Loving you in public X Chris Evans (Requested)
MasterList
Marvel MasterList

I adjusted the strap of my gown, trying to ignore the tightening in my chest. The hotel suite buzzed with activity stylists, makeup artists, and handlers scurried around, making final touches before we all headed to the premiere. And yet, all I could focus on was the silence.
His silence.
Chris and I had broken things off just five days ago.
It wasn’t explosive. No slamming doors or cruel words. It was the kind of quiet heartbreak that leaves you feeling hollow. We said we needed space, that the timing wasn’t right. I said I was tired of hiding, and he said he wasn’t ready for the whole world to know. We were two people who loved each other, trying not to ruin what was already cracking.
“Y/N?” Scarlett’s voice broke through my daze. She tilted her head, brows knit together as she stepped closer. “You alright?”
I forced a smile. “Yeah. Just a bit nervous.”
It was a weak excuse one she saw right through.
She didn’t press, just nodded and gave my hand a reassuring squeeze before walking over to the mirror. I caught my reflection as I followed her movements. My eyes were lined in gold, lips painted a soft rose, and my dress shimmered like liquid midnight. I looked like the perfect Hollywood actress.
But inside, I felt like I was splintering.
The car ride to the red carpet was filled with chatter. Scarlett, Anthony, and Sebastian were cracking jokes, trying to keep the energy light, but I knew what they were doing.
They were trying to keep me from falling apart.
“You know,” Anthony said casually, “I heard Evans is arriving just before we do. Said something about avoiding the flashbulbs.”
I stiffened. Of course he was. He always hated the media chaos. But I knew better. He didn’t want to see me.
“He’s a bloody coward,” I muttered before I could stop myself.
Seb laughed into his drink, choking. “There she is.”
“What?” I asked.
“That’s the Y/N we’ve missed,” Scarlett said with a small grin. “The one who actually says what she’s thinking.”
“Well, I’ve been thinking a lot lately,” I said, quieter this time. “And none of it’s been very fun.”
We pulled up to the venue, and I plastered on my press-ready smile. As the car door opened and the crowd screamed, I stepped out into a blinding wave of camera flashes.
The carpet was long, endless, suffocating.
Each interview felt rehearsed. Smile, laugh, talk about how excited you are for the film. Dodge the question about your love life. Rinse, repeat.
Then I saw him.
Chris stood a few feet away, looking annoyingly handsome in a perfectly tailored tux, that familiar beard trimmed just so. He was laughing at something Paul Rudd had said, but when his eyes caught mine, his smile faltered.
Only for a second. But it was enough.
He looked like he hadn’t slept properly in days.
Good. I hadn’t either.
I moved away quickly, grabbing Scarlett’s hand like a lifeline. “Let’s find the others.”
“Sure,” she said gently, leading me toward a small group of castmates doing press together.
But it didn’t matter how far I moved. I could still feel his presence.
Later, we were ushered into the green room before the screening started. There was a soft buzz of conversation, laughter, the clinking of glasses. Brie passed me a flute of champagne and raised her eyebrows.
“You okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“Y/N, love,” she said, her voice gentle but firm. “You look like you’re about to throw up.”
I looked around. He wasn’t in the room yet. But it was only a matter of time. “I just need some air.”
I pushed through the door and stepped into a quiet corridor, heels clicking softly on the marble floor. I leaned against the wall, breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth.
I should’ve been stronger. But the worst part was I still loved him. Every bloody piece of me did. And I hated myself for it.
“You’re doing that breathing thing again.”
I froze.
His voice.
I turned, and there he was. Chris. Standing only a few feet away, hands in his pockets like he didn’t know what else to do with them. His tie was slightly loosened, his eyes tired but soft.
“I didn’t know you were back here,” I said, arms folded.
“You always say that when you’re overwhelmed. The breathing trick. In through the nose, out through the mouth. You taught it to me, remember?”
Of course I remembered.
“Why are you here, Chris?”
“Same reason you are. Needed a break from the noise.”
I rolled my eyes. “Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“Pretend like everything’s fine. Like we’re just colleagues bumping into each other behind the scenes.”
He looked down, then back up. “I’m not pretending.”
I laughed bitterly. “Could’ve fooled me.”
There was a beat of silence. Then he said it softly, hesitantly. “I miss you.”
I looked away, blinking rapidly. “Don’t.”
“I do. Every second. I thought space would make things clearer, but all I see now is you. Everywhere.”
“You said you couldn’t handle the public knowing,” I whispered. “That it would ruin everything.”
“I was scared.”
I scoffed. “Of what? Loving someone out loud?”
“Of losing you because of the pressure,” he said. “Because I’ve messed things up before and I didn’t want to mess us up too.”
“Well, congratulations. You did anyway.”
He stepped forward, slow, cautious. “I never stopped loving you, Y/N. Not for a second.”
Tears threatened to spill, and I hated him for making me cry in a hallway in heels and diamonds.
“Then why didn’t you fight for me?” I said, my voice cracking.
“I didn’t think you wanted me to,” he admitted. “You walked away so quietly.”
“Because I didn’t want to beg,” I said. “I didn’t want to be the only one trying.”
Suddenly, the door creaked open, and Sebastian poked his head in. “Hey, not to interrupt your dramatic hallway moment, but actually, no. That’s exactly what I’m doing. Brie just locked the green room door and said no one’s allowed out until you two sort this out.”
Chris and I turned in sync. “What?”
Seb held up a keycard with a smirk. “You’re both locked in this corridor until you figure your shit out. Orders from Scarlett, Mackie, and about five other people. You’re welcome.”
Then he closed the door.
Chris blinked. “Did they just parent-trap us?”
I let out a disbelieving laugh. “Looks like it.”
We stood there, facing each other in stunned silence.
Then, without warning, he stepped forward, cupped my cheek gently, and said, “I’m sorry. For all of it. For letting fear win. For not choosing you out loud.”
I closed my eyes, tears slipping down. “I never wanted to hide. Not us.”
“I know,” he whispered. “And I don’t want to hide anymore either.”
I opened my eyes, searching his face. “What changed?”
“You leaving,” he said simply. “That was my wake-up call. I realised losing you in private is far worse than loving you in public.”
My heart thudded painfully. “Do you mean that?”
“Every word.”
A beat passed, then another.
And finally, finally, I stepped into him. His arms wrapped around me like they were meant to, like they never should’ve let go. I buried my face in his shoulder and breathed him in familiar, warm, home.
“I missed you too,” I murmured.
He pulled back just enough to look at me. “So… what do we do now?”
“We go out there,” I said, brushing a tear from my cheek, “and we give them a headline.”
His eyes lit up. “You serious?”
I nodded. “We’ve done everything else secretly. Let’s make this loud.”
A wide grin spread across his face one I hadn’t seen in weeks.
“You sure you want to be seen with me?”
I snorted. “Evans, please. You’re lucky I’m giving you a second chance.”
“Oh, I know,” he said, pulling me in for a quick, fierce kiss. “And I plan on earning it.”
When we finally walked back into the green room, hand in hand, the room fell quiet.
Then Scarlett clapped. “Well, it’s about bloody time.”
Brie grinned. “Told you it’d work.”
Mackie whooped. “Operation Get Those Idiots Back Together is officially a success!”
Chris leaned in and whispered, “You sure we’re not being too loud?”
I squeezed his hand. “Nope. This is exactly the kind of noise I want.”
And as we walked onto the red carpet his fingers laced tightly with mine, cameras flashing and fans screaming I realised something.
This wasn’t just our comeback.
It was our beginning.

my mini multiverse of madness…
Undercover (Steve Rodgers x Reader)
“Rodgers! Y/L/N!” Nick Fury walked into the Avengers tower, calling both your name and Steve’s. You got up from where you were reading at the table, and Steve walked into the room. Tony snorted at how much more respectful you both were to Nick than he was. Nick shot Tony a look, and returned his attention to you. “I’ve got a mission for you both. It’s undercover, aliases, the whole ordeal.”
You nodded, and so did Steve. “What are the aliases?” you asked curiously. Steve glanced over at you, then looked back at Nick for him to answer the questions.
“You two will be posing as a young married couple at a gala. There’s a man who works at Hydra who has a good amount of intel, and he’s bringing his wife. Your best in will be to small talk the information out of them. Should be easier, considering there’s going to be a lot of champagne and probably other forms of alcohol,” Nick informed.
You felt like your eyes were going to pop out of your skull. Young married couple?? The thought already made you nervous. Acting like you were married to Steve… it sounded both like a dream come true and your worst nightmare. You had definitely developed a pretty big crush on him, which was going to make this easier, yet more difficult. And how were you supposed to focus if you kept concentrating on him and acting like you were married? Ughh, why did Nick have to give you this mission? Granted, you would’ve been jealous if he’d asked Natasha to pretend to be Steve’s wife, but you were nervous as hell.
Little did you know, Steve’s nerves were jumping off the walls of his insides as well. He adored you. He thought you were the cutest, most incredible human on earth, and he would love to pretend to be your husband for the night. His biggest fear was that something would accidentally slip out, and he’d end up confessing his feelings to you. And that? That was terrifying. What if you thought he was crazy and never wanted to be around him again? What if you felt uncomfortable dating a guy who was technically ninety-six? Of course, he still looked twenty-seven—he felt twenty-seven— but he was from a different time. Worst of all, what if you just didn’t like him, at all? Horrifying thought. Nope, no way he was going to confess to you. He was going to keep his mouth shut as much as he could possibly help, and hope that nothing slipped out while you two were on mission.
“Conveniently,” Nick continued, and you snapped out of your thoughts. “You, Steve, are physically impossible to get drunk. If he challenges you to a drinking contest, you do it. But keep an eye on how much he drinks. You want him loose-lipped enough to get some information out of him, but not so inebriated that nothing he says is coherent. Find the balance.”
Steve nodded in understanding, and Nick turned to you.
“You know as well as I do that wives often know more than they let on. If you can get his wife comfortable enough with you, I would see what information she has to offer. She might be a valuable asset,” Nick suggested.
“Sounds like a good idea,” you answered.
In the kitchen, Natasha leaned over to Tony and whispered, “what are the chances you think Fury’s putting them together to see if they’ll actually get over themselves and go on a damn date?”
Tony’s brows furrowed. “Fury? Really?”
Natasha shrugged.
“I mean, you or me I could definitely see doing that, but Fury? Man’s all business,” Tony said. “It’s annoying, actually.”
“Okay, sure, but a young married couple?” Natasha pointed out. She was still keeping her voice done. You and Steve weren’t terribly far from the kitchen as you listened to Nick explaining the details of the mission, and she didn’t want her conversation with Tony heard.
“Yeah, that’s a little suspicious,” Tony admitted. “It does work for the mission, though.”
“Yeah, I know that,” Natasha said, a hint of agitation seeping into her voice. “I’m just saying. I think that Fury’s put them together intentionally.”
“Do you wanna place some bets?” Tony offered.
“Ten bucks they get together, five bucks Fury chose this for them intentionally,” Natasha replied, crossing her arms across her chest.
“Deal.”
Tony shook Natasha’s hand.
— — —
Steve was dressed in a suit and you were wearing one of your favorite formal dresses. He was in the driver’s seat of the car, driving you both to the gala. “You ready for this?” he asked.
“Sure am,” you lied through your teeth, smiling at him.
Steve gave you his fist, and you fist bumped him. “Mr. and Mrs. Wright,” Steve said with a smile.
“That’s right,” you nodded.
“Or Wright,” Steve quipped and you started laughing at his cheesy joke. He grinned at you. “We’re gonna do this…” he said in sing-song as he pulled into the parking lot of the venue. “Remember, if you’ve got anything we need to talk about, you tap a glass three times and I’ll meet you in the resting room by the bathroom.”
You nodded in agreement. “Fancy. A resting room by the bathroom.”
Steve laughing. “Sure is.” He got out of the car and walked around to open your door. He held out his hand and helped you out of the car.
Once you were in the venue, you each got a drink and began to mingle around, looking for your targets. You tried to stay relatively close together, trying to act in a way that would make people think you were a newly married couple.
Steve nudged your arm slightly, nodding toward a small group gathered near the dance floor. Your target and his wife stood at the center, clearly enjoying the conversation.
“I’ve got an idea,” Steve said. Before you could ask, he was already leading you over, stopping just close enough to catch the attention of the man’s wife.
“Excuse me,” you said with a warm smile. “We’re new to these kinds of events—do you mind if we join you?”
Her face lit up with the kind of politeness that came with social etiquette. “Oh, of course! We were just talking about…”
And just like that, you were in.
— — —
Soon, you were talking to the target’s wife—her name was Amanda Jefferson—making small talk to get her more comfortable with you. “So, you’re newlyweds? That’s exciting,” Amanda grinned at you.
“Yes, we are,” you smiled.
“How long have you been married?”
“About eight months. He’s just…he’s amazing, I love him. He’s been a pretty consistent part of my life for almost five years now, and I just… I can’t picture life without him anymore.”
Amanda’s face softened. “I’m so happy for you.”
You grinned. “Thank you so much.”
Amanda took a sip of her wine, her smile faltering just slightly as she turned her glass in her hands. “That’s wonderful,” she said, her voice quieter now. “It’s nice to have that kind of certainty.”
You tilted your head. “You don’t sound convinced.”
She let out a soft chuckle, but there was no humor in it. “No, no, it’s not that. I just—” She hesitated, as if choosing her words carefully. “It’s refreshing to hear someone talk about love like that. Like it’s… easy.”
You frowned. “Love isn’t always easy, but it should feel right, shouldn’t it?”
Amanda exhaled slowly, her gaze drifting to the other side of the room, where her husband stood, engaged in conversation with a group of people—none of whom were her. “I suppose so.”
You followed her gaze. “How long have you and Mr. Jefferson been married?”
“Six years.” Her fingers tightened slightly around the stem of her glass. “Feels like longer.”
There was something almost weary in the way she said it. You watched as she glanced back at her husband again, her expression unreadable but distant, like she was seeing something—or someone—you couldn’t.
“Six years is a long time,” you said carefully. “But… that’s a good thing, right?”
Amanda’s lips pressed together in a thin, tired smile. “Sometimes.” She took another sip of wine. “And sometimes, it’s just… time.”
— — —
Meanwhile, Steve was having a drink with Mr. Jefferson, who seemed relaxed but ever so slightly calculating—like a man who never truly let his guard down.
“You seem like a man who appreciates the details,” Mr. Jefferson remarked, swirling the amber liquid in his glass.
Steve gave a polite nod. “I try to be.”
Mr. Jefferson smirked. “Good. I respect that.” He set his glass down and adjusted his cuffs. “Actually, I think there’s something you might find interesting—some files I keep in my study. Would you care to take a look?”
Steve met his gaze evenly. “Lead the way.”
— — —
A couple hours later, you tapped your wine glass three times and gave Steve a look—he’d returned recently from looking at the files with Mr. Jefferson—and then walked to the resting room. A moment later, Steve excused himself, and joined you in the resting room, closing the door behind him. “Oh my God, she hates her husband!” you whispered to Steve. His eyes widened. “She told me a bunch of stuff,” you whispered. “Like the vault in—”
“The vault in Brooklyn!” Steve whisper shouted.
You grinned. “He was talking to you, too?”
“Well, he’s kind of drunk now, but I got to see a bunch of files. I memorized the code he put in,” Steve said, keeping his voice down still.
“Oh my God!” you whisper shouted back. Then you heard footsteps approaching, and someone was about to open the door. Shit. What if they found out what you and Steve were doing here? Suddenly, Steve cupped your face in his hands and kissed you. You were shocked but quickly fell into it, and then the door opened.
A man walked in. “Oh, sorry, guys. I’ll just… leave you alone.” And he left.
You turned to look back at Steve. He looked nervous. “I’m sorry, it was the first thing I came up with and—”
Before you could rethink your decision, you cupped his face with your hands and pulled him back to you, kissing him again. He immediately started kissing you back, his hands finding your waist and barely holding you there. He was tentative, careful. When you broke away, you said softly, “we should probably, uh, go back to work.”
Steve shrugged with a slight playful smile. “Eh. He’s drunk off his mind anyway.”
You smiled and he pulled you back, kissing you again. “So…” you said a moment later. “Should we go home…?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, looking at you affectionately. “And maybe…maybe I can take you on a real date tomorrow…?”
You grinned. “Yes.”

What do you think about Lily’s origins? We know she’s from Cokeworth but unlike Severus her family isn’t mentioned to be stuck in poverty. I still believe she comes from a working class household and money —for me— has to be the only logical reason she married James.
I think she came from a working-class family, but not a poor one. There's a difference between not being rich or middle class and actually being poor. Severus was poor; Lily wasn't. The Evanses probably couldn't afford to go on holiday every year, but they could afford to provide their daughters with the basics, keep a roof over their heads, and pay their bills at the end of the month, which is a far cry from living in absolute poverty. I imagine they were also a fairly traditional family. Both Lily and Petunia chose very traditional lifestyles: they both married men who offered them financial and social security, they both did so at a young age, and they both became mothers while still barely out of adolescence.
That’s not the mindset of a family with real ambitions for their daughters, the kind who want to see them study, build careers, become independent. That’s the mindset of traditional parents who raised their daughters to find husbands and live lives based on old-fashioned gender roles. For example, my mum is from the same generation as Lily and Petunia. My grandparents didn’t go to university, and my grandmother was a housewife, but they spent their lives saving up so they could one day send their children to university. They insisted that my mum and her siblings get an education, regardless of gender, because that was a way to climb the social ladder and have a better life in the future.
I don’t see the Evanses doing the same, because neither of their daughters seemed interested in being self-sufficient. The moment they had the chance, they found partners who were economically above them and chose to become mothers and wives before they’d even had the chance to grow up and discover who they were — especially as women. I think the Evanses must have been quite conservative in that regard, and passed those values on to their daughters. I imagine it was the father who worked and the mother who stayed at home.
I also believe they had aspirations of upward mobility, because Petunia makes a rather classist comment about Severus the first time they meet, and at that point, Petunia is just a child. Children aren’t classist or dismissive by nature, not unless they’ve been taught to be. Children repeat what they hear at home and imitate their parents’ attitudes. So if Petunia behaved that way, it’s because she’d seen it at home.
I picture the Evanses as the kind of working-class people who would’ve been looked down on by anyone of higher social standing, but who themselves looked down on those just beneath them. That kind of dissonance — the desire to feel some form of social power despite not having any — leads people to assert that power by being dismissive toward those who are even lower on the social scale. And that would explain a lot of Petunia’s behaviour later in life. her airs, her pretentiousness, and why she ended up so compatible with Vernon.
It would also explain why Lily didn’t seem to take issue with James’s clearly classist behaviour, and why she was comfortable with someone like him.

Marauders
🔮 Lily Evans 🔮 Let me tell you! Drawing Lily was the biggest pleasure. I love her. I wanted to bring out as much of her personality as I could. Because this is just the sweetest, most considerate person you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. But cross her and you will be very sorry. I'm looking at you, Ol' Voldy... Lily, to me, is the original female icon in the Potter universe. She was the brightest witch in her year and she stayed unapologetically herself, always. And the best part, I think, is that she kept James pining for her for literal years before she considered him worth her time. I mean, talk about knowing your own worth. James had to do work to get with Lily. I just can't even- that's the best thing. I can even accept her friendship with Severus Snape. I understand why she was his friend. He was the first person to open up the world of magic to her. He was someone she could go to with her problems at home; when Petunia was being a little bitch. It's difficult to let a friendship like that go. But in the end, she did. She chose her own worth over an old friend who no longer deserved her kindness. That, to me, is really brave. So yeah, enjoy Lily. I will definitely draw her again :) I love you guys <3

The Unexpected
This is a new story that I am copying from Wattpad. It’s not finished yet so when I get to the last chapter, I have on Wattpad I will do my best to continue I’m working on it. Been struggling lately.
Chapter 1
Warnings: none really. Mention of alcohol and no intimacy. If I forgotten to mention something I'm sorry.
Sofia and her husband Phillip lived in Boston. They had been married for four years. Phillip had been Sofia’s first love. She knew he loved her, but things were hard. They didn’t have much of a sex life. They had always struggled. They were each other’s first and Phillip often got frustrated and so he gave up quickly and never wanted to do it. Sofia longed for a baby but was at the point of thinking it was never going to happen. Adoption was too expensive, and she didn’t want to foster. She knew she couldn’t handle it if she had to give it up. She loved reading. She didn’t watch much TV. She was a big kid and loved Disney and kids’ books. She ran a kid’s bookstore in town. There was a story hour every day or at least once a week. Her mom had left it to her. Her best friend Cassie worked there with her. That’s where she spent most of her time. Phillip was a photographer, so he stayed busy.
One afternoon in March, Sofia and Cassie were eating lunch at the local café.
“So still no luck with Phillip?”
“No! It’s frustrating. I feel like the bad guy always having to ask for it. He should be asking me for it.”
“And you’re sure he’s not cheating on you?”
“Yes. I know he loves me. He does small things. He can be so sweet. He just doesn’t like to cuddle much and gets frustrated when we try to get intimate.”
“Have you tried doing things for him? Getting him turned on?”
“A little, but I’m a little scared to.”
“Why? You love him, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then you shouldn’t be scared.”
“I know it’s just hard. He doesn’t often give me a chance. He goes to bed so early. He is always tried.”
“Mm sounds like there is something else going on. I have said before he needs to go the doctor.”
“Yes, but he won’t. He hates doctors. I have tried to get him to go but he won’t.”
“Sorry Sof. I don’t know what to tell you. I guess you will just have a live with a sexless marriage.”
Sofia frowned. “Yeah.”
“I know you really want kids.”
“Yeah.”
“Why don’t we go out Saturday? Get your mind off everything?”
“I don’t know.”
“Oh, come on. It will fun.”
“Alright.”
“Great. We can leave at 7:30 that will give you time to get cleaned up after work.”
“We close at 6:00. I don’t’ get home till 6:30, sometimes 6:15. You know how long it takes me to get ready.”
“Alright, we can close early then. We will close at 5:30. How is that?”
“Fine.”
“I will come pick you up. Wear something sexy.”
Sofia laughs. “Alright will do.”
“I guess we should get back to the store.” Cassie says.
“Yeah.”
The girls walked back to the store which was only a few buildings down. Sofia’s phone went off. She pulled it out of her purse. She saw she had a text from Phillip.
Phillip-I will be late tonight. I will grab something while I’m out. See you later love you
Sofia-Okay will see you later. Love you too. 😘
“Was that Phillip? “
“Yep.”
“What did he say?”
“He will be home late and will grab something to eat while he’s out.”
“Oh. He does that a lot doesn’t he?”
“Yes. He’s been getting lots of clients. Lots of people wanting pictures.”
“I still think he’s…”
“Cas, he’s not cheating!”
“How do you know that? He’s been texting you a lot lately telling you he will be home late.”
“Because I know him, and I trust him. He’s not!” “Alright, alright fine. Well since he will be home late how about I come over and make dinner?”
“Sounds great.”
“We can watch Disney movies.”
Sofia smiled. “Sure.”
The girls headed back to the shop and stayed busy till time to close up at 6:00.
“Do I need to go the store?”
Cassie asked as she moved the open sign to closed.
“Well, that depends on what you want to make.”
“I was thinking lasagna.”
“I have ingredients to make that. I even have toast and salad stuff.”
“Awesome. I’ll meet you at your house.”
“Alright. See ya soon.”
Sofia grabbed her stuff and headed to her car. She drove fifteen minutes to her house. She was greeted by her golden retriever dog named Shadow.
“Hey boy! Hang on I’ll feed you and let you out.”
She put her stuff in her room then poured food in his bowl. It wasn’t long till he devoured it.
“Wow boy. Were you that hungry?”
He barked.
“Alright come on I’ll let you outside.”
Shadow followed her to the back door. Sofia slid the door open, and Shadow ran outside to the backyard.
Just then there was a knock on the door.
“It’s open!”
Cassie walked in carrying some bags.
“What do you have?” Sofia asked, turning towards her.
“I got stuff to make sundaes after dinner.”
“Oh cool. Yeah. I don’t have any Ice Cream. Phillip ate the last of it the other night.”
Cassie put the stuff in the freezer and the fridge then the girls got the stuff out for the lasagna.
“If you want to make the bread I will work on the lasagna.” Cassie says.
“Alright.”
The girls worked for the next few minutes. Sofia buttered the toast, put some cheese and garlic on it then set it aside. Cassie worked on the lasagna. She put it in the oven.
“When it only has 15 minutes, we can put the toast in.” Cassie said setting the timer on her phone.
“Why don’ we watch a movie while we wait?”
“Sure. You pick the first one.” Cassie said.
Sofia headed to the cabinet where she had her Disney movies and grabbed sleeping beauty.
“How about this one first?” she asked, holding it up.
“Good choice.”
Sofia put it in, and the girls sat on the couch. The girls watched the movie. Halfway through Cassie’s phone went off. Sofia had gotten up when the lasagna had only 15 minutes left to put the toast in. Cassie paused the movie and got the lasagna and toast out of the oven. She cuts it and grabs plates from the cabinet and starts putting it on plates. She was putting bread on the plates when Sofia walked into the kitchen.
“I will get the salad stuff.”
“Oh, I forgot about that.”
Sofia got the salad bag and all the stuff for the salad and set it on the counter. Cassie grabbed the bowls. They fix their salad and get their bottles of water then head back to the couch. They un paused their movie. When the movie was over Cassie picked the next movie. Cinderella. Just as she puts it in, she asked, “Do you have any drinks?”
“Do you have any drinks?”
“I have water and soft drinks.”
“Noting stronger, like beer or wine?”
“Cas, you know I don’t drink.”
“You do every once in a while, and I know Phillip does.” “Yes he does and every once in a while, I do, yes, but…” Sofia pauses.
“I think I do have some wine.” “Oh perfect.”
Sofia got up and headed over to the cabinet near the dining room table. She got out a bottle of wine.
“I don’t think Phillip will mind if we open it.”
Cassie came into the kitchen with Sofia. She helped her open the bottle and Sofia poured it into a glass. Cassie grabbed the bottle. They headed back to the couch and watched the movie and drank wine. By the time the movie was over Sofia had, had 2 glasses of wine and was already a little tipsy. She didn’t drink much so she has a low tolerance. While Cassie was still sober. The bottle was empty.
“So, what’s next?” Sofia asked.
“You pick. It’s your turn.”
“Right.”
Sofia got up and staggered a little. She almost fell back on the couch.
“You, okay?”
“Yep.” She said popping the p.
She headed to her cabinet and looked through the movies.
“Oo how about this?” she asked pulling out Little Mermaid
“Yes!”
Sofia put it in and headed back to the couch.
“Oh, you want Ice cream before we start?”
“Sure. And I think there is beer in the fridge.”
“That’s Phillips though, right?”
“Yeah, but he won’t care go ahead if you want.”
“Are you going to get one?”
“I don’t like beer.”
“Right.”
Cassie opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of beer, and all the toppings then grabbed Ice cream from the freezer. They fixed their Ice cream sundaes then headed back to the couch. They watched The Little Mermaid and ate their ice cream. Cassie drank her beer.
They watched another movie and then saw it was late.
“Why don’t you stay the night?” Sofia suggested.
“Okay. I actually have a bag of stuff in the car. I had packed it when I was supposed to stay with my sister but then the plans changed, and she had to cancel.”
“Oh okay.”
“I’ll grab it.”
Cassie headed out to her car and came back carrying a bag and 2 bottles of wine.
“I forgot I had these in my car.”
“I can’t drink anymore. I finally got sober.”
“Well do you care if I do?”
“No, but just don’t get drunk.” Sofia smiled.
“I won’t. It takes me a while before I get drunk. And I will have one more glass maybe two promise.”
“Alright.”
The next movie the girls watched was Lady and Tramp. They spent the rest of the night watching Disney movies. They ended up falling asleep on the couch. Neither one of them heard the door open. Phillip walked in and saw the girls asleep on the couch. He just shook his head when he saw the movie Snow White playing. He turned off the tv and headed to the bedroom. It was 3 am. The next morning Sofia woke up and saw the Tv was off. She didn’t remember turning it off. She saw Cassie asleep on the couch. She realized she never heard Phillip come home either. She got up and headed into the bedroom. She saw he is in the bed sound asleep.
“I wonder what time he got home.” She thought to herself.
She left and headed to the kitchen, she decided to make pancakes. She also made some bacon. Just as she flipped the first few pancakes Cassie walked into the kitchen.
“Good morning.” Sofia said.
“Morning.”
“Thought I would make us some breakfast.”
“Sounds good. Did Phillip come home?”
“Yeah, but I never heard him.”
“I didn’t either.”
“He is sound asleep.”
“Why don’t we ride together to work?” Cassie asked.
“Sure.”
“I can drive.”
“Alright.”
Sofia had just taken up the pancakes and bacon when Phillip walked into the kitchen.
“Morning babe.” Sofia said.
“Morning. I thought I smelled something good.”
“Fix yourself a plate. I made plenty.”
“Thanks, but I don’t have time. I am meeting a clint in 15 minutes. I need to run.” He said as he grabbed a piece of bacon.
“Oh okay. Will you be home late again?”
“I shouldn’t be.” He said as he kissed her head.
“Okay I love you.”
“Love you too. See you later.”
He left. Cassie looked at Sofia and frowned.
“What?”
“Is he always that way?”
“Usually yeah.”
“He never talks to you or kisses you, or spends any time with you?”
“He does kiss me, but yeah. That’s the way it is.”
“That’s sad.”
“Yeah.”
The girls finished breakfast and got ready then headed to the store.
The day went by fast. The girls had the story hour and closed the store at the end of the day. Cassie took Sofia home.
“I’ll see you tomorrow. Hope you have a goodnight.”
“You too. Thanks.”
Sofia went inside and put her stuff up. It was 6:20. She took a seat on the couch and read her book. She had been reading for an hour when the door opened, and Phillip came in and walked to the couch.
“Hey babe.”
“Have you fixed dinner?”
“I thought we could have leftovers. Cassie and I had lasagna last night and there is plenty left.”
“Oh, okay.”
“I can heat it up.”
“Okay. I am going to take a shower. I will be back.” Phillip then left the room.
Sofia heated up some lasagna and just as she was putting it on plates Phillip walked into the kitchen. He sat at the island.
“What would you like to drink?” Sofia asked, setting the plate in front of him with a fork.
“Beer.”
Sofia grabs one from the fridge. “Would you like a salad or a piece of toast? I fixed toast last night.”
“Toast would be great.”
Sofia put a piece of toast in the toaster to warm it up.
Then when it was done, she put it on his plate and one on hers and sat down next to him.
“How was your day?” Sofia asked.
“It was okay. It was busy.”
“I am glad you have a lot of people taking pics. I just hate I never see you.”
“Yeah.”
Phillip finished and put his dishes in the dishwasher.
“I’m heading to bed. I’m tired.”
“Okay babe. I’ll be there soon.”
Philip left the room and Sofia cleaned up the kitchen and then washed her face and brushed her teeth. She changed into her pjs then climbed into bed. She snuggled up next to Phillip with her head on his chest.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m snuggling up next to you.”
“Not tonight, Sof.”
He pushed her off and rolled over and faced away from her.
“Phillip.”
“What?”
“I…never mind.” Sofia rolled over and faced the other way with her back to him. She cried softly. The next morning when Sofia woke up Phillip was not in bed. She got up and headed into the kitchen thinking he would be there, but he wasn’t. She looked outside and saw his car was gone. She sighed and got her some breakfast and got a shower and got ready then headed to the store. She opened, turned on the lights and set a few things up. She had just put out the books for story hour when Cassie walked in.
“Morning Sof.”
“Morning.”
“How are you?”
“Okay.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Phillip was so cold last night.”
“What do you mean?”
“He hardly wanted to talk. I tried, then when I got in bed and tried to snuggle up with him, he said not tonight Sof and pushed me away and rolled over away from me. Then his morning when I got up, he was already gone.”
“I’m sorry. I really think he might be…”
“No. Don’t say it. He’s not. I know he’s not.”
“Why don’t we go to his studio? We won’t have anyone for several hours.”
“I don’t know.”
“Come on. Let’s go check.”
“Fine.”
“I’ll drive.”
They got into Cassie’s car and drove the 10 minutes to the studio. Cassie parked and they got out. They saw Phillip at his desk on the computer through the window.
“Alright I was right. He’s at work. Let’s go.” She started to head back to the car.
“Wait, let’s go talk to him.”
“What! No Cass. I don’t want to disturb him.”
“Sof, he’s your husband.”
“But he doesn’t like being disturbed at work.”
“Just come on.” Cassie grabbed her hand and headed inside. Phillip looked up when the girls walked in.
“Sof what are you doing here?”
“I…I came to see you. I didn’t get to tell you bye this morning. You had left when I got up.”
“Yeah, I had some editing to do before my first clint arrived.”
“Oh. Will you be home late tonight?”
“Probably. It will be a busy day. I have a lot of editing to do. I work better here than at home.”
“Oh okay. I…”
Phillip kept looking at his computer then looked at her.
“Is there something else you need?”
“No.”
“Alright well I need to get back to work.”
“Okay. I love you. Hope you have a good day.”
“Love you too.” He said looking back at his computer.
Sofia thought about walking over and kissing him but decided not to. She and Cassie left and headed back to the store.
“I see what you mean.”
“Yeah. I mean he said he loved me, but…it just seems…I don’t know. I just don’t feel like he does at times.”
“I know. I’m sorry you’re going through this. You don’t deserve this. You deserve someone who will treat you better. Like a princess.”
Sofia didn’t say anything. They reached the store and when they got inside five minutes later a customer came in.
The day went by fast. The next few days went by fast too. Then it was Friday. The girls were closing the store.
“I’ll see you tomorrow. Don’t forget we are going out tomorrow after work.”
“Yeah. We are still closing early, right?”
“Yep.”
“Alright night.”
Sofia headed home. When she opened the door Shadow greeted her.
“Hey boy!”
He then ran to the couch and jumped on it. Sofia then saw Phillip on the couch with his lap top.
“Hey babe. I didn’t expect you home yet.” Sofia said as she walked toward the couch.
“I didn’t have many clients today, so I decided to close up early.”
“Oh, well I can fix dinner and maybe we can watch a movie.”
“I can’t Sof. I have a lot of pictures to edit. I have to get them done by Sunday.”
“Oh. Well, what would you like for dinner?”
“Doesn’t matter. Whatever you fix will be fine.”
Sofia headed into the kitchen. After looking through the cabinets she decided to make stir fry. After it was done, she put it on plates and carried it into the living room.
“Here you go.”
“Just set it down on the table. I will eat in a minute. I want to finish editing this picture.”
“Do you want a beer?”
“I already have one.” He pointed to the bottle of beer on the table.
She set her plate down then grabbed herself a glass of water then sits beside him on the couch.
“I probably won’t be home tomorrow till late. Well, I’ll be home then leaving.” Sofia said.
“Where are you going?”
“Cassie and I are going out.”
“Oh okay. Well hope you have fun.” He said setting his laptop down and picked up his plate.
“Yeah. I’m sure we will.”
“Will you call me along? Maybe when you’re on your way home?”
“Yes, I can. Why?”
“Because I want to make sure you okay. You know I worry about you.” He said looking at her.
“You do?”
“Of course, I do. Sof you’re my wife and I love you.”
“I love you too Phillip. It just feels like at time you don’t.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because you’re always busy. You never want to cuddle you hardly kiss me.”
“Sof. I’m sorry. I can’t help staying busy. I have a lot of clients and so I have a lot of pictures to edit. But of course, I love you and you know I’m not a big cuddler.”
“I know but…”
“Sof. I love you. I’m sorry I don’t always show it.”
Sofia set her plate down and moved closer to Phillip and laid her head on his shoulder. He kissed her head.
“I just want you, Phillip. I want to be with you.”
“You are with me. I’m not going anywhere.”
Sofia looked up at him.
“Phillip please.”
“Please what?”
“I want you.”
“Sof, I’m right here next to you.”
Sofia sat up a little and kissed his cheek then placed kisses on his neck.
“Oh…Sof no. I can’t.” He said pulling away.
“Why? You never want me. Is there something wrong with me?”
“No of course not. I just…you know what happens when we do. I can never…and…”
“But Phillip we have to try. We can’t just…”
“Sof I just can’t! I’m sorry. I need to finish these pics.” He got up and left the room carrying is lap top. He turned “I will probably be late getting in bed. Don’t wait up.”
Then he left the room. Sofia laid down on the couch and cried.
The next morning, she was still asleep on the couch. She hadn’t heard Phillip leave. She got ready and then ate a quick breakfast then headed to the store. She was just opening up when Cassie walked up.
“Morning Sof.”
“Morning.” She grumbled.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” She said walking in and turning on the lights.
“Sof, talk to me. What’s wrong?”
Sofia told her about last night and all Phillip said and he acted.
“Oh Sof, I’m sorry. I really hate your going through this. We will have fun tonight. You can get your mind off everything.”
“Yeah.”
The girls set up the store for the day and it wasn’t long till customers walked in. The girls stayed busy all day. They barely had time to eat lunch. Cassie ended up going to the café a few blocks down and grabbed their lunch and took it back. By the time the last customer left around 5:35 Cassie quickly put up the closed sign so no one else would come in.
“Alright I will pick you up at 7:00.”
“Okay see you soon.” Sofia said, locking up.
“Don’t forget wear something sexy.”
Sofia nodded and headed to her car.

Our Little Miracle X Dad Chris Evans (Requested)
MasterList
Marvel MasterList
Trigger warning: Miscarriage
I always imagined marriage would be the start of everything beautiful. And it was. It is.
Being married to Chris is still the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
But what I didn’t imagine what no one warns you about is the aching heartbreak that can follow when dreams don't come as easily as you thought they would.
We’d been trying for a baby almost since our wedding day. Both of us so ready, so sure, so full of love.
And then... the losses started.
First one. Then another. And another.
Three little heartbreaks. Three tiny hopes gone before they even had a chance.
We hadn’t told anyone. Not even our families.
It felt too raw, too personal. Too much like we were carrying this secret grief around, stitched into the seams of our clothes.
Chris had been my rock through all of it even when I knew he was breaking too. Even when I caught him crying in the shower, thinking I couldn't hear.
We leaned on each other. We held each other up when the world felt like it was crumbling.
But lately... lately, it had been harder to pretend we were okay.
Especially after the rumours started.
I wasn’t sure who had said something, but somehow, the world found out.
Suddenly, there were headlines. 'Chris Evans’ Wife Suffers Third Tragic Miscarriage.' 'Is Chris Evans Reconsidering Fatherhood?'
And worse the comments.
So cruel. So thoughtless.
Speculating about my body, about my worth as a woman. Blaming me. Pitying me.
It made me feel sick.
Chris tried to shield me from it all deleted apps off my phone, filtered search results, wrapped his arms around me whenever I spiralled.
But it still seeped in. Still stained the corners of our happiness.
We stopped going out as much. Stopped answering calls. Just... tried to survive.
I found out I was pregnant again on a Wednesday morning.
It was early too early, really and I almost didn’t test at all.
But something in me... I don't know. I just had to know.
When the two lines appeared, faint but there, I sat down on the bathroom floor, heart hammering so loud I thought I might pass out.
Chris found me like that clutching the test, tears in my eyes.
He knelt down immediately, worry etched into every line of his face.
"What is it, baby? What’s wrong?"
I held up the stick with trembling hands.
His eyes widened. His mouth fell open slightly.
And then so softly, like he was afraid to scare it away he smiled.
"Another chance," he whispered, pulling me into his arms.
We held each other on the cold tile floor, afraid to say the word aloud. Afraid to hope too much.
Neither of us said it. But we both felt it.
What if it happens again?
The next few weeks were torture.
Every twinge, every cramp, every minor symptom sent me into a spiral.
Chris came to every appointment, holding my hand so tight I thought he might break it.
We barely told anyone. Just my doctor. Just us.
It felt too fragile to share.
I started talking to the baby in whispers at night when Chris was asleep.
Please stay. Please be our miracle.
Chris caught me once sitting in the nursery we hadn't dared touch for months whispering into the dark.
He didn’t say anything.
Just crossed the room, knelt down, and put his head gently against my stomach.
Listening.
Praying.
Hoping.
The 12-week scan approached like a looming mountain.
I barely slept the night before, tossing and turning, clutching Chris’s T-shirt against my face for comfort.
He didn’t sleep much either I could tell. He kept pulling me closer, kissing my forehead, murmuring little things he probably didn’t even realise he was saying.
"We’re okay."
"We’re strong."
"I love you, I love you, I love you."
The next morning, we drove to the clinic in almost total silence, holding hands so tightly our knuckles went white.
I lay back on the exam table, heart in my throat, watching the screen like it held our whole future.
And then... There it was.
A heartbeat.
Strong. Steady.
Our baby.
Healthy.
Alive.
Tears streamed down my face.Chris dropped his forehead to my hand, his shoulders shaking.
"You’re doing amazing," the doctor said, smiling gently. "Everything looks perfect. You’ve passed the point we usually worry about miscarriage. Congratulations."
I let out a broken, gasping laugh.
We had made it. We had made it.
Chris kissed me fiercely, tears wetting both our faces.
"I’m so proud of you," he whispered. "I’m so proud of you, baby."
We left the clinic floating on air, still clinging to each other like if we let go, we might wake up and realise it wasn’t real.
But it was.
It was.
That night, we sat in the nursery the nursery we had avoided for so long and started planning again.
We picked out paint colours. Talked about names.
Chris kept rubbing my belly absent-mindedly, like he couldn’t help himself.
At one point, I caught him whispering against my skin.
"I can't wait to meet you, little one," he said softly. "We’ve waited so long for you."
I burst into tears again, but this time they were happy ones.
Pure, soul-deep joy.
Chris panicked at first, thinking something was wrong, but when I explained, he just laughed and held me closer.
"I love you so much," I told him, burying my face in his neck.
"I love you more," he said, rocking us gently. "You’re so strong, baby. Stronger than you know."
Of course, the world found out eventually.
There were headlines again 'Chris Evans and Wife Expecting Rainbow Baby!'
But this time, it didn’t hurt.
This time, it didn’t matter.
We had our miracle.
Nothing else could touch that.
People would always talk. Always speculate. Always poke their noses into places they didn’t belong.
But inside our little bubble, inside our home, it was just us.
Me, Chris, and the tiny heartbeat growing stronger every day.
One night, much later, I woke up to find Chris talking softly to my belly again.
Telling our baby stories. Promising them the world.
He looked up when he saw me watching, and smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry," he whispered. "I just... I can’t believe it’s real."
I reached out, threading my fingers through his messy hair.
"It’s real," I whispered back. "They’re real. And they’re ours."
He kissed my bump tenderly, then kissed me.
Slow and deep and full of everything we couldn’t say out loud.
Thank you. I’m sorry. I love you. I’m scared. I’m so, so happy.
All of it, wrapped into one perfect, aching kiss.
When we finally pulled apart, he rested his forehead against mine, his hand cradling my belly protectively.
"I’ll spend the rest of my life loving both of you," he said hoarsely. "I promise."
I smiled through the tears.
"We already know," I whispered.
