Healing will come for the land, San Francesco says.
Lucieta is in their field, there are grapevines on grapevines. Men work, collecting their fruits, but they wear togas as if they were Romans. She has seen etchings of such fashions in her brother’s books and statues around Venice—a city with no Roman connection and yet is so desiring of it they myth-make themselves to death.
This is the first time she has seen San Francesco as a man since childhood. No longer a blaze of light she can barely discern, he is simply, humbly, himself. Blind, weather worn skin, almost bark-like, his tonsured hair curling into brushland. At his feet is a wolf, on his shoulder a crow. Sister bird, he gestures, brother wolf.
There is a well, the saint continues, and you must unearth it. It has been buried for too long. Sacred to the divine and to the land, by freeing it you will free yourselves from the blight and rot that assails your crops.
‘I thought brother Bastiano is to heal the land.’
San Francesco strokes the wolf’s head. Sometimes God sets things in such a way that two agents are acting on the same problem but do not know each-other.
‘Where is the holy well that I must dig up? What are the signs that I should look for to locate it?’
Where the lightning strikes, there it will be.
‘Has the lightning already struck or will it be striking soon?’
But Lucieta is fading, San Francesco is fading, the crow takes flight, the wolf howls, she wakes and it is morning.
Feeling self-indulgent so made a moodboard for a story I’m working on about a village suffering blight on their grape crop and a young woman, Lucieta, who starts having visions of Saint Francis. There’s also a mysterious [franciscan] friar who shows up out of no where claiming he can heal the land. There’s also the obligatory homoerotic presence which, in this case, is brought to you by Lucieta’s psycho-sexual Issues with her mother-in-law. It’s complicated.
Shit gets weird.

Having gone in search of her, she has followed me to Venice. On the 13th of the month she slid this doctored photo-postcard under my door at the Pensione San Bernardino. She signed it with the assumed name of Lucieta Williams. That signature, beneath the word, 'straniero', crossed out and replaced by another: `intruso' had been hastily written, if I am not mistaken, in viridian green Rohrer & Klinger ink and, unmistakably, with her favourite Montegrappa Ducale Murano fountain pen. From her pursuer, I have become her prey, yet again.

Thanks @anika for including my thoughts on the looping phenomenon in NFT art—or Wallet Art, as she terms it—in @kunstforum_international! The column is in German, but here’s an excerpt below in English: “When the hype about NFTs started following Beeple's auction record at Christie's in the spring of 2021, suddenly everyone was talking about NFT art. (…) Of course, that was reason enough for the international media to deal with something that previously only nerds and experts had dealt with: digital art. And digital art was somehow equated with NFT art, and that, in turn, was equated with trashy memes. And then, like everyone else who had been dealing with the topic for a long time, I was slightly annoyed by this short circuit, but even more so by the term NFT art. What is that supposed to be? In any case, I said loudly on social media, "NFT art" doesn't exist because an NFT is a certificate of authenticity for a digital asset stored on the blockchain. (…) So a few months and many conversations later, I changed my mind. There is NFT art, but the term "NFT art" just doesn't work because an NFT is a certificate of authenticity. It's like calling art generally contract art, because when you buy art, you enter into a contract. So what's a suitable term? Wallet Art. Why? Because the wallet is the new cultural space on the Internet, for which art is made precisely. Now, of course, you could say that it's like talking about museum art or gallery art, because these are spaces too. But there is land art, installation art, and public art, art that is site-specific and has certain characteristics. Wallet Art is the maximum reduction in form and content. In an endless loop.” Happy to be included alongside @austinleee @olive_allen, @reepsone, @lucietae and @jamsutton 💥🤯💥 Full article at link in bio 📲 https://www.instagram.com/p/CWlWVQoI7xq/?utm_medium=tumblr

Lucius, in Geta's bed: Morning... how’d ya sleep last night?
Geta: ....*frog blinks*
Geta knocks Lucius off the bed: WHAT THE HELLS?!
Lucius: OW—!?
Geta: What were you doing in my bed? You were supposed to sleep on the pillows and blankets on the floor!
Lucius: ....
Lucius: ....I had a nightmare.
Geta: You had a nightmare? What are you, five years old?
Lucius: Listen, I needed to feel comfortable, and I was getting this perverse power dynamic vibe from me sleeping on the floor and you sleeping up there-
Geta, in his royal accent: Ah yes, how high and mighty I am up on my twin XL!
Lucius: That is not what I meant—
Geta: Silence in the presence of your emperor, who sleeps a lofty twelve and a half inches above the ground!
Lucius: Listen, I’m not ashamed. I slept comfortably when I got up on your bed, and I’m sure you did too.
Geta: Yeah, okay-
Lucius: You know what? I wanna know. How’d you sleep last night?
Geta: ....*blushes*
Geta: …That was the best I’ve slept in a while.
Lucius, gasping: The emperor slept comfortably with a peasant in his bed!
Geta: I did not consent to this-!
Lucius, dramatically: But my liege, our love is forbidden!
*Geta throws a pillow at him*

Would Arthur be interested in or good at gardening you think?
I'm assuming this is in a Napolington AU context of some sort!
You know, I'm not sure. He liked hunting - though he was terrible at it. Infamously terrible. He was keen on walking, riding, very much an "out doors" sort of chap (not unlike a certain one time emperor of France). I could see him attempting gardening and being not great at it. I just don't see him as a green-thumb sort of person, unlike Napoleon who apparently had a bit of a knack for it.
(Now, I could very easily be wrong - I'm not as up to speed on niche Wellesley facts as I am on Napoleon facts, so if anyone knows for certain I'd appreciate it!)
So yeah! Napoleon out in the Woodford/Murder Fairy AU faffing about in his garden would be a Him Thing and he'd mandate, by unofficial law, that the Duke is not to touch a single plant because the last time he attempted to provide help he fucked up Napoleon's roses and Napoleon is not letting that happen again. On pain of death.
Wellesley: you can't. execute me. you're an unofficial prisoner of his majesty on English soil.
Napoleon: just watch me.
Wellesley: fine. if you're going to be weird about it i'm just going to day drink your favourite wine and make back-seat carriage driver comments on your gardening technique.
Napoleon: you say that as if you would be doing something different if i let you help.
Wellesley:
Wellesley: i guess.

14 20 26 28 31 for the writing ask, please! 😊
Hahaha annnnd here are my replies, two months late lol
14. Write and share the first sentence of a new fic. Just that.
There's something uncanny about becoming the prey animal when, for so long, a man is used to being the hunter.
20. Do you work on a single project or many at the same time? How does that work for you?
I definitly am a multi-project person. I'll cycle through them, depending on what I'm in the mood to write.
For example, at the moment I've got:
What Makes a King pt. 2 (Eomer/Grima; Grima/His Internal Desire to be Lady Macbeth)
The Magi (original story - but it's Ficini/Cavalcanti)
A Discworld fic that's a meditation on illness, disability, and politics (Downey/vetinari)
Shardlake fic (Shardlake/Barak)
Napolington rework of Pale Before the Fall (what it says on the tin)
Elegy for those still breathing (Hastings/Poirot)
poetry manuscript
Lucieta (original story - prequal to the Venetians/House of No Return)
Letters (Downey/Vetinari - a new fic I'm working on with a friend)
annnd I think that's all for now.
26. What would you describe as OOC?
For Grima I've answered that Here :D
28. Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?
I'm not the best at sharing advice because I find everyone is so different that it's really just about figuring out what works for you and your style and what the story needs.
Also, what I have to say is all stuff that's been said before:
Write everything out first then edit. Just, word vomit all over the page then go back with the scalpel to edit and adjust.
Outlines can be as detailed or as high level as you need them to be.
Sometimes you just have to kill your darlings, sadly
Step away from a piece when you're done before going in to edit. Give yourself a solid break from it - that will lend some perspective to the editing process.
Not every scene needs to be written. We don't need to see the characters do everything - we can just jump to the next important part.
Be self-indulgent when writing, especially the first draft, even if you do end up removing portions of the self indulgence later. It's important because it gives you pleasure, keeps you writing, and allows you time and space to get to know characters/the story/the world.
31. What was the most difficult fic for you to write (but in the end you made it)?
There were times when I was losing steam for the LOTR Trilogy rewrite. Definitely some hard moments there. But it's written! It's done!
Thus Always - I had to rewrite the entire thing I had stopped for so long lol
hmmm there are a few others that I remember being a challenge to write. Mostly it's about losing momentum - if I lose steam and interest it's hard to get back into it.
---
Thank you so much for the ask!!

Chapter 64: Lovechild; part 3
Lucieta, the only legitimate child of the Swiftblade family was soon married off to the extremely powerful Dracul family. Barely of age, the young girl was soon to meet her future husband, Emil of Dracul.
Due to Morgana’s lifelong spite towards Arabella, the lady was forced to accompany Lucieta on the ship headed to the Dracul kingdom as a gift to the Draculians- a slave.
“I wanteth not to beest did marry!“ Lucieta cried.
Arabella could only sigh.
Lucieta and Arabella were well acquainted, due to her son whose now the king, Luca, being Lucieta’s younger brother and playmate.
“Tis every mistress's duty, m’lady,” Arabella cooed gently.
