I think the reason the ending of His Dark Materials didn't sit well with me is that it hits too close to home. Lyra loses her "God-given" ability to read the alethiometer- the thing that made her special-, on her path to growing up, and is expected to spend the rest of her life learning how to do it the way others do.

I was a gifted child, who lost their great memory and quick mind during teens, and kept hearing I just have to make myself learn the way others do no matter how little it works for me.

Sorry, but no, that's bullshit. I want my information-absorbing skills back!

Spectacular rant

What is it with people making their newest books/experts much more explicit than they used to be?

I've seen a lot of people complain about this, but Night in Prague was not the mystery/adventure we were promised, it was practically just non-explicit smut with a side of riddles and half an answer.

And now Spectacular?

Scarlett and Julian were so cute...and Tella genuinely made me want to throw the book at a wall. I already hated her previously, but at least she had a few redeeming features back then. Oh, by the way, could you perhaps move the New Year back a few days? I haven't picked out the right present for my negligent boyfriend who doesn't even like this holiday ｡⁠◕⁠‿⁠‿⁠◕⁠｡

And then whatever the actual hell happened with the kidnapping thing? It was so confusing to read, and it had such strange themes?

Spoiler in case anybody hasn't read it, but either way it's not worth reading.

It starts with Tella being drugged, then handed a revealing outfit while surrounded by a bunch of clueless and brainwashed girls, who she doesn't even try to help.

And then they're led one by one into some kind of auction or audition where they basically have to act like a stripper.

Tella's tied up and blindfolded where she's led into a room with the guy who arranged it, and by the way she has no idea who this is, and at some point she's straddling him and being very intimate, and also did I mention she doesn't know who he is at all besides the fact that he had her kidnapped and a bunch of girls acting as prostitutes?

And then she finds out it was, in fact, Legend who did all of the above, but oh, it's okay, because it's my handsome and strong boyfriend who just violated me in multiple different ways loves me.

This is not the Caraval I remember?

Lyra!!  Here is some more loving hours! Once again this was such a great read, your writing is very atmospheric and I’m always sucked into the world like I’m standing right there with the characters. It was so interesting to read Warriors perspective of Hyrule’s world. It’s such a big contrast to Hyrule’s perspective of things that they take for granted versus how excited the Traveler gets for something so normal in their respective lands. So when it came down to this particular scene, you can just feel the melancholy behind the characters for the loss, yet how awe inspiring and beautiful it was altogether. I love it!

Now you guys can send stuff to the characters of yokel godneu now, but they are some rules for it, all other stuff will be moved to core!tami’s dumb ask disposal service.

Rule number 1: don’t send anything that will harm them.

Rule number 2: you can not send trolls or anything useless.

Rule number 3: treats and gifts that aren’t that larger are allowed.

Rule number 4: if it’s a character’s birthday, Halloween, and Christmas, it will be a special day where you can give bigger gifts, but on Halloween, you cant give them gifts but instead, give them gifts, unless it’s their birthday.

Rule number 5: you can ask for birthdays to know the exact date of their birthday

Rule number 6: only a certain number of gifts can be given out a day, and only a certain number for each individual

Rule number 7: you can ignore these rules in case of the rule of funny, but don’t push it

Also here are some rules about the magic anons.

Rule 1: magic anons can not be repeated on the same character.

Rule 2: magic anons can not harm them physically or get rid of them.

Rule 3: magic anons aren’t permanent, and can only last for around 20 asks maximum.

Rule 4: you can add characters with the magic anon, but they will stay around for as long asked.

Rule 5: as long as the magic anons last for, you can not use a magic anon, and once the magic anon is over, you will have to wait for a couple of asks to do it.

Rule 6: you can ignore all but the time limit rule, if you want, but only if it’s funny.
