So I'm replaying the first act, and there's some dialogue in the scene in chapter one where Finn meets Luther. Ludmilla says, "This is the first time our order has encountered a Crestbearer," but we know from the recent events that Rody (the previous Crestbearer and Finn's dad) worked with the Red Dragon Knights and was assigned missions by Luther himself.
So what I'm saying is, Luther definitely covered up Rody's involvement with the last Crestbearer. Maybe it's because he wanted the Knights to seem stronger and to take the credit for fighting off the monsters without the power of the crest, or maybe he didn't want his order to be seen as incompetent because the Crimson Crestbearer died during his fight with the Eternal?

DBH fic writers and readers on AO3 be like.
DON'T KILL ME.... I love love love good Connor fics too. I am very self-aware. His story is excellent and, well, he arguably "becomes" human the most. Give me that sweet, sweet fanfic where he tries to have emotions. It's just kind of funny, isn't it?
Alternative version under the cut.
Looking at you, Reed900 enjoyers (including me). Haha

If you had told me after Season 1 that I'd be upset with how they degraded Luther's character into a loser with nothing to his character but to be a joke I'd have not believed you but seeing him lose all complexities and HIS WIFE was actually cringe worthy

i'm not entirely sure what's the best way to phrase this, but it really annoys me when people say things like 'well, this person lived two hundred years ago, they didn't know what they were doing was wrong'. because it's not true!!! i mean, yes, perhaps certain things were more normalised two hundred years ago, but people still knew they were wrong.
but it's also annoying when people expect people in the past to use the terminology and language to refer to minorities that people use today. sorry, but people who lived three hundred years ago will talk like people who lived three hundred years ago. and sometimes that means that they say things that are not suitable now. historical context is always important. it provides a reason for why people acted the way they did, but it is never an excuse

Late diet of wormsposting 🐛🍝 bc i was fighting for my life now ft bad poetry. Full poem below the cut 💀 cw religious trauma and the usual suspects
"Plus Ultra"
Pariah but raised Protestant
I learnt to read the moniker at face value
Raised to place Luther
Revolutionary against institution
On a pedestal
By my fire-and-brimstone preacher
Denouncing the foundations of my being
Draped in priestly black
He is big and brash and bullying
Has a cult following
Bellowing across the pulpit
Whilst I try to block it out
This rebel accused
Is not eloquent or commanding
Like the one I thought I was 500 years ago
Called to defend myself on the stand.
How the tables have turned against us.
Too messy to be 'Holy'
Too obscure to be 'Roman'
Always being told to close my mouth
Hanging open like I have something to say but no words come out
I am the Emperor
A newly licensed adult
Skin and bone in feathered hat and flamboyant fur
I look so small.
The enemy in every retelling
Ugly as sin
Only too easy to cast as boogeyman
Too easy to distance from and turn against
Lord knows what happens to those who sit with the transgressors
Lest this unsightliness might be contagious.
But Charles the Fifth is not the villain in his own story
And this is not how I will go down in my history.
You will nail your theses, but I'll throw them out my door
No portrait can make this identity palatable but I no longer wish to be painted out
I will push further, beyond
I have fought to keep my crown
You will not take away my legitimacy
This intersectional birthright is my God-given blessing
And this empire I have built from ground up is holy
So I'm done weighing all the doubts
I do myself justice
And sentence you heretic on my promised land.

☂️The Umbrella Academy ☂️- a farewell...
Netflix, 2019 - 2024, Steve Blackman and Grabriel Bá
"You might love this show, but the characters are kind of all assholes. But in a good way. Like, you can relate to each and every single one of them - why they are like this and why they do what they do."
This is how my bestie introduced me to the show, resp. pointed me to watching it.
Oh, gurl, does this description fit! To the bit. 100%.
I really enjoyed watching the Hargreeves. This looney baloney patchwork family of superheroes against their will.
True, season 4 maybe didn't resonate the same way with everybody as did the first three seasons. But all in all, this bunch of misfits got a good ending in my humble opinion and my fave Klaus had the honors of saving the best line for the end, and as it turns out, one that resonates so much with how I got to meet them in the first place...
"I love you, guys, but you're all assholes!"
Klaus Hargreeves, s04e06 "End of the Beginning"

My friend: What are you thinking about
In my head: Reginald adopted seven innocent children to raise them so he could sacrifice them in order to get his perfect world. I mean no wonder why he only adopted seven. He probably raised them to be heroes so he could convince them to do his bidding by tricking them into believing that what they were doing was for the greater good. Damn this guy just gets worse and worse every season.
What I say: just some show that I’ve been watching recently

im getting on my soapbox here because i dont talk a lot on my tumblr blog but can the tua fandom just like. stop infantilizing 5? hes not a kid. hes not a teenager. hes an emotionally stunted, PTSD stricken ex-assassin and hes also a senior citizen, not a depressed high schooler.
he has Agency and he is Independent, perhaps more so than is convenient for everyone else. im not really sure where this mentality that 5 needs to constantly be babied by everyone to be pacified comes from, or why yall are so insistent in shoving him into a setting where hes surrounded by high schoolers, or writing him as an angry crybaby kid. hes not those things. he has a short fuse and he gets frustrated with others but hes not what you all keep infantilizinf him as!!!!! leave grandpa alone!!!!!!!!
