I don’t have any new art to share… so I’m should going to repost some of my other Star Wars art from this summer until I do 🥰 If anyone wants to follow me on other platforms, I’m also on DeviantArt, Instagram, and Toyhouse!
Since Omega is ultra skilled in strategy games to where she never looses, and Tech plays against himself because it’s the only time it’s a challenge, what if Omega and Tech played against each other? Who wins? (In this scene, definitely Omega, he’s still loopy on pain killers and sedatives, maybe she’ll go easy on him XD)
This is after s2e2, my poor heart was hurting so much for my nerdy boy when he broke his leg! Then this idiot decided to walk out in the woods alone at night on it and went and fought some troopers. DUDE, REST YOUR LEG. He may be smart but he’s also dumb. When he finally collapsed, I was internally crying for someone to help him!! I needed to know he got help but the episode ended before that, so I went and did it myself. Because he was stupid with his injury, he probably made the fracture even worse and needed surgery. You know I research a lot of medical stuff for my stories, right? So Omega is playing balaans with Tech to help him kill boring recovery time 🖤🩶❤️
and big protective sibling (father figure) Hunter stays with him as he stays over for the night. He is exhausted and sleep deprived but silently celebrating that his insomniac brother is getting extra hours of Z’s at last! XDD thank the force hes actually sleeping tech is insomniac i dont make the rules
Please do not trace, recolor, edit, or repost my art without permission, even if you are planning to give me proper credit!
Tech, Omega, and Hunter belongs to Lucasfilm/Disney

It's a shame that the multi-media franchise of star wars have twisted the original narrative of the Jedi. I really love the sequel trilogy, I love season 7 of TCW, and Dave Filoni is amazing storyteller. But over the years, it's gotten to the point where the Jedi are being criticized to such a degree that now some people believe the Jedi should've changed their entire belief system. It's great to criticize the Jedi. They are flawed and not perfect. But now because they are now being framed negatively over the past 2-3 years and so now, some justify their genocide, disrespect their belief system, and believe Anakin was a poor victim who got caught up in everything. Lucasfilm or any writer is to blame for this, but I think people need to look a little more deeper into the media literacy behind star wars, and consider the fact that a child is going to love the Jedi despite their flaws and will be sad when they see them get killed. Because star wars is made for children who can look up to the Jedi as role models.
All of this.
I frankly don't know what else to add, @thecenturyofmusic said it all.
I also think there's an argument to be made for shifting global values.
I don't know about how it was in the U.S. specifically, but I don't remember there being as much of an emphasis on mental health back in the early 2000s as there is today.
Back then, I remember many fans sorta getting the core story but hating it, which resulted in a lot of them just bashing the Prequels.
Nowadays, a spin has been put on the Prequels wherein Anakin is the poster boy for the mental illness, he's just a victim:
he grew up a slave which gave him severe PTSD,
then was ripped away from the arms of his mother by
an elite order of emotionless monks whose emotionally-repressing teachings are the perfect representation of toxic masculinity and force you to never get emotionally attached,
who berated and rejected him at every turn,
he also doesn't have a father figure except for the Chancellor, who grooms him and isolates him,
and instead of supporting him in his hour of need, the Jedi hurt Anakin psychologically to a degree where at some point he just loses it and kills them all, because as far as he's concerned they were evil to him.
And... yeah. It can be interpreted that way. It resonates more to people when seen that way.
But it wasn't meant to be seen that way.
If it was, then we'd have seen very different Prequels.
Watto would have physically abused Anakin left and right like he's DiCaprio in Django: Unchained, instead of joking around about humans with him.
Shmi would've been on the ground crying, holding Anakin's leg and screaming "please no give me back my babyyyy!!!"
Literally every shot of the Jedi emoting, screaming, chuckling, being worried would be absent and they'd all speak with a monotonous voice, including Yoda, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.
If we were supposed to feel like Anakin is in the right and the Jedi are in the wrong then we'd be shown an Anakin who isn't petulant, arrogant and overly emotional. We'd see a normal person who gets berated by a group of unfeeling old men.
Anakin wouldn't call Obi-Wan his father twice (which is admittedly a nuanced situation because while Anakin may see Obi-Wan as a father, Obi-Wan sees Anakin as a little brother so hey).
We'd see Anakin explicitly state that he's afraid of his wife dying, maybe carrying her unconscious body to the temple steps begging for help only for someone to reject him at the door because "it goes against protocol" and that's when Palpatine swoops in.
Y'know, more explicit, emotion-eliciting stuff?
But we didn't see any of that. Because it wasn't about any of that. If it was, then it goes about delivering its message in the weakest way possible.
While nowadays, the popular take is that Anakin's downfall is the fault of everyone around him, the intended take was that Anakin's fall was his own fault. Anakin is a victim of his own flaws.
The Prequels weren't meant to show you what happens when you keep pushing a mentally unstable person, they were about cautioning children about not giving in to their own fear and greed.
"How does a good kid become a bad man?" He let his inner demons - fear, anger, greed - get the better of him.
And that's not necessarily a take most people agree with these days, but that takes us back to how much importance you actually give to GL's original vision.

Ahsoka Episode 4 Spoilers/Thoughts
This was...a big one, to say the least.
Also note to self do NOT open tumblr while in the middle of watching an episode or you will be spoiled for that epic ending *sobs* oh well...
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT
2/2 Star Wars characters repairing ship wiring on their back...v nice
Sabine, you realize none of you would be in this position if you hadn't squirreled away with the map in your tower...jus sayin...
"Can I count on you?" Yeah I'm gonna say that's a no...
Sabine loading her blasters is super cool but also giving me flashbacks to trying to reload staple gun or nail gun cartridges and hoping you don't launch them into your face in the process
Natasha plays Sabine's nervous energy very well and Rosario is showing Ahsoka's own unease, reserve, but also very caring concern, extremely well. I really wish we could see the history between these two--animated in between series anyone??
I wonder why Dave doesn't bring up the fact that Ahsoka owes Ezra her life. It's only focused on what Ezra means to Sabine, but he means a lot to Ahsoka too.
Huyang's lil hands on hips...you can tell he's a full practical build here.
Speaking of...I REALLY want to know if the practical robot was used for this fight scene, or if they switched to someone in a costume/CGI. It seems like the HK droids are people/CGI but I could be wrong about that. Either way, go Huyang go!
It's always a treat to see Mandos and Jedi fighting styles together. And Sabine's Wonder Woman vambrace block was great.
Ahsoka's white lightsabers are so stunning in live action.
"May I make one request of you both?" LISTEN TO HUYANG. HE KNOWS WHAT'S UP. "Stay together." And WHAT ARE THEY NOT GONNA DO SMH
"Mom, how come I have to do what I'm told and you don't" lmao
Jacen is so spunky and I'm so glad Dave is having him be a full part of the series.
Carson Teva my man! And Brendan!
BUT WHERE ARE ZEB AND KALLUS. WHERE ARE OUR MARRIED BOIS
"Faith? I lost that a long time ago" Baylon's backstory pleaseeeee. Who was his master. How far did he get in training. Was he knighted? Did he have a padawan pre-order 66? Where was he during the war? Where was he during Order 66? When did he walk away, and what did he walk away to? What are his goals now? How did he find Shin/why did he want to train her? We desperately need a comic or a book here Lucasfilm
The graphics for the countdown clock (and the droids manning them) are super cool
Shin dear lord can you be any more dramatic
Sabine and Shin running off like rabid wolves while Ahsoka is just like, oh please, do I really have to deal with this right now
Ahsoka > any inquisitor, dead or alive, magic or real, anytime, any place, any age LOL
Ugh the parallels to Obi-Wan and Maul are impeccable.
So I totally knew Marrok would be a nobody/throwaway character but a nightsister necromancer ghost??? Did not see that coming at all. Eerie
Shin seems honestly disturbed by seeing Marrok fall. I wonder if the body that was used was someone she knew or had a connection to.
The lightsaber usage in this show is so interesting and such a unique blend of samurai techniques, OT trilogy techniques, and more realistic stabbing and swiping and slicing motions. I love the choreography and cinematography of Shin and Sabine going at it as well as how the trees and landscape are used in their fight.
Looks like Shin got her dramatics from her master. Sitting there with his hood up for effect lol
Definitely getting flashbacks to Ahsoka's sass in her fight with Maul in TCW.
Baylon's textured armor is so incredible. I want to see him leading a 13th century cavalcade
Can he read people's minds? Or does he do in depth research like Thrawn does so he knows the weak points of his opponents?
“One must destroy in order to create.” No. You are incorrect sir. One must die. One must morph, must change, in order to create. But that is different than destroying.
Again with the one saber. It's such an odd choice for Ahsoka to do that, and it honestly feels like an excuse for Baylon to be able to overpower her later. I don't quite like it.
It is very interesting how Baylon views Ahsoka, and tells her that her legacy is death and broken promises. What exactly does he think her legacy is? Because that is Anakin's legacy, not hers (at least through Rebels). What has happened since then?
He looks so sad, honestly.
There's way too much leaving oneself open to attack in this episode.
The fight scene definitely looks slowed down a little, and it's a little clunky, but man Baylon is brutal with his saber. Again why is Ahsoka not using both of hers to combat is strength??
Either there's a trailer shot that never made it into this fight, or Baylon and Ahsoka fight again. I'm missing where she kicks back against one of those tall rocks and flips over. That was such a cool shot.
I honestly can't believe Shin was able to block the whistling birds lol. That would be an intense hit to the face. Also I love how much of the shots and sparks in these shows are practical. It makes it feel so much more real.
The map burning Ahsoka is wild. It makes sense but very unfortunate.
Hot damn Ahsoka! She definitely was tapping into some anger there. In real life that hit to the back of the head should have seriously injured Shin. Filoni is really being gritty and brutal with the fights in this show, they're raw and dirty in ways that the trilogies were not.
Aaaaaand while I know Ahsoka isn't dead yet (there's no way Filoni would kill off the title character halfway through a first season) holy cow that was heartwrenching
Baylon is a master manipulator. He makes Maul look like a babbling teenager. And yet he doesn't seem to derive any twisted pleasure from it. He just is doing what he thinks he needs to do.
I'm sorry Ahsoka had WHAT to do with Sabine's family dying???? In the Purge??? Ugh geez that's awful.
Gah DAMN it Sabine!! C'mon girl!! Bad decision, bad decision!
WHAT IS THIS GREATER GOOD BAYLON
I would have loved to see Obi-Wan face off against Baylon. The quiet patience and calm strength...too much for one room
He is just not done digging at Ahsoka is he. Again, master manipulator, but why?
Huyang's little magnifying glass!
Dave definitely nailed the lighting in this show. Even if the volume is still apparent in some shots, the lighting is finally dialed in and soft and realistic and atmospheric. That shot of Baylon after decimating the map is epic.
Yeahhh, Hera, ya'll might want to skedaddle right quick before you get....oh, too late....
"Mom? I've got a bad feeling." Me too kid, me too.
"Lady Wren, Lady Tano" *sobbing* Hera make sure Huyang makes it back pls
This transition.
Oh boy
I know what's coming bc I got on tumblr too early but OH MAN
ahhhh it's so gorgeous
it's here, it's finally here and it's BEAUTIFUL (The World Between Worlds, who did you think I was talking about, Anakin? ;)
I'm KIDDING ANAKIN IS BEAUTIFUL TOO OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES
"Hello Snips" I can't I truly can't
"I didn't expect to see you so soon" so is she dead? Dying? Disassociating while drowning? Dave if you kill Ahsoka off in this show I will never forgive you
She is in shock omg look at him she is reunited with her brother, her master, her friend!!
We think--DAVE WHAT DOES VADER THEME MEAN. DAVE, SIR, HOW DARE YOU KNOW HOW TO LEAVE US ON SUCH A CLIFFHANGER IT IS UNFAIR.
Welp I have no idea what to do with myself until next week and we find out what's going on here. I swear if that's not the real Anakin I will be beside myself.
Let's get ready for flashbacks folks. What an episode.

Of Light and Darkness: Phantom in the Dark 3
Pairing: Obi Wan Kenobi X Reader
WARNINGS!: Grief, Delayed grieving reactions, funerals, Stress, instant parenthood (of sorts), self loathing, self doubt, if I missed any Lemme Know! On the Opposite side of that there’s of comfort and fluff too.
A/N: I don’t own any rights to the story or characters in Cannon Star Wars. There are a few portions of the dialogue within this chapter. This is a Loving tribute and work of Fan fiction, with a few tweaks and twists of my own! I felt that Palpatine’s dialogue needed just a tweek, probably be more so in the future. I mean the man hid in plain sight for years and I feel that he would have played a few situations differently. It always seemed a great shame to me that we never saw Obi Wan get knighted. I mean it’s a very big deal and his ceremony was probably rushed and his master couldn’t be there. The man seriously needs the cuddles, Anakin too… Anyway enjoy!
PS- This will probabily be the last chapter for a little bit. Unfortunately I’m dealing with some health stuff and need to get a few ducks in a row. BUT!! I am still working on the writing while I’m out of commission. Thank You all for supporting this lil fic writer, you mean the galaxy to me!

Masterlist Next Part
The three of you escorted Queen Padme and the greeting committee to the newly landed diplomatic cruiser. The Trade Federation prisoners had been annoying at best and argumentatively belligerent at worst, handing over custody would be a relief. You had been keeping a keen eye on Anakin and occasionally reminding him to ignore the prisoners while walking to the vessel. You could feel his anger as clearly as you could see it. You couldn’t blame the boy for how he felt, your own emotions very near the surface.
Turning to him again you gave an imploring look, “Please Anakin, I know you’re upset, but we all need to stay calm. Can you help me by doing that?”
“They’re the reason for all of this.” He kept his eyes forward in an effort to ignore the prisoners.
“Then they are also the reason you are here, one of the dominos in a long chain of events that led to this point. We don’t always get to choose what happens to us Anakin. We do have a choice of how we react, don’t give them the satisfaction of your anger.” Obi Wan replied calmly. The young man took a deep breath and tried to compose himself. You squeezed his shoulder and tried to remain centered. Obi Wan was reaching out to you, his signature sad but much steadier than before.
“You’re shaking,” Obi Wan looked at you, his concern only half hidden, “are you alright wee one?
“Not really, but now is not the time,” your throat was sore and you felt tired to your very bones, “How are you holding up?”
“I think I’d rather face a firing squad.” His eyes dropped to his toes. “Too late to run now though.”
“I know.” You wrapped his signature in your own, hoping to give what comfort you could. “You’re not alone Obi Boy, I’m right here.”
Queen Padme looked to Gunray and the other prisoners with distain. “Now Viceroy, you’re going to have to go back to the Senate and explain all of this.”
Captain Panaka fell out of rank taking a step toward the Viceroy. “I think you can kiss your little trade franchise goodbye.”
The prisoners were taken on board the ship and the new Chancellor exited the ramp beaming at you all. You bowed in respect to the man’s rank even if he waived to stop you from doing so. “We are indebted to you for your bravery Obi Wan Kenobi and Y/n L/n. And you, young Skywalker, we will watch your career with great interest.”
The Queen of Naboo stepped forward, extending her hand to Chancellor Palpatine, the white makeup and dark, bulky gown hid the few injuries she had well enough. She was no longer the warrior and friend from earlier, instead the visage of a planetary ruler, though the young woman did glance Anakin’s way frequently. “Congratulations on your election Chancellor.”
“No, my dear, it is you who should be congratulated,” Palpatine bowed humbly, touching her hand to his head then coming back to stand, “Your bold actions have saved our people… all of our people. The children of Naboo shall always remember this day and all who fought. Together we shall bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy.”
The two politicians walked towards the Palace and the Jedi Council then proceeded down the ramp towards you. Many familiar faces were there including Yoda, Ki Adi Mundi, Plo Koon, Yaddle, Even Piel, and Deppa Bilba.
You got along with your Masters former apprentice, enjoyed her company even, but you always felt imperfect by comparison. She had become a knight a few years before you had been reassigned and now sat on the Council the same as her Master before. As Deppa came toward you with the others her eyes conveyed empathy and perhaps worse pity, you dare not glance at any of the others.
Mace had observed you and Obi Wan as he had exited the ramp, giving that stoic look of concern that had become habitual by now. There was a deep sadness within both of you, one he felt as well. Losing a friend and fellow Jedi was never something he got used to. He had also noticed how you placed a protective arm around the Skywalker boy.
Both you and Kenobi then privately plead Anakin’s case to Master Yoda and himself. It was yet another time that he would feel both frustration and pride. As so often before you’d argued on the young man’s behalf, not only from the perspective of the Jedi Oath, but as an advocate for his welfare. Obi Wan was staunch in his position that Anakin be accepted into the order showing the slightest hint of his former youthful brashness. While it would take time to consider the decision it was also abundantly clear that both Padawans had yet to even take respite from the days events. Mace dismissed the two until the afternoon briefing, hoping to at least evade the decision for the time being, more pressing matters needing to be addressed. Looking at your face he cursed himself yet again for assigning this mission to both of you.
Yoda gazed at his colleague sensing his thoughts, “Always protect your Padawan, you cannot. Taught her well to protect herself you have.”
“Perhaps.”
Obi Wan was exhausted mentally and physically. As there was no time for sleep, meditation would have to suffice. You had been given rooms in the far wing of the palace overlooking the falls. His emotions still swirled and churned much like the water below. Try though he may to find the calm within Obi Wan was thwarted at every turn, tortured instead by images of the Sith standing over Qui Gon. The anger and sadness circled within him still, barely contained, and that frightened Obi Wan more. Remembering the fear he had seen within your eyes, he could tell that you had felt the darkness as well.
You returned from your walk, having changed back into your familiar robes, injuries hidden beneath the protective layers. Anakin was asleep on the settee having come to be with someone he was at least familiar with, new tear streaks staining his face. He had been through so much and you were relieved he had found the comfort of sleep, even if it currently eluded you. Moving to place a blanket over him you then strode to the balcony. Any other day you’d have snuck up on Obi Wan and tickled him till his stony expression changed, but this day had robbed even that small joy away. You chose instead to perch silently on the padded bench and wait for him.
Obi Wan rose and joined you on the bench, pausing momentarily before laying down to place his head in your lap. Wrapping an arm around your waist he clung on, afraid that you would be ripped away from him next. You started to hum an old tune, stroking his head and back. Obi Wan wasn’t a child in need of coddling and he should be able to deal with these feelings on his own, but he couldn’t stop the tears. Adjusting position you pulled him closer, rubbing circles on his back.
“I’m here, you’re safe now…I have you Obi Boy…I love you.”
The briefing before the Jedi Council was not a pleasant task. Obi Wan had gone first having to relive the duel against the Sith and Master Qui Gon’s Death. Master Ki Ada Mundi had scoffed stating it wasn’t possible, the being had to have been a skilled assassin and nothing more. There had been voices of doubt and denial, while others had seen the look in both Padawans eyes that this was no exaggeration nor falsehood.
“What more proof do you require?” Obi Wan’s patience was wearing thin. Feeling the tap of your boot on the floor though he took a steadying breath. Why would the council not see what was plainly in front of their noses.
“I’m trying love, I’m Trying.”
“I know Obi Boy, steady on.”
It was your turn to narrow your eyes at the council members still protesting. As your late Master was apt to say on many a mission, “Some beings are like chem sticks, they need a good shake for the light to go on.”
Stepping forward you pulled out a wrapped item from your robes. Even Obi Wan was surprised by this. “I had hoped that the wise members of the Council would hear the truth of our statements. I suppose sometimes seeing is believing though.”
You didn’t unwrap the package directly, instead suspended it with the Force not wanting to directly touch whatever was inside. “I went back down into the power station to see once more where this creature fell, to confirm for myself what I had seen with my own two eyes. I understand that it doesn’t seem possible. However, I found this on the ground by the pit.”
Floating it over Master Mundi manipulated it apart, revealing the blood red kyber within. Master Windu kept watching you, assessing you or your actions. You well understood that this would rankle his sensibilities and land you in a world of trouble, if you weren’t already there. In your mind though there was simply no refuting the evidence before them.
Master Windu cocked his eyebrow, “I’d say that there’s no longer room for doubt. It was a Sith that killed Qui Gon Jinn.”
Obi Wan bowed his head heavily, both from relief and residual guilt.
“Agreed and also troubling...Very troubling. How came this to pass without our knowledge?” the master shook his head sighing. “Young Y/n your testimony now, tell us you will.”
Yoda saw your head dip and take several deep breaths. You had obviously performed your duties well, but the question remained as to what plagued you so? You told the Council of the intense fire fight and being caught. Told them about the fight with Haako and how you were responsible for his death. Master Windu heard how your voice cracked, your fingers were clenched tightly into fists. “I’m sorry Master I’ve failed you.”
“In what way have you failed my apprentice? Did you not see that the Queen remained safe? Did you fail to protect yourself?” his tone was even.
“No Master, but I have taken a life. A healer is a protector of the living and the mark of a good Jedi is to show mercy. I didn’t intent that my actions should kill him, but none the less that Nemoidian’s blood is on my hands. I must hold myself accountable for my actions and will abide by your judgement in this matter.” You kept your chin and eyes level though your jaw was clenched tightly enough to break.
The Council of course had seen both security holograms and knew what each of you had faced. There had been interviews with The Queen, Captain Panaka, Sabe and others. The decision in both cases had already been made, and so Mace rose to deliver the Councils verdict. “Obi Wan Kenobi and Y/n L/n, Padawan learners, kneel.”
Obi Wan glanced at you seeing equal confusion in your eyes. As the two of you knelt the rest of the council gathered in a circle around you. Your Master looked to the both of you. “It has been many years since such an unusual trial was faced by our Padawan learners. Obi Wan Kenobi, you were once almost lost to the order, but returned and grew wiser from your experiences. You are now unique amongst our ranks having fought what has not been faced in a millennium. By your bravery and might an enemy of the Republic and of the Jedi was vanquished. I know that Qui Gon would be very proud of you.”
Obi Wan’s eyebrows raised infinitesimally, glancing to you then back to having his eyes forward. Master Windu then turned to you and in a rare occurrence his face softened a little. “Y/n L/n the path of a Jedi Knight is both of the warrior and of the peacekeeper. It is unavoidable at times to fight, injure, or kill; It is never done lightly. It is the wisdom to know that when you draw your blade though the one before you may fall, all who stand under your protection shall endure, that life may continue.”
Master Windu lowered his blade to Obi Wans shoulder, then sharply raised it freeing his braid. “By the right of the Council, By the will of the force.”
He then lowered his blade to your shoulder and sharply cut your braid free as well. “I dub thee Knights of the Republic.”
Raising his blade, he saluted you both, “Rise and be recognized.”
There were solemn congratulations, each of you shaking the hands of the council members and of each other. When Deppa had stepped forward you were still uncertain if she would greet you with disapproval. Deppa hesitated a moment then wrapped you in a hug offering you sincere congratulations, it was possibly the second most surprising thing of the day. Master Plo had patted the both of you on the shoulder in the familial way that he had treated you since you were younglings in the Creche. Yaddle had sidelined Obi Wan to speak privately, wanting to offer her condolences and to explain how painful it was for Qui Gon’s Master when he had heard the news and why he had not come.
After all was done Master Windu and Master Yoda requested to speak with you further. Obi Wan was still nervous that the petition on Anakin’s behalf would be denied. He though back to a few short hours before when the two of you had argued the case, it seemed an eternity ago now. Kneeling once more to be at eye level with Master Yoda, Obi Wan noticed that your posture was ramrod straight and braced. Master Windu was also tense, from the petition or from the decision though was the question.
Yoda paced back and forth on the polished marble floor, uncertainty was not something he was use to feeling in his many years of existence. “Confer on you the rank of Jedi Knight, the Council does. But agree on you taking this young boy as your Padawan learner, I do not.”
“Qui Gon believed in him, and I believe in Qui Gon.” Obi Wan was keeping a calm tone.
“The chosen one the boy may be; never the less grave danger I fear in his training.” The old master clacked his staff for emphasis.
“Then it’s even more important that he be taught well and that both his education and developmental needs be appropriately met.” You used the same clinical tone that was reserved for talking with senior resident physicians at the hospital. It took everything in you to remain calm and focused.
“Your petition was well made earlier my Pa…Y/n.” Mace might not ever get used to that, a part of him always seeing you as that fourteen-year-old apprentice he trained.
“I’m sorry my Master I meant no disrespect to you or to Master Yoda, but there is a grave concern here that I have not yet mentioned.” You peered briefly at Obi Wan and back to the two council members. “Where there is one Sith there is bound to be another, this cannot simply be an anomaly. If this young man is not taught and taught well how to protect himself then there is a real possibility he could fall into malevolent hands.”
Master Yoda bowed his head, “If correct your presumption is, still in danger young Skywalker may be. With or without training.”
“Master Yoda, I gave Qui Gon my word. I will train Anakin, without the approval of the council if I must.” Again it was said in an even tone, but there was an edge to Obi Wans voice when he said it. Even your eyebrow raised, it was unlike him to let his emotions run in front of the Senior members.
“And I gave my word to Anakin.” You nodded, though you still didn’t want to talk about your other promise.
“Qui Gons defiance I sense in you.” Yoda replied to Obi Wan, then motioned his staff in your direction. “Stubbornness from Melri too. Need that you do not.”
The old Master began to walk a pace to stand before the window. There was still a funeral to attend and his heart was heavy. It was times like these that he felt every day of his almost 900 years of life. So many souls had he seen brought into the Temple and then lost to old age or battles. That Qui Gon should have had more time in the living world only to be cut short by a sinister force hidden to even him. Sighing heavily he faced the two young Knights. “Agree with you the Council does. Your apprentice young Skywalker will be.”
“Thank you for your faith, Masters.” You smiled relieved at the decision. Both of you stood and bowed your respects.
Master Yoda and Master Windu watched the two young people as they left. “How they have grown… and we become old. When came she to be so mature?”
“She was always that way, one only had to look hard enough.” Mace sighed, not for the last time thinking of another wise, stubborn woman.
“Kenobi too, no longer the boy we judged so harshly.”
“I think Skywalker might just surprise us yet. If he’s anything like those two.” There was a hint of amusement in Mace Windu’s voice.
“Revealed through the Force and time, we shall see.”
The funeral for Qui Gon was a quiet affair, very formal and sorrowful. Obi Wan took Anakin back to your temporary billeting, caring for the young man kept him distracted from the grief. You had asked if he had wished to join you, Obi Wan had only shook his head, thanking you for going on his behalf. After everyone had left you had taken some of the cremains to the woods overlooking the city. It was home to many creatures, flowers and trees, the living Force that Master Qui Gon had followed in life. It was something you both had in common, not wanting to be laid in the dark or in stone. No life begets life as the old tales held and death was only a transition to another plane of existence. The stars shone brightly overhead. “I hope you like this spot Master Qui Gon.”
Bowing your head, you hoped he could hear you, somewhere out there. You had to believe that he had somehow rejoined Tahls spirit within the Force and that he was happy, Maker knew he’d more than earned it. Taking a deep breath you released the ashes into the air, watching them swirl and fly off. Tears that you dare not shed till now broke free. “I’ll miss you Master Qui Gon, more than you’ll know. You were my family when I was so very lost, you were the reason I met Obi Wan. Thank you for all you taught and did for me. Tell my Master hello and don’t worry about the boys, I got them from here.”
“There is absolutely no hope of getting the boy ready in time,” Obi Wan rolled his eyes at you.
Knowing what a crunch you were under to make the festivities you glared at him. Really this whole victory parade thing was something you could take or leave, preferably leave. However as you, Anakin, and Obi Wan were guests of honor there was no avoiding it. “I’m quite aware of the time.”
“Anakin hold still I’m almost done!” you snapped a little in exasperation; it was like trying to braid a bowl of gelatin. Looking at Obi Wan you raised an eyebrow. “You could help.”
“I still can’t believe I get to be a Jedi!” Anakin wiggled to the side, still kicking his feet that dangled from the tall chair.
Obi Wan extended his hand steadying the chair with the Force. “A Padawan learner. Then if you pass the trials and only then you will be a knight.”
“Thank you.” Sighing in relief you were almost through the final braid wrap.
Anakin was undeterred, “And I get two Masters!”
“Well yeah Ani-man, you need the extra help to catch up. DONE!” Throwing up your hands you stepped back to examine your work. At this point you were happy the braid was neat and looked uniform.
Obi Wan watched as you did a final inspection of Anakin’s robes, seeming satisfied. The padawan braid thread was color twined of blue and gold, a gift from the Queen and her handmaidens. He couldn’t help shaking his head again, still not quite believing that the two of you had somehow pulled this off. The boy hopped down and excitedly skipped about the room. “Can I go show Padme?”
“Yes. She’s probably already at the staging area, just meet us there.” Your terse tone belaying your exhaustion.
You went to the mirror to check your own hair, yet again found to be falling out of place. Sighing you pulled out the tie and finger combed the strands. You were cursing under your breath to the reflection that didn’t look how you wanted it too. “Sith Farking Hells… Damned stupid hair… should just chop it off.”
Obi Wan smirked as you tried yet again to put your hair up in a semi-symmetrical manner. Anakin had dashed off to see his friend, finally leaving the two of you alone. Taking the tie out of your hands he gathered the hair sifting out the knots. “Here Darling let me.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to be short with either of you.” The dark circles under your eyes matched the bruising on your face. He had begged you to treat the injuries, but you had insisted that you bear them as penance. Looking to him in the mirror as he pulled your hair back to braid it. Obi Wan continued to stroke his fingers along your head and neck soothingly, taking his time. When he was done you brought his arm around you, needing an anchor. “Obi Boy are you… are you sure about this? It wasn’t a very… I mean the timing…If you’d rather teach him on your own…”
“Ssshh.” He turned you around to face him. Neither of you had been given a moment to absorb all that had happened. Obi Wan’s own feelings were a torrent waiting to be let loose, but for now he had other things to care for. Cupping your face he brought his forehead to yours, “Y/n, I wouldn’t want to do this alone or with anyone else.”
Obi Wan held you close, burying his nose in your hair. Your soft cries were muffled against his chest and it broke his heart again. Raising your chin, he began kissing the tears away. You held tightly to his arms, taking a steadying breath. “There wee warrior, right as rain.”
“You’re too good to me. I should be the one comforting you.” You kissed the inside of his palm.
“When there’s time love, when there’s time.” Obi Wan gave your forehead another kiss.
“I’ll hold you to that Obi Boy. Alright let’s get this show on the road.” You pulled him to follow you, pausing when you felt resistance you were pulled back to him.
“We probably won’t get much time with each other alone, when we return. So, I just wanted to do this.” Obi Wan kissed you then, trying to encapsulate all that he felt. It left you breathless, blinking up at him. “I love you Y/n L/n. Thank you for saving me.”
“Love you too Obi Wan Kenobi, and you never need to thank me for that. You’ve saved me more times than you know.” Pressing your forehead to his you tugged his arm again. “Come on we gotta go get our kid.”
“Our Padawan, Master L/n.”
“Oh I like that, Master Kenobi.” Snorting you left hand in hand.

Hello tumblr. I have returned from a long period of inactivity, because I must bring the good word to the corner of the Star Wars fandom that used to be my main fannish home: there is a new era of Star Wars canon that was made just for our taste. It is called the High Republic.
WHAT IS THE HIGH REPUBLIC?
The High Republic is an giant multi-media project being carried out by the Lucasfilm story group to create a brand new era of Star Wars canon. It is set a few hundred years before the prequel era (so, a long time after the Old Republic era), in a period of peace and stability within the Republic. It currently includes several English language adult novels, a YA novel, two serialized comics, a manga, some short stories, and some short video blurbs published on facebook and youtube. A TV show for Disney+ has also been announced, but is a few years off. This project is unique in Star Wars, in that all of the different parts are being written together by one writing team, and are coordinated to tell a cohesive story. Also, what has been announced is just the beginning – they have stated that there will be three different sections of the High Republic, and everything we have had announced so far is just part one. As a note: this is an era for which there was NO pre-existing canon in Legends, so it is totally new territory.
OKAY, THAT’S NICE, BUT WHY SHOULD I BOTHER TO CHECK IT OUT?
There are SO many reasons why the High Republic is worth your time to explore. I will try to outline some of them here below the cut (without any significant spoilers).
IT IS A LOVE LETTER TO THE JEDI
This is the era for everyone who loves the Jedi and wants to understand how they got to the point they did in the prequel era. It shows Jedi at their best: saving people, working together, being completely in tune with the Force (in so many beautiful and original ways), demonstrating creativity and flexibility and being rewarded for it, actually thinking through the ethics of things like the mind trick, and DEALING with their emotions rather than repressing them. It shows us how the rigid Jedi culture was saw in the prequels was a corruption of something that was originally healthy and uplifting. Jedi in this era are allowed to be flawed, and to grow, and have a community that supports them in doing so. This is the Jedi culture so many of us created as fix it fic for the prequel era, but made canon.
IT IS AN ERA OF HOPE
There are some serious problems in the High Republic Era. Without spoilers, the era opens with a terrible humanitarian crisis, laid over the Republic equivalent of the New Deal from US history. We see a lot of examples of people doing their best to be good to each other, and working for a more just and kind galaxy. They acknowledge that things are not perfect, but people from many different backgrounds (Jedi, politicians, farmers, pilots, business people) work together to try and make things better. I don’t know about you all, but with the darkness we see in the world today, I NEED some of that optimism in my escapist media. The High Republic provides that.
IT WILL GIVE YOU FEELINGS
The existing material so far is structured to really let you emotionally invest in the characters and their struggles. Unlike with many eras of Star Wars canon, characterization is not sacrificed for the sake of plot (though never fear, there is PLENTY of plot). That means there is huge scope for empathy. I’m not going to lie; I cried within the first three chapters of Light of the Jedi, as did several other people I know. It is POIGNANT in a way that feels truly genuine.
IT IS FUN
The writing team understands that, in the end, Star Wars is space fantasy. If your space fantasy is nothing but serious, gritty grimdark, it becomes pretentious and unbearable. So, for all that there is some heavy content in the High Republic (VERY heavy content – the Nihil should really have their own content warning), it has many moments of levity that keep it from taking itself too seriously. For example, the High Republic made Jedi bodice rippers canon. Also, characters like Geode exist (yes, that rock there is a CHARACTER). The result is something which honors the spirit of Star Wars, and keeps you engaged without being tedious or ridiculously depressing.
THE WRITING TEAM HAS DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES
The main writing team consists of five people: Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Charles Soule, Daniel José Older, and Cavan Scott. You will note that includes two people of color, two women, and one out Queer person (in fact, one of the writers is all three of those things). This is a far cry from the white-cis-straight-man-dominated writing teams we have seen in the past. And when they bring in other people to the project, they make a point of looking for perspectives that aren’t represented on their team – for example, the manga is being co-written between Justina Ireland and Japanese writer Shima Shinya, and Ireland has stated in interviews that Shinya is taking the lead on the writing.
IT VALUES MEANINGFUL REPRESENTATION
That diverse writing team means a cast that looks WAY more like the real world than any other era of Star Wars we’ve seen, in terms of representation. There are multiple characters of color, who are both heroes and central to the story. There are at least five canonical queer characters to date (a MLM couple, an Ace character, and two NB character). [EDIT: Thank you @legok9 for letting me know about the NB characters]. Among binary gendered characters, there is a very even balance of men and women. The writing team has also stated that they will be incorporating more representation of disability in the works to come. And the story is so much better for it – representation is included here BECAUSE it makes for more creative, believable, and original storytelling.
IT IS ACCESSIBLE
Because of the multiple formats, and the fact that it doesn’t rely on you knowing any prior lore, the High Republic offers many avenues to engage for people with all kinds of needs. Know nothing about Star Wars canon and feel intimidated about catching up? The canon is all new in this era anyway, so you’re fine. Can’t handle flashing lights? No problem – the little bit of video content that exists is totally free from the strobing effects that caused seizure and sensory issues. Need purely audio content? You can still have a full experience of the High Republic with the gorgeously sound-scaped audiobooks. Don’t have the attention span for books or long movies? Then the comics are your friend.
THERE IS SOMETHING FOR ALL
Between the books aimed towards adults and teens (and their respective audiobooks), the kids books, the comics, the manga, the short stories, AND the eventual TV show on Disney+, there is going to be content in the High Republic that suits most audiences. And that is just what has been announced so far – there is still more to come for phases II and III. This isn’t Star Wars written towards one group or demographic – it is Star Wars for everyone.
DID I MENTION THE FANCY JEDI UNIFORMS?
Because cosplayers and fanartists? This is the era for you. We are getting Jedi in silks with elaborate gold embroidery. Jedi with jewelry other decorative elements. Even the practical field uniforms have tooled and embossed leather. If you want to draw or make Jedi that have some of that that sweet LoTR-esque high fantasy aesthetic, the High Republic has your back. (Not going to lie – I am ALREADY imagining the time travel AUs. Put Obi-Wan in fancy clothes!)
OKAY, YOU’VE SOLD ME. WHERE SHOULD I START?
I strongly recommend everyone looking to get into the High Republic (who is old enough to be on Tumblr) start with Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. I alternated between the physical book and the audio book, and found it delightful in both formats. After that, you have a lot of options. You can read or listen to the audio book of the YA novel A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland. You can check out the currently running Star Wars: The High Republic comic from Marvel, or the Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic from IDW. Or you can skip straight to Into the Dark by Claudia Gray. Honestly, there is no wrong order to try out most of the High Republic.
IN CONLUSION
The High Republic is Star Wars written for people who DON’T want Star Wars to be a good ‘ol boys club for salty white dudes who don’t want to see anything but more of Luke Skywalker. It offers broad representation, and optimistic narrative, and whole bunch of awesome Jedi content. If you are someone who fell in love with Jedi in the prequel era, the High Republic will give you more of what you loved. And if you are totally new to Star Wars? The High Republic is here for you too.
So, go check it. And then go write fic for it (please, there are only, like, 14 fics on AO3, I am dying).
#star wars#the high republic#jedi#long post#recs#book recs#representation#seriously I cannot recommend this highly enough#everything about the high republic is so very tailored to what I love about star wars in general and Jedi specifically#also...sorry I had been absent here#I swear I still love you all#I just have limited interaction spoons these days and spend most of them on costuming stuff

Niki Blethers: The Book of Boba Fett--ep. 3
Oh boy. This episode was uh....well it was certainly a thing. Many things. Actually it kind of felt like it couldn't decide which thing it wanted to be, so it ended up trying to be everything. Which only worked in its favor a handful of times.
Also I'm beginning to think that maaaaaaybe Robert Rodriguez needs to work on something....not Star Wars? But I'll elaborate under the cut. Non-spoilery version is ep. 3 felt a little too chaotic and cluttered for me, and once again the action was noticeably clunky and slow. But there were a few good moments scattered in here and there, so I don't feel like it was a complete waste of my time.
Spoilers under the cut:
Gosh darn it, give this poor man a break. You're not even going to give him one full episode as a fully-initiated honorary Tusken before you murder the entire tribe???
Honestly, the sudden eradication of the Tuskens really did feel like Favreau just....didn't need them anymore, and decided to ditch them with a conveniently-timed tragic death. Since the series is still ongoing, I guess there's a possibility that this will be expanded on later, that this event will be given more weight. But as it is, it kind of felt like an afterthought, like something the plot just swept aside so we could get on with other things.
Also felt like this episode was trying a bit too hard to emulate the same kinds of emotional beats that season 1 of The Mandalorian hit so masterfully. Which is disappointing, because a) this show was never going to be The Mandalorian--that's a doomed attempt from the beginning. And b) I really want Book of Boba Fett to have its own unique flavor within the Star Wars canon. We already watched The Mandalorian. Give us something new, please.
That scummy water-dealer made me chuckle a bit. He's not exactly a new type of character, but there's just something amusing about slimy little businessmen trying to suck up to the local rich guy, whilst simultaneously doing nothing to hide the fact that they are indeed little pieces of slime.
So funny story--I was actually low-key expecting Boba Fett to adopt some kind of moody teenager at some point in the series. I wasn't expecting it to be four moody teenagers, but I'm not complaining.
. . . Okay, yes I am complaining because oh my sweet cheese and crackers, these are some of the worst character designs I've ever seen.
Seriously, these kids look like they were yoinked right off the set of Disney's Descendants and given no time to change costumes. They look jarringly out-of-place in the Star Wars universe, especially on a planet like Tatooine. You expect me to believe these poor little street waifs can't afford water? When they look like they've just gone on a massive Hot Topic shopping spree??? That girl's eyeliner is so distracting, I completely missed entire segments of action scenes.
Not that there was much to miss....Yeah the action in this episode was....pretty slow. Boba wrestling with the deranged Wookie looked more fake than your average WWE production. The "high-speed chase" felt more like we were cruising along at a chill 15 mph. None of the new kids did anything particularly cool or interesting, in spite of all the opportunities their cybernetic implants present from a creative standpoint.
This is all incredibly frustrating because I know Lucasfilm can do good action sequences. I love the idea of Boba employing a street gang of ragtag youngsters. I've been excited to see Temuera Morrison throw down with a Wookie. But this episode just...can't seem to figure out how to do any of those things properly.
I am beginning to think that perhaps this is all due to Robert Rodriguez' style of directing and filming. Because every episode he's directed (both in this series and in The Mandalorian) suffered from a lot of the same problems. And with last week's episode being directed by someone else, and feeling perfectly fine, it just makes me think that Rodriguez' style doesn't fit well with Star Wars.
That being said, I am 100% in support of Boba Fett being a stereotypical Horse Girl.
Seriously. The Rancor scene was a blessing I never knew I needed. Boba Fett is now a Grandpa With a Dog, and I love it so much. The absurdity of Boba giving the flesh-eating godzilla-spawn a scritch behind the ear-holes is exactly my brand of humor and I can't wait to find out what he names it.
So yeah, this episode is definitely my least favorite so far, but I can't say it's truly terrible. Again, I'm on board with pretty much every new concept they introduced here, but the way they went about executing said concepts was really rushed and clunky. I'm trying to be as nice to this show as possible (even though I'm REALLY starting to miss Din Djarin), so I'm going to hope that future episodes manage to smooth out all these problems.
. . . . . .Oh shoot, the Rancor's gonna die too, isn't it--

*alarm goes off* God fucking dammit. *sees the troopers scrambling in the background* HAHAHHAHHA😆😆🤣
*stops laughing* Who's in trouble? The Chancellor. Hahahaha, who's that? Ohhh, you mean Buttcheeksakin. Yeahhh~🤣 Nobody cares!!
Ahsoka: "I understand, that it's your usual playing politics. This is why the people have lost faith in the Jedi. I had too. Until I was reminded of what the order means to people who truly need us. "
Obi-Wan: "Right now people on Coruscant need us. "
Ahsoka: "No, the Chancellor needs you. "
Me: *nose bleed* "Damnnnn, say it again for the people in the back!!! Ughh, feisty Ahsoka is sexy. " 😍

DARTH MAUL ! (mouahahaaha) and Obi-Wan too
DARTH MAUL
How I feel about this character: Listen. Maul is the most powerful character in the Star Wars franchise. Guy just radiates big dick energy. I’m not attracted to men and I find him hot. Fuck him. I adore his trashcan ass. All the people I ship romantically with this character: Maul/Decking Sidious in the shin and dousing his corpse in gazoline. And also Maul/Obi-Wan because I’m hot garbage. My non-romantic OTP for this character: I fucking love his weird apprenticeship with Ezra in Rebels. Also Maul, Savage and Feral are always a good murdery trio. My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t have one. I love this himbo. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Dark Disney, show me the Maul & Obi-Wan AU where they live old on Tatooine and bitch over everything and themselves but are too old and grumpy and sad to kill each other. Please. I would pay money.
OBI-WAN KENOBI
How I feel about this character: Him. HIM. The Fave. Sad Boi. Please let him rest and tuck him in bed. He needs it.All the people I ship romantically with this character: I ship Obi-Wan with the entire galaxy and I don’t jest. Obikin, ObiMaul, QuiObi, Obidala, Obitine, CodyWan, ObiRex, VentrObi, ObiQuin, JangObi, ObiGrevious... I will ship him with a toaster. I will ship him with a cup of tea. I mostly ship him with Self-love and Gentle Care. He needs it.My non-romantic OTP for this character: I need more Obi-Wan & Ahsoka in my life because at core, I’m a sad flowergirl who wants his disaster lineage to be happy and to hug each other and to say sorry and to have good things in their life. I also need more Dooku & Obi-Wan in my life but not for the same reasons. My unpopular opinion about this character: To quote some controversial meta I’ve seen around this hot garbage of a fandom: “Obi-Wan has lots of flaws but trying to uphold the culture of his people wasn’t one.” (And no. I won’t elaborate.)One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: A long, happy life but Lucasfilms said fuck you, robbed my home and pushed me into a trashcan.
Give me a character!

CHAPTER V (PART II )
Kylo had burst into bitter laughter when he saw cell where Resistance had locked him up. He imagined few were aware of his being only son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, nephew of Luke Skywalker, but that was no justification. Resistance would have had to learn more about enemies if it intended to fight effectively. Remaining on his feet, boy leaned back against a wall, looking around. Cell hadn't seemed to change since Luke had built it, except for two long, large chains attached to ceiling. Kylo had returned to focusing on what really interested him. Sitting on ground, legs bent and spread apart, looking ahead, he was fumbling with his right arm until he was able to press point of limb interested him. By keeping his concentration, he had managed to use his mind to operate watch on his wrist, although it was stuck under cuffs. Two minutes later, clock had vibrated. Kylo had smiled. - Wait for my signal - Supreme Leader had ordered in a calm tone, speaking to nothing. Clock chirped like a cricket and Kylo mentally turned it off.
"Rey ..." closing his eyes, the young leader had leaned his head against wall, looking for contact with girl, but nothing had come. She still had to be unconscious. His concentration had been disturbed by a strong, familiar presence. Supreme Leader had stiffened, snapping his eyes open, pulling himself to his feet. - General Organa ...- he murmured in a dark voice, taking a few steps, hiding in the shadows. Wrapped in a long gray silk dress, cut in empire style, with a long silver vest, sleeveless, high-necked, the princess and leader of the Resistance, Leia Organa was standing in front of the prison bars, which she stared at him with wet eyes. "Ben ..." murmured the woman in a broken voice. - No. Kylo Ren. I advise you to go back upstairs, General, to safety. I killed her husband Han Solo ... you don't want me to do same with you, do you?- He had cut him short, staying in the shadows. His tone of voice was cold and hard. Leia had pursed her lips and, with a trembling chin, straightening her back, had left the room. Kylo had sat on the ground, gritting his teeth. By time he chased her away, he had felt woman's heart break, her physical weakness resulting from being thrown out of her spaceship after his attack, her belief he was lost. In perceiving mother's thought, Kylo had darkened. General Organa's belief had irritated him, though she was nothing to him anymore. Only an annoying shadow of the past, which had considered him lost since childhood. Where was the news? The sound of furious footsteps had torn Kylo from his reflections. - What did you do to our General? - Standing in front of cell entrance, Poe Dameron, best Resitance’s pilot, had accused him. Man's dark brown eyes sent flashes, his short, curly and black hair seemed unkempt from too much going through his hands. Fleshy mouth, surrounded by a veil of beard, was tight in a thin line, sign of Poe's attempt to maintain control. Behind him, Finn stared at him frowning, looking at him from bottom to top. Resolute and tense, the ex-stormtrooper seemed ready to shoot. Poe had opened cell, entering with a firm step, standing in front of Kylo. Finn had joined him silently. BB-8, Poe's round droid, had rolled beside master, emitting a shy beep. Kylo had looked at both men with a hard but calm expression, then shrugged. - I only remembered who I am, what I did and I could still do ...- he had explained placidly. Two remained staring at him with a dark questioning expression painted on their faces. Kylo had sighed patiently. - I killed Han Solo, your dear General’s husband and I could do same with her... with all of you - he had clarified. - Damn you! - Finn was no longer able to restrain himself and jumped towards him, taking him by neck and slamming him against wall. In Finn’s mind were still vivid images of Leia crying alone in her room for death of her beloved husband. Finn remembered well evening when, passing in front of General's room, he had heard loud sobs. Concerned, he entered in room without asking for permission, finding Leia, sitting at table crying bent and desperate, with one hand over her mouth, in front of an Han Solo’s old hologram. Without saying a word, dark young man had placed one knee on the ground, bending other and embraced Leia, making her head rest on shoulder and rocking her, while she was letting off steam. Now Kylo Ren had dared to turn knife over in that not yet closed wound. - Finn! - Poe had intervened, bringing him back to reality. -Mr Finn! - C3 - PO had entered the cell agitatedly, followed by RD - D2 -Don't do it, please! Upstairs there is an air so sad! General heard you go down to prisons and sent us to check... princess closed herself in her room and Miss Rey is still unconscious! Please, Mr. Finn, don't complicate things! - The intervention of C3 - PO had been strengthened by the metallic noises of RD - D2. -Listen to your new friends, FN-2187. You won't want to disappoint Rey ...- Kylo had commented, before hitting Finn with a headshot in the face. The young man had fallen to the ground, rolling and moaning, holding his bleeding nose with both hands. -Finn!- Poe had screamed, running to his friend and bending over him. BB-8 had emitted a series of loud beeps. Pilot had frantically searched his pockets for something to dab the other 's nose until he found a cloth originally intended for cleaning his X - Wing and passed it to young man, helping him to pull himself up. - I don't need to use the Force to beat you. I can do it even in normal conditions...- Kylo had continued. Poe had grabbed him by collar. -I don't like using these methods, but you wanted it ... - man had hissed between his teeth, forcefully bringing Kylo towards chains hanging from cell’s ceiling. Finn had watched the scene with a grim expression, before rising to his feet, quickly wiping off residual blood and putting cloth in a pocket of his blue trousers, helping to chain his former commander. - If you wanted to hang me without difficulty, You could use blinding light you used to capture me in forest... - Kylo had provoked. RD - D2 had issued some beep trades. He had taken a quick look at droid he had known since childhood, before returning to focus on the two men in front of him. - Of course, I didn't think you would involve Rey ...- he continued. - I don't know what you're talking about and I don't care! That light has knocked you out and that's enough. As for Rey ... don't you dare pronounce her name! - Finn had replied angrily, tightening chains on his wrists and going away. -Really? It seems normal to me to be interested in my ex-ally ...- Kylo had commented casually. Finn had snapped like a snake, grabbing him again by collar. -He has nothing to do with you! - Boy had screamed, narrowing his eyes. Kylo had hidden his surprise. Rey hadn’t revealed anything to his friends about he had killed Snoke and wanted to kill Leia and Resistance... for possessing Anakin's lightsaber, leaving him on the ground, passed out, and stealing a ship to join them on Crait. Furious, Kylo had followed her, ordering her pilots to shoot down the Falcon led by her, Chewbacca and Finn. -I'm not lying. Rey left Ach - To and Luke to come to me. We killed Snoke and Praetorian Guards together - Kylo had revealed in a calm tone, staring in Finn’s eyes. Moving fast, his former subordinate had hit him in chest with a dagger hidden in belt of his pants. Kylo had tensed, pursing his lips and holding on to chains with both hands. Blade’s cold had clashed with warm blood dripped from his chest, giving a strange feeling of unreality, if it hadn't been for burning pain coming from diagonal cut pierced his shirt and flesh. - Finn! - Poe had called his friend back, taking him by arms, fighting with him to keep him still.
RD - D2 had reinforced the pilot's words with loud metallic noises. C3PO had started pacing up and down like an agitated hen. BB-8 had made a disjointed tour of cell, immediately returning to Poe. Kylo had quickly looked down at wound. -Good, FN-2187. You gave me back blow I dealt you at Star Killer Base, but mine was on your back, though and... I didn't lie about Rey - he observed mildly. Finn had managed to free his arm from Poe's grip and, clenching his hand into a fist, had hit Kylo in face. Supreme Leader had found himself with his face turned to one side. Poe had blocked his friend again, murmuring something in his ear, then he had turned to BB-8, instructing him to go back upstairs to perform check rounds inside base. Without moving, Kylo had glanced sideways at round and whirling white droid, with orange and silver outlines. Months earlier he himself had searched for that little robot, in whose memory was kept map missing piece to find Luke Skywalker, man wanted by both Snoke and Resistance. Looking for BB-8, Kylo had met Rey, to whom the little droid had attached himself like a puppy. Something vague and undefined had warned him to keep an eye on droid. At that moment, a strong sensation had shaken Kylo, who had remained silent and motionless. She had recovered, sensed pain from wound Finn had inflicted on him and she was coming. Rey had overwhelmed everyone like a cyclone, surprising even him. It wasn't she stopped torture and freed him from chains, surprised Kylo. He knew this was in Rey nature, but he never expected her to heal him, offering him side a second time. Such naivety wasn’t acceptable. Rey had seen him kill Han, hurt Finn, wildly attack his precious Resistance on Crait. She knew very well his intention to kill Jedi, Sith, Resistance and everything represented past, why help him? Irritated by those thoughts, Kylo had attacked Rey, hurting her, undecided whether to take her and drag her with him, as he had planned from the beginning, or leave her there and forget her... Cardo's arrival had shaken him. Resistance guards had done little. Taking advantage of knowledge of place, Kylo had instructed Cardo about where to hide and multitude of conflicting feelings aroused by his presence at base, had facilitated things. Following instinct, Kylo had jumped on Rey. He knew he was physically stronger than she was and she couldn’t use Force in that cell. Nonetheless, Kylo had been surprised at intensity with which Rey had struggled. At times, he had to struggle to hold her back, especially when others and children had arrived. Kylo frowned suspiciously when he noticed Chewbacca was missing. In all that time prisoner, only one who he hadn't seen was huge Wookie, inseparable companions of Han Solo's adventures. Hairy giant seemed to have disappeared into thin air and he didn't like it. Finn's thoughts had torn Kylo out of those considerations, leaving him stunned. Did ex-stormtrooper really detest him to such an extent he thought he would hurt Rey? Kylo knew Finn wasn't really going to hurt Rey and, judging by his reactions, he really ignored what that light was had knocked him and Rey down. His thoughts, however, surprised him. Shortly before, Rey had blamed war and its protracted for some harsh behavior of his friends and, perhaps, he was right, but he still could not end conflict. -Let them go and I'll go with you - he was dumbfounded, hearing these words coming out of Rey's mouth. On reflection, such an offer was part of she's disposition. Kylo had folded his mouth in a grimace. He didn’t like position in which Rey had put him with such a proposal. -Unlike what you think, I don't like blackmailing people or even being teased ...- Kylo had replied, staring into her eyes. His mind was racing when they beat Snoke and Praetorian Guards. He offered his hand to her, while she turned against him as soon as she learned of his intention to exterminate her friends. Kylo had thought, fault of that result was his, he should have been more subtle and put her in front of the fait accompli, not open up like that. -I'm not setting you a trap - Rey had interrupted his thoughts flow, as if she had read in his mind. He stared at her intently, feeling Leia's scrutinizing and attentive gaze on him, noisy protests of others filling his ears, Cardo's lively and silent curiosity pricking him. Kylo had imperceptibly shook his head, to get rid of that useless tangle of emotions. -Okay ...- he had conceded, freeing Rey from his grip and using Force, to free her from handcuffs. -Please, come on - he invited her, indicating to walk in front of him. Kylo had looked sideways at his mother who, on the contrary, was openly staring at him and Rey. This attitude had made him uncomfortable, causing him to quicken his steps, forcing Rey and Cardo to run to follow him. Traveling Finalizer hadn't been easy. Rey was a volcano of emotions overwhelmed him too. She proceeded in silence, between him and Cardo, trying to hold back tears. Kylo admired her. Rey had gone from being an orphan, full of dreams and hopes, on a desert planet, forgotten by everyone, to discovering she had skills few knew and understood deeply, finding herself catapulted into a conflict foreign to her. Cardo had torn him from these reflections, announcing he would precede him to Finalizer. As soon as they were alone, Rey had turned to him, informing him she would never bend to his will. Kylo had sighed patiently when a disturbance in Force drew his attention. Moving fast, he had imprisoned Rey's wrists in anti-Force handcuffs again, obscuring her perceptions. She was already quite agitated, she didn't want it to explode completely. Pretending not to have noticed pursuers, Kylo had taken Rey in his arms to hurry section separated them from Finalizer. She fought like a fury, but he was determined to resist. Sooner or later she would calm down. Rey's bursting into tears, her despair, letting go against his chest, had disoriented him. First time he had carried her to his ship, he had put her to sleep using Force and then secured her to interrogation table. Apparently he had done well, looking problems she was giving him now. Kylo had thought about using Force to make her pass out again, but when he lowered his eyes on her, he realized Rey had gone from tears to sleep, her face streaked with tears. Kylo had sighed again and he had better placed her in his arms, following last stretch of road. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kylo had just finished shower, wearing black leather boots and pants and was about to call a medical robot when he heard a new disturbance in Force. He quickly put on a black shirt, thick ribbed, knee-length, with a zipper in middle. He fastened a high black leather belt to his waist and placed his lightsaber into a passerby, glanced at Rey still asleep and, with his black and wavy wet hair falling on his forehead, he left the room. Along corridor, Kylo heard General Hux's sour voice, threatening someone in an amused tone. He snapped his tongue, thinking how much mere hearing of man's voice irritated him. -What happens, General Hux? - He thundered, arriving decisively behind the man. The shadow of a smile passed lightly on Kylo's face, as he saw soldier jerked slightly, at his voice sound. Three stormtroopers with Hux snapped to attention. - So?- Kylo went on, noting four men were surrounding something or someone. Hux moved from his view. - Supreme Leader, we have captured these intruders ...- General indicated prisoners with one hand and Kylo narrowed his mouth, surprised to see who it was. Desperate beeps reached his ears. Kylo raised his eyes, frowning in anger, to see what was going away from the ship. He raised a hand to use Force to block and bring fugitive back, when a blue lightsaber appeared in front of his eyes. Supreme Leader changed goal, using Force to disarm attacker with ease. Lightsaber landed on the ground, extinguishing itself and rolling away a few steps. Without moving or even touching it, Kylo drew it to him, commandeering it. - Thank you, General. He can go back to his duties, here I think - Kylo ordered, dismissing Hux with a hand’s gesture. Man pounded his heels together. Bowing quickly, with his arms stiff at his sides, red hair moved away with a firm and fast pace. Kylo went back to staring at intruders. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Thanks ... nothing ... yes, I know. No ... don't bother me - followed by a medical robot, Kylo returned to room after fixing the intruders. At thought of fugitive he frowned. Kylo expected an attack at any moment, but he had already alerted Hux and practiced troops, giving precise instructions. He had thought of something about Rey as well, although he already anticipated her reaction. Kylo took off his shirt, placing it on a shelf. Shirtless, he sat at table, clenching his teeth and his fist, when robot cut the flesh of his forearm, working with his sharp tentacles to extract microchip he had placed under his skin. A feeling shook him, causing him to look up at Rey's slender lying figure. -Rey ... I know you're awake- Kylo announced, sighing patiently. - I would have a ... surprise for you if and when you deign to get up- he continued, raising his eyebrows with a grimace. Problem wasn’t surprise, but her reaction. Rey tensed, staying alert, then resigned herself to turn slowly, on her side, finding herself staring at Kylo Ren's brown and stormy eyes.

did you not see the daisy and john interviews that were released in THREE different magazines yesterday? 🥴 both daisy and john hinted at reylo and bendemption but it’s funny how none of you mention that
Okay, homegirl/boy/them (whichever your pronouns may be), maybe you should learn a little about the person you’re so adamant about taking down before sending dumbass asks.
One, I’m not against Bendemption. I think it’ll happen, but definitely not the way you think. I may have been against it at one point, but points of view change. I do have an open mind. However, we should all know by now emo boy here ain’t walking off into the sunset with a happily ever after. If anything, it’s exile or self sacrifice (death). If you think Disney wouldn’t do such things, I shall refer you to Rogue One when they killed off the ENTIRE main cast. So, jot that down.
Second, nothing at what John/Daisy said hinted at Reylo. Personally, I think Rey won’t have a romance — and no, that doesn’t mean I hate Rey and wish her to die alone. There’s other ways to achieve love and Daisy is an admirer of having those in stories since she’s essentially tired of female characters, for some reason, needing romance when they don’t. Rey is one of them. She has belonging and family with the Resistance. To quote Daisy back in April, “Rey chose her family. She chose well.” That said, should Rey have a romance, it’d more than likely be with Finn. Based off what I’m reading in Resistance Reborn, Poe could be an option for her as well, though even less likely.
Third, and I cannot stress this enough, do you really believe Lucasfilm/Disney would PUBLISH an article into their OFFICIAL magazine talking about the abusive dynamic of Rey and Kylo, only for them to be like, “But yeah, it’s romantic because reasons”? Like, really think about it. It’s a horrendous marketing strategy, and not a good business deal to do that. Nevermind all their cards and novels explicitly state it precisely so everyone understands that this dynamic is not to be romanticized. It has been dumbed down to its purest forms and you knuckleheads still do things like this: insisting it’s canon and becoming little pests about it. Which leads me to my next point.
Fourth, while there antis who purely hate the ship out of the abusive tactics of it and what not, you’ll find that there are those that just ended up hating the ship because people like you insist on shoving it down people’s throats because HOW DARE THEY HAVE A DIFFERING OPINION. That’s why people hate this fan base so much. Now, this doesn’t go for all shippers. A fair portion are nice and I enjoy having conversations with them, genuinely I do. But it’s those like you that give them a bad name, so please reconsider your choices here. Think about who you’re affecting by sending all these asks to a bunch of other random people who you could just simply ignore instead and pursue things you actually enjoy.
That said, please just get a life. Eat some cake or ice cream, go outside, pet your dog, SOMETHING. Send another ask, it shall only get deleted. Bye, boo.

I can do this. We can do this. - Poe Dameron (One Shot)
Words: 1,072
Warnings - None
A/N - Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written and published anything here. Had a lot going on in my life and not much time or motivation to write. Anyway got this idea after finding out Oscar Issac’s wife has had another boy, and as always please do leave feedback if you enjoy this.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Poe he belongs to Disney and Lucasfilms Ltd. I own myself, my ideas and the Dameron children.
Tag List: @carrie-85 @x-wingwarriorbbpoe8 @space-helen
It was a beautiful and sunny day over the jungle moon of Yavin IV, where I lived with my husband Poe, his father Kes, our three-year-old son Kes Jr and our two droids BB-8 and D-O.
I was currently heavily pregnant with another child and was on my way to take some lunch to Poe, who was out working the fields on our ranch
Though the walk there was slow due to my rather large bump, it was all worth it when I reached him
"Hey, I bought you some lunch. I figured you could use some after all of your hard work this morning." I smiled
"Thank you really are the best wife a guy could he ask for" He grinned kissing me on the cheek.
I was about to remark that he was welcome, but it was at that moment that I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my abdomen, and a warm liquid soak my underwear
Oh no.
No. Not now. It was too soon. I wasn't due for two more weeks.
I looked at Poe with pained and frightened eyes.
Seeing this immediately he became shocked and somewhat panicked.
I had the same look on my face as when I'd gone into labour with Kes...
"It's the baby isn't it?" He asked
I nodded
"It's coming Poe, I can feel it."
Without another moment's hesitation, he then scooped me up in his arms and put me into the land speeder parked nearby.
I tried to stay calm as he buckled me in but deep down inside, I was terrified.
It was becoming increasingly apparent that our little one was going to be here before we knew it.
I shut my eyes and tried to do some of the breathing exercises I'd been taught in classes at the hospital on Naboo.
They were to no avail because I couldn't take it anymore.
I had to get this baby out of me and out of me now.
We were almost back at the house we lived in together when I yelled at Poe to stop.
He stopped the speeder right where the force tree was.
The tree that had been given to Poe's parents Kes and Sarah, by the legendary Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker and then planted by them on Yavin IV when they settled down after the war against the Empire.
"I have to have this baby now Poe, I can't wait any longer," I told him
"Ok, ok this isn't exactly ideal but babies come when babies want to come right?"
I could tell whilst he too was trying to be calm on the surface, but he was just as scared as I was.
He lifted me out of the speeder and laid me down under the force tree. Helping me to sit up against it.
Now beneath the force tree, I adjusted myself the best I could and Poe settled himself in front of me between my legs
He ran a hand through his raven curls and exhaled
"Now like I said this isn't exactly ideal but we're going to get through this. I can do this. We can do this." He said trying to reassure himself as well as me.
"I know you can my handsome flyboy," I reassured him in return. “I love you and I trust you completely”
After all, we had been through a lot together and there had been times when Poe had saved my life.
Hearing this bought him comfort, but no sooner had I had said, this than another contraction hit and I let out a pained cry.
No doubt the first of many that were to come.
Hearing this, Poe went into a focused mode.
"When you get your next contraction I want you to push as long as you can ok?” He instructed.
Again, I nodded. Wanting to see this through as much as he did. So when I got another contraction, I did just that.
I pushed. I pushed. Eyes closed. Teeth gritted.
Giving birth to Kes hadn’t been easy, but at least I’d had pain relief from the medical droids. This time I had none of that.
No sterile hospital, no medical droids, no pain relief, no Poe to hold my hand and soothe and encourage me through it.
Well, I had Poe, only this time he was the one delivering our child. This time I was underneath a tree on a jungle moon in the outer rim of the galaxy, with no medical droids, no pain relief.
Of course, one push wasn’t going to bring our child into the galaxy, and so I pushed and pushed, encouraged on by Poe
“Come on babe, you’re doing so well sweetheart you can do this. Keep pushing for me.”
I pushed again and again, focusing on my memories of my life so far with Poe.
Meeting him, getting to know him, our first date, our first kiss, our first night in a bed together, almost losing him to the first order, him asking me to marry him, marrying in the great temple in front of our friends and family, becoming one, having Kes, it’d all lead up to this moment.
Then...
After what seemed like a lifetime, two things pulled me back into reality
A child’s cry and Poe’s voice.
“It’s a boy. We have another son Emma.” He told me. His voice portraying the happiness he felt.
Relief and joy washed over me like a tidal wave.
Another boy. Between our marriage, Kes and a peaceful galaxy our life felt complete.
The Damerons.
Taking off the scarf that he’d been wearing to keep the sun off his neck he wrapped it around the baby before handing him to me
But nothing could have prepared me for this, a beautiful baby boy with dark hair and eyes and a face I fell instantly in love with.
“Poe. Oh, Poe, he’s wonderful.”
“You did it, baby.”
“No Poe we did it,” I remarked looking at the newborn in my arms and then at my husband.
“Yeah, we did it. But I think this bundle of joy needs a name” He said joining myside and putting an arm around me.
I knew he was right, and we had discussed baby names a few weeks previously. After thinking for a moment I picked one.
“How about Ace? Ace Wes Dameron?” I suggested

Rian Johnson on the evolution of the Force in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' and more spoilers
Who is Snoke, anyway? Has Kylo Ren ever kissed a girl? Rian Johnson answers the burning ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ questions. — LA Times | Dec 18, 2017
As Obi-Wan Kenobi once told young Luke Skywalker, “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things — it surrounds us, and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.”
Ever since Tatooine’s favorite farm boy learned about the Force, “Star Wars” fans have devoured every bit of the universe that’s come alive in the galaxy far, far away over the course of eight movies and counting.
But in Disney’s weekend box-office smash “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” writer-director Rian Johnson (“Brick,” “Looper”) takes bold leaps and shakes up the “Star Wars” universe, sending “Force Awakens” heroes Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) further into the fight between light and dark with one surprise after another.
How much does “The Last Jedi” redefine the rules of Force physics as we know it — and what do these tantalizing new possibilities mean for the future of “Star Wars?” Who is Snoke, anyway? What exactly can Force ghosts do from beyond the astral plane? Has Kylo Ren ever kissed a girl?
Back in Los Angeles between globe-trotting appearances, a week after his star-studded premiere, Johnson answered all these burning “Star Wars” questions and more. Heavy spoiler warning: Best to read after watching “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
“The Last Jedi” takes much of what we all thought we knew about this 40-year-old franchise and how the rules of the Force work, and expands them in some wild new ways. Knowing the doors you were going to open, what were your consultations like with Lucasfilm’s in-house protectors of the canon while writing the script?
There is a man named Pablo Hidalgo who is the sweetest dude in the universe, and he’s one of several keepers of the flame at Lucasfilm. It would always be a conversation, and if the story required it and if it felt like it stretches into new territory but doesn’t break the idea of what the Force can do, Pablo was down — I got the blessing.
The evolution of Rey’s relationship with Kylo Ren takes an intense and pivotal turn in “The Last Jedi.” We learn that Supreme Leader Snoke has linked them through the Force, as if he were connecting a call at a switchboard — an idea thematically mirrored in Poe’s “bad connection” scene with Hux earlier in the film. Where did that idea originate?
It was always through the demands of the story. With the Force connections between Rey and Kylo I thought, “OK, I need to get these two talking. But if I put them face to face they’re going to either fight, or one of them has to be tied up” —
Well, they could also make out …
They could also make out! I’m going to give you a spinoff movie …
Even if they make out, then they can’t be talking. So I knew I wanted them to talk, and to talk enough to where we could go from “I hate you,” to her being forced to actually engage with him. That’s where the idea of these “Force connections” came from, which is kind of a new thing. It’s a little bit of a riff on what happens with Vader and Luke at the end of “The Empire Strikes Back,” but it’s entirely new in some regards.
I’ve got a catchy name for Rey and Kylo’s sexy “Force connection” sessions for you: “ForceTime.”
[Laughs] I’ve heard “Force Skyping,” but that’s good! I’ve got to talk to Apple. There’s a real big co-branding opportunity here.
Some of these revelatory new Force possibilities might be challenging for fans to accept. Are they such a stretch within “Star Wars” science and the greater franchise?
The truth is, because “Star Wars” until “The Force Awakens” has been set in amber and we hadn’t had a new “Star Wars” movie in 10 years, you forget that they were introducing new Force stuff with each movie, based on the requirements of the story. Force-grabbing didn’t come around until “Empire,” it wasn’t in “A New Hope.” Same with Force ghosts. They’d introduce new ideas of what could happen with the Force each time.
After the climactic battle on the salt planet Crait we learn Luke was projecting himself from his island the whole time. How does that scene rewrite the rules of the Force? Could a Force user projecting themselves physically influence the world around them, not just the minds of others?
That’s a question. When Luke shows up he’s projecting, it’s like a hardcore variation of what Kylo and Rey have been doing the whole time and that’s why it takes so much out of him. In the version that we play, no. We tried to play really, really fair. In terms of his footsteps – we removed all of his foley — there are no footstep sounds. They never touch. And if you look, the salt flakes that are falling are sparking off of Kylo’s saber and not off of Luke’s.
What about Force ghosts and the suggestion that Jedi masters wield even more previously unknown powers from beyond the grave? Can powerful Force users create physical, tangible manifestations?
The one point where we do introduce a bit of a twist in terms of Force ghosts is where Yoda calls down the lightning onto the tree. That, I think, is a tantalizing hint of the potential of someone who is a Force ghost interacting with the real world.
Hypothetically speaking, can dark Force users become Force ghosts?
I think that would be interesting. We haven’t seen them in the movies as far as I can remember. But that would be really interesting considering the dark side is about self-preservation, trying to find immortality, and the notion that the light side actually got to it through selflessness — what would the dark side version of that look like? There’s so much cool [stuff] to think about if you’re willing to open your head a little bit!
Another surprise in this film is seeing Leia use her latent Force powers after decades of being the Skywalker twin who doesn’t wield the Force. Why was that an important parting gift to give both Leia and Carrie Fisher?
That was something Kathy [Kennedy] was always asking: Why has this never manifested in Leia? She obviously made a choice, because in “Return of the Jedi” Luke tells her, “You have that power too.” I liked the idea that it’s not Luke concentrating, reaching for the lightsaber; it’s an instinctual survival thing, like when you hear stories of a parent whose toddler is caught under a car and they get superhuman strength, or a drowning person clawing their way to the surface. It’s basically just her not being done with the fight yet.
I wanted it to happen [for Carrie] and I knew it was going to be a stretch. It’s a big moment, and I’m sure it will land different ways for different people, but for me it felt like a really emotionally satisfying thing to see.
Han’s dice are a nice touch that resonates with Luke, Leia and Kylo, not to mention the fans, and a callback to how he got the Millennium Falcon in the first place.
When I wrote it, it was something that was in “The Force Awakens.” I think they shot it and didn’t end up using it: When Han comes onto the Falcon, he takes his dice out of his pocket and hangs them back up, like, “This is mine again.” When it got pulled out [of “The Force Awakens”] I thought, even if it’s not directly set up I think you’ll get it that these are Han’s dice. The notion that they get used different ways ending with Kylo, I liked.
Fans have been obsessed with Snoke’s origins since “The Force Awakens,” and while we get to know him much more in “The Last Jedi,” you don’t necessarily give that answer. Does it matter who he was?
Not in this story it doesn’t, which is not to say it wouldn’t be interesting — they might explore it in the next movie or elsewhere. I wrote this script before “The Force Awakens” came out, so when I wrote it, the “Who is Snoke?” mania hadn’t arisen with the fans yet. Even if it had, my perspective is it’s similar to how the Emperor was handled. The first three movies you know nothing about the Emperor because you don’t have to, because that’s not the story. You know exactly what you need to know. Whereas in the prequels, you know everything about him because that is the story.
In this movie, Rey doesn’t really care where he comes from, so if in any of their scenes he had stopped and done a 30-second monologue about how he is [Darth] Plagueis or whoever, Rey would have blinked and looked confused and the scene would have gone on … and we would have ended up cutting it in the editing room because it doesn’t matter to the story right now.
Why does it matter, then, who Rey’s parents are — the idea that she doesn’t come from a lineage of “special” Jedi kin?
It felt like the way to go because it’s the hardest thing that she could possibly hear. It would be the easy thing for her to be defined by, “yes, this is how you fit into this story — it’s because your parent is so and so!” In that moment, for Kylo to be able to use that [information] as a knife and twist it to try and get what he wants, felt like the most dramatically potent option.
Please explain the dramatic necessity of giving Kylo Ren a shirtless scene.
At the premiere I heard somebody in the balcony say, “Yesssss!” You can see Adam was training hardcore throughout the whole process. It’s fun but it also has a specific purpose, which is the increasing feeling of uncomfortable intimacy. That was sticking with the theme of trying to give Rey the hardest thing you could possibly give her, which would be unavoidable intimate conversation with this person that she wants to just hate. This was just one more way of upping that ante.
So … is this the first time Kylo has ever held hands with a girl?
I actually talked about that with Adam [Driver]. Adam was like, “So … have I actually kissed a girl before?” I would think maybe he has. Maybe after hours in the Jedi camp, there was a game of spin the bottle — “spin the lightsaber…”

Okay so, here’s my own tiny review (more like a rant lmao) of TLJ, don’t read if you haven’t seen the movie obviously!
STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI SPOILERS BELOW
Because it’s a Star Wars movie, and because I’m a SW nerd, obviously, I HAD to see it on the first day, and I was so excited I barely even slept the night before. The thing is, in the end, I was oh so heavily disappointed. Now don’t get me wrong, I love SW and obviously I will see episode 9. And even that crappy Han Solo sequel, probably. Disney knows exactly what they’re doing, and of all the people I’ve talked to who have been so disappointed by TLJ as well, 99% of them said the exact same thing as me: “I used to love the old trilogies, and the EU - therefore, I will see any upcoming SW movie, even if I know it’s gonna be bad”.
I think that sums up my opinion of SW as a whole ever since Disney bought Lucasfilms. I don’t like Rebels, I don’t like the new trilogy, I don’t like how stupidly childish, sweetened down and cheesy they are, but I’m a victim of my own initial love for SW, so... :’)
...My biggest issue with the entire movie is that it didn’t feel like a Star Wars movie at ALL. I spent the entire movie being like, “Who the fuck are you?? What the HELL is this? Where the hell are you going??!”
Nothing felt like SW. It was an outrageous insult to every single old fan of Star Wars - they made up new species, new planets, new characters, and as soon as Leia and Chewie die in (I suppose) the next episode, there will be nothing left of SW at all. It’s gonna be a cheap, childish universe that has nothing to do with Lucas’ SW. Going to a casino planet? Oh, better make it a NEW boring, ugly planet that felt like something out of MASS EFFECT instead of SW, instead of making everyone happy and making them go to Nar Shaddaa. Same for that dumb crystal planet at end - why not make them go to a new ~old Resistance base planet~ instead of oh, idk, Hoth or Yavin, AKA some REAL Resistance planets from the old trilogy?
And the worst part? I spent the ENTIRE casino arc (and the entire movie, in fact) staring at the background and the extras, and.. I couldn’t spot a SINGLE alien I knew. No Twi’lek, no Togruta, no Devaronian, no Pantoran, no Chiss, NOTHING. It was either a bunch of ugly humans in ugly costumes or some unknown cheap-looking alien species. I THINK I saw something that looked vaguely like a Dug at some point, but that’s... literally it. I was so sad and so fucking disappointed.
Now, for a list of pros and cons for the rest of the movie:
PROS: - The scene where Leia uses the Force to bring herself back into the ship was absolutely incredible and brought tears to my eyes. The visuals were beautiful, it was just... perfectly executed. - LOVED all of the Kylo/Rey scenes, I’m honestly biased because Daisy and Adam are some of my favorite actors, and they were absolutely incredible in their roles. The hand touch was just... beautiful. When Rey feels the rain and Kylo does too because of their Force bond... It gave me chills. It was beautiful and so sad. - Rose was easily the best developed human character in the trilogy and I think that says a lot considering she’s been here since, well, the beginning of TLJ only. Also, she was beautiful and adorable and really badass. - The space battles. Incredible visuals again. The moment where Holdo drives the ship into hyperspace straight into the Imperial destroyer was just so beautiful. - Yoda’s Force ghost. So beautiful and so sad, and I was so happy that they used the same model that they used in the first trilogy. - Luke’s death. Not the ACTUAL death, which was super badly executed IMO, but the final scene where he becomes one with the Force, with his theme song playing in the background - it made me tear up. It was SO beautiful and so good. As Rey said, there was no sadness, he passed away feeling whole again. - The last scene with the little slave kid telling the other slave kids about the Resistance and the Force, and that tiny moment where he uses the Force to grab his broom, and the last scene where he looks at the sky, it gave me so many prequels/original trilogies feels.
CONS: (oh boy) - The really terrible conclusion to all the Kylo/Rey scenes, where they decided to just... kill off Snoke and make Kylo the big villain. Broke my heart. Really terrible writing, so predictable, again a representation of how stupid Disney’s view of the Force is: everyone is either black or white, and if there’s a SINGLE doubt about their alignment, it WILL be made clear at some point that they’re either super evil or super nice. Kylo was nothing but a sad boy, I was heavily disappointed that Disney chose to make him kill Han, and SO happy when he decided not to kill his mother in TLJ. I was almost starting to believe he could get a redemption arc, but no, it would’ve been too complex and interesting for the kiddy audience obviously. - Luke’s... entire arc?? Entire character?? Disney absolutely destroyed and burned down everything about Luke and the entire movie was just a fucking fiasco because of this. They turned the loving, friendly, ever hopeful little boy into a bitter monster who, for a second, would have been ready to execute a CHILD, his own NEPHEW, in his sleep. Into a stupid Force user who, after witnessing what the Jedi and the Jedi code did to his father, turning him into the galaxy’s most hated man, STILL chose to keep using the Jedi code and to teach it to his students. Ridiculous, completely OOC. - Whatever this mess of a story arc Poe got. Hundreds of people died because of him, including Rose’s sister. It was so OOC and such terrible handling of his character, I’m honestly speechless. - Whatever this mess of a story arc Finn and Rose got...? What was the POINT of this entire arc since it led to absolutely nothing except more pain and suffering? Ridiculous. - WHERE. WERE. THE. ALIENS. Seriously, FUCK OFF DISNEY. I’m so tired of all these humans. SO TIRED. The galaxy is NOT MADE OF A MAJORITY OF HUMANS, FFS. The casino was full of humans, the Resistance was full of humans EXCEPT THREE characters that I spotted in the background on top of admiral Ackbar (who fucking died too??), and even Phasma was also a human. When her helmet shattered, oh boy, I had this faint hope that she would be a Chiss, but NOPE. ANOTHER HUMAN. - Those marketing-driven scenes with the ugly birds (’Porgs’) and the uwuwu cute crystal foxes uwu like lol, go ahead, just buy plushies and figures of them, that was the only purpose of their appearance in the movie anyway. - Leia’s lack of love and empathy for her son. Luke’s unshakable need to remind everyone he needs to murder Kylo for the greater good. It was so OOC for both of them and CAN DISNEY JUST GIVE KYLO A BREAK LMAO. They turned what could have been one of the most interesting twist on a kid falling to the Dark side into a ridiculous evil puppet. Also, Leia has ONE child, and she would never hate him. OOC as hell. Next. - That dude from the casino whose name I can’t even remember, who helped Finn and Rose with the Destroyer and etc. Who the fuck. What the fuck. I just?? Why?? What was the purpose of this ugly drunk hobo besides making me hate Finn and Rose’s arc even more lmfao??? AND WHY WAS HE HUMAN AGAIN PLS REMIND ME? - NONE of the theories/questions were answered. Who is Snoke? Don’t know, don’t care, boom he’s dead. Thanks Disney. Rey is so strong in the Force because she’s related to Anakin? Lol no, she’s a random character with random parents. I was facepalming so hard.
I just. Oooh boy. This movie was a disappointment, It was exactly everything I knew it would be because Disney is bad at storytelling and likes to make everything easy and simple to understand for their stupid goddamn kid audience. Like go away lmao. I’m gonna sound like an old bitter harpy but the EU > Disney. SW was never supposed to be so easy to understand, it’s supposed to be complex, full of mysteries and theories. My mom and I regularly debate about Anakin and Padme and Obi-Wan and Luke and it’s been YEARS since these trilogies ended. That’s not going to happen with TLJ.
What I’m looking forward to in the next ep, even though I know it has 99% chance of not happening: - Leia getting a beautiful death, because she’s a queen, a mother, a legend and deserves the best death ever. - Hopefully a last goddamn chance for a Kylo redemption arc. Like lmao I know it won’t happen and Disney will just keep ruining his character but a girl can still hope. - More Kylo/Rey scenes since they were some of the best parts of TLJ. - More Rey/Finn/Poe scenes because we got nothing at all in TLJ except a hug between Finn and Rey at the end and like a two-word exchange between Rey and Poe. - More cool space battles. - MORE FUCKING ALIENS. FFS. JUST GIVE ME ONE TWI’LEK AND I’LL BE HAPPY. - An Obi-wan and/or Anakin Force ghost. - An interesting ship that isn’t necessarily straight (just saying this because I can FEEL the Poe/Rey happening even though they have 0 chemistry and it’s making me sad :’)) - PLEASE just tell me who the fuck Snoke is and tell me he isn’t really dead. Please. The ~supreme leader~ can’t possibly have such a retarded death with 0 background for his character. It makes no sense.

The Last Jedi Thoughts
A lot of spoilers under the cut, but I have a lot of feelings so here we go
All in all, I liked it. Actually, I loved it, if we’re gonna be honest here, which was a pleasant surprise considering I went in pretty much terrified and prepared to start my Victorian two year mourning period right there on the spot.
That being said, I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things, so I’m going to be basic and follow everyone else who’s seen it with a pros and cons segment.
Pros (because I always like to start with the good):
Wow I love porgs. Like I feel like I should have something deep or thoughtful to say here but I really don’t. Bastards are freaking adorable I’m adopting twelve.
Force sensitive Leia is 100% canon now. I mean, we always knew it was canon, but now we have undeniable confirmation and I am alive.
Leia’s relationship with Poe was seriously one of the greatest things to see. A good and pure addition, and it had a familial dynamic that I feel very strongly about.
R2-D2 showing Luke Leia’s message seriously made me cry. Their relationship is so wonderful and that being the thing that makes Luke decide to give Rey a chance was just like :’) I mean, then he decided to be a drama queen and all that but still it happened and I’m moving on now
Rey’s poncho???? A blessing 1000/10 would recommend
Rey interacting with rain? Pure and good content
I’m getting sidetracked so just one more but wow Rey with her hair down????? My baby is so good I love her
The 180 Steve Harrington move they pulled on us with Holdo was something I was not ready for yet was very happy about! Also the scene when she goes into hyperspace was just so good? A cinematic masterpiece all on its own.
Rose. Rose’s backstory, Rose’s wisdom, Rose’s cute face, just Rose in general. A pure and good soul who’s never done anything wrong in her life. I know this and I love her.
The whole plot idea between Finn, Rose, and Poe. While there were things I didn’t love (see down a bit), this whole idea of exploring one’s place in something as large as the fight between the Resistance and the First Order was actually really interesting to see. Especially Finn, struggling to decide with whether or not to dedicate himself to this cause, grappling with the severity of the decision. When he called himself rebel scum I may or may not have cried a bit and w’re moving on now
Poe’s sass. My skin is clear and my crops are watered.
Lieutenant Connix getting more screen time. Please and thank you.
Luke being the drama queen we all know and love, for better or for worse.
That whole force projection thing???? Wiping off the dust after being shot at???? Acknowledging that Kylo has fallen off the rail and can no longer be saved? Luke is a true legend in everything he does I will defend him to my grave
POE!!! JUST!!! WANTS!!! TO!!! SAVE!!! THEM!!!!!!!!
Rey coming in on the Falcon blasting TIE fighters??? I have been blessed
BB-8 has never been better and I’m leaving it at that
Rey lifting the rocks???
The kids from Canto Bright both broke my heart and made my life moving on
Rey rejecting Kylie!!! Twice!!!!!! That happened take a fucking sip, babes
I felt Luke’s death scene was well done. Did I want it? No, but I guess if Rian really had to do it (still think he did not then drawing the parallels with the sunset and the music and letting him be at peace was a nice was to do it. Don’t get me wrong I’m still not happy about it but they didn’t consult me first so I’m gonna have to live with it
The whole battle scene with Kyle and Rey was actually really good. I wasn’t expecting him to kill Snoke, not gonna lie, and that whole scene was actually really well done. I actually almost liked Kyle for a second. Then I came back to reality.
Rey trying to change him to the light. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t the plot I wanted, and it wasn’t the one I would have gone for, but somehow it actually felt in key with her character? This is a girl who is completely built on hope to a certain extent. She saw there was still a part of Kylo that wasn’t akin to Snoke’s leadership, and she was hopeful she could use that to bring him to the light. Snoke saw this, and twisted it to his own advantage. Rey won’t be making that mistake with emo monster child anymore though because...
Kylo not turning to the light and instead taking his place as the pathetic, evil child he is. I knew he was unredeemable; glad to finally put that one to rest.
The entire ending? Like yes? Thank you????? Yeah I’m a sucker for hope okay that’s why I sold my soul to this life-ruining franchise in the first place y’all
Rest in freaking pieces r*ylo lmao
Shit that was too many feelings
Okay if y’all haven’t already decided to hate my opinions because they’re a) too long or b) other reasons then let’s move on to cons:
That hand touching scene?? Wtf????? Rian I want answers that was uncomfortable and I get the point of it was to have the two see something about the other through the force but still??? It was so???? Cringey?????
The entire beginning of the movie felt weirdly like a better version of a prequels film. I don’t know like I liked it but it was almost trippy in a way. Episodes 2 and 3 anyone??? Just me??? Whatever I just love Poe Dameron
There were some times I felt like the characters were just... off. I’m really glad they made it so Luke wasn’t going to actually kill Ben because that’s just?? Not Luke?? But they fixed that so moving on.
Poe was so aggressive at times but I love him he’s doing his best I don’t know why this is in here I have nothing negative to say about Poe ever
I wish they had really emphasized how important Finn’s decision to stay in the resistance is. That’s a big call that’s going to impact the whole next movie like come on guys give my boy a little bit more credit.
“No opportunity for LGBT representation” my ass like come on Rian how much more opportunity do you need?? JJ Abrams better pull through that’s all I’m saying
Half-naked Kyle? I am both confused and disturbed all at once. There was literally no reason for it and those pants were a nightmare that will haunt me and my costume design student dreams for an eternity I’m expecting this crime to be paid for in full LucasFilm
I still don’t know how I feel about the whole Rey’s parentage yet, but I didn’t really like the way it was done. It felt like it wasn’t that big of a deal? There was all this build up to it throughout the movie and then just??? Nothing?? This has been important to Rey for most of her life and her reaction was just sorta.... minimal. Like it obviously hurt but it still felt like it was missing something. Also Kyle’s a little shit for trying to use that to manipulate her but what else is new?
Killing Paige in the first 10 minutes or less. I...... sad.
This is a lot more than I thought I was going to type, and I’m not gonna lie I think it might all be a big incoherent mess, but I wanted to get some thoughts out while it was all super fresh in my mind. There’s actually a whole lot more I liked than what I wrote (I wrote too much as it is), and there was stuff I didn’t love either that isn’t in here, so if you want to talk I’d love to.
All in all, I actually enjoyed the film a lot. Poe isn’t straight though I’m not letting that go ever.
