paper mache figure. I had actually never dealt with paper mache until that point, but I was excited to give it a try. I decided to make Wonder Woman (because my mom asked me to make her, as a gift), which I will admit was a bit more difficult than needed. I took these pictures to catalog the process. 

The first pic is the concept art for her figure. I used a reference to make the stance and looked at posters for her looks. I had to simplify her outfit A LOT because I am NOT a professional. But it still captured the overall look so I was happy. 

The second pic is the wire skeleton. Side note: those suckers are hard to bend, and when you want to bend them a different way afterwards, it’s very difficult. She was a bit lopsided, but I was told I would be able to fix it. 

The next two pics are the paper stuffing to form her body figure (and yes, LOTS of tape was involved). 

The next pic was actually putting the paper mache on top. I also used twisted roles of toilet paper to form the details of the costume and her face.

The next step (after it dried) was painting. I was only able to paint all of her skin one class period.

The next pic is of most of the painting done. Her face still needed to be done and also the hands & gauntlets. 

The last picture is of the finished product. I was so proud and my teacher loved it. Again, it was very simple so as to not strain myself too much. And I’ll admit, I made her face a bit derpy on accident. But overall, I was very pleased with how she turned out. Tell me what you think! Not bad for my first attempt, right?

MACRA Continues Abusing Resources

Malawi Communication Regulatory Authorities (MACRA) continues to ignore calls by Malawians to stop abusing resources of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Information discovered indicates that during the recent dinner and dance for Mlakho Wa Alomwe, it was MACRA that paid for the band that performed at that function and they made a payment to Fuggie Kasipa.

Gerald Kampanikiza says each and every function of DPP through Henry Macheso are given fuel amounting to K2million on top of a special pool card which is meant for top DPP politicians and controlled by Henry Macheso who has now started building 2 houses one in area 25 and another one in Chileka Blantyre despite joining the Authority just two years ago.

“MACRA does also provide not less than 2 vehicles to transport DPP cadets to Mlakho. Cameras have also discovered excesses and this does not have the blessings of the President of Malawi Pro Peter Mutharika.”

Meanwhile, some Malawians have asked Members of Public Accounts Committee to summon MACRA CEO to explain why there is financial abuse at their institution.
