a few days ago, i was told i look like a monkey. I have nothing against monkeys, so i know the guy was just trying to bait me into a reaction. this guy was using a slur for Japanese people, many of whom I have great respect for and I don't like hearing slurs. so i asked him to cool it which he took as an opportunity to escalate the situation into violence. he continued to say something about people needing to go back to "their own country." when I asked him what if he was talking to me, he asked me, "what are you going to do about it?" and came towards me. thankfully, a library staff member intervened, telling him to leave. i didn't insult or threaten him, though i did stand up to protect myself. in the old days... well, instead of internalizing his insult, i have decided to see the hidden reason he would try to get into my head like that. i know it's more about him than me. it's how this world wants us to do to one another. to make us "the other" or a thing, but I know i'm growing, so i will not let it affect me. All that I’m askin’ is for hope in the ashes, goes the declarative chorus.

All proceeds from “Hope in the Ashes” will benefit people impacted by the fires.

“What happened on Maui is hard to even comprehend: the people, the loss and the land will need support for years to come,” Meola said in a statement.

“Maui needs all the love it can get, so share and stream this song with all your heart,” she added.

There are many versions of Gold Dust Woman, some better than others. For me, the ultimate (no offense intended to Stevie Nicks, who is, of course, the OG) is the one recorded by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson in 1978.
