making my peace with how lyra was characterised in the show vs the books because so much of it relies on her age and even dafne keen being only one year older than lyra when filming set her up to portray a different character from the very beginning. it doesn't seem like a huge difference but lyra being a child and not a teenager is of fundamental importance to her path in the books so it's inevitable that she was written more like a teenager in the show (and you can't stop child actors from ageing, you can only adapt the writing and directing to match how they mature). the show wrote lyra's arc in accordance with her maturing to the age of around 16, so they chose to have her grow out of her habit of lying and instead wield the power of truth to further her on her journey. it was a different journey from the books, but it got her to the same place: saving her friend and countless others with the power of storytelling and a silvertongue

Pokémon Timeskip Series: Champion Dawn 🌸❄️

Known as Sinnoh’s Ice Queen, Dawn is best known for her intimidating yet caring nature. She’s fierce and calculating, never leaving any room for error especially when it comes to battling. On her off days you can find her in the contest hall, a hobby she picked up from her mother, or in the Battle Frontier/Pokémon Lab to catch up with her best friends. It is said she was recently engaged to a certain johto boy (Ethan. It’s Ethan.) however they will not publicly revealed their plans for the wedding as of yet

#OCkissWeek2025 Day 2 — First

Characters: Kit (mine) and Lyra (@the-soupiest-artist)

This is actually a redraw - the original piece was done back in 2019/2020 and I'm glad to say my skills have definitely improved!

Kit and Lyra are one of those timeless pairings, in my opinion. Soup and I have put them in so many AU's at this point that it'd make your head dizzy, but the chemistry never fails between the two of them. They are the day and night to each other, complimentary, one incomplete without the other - always brightest together.

This story is where their journey started - my personal favourite - the Greaser AU.

He was a wild and reckless hoodlum, getting into all sorts of trouble, shunned by the society that made him. Too smart to waste his life away on the streets, but who was going to help someone like him? His parents? Hah! His mom was ten years dead and his dad was a deadbeat. No, he was on his own - hell, he liked it that way! (a lie)

She was a French transfer student from a well off family, brought up with privilege, support and love most of all. A sweet, kind and beautiful girl that loved to read and dance, carrying a wonder in her sparkling eyes. The world was her oyster and she need only ask for whatever she desired. She never did, mind you, but she could.

They couldn't be more different.

But they still found ground to stand on together. He was every joy and experience she never had - She was the understanding and safety he never knew. They challenged each other, but always came out better afterwards.

They fell in love. Of course they fell in love.

It started here, and so many days before and so many days after.

This kiss was simply the First.

Tumblr Hiatus

I will be taking a hiatus from tumbl until the beginning of January. I have a lot of stuff going on IRL, and tumblr (the website) is tumblring hard and it’s making me feel extremely discourged to the point of where I’m actually debating if I’ll continue writing, or being as active as I usually am, on this blog in the future.

I do have a fic in the works that will be posted in December, and with some luck maybe a couple of others, and while I’m on my hiatus I will probably work on the requests in my inbox, and depending on how I feel in January…I will either open requests again, or I’ll only be a lurker here that quietly supports my friends.

what really gets me about the phrase "tell them stories" is that what humanised the harpies were childhood memories, of the days lyra and roger spent together inside an oxford college and on top of its roof. it wasn't anything grand and extraordinary (the word lyra's parents kept insisting on her) but just the happiness of being with an old friend. lyra's journey to the land of the dead was rather extraordinary, but only the simplest of stories brought her home. i think there's an important message there that while you can choose to live a life full of danger and adventure, the most mundane moments such as your friend baking you a birthday cake or a time where you stayed out in the sun until you burnt can create a life worth telling stories about... only emphasised by the serpent sharing the simple memory of falling in love

✨GAMES UNTOLD THEORY✨

Alright so I have a theory about what the last chapter “Pain At The Right Gun” of Games Untold is about.

First of all, I’ve heard some people think that it may contain a short story about Lyra because there is a Calla Lilly on the front cover of the book and that the story might be about her father. However I don’t really think this is going to be the case because I think this is going to be the last book that focuses more on the Hawthorne family.

Furthermore, if you you were to anagram “Pain At The Right Gun” you would see that it can be rearranged to make “That Night In Prague.” Which makes me think that we might get Jameson’s pov about what happened when he met his grandmother Alice.

Why I think this is because in the few chapters of “That Night In Prague” we only seem to have Avery’s pov, which I think is a little odd since I feel like the major event that took place in Prague was Jameson meeting Alice. Although, we did only got like six chapters of “That Night In Prague” so I may be wrong there might be Jamesons pov in that story as well.

What I think might be in the “Pain At The Right Gun”story is Jameson’s pov about whatever game he solved that lead to him finding his grandmother who warns him not to say a word about her being alive. In that time I feel like she will shed some light or drop a hint about Lyra, her father’s death, or what significance Calla Lilly’s hold. I feel like this would be a perfect mysterious cliffhanger for the book to end on, which will then hopefully be resolved in Glorious Rivals.

I really don’t know if I’m right about this or if this makes any sense whatsoever p.s. I wrote this at like 4:00am. Anyway I just wanted to ramble about this theory and see what other people think. Also if you have any other theory’s let me know in the comments, I’m very interested.

mhm yeah.. things aren't looking good for Lance and Esteban. I'm clinging to the thought that this is just practice but both Haas and Aston Martin are the top 5 slowest it is just concerning. HOPEFULLY quali and race day prove my worry wrong.
