been thinking about the "arem was supposed to be richard" arc so much recently bc it really would've hit so hard. like, connie kept saying throughout the early novacom era "wow I sure hope mitch isn't manipulating me and only using me to get information" as if she didn't see the EXACT SAME THING happen between lucy and richard.

Love this peanuts comic strip
I was reading through the complete peanuts 1971-72 and found this wonderful strip.
I like how it shows we have always poked our dogs on the nose, we’ve just called it slightly different stuff. Beep has turned to Boop and i kinda like them both. I think beep is a little bit more violent sounding but hey that’s just me.
I also really like the both how mundane the interaction between snoopy and Lucy is, usually their relationship is much more antagonistic but this is nice.

AiO Thought of the Week
I was telling my sister how technically An Encounter with Mrs. Hooper is Richard's first episode.
My mom who has read the Blackgaard books is like "Yeah, wasn't he robbing old people."
And I'm like, "Yeah."
"He was a creep."
"Yeah."
"He like cornered Lucy in a dark alley."
"No?!?!?"
#This is all paraphrased#I love my mom#She is genuinely interested in the show#She's just not a nerd about it so her memories of things can be surprising#Adventures in Odyssey#AiO#An encounter with Mrs. Hooper#richard maxwell#Lucy Cunningham-Schultz

i wish my Template wasn't from fotf but connie kendall is the template, the mold, the platonic ideal. when blackgaard tells her he's a doctor she responds with these exact words, "oh, i'm sorry, are you into medicine?" are you. into. medicine. ma'am i'm in bisexual love with you
#it's so wild that aio has a handful of such great female characters considering fotf hates women#anyway happy woman day to connie kendall and connie kendall only#that's not true happy woman day to lucy cunningham-schultz also#aio#aster chat#are you into medicine...................................................

I relistened to The Homecoming today and noticed that Lucy says she called Richard's house phone to ask his parents where to find him to talk to him.
Did she already know this information? Did they often call two years ago before she learned he was manipulating her? Did she remember his phone number all that time? Did a part of her still feel fondly enough of him to hold onto that information even though she had been so hurt by him?

I just love that every time Curt describes Lucy he says she has a ‘cute voice’
It’s so sweet and I love it

Since Christmas Time is upon us I thought to post a holiday special more appropriate for the coming season.
vimeo
"It's the Great Paywall, Charlie Brown!"
Once again the greedy assholes have stuck "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" on Apple+.
This cartoon has been a Halloween tradition of mine since it first aired in 1966 on network TV. For decades kids enjoyed this for free.
So it infuriates me that now the only people who can see it have to pay for streaming or the DVD. I can't even afford streaming.
So here it is, the whole thing. Feel free to reblog, download and/or share.

News I guess
the official AiO podcast just did a video podcast on the history of the visual depictions of characters. Being able to hear the different reasons behind the design choices and look at some scraped art was kinda inspiring.
A few notes I wrote while watching: They reused the writer room fist fight from the old tour for visuals. That made me laugh a lot. And we got confirmation that Connie was depicted with green jeans. Wait Gary Locke forgot for a good while he didn't draw Connie with a ponytail! That's so funny. Fair but funny. Oh it's because it wasn't his idea. Checks out. Phil's reaction to Bruce Day Eugene was delightful. I support Giga-wooton lol. Wooton had a mustache in some of the concept art and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Slimming him down was a mistake! Gary was right on this one guys come on! I've been saying this for a while but the social media guy sounds like he's having a blast and he's doing a great job. Empathizing with Gary's hat woes.
Phil: "I think it looks great! 😊"
Gary: "Eh it's alright 🫤"
Lucy is our art rock lol. Yes yes! Do this again! This information would be way more useful with us than Gary's dog!

WIP INTRO: NEON VIOLET
The light-leaks and scratches on the old film flicker over her face, masking her reflective white eyes. The video kicks back and loops. “My name is Nettie Schultz and I have died three times,” she repeats.
Blurb: On the island of Tombedel, no one dies. At least, no one stays dead.
After separating from his wife of over twenty years, London-based private investigator Abe Tannen visits the exclusive medieval island of Tombedel during their Saint Martin’s Day celebrations, but his much-needed vacation takes an unexpected turn when a man is murdered in his hotel: the first person to actually die on the island in over 1,000 years.
With the local law enforcement unprepared to handle a real murder, the investigation falls to Abe, who enlists the help of an eclectic group of ghosts.
When the investigation leads them to begin uncovering the island’s long-buried secrets, Abe and his team find themselves in far more danger than they could have anticipated. After all, there are far worse fates than death.
Setting: Tombedel, a mysterious medieval island off the coast of England. November of 2025, but also 1983 and 1934 and 802 AD and 509 AD.
Genre: Adult, supernatural mystery
Series: 1 of 2
POV: 3rd person present tense, multi-pov
Vibes: glitter-smudged faces, foggy coasts, chainmail under t-shirts, crystal balls, ancient church towers, neon lights, dimly lit labs, tape recorders, ren faires, crumbling castles, rundown pubs, cable-knit sweaters, old magicks.
Soundtrack: Seventeen Going Under - Sam Fender / I'm Set Free - The Velvet Underground / Night Shift - Lucy Dacus / The Body Electric - Hurray for the Riff Raff / Yuri-G - PJ Harvey / My Darling Faye - Songs for Moms / Vampire Empire - Big Thief / The Killing Moon - Echo & the Bunnymen
Word Count: Planning

(Kicks door in) hey can someone in the peanuts fandom write a fic or make a comic about Lucy being genuinely concerned about Charlie during one of their visits out of nowhere please
like, she's usually just making fun of Charlie whenever he comes to her stand, but like,
imagine if she knew something was like, genuinely bad about her friend and went, "...You should go see a doctor, Charlie Brown." in the most caring voice she could provide
oddly specific but it's what the world needs rn
#I'm back on my peanuts shiz#peanuts by schultz#the peanuts gang#the peanuts#peanuts#charlie brown#lucy van pelt#you can see it as ship?#heck I do#but if others see it platonically than that's perfectly fine too#charlie brown x lucy van pelt
